[Warning: The below contains spoilers for Deadliest Catch Season 21]
At the start of the August 29 episode of Deadliest Catch, Captain Keith Colburn spoke about the danger factor of the job and reflected on losing friends over his storied career. Perhaps none knows this more at the moment than Jake Anderson.
During the episode the Titan Explorer captain expressed frustration at his lack of progress. He received a call from his Uncle John Mavar, who was checking in with his nephew. Members of the family were having dinner on what would have been Jake’s Uncle Nick Mavar’s birthday. “It has been a lot harder than I thought,” Jake said. John said the best way to honor him was to catch king crab. Nick was a regular on the Discovery Channel series almost 100 episodes across much of the show’s run.

Nick died of a heart attack in Crystal Bay, Alaska on June 13, 2024. Jake found out about his relative during his son Cadence’s birthday. This news hit him hard considering it was Nick who Jake credited with helping through addiction and got him started in the crabbing industry. “It’s the biggest gift I have ever been given,” Jake said. “My Uncle Nick picked me up and helped save my life.” With the passing weighing on his mind, Jake knew he had to move forward with the task at hand. He looked to move northeast and a canyon area, which has been where crabs go in to hide from the tides and currents. There were four or five days left until an offloading deadline.
Jake was trying to organize a memorial and began reaching out to other captains. First was Sig Hansen, who was working through his own issues on the Northwestern. Sig met with crew member and son-in-law Clark Pederson to work through a ledge and ridge that were impeding their crab numbers. They looked to create a counterweight to pull the pots and tighten up the line. Sig also had Nick on his mind and felt his presence. He ended up working through the problem and received a big score.

The Wizard had around 40,000 pounds before drop off. Keith Colburn bet the farm on the one space. However, the hot-headed captain needed to figure out why he wasn’t getting the results he wanted. He stepped out to find new bait and old bait were on top of each other. This led to a shouting match between Keith and his brother Monte over the fish issue.
Jake rang Keith in the middle of their argument to talk about Nick. Keith was on board for any kind of tribute. He got emotional about the call and told Monte they had to get things right. It got them both thinking how there are more important things than what they were arguing about. The call put things in perspective. Keith told “Mouse” he never thanked him for saving his life after his medical emergency suffered onboard last season. The two embraced. An emotional moment for the brothers. Keith said, “I don’t say I love you enough. I don’t say thank you enough to my brother. I have to start remembering that.”
Elsewhere, the Aleutian Lady were in the midst of a storm to work through. Co-captains Sophia “Bob” Nielsen and Rick Shelford heard thunderous sounds. Rick went down to investigate and found out the pump three shut off and wouldn’t turn back on. There were more than a quarter of a million dollars that could be lost due to a slack tank in the middle of the storm. The crew needed to get water back into the tank pronto. Rick noticed the breaker was tripped, even though the alarm didn’t go off. The pump was working and the breaker reset but dead crab was a real concern. They had to offload quickly to find out what kind of damage was done. Offloading out in the sea with boats rocking was easier said than done. Swells were coming on strong, but they fulfilled their mission. Luckily, not much was lost.
Jake put out a call on the radio to honor his Uncle Nick. The other captains listened in with tears flowing throughout. “If anyone wants to take a moment to say a prayer, my family would really appreciate it, “Jake added. Keith said his prayer for the fallen shipmate and tolled the bell to mark Nick’s “final watch.” Jake fired off a pot with his name and years of life on it. Sig and crew shared a drink. Keith led off fireworks with clips shown from Nick’s time on the show. A heartwarming scene.

Caitlyn Jenner is sharing an update on her grief.
The 75-year-old has spoken publicly for the first time about the death of her friend Sophia Hutchins, who died in July in an ATV accident.
“Recently my good friend Sophia passed away in a tragic accident,” Caitlyn said during a recent appearance on Fox. “But for the last seven weeks, I’ve been dealing with death, and it’s so difficult.”
The Olympian then reflected on the August 27 shooting at Minneapolis’ Annunciation Catholic School, which killed students Fletcher Merkel, 8, and Harper Moyski, 10, and left many others wounded.
“So when this happened, it really hit me hard,” Caitlyn said of the devastating attack. “Because here I am dealing with my grief, and I just can’t even imagine parents who dropped their kid off at school and, like that father just said, ‘I’ll never get a chance to talk to him again.’ That is I just so horrible.”
She continued, “And I’ve been dealing with grief, and these people have a long road ahead of them, and they’re going to be dealing with grief.”

