Sam Keeley Breaks Down Jayson v. Robbie and the Ending

by jummy84 October 20, 2025
written by jummy84

[This story contains major spoilers from Task’s series finale.]

Even Sam Keeley is surprised that his Task character lasted as long as he did.

The Irish actor’s villainous role of Jayson Wilkes — the President of the Dark Hearts’ Delaware County motorcycle club chapter — has felt the walls closing in on him all season. Robbie Prendergast (Tom Pelphrey) and Cliff Broward (Raúl Castillo) have recently been undermining his outfit’s fentanyl trade at every turn. Consequently, Perry Durazo (Jamie McShane), the father figure who took Jayson in as a troubled teenager and championed his rise to power, is being pressured by the Dark Hearts’ governing body, the Mother Club, to eliminate Jayson.

Perry then scrambles to protect his surrogate son, but in doing so, he discovers that Jayson killed Robbie’s brother, Billy, over his affair with Eryn (Margarita Levieva), Jayson’s romantic partner and mother of his two children. Perry subsequently confirms that Eryn has been aiding Robbie and Cliff’s revenge plot to destabilize Jayson’s reign in the Dark Hearts. Along the way, Jayson sets a trap to catch and ultimately kill Cliff, adding further fuel to Robbie’s quest for vengeance.

The concluding episodes of creator Brad Ingelsby’s follow-up to his HBO smash hit, Mare of Easttown, essentially became a duel between Jayson and Robbie over the remaining stolen fentanyl and any ill-gotten gains it yields. Robbie wants to sell the product to provide a better future for his two motherless children, while Jayson wants it for himself so he can buy back good standing with the Mother Club and hopefully stay alive to raise his own two motherless children.

The Salli Richardson Whitfield-directed sixth episode is when the blood feud came to a head, and despite everyone that Jayson had already taken from Robbie, he still emerged victorious in a fatal showdown.

“I had no idea that was coming, and I had no idea [Jayson] would be responsible for even more pain in Robbie’s life and death. So it was a surprise to me as well,” Keeley tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Jayson may have twisted a knife into Robbie’s gut, but Robbie still managed to gain the upper hand by having Jayson and co. chase after a duffel bag of newspapers, not fentanyl. Prior to his death, Robbie sold the Dark Hearts’ fentanyl for a handsome sum that his niece, Maeve (Emilia Jones), could use to raise his kids far away from Delaware County. In the Jeremiah Zagar-helmed finale, Jayson still made a last-ditch effort to recover the funds at Maeve’s home, but Grasso (Fabien Frankel), the dirty FBI task force member who’d been Jayson’s informant all along, finally put him down.

“At that point, you’re seeing a very desperate man. Retrieving that money was a way to provide for his family and avenge his own honor and stay good with the club,” Keeley says. “Robbie won the war, and he checkmated everybody.”

Before his own demise, Jayson also ended the life of his surrogate father, Perry. He received a phone call that Eryn’s dead body was found in Bangor Quarry with Perry’s signature chain wrapped around her hand. In episode five, Perry confronted Eryn over the chaos she’s created for the Dark Hearts, and when she took off running and screamed for help, he strangled her into silence.

So the question that remains is whether Jayson would’ve also condemned Eryn to death for her second betrayal that effectively made him a marked man in the eyes of the Mother Club.

“To be honest, I hadn’t gone there in my head, in terms of what would’ve happened if Jayson had to deal with Eryn himself. He’d probably do it, wouldn’t he?” Keeley asks. “[Perry] took away Jayson’s choice for either outcome, but he also took away an essential part of his family unit. So Perry fell into Jayson’s crosshairs in a way that Jayson justified to himself as, ‘You live by the sword, you die by the sword. You’ve taken this from me, and it’s a life for a life.’”

Below, during a recent spoiler conversation with THR, Keeley also discusses the resources he relied on in order to create the character of Jayson.

The assumption throughout the season is that Robbie Prendergast (Tom Pelphrey) would avenge his brother Billy and eventually his best friend Cliff by killing Jayson. But he, too, lost his life to Jayson. Before you received the sixth script, did you also assume that Robbie would inevitably take Jayson’s life?

I got three scripts to begin with during the whole auditioning process, and by the end of episode three, I was unsure as to what the future held in store for Jayson. But by the end of episode four, once we got into shooting it, I saw that horrific ending [with Cliff] up close in the warehouse. That’s when I thought, “There’s no way people can let this guy live. He seems to be the center of pain for everybody, certainly for Robbie, but also for Maeve.”

