Travis Ogletree Shares How to Get His Jennifer Aniston-Inspired California Highlights No Matter Your Location

by jummy84 August 25, 2025
written by jummy84

California here we come! Travis Ogletree — whose star-studded client list includes Shay Mitchell, Miranda Kerr, and more Hollywood It-girls — sat down with ET to reveal how to achieve his signature California highlights from anywhere.

Before opening his chic Anti-Salon in (naturally) Los Angeles, California, the hairstylist perfected the technique that has made him the go-to for creating sun-drenched locks, influenced by none other than Jennifer Aniston.

Travis Ogletree/Instagram

“California highlights are effortless. They mimic how hair would lighten at the beach,” he explains. “It’s that golden, childlike color you get from living in the sun. The end result feels dimensional, air-dried, and a little nostalgic.”

As for how the Friends star played a role in shaping his vision: “Jen was doing dimensional highlights long before balayage entered the conversation. … There’s something to be said for finding what suits you and owning it for decades. That’s real style.”

It’s no surprise, then, that Aniston herself tapped Ogletree as an ambassador for her haircare line, LolaVie.

Travis Ogletree/Instagram

“I love LolaVie because it’s uncomplicated, but so effective,” he says. I use the Glossing Detangler on every client, and the Restorative Shampoo and conditioner work across the board. They clean without stripping and hydrate without heaviness.”

Once your locks are prepped, the hairdresser works his magic for a soft, lived-in look.

“Placement is intuitive, custom to each person, and never overdone. … I want to create color that feels like it belongs to you — not like it was painted on. Similar to cosmetic work, clients want that ‘did she/didn’t she’ highlight.”

Travis Ogletree/Instagram

This understated method applies to brunettes and blondes — both of Ogletree’s specialties.

“My California brunette is dimensional, low-key, and kissed by light. My California blonde has the same ease, just with brighter ribbons through the face frame and ends.”

“We usually start conservatively and build towards brightness over time. I always tell people, ‘We’re just editing the photo, not reshooting it.’ … Neither ever looks forced. It’s about subtlety,” the hair guru notes.

Travis Ogletree/Instagram

Beyond his relaxed approach to color, Ogletree has cultivated a matching studio experience rooted in quiet luxury.

“It’s about slowing down and feeling at home. I wanted to create something intimate and calm, the opposite of an overstimulating salon floor. … My boyfriend and I are dreaming up the next version with Sarah Weichel of Swike Design. It’s going to be an extension of our ethos, but elevated even further, where you’re surrounded by vintage and collected pieces that reflect California living.”

Jenna Bush Hager Shares Family Vacation Photos Amid ‘Today’ Absence

by jummy84 August 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Jenna Bush Hager is enjoying her time off from Today across the Atlantic.

The Today With Jenna & Friends host gave fans a glimpse into her family’s Italian vacation via her Instagram Story on Monday, August 25. “My travel guru (and friend! @markellwood recommended @romecavalieri for our trip!” she captioned a snap of a statue on the grounds of the Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria.

Bush Hager went on to share several photos of the hotel, including the picturesque city view from the outdoor pool, stunning wall art, and chic interior design. “10 minutes from Roma center and heaven … pools and gardens to spend afternoons after touring!” she wrote over a clip of the pool view.

Bush Hager’s Monday Instagram Story posts also included some photos of her family. In one pic, she photographed her husband, Henry Hager, and 6-year-old son, Hal, writing a note at a desk. Bush Hager also took a snap of Hal sitting on a couch with his big sisters — Mila, 12, and Poppy, 10 — in one of the hotel’s common areas.

Bush Hager concluded her Monday photo treat for fans by sharing a sweet pic of herself and her husband posing on a balcony with a view of Rome behind them.

Bush Hager’s absence from Today began on August 14, as that day and the following day’s new episodes with guest host Erin Andrews were both prerecorded. The break continued into last week, which aired “best-of” episodes featuring previously recorded segments and celebrity interviews.

Per Today‘s website, the “best-of” prerecorded episodes will continue through Friday, August 29. (TVI Insider previously reached out to Today regarding when Bush Hager will be back in Studio 1A.)

