Stacey Jackson Breaks Ground with the First-Ever Musical Novel

by jummy84 October 7, 2025
written by jummy84

When Stacey Jackson describes her new project, How a Gangsta Rapper Made Me a Better Mom (Integrated Musical Edition), she isn’t just announcing a book. She’s unveiling a format no one has ever attempted before a hybrid of fiction and original music that she hopes will transform the way audiences consume stories.

Each version connects story and song in real time through QR codes, hyperlinks, and embedded audio. “This is a first-of-its-kind format that fuses fiction with original music in real time,” Jackson explained.

The scope is ambitious. Alongside the novel, audiences will get The Original Book Soundtrack on streaming platforms and an Immersive Edition in spatial audio. Each chapter is paired with a track designed to heighten the emotion of the narrative. For the audiobook, those tracks are fully mastered and integrated within the storyline—making it one of the first audiobooks in history to deliver a cinematic, musical experience.

The idea stems from Jackson’s long-standing desire to merge storytelling with the euphoric energy of her music. Her dance anthems have climbed international charts, and collaborations with icons like Snoop Dogg cemented her place in the music world. But she wanted to do more than release singles; she wanted to reinvent the way stories could be told. “Everything I’m putting out this year is about truth and reinvention owning your story, even the messy bits,” she said. “Blinded By Goodbye might sound like a breakup anthem, but it’s really about that blink moment when the rug gets pulled out and you decide to stand up anyway sparkles and all”.

It’s fitting that her debut musical novel is rooted in resilience. The book explores identity, motherhood, and the surprising lessons Jackson learned through her unconventional journey in entertainment. The music deepens that narrative, echoing themes of heartbreak, empowerment, and survival. “Pain can be fierce,” she reflected. “And it’s euphoric because healing doesn’t have to be quiet. Sometimes you just need to blast a breakup banger and shake it off with a little glitter and a lot of bass”.

For Jackson, this format also reflects her Gen X identity a generation she champions on her podcast The Gen-X-Perience. “We were reinventing ourselves long before it became a branding strategy,” she explained. “The show dives into those layered stories of reinvention that wasn’t loud but was powerful, resilient, and often hilariously messy”. That same ethos of resilience and reinvention threads through her musical novel, proving that she’s not only telling stories for her generation but also innovating how they’re told.

By being the first to integrate book publishing and music this way, Jackson is doing more than experimenting she’s setting a precedent. This launch isn’t just a release; it’s the beginning of a new storytelling format that could inspire other creators to merge mediums. “This pioneering format signals a new era for readers and listeners alike where storytelling is no longer bound to the page, but fully brought to life through music”.

Tom Pelphrey Breaks Down Robbie’s Tense Car Ride With Mark Ruffalo’s Tom (Exclusive)

by jummy84 October 6, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Task, Season 1 Episode 5, “Vagrants.”]

Task‘s latest episode put Robbie Prendergast (Tom Pelphrey) on a collision course, careening with the FBI’s Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) and the Dark Hearts, as a path of escape for his criminal pursuits closed in, “Vagrants.”

The installment found Robbie frantic as he tried locating Cliff (Raúl Castillo) following his run-in with the Dark Hearts, and after a meet-up with Erin (Margarita Levieva), it was clear to him that Jayson (Sam Keeley) was the culprit responsible for Cliff’s absence and apparent demise. Robbie also sought out a way to sell the drugs he’d stolen from the gang, opting to team with Shelley (Mickey Sumner) to offload the goods in exchange for cash.

Putting himself in danger, Robbie met with dealer Freddie Frias (Elvis Nolasco) to come to a deal. Eventually, Robbie went home to find Maeve (Emilia Jones) had taken Sam (Ben Doherty), and we learn she’s turned him into the FBI, cooperating with the feds. But that wasn’t before Dark Hearts boss Perry (Jamie McShane) showed up to look around the property, claiming he needed to grab some items that belonged to her dad.

Peter Kramer / HBO

With the walls essentially closing in, Robbie prepared to leave the house, but was met by Tom Brandis in the driveway, who claimed he was there to seek out Maeve in regards to her father Billy’s cold case. He talks his way into the house and is communicating with task force member, Anthony Grasso (Fabien Frankel), unaware he’s a crooked agent, but their texts are interrupted when Tom is sent a sketch resembling Robbie as the suspect who kidnapped Sam.