He’s in this really weird spot. He is a family man who loves the people around him, but because he goes to great and very violent lengths to protect that circle, a lot of people suffer as a result. In terms of the big showdown in episode six, I had no idea that was coming, and I had no idea he would be responsible for even more pain in Robbie’s life and death. So it was a surprise to me as well.

It’s one of those scenarios where Jayson won the battle against Robbie, but Robbie won the war against Jayson.

Absolutely. Robbie knew what he was doing when he went into the woods with the bag of what we thought was fentanyl. It turned out to be newspaper clippings of his dream scenario in Canada. I’d be curious to speak to Tom about it now, as well as Brian Davids Brad [Ingelsby] and directors Salli [Richardson-Whitfield] and Jeremiah [Zagar]. But I wonder if Robbie was resigned to losing life. I don’t think he necessarily anticipated that the FBI were going to be there, but he certainly anticipated that the Dark Hearts were going to be there. And it’s quite poetic and beautiful that he would give up his life for the greater good. So, in that sense, I totally agree with you. Robbie won the war, and he checkmated everybody.

Sam Keeley’s Jayson and Jamie McShane’s Perry in Task.

Peter Kramer/HBO

In the finale, Jayson kills his Dark Hearts mentor and father figure, Perry (Jamie McShane). It was in response to Perry killing his girlfriend Eryn over her latest betrayal. Does this imply that Jayson would not have killed Eryn himself for her helping Robbie and Cliff? Or did he kill Perry for taking either choice away from him?

That’s a really good question. With regards to Eryn’s fate in Jayson’s hands, oof. He’s a dark character. He’s got this incredible ability to cause destruction through his rage. But to be honest, I hadn’t gone there in my head, in terms of what would’ve happened if Jayson had to deal with Eryn himself. He’d probably do it, wouldn’t he?

I didn’t want him to be a cookie-cutter evil guy. I wanted him to have a code of honor. And when that honor is besmirched or betrayed by even the people who are closest to him — like Eryn’s lover, Billy — it’s met with destruction and revenge of the most brutal kind. So, yeah, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that she could have lost her life either way. As to how that would’ve gone down, only Brad can enlighten us there.

But in terms of killing Perry, that blade cut in a very specific way. As you so eloquently put it, he took away Jayson’s choice for either outcome, but he also took away an essential part of his family unit. She’s [basically] his bride. And in this tiered code of honor that he has, that goes beyond everything for him. So Perry fell into Jayson’s crosshairs in a way that Jayson justified to himself as, “You live by the sword, you die by the sword. You’ve taken this from me, and it’s a life for a life.”

And as we saw at the end of episode four with Cliff, he doesn’t always think through his actions. A lot of the times his rage can take over, and we’ve seen that happen to him time and time again in the show.

Sam Keeley’s Jayson and Margarita Levieva’e Eryn in Task.

Peter Kramer/HBO

Jayson still stayed with her after he killed her lover, Billy. So I did wonder if he gets some sort of twisted satisfaction by punishing everyone except her. But Eryn being the mother of his two kids is certainly justification for why he might continually spare her.

Yeah, absolutely. There’s a sense of denial coming from him as well. He’s willing to swallow a lot and let a lot of things slide in order to keep his family unit intact and protect the things that he loves. But to essentially hold this woman who you claim to love hostage — in her own home and against her will, and kill her lover — it doesn’t get much darker than that.

Even up till the end when Grasso (Fabien Frankel) shoots him, Jayson was still dead set on recovering the drug money. Did he figure it was his best and only chance to re-ingratiate himself to the Mother Club and potentially stay alive for his kids?

Yeah, at that point, you’re seeing a very desperate man. You’re seeing him at the end of his tether. There’s the financial benefit, but I think you’re right in the sense that this would be a way for him to stay within the Dark Hearts and keep his identity and to continue on with his vision and his goal. In my mind, his secret goal was always to move up the ranks and be part of the Mother Club eventually.

It’s also the principle. He’s a man of principles. He’s somebody who doesn’t like to be betrayed. And as we’ve seen and heard, when someone makes a public show of him in a very negative way, he doesn’t respond very well. His reputation and his identity are everything, and that is through the club. Without the club, he’s just a guy. He’d have to go get a regular job and partake in the world just like the rest of us. And I don’t know if he fits into that mold.

