“25 years later – the wound is still alive.” Mubi has revealed a brand new 25th anniversary re-release trailer for the iconic, indie classic Amores Perros, the first feature by Mexican director Alejandro G. Iñárritu. This initially premiered at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival in the Directors Fortnight sidebar, launching the career of Iñárritu who would go on to win Oscars and make a handful of all-timer movies. An amateur dog fighter, a supermodel, & worn out assassin, all separately struggling to find love, find their lives transformed by a devastating car wreck in Mexico City. The film stars Emilio Echevarría, Gael García Bernal, Goya Toledo, Álvaro Guerrero, Vanessa Bauche, Jorge Salinas, Adriana Barraza, Humberto Busto. The film’s official title is a pun in Spanish; the word “perros”, which literally means “dogs”, can also be used to refer to misery, so that it roughly means “bad loves” with canine connotations. The film was released under its Spanish title in the English-speaking world, although it was sometimes translated as Love’s a Bitch in marketing. The soundtrack includes songs by Latin American rock bands including Café Tacuba, Control Machete, and Illya Kuryaki & the Valderramas. This new 4K version was restored from the 35 mm original camera negative, which was scanned in 16-bit 4K resolution. The color & final grading was supervised and approved by director Alejandro G. Iñárritu, as well as director of photography Rodrigo Prieto. View it below.

Here’s the re-release trailer (+ poster) for Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s 2000 film Amores Perros, via YouTube:

Amores Perros Trailer 25th Anniversary

Amores Perros Trailer 25th Anniversary

A fatal car crash in Mexico City sets off a chain of events in the lives of 3 people: a supermodel, a young man wanting to run off with his sister-in-law, and a homeless man. They are catapulted into unforeseen situations instigated by the seemingly inconsequential destiny of a dog. As a groundbreaking moment for early 2000s Mexican cinema and winner of the Grand Prize at the 2000 Festival de Cannes Critics Week, Amores Perros retains its full and undiminished power. Let us meet with Alejandro G. Iñárritu to celebrate the anniversary of his first film. Amores Perros is directed by acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu (aka Alejandro González Iñárritu), his very first feature film at the time before going on to make 21 Grams (2003). The screenplay is written by Guillermo Arriaga Jordán. Also produced by Iñárritu. This initially premiered at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival, and also played at NYFF that year, then didn’t open in theaters until the next year – starting in March 2001. The film recently premiered again as a restoration at this year’s Cannes. Mubi will re-release Iñárritu’s Amores Perros in select theaters starting in early October – and will be streaming on Mubi starting October 24th, 2025 coming soon this fall. Any fans of this film?

Jean Dujardin in ‘The Incredible Shrinking Man’ French Remake Trailer

“Our life is fleeting… Tiny – that’s what we are.” Universal France has revealed two full official trailers for a brand new modern remake of the classic story about The Incredible Shrinking Man. From director Jan Kounen, this new French movie is called L’homme qui rétrécit (or just The Shrinking Man as there’s no other English title yet). Jean Dujardin stars in this remake / re-adaptation of the Richard Matheson novel, which is directed by French filmmaker Jan Kounen, and will be released in France this October. It’s premiering first at the 2025 Sitges Film Festival in October – that’s how I found out about this one, since it has barely been mentioned over in the US so far. A shipbuilder named Paul living on the coast inexplicably begins to shrink, then gets trapped in his own basement, only once inch (a few cm) tall. He must fight for survival in now-hostile ordinary household environment. “The Shrinking Man is both a coming-of-age story and an adventure film.” Also starring Marie-Josée Croze and Daphné Richard. And with a new score by Alexandre Desplat. This looks damn good! Not as cheesy or as ridiculous as I was expecting. Of course, once he gets small, he battles his own cat and a very scary looking realistic spider. This looks terrifying! I’m definitely curious to check it out – I hope it’ll also play in the US not long after the French opening this fall.