Robbie holds a gun to Tom’s head and forces him into his car, taking him hostage, as they drive down the highway. Robbie and Tom’s discussion revolves around life after death and their views of the world. All the while, Robbie tells Tom about everything he knows, ranging from Jayson being responsible for Billy and Cliff’s deaths to him hitting houses in retaliation for his brother’s loss.

The candid conversation occurs while Robbie has a gun to Tom’s back, but as he directs the FBI agent down a dirt road, he instructs him towards a lake and asks that Tom make sure Maeve isn’t held responsible for his actions, freeing the agent and continuing on his own path. When Tom gets in touch with his team, they pick him up, and they track the car Robbie took through the satellite radio. Little do most of the agents know, apart from Grasso, that the Dark Hearts are also in pursuit of Robbie, and everything is about to converge.

As Tom calls out to Robbie from the edge of a river, the Dark Hearts have also closed in, but what’s next? Only time will tell. As for Robbie finally colliding with Tom, Pelphrey tells TV Insider, “it’s such a beautiful juxtaposition. One of the things I was struck by between Robbie and Tom is that here you have this ex-priest who’s, in a very real way, grappling with loss of faith, what faith means, and his own understanding of god. On the other hand, you have Robbie who, in a strange way, lives in faith.”

Viewers get a taste of this in the opening and closing moments, in which Robbie takes water and rubs it on his chest, a practice he and his brother took up before jumping into the cool waters of the quarry to swim in the winter months. While he claimed he did it to keep from having his heart explode, the action is more loaded in the final minutes as he seems to get ready for whatever action is ahead.

“Now, he says he doesn’t believe in God, so he’s not living in a sort of religious faith, but he’s constantly saying things happen for a reason, and he’s acting like things happen for a reason,” Pelphrey explains of Robbie’s approach. “I found that to be more of a subtle way that they’re kind of an interesting opposite side of the same coin, Tom and Robbie.”

For episode director and executive producer Jeremiah Zagar, things were a little trickier behind the scenes than they appear onscreen. “A hard scene was the scene in the car with Robbie and Tom just because it was like 99 degrees and they didn’t have any air conditioning and they were sweating bullets and the equipment was bumping around,” he reveals. “Sometimes the things that seem easy are often incredibly difficult.”

Despite external challenges with heat and cameras in small spaces, Zagar credits Pelphrey and Ruffalo with delivering emotionally during that key moment. “That scene is the core of the show. I think that’s what you’re waiting for the entire season, in some ways, and that scene has to pay off in its utter simplicity,” Zagar points out. “It’s a testament to Mark and to Tom. They’re such incredible actors, and they lived in those characters’ skin for so long.”

See what’s next for Tom and Robbie as Task continues on HBO, and let us know what you thought of the heart-pounding episode’s ending in the comments section.

Aahana Kumra BREAKS SILENCE On Aarush Bhola’s Remarks About Anaya Bangar’s Sexuality| Bollywood Bubble

by jummy84 October 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Aahana Kumra, Aarush Bhola and Anaya Bangar were participating in Ashneer Grover hosted Rise and Fall. During one of the episodes, Aarush made quite personal remarks on Anaya being transgender, and now Aahana responded to this incident. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, the former contestant revealed how insensitive the format is. Aahana supported Anaya’s struggles to be where she is today. Scroll down to read what happened and watch the full interview.

When asked about Aarush Bhola’s remarks on Anaya Bangar being transgender, Aahana Kumra responded, “Dekhiye, let me begin with the fact that this format is an insensitive format. Yeh poora format hi bahut hi insensitive hai. Yahaan par sensitive logon ke liye jagah hi nahi hai. And I realised this because I am a sensitive person, and I can feel things very deeply. Jahan se Anaya aati hai, unhone bahut zyaada insensitivity dekhi hai, jheli hai. Unke ghar waale bhi unke decisions ko question karte rahe. Toh agar woh aisi jagah se aayi hai, jahan unhone itna bada decision liya aur apni life ko 360 degrees change kar diya, apni poori zindagi apne haath mein le li, toh unko ek-do insaanon ke opinions se koi farak nahi padta.”

