Adolescence’s Stephen Graham Wins Emmy for Limited Series Lead Actor

Stephen Graham won the lead limited series actor Emmy on Sunday, recognizing his portrayal of Eddie Miller in Netflix’s “Adolescence,” which he co-created.

“This kind of thing doesn’t normally happen to a kid like me. I’m just a mixed-race kid from a block of flats in a place called Kirkby,” said Graham, who is of Swedish and Jamaican descent. “To be here today in front of my peers, and to be acknowledged by you, is the utmost humbling thing I could imagine my life, and it shows you that any dream is possible.”

Graham is best known for film roles including Guy Ritchie’s “Snatch” (2000) and Martin Scorsese’s “Gangs of New York” (2002). He also played Andrew “Combo” Gascoigne in the 2006 film “This Is England” and reprised the role in three sequel miniseries that aired in 2010, 2011 and 2015. His other credits include “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” two “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies and “The Irishman” as well as “Boardwalk Empire” on HBO and “Peaky Blinders” on BBC.

Also nominated for lead limited series actor were Colin Farrell for “The Penguin,” Jake Gyllenhaal for “Presumed Innocent,” Brian Tyree Henry for “Dope Thief” and Cooper Koch for “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.”

“Adolescence” earned Graham his first three Emmy nominations and wins. In addition to the acting award, he took home trophies for outstanding limited series and limited series writing.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Wins Emmy For Scripted Variety

by jummy84 September 15, 2025
written by jummy84

John Oliver once again beat Saturday Night Live.

HBO’s Last Week Tonight beat Lorne Michaels’ NBC show for the third straight year in the Outstanding Scripted Variety Series category.

It comes after the show, which launched on HBO in 2014, previously won seven consecutive times in the Outstanding Variety Talk Series category.

John Oliver thanked HBO and his team as well as his family in an incredibly short speech, helping Nate Bargatze’s charity jar, designed to keep the speeches tight and donate money to the Boys and Girls Club of America. After Oliver’s speech, the counter went back to $99,000.

“F*ck you, Nate Bargatze, that is a lot of money for you and you can add a f*ck to the swear jar as well,” he said before racing off the stage.

In 2023, the TV Academy shook up the categories last year, launching Outstanding Scripted Variety Series, alongside Outstanding Talk Series and moved Oliver into the former, going head-to-head with SNL, which had won the award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series six years in a row starting in 2017.

It has been nominated for 73 Emmys and won 30. At the Creative Arts Emmys, though, it failed to win in directing, which went to The Late Show, and picture editing.

Oliver, who is contracted through to the end of the 2026 season, exec produces the series alongside Tim Carvell and Liz Stanton. It is produced by HBO in association with Peyance Productions and Avalon Television.

Katherine LaNasa and Tramell Tillman score supporting drama wins

15 September 2025

Katherine LaNasa fought back tears as she picked up the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series Emmy Award on Sunday (14.09.25).

Catherine LaNasa won an Emmy Award

The 58-year-old actress was a surprise winner in a category that also included Severance star Patricia Arquette, Paradise’s Julianne Nicholson and The White Lotus quartet Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell and Amy Lou Wood and she paid tribute to the real-life nurses who had influenced her performance in The Pitt as Dana Evans.

Speaking on stage at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, she grew emotional as she said: “Oh my goodness, I am so proud and honoured to receive this award from the Acadmy. My whole career I wanted to work with John Wells, he elevates everything in his wake. John, I’m so much better when you’re around. Mostly because I don’t want to get fired.

Thank you Scott Gemill and all the writers and the nurses who inspired Dana.

“Noah Wyle, the incomparable Noah Wyle, and the entire Pitt family.”

The night’s host, Nate Bargatze had earlier pledged to donate $100,000 to the Boys + Girls Clubs of America but warned he would deduct $1,000 from the total for “every second” an acceptance speech went over 45 seconds, but would add the money back on for those who ran under time.

And after Katherine’s speech, the organisation lost around $6,000.

Nate quipped: ”Alright, that was an expensive wave.

Meanwhile, Tramell Tillman became the first black star to win the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Emmy for his performance in Severance, taking the honour ahead of co-stars Zach Cherry and John Turturro, Paradise’s James Marsden, and The White Lotus cast members Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, and Sam Rockwell.

The 40-year-old actor dedicated his win to his mother, who was seated in the audience, and quoted the advice she had given him as his “first acting coach”.

He said: “You remember what you want to remember. You make time for what you want to make for. Do the work. Show up. And most importantly, for the love of God, don’t embarrass me in public.

“My first acting coach was tough y’all. But all great mothers are.”

