“Lies!” “Truth!” “What’s the difference…?” Scary! Don’t skip this one. Focus Features has unveiled a second trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos’ funky new film titled Bugonia, a sort of sci-fi conspiracy thriller set for release at the end of October. The film premiered at the 2025 Venice & Telluride Film Festivals to mostly positive reviews (here’s mine) – many are quoted in this trailer below. This is Yorgos’ next enticing follow-up to Poor Things and Kinds of Kindness, re-teaming with Emma and Jesse. Two conspiracy obsessed young men kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major pharmaceutical company, convinced that she is really an alien intent on destroying planet Earth. Maybe she actually is? What will happen if they find out? This is a remake of the Korean film titled Save the Green Planet!, which not many people have seen yet. The cast in Bugonia includes Emma Stone as Michelle, CEO of a pharma corporation, plus Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias, and Alicia Silverstone. I’m a fan of this one! It’s not the best of the year, but it’s just the right dose of kooky & shocking & entertaining – as only Yorgos can pull off. Emma Stone phone home. 👽

Two conspiracy obsessed young men kidnap the high-powered CEO (Emma Stone) of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth. It is an English-language remake of the 2003 South Korean film Save the Green Planet! by Jang Joon-hwan. Bugonia is directed by the acclaimed, award-winning Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, director of My Best Friend, Kinetta, Dogtooth, Alps, The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Favourite, Poor Things, and Kinds of Kindness, plus other shorts and music videos. The screenplay is written by Will Tracy. Based on the original 2003 South Korean film Save the Green Planet!. Produced by Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Yorgos Lanthimos, Emma Stone, Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, Miky Lee, & Jerry Kyoungboum Ko. The film already premiered at all the fall festivals including Venice, Telluride, London. Focus Features will release Lanthimos’ Bugonia in select US theaters starting October 24th, 2025, opening in wide release on October 31st in the fall. So how does that look?

Forked, described as a “Culinary Disaster film” about a famous chef. This doc first premiered in 2023 and it played at the Austin, Palm Springs, Vail, Newport Beach, Tallgrass, Sonoma, and other film festivals. It’s finally being released on VOD this fall for everyone to watch. “I didn’t know how it would all end and I definitely sometimes wished I could set my hair on fire,” said filmmaker Liz Lachman. “But then we wouldn’t have this film.” This documentary film follows chef Susan Feniger to Southeast Asia tasting street food, to build her first solo restaurant in LA. Featuring Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, and Mary Sue Milliken, it’s an inspirational story of not IF one fails, but HOW. Shot by her longtime filmmaker partner, Susan Feniger. Forked is a verite documentary film following award-winning celebrity chef Susan Feniger on her first solo restaurant, her passionate struggle and quest to bring global street food under one roof in the form of a new LA restaurant: Street (which is no longer open). This looks like a spunky, fun look at how hard it is to start a restaurant and make it successful. And I would like to try everything on her menu.

“Follow your heart, feel the love, and find your home with The Family McMullen.” Warner Bros revealed the official trailer for The Family McMullen, a new movie made by Edward Burns. It’s the long-awaited follow-up to the first film that Edward Burns ever directed called The Brothers McMullen (in 1995), about three Irish Catholic brothers from Long Island. As with the original,  The Family McMullen is an ensemble comedy both written and directed by Edward Burns – which tracks the romantic entanglements of a now 50-something Barry McMullen (Burns) and his 20-something kids, as well as his brother Patrick and widowed sister-in-law Molly, who are also facing unexpected romantic hurdles. It’s getting a one-day-only release in theaters this month, before it’s available to watch at home anytime. 🎄 The Family McMullen stars Connie Britton, Edward Burns, & Michael McGlone reprising their roles in the first film, along with Tracee Ellis Ross, Halston Sage, Juliana Canfield, Pico Alexander, and Brain d’Arcy James. This looks much more cheesier (about the kids this time!) and more like a Hallmark Channel movie than the original.

“What if we make it worse?” “Worse than this?!” Ha! 🎃 Tubi has unveiled their fun official trailer for the horror-for-kids movie called R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead, ready for streaming on Tubi this month during spooky season. Inspired by Stine’s beloved The Haunting Hour, the new young-adult horror film blends just the right mix of chills & thrills, delivering a frightfully fun experience. Of course there’s an actual very scary Pumpkinhead movie from 1988 made by Stan Winston, but this one is a bit more tame. When his brother disappears and everyone forgets he existed, Sam must unravel the mystery before Finn is gone forever. R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead stars Bean Reid, Adeline Lo, Kevin McNulty, Bob Frazer, Matty Finochio, and Seth Isaac Johnson. “A playful blend of good fun, big scares with an element of adventure that taps into everything audiences love about Halloween and young-adult horror.” It does seem mostly entertaining, though definitely looks like a streaming movie. The monster looks freaky enough to really scare kids though.