Hayley Williams of Paramore has released a new solo album comprised of the 17 tracks shared earlier this summer and the new bonus song “Parachute.” Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party is out now on streaming services, with physical releases arriving on November 7 via Post Atlantic—Williams’ own label, started after her 20-year contract with Atlantic ended—and distributed by Secretly Distribution. Listen to the new album below.
Since granting the title track with a music video, Williams has also shared a visual for “Glum,” directed by AJ Gibboney and Zac Farro, which you can watch below. Williams and Daniel James wrote, played, and recorded most instruments on Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, with additional help longtime collaborators Brian Robert Jones and Joey Howard. Jim-E Stack also contributed to “True Believer.”
Back in 2020, Williams made her solo debut with the full-length album Petals for Armor. She followed it up with the three-track Petals for Armor: Self-Serenades EP that same year and Flowers for Vases / Descansos in 2021. She described the latter LP as “a prequel, or some sort of detour between parts 1 and 2 of Petals.” Afterward, Paramore wrote and released their fifth studio album as a band, This Is Why, in 2023.

‘Y&R’ Star Tracey Bregman Recalls Getting ‘Death Threats’ for Bullying Beth Maitland on Show
by jummy84
written by jummy84
Tracey Bregman went through some tough times during her early days on The Young and the Restless.
Bregman opened up about the backlash she’s received over the years for playing villain-turned-fan favorite Lauren Fenmore on the Tuesday, August 26, episode of CBS’s Soapy podcast. “Oh, yes. I did. … And then having to be mean to Beth Maitland, I mean, come on,” she recalled.
Bregman stated that having to be mean to Maitland’s Traci Abbott on the show was “very difficult,” as the two actresses are good friends. “And I knew, because we were so close, how she was really feeling about a lot of things,” Bregman said. “And it was a story that was kind of based on her being a little overweight and being conscious about that. And then, I had to say the worst things to her, and Beth will tell you that I cried more than she did over it because I could barely get it out sometimes.”
On the flip side, Bregman said she and Maitland also shared “fun times” while filming, particularly when their characters got into a “physical fight” over Don Diamont‘s Brad Carlton. “But I will tell you, it was a double-edged sword, playing the mean girl, because I would get death threats and people tried to run me off the freeway. It was bad,” she stated. “There were some bad parts of it that I never really talked about, actually. I’ve never really talked about it.”

When asked if she ever went to the show’s producers to complain about her character’s actions, Bregman said, “I didn’t because it was also an extraordinary story for us to play as actors.”
Y&R alum Greg Rikaart said he also worked through similar struggles during his time playing Kevin Fisher on the CBS soap opera. “My experience and my belief on playing a quote-unquote bad guy is that there has to be some vulnerability and humanity underneath the mean thing that is being said or the mean thing that’s being done,” the Soapy podcast cohost shared. “And you having that is probably what made the audience not hate Lauren the way they maybe should have because she was doing these bad things.”
Bregman’s onscreen husband, Christian LeBlanc, also got off to a villainous start playing Michael Baldwin on Y&R. Like Rikaart, LeBlanc said there’s more to antagonists than their not-so-nice behavior.
Noting that he’s been asked whether he prefers to play “a bad guy or a good guy,” LeBlanc shared, “My answer is always, I’d like to play a human person, because there’s always the one who does the bad things for a good reason, and the good things for a bad reason.”

He continued, “That’s the heart of it. And if you’re playing that full-bodied human being, there is a chance for redemption, because that’s part of the human condition.”

Hollywood is mourning the loss of one of their own.
Verónica Echegui—known for her role as Marta in Apple TV+’s Love You to Death—died on Aug. 24 at Madrid’s 12 de Octubre University Hospital where she was being treated for cancer, according to Variety. She was 42.
The Spanish actress kickstarted her career back in 2006 when Spanish director Bigas Luna cast her in 2006’s My Name is Juani. And though the movie drew in mixed reviews at the time, Echegui went on to receive her first Spanish Academy nomination for her remarkable performance.
In the years following, she also received nominations for her work in 2009’s My Prison Yard, 2012’s Katmandu and 2022’s My Heart Goes Boom, as well as winning the Best Fiction Short Film award for her directorial debut, Tótem Loba, in 2022.
After the tragic news of her passing broke, Echegui’s friends and colleagues—including Spanish actor Antonio Banderas—expressed their heartbreak on social media.