Continuing, she continued, “Kabhi aapse pucha gaya ki aapne Aarush ko bola ho ki ‘This is this?’ Actually, yeh sab conversations mere saamne nahi hui thi. Jo unki mitr banti thi show mein, unhone kaha ki mitr hai ya nahi mujhe nahi pata. Jaise maine bola, main basement mein ek hi hafte rahi thi, toh mujhe sabke equations ke baare mein clarity nahi hai. Mujhe apne equations ke baare mein bahut clearly pata hai, but sabke equations ke baare mein main nahi keh sakti. I think Aakriti and Anaya were friends, and they will probably continue to be friends. But I also know that Aarush, Anaya, and Bali are very good friends. So, Anaya has a great relationship. She is actually a really endearing girl.”

Aahana Kumra On Aarush, Aakriti Fight

Aahana recalled a fight between Aarush and Aakriti. She said, “Aur jab mere saamne Aarush aur Aakriti ka jagda hua tha, tab Aarush chilla-chilla kar Aakriti ko ‘Dogla, dogla’ bol raha tha cameras ke saamne. Aur uss dauraan usne ek aisi baat kahi Anaya ke baare mein jo Aakriti ne pehle kahi thi. Aakriti ne kaha tha ki Anaya ke andar mardana taakat hai. Aur woh conversation already ho chuki thi. Okay? But phir se us fight mein woh baat uthaayi gayi.”

Continuing, she said, “Toh Anaya ne us time bola, ‘Bhai, tum log mujhe kyu ghaseet rahe ho apni conversation mein? We have already had this chat. Why are we again involving me?’ Aur uss waqt maine Aarush ko bola, maine kaha, ‘Aarush, sorry boliye Anaya ko. This was not required.’ Aur Aarush ne usi waqt sorry bola.”

Further adding, Aahana said, “So, I realised one thing about Aarush — ki woh kuch bhi ho sakta hai, woh moofat ho sakta hai, woh mazaak udata hai, but dil ka bohot achha hai. Aur jab maine ek hafta uske saath basement mein bitaya, tab mujhe yeh baat samajh aayi ki he is actually a really good guy. You know, woh Delhi ka launda hai, toh kabhi-kabhi usko samajh mein nahi aata ki woh kya bol raha hai, mazaak uda deta hai. But if you tell him something, agar aap usko bolenge ki ‘Yaar Aarush, yeh theek nahi tha,’ toh he immediately turns around and says sorry. And that’s lovely about him.”

What Happened Between Aarush And Anaya?

Aarush Bhola made personal remarks about transgender cricketer Anaya Bangar early in their friendship on the reality show Rise and Fall, leading to accusations of transphobia and homophobia. Following a confrontation later in the show, Bhola apologised and expressed a change in perspective, with Bangar confirming that they eventually became good friends. During their time on Rise and Fall, Bhola initially made comments that were transphobic and homophobic, which hurt Bangar. However, Bangar chose not to retaliate aggressively and instead sought to build understanding, believing she could use her influence to educate him, given his large social media following.

Sameer Wankhede Breaks Silence On Aryan Khan Arrest: ‘No Scapegoat In This’

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Sameer Wankhede, the former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer who oversaw the controversial arrest of Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in October 2021, has spoken out about the high-profile episode. Wankhede’s interview comes just days after he raised legal objections to a scene in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba*ds of Bollywood, claiming it was defamatory against him. In the interview, Wankhede gave a detailed, though technically indirect, defense of the arrest and the subsequent month-long custody, tackling accusations of corruption and the ‘scapegoat’ theory.

Speaking on the Mama’s Couch YouTube channel, Sameer Wankhede initially acknowledged that he had signed an affidavit, which was submitted in the Bombay High Court, committing to not speaking about the Aryan Khan case to the media. Despite this constraint, as the interviewer continued to ask direct questions about the case, Wankhede chose to answer in detail, meticulously avoiding the explicit mention of Aryan Khan’s name while addressing the circumstances surrounding the arrest.

Wankhede was pressed on why a person, referring to Aryan, was kept in custody for 25 days despite no drugs being found on them. Wankhede used this question to explain the broader legal scope of drug law enforcement, arguing that possession is not the sole factor in an arrest. “People have this misconception that if no drugs were found on you, there won’t be any action,” he explained. “If someone has been caught with drugs, then someone must have manufactured it, someone must have supplied it and there must be someone who is intending to buy it.”

He continued to outline the investigative necessity of a wider dragnet: “Do you think that we should not arrest those who manufacture them, or those who are intending to buy them because both of them will not be in possession of drugs? The law entails that the entire chain should be arrested. No matter who is the one who has the possession,” he said, implying that the arrestee could have been involved in the supply or purchase chain even without direct possession.