“You’re not alone, Shy… That’s the whole point.” Netflix has debuted one more final official trailer for the film titled Steve, from the same Belgian filmmaker, Tim Mielants, behind Cillian’s last film Small Things Like These. Steve is now playing on Netflix as of today (view it here) – after premiering at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last month to mostly positive reviews. The film follows the headteacher Steve battling for his reform college’s survival while managing his mental health & other challenges. Concurrently, the troubled student Shy navigates his violent tendencies and fragility, torn between his past and his future prospects. Cillian Murphy stars as the titular teacher Steve, with a cast including Tracey Ullman, Jay Lycurgo, Simbi Ajikawo, Emily Watson, Douggie McMeekin, Youssef Kerkour, Luke Ayres, Joshua J Parker, Araloyin Oshunremi, Tut Nyuot, Tom Moya, Ahmed Ismail, Joshua Barry, and others. The film features music by Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow. Adapted from Max Porter’s book “Shy”: a story “about guilt, rage, imagination, & boyhood, about being lost in the dark and learning you’re not alone.” This is a much better trailer and really makes me want to watch this. A compassionate, honest film. Worth a look.

Set in the mid-90s, Steve is a reimagining of Max Porter’s bestseller Shy. The film follows a pivotal day in the life of headteacher Steve (Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy) and his students at a last-chance reform school amidst a world that has forsaken them. As Steve fights to protect the school’s integrity and impending closure, we witness him grappling with his own mental health. In parallel to Steve’s struggles, we meet Shy (Jay Lycurgo), a troubled teen caught between his past and what lies ahead as he tries to reconcile his inner fragility with his impulse for self-destruction and violence. Steve is directed by Belgian filmmaker Tim Mielants, director of the films Patrick Will, and Small Things Like These previously, plus short films & TV work including episode of “Legion”, “Tales from the Loop” and “The Responder” recently. The screenplay is written by Max Porter, adapted from his own bestselling novel titled “Shy”. It’s produced by Alan Moloney, Cillian Murphy, and Tina Pawlik. This will premiere at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival this fall. Netflix will then debut Meilants’ Steve film opening in select US theaters on September 19th, 2025, then streaming on Netflix starting October 3rd coming up this fall. Look any good? “I can’t imagine having more wonderful friends.” HBO Max has revealed the final official trailer for their new animated version of Charlotte’s Web, the timeless tale of a pig on a farm. This brand new adaptation of E.B. White’s classic story is produced by Sesame Workshop. It’s now streaming on HBO Max – available to watch at home right away. The stylized 3D rendering was brought to life by Guru Studios, the Toronto-based animation powerhouse. A story of the friendship between a livestock pig named Wilbur and a barn spider named Charlotte. When Wilbur’s life is in danger, Charlotte tries to help him any way she can. Bringing to life once again one of the most cherished friendship stories of all time. Featuring the voices of Amy Adams as Charlotte, Elijah Wood as Adult Wilbur, Griffin Robert Faulkner as Young Wilbur, Jean Smart as Narrator, Cynthia Erivo as Goose, Natalie Chan as Fern, Danny Trejo as Gander, Randall Park as Templeton, Chris Diamantopoulos as Homer, Rosario Dawson as Edith, Ana Ortiz as Dolores, Tom Everett Scott as John. There was also a famous 2006 live-action version of this story, with CGI animals, which was a huge hit starring Dakota Fanning. This new version looks charming though a bit clunky. Enjoy.

“No one can stop me from rewriting history…” “You can’t change this world!” Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for the movie The Royal Cat, an animated adventure movie from China. This first opened in China last year after playing at the Shanghai Film Festival – now set for a VOD release in the US starting on October 14th this fall. In an ancient city full of magic and mystery, a curious young apprentice and a clever, tailless talking cat team up to solve two strange cases: the missing crown prince and townspeople turning into animals! With the Mid-Autumn Festival fast approaching, this unlikely duo must uncover a royal secret and save the day before it’s too late. In Jinling City, General Kou’s bodyguard cat Zhan Ao partners with the young Bao Zheng, Jinmaoshu and General Kou’s daughter Kou Zhu to find truth, solve the mysterious case together, exposed a huge conspiracy. The original Chinese voice cast includes Tutehameng (aka Tu-Te-Ha-Meng), Zhengyang Ma, Jie Zhang, Yi Zhu, Xiaoyu Liu, Cong Liu, Ai Zhang, Linhao Qing, Nan Li, Chenyang Fu, Mingzhou Zhao, Lu Zhang, Yajie Hu, Bahu, Duo Xu, Deyu Miao, Ying Yang. However, this new trailer is for the English dub version featuring English voice actors in all the main roles.