Here’s two new French trailers for Jan Kounen’s movie The Incredible Shrinking Man, from YouTube:

The Incredible Shrinking Man Trailer

The Incredible Shrinking Man Poster

The Shrinking Man, a new adaptation of the cult novel, follows Paul, an ordinary man who divides his time between his shipbuilding business, his wife Elise, and their daughter Mia. During a trip out to sea, he encounters a strange & unexplained meteorological phenomenon. From then on, Paul begins to shrink inexorably, with science unable to explain why. When, by accident, he finds himself trapped in his own basement, measuring only a few centimeters tall, he must fight to survive in this ordinary environment that has become hostile. Paul is confronted with himself, his life force, the force that drives him to continue living & move forward toward the mystery. The Incredible Shrinking Man, or The Shrinking Man also known as L’homme qui rétrécit in French, is directed by Dutch-French filmmaker Jan Kounen, of many movies including The Broadsword, Soft, Het Virus, Gisele Kerozene, Vibroboy, Dobermann, Blueberry, 99 Frances, Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, Vape Wave, Mère Océan, My Cousin previously. The screenplay is by Christophe Deslandes & Jan Kounen; based on Richard Matheson’s book published in 1956. Produced by Alain Goldman & Patrick Wachsberger. This is premiering at the 2025 Sitges Film Festival. It opens first in French cinemas starting on October 22nd, 2025. No US date is set yet – stay tuned. Thoughts? Intrigued?

“This is Alaska – there’s no perimeter. People up here are different.” This looks wild! Something big going on. Apple TV+ has debuted the full official trailer for a new thriller series titled The Last Frontier. Ready to watch streaming on Apple TV+ starting on October 10th this fall. Still reminds me of both Con-Air and The Grey (the 2011 Liam Neeson survival film). U.S. Marshal Frank Remnick’s jurisdiction is turned upside-down when a prison transport plane crashes somewhere out in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates. Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he suspects the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with far-reaching and devastating implications. Uh that’s scary! Jason Clarke stars as Remnick, along with Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell, Dallas Goldtooth, Tait Blum, & Alfre Woodard. Also can see Clifton Collins Jr. on the plane. With episodes directed by filmmakers John Curran (director of the movies The Painted Veil, Stone, Tracks, Chappaquiddick, Mercy Road) and Sam Hargrave (of Extraction 1 & 2). There is a LOT going on in this series! Much more than just a story about rounding up prisoners in the Alaskan wilderness. Worth a watch.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for Apple TV+’s new series The Last Frontier, from YouTube:

New Alan Partridge series 'How Are You?' launch date revealed with trailer and spoof crowdfunder plea

New Alan Partridge series ‘How Are You?’ launch date revealed with trailer and spoof crowdfunder plea

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

The release date for the new Alan Partridge series, How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge), has been confirmed.

The show will see Steve Coogan return as the iconic comedy character as he hosts six episodes that will explore the subject of mental health. After a year living in Saudi Arabia, Partridge has returned to Britain and the show will see him “ask some important questions”.

The series will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9:30pm on Friday 3 October, and all six episodes will be available to watch online from that day.

It was originally announced in 2024 under the title And Did Those Feet… With Alan Partridge, and a synopsis explains: “We follow the beloved and, to be fair, revered broadcaster Alan Partridge as he reintegrates into life in Britain after a year working in Saudi Arabia.”

How are you? It’s Alan (Partridge) pic.twitter.com/5nuXulAXLA

— Neil Gibbons (@neilgibbons) September 20, 2025

“But what begins as a documentary about homecoming soon morphs into something more personal as Alan realises that the happiness he thought he’d feel at being back in Norwich just hasn’t materialised. Something’s missing.”

“It’s a journey through the mental health of himself and the country he loves (the UK including Northern Ireland) to ask: are we mentally unwell, mentally challenged, sad, cross, disturbed or just plain fed up?”

Partridge himself has given fans an insight into how the show came about: “The kingdom of Saudi Arabia enjoys extensive oil and natural gas reserves, but has also seen economic growth in other areas such as agricultural production, retail trade, construction, and transport,” he said. “It directs some $69 billion to military expenditure each year. And yet despite all that, I somehow felt incomplete.”

Ahead of the show’s launch, the BBC have also shared a spoof crowdfunder appeal from Partridge, in which he offers a range of services for fans, including a birthday voicemail for £50 and a dinner at a restaurant of your choosing for £400 (or at one of Alan’s choosing for £200). Watch above.