Defending the Arrest and Addressing Bribery Claims

When the interviewer directly asked if the arrestee was made a “bali ka bakra (scapegoat)”, Wankhede firmly defended his stance and the investigative process. “Isme bali ka bakra koi banta nahi hai (There is no scapegoat in this),” he asserted. He then detailed the process that precedes any arrest, dismissing the notion that the action was arbitrary. “After a lot of thought, there is a conscious possession, there is some electronic evidence, there is some statement, so on the basis of that, the investigation is done.”

Wankhede also reminded the public that the process of securing bail is complex and involves multiple legal clearances, not just the decision of one officer. “It’s not just Wankhede who is doing it all, there are a lot of procedures,” he said, listing the multiple legal channels that one has to go through to get their bail granted.

The former NCB officer was also asked about the serious allegation of leaking his private conversations with Shah Rukh Khan, where the star was allegedly pleading with him. Wankhede flatly denied the accusation: “Leaking would be the wrong word here. It’s neither my habit, nor am I so weak to do such things. I don’t need to do such things.”

Finally, he addressed the most serious charge leveled against him: the ₹25 crore bribery charge allegedly sought for Aryan Khan’s release. “You all saw the chats and I don’t want to repeat what is in the chats. I took action, and didn’t leave anyone. I will just say that I arrested, and nothing else,” he concluded, standing by his decision to proceed with the arrest regardless of the individual’s high-profile status.

Aryan Khan was ultimately cleared of all drug charges by the NCB in 2022 due to a “lack of sufficient evidence,” closing the contentious legal chapter, but the public scrutiny surrounding the arrest clearly remains.

'No Dewy-Eyed Romance': Alia Bhatt Breaks Notion On Her Bond With Ranbir Kapoor

‘No Dewy-Eyed Romance’: Alia Bhatt Breaks Notion On Her Bond With Ranbir Kapoor

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Actor Alia Bhatt may have millions of fans worldwide, but when it comes to playful trolling, she admits no one does it better than her husband, Ranbir Kapoor. The actor recently opened up about her marriage, her bond with Ranbir, and the importance of respect in a relationship while appearing as a guest on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s talk show Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle. Joining Alia on the episode was her Badrinath Ki Dulhania co-star Varun Dhawan.

“Ranbir Loves Trolling Me More Than Anyone Else”

In the candid conversation, Alia spoke warmly about her bond with Ranbir, clarifying that their relationship was never the typical filmy romance Bollywood is known for.

“Ranbir and I have a natural friendship, so it was never this like dewy-eyed or rose-tinted glasses sort of relationship,” she shared. “There was a relationship of best friends. Of course, I married him for a reason, because I think he’s wonderful to me and just as a human being. But 100 per cent, the person I love trolling is him, and the person he loves trolling the most is me.”

Her confession revealed a side of their marriage that fans rarely get to see — one rooted not just in love but also in playful banter and a strong friendship.

The Importance of Respect in Marriage

Alia went on to reflect on what makes her relationship with Ranbir strong. For her, respect forms the foundation of everything else in a marriage.

“Because with respect comes all the other things. Whether it’s support or love. Respect to me is the most important thing in a marriage, and in a union,” she explained.

Her words struck a chord with many, especially in an industry where celebrity marriages are often scrutinised and tested under the spotlight.

Choosing a Quiet, Intimate Wedding

The Gangubai Kathiawadi star also shed light on why she and Ranbir opted for a private wedding rather than a lavish Bollywood-style celebration.

“It’s just who we are. We are homebodies, very socially awkward, and we were like It’s our wedding day and we just want the closest people in our lives with us,” Alia revealed.

The couple tied the knot in April 2022 at their Mumbai home, in an intimate ceremony attended by family and a few close friends. Among the guests were Karan Johar, Akash Ambani, and director Ayan Mukerji, who played a pivotal role in their love story.

Parenthood and Raha’s Arrival

Just months after their wedding, Alia and Ranbir embraced parenthood with the arrival of their daughter Raha on November 8, 2022. The couple had begun dating while working together on Mukerji’s 2022 blockbuster Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, where their on-screen chemistry translated into a real-life romance.

Though they initially kept Raha away from the public eye, the couple eventually revealed her face during the annual Kapoor Christmas luncheon in 2023, a moment that melted fans’ hearts.

What’s Next for Alia Bhatt and Ranbir?

While balancing parenthood, both Alia and Ranbir continue to remain active in their careers.