A character like Jayson belongs in a different time. He doesn’t really fit in with the rules of modern society, and the club allows him a way to act on his basic needs and instincts. So retrieving that money was a way to stay in that and provide for his family and avenge his own honor and stay good with the club.

Sam Keeley’s Jayson in Task.

Peter Kramer/HBO

This industry is smaller than people think, and there’s often a belief that actors from the same small country all know each other. So did you and Alison Oliver ever cross paths before this in Ireland?

No, I met her on Task, but we have a lot of mutual friends in common. As you’ve just mentioned, the industries are small, but the Irish industry is particularly small. There’s not that many of us, and certainly, for those of us who are doing international work like most of us are now, we’ve met at some stage or another.

But myself and Alison had never actually crossed paths until we both got to Philadelphia, which was lovely. I was delighted when I saw her cast because she’s so unbelievably talented, and she’s so great in the show. So it was just nice having another Irish person around to vibe off of and enjoy the moment of being on this incredible job together.

Did you vent to each other about the transition from Irish to the Delco accent?

She loved it! She was amazing at it as well. She took to it like a duck to water. But I found it tricky; I’m not going to lie. It was a hard accent for me to nail, because I didn’t have any context for the accent. I had been working on it for three months prior with Susanne Sulby, our dialect coach, and she had helped Kate Winslet out on Mare of Easttown, Brad’s previous show. So I knew I was in good hands, and those three months were great. I also had incredible references and recordings of people from Philly.

But it didn’t fully click for me until I got my boots on the ground. I went out and talked to people. I hung out in bars and restaurants, and I would chat to people to get the cadence of the action and the rhythm of the city. So that’s when it finally made sense for me, and it worked out great. But leading up to that, I was like, “I don’t know if I’ll be able to do this.” (Laughs.)

Jayson is responsible for Lizzie’s (Oliver) death as well, but even if he slammed the brakes or swerved, there wasn’t enough reaction time to change her fate, was there?

No, absolutely not, especially in a vehicle of that size and at that speed. The timing of that is so brutal and so awful to watch. It’s just as she steps out, and she is in a total blind spot [on top of being temporarily deafened]. So even if Jayson had the best intentions in the world to not add more bodies to his count, I don’t think there was a whole lot he could have done in that situation.

I read a piece about director Jeremiah Zagar’s childhood friend, Carim Mow, who spent time in a biker gang and consulted on the show. Did you lean on that guy quite a bit?

Absolutely. In the buildup before we got to Philly, I had several conversations with Carim about the life. It was a combination of Carim and several books that I ended up reading. I read two books by Sonny Barger, who was a notorious president of The Hell’s Angels. I also read two books by Junior Ereckson, who was a notorious president of the Mongols. I then read Hunter S. Thompson’s book, Hell’s Angels. Then I read a book by George Christie as well, who was another notorious president of The Hell’s Angels.

So being able to have that context through literature and also corroborate with Carim was just unbelievably helpful. He was able to zero in on what was real and also what was current, because a lot of those books I read were from a bygone era of this culture. So Carim was able to help me close the distance and zero in on something that felt authentic and genuine to the time. So he was invaluable, and he’s a great guy.

A lot of the Sons of Anarchy actors caught the motorcycle bug from being in a fictional club. Did it grab you as well? Or does the fact that you’re doing this interview from inside a car suggest otherwise? [Note: Keeley made time for this interview while on the set of another production overseas.]

(Laughs.) I’ve certainly been bitten by the bug. You sit on one of those Harleys, and there’s no feeling quite like it. So I have restrained myself over the past 12 months by not buying a bike, and I think my partner and everybody else in my life is probably very thankful for that. (Laughs.) But I don’t think that bug is going to go away in my future. I love bikes, and I can ride. So it is something that I definitely see in my future as a leisurely kind of thing to do, and this show has definitely nudged me in that direction.

Sam Keeley’s Jayson, Jamie McShane’s Perry, Fabien Frankel’s Grasso and Mark Ruffalo’s Brandis in Task.

Decades from now, when you’re reminiscing about the making of Task, what day will you likely recall first?

There are too many to count because this is the single greatest professional experience I’ve had. Everybody from the ground up who worked on this job strived to make the best show possible. And I think you can see that on the screen.