Monday’s episode of Jenna & Friends opened with a new (yet prerecorded) conversation between Bush Hager and Sunday Today‘s Willie Geist, followed by past segments featuring celebs such as Bowen Yang, Kenan Thompson, Michelle Buteau, Ego Nwodim, and Atsuko Okatsuka.

A teaser at the end of Monday’s episode revealed that the Tuesday, August 26, episode of Jenna & Friends will re-air past segments with Hager, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, and Dwyane Wade.

Bush Hager is one of many Today hosts who are currently on a summer break from the NBC morning show. Craig Melvin shared on Monday that Al Roker will return to Today on Tuesday following his week-long vacation in Italy with his wife, Deborah Roberts.

Meanwhile, Weekend Today‘s Laura Jarrett has filled in for Savannah Guthrie since Thursday, August 21. On Monday, Melvin stated that Jarrett would be replacing Guthrie for the whole week. The reason for Guthrie’s absence was not shared, though she shared pics and clips of herself and her husband, Michael Feldman, attending the US Open via her Instagram Story on Sunday, August 24, and Monday.

Is your pet getting anxious when left alone? Vet shares 5 tips to ease their separation anxiety

by jummy84 August 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Ever happen that just as you are about to leave for work, your pet lets out sad whimpers, pawing at you pitifully? That little look can make your morning commute to work feel like the world’s toughest farewell. And this isn’t just another mischievous antic, it’s real. Your furry companions do feel anxiety, especially when you leave. And the cases of pets with separation anxiety are more so today.

ALSO READ: Do you have a large breed dog? Vet shares one of the biggest health challenges they may face and 3 major warning signs

Dr Swathi Hareendran, Veterinary Expert at Supertails, told HT Lifestyle the reason for this rising stress in pets.

“We’re seeing a growing number of young pets, especially dogs adopted during the pandemic, struggle with being left alone even for short durations. Their entire sense of routine was built around constant human presence, so a sudden shift can feel overwhelming. The key is not to punish the behaviour, but to build their confidence gradually.”

It’s easy to feel guilty, blaming yourself for not being a good pet parent, especially when you see your furry friend looking sad. But the vet shared a reassuring perspective. Dr Hareendran said, “Separation anxiety isn’t a reflection of poor parenting; it’s a natural response from animals deeply bonded to their humans.”

If leaving home without your pet feels stressful because they get so anxious, check out these five tips shared by Dr Hareendran that may help improve the situation:

1. Practice short separations before the big exit

  • Start small by leaving your pet alone in a room for just 10–15 minutes, then gradually extend the time.
  • This slow, consistent exposure helps build trust.
  • As your dog learns that you always return, their panic cycle begins to ease.
  • Avoid over-the-top goodbyes or dramatic reunions; these only heighten emotional spikes. Think of it as emotional strength training: consistency builds confidence.
  • Over time, your pet starts associating alone time with calm, not fear.

2. Leave behind a sensory comfort zone

Give your pet a comfy blanket so they feel emotionally safe.(Shutterstock)

  • A worn T-shirt with your scent, a calming playlist, or a familiar blanket can act as security anchors. For pets, especially dogs and cats, rely heavily on scent to feel secure.
  • Your smell offers comfort in your absence, much like a baby’s blankie. These familiar cues create a sense of emotional safety, helping them shift from clinginess to calm.

3. Schedule calm before you exit

  • A lot of pet parents rush out after a quick walk or feeding, but your dog’s mental state at the time of departure matters. High-energy exits can worsen anxiety.
  • Engage in a calming activity gentle play, sniff walks, or treat puzzles, before you leave.
  • The goal is to help your dog settle into a relaxed headspace, so your exit feels less abrupt and more natural.

4. Give them toys

Interactive toys help to keep pets active and less anxious.(Shutterstock)

A mentally busy dog is a less anxious dog. Pet parents can choose these toys that satisfy natural urges:

  • Treat-dispensing toy: Keeps pets engaged by making them work for rewards, reducing boredom and stress.
  • Lick mat: Mimics self-soothing behaviour and calms pets through repetitive licking.
  • Snuffle mat: Encourages natural foraging instincts, providing mental stimulation and distraction.
  • Interactive puzzle toy: Boosts cognitive activity and keeps pets busy in your absence.