Ranbir Kapoor is currently preparing for his much-anticipated role in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. The ambitious project, featuring Sai Pallavi, Yash, Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, and Lara Dutta, will be released in two parts. The first part is expected to hit theatres on Diwali 2026.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will soon reunite on screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, co-starring Vicky Kaushal. The film, already one of Bollywood’s most talked-about projects, is currently under production.

A Marriage Built on Friendship

Alia’s candid revelations highlight that beneath the glamour of Bollywood, her marriage with Ranbir is anchored in friendship, laughter, and mutual respect. While trolling each other may be a running joke in their household, their bond reflects a balance of playfulness and deep commitment.

For fans, this glimpse into their personal life reinforces why Alia and Ranbir continue to be one of Bollywood’s most admired couples — a partnership that thrives on love, respect, and a little healthy trolling.

Sunita Ahuja Breaks Silence On Govinda’s Affair Rumors: “I’m 100% Upset” | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 September 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Veteran Bollywood star Govinda’s personal life is again in the news with speculation about a break-up with wife Sunita Ahuja. Rumors had started circulating earlier this year that the 37-year-old couple were on the brink of divorce as Govinda had an affair with a 30-year-old Marathi actress. Now, in her recent vlog appearance with Sambhavna Seth, Sunita has freely discussed the matter, exposing the emotional agony she has endured.

Though Sunita did not deny the affair, she owned up to hearing the gossip and voiced her annoyance. “If I ever catch him cheating, I will be the first to alert the media,” she said firmly. She continued to claim that there are some members of Govinda’s family who wouldn’t want them to be happy. “They ask why our family is so happy, considering that their own families have experienced tragedies.”. Govinda does not socialize with good people. As I always say, if you hang out with bad people, you end up becoming like them,” she replied, stating that her only shelter today is her children.

Speaking about her living conditions, Sunita disclosed that she and Govinda have not cohabited for the last 15 years, even though he lives with her frequently. “We’ve been face-to-face but separately living. I gave him my entire life. Even today, I love him very much. But yes, I’m 100% angry because I hear everything too,” she stated, but said she keeps going strong because of her kids.

Speaking on the scandals regarding Govinda’s affair with a younger actress, Sunita didn’t mince her words. “Girls these days enter the industry searching for sugar daddies. They believe pocket money and a ceiling over their head would come their way. Until I catch them, it’s okay, but if I do—then you’ll find my ‘Sunny Deol’ side,” she threatened.

When Sambhavna Seth asked her if she thought it was time to address the matter, Sunita had this to say, “It’s shameful. At this age, with grown children, what are you doing? Even the kids are asking questions. But some people are so accustomed to telling lies that they just keep lying.”

In spite of the upheaval, the couple was spotted celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi together recently, officially refuting any split. Govinda, on the other hand, has not been seen on the big screen since 2019’s Rangeela Raja. Their son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, is now gearing up for his Bollywood debut in Sai Rajesh’s next film.

Farah Khan Breaks Silence On Rumoured Rift With Deepika Padukone

Farah Khan Breaks Silence On Rumoured Rift With Deepika Padukone

by jummy84 September 30, 2025
written by jummy84

The bond between filmmaker Farah Khan and actor Deepika Padukone has always been a subject of warmth and admiration in Bollywood circles. Farah not only introduced Deepika to the industry with Om Shanti Om (2007), opposite Shah Rukh Khan, but also collaborated with her again in Happy New Year (2014), a project that reaffirmed their camaraderie. However, in recent weeks, social media has been abuzz with rumours of a fallout between the two. The speculation intensified after several reports claimed that the duo had unfollowed each other on Instagram, with even Ranveer Singh’s name dragged into the chatter.

While gossip mills spun countless theories, Farah Khan chose not to remain silent. Instead, she responded directly to the speculation, dismissing the claims in a sharp and straightforward manner.

Did Deepika Padukone Unfollowed Farah Khan?

The drama began when screenshots started circulating online, allegedly showing that Farah and Deepika had unfollowed each other on Instagram. Many netizens quickly linked the supposed digital disconnect to Deepika’s reported professional choices and Farah’s recent comments. A section of social media further claimed that Ranveer Singh had also unfollowed Farah, adding more weight to the whispers of a brewing rift.

The narrative suggested that the distance stemmed from Farah’s apparent disapproval of Deepika’s demand for an eight-hour workday — a condition that reportedly led to her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and later her stepping away from Kalki 2898 AD.