My very first day with Jamie McShane certainly sticks out. We shot a very small scene from episode five where Jayson picks Perry up outside Donna’s house after he’s just killed Eryn. He gets in the car, and Jayson is like, “The fuck happened to you?” And he tries to hide his wounds and all that. So I remember being like, “Okay, here we go. We’re motoring. This is real.” And it just clicked the second they called to action. We all knew who we were. [Writer’s Note: Keeley’s pleasant demeanor is polar opposite of his character, and it was honestly a bit chilling to see him slip into Jayson for a moment during this answer.]

But another day that really jumps out at me is actually a night at Lefty’s Bar, which is where the Dark Hearts hang out. Everybody was playing pool, and it felt quite jovial and fun. The set decoration was incredible, and we were all smoking fake cigarettes and drinking fake beer while music was playing. And when they called action on that, I felt like I was one of the characters in the books that I had read to study for the role. It felt real, and I remember getting goosebumps on every part of my body, thinking, “Oh my God, this is my job. I’m getting paid to be here.” I believed it, and I bought everything about it. So Task was just filled with jaw-dropping moments like that day after day.

Daboo Malik Breaks Down in Emotional Weekend Ka Vaar Episode After Salman Khan Slams Amaal Malik For Throwing Farhana’s Plate

The latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 19 delivered high-voltage drama, emotional confrontations, and a reality check for several contestants. Host Salman Khan took center stage as he sternly reprimanded singer Amaal Malik for his aggressive behavior towards fellow housemate Farhana Bhatt, warning him that this was his final chance to correct his conduct.

Amaal Malik

The controversy erupted during a fiery captaincy task earlier in the week when Farhana Bhatt tore up a letter sent by co-contestant Neelam Giri’s parents to win the task. This led to an explosive reaction from Amaal Malik, who reportedly snatched food from Farhana’s plate, threw it across the room, and even broke the plate. The situation escalated further when Amaal allegedly made a disrespectful remark about Farhana’s mother, leaving the housemates and viewers outraged.

On the Weekend Ka Vaar stage, Salman Khan addressed the matter head-on and said, “God has given us our livelihood. Who gave you the right to go and snatch the plate from her? You targetted Farhana’s mother. Do you think you’re justified? Are you right? Consider this my last warning.” Salman’s words were sharp, direct, and carried the weight of finality, making it clear that such behavior would not be tolerated any further.

Amaal Malik

The episode turned even more emotional with the unexpected arrival of Daboo Malik, Amaal’s father and a respected musician. Overcome with emotion, Daboo addressed his son in front of everyone, tears welling up in his eyes ad said, “I’m a father, and I’ve come to tell you that you’re fighting, but don’t let your tongue go below the belt, son. Don’t write on my forehead that you’re behaving this way.” Moved by his father’s words, Amaal broke down and apologized, admitting that his anger got the better of him and expressing deep regret for his actions.

Saweetie Taps In With Legal Threats To Former Associate

Earlier this month, Saweetie’s former associate, Maybach Mayy, took to social media spilling alleged details about Saweetie’s lifestyle and habits. And today, the ‘Icy’ rapper finally broke her silence. Saweetie took to her Instagram Story with a statement not only defending herself but also making it clear she’s ready to take legal action. And trust, she’s not here for the rumors running wild.

According to Saweetie, this woman was never her manager, as Mayback Mayy claimed — just someone introduced through family ties. She also shared that these “defamatory” claims are totally “false” and intended to damage her reputation. And just like that, legal action is officially in motion. When Saweetie’s name gets dragged, best believe she won’t be quiet — it’s giving lawsuits, receipts, and a whole lotta drama.

“The recent accusations made about me are false, defamatory, and deeply disturbing. These claims misrepresent the facts and are solely aimed at damaging my reputation,” reads Saweetie’s statement. “This person never managed me. She was simply introduced to me by family. Her motives are now obvious. I’ll let the lawyers take it from here.”

Folks immediately ran to The Shade Room comment section once the drama hit, and babyyy, the reactions are coming in hot. Some people are calling Maybach Mayy a clout chaser who’s just looking for a bag. While others admit her delivery was messy—but say they don’t think she’s lying. Meanwhile, many are warning folks to watch the energy around them, especially when fame hits.