Filmfare Flashback: Looking Back at Dilip Kumar and Nutan’s Wins for Devdas and Seema

by jummy84 September 13, 2025
written by jummy84

As we gear up for the grand 70th edition of the Filmfare Awards in Gujarat, this is the perfect moment to look back at the glorious past of Indian cinema’s most celebrated event. Today, we turn the pages back to the 4th Filmfare Awards held in May 1957.

Two legends of Hindi cinema made history as Dilip Kumar won the Best Actor award for his unforgettable performance in Devdas, and Nutan clinched her very first Best Actress trophy for Seema (1955). This went on to become the late actress’ first of five Best Actress awards. Later, they posed together with their trophies, making it a memorable frame.

Take a look at the picture:

V Shantaram won the Best Director Award for Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje, and this film also won the Best Film award. In fact, the film swept the awards that year. AK Parmar won the award for Best Sound Design, and Kanu Desai bagged the Best Art Direction award for Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje.

Other awardees were Motilal (Best Supporting Actor; Devdas), Vyjayanthimala (Best Supporting Actress; Devdas), GG Mayekar (Best Music Director; Shree 420) and Amiya Chakravarty (Best Story; Seema), among others.

From icons like Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, and Nargis in the early years, to Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, and Rishi Kapoor, every era of Hindi cinema has left its imprint on the Filmfare stage. In more recent years, Shah Rukh Khan’s wit as a host, Salman Khan’s electrifying performances, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s elegance, Deepika Padukone’s grace, Priyanka Chopra’s energy, and Ranveer Singh’s larger-than-life stage presence have turned the awards into a spectacle of glamour and entertainment. The 70th Filmfare Awards will take place in Gujarat in October this year.

Stay tuned to Filmfare for more updates on the awards.

Porsha Williams Wins Legal Battle As Ex Simon Guobadia’s Divorce Appeal Is Denied

We now know what had #PorshaWilliams and her ex-husband, #SimonGuobadia, trading shots the other day.

A Georgia judge has rejected Simon’s appeal to overturn their prenup, upholding the terms of their divorce finalized in June 2025. The ruling grants The #RHOA star $40,000 per month in spousal support for 14 months, half the equity in their home (with housing costs covered by Simon for the next 36 months), several luxury vehicles, and $224,000 in legal fees.

However, despite the ruling, Simon isn’t backing down. The #Nigerian businessman told PEOPLE:

“We intend to continue pursuing this appeal, as we have not yet exhausted all legal remedies. I anticipate a resolution within approximately 12–24 months, depending on how far the opposition chooses to take the matter.”

“In addition, I have a federal defamation case that has yet to be heard, and we are now preparing for the discovery phase at the pace set by the federal court,” he added. “I am a very patient man — patience has served me well for over 40 years in both my personal and professional life — and I am confident that I will ultimately prevail. Stay tuned.”

The Bengal Files Vs The Tashkent Files: Vivek Agnihotri’s Film Wins The Box Office Battle On Day 3, Check The Numbers | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Vivek Agnihotri’s latest political drama, The Bengal Files, has outperformed his 2019 film The Tashkent Files at the box office but still lags significantly behind the phenomenal success of The Kashmir Files (2022).

Modest Opening Weekend for The Bengal Files

The Bengal Files earned ₹2.75 crore on Sunday, following ₹2.15 crore on Saturday and ₹1.75 crore on Friday. According to Sacnilk, the film’s total opening weekend collection in India stands at ₹6.65 crore. While this is nearly three times the ₹2.20 crore that The Tashkent Files earned during its opening weekend, it is only about one-fourth of the ₹27.15 crore that The Kashmir Files raked in.

Comparing Agnihotri’s Political Trilogy

The Tashkent Files, a pre-pandemic outing on the death of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri under mysterious circumstances, featured Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, and Pankaj Tripathi. At the other end, The Kashmir Files, based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, was a box office hit, with a ₹3.55 crore opening and rising to ₹15 crore by day three.

Comparatively, The Bengal Files also had a subdued beginning despite the impressive cast that boasts of Mithun Chakraborty, Namashi Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi. The movie deals with the Direct Action Day of 1946, Noakhali Massacre, and the “Great Bengal Killing” and compares them to contemporary problems in Bengal and Bangladesh.

Heavy Investment and Stiff Competition

Agnihotri has disclosed that he invested the returns of The Kashmir Files into The Bengal Files, in addition to borrowed money. In the meantime, his last release, The Vaccine War, launched on ₹3.50 crore and concluded on ₹10.33 crore.

The movie also encountered stiff competition this weekend from Baaghi 4 featuring Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt, which debuted at a record ₹31.25 crore.