Farah Khan’s Sharp Response

Farah, known for her candidness, came across one such speculative post and decided to set the record straight. In her comment, she lashed out at the baseless gossip, writing:
“What rubbish ul write!! Pls find other things to do.”

Her reaction was a clear indication that she wanted to quash the chatter before it spiralled further.

The ‘8-Hour Shift’ Angle

Interestingly, the rumour gained momentum due to snippets from Farah Khan’s own vlogs. In recent episodes, she has made cheeky remarks about the widely discussed “8-hour work shift” debate, something that has now become closely associated with Deepika.

During her visit to actor Radhikka Madan’s home, Farah recalled Radhikka’s early struggles. When Farah asked if Radhikka’s initial projects had long hours, the actor replied that she often worked for “48 to 56 hours non-stop.” Farah then wittily remarked, “Aise tapke hi toh sona banta hai (this is how gold is made),” signalling her belief that success requires hard work beyond fixed timeframes.

In another vlog at actor Rohit Saraf’s house, Farah’s cook Dilip asked, “Deepika Padukone ma’am kab aayengi humare show main (When will Deepika ma’am come to our show)?” Farah quipped, “Jiss din tu gaon jaayega naa, uss din aayegi (The day you go to your village, that day she’ll come).” She added with another playful jab, “Deepika Padukone ab sirf 8 ghanta shoot karti hai, usko show pe aane ka time nahi hai (She now shoots only for 8 hours, she doesn’t have time to come to our show).”

While many fans interpreted these comments as digs at Deepika, it remains unclear whether Farah intended them as light-hearted banter or genuine criticism. The subsequent Instagram rumours only added fuel to the fire, leading to speculation of a strained relationship.

A Bond Beyond Rumours

Despite the online frenzy, industry insiders suggest that the bond between Farah and Deepika runs deeper than a few stray comments. Farah has often praised Deepika for her talent, discipline, and professionalism, while Deepika has credited Farah for giving her the platform that catapulted her into stardom.

The filmmaker’s recent dismissal of the rumours indicates that she values their relationship and does not want idle gossip to overshadow their history. For Bollywood watchers, this episode serves as a reminder of how quickly social media speculation can snowball into full-blown narratives — ones that the people involved may not even recognise.

For now, it seems Farah Khan’s blunt clarification has put the rumours to rest, though fans will likely keep a close watch on their future interactions, both online and off-screen. What remains undeniable is that Farah and Deepika’s collaboration has already left an indelible mark on Indian cinema, and their personal rapport cannot be reduced to mere social media conjecture.

Raúl Castillo Breaks Down His ‘Task’ Twist in Episode 4

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

[This story contains major spoilers from episode four of Task].

Soon after Raúl Castillo read the first script of Task, he got on a Zoom call with show creator Brad Ingelsby to walk through the narrative beats of the show. It was a standard meeting for an actor deciding whether or not to sign on for a new project — save for the reveal that Castillo’s character, Cliff, would be tortured to death by a biker gang in the fourth episode. “I knew that the show was going to take us to some pretty intense places, but it was then that I had to figure out if that was something I could commit to,” says the actor. “But it felt inevitable. Like, oh shit, I have to do this thing.”

Castillo stars in Task (Ingelsby’s follow-up to Mare of Easttown), which follows two longtime friends who launch a drug-house-robbing scheme in order to get back at a local biker gang responsible for the death of a loved one, and the FBI crew assigned to break the string of robberies. In the fourth episode, which aired Sunday evening, Castillo’s Cliff and Tom Pelphrey’s Robbie are outsmarted by the biker gang while attempting to sell off their stolen haul. Cliff, in a long and harrowing scene, pays the deadly price. Here, Castillo chats with The Hollywood Reporter about creating the character and how they made Cliff’s final moments so realistic.

How did you first hear about this show?

Jeremiah Zagar, one of our producing directors, and I have collaborated a few times. We did We the Animals years back, and I made a small cameo in his feature, and we’ve been friends for a bunch of years. When he told me he was signing onto the new Brad Ingelsby show, I was sold from the get. I was a big fan of Mare of Easttown. Jeremiah talked to me about a couple of different characters, but he sent me the script — this was quite early, before the strike and before Mark was attached, or at least before he was attached in any way that Jeremiah could tell me about. I read it and Cliff just felt right for me. There was something about his loyalty to Robbie and his tenacity that felt familiar. The first scene that grabbed my attention was when Robbie and Cliff are taking a break from work and are discussing dating life, and I was enamored with Cliff’s acerbic quality. Even though he’s distrusting of a lot of people, he gravitates to Robbie. It felt really truthful.