One Instagram user, @amilllian, said, “A lot of artists could take notes from Saweetie. She don’t address sh*t unless it’s legally lol“

Accusations, Screenshots, & Shade? Maybach Mayy Isn’t Done

Recently, Saweetie’s former associate, Maybach Mayy, hopped on social media with a whole lotta accusations and zero chill. In a series of Instagram posts, she claimed the rapper owes her money, used rumored boo Jadon Sancho for cash, and straight-up iced her out after getting what she wanted. “I wanna make 1 thing clear… instead of paying me she fell in love w the client & told him not to pay me,” Mayy wrote. “Simple I want my money!” Mayy also alleged she was Saweetie’s road manager, claiming she booked her deals and stayed loyal until she got played.

But, sis didn’t stop there. Maybach Mayy shared alleged text messages and even accused Saweetie of dabbling in “coca*ne, witchcraft, & liquor” while calling her a “home wrecker.” The drama hit another level when Mayy claimed on IG Live that Sancho himself told her to air it all out online after she asked for the money. It’s giving messy, and social media has been eating it all the way up.

In the perpetually buzzing world of K-pop, gossip tends to live on of its own accord—and this time, CNBLUE member and actor Jung Yong Hwa was in the midst of wedding rumors. On October 15, a post on an online community went viral after saying that the 36-year-old celebrity was set to wed next year.

With no recent news of dating and his status thought to be unmarried, the rumour surprised fans, generating confusion and intrigue. The cryptic post was simple with the words, “My friend told me that Jung Yong Hwa will be married next year,” and soon spread through all social media platforms.

Faced with the whirlpool of rumors head-on, Jung Yong Hwa went on a livestream to reach out to fans and lay the speculations to rest. Speaking in his characteristic tranquil and sarcastic tone, he replied, “Normally, next year’s itinerary comes up by June. As it is now, my calendar for next year is already filled [with work]. I don’t see a ‘wedding’ on it.”

Brushing aside the rumors, he added, “No wedding on the agenda—so do stop DM’ing me with questions about it. It felt weird even to comment, so I kept my mouth shut.”

With this blunt remark, the singer conclusively refuted the rumors and calmed fans that he has no plans for marriage in the near future. He underscored that his priority at the moment is his hectic professional engagements for the rest of the year.

Jung Yong Hwa’s candid but lighthearted answer came as a welcome relief to fans, who had been spamming his inbox with messages. His blunt message has set the rumors straight, telling fans that not all online gossip must be taken seriously—particularly when it is presented without facts.

Salman Khan Breaks Silence on Dabangg Feud With Director: ‘You’re Destroying Yourself, Brother’

Salman Khan Breaks Silence on Dabangg Feud With Director: ‘You’re Destroying Yourself, Brother’

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Superstar Salman Khan chanced upon a recent Bigg Boss 19 Weekend Ka Vaar episode to deliver a fiery, direct response to the persistent allegations made by filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap, the director of the first Dabangg film.

Without naming him initially during a conversation with comedian Ravi Gupta, Salman addressed the controversy head-on, questioning Kashyap’s current professional standing in the industry.

“We have one more Dabangg person,” Salman began. “He even dragged Aamir [Khan] into this. During Weekend Ka Vaar last week, I asserted ‘Just do your work, nobody’s interested.’ Today, I want to ask again, ‘Did you get any work, brother?’”

Questioning Professional Conduct and Career Choices

Salman went on to criticize Kashyap’s public behavior, suggesting it’s detrimental to his career. “If you’re going to criticize everyone, people will not work with you. Now, the person you have named will not work with you, nor the people associated with the person,” he asserted.

He revealed that despite the friction, his team had offered Kashyap a film, which the director refused. “When we offered you a film, you said you wouldn’t do it.”

— Devil V!SHAL (@VishalRC007) October 12, 2025

While expressing how the allegations have personally hurt him, Salman emphasized that he still believes Kashyap is a talented filmmaker who should focus on his craft.

“The one thing that hurts me the most is that you are destroying yourself,” Salman shared. He then gave Kashyap blunt advice, urging him to prioritize his personal life and family. “If you want to get after someone, please go after your family or your brother (Anurag Kashyap). Or, love your brother, your parents, your wife. That’s the least you can do.”

He concluded his advice by encouraging the director to reconsider his current path: “I want to see you grow, you are a talented man. He is a good writer. Don’t go down this lane, take a u-turn from this highway.”