● Scented chew toys: Infused with familiar scents or flavours to offer comfort and a sense of safety.

These products not only fight boredom but also reduce anxiety-driven behaviours like excessive barking or destructive chewing.

5. Consider a companion or sitter (if the distress persists)

  • For pets that don’t respond to solo training, temporary solutions like a dog-walker, sitter, or trusted friend checking in mid-day can help.
  • Cats may benefit from a second feline friend, but only after proper introductions.

The vet, however, cautioned that while your pet may throw a tantrum when you are about to leave, anxiety often shows up in more concerning physical signs. She said, “Anxiety can manifest in real physical symptoms like diarrhoea, vomiting, or skin issues.” In other words, pet anxiety is real and can even physically affect their health. This is why if their separation anxiety still continues, it is advised to see a vet to prevent the problem from getting worse.

Geriatrician shares 4 tips for older adults to improve mental health: From solving puzzles to doing meditation | Health

by jummy84 August 23, 2025

Updated on: Aug 23, 2025 08:09 pm IST

Mental health needs to be supported with healthy habits to ensure overall wellbeing in older adults.

Mental health is closely connected to physical health, with factors like the gut-brain axis making it even more prominent. On top of that, as one ages, mental wellness can decline due to stress from major life events, such as the death of a spouse, chronic illness or retirement. Along with this, old age also carries the natural risks of cognitive decline. All these make taking care of mental health during old age a non-negotiable priority.

To address the concerns of old age mental wellness, Dr Prasun Chatterjee, Chief of Geriatric Medicine at Artemis Hospitals, shared with HT Lifestyle how to keep the mind healthy and resilient during old age.

He said, “Taking care of our mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical health as we get older. A healthy mind keeps older people independent, active, and happy. Small, regular efforts can make a big difference in helping seniors. Every stress kills some important memory cells, so managing stress in middle age and later life is very important for a healthy mind. ”

Here are 4 tips he shared for older adults for better mental health:

1. Stay mentally active:

Solve puzzles to keep your brain active.(Shutterstock)

  • Stay mentally active by reading, doing puzzles, playing memory games, or learning new things. This will keep your brain sharp.
  • Doing things that make your mind work can slow down cognitive decline and help your memory.

2. Maintain social connections:

  • Being alone and lonely can be bad for your mental health. Talk to family, friends, or community groups on a regular basis.
  • Being social makes you feel better, lowers anxiety, and helps keep you from getting depressed.

3. Put your physical health first:

Stay physically active with yoga and stretching exercises.(Shutterstock)

  • Eating well, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly all have a direct effect on how your brain works.
  • Walking, doing yoga, or light strength training are all good for your brain because they increase blood flow to it. This helps with memory and thinking.

4. Practice mindfulness and relaxation:

  • This helps you clear your mind when you’re stressed or anxious.
  • Meditation, deep breathing, or gentle hobbies like gardening can help you relax, focus better, and feel better emotionally.

Cancer survivor shares why he never eats breakfast: ‘I’ve done intermittent fasting every single day for over 15 years’ | Health

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of eating and voluntary fasting, focusing on when you eat rather than what you eat. It can offer health benefits including improved insulin sensitivity, reduced inflammation, and potential protection against certain metabolic diseases, while also supporting weight management.

Cancer survivor reveals why he chose to skip breakfast for over 15 years, after cancer diagnosis.(Pexel)

Women’s health coach Dilan, who is a 10 year cancer survivor shared why he chose to follow intermittent fasting every single day for over 15 years – and it is not in order to lose weight or internet trends. He explains that it was a way of giving his body the rest it desperately needed. In an Instagram post from July 29, the health coach revealed how not eating breakfast helped his cancer journey.

Also Read | 25 year old with stage 4 cancer shares why he never eats 3 hours before sleep: ‘Your body needs rest, not digestion’

A wake-up call after cancer

Dilan rejects the common belief that constant snacking or eating every 3 hours boosts metabolism, saying: “Because I learned (the hard way) what happens when the body never gets a break.” He further explained, “When you’re constantly feeding, your body is constantly digesting.”