Let’s talk about that loyalty. Obviously, Cliff ends up being the victim in Robbie’s scheme — is he a victim of Robbie’s grand ideas? How much autonomy does he have here?

I definitely never saw him as a victim. I see him as very free-willed, and I think there’s some backstory that we as an audience don’t learn in words or plot points, but there’s a sense that these guys have been there for each other in the past and that they’ll continue to be moving forward. There’s a shared history by the time we meet them. Brad is a very economical writer; he gives you these little nuggets of information, but there’s a lot to mine from that information. So I always felt that Cliff was not strung along or forced into any situation.

How did you find this very specific northeastern PA accent?

I was a little afraid of accents, to be truthful. I didn’t study to be an actor; I studied to be a playwright, so I’d never worked with a dialect coach before. But Suzanne Selby was amazing, and I found that rather than it being a hurdle, it was actually a great way to find my way into Cliff. It took me out of my own rhythm and cadence. She actually took me to a couple of DelCo bars before we started filming. It was before I’d made the physical transformation into Cliff, so I still looked like myself, and was dressed like myself, so I stood out like a sore thumb. I was getting glances. I wasn’t treated rudely, but it was enlightening to be in that environment.

Can you talk about that transformation into Cliff?

Well, Tom came to Pennsylvania with that post-strike look. (Laughs) It was perfect for Robbie — that long ass beard, and the long hair. And then Jeremiah and I talked and agreed that Cliff should look and feel different from that. He should have his own distinct silhouette, and that’s where the facial hair came in.

I had a moment when it was time to create the prosthetics for Clint in episode four, where I was like, “What have I gotten myself into?” I flew down from Philly to Atlanta, where Bill Johnson, the makeup effects artist, has his studio, so that they could do a cast of my face. You have two little holes to breathe out of, you can’t speak and you can barely hear. It felt like being underwater. And I’m extremely claustrophobic. It was vulnerable, but they were as comforting as you could be in those circumstances and I think it paid off. The effects look incredible — I’m nervous for my mom to see the episode because it’s so realistic and quite intense.

When you watched the final version of the episode, what did you think about most?

I remembered the four hours that it took for them to apply all those pieces. Usually, you sit in chairs with the rest of the cast, but before that scene, they thankfully had a little tent for me to be by myself. I needed to be in a meditative state. Once you have makeup like that, you almost don’t have to do any acting, because people are reacting so strongly to what they’re seeing on your face. The set got extremely quiet, and people were walking on eggshells around me. It was really intense, and it was also my first time in front of the camera with Sam Keeley, who played Jason, and the rest of the bikers in that scene.

How many times did you have to film that torture scene?

It took a couple of times to get it right. There were all these technical components in place, specifically for when Cliff spits in Jason’s face and when the plastic wrap goes around Cliff’s head. They weren’t working, and it was frustrating because Sam and I would work up to that big moment and then the spit machine wouldn’t work the way it was supposed to. And there was a little plastic tube to help me breathe when the plastic wrap went around my head, and the camera would catch it and it was too obvious. There was one point where Sam took Sally [Richardson], our director, over to the corner to talk. I could only see out of one eye because of the prosthetics, and I was watching them whisper to each other and I was like, “I hope he just wants me to do the spit gag myself.” And that is what they wanted. So they put some fake blood in my mouth and we worked up to that moment, and I spit in Sam’s face and his real reaction to me hawking a loogie is what you see in the show.

The same thing with the plastic wrap. I asked them, guys, I’m an excellent swimmer and I can hold my breath for a long time, can we just wrap my face and if I feel at any point like my safety is jeopardized I can just rip it open. My hands were free. Thankfully, they trusted me, and I trusted them too, and that’s the take we used.

So, how do you come down from a day like this?

Taking off the prosthetics took a couple of hours, so they put on my music and brought me tea and I just calmed down that way. It wasn’t my last day of work, but it was one of my last days and it was certainly one of the darkest things I’ve had to do as an actor. It was emotional saying goodbye to this character.

Do you have the itch to do any of this again?

I’m dying to work with Tom Pelphrey again. He was so incredible, and it felt criminal that we could only do one season of these characters. I fell in love with Cliff and Robbie’s dynamic and I wish we could explore more about who these guys are. I’d love to work in Philly again, too. I love that part of the world, and the way we were embraced by Pennsylvania is not lost on me.

