My Bloody Valentine announce support acts for 2025 UK and Ireland tour

by jummy84 October 25, 2025
written by jummy84

My Bloody Valentine have announced the support acts for their upcoming dates in the UK and Ireland.

In March, the band confirmed that they would be playing their first UK headline tour in over 10 years, with huge dates at Dublin’s 3Arena (their first non-festival show in their home country since 1992), Manchester’s Aviva Studios, London’s Wembley Arena and Glasgow’s OVO Hydro in November.

Now, they have revealed that they will be joined by J Mascis for the London and Glasgow shows on November 25 and 27 respectively, while Maria Somerville will open for them in Dublin and Manchester on November 22 and 24.

Tickets have been on sale since the shows were announced in March and you can find any remaining tickets here.

Mascis is the singer and guitarist with Dinosaur Jr. and has been an acquaintance of My Bloody Valentine for a long time. The two bands played together on the 1992 Rollercoaster Tour, an offshoot of the Lollapalooza Festival.

In 2023, MBV’s Kevin Shields joined Dinosaur Jr. on stage in London’s The Garage, playing songs from each other’s back catalogues, as well as The Cure’s ‘Just Like Heaven’.

Somerville, meanwhile, is an Irish shoegaze and folk artist that released her second album ‘Luster’ in April this year via 4AD.

These shows will be My Bloody Valentine’s first live performances in nearly seven years, since they toured North America in 2018. They will also be playing at Primavera Sound in June next year, alongside headliners The Cure, Gorillaz, The xx, Doja Cat and Massive Attack.

Their latest album was the 2013 comeback record ‘mbv’. In the time since, the members revealed in 2021 that they were working on two new albums for Domino, and Shields said that the first would contain “warm and melodic” material while the second would be more experimental.

Outside of the band, Shields has also gone on to share solo material, dropping it in a subtle way by concealing it within his range of custom guitar pedals.

The group recently posted the back cover to the upcoming LP, which contains 12 songs overall. The album opens with F+TM’s two recent singles, ahead of cuts titled ‘Witch Dance’, ‘Sympathy Magic’, ‘Perfume And Milk’, ‘Buckle’ and ‘Kraken’.

The rest of the record is comprised of the tracks ‘The Old Religion’, ‘Drink Deep’, ‘Music By Men’ and ‘You Can Have It All’, before concluding with ‘And Love’.

Welch previously revealed that the inspiration for the ‘Everybody Scream’ album came from undergoing lifesaving surgery during the ‘Dance Fever’ tour in 2023. She has since opened up further about the procedure, revealing that she had suffered an ectopic pregnancy.

“The closest I came to making life was the closest I came to death,” she explained in a recent interview. “And I felt like I had stepped through this door, and it was just full of women, screaming.”

Earlier, she had touched on exploring spiritual mysticism and folk horror – understanding the limits of her body and questioning what it meant to be “healed”. These are themes that helped shape the record, along with exploration of womanhood, partnership, ageing and dying.

The upcoming album features contributions from IDLES‘ Mark Bowen, Mitski and The National’s Aaron Dessner – all of whom worked with Welch on the title track, too.

Additionally, Welch has talked about being inspired by JADE and the current “experimental” side of pop on her “most personal” LP yet. She also looked back on working with “one of [her] favourite artists of all time”, Mitski.

Florence + The Machine are set to embark on a UK and European arena tour in February. The run of shows includes two nights at The O2 in London – find any remaining tickets here.

MC50 (Soundgarden, Faith No More, Fugazi Members) Announce New Live Album

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

MC50 — the touring band featuring late MC5 member Wayne Kramer alongside members of Soundgarden, Faith No More, Fugazi, and others — have announced a new live album titled 10 More, set for release December 5th.

The recordings were captured during a 2018 tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of the legendary proto-punk band MC5, on which Kramer was joined by Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Brendan Canty (Fugazi), Billy Gould (Faith No More), Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, ex-Pearl Jam), and Marcus Durant (Zen Guerrilla).

The reason the collection is titled 10 More is because an earlier album of different live cuts from the same tour was included as a bonus disc in deluxe editions of the MC5’s 2024 album, Heavy Lifting.

Among the songs on 10 More are “The American Ruse,” “Call Me Animal,” “Rocket Reducer No. 62 (Rama Lama Fa-Fa-Fa),” “Looking at You,” and “Starship,” as well as a cover of Ray Charles’ “I Believe To My Soul.” The tunes were recorded during shows in Seattle, Cincinnati, and Hamburg, Germany.

Sadly, Kramer died in February 2024, and only a few months later, drummer Dennis Thompson passed away, leaving no surviving members of the classic MC5 lineup.

See below for the the album art and tracklist for 10 More, which is available to pre-order on vinyl or CD via Amazon.

The Cult announce hiatus from touring to record and “recharge our spiritual batteries”

by jummy84 October 22, 2025
written by jummy84

The Cult has announced a hiatus from touring after concluding their current North American tour, which is due to finish on October 30 in Los Angeles.

  • READ MORE: Ian Astbury talks the resurgence of goth, David Bowie’s legacy and The Cult’s “renaissance”

Sharing the news on Instagram, the band said that they’d be taking a long break from touring to focus on other creative endeavours, but promised fans that it does not mark the end.

“Mother Nature has a cycle of change and evolution that is inevitable,” the statement began. “The moon’s phases change, tides rise and fall. Change is necessary for creation and rebirth. It is with this in mind that, following the remaining dates on our current North American The Cult/Death Cult 8525 Tour, we have decided to step away from touring for an undetermined amount of time.