Angela Simmons Recalls Being ‘Numb’ After The Death Of Her Son’s Father: ‘It Changed Me As A Person’ [VIDEO]
Angela Simmons recently got candid about how she felt after the de@th of her child’s father.
While visiting her brother JoJo Simmons’ For Good podcast, Angela opened up about the heartbreak she experienced after Sutton Tennyson was $hot and k*lled outside his home in Atlanta back in 2018.
Though they were no longer together at the time, Angela admitted she still felt “numb,” especially at the thought of no longer having him as a co-parent. She said:
“It changed me as a person. You question everything. You say, ‘I didn’t have a child to raise him alone… to raise him alone at that capacity is, like, another level.’”
Angela went on to say that “God, prayer,” and “therapy” ultimately helped her move forward after the loss so she could continue caring for their son, Sutton Jr., who turns 9 next month.
Can you relate to Angela’s reflection on losing a co-parent?
Kerry Katona “didn’t fully grieve” after the death of her ex-husband George Kay.
Kerry Katona has opened up about the death of her ex-husband George Kay
The Atomic Kitten star was left devastated when her former partner – the father of her 11-year-old daughter DJ – died in 2019 after suffering a drug overdose at a hotel but she didn’t have time to process her emotions because she had to continue working to support her five children.
In her column for OK! magazine, Kerry heaped praised on fellow pop star Cheryl for fronting a new beauty campaign almost a year after the death of her ex Liam Payne, the father of her eight-year-old son Bear. Kerry wrote: “Cheryl has returned to work for the first time since Liam Payne’s death with a new Nivea campaign – and I’m glad to see her back.
“It can be tough knowing what to do after losing someone, I’ve been in the position of losing your child’s father and it’s awful.”
Kerry went on to add of her own experience: “I kept working through that time because I had four other children and no support, so I had no choice.
“But I do think that meant I didn’t fully grieve or deal with it as I should have, so it was the right decision for Cheryl to take a step back.”
Kerry previously admitted she felt a lot of “anger” after George’s death because his struggle with drugs left their daughter without a dad.
She told The Sun newspaper: “George is my baby’s daddy and she’s never, ever going to see him again and I’ve got so much anger towards him for that. I’m so angry.
“You become very, very selfish when you have an addiction. You don’t think about other people, and sometimes even your flesh and blood isn’t enough, and that’s really selfish.
“He’s going to be missing out on so many wonderful things, because that kid is one amazing kid …
“Then in the other respect … I’m not happy, I’m not glad, but I never want her to witness the things I had to witness with him … I don’t want DJ to go through that, I don’t want DJ to have to witness it, that’s why I know I will never touch another drug again in my life.”
‘American Idol’ Music Supervisor and Husband’s Cause of Death Revealed
by jummy84
written by jummy84
Over a month after American Idol supervisor Robin Kaye and her musician husband, Thomas Deluca, were found dead in their Los Angeles residence, a cause of death has been revealed.
According to a death certificate obtained by People, Kaye and Deluca, both 70, died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds that they sustained on July 10. Their deaths were listed as a homicide.
Although their death certificates report that the couple sustained their fatal injuries, which caused them to die within minutes of each other, on July 10, their date of death was originally recorded as July 14. People stated that the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office previously told the outlet that the couple was pronounced dead on July 14, which is the date authorities say Kaye and Deluca were found dead in their Encino, California, home following a welfare check call.
The outlet also noted that although Kaye’s death certificate, which was issued on July 23, originally stated that no autopsy was performed, documents show that autopsies were conducted for both Kaye and Deluca and used to determine that cause of death. People stated that the notation was corrected by an amendment filed on Aug. 4.
Three days after police found the couple’s bodies, Raymond Boodarian, 22, was charged with two counts of murder with enhancements for killing the couple while committing a robbery, intentionally using a firearm, and committing multiple murders. Boodarian also faces a burglary charge.
Last week, Boodarian appeared in court wearing a “suicide gown” Wednesday and was deferred to mental health court for evaluation. A judge ordered Boodarian back into custody without bail and set a Sept. 3 hearing in mental health court. He said any arraignment on Boodarian’s murder charges would have to wait until “he’s deemed mentally competent.”

Officials say Boodarian was burglarizing their Encino residence when the couple arrived home from a shopping trip and encountered him on July 10. He allegedly shot the couple multiple times with a gun located in the home and then fled.
“In a matter of moments, this couple was senselessly killed in their own home as they returned from the grocery store,” L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said in a previous statement. “This tragic shooting has shaken a valley community and the notion that home should be our safe sanctuary.”