Responding to the ‘Fall to His Knees’ Remark

Salman also took the opportunity to respond to one of Kashyap’s most inflammatory recent remarks, where the director claimed Salman would soon “fall to his knees and even beg.”

Addressing the threat directly, the Sikandar actor stated: “Only God will take care of you. And friend, you talk about me going down on my knees, I go down on knees every morning but to pray.”

The Nature of Abhinav Kashyap’s Accusations

Abhinav Kashyap has been making various claims against Salman Khan for a while. He has alleged that the superstar took undue credit for Dabangg and was involved in manipulation within the industry.

Kashyap recently appeared on a podcast where he revisited an old incident from the set of Tere Naam, claiming that Salman made things so difficult for his brother, Anurag Kashyap, that Anurag was forced to walk away from the project.

Regarding Salman’s recent supportive comments about Anurag’s film Nishaanchi, Abhinav had scoffed at the praise. He had said, “It is written in Salman’s destiny that now he will lick our feet. I had called him a goon in an interview, and now he is trying to show that he is a big admirer of ours. The same Anurag Kashyap whom he harassed during Tere Naam… Now he will fall to his knees and even beg.” Salman’s Bigg Boss rant was his public counter to these specific attacks.

Neeraj Ghaywan breaks silence on Karan Johar's being trolled on remarks for Homebound
Bollywood

‘Disturbed’ Neeraj Ghaywan Breaks Silence On Karan Johar Being Trolled For Homebound Remarks

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Neeraj Ghaywan clarified that Karan Johar’s remarks about Homebound were taken out of context and expressed disappointment over the criticism he received for his comments. The filmmaker publicly supported Karan Johar after the latter faced backlash for his recent statements. Earlier this month, Karan mentioned that he now evaluates profitability with every project and questioned whether a film like Homebound could be made again. His comments sparked criticism online, with many accusing him of prioritising commercial interests over artistic integrity.

In an interview with Lallantop Cinema, Neeraj Ghaywan defended Karan, explaining the true intent behind his words. He conveyed his disappointment over the reactions to Karan’s remarks. Ghaywan said, “He has such a big production banner and is such a prominent producer that he doesn’t need to support a film like this for commercial reasons. He was fully aware that the film wouldn’t be a blockbuster or generate profits. But the emotional depth of the story moved him, and that’s why he chose to back it. He has always said he just wanted to be part of it in some way. Seeing people question his honesty and cast doubt on his intentions really hurts.”

He added, “Misquoting or misrepresenting what he said can completely demoralise him. It undermines his contribution to the film. I’m very disturbed by all this. It’s a significant moment — a major banner like his deciding to produce such a sensitive film with an independent filmmaker. We should be encouraging more such collaborations. Instead, if we react negatively, it will discourage future projects like this. I urge everyone to understand that his comments have been taken out of context.”

Neeraj further clarified that Karan’s remarks were purely from a business standpoint and that he never said he wouldn’t produce a film like Homebound again. He also credited Karan for giving him complete creative freedom during the film’s making.

What Karan Johar Said?

In a recent interview with Komal Nahta on his YouTube channel Game Changers, Karan Johar discussed his partnership with Adar Poonawalla. He said, “Now, you have to take every decision with profitability. It is very important to be profitable. We are a commercial enterprise. I made Homebound, which was critically acclaimed worldwide, but I can’t say if I’ll take such decisions in the future or not. I might feel upset, but I chose this project for a reason — growth. Growth comes from profit, and profit comes from profitability. I will always be artistic, but it’s essential to be commercial as well.”

‘Upset’ Karan Johar Says He Is Now Accountable For Profits, Might Not Make Films Like ‘Homebound’ Again
byu/WolfAffectionatefk inBollyBlindsNGossip

His comments drew criticism on social media. In response, on October 10, Karan shared an Instagram note urging people not to “misconstrue or misquote” his words. He wrote, “It was an academic conversation about the business of our films… I am and will always be exceptionally proud of Homebound. It will always hold a special place in our filmography as one of our finest and most sensitively directed works.”