The inept, awkward broadcaster first appeared in 1991 on the radio show On The Hour, before transitioning to television when he hosted the fictional chat show Knowing Me, Knowing You from 1994-95, followed by the sitcom I’m Alan Partridge from 1997 to 2002. The character has been revived on various platforms including YouTube, podcasts, books, and the 2013 feature film Alpha Papa.

Last year, Coogan said he would like to do more live shows as the character, saying “I’d like to do some other stuff first and I’ll go back to him”. One of those other projects will be a film about footballer Roy Keane, titled Saipan.

“The closer they look, the less they’ll actually see…” 🎩 Lionsgate has unveiled the second official trailer for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t – originally called Now You See Me 3. This is the third movie in the magician heist series that kicked off with Now You See Me in 2013 and continued with Now You See Me 2 in 2016. It’s opening in theaters nationwide in November this fall – if anyone wnats to watch it? Here’s the only brief synopsis for this sequel: The Four Horsemen return along with a new generation of illusionists performing mind-melding twists, turns, surprises, and magic unlike anything ever captured on film. I hope the tricks are more realistic this time! Now You Don’t stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt, with Rosamund Pike, and Morgan Freeman. Director Ruben Fleischer “has delivered all of the twists and turns and sleight-of-hand that audiences expect from this franchise while upping the stakes and scale in every way. We can’t wait for audiences to discover what he’s done.” This is slightly better than the first trailer but it still looks like one gigantic, CGI-filled mess without any actual legitimate magic tricks in it. And the jokes are extra cringe, too.

Here’s the second official trailer for Ruben Fleischer’s Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, via YouTube:

“Unlock the illusion.” A third installment of the Now You See Me heist series. The Four Horsemen return along with a new generation of illusionists performing mind-melding twists, turns, surprises, and magic unlike anything ever captured on film. Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, formerly known as Now You See Me 3, is directed by American filmmaker Ruben Fleischer, director of the films Zombieland, 30 Minutes or Less, Gangster Squad, Venom, Zombieland: Double Tap, and Uncharted previously, plus episodes of “Superstore”, “The Good Doctor”, and “St. Denis Medical” most recently. The screenplay is written by Eric Warren Singer, Seth Grahame-Smith, Michael Lesslie; from characters and a story created by Ed Solomon. Produced by Bobby Cohen, Alex Kurtzman, and Gergö Balika. Lionsgate will debut Fleischer’s Now You See Me: Now You Don’t in theaters nationwide starting November 14th, 2025 coming up this fall. Who’s in?

Another Trailer for ‘Anemone’ Starring Daniel Day-Lewis & Sean Bean

by Alex Billington

“Don’t recognize me, do ya?” It’s nearly time. Focus Features has debuted another trailer for Anemone, the highly anticipated return of monumental British actor Daniel Day-Lewis (who’s now 68). It’s premiering soon at the 2025 New York Film Festival in their Spotlight section as a World Premiere before in theaters in October. Will it be any good? We’ll know soon enough. Family bonds between fathers, sons, and brothers are explored as complex relationships unfold through personal journeys & generational conflicts. The story follows a middle-aged man who sets out from his suburban home on a journey deep into the woods, where he reconnects with his estranged hermit brother, played by Oscar-winner Daniel Day-Lewis. Bonded by a complicated past, the men share a fraught and slightly tender relationship. The film also stars Sean Bean and Samantha Morton, and it’s co-written by & directed by Daniel’s son Ronan Day-Lewis as his first feature film. With striking cinematography by DP Ben Fordesman. That first trailer is better than this one, though there’s plenty of intriguing footage here as well: the explosion, the weird white object. I’m curious…

Here’s the second official trailer (+ poster) for Ronan Day-Lewis’s film Anemone, from Focus’ YouTube:

Anemone Film Trailer

Anemone Film Poster

You can rewatch the first official trailer for Ronan Day-Lewis’s Anemone film right here for more footage.