“We have toured extensively over the last few years and we shall now shift our focus to writing, recording new music, and exploring other projects that shall be revealed over time. It is a time for us to turn inward to recharge our spiritual batteries.”

The band confirmed that they will be performing their final remaining shows, which will take them up to October 30.

“When we return to the stage, it shall be with an even stronger fire and energy that we will share with all of you,” the statement said. “Ours is a communal bond, and it will not be broken, simply paused. Until then, we have five remaining shows on this current tour, culminating at The Shrine in Los Angeles on Oct 30. Please join us for what has been an incredible celebration of 40 years of The Cult and Death Cult.”

The band formed as Death Cult in 1983, but then shortened their name to The Cult in 1984. Since their inception, The Cult have released 11 albums, with their most recent one being 2022’s ‘Under The Midnight Sun’.

Last year, the band’s frontman Ian Astbury spoke to NME about the recent resurgence of goth in pop culture – which sees “women picking up the swords and leading the way” – as well as how the band are looking to challenge the perception of being “a heritage act”.

Speaking about the future of The Cult, and his relationship with guitarist Billy Duffy, Astbury said:“What does the future look like? No idea, it’s chaos right now. It’s absolute anarchy. The plan is to have no plan. The plan is to be intuitive and act in response to the moment. Career? What’s a career? Plans? There are no plans. Things are changing too rapidly. I have no plans, I’m just impulsive. Whatever hits me, it’s just how quickly we can turn things around.”

He added: “The Cult is its own animal. It’s a multi-headed hydra. Billy [Duffy, guitarist] has a very strong, tactile, pragmatic, Mancunian side to him, and he holds ground. He grounds me because I’m just like lightning, I’ll be all over the place.”

The news of The Cult’s performing hiatus comes after they were announced as one of the first wave acts billed for the newly-launched Forever Now Festival, set to take place in June 2026 in Milton Keynes. They were billed next to the likes of  Kraftwerk, Johnny Marr, and The The.

Bon Jovi have only played a handful of one-off gigs since completing a Spring 2022 tour, as Jon Bon Jovi recovered from a vocal-cord issue which required surgery, and left him wondering if he’d ever be able to tour again. In a press release, the frontman expressed his gratitude to fans for their patience during his healing process:

“There is a lot of joy in this announcement — joy that we can share these nights together with our amazing fans and joy that the band can be together. I am lucky enough to be able to hold a light out to the audience each night and stand in their reflection for a tremendous collective experience — I get to stand in the WE of our concerts. And I’ve spoken extensively on my gratitude but I will say it again, I’m deeply grateful that the fans and the brotherhood of this band have been patient and allowed me the time needed to get healthy and prepare for touring. I’m ready and excited!”

For pre-sale access to the band’s UK/Ireland shows, fans can pre-order the band’s upcoming album, Forever (Legendary Edition), an updated version of their 2024 album featuring collaborations with Bruce Springsteen, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Jason Isbell, Avril Lavigne, and more.

On Friday night, the National Film Award winner returned to Instagram to make the announcement and drop some sweet pictures from her big day.

Zaira Wasim Shares Nikaah Pictures

After quitting acting in 2019, the ‘Secret Superstar’ actress took a break from Instagram and only posted quotes/text in her feed. She made a comeback only last evening and shared personal pictures. Taking to her Instagram handle, Zaira shared two photos simply captioned “Qubool Hai x3.” The photos show the newlyweds signing their nikaah papers and posing with their backs to the camera.

While the former actress did share glimpses of her big day, Zaira refrained from revealing the name of her husband or his face. For her nikaah, ‘The Sky Is Pink’ actress wore a bright red wedding attire complete with golden embroidery. An emerald and diamond ring is seen over her mehendi covered left hand.

Zaira’s post has received tons of love in the less than 24 hours with nearly 250K like. Thousands have also taken to the comments section to bless the newly weds and wish them a happy married life.

Association of Independent Festivals and British Arts Festivals Association announce alliance

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

John Rostron credit Jody Hartley

The Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) has forged an alliance with the British Arts Festivals Association (BAFA) that will see the two trade bodies work together across events, data analysis, representation, training, resources and more.

AIF and BAFA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding based on shared objectives to the benefit of both memberships – with AIF serving the independent music festival sector and BAFA representing multi-arts cultural events.

Through the MOU, both AIF and BAFA have committed to:

1. Host twice-yearly online member meetings that bring festival members of both organisations together to learn, share and connect.

2. Work together to deliver in-person events in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

3. Publish joint reports on the state of the festival sector.

4. Support each other in increasing representation at sector meetings and increasing information flow between industry and public sector bodies.

5. Establish shared data points for surveying and reporting to members on trends that will help improve decision making and event sustainability.

6. Produce shared resources and deliver shared training for members.

7. Offer cross-party access to BAFA Conference and AIF Congress.

8. Work together to grow and support the music and arts festival sector in the UK.

AIF CEO John Rostron said: “AIF’s membership is based on collaboration and cooperation between those working in the independent festival market, and this alliance with the wider multi-arts festival sector is an extension of that philosophy. There is already some significant crossover between our memberships. By working more intentionally together, we will all benefit from a greater diversity of insight, experience and expertise.”

BAFA Director Fiona Goh said: ”BAFA exists to provide insight, inspiration and connection for the arts festivals community through the networking, training, advocacy and support that we offer. Our members create extraordinary work across the UK, and partnership supercharges that work, transforming what’s possible. We’re looking forward to BAFA and AIF working together more strategically in the future to the benefit of the whole festival sector.”