About Homebound

Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Homebound premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025, where it received a nine-minute standing ovation. The film stars Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa in leading roles and was released in theatres on September 26, 2025. Deepika Padukone Breaks Silence on Her 8-hour Workday Demand

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Actress Deepika Padukone has spoken out after discussions emerged about her decision to request an eight-hour working day on sets, following her exit from Spirit and the Kalki 2898 AD sequel. In an interview with CNBC-TV18, she addressed the criticism and explained her reasoning behind the move.
Deepika noted that male actors in the Indian film industry have long been working similar schedules, but it has not drawn much attention. “By virtue of being a woman, if that’s coming across as being pushy or whatever, then so be it. But it is no secret that a lot of superstars, male superstars, in the Indian film industry, have been working for eight hours for years, and it’s never made headlines,” she said.

She added that many male actors work eight hours a day, Monday to Friday, often without working on weekends. “I don’t want to take names now and make this into a whole thing, but it is very commonly, publicly known that a lot of male actors have been working for eight hours a day for years,” Deepika explained.
Speaking about the larger industry, she reflected on its working culture. “Even though the Indian film industry is termed as an industry, we have never really worked like an industry. It is a very disorganised industry. I think it’s time we brought in some system into this culture,” she said.

Deepika exited Spirit reportedly because her request to limit her working hours so she could spend time with her daughter, Dua, was not met. Soon after, Vyjayanthi Movies confirmed that she would no longer be part of the Kalki 2898 AD sequel, noting that the decision followed “careful consideration” and that a film like Kalki requires a high level of “commitment.”
On the work front, Deepika has already started shooting for Siddharth Anand’s King, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan. She will also appear in Atlee’s upcoming project AA22xA6 alongside Allu Arjun. With these projects lined up, Deepika is moving forward while emphasizing the importance of structured work hours and balance in the industry, a conversation that continues to resonate with both actors and audiences.

Actor Deepika Padukone broke her silence after a row emerged over her demand for an 8-hour shift following her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2. Speaking with CNBC-TV18, Deepika shared how “male superstars” have been doing an 8-hour shift for years, but it “never made headlines.”

In the interview, Deepika reacted when she was told she was facing a lot of pushback for her decision. She said, “By virtue of being a woman, if that’s coming across as being pushy or whatever, then so be it. But it is no secret that a lot of superstars, male superstars, in the Indian film industry, have been working for eight hours for years, and it’s never made headlines.”

The actor found herself in a row after she exited Spirit, reportedly over wanting to work not more than eight hours a day during the shoot so that she could be with her daughter, Dua. However, her demands weren’t met, and she exited the film.

Recently, Vyjayanthi Movies announced that she is no longer a part of the Kalki 2898 AD sequel. In their statement, they said that they decided to part ways with Deepika after “careful consideration,” adding that a film like Kalki deserves a higher level of “commitment.”

About Deepika’s upcoming films

Deepika began her shooting for King just a few days after her exit from the Kalki 2898 AD sequel. Directed by Siddharth Anand, King stars Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan, among others. Deepika will star in Atlee’s upcoming film AA22xA6 alongside Allu Arjun.

Anu Malik BREAKS SILENCE On Amaal Mallik’s Abandonment Claims

by jummy84 October 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Amaal Mallik recently alleged that Anu Malik’s family abandoned him during the 2005 Mumbai floods. In response, Anu Malik dismissed these claims as false, calling them “a lie told 1,000 times” and advising not to waste energy reacting to such accusations. The composer, who has gained attention as one of the most talked-about contestants on Bigg Boss 19—known for opening up about depression and speaking candidly about conflicts—recalled the incident involving Malik’s family and his mother during the floods. He has now reacted strongly to his nephew’s allegations, calling them untrue.

Anu Malik REACTS To Amaal Mallik’s Abandonment Claims

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Anu Malik addressed the accusations, saying, “A lie told 1,000 times will never become the truth. One can’t waste energy reacting to everything.”

He also shared wisdom from his father, Sardar Malik, “My father always told me, never allow poison to churn in your mind. If you do, you’ll never be a good composer. People may hurt you, but they can’t take away your talent—that’s yours. I sit at my piano, create a new tune, and that’s my answer to the world.”

Anu Feels Unappreciated

The 64-year-old musician admitted feeling underappreciated for his contributions to the industry, saying, “I feel like I’ve been underused and underutilised. There’s still so much more I can give.”