Intro via NYFF: “Three-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis roars back to the screen for his first role in eight years in this absorbing family drama directed by Ronan Day-Lewis about lives undone by seemingly irreconcilable legacies of political and personal violence. Co-written by both father and son, the Northern England–set Anemone begins as a middle-aged man (Sean Bean) sets out from his suburban home on a journey into the woods, where he reconnects with his estranged hermit brother (Day-Lewis). Bonded by a mysterious, complicated past, the men share a fraught, if occasionally tender relationship—one that was forever altered by shattering events decades earlier.” Anemone is directed by first-time filmmaker Ronan Day-Lewis, son of Daniel, making his feature directorial debut with this project after a few other shorts. The screenplay is written by Ronan Day-Lewis & Daniel Day-Lewis. Produced by Plan B Entertainment. This is premiering at the 2025 New York Film Festival this fall. Focus Features then debuts Ronan Day-Lewis’s Anemone film in select US theaters starting October 3rd, 2025 this fall. First impression? Looking good?

“Be the first one to find God, and you can rewrite your fate.” CMC Pictures in China has revealed the main official trailer for a big action fantasy sequel called A Writer’s Odyssey 2, the follow-up to the hit movie A Writer’s Odyssey from 2021. “Reality is being overwritten by fiction…” Can he stop it? The writer is back again for another epic story. “Before you step into the theater, make sure you’re not his next character. The story isn’t finished yet… but the NPCs are already off-script! Plot is spiraling out of control—return to reality while you still can.” Struggling novelist Lu Kongwen gives in to a powerful temptation, plunging himself and his fictional characters into an inescapable crisis. Through rediscovering his purpose, he joins forces with his creations to heroically resolve the dual-world catastrophe. The movie stars Deng Chao, Dong Zijian, Lei Jiayin, Wang Shengdi, and Ding Chengxin. Just like the first movie, this looks like a crazy action-packed, CGI-filled adventure with tons of creatures and characters and fights and everything else. Have fun.

Here’s the official trailer (+ posters) for Yang Lu’s action sequel A Writer’s Odyssey 2, from YouTube:

What do we have here? Invada Films has debuted an official UK trailer for a survival thriller indie film titled Game, made by filmmaker John Minton as his feature directorial debut. Not to be confused with the Gerard Butler video game action movie Gamer from 2009. Game is a thriller set during the ’90s British rave scene, where two men, one a thief and one a poacher, must use their wits to survive after a car crash in the woods. It’s produced by Geoff Barrow of the band Portishead, trying out something new. Starring Marc Bessant & Jason Williamson. The official UK premiere will be on October 16th at the opening night of Mayhem Film Festival in Nottingham, before the film hits UK theaters in November. Though still no US release set yet for this one. The film looks like some funky experimental indie horror creation, mixing nature and raves and psychological mania and more. What’s going on with these blokes in the forest? Keep an eye out for it…

Here’s the official UK trailer (+ poster) for John Minton’s film Game, from YouTube (via Live for Films):

Game Film Trailer

Game Film Poster

Late summer 1993. After stealing a stash of money and drugs, aging raver David (Marc Bessant) crashes his car deep in the woods – trapped in the wreckage, injured and helpless, he hangs suspended between life & death. When a mysterious poacher (Jason Williamson) discovers him, no rescue comes, only a watchful, unsettling presence that seems intent on letting nature finish the job. As the hours stretch and the elements close in, a tense and claustrophobic battle of wills, and wits, unfolds – where survival hinges on outlasting both the wilderness and the predator at its edge. Game is directed by British filmmaker John Minton, making his feature directorial debut with this new project. The screenplay is co-written by Geoff Barrow, Marc Bessant, John Minton, and Rob Williams. It’s produced by Geoff Barrow & Deborah Rawlings. This is premiering at a few small festivals before it hits theaters. Invada Films will debut Minton’s Game film in UK cinemas starting November 21st, 2025 this fall. No US release date is set yet – stay tuned. Who’s curious?

From Executive Producers Richard Gere & Oren Moverman, the doc film opens in limited US theaters this October – honoring the Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday. Gere explains: “Watching how the Dalai Lama embodies love, generosity, and kindness allows viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with themselves in a way that feels real and achievable.” I’m really glad he addresses how bad things are now in the 21st century and how stopping climate change is important to global happiness. Still as sharp as ever! We all need to listen to him.