In ancient Jinling City, General Kou’s guard cat Zhanao (voiced by Tu-Te-Ha-Meng) lost his fighting spirit due to the general’s sacrifice and became a stray cat. Soon after, several bizarre cases of humans turning into beasts occurred in the city, and even the prince mysteriously disappeared, and the stray cat Zhanao was involved. The young Bao Zheng tracks down and investigates and takes care of the injured Zhan Ao. Their partners Jin Mao Shu and Kou Zhu, the daughter of General Kou, find the real culprit behind the scenes & expose the conspiracy. The Royal Cat, also titled Jin Ling Yu Mao, is made by Chinese animation filmmaker Liang Cao, making their feature directorial debut. The screenplay is written by Yue Luo. This already opened in China last year after premiering at the 2024 Shanghai Film Festival. Well Go USA debuts Liang Cao’s The Royal Cat direct-to-VOD in the US starting October 14th, 2025 this fall. The haunting official trailer for Psycho Killer has finally come, providing a disturbing preview of a violent cross-country manhunt initiated by Barbarian actress Georgina Campbell. The horror thriller that awaits us is a chilling dive into the depths of psychological darkness written by Se7en screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker.

Georgina Campbell plays Jane Thorne, a Kansas highway patrolwoman whose world shatters upon the brutal murder of her husband, a state trooper. Inspired by anger and grief, Thorne isn’t about to back down and instead embarks on her own relentless hunt for the killer. But this is no typical game of cat-and-mouse—the trailer hints at something much darker. The killer she’s tracking, played with chilling ferocity by James Preston Rogers, is a Satanic serial murderer, a “Satanic Slasher,” whose depraved motives and bloody ceremonies are far greater than anything Thorne had envisioned.

Against desolate Midwestern landscapes and drenched in terror, the film’s mood recalls the dark psychological horror of Se7en and Zodiac. Horror legend Malcolm McDowell adds extra weight to the cast as he plays a as-yet-undeclared role that suggests deeper psychological depths in the narrative.

Directed by Gavin Polone, in his feature directorial debut after years as a busy producer, the film reanimates a script that Walker is said to have written over a decade ago. Now, with the producers of Barbarian behind it, Psycho Killer is being realized with all the bloody tension and psychological firepower horror enthusiasts desire.

With its dark mood, constant velocity, and profoundly disturbing premise, Psycho Killer is sure to be a must-see for fans of the genre. Psycho Killer opens in theaters across the country on February 20, 2026, and based on the preview, it’s not for the faint of heart.

All of the feelings are safe…” Mubi has revealed their official trailer for a family drama series called Hal & Harper, the latest from indie filmmaker Cooper Raiff, following his two films Shithouse and Cha Cha Real Smooth. Hal & Harper premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival in their new Series section, and also played at the Tribeca Film Festival, despite not being a film (I know, I know, everyone is premiering series nowadays). Hal & Harper & Dad chart the evolution of their family… From Cooper Raiff comes Hal & Harper, an 8-episode series about siblings Hal and Harper, whose lifelong closeness is both their comfort and their curse. When their father announces he’s having a baby with his girlfriend, the two must confront their past & the codependent bond shaping their adult lives. With Lili Reinhart, Cooper Raiff, Mark Ruffalo as their Dad, Betty Gilpin as his new girlfriend, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Asher Alexander, Addison Timlin, and Havana Rose Liu. This looks sweet and charming, more emotional than comedic with heartfelt performances. This has great reviews from the fests – tune in later this month.

The gripping trailer of Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar’s Bhagwat Chapter 1: Raakshas has been released officially, giving audiences a gritty view of a crime, mystery, and moral conflict-filled world. The crime-thriller is directed by Akshay Shere and also stars Ayesha Kaduskar in a major role, and will have its premiere on ZEE5 on October 17.

The trailer kicks off with Arshad Warsi’s character, Vishwas Bhagwat, a tough and troubled cop who is suspended after violently injuring a suspect during an interrogation. Soon after, he is transferred to the remote town of Robertsganj in Uttar Pradesh, where he’s assigned to a disturbing case involving the disappearance of several young girls.

Jitendra Kumar is a seemingly mild-mannered science teacher whose behavior soon arouses suspicion. In a spine-chilling sequence, he is observed luring a little girl under shady circumstances. Vishwas, believing him to be guilty, arrests and beats him up at the police station. But the story takes a dramatic turn as Jitendra’s character strikes back — but not with fists, with brains — defending himself in court with fierce resolve.