Regarding the alleged abandonment, Malik explained, “We are two swords of the same empire; no one has a bigger heart than my father. When the Mumbai floods hit on July 26, 2005, I was about seven years old. Juhu is a low-lying area, so it was flooded. I was outside the gate, struggling and crying, with water up to my chest. I saw Malik’s family see me and lock their Mercedes, leaving me stranded. A friend of my father’s wife saw me and helped me into her car. I was waving, hoping for help, but instead of opening the door, she locked it. When I returned home and recounted what happened, it caused a huge scene.”(SIC)

Recently, Amaal Mallik made headlines again after a heated spat with Kunickaa Sadanand, during which they exchanged accusations about family and used abusive language. On the show, Amaal recalled being abandoned by his uncle and aunt during the 2005 Mumbai floods. He claimed they locked their car doors and left him to fend for himself in the floodwaters.

‘I’m not ready to die yet’: Dolly Parton breaks silence on illness rumours – National

UPDATE: Dolly Parton wants her fans to know that even though “there’s just a lot of rumours out there,” she’s doing fine.

Parton said that “lately everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am” and wanted to address her health issues in a video on Instagram.

“Well, today’s October the 8th, and obviously I’m here. … Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here,” Parton said on set of a commercial for the Grand Ole Opry. “I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease, those that seem to be real concerned, which I appreciate – and I appreciate your prayers, ’cause I’m a person of faith, I can always use the prayers for anything and everything – but I want you to know that I’m OK!”

“I’ve got some problems, as I’ve mentioned,” Parton continued. “Back when my husband Carl was very sick – that was for a long time – and then when he passed, I didn’t take care of myself, so I let a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of. So anyway, when I got around to it, the doctor said, we need to take care of this. We need to take care of that.”

Parton said that it’s “nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home” and closer to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, “where I’m kind of having a few treatments here and there, but I wanted you to know that I’m not dying.”

She also joked about an AI photo circulating online that showed her on her “death bed” with Reba McEntire by her side.

“Did you see that AI picture of Reba and me? Oh, lordy! I mean, they had Reba at my deathbed, and we both look like we need to be buried. I thought, oh, my Lord. But if I was really dying, I don’t think Reba would be the one at my deathbed. She might come visit me earlier,” she added.

“There’s just a lot of rumours flying around, but I figured if you heard it from me, you’d know that I was okay,” she said. “So anyhow, that’s what I wanted to say and I’m not ready to die yet. I don’t think God is through with me and I ain’t done working. So I love you for caring, and keep praying for me.”

“I want to clear something up,” Freida, 68, wrote in a Facebook post. “I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly.”

Freida said that Parton, 79, has “been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer.”

“It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister. Thank you all for lifting her up. Your love truly makes a difference,” she added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Freida took to Facebook to share an update on the Jolene singer, with a photo of Parton praying.

“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately,” she wrote. “I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.

“She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you.”

Hours after Freida’s latest post, Parton’s sister Stella, 76, also shared an update on Facebook, speaking out about the criticism she’s received from fans for not speaking out about her sister’s health.

“My big sister Dolly posted last week, giving her fans an update concerning her health and that she has been seeking treatment for kidney stones,” Stella wrote.

She said Freida “is concerned” and asked “for prayers on Dolly’s behalf.”

“I personally, respect the privacy of ALL my family members and will not disrespect them by discussing their personal business with anyone,” she continued. “If you need further information please go to their pages. That being said, those of you who feel the need to attack or insult me because I don’t serve as your information booth you aren’t really fans.

“If you were you would not make such an effort to say some of the hurtful things you’ve posted on my different social media platforms in the past 24 hours! I personally, appreciate those of you with sincere concerns on Dolly’s behalf and so do my family members.”

Parton postponed her first Las Vegas residency in 32 years due to “health challenges” in late September. She did not elaborate on what her health issues are.

The country music icon announced the news in a post on Instagram on Sept. 28, telling fans that she wanted them “to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts.”

“As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!” the 9 to 5 singer wrote.

“In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”

She assured fans not to “worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.”

Parton was scheduled to perform six shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for Dolly: Live in Las Vegas between Dec. 4 and Dec. 13, overlapping with the National Finals Rodeo. Her dates have been moved to September 2026.

Earlier in September, Parton cancelled her planned attendance at an announcement of a new ride at her Tennessee theme park, Dollywood.

“I had a kidney stone that was causing me a lot of problems, turned out it’d given me an infection and the doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be travelling right this minute, so you need a few days to get better,’” Parton said in a video announcement at the time.