His journey into fasting was not by choice – a cancer diagnosis forced him to reevaluate everything about his lifestyle, including food, stress and sleep. Reassessing his lifestyle choices made him realize that the body needs time to heal, which only happens when you stop interrupting it. Constantly ingesting food gets the body stuck in digestion mode, never getting the opportunity to repair.

What happens during fasting?

Dilan explains, “When you fast, even just for part of the day, something powerful kicks in. It’s called autophagy.” Autophagy is the body’s fundamental process for self-degradation, where cells break down and recycle their own damaged or unnecessary components. Dubbing it as ‘your cells literally start cleaning house’, the fitness coach further elaborated that when damaged cells are eliminated, inflammation drops and hormonal balance is restored, and the body gets a break.

Constant eating can backfire

Most people start consuming food the moment they wake up and keep eating until they go to bed, which according to Dilan, leaves little room for cellular repair, contributing to fatigue and inflammation. “You don’t need to fear hunger,” he stresses, “You need to fear what happens when your body never gets the chance to rest.”

For him, intermittent fasting is not a quick fix or a trendy diet – it is a sustainable way of life built on respect for his body and its potential to heal. After surviving cancer, fasting became his tool for balance, resilience, and long-term health.

Hostage creator confirms season 2 hopes and shares how show could evolve

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Having ended with Sylvie’s (Isobel Akuwudike) surprise murder of Shagan (Martin McCann), the series then pans to a three-month flash-forward with Abigail (Suranne Jones) calling a surprise general election.

She does so in order to foster a more trusting relationship with the British public and it is clearly a decision her team and family are both behind. But ending Hostage in such a way surely opens up the potential for more.

We asked series creator Matt Charman about a possible Hostage season 2 and it’s something he would be keen to explore.

Chatting exclusively to RadioTimes.com, Charman revealed: “Look, I would love to tell more of this story, partly because I love writing for Suranne. But I also think there’s something really exciting about who she might go up against next. What her next opposite number might be, you know?

“Yeah, if we were lucky enough, I’d love to take this story on.”

Julie Delpy as Vivienne and Suranne Jones as Abigail in Hostage. Des Willie/Netflix

When asked if season 2 would seek to replicate another hostage situation (as per the title of the show), Charman said: “Well, ‘hostage’ means different things. When I think about the show, I don’t really think about Alex, I think more about the two leaders, I think of Suranne and Julie’s characters.

“They’re the hostages, they’re the ones being held and they’re the ones that are being blackmailed. So, it’s really about riffing on that word ‘hostage’, what does it mean to be under someone else’s control? So I think that’s where I would kind of explore further.”

Would a future season of Hostage include Jones once again? “I love working with Suranne, I’d do anything with her,” Charman added. “So yeah, for me, that would be fun.”

Read more:

The series marks Jones’s first stint on Netflix, not only leading the cast of the new five-parter but also serving as an executive producer.

With a general election being called in the Hostage finale, we could find Abigail re-elected in a potential season 2 or she may have forged an entirely new political career path for herself.

Either way, it would be interesting to see how the word ‘hostage’ could factor into any future episodes.

Charman also teased to RadioTimes.com that it would be “fun to explore” the impact of Sylvie’s decision to shoot Shagan.

He said: “It was completely intentional around Sylvie because I think, truthfully, those ripples are… they never stop.

“If you do that, if you’re in a situation where you do something that completely crosses a line as a human being, there’s no end to that trauma or that sense of who am I now, who was I before? That would be fun to explore, what that does to a person as they enter adulthood.”

Harvard and Stanford-certified gastroenterlogist Dr. Saurabh Sethi has shared 10 breakfast combos for a Mediterranean diet along with their health benefits.

Did you know that following a Mediterranean diet can be highly beneficial for your overall wellbeing? Based on the traditional diet culture of people from Crete, Greece, and Southern Italy, the Mediterranean diet focuses on whole, minimally-processed plant-based foods and healthy fats like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, with extra virgin olive oil as the main source of fat. It includes sources of protein like fish, poultry, and dairy, which is eaten moderately, while red meat and sweets are consumed occasionally. It is packed with health benefits that reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