Did everyone in town know you guys were filming?

They didn’t know at first, since these aren’t the same characters as with Mare of Easttown. Tom and I are not people who are getting recognized left and right, but blending in made our storyline even better. But, people did start to catch on to the fact that we were making a new show from the writer of Mare, and we got a lot of love for sure. And we had a lot of Rita’s Water Ice. It’s like paying homage, right?

Zubeen Garg’s Manager Breaks Silence On Music Rights And Royalties After Singer’s Death

Days after the sudden and tragic passing of renowned singer Zubeen Garg, his longtime manager and close associate, Siddharth Sarma, has issued a heartfelt and detailed statement on Facebook. In an open letter, Siddharth addressed the growing public speculation surrounding the ownership of Zubeen’s vast music catalogue and the revenue generated from his artistic work.

Siddharth began by clarifying widespread misconceptions, particularly regarding who owns the rights to Zubeen’s music. He stated that the majority of Zubeen’s body of work — an estimated 38,000 songs — is owned by various music labels and production companies, not by Zubeen himself.

“Almost all of Zubeen da’s songs, even the biggest blockbusters, were done before I entered his life,” Siddharth wrote. “He often lamented how he was shortchanged — producers and labels earned crores, while he received only modest payments. This can be verified with those companies directly.”

In an effort to reclaim control over his creative output, Zubeen took significant steps in 2021 by launching his own music label, Zubeen Garg Music LLP . Siddharth Sarma was also a partner in the venture, with Zubeen holding a majority 60% stake.

However, Siddharth admitted that the LLP had not yet become a major source of income. “The LLP has generated only a few thousand rupees monthly so far. The entire amount remains untouched in the company account,” he wrote, adding, “I consider it my duty to ensure his family inherits his rightful share.”

Siddharth also addressed concerns about royalties. He clarified that any royalties Zubeen earned in his role as a composer or lyricist were deposited directly into Zubeen’s personal account. He further stated that these funds will now be transferred to Zubeen’s widow, Garima Garg, ensuring that the singer’s earnings remain within his family.

Zubeen Garg’s Untimely Death

Zubeen Garg, a beloved figure in Assamese and Indian music, passed away on September 19 while visiting Singapore for the North East Festival. He was found in critical condition in the sea by local authorities and was immediately taken to a hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU. Despite receiving intensive medical care, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Zubeen’s death has sent shockwaves across the country, particularly in Assam and the Northeastern region, where he was considered a cultural icon. Known for his genre-defying music, multilingual prowess, and relentless passion, Zubeen recorded more than 38,000 songs across various Indian languages during his illustrious career.

As the investigation into his death continues, tributes from fans, artists, politicians, and cultural figures have poured in, honouring his immense contribution to Indian music and culture. Many remember him not only as a prolific artist but as a voice that amplified the identity and issues of the Northeast.

Siddharth’s statement offers a glimpse into the lesser-known aspects of Zubeen’s professional journey, shedding light on the legal and financial complexities surrounding his work. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of artists having control over their creative rights, even in industries where such control is often elusive.

Zach Bryan Breaks U.S. Concert Attendance Record

written by jummy84

Although official numbers are still being confirmed, Zach Bryan broke the record for largest U.S. concert last night (Sept. 27) in front of 112,000 fans at Michigan Stadium on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, Mi., just edging out the 110,905 mark set by George Strait in 2024 in College Station, Tx.

“This might be the craziest thing I’ve ever done,” Bryan told the audience from his in-the-round stage at the first concert ever held at the legendary venue. The 27-song set also featured a guest turn by opening act John Mayer on the Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil” and area natives the War & Treaty on their 2023 collaboration “Hey Driver.”

Bryan previously said he would no longer tour in a traditional manner and would instead play special shows like in Ann Arbor from time to time. The artist was also in the news of late for attempting to confront fellow country act Gavin Adcock backstage at an Oklahoma festival.

“Been the worst and best few years of my life,” he wrote on Instagram earlier this week. “So ready for the chapter to end. Gotta go make music fun to myself again. Each day I pray people understand I will never regret a thing and I am proud of myself, my family and my friends. there could be a million assholes who have never had a unique thought in their life preaching a million pounds of negativity and bullshit and it wouldn’t be worth a single soul who’s found strength and shelter in true songwriting and good live performances.”
