“You’ve got to cover your tracks… Any messes you made.” Paramount Pictures has debuted the final official trailer for the Roofman movie, arriving in theaters later this week. Telling the true story of a former Army Ranger & struggling father who turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in roofs, earning him that nickname. It’s a new film co-written by and directed by Derek Cianfrance, his latest since making The Light Between Oceans in 2016. “How far would you go to change who you are?” About the story of the rooftop robber, Jeffrey Manchester, and his time on the lam evading capture. After escaping prison, he secretly lives inside a Toys R Us store for six months, surviving mostly undetected while planning his next move. When he falls for Leigh, a divorced mom who is drawn to his undeniable charm, his double life soon begins to unravel. Starring Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst, with Ben Mendelsohn, LaKeith Stanfield, Juno Temple, Melonie Diaz, Uzo Aduba, Lily Collias, Jimmy O. Yang, and also Peter Dinklage. It premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival to mostly positive and a few mixed reviews. This trailer tries to capture the mix of tones – it’s comedic but also more sweet & emotional than expected. “If you’re having a hard time…” “I feel fine.” Mubi has unveiled the main official trailer for the film Die My Love, the highly anticipated new film from acclaimed Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay. Set to open in theaters in early November next month. Die My Love first premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival a few months ago to mostly mixed & negative reviews. Too loud, too crazy, doesn’t amount too much. But worth a look if you want something extra wild… In a remote forgotten rural area, a mother struggles to maintain her sanity as she battles with psychosis. Die My Love is Ramsay’s blistering depiction of a woman engulfed by love and madness, featuring stunning performances from Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson as a married couple dealing with life and a new baby. The cast also includes LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte, and Sissy Spacek. Based on the book by Ariana Harwicz. With cinematography by Seamus McGarvey. This trailer is very different than the teaser – playing it like it’s a scary thriller more than the crazy drama it really is. Very strange choice that doesn’t really sell it correctly. Does anyone want to see this film anymore?

Here’s the official trailer (+ posters) for Lynne Ramsay’s film Die My Love, direct from Mubi’s YouTube:

You can rewatch the initial teaser trailer for Ramsay’s Die My Love film right here for the first look again.

A hopeful young and loving couple (Grace & Jackson – Lawrence & Pattinson) move from New York to an inherited house in the country. Grace tries to find her identity with a new baby in the isolated countryside. Yet as she begins to unravel, it’s not in weakness but imagination, strength and a stunning untamed vivacity that she discovers herself anew. Die My Love is directed by acclaimed Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay, director of the films Ratcatcher, Morvern Callar, We Need to Talk About Kevin, and You Were Never Really Here previously, plus many other shorts. The screenplay is written by Enda Walsh & Lynne Ramsay and Alice Birch. Adapted from the the book by Ariana Harwicz. Produced by Andrea Calderwood, Justine Ciarrocchi, Jennifer Lawrence, Thad Luckinbill, Trent Luckinbill, Martin Scorsese, and Molly Smith. This initially premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. Mubi will debut Ramsay’s Die My Love film in select US thaters starting on November 7th, 2025 this fall. Look any good? Who’s curious?

“We’ll never win this war. Their lives depend on this sh&!” Roadside Attractions + Saban Films revealed an official trailer for a crime thriller titled King Ivory, currently scheduled for release starting in November. Set for a wide release in theaters – yet another new movie about fentanyl and the opioid drug crisis. This acutally premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival last year in the “Orizzonti Extra” section, and it also played at Rotterdam and the Newport Beach Film Festival earlier this year. Based upon extensive research with law enforcement, gangs, inmates, migrants, addicts – an exposé on fentanyl trafficking, and its effect on all walks of life. Set in Tulsa, it’s about a cop whose son becomes addicted, sending him deep into the underbelly of the drug world. King Ivory features an ensemble including James Badge Dale, Ben Foster, Michael Mando, Rory Cochrane, Ritchie Coster, George Carroll, Sam Quartin, newcomer Jasper Jones, Academy Award-nominee Graham Greene, and Academy Award-winner Melissa Leo. Despite all the hype, this looks like another generic, cliche action thriller with nothing new that we haven’t seen before.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for John Swab’s crime thriller King Ivory, direct from YouTube:

King Ivory Trailer

King Ivory Poster

Based upon extensive research with law enforcement, gangs, inmates, migrants, and addicts, all walks of life intersect in this fentanyl exposé. With potency 100 times that of heroin and nearly undetectable at the border, fentanyl has flooded the market, triggering a tidal wave of overdoses, crime, and addiction. Work hits too close to home for Tulsa drug cop, Layne West, when his son, Jack, also becomes an addict. In conjunction with his partner, Ty, and FBI counterpart, Beatty, West makes it his mission to take down those responsible, including the Mexican cartel’s local shot-caller, Ramón Garza, Indian Brotherhood War Chief, Holt Lightfeather, who controls state-wide trafficking from inside the Oklahoma State Penitentiary at McAlester a.k.a. “Big Mac,” and the local Irish Mob family outfit, led by George “Smiley” Greene, along with his mother, Ginger, and uncle, Mickey. As Holt educates West: “The cartels want your kids, the next generation, who want what is new, and fentanyl is new.” King Ivory is written and directed by American filmmaker John Swab, director of the movies Let Me Make You a Martyr, Run with the Hunted, Body Brokers, Ida Red, Candy Land, Little Dixie, One Day as a Lion, Lone Gone Heroes previously. Produced by Jeremy M. Rosen. This initially premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival last year. Roadside + Saban will debut Swab’s King Ivory movie in theaters nationwide starting November 14th, 2025 this fall. Any good?

“You two need to figure this out.” Night Breeze & Entertainment Squad debuted the official trailer for a romantic comedy film titled I Really Love My Husband, an indie romantic comedy from filmmaker GG Hawkins. This is getting released on VOD in November after a small theatrical run in September. Filmed in the beautiful lush islands of Panamá, IRLMH follows Teresa and her “golden-boy” husband Drew who try to enjoy their honeymoon (albeit a year late), but what should be effortless intimacy keeps snagging on small hesitations & unspoken irritations. Enter Paz, the charismatic expat who manages their rental, and someone both Teresa & Drew begin to lay eyes on. After some intimate moments (and shroom ingestions) the couple invite Paz to help spice things up — for better or for worse. Starring Madison Lanesey, Travis Quentin Young, and Arta Gee. IRLMH is a sharp, funny, and emotionally resonant exploration of modern love, identity, and the complexities of commitment. Trusting ambiguity over tidy answers, while letting audiences simmer in questions of desire and commitment, with distinctive blend of humor and sensitivity. This seems like it’s more than about marriage itself, it’s also about sexuality and fluidity and being honest. Take a look.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for GG Hawkins’ film I Really Love My Husband, from YouTube:

I Really Love My Husband Poster

I Really Love My Husband Poster

On a honeymoon in the lush islands of Bocas del Toro, Panamá, Teresa & her “golden boy” husband Drew try to settle into married life – only to find their postcard escape sharpening the edges of what’s already fragile between them. What should be effortless intimacy keeps snagging on small hesitations & unspoken irritations, and Teresa notices the gap between the ideal she’s projected onto Drew and the man besides her. When they meet Paz, the charismatic expat who manages their rental, their balance shifts. Teresa is drawn in – part curiosity, part longing – that attraction exposes what she’s been avoiding: the possibility that her desires don’t fit the story she’s been telling herself. Awkward truths tumble out in half-jokes, glances carry more weight than confessions, and the tropical setting turns ironic – a paradise that won’t let them hide. What follows is a low-boil, funny-uneasy dance among 3 people, where miscommunications and mixed signals peel back questions of commitment, fantasy, and who gets to define a marriage. The closer Teresa gets to naming what she wants, the more the trip offers a reckoning with the cost of honesty.

I Really Love My Husband is written and directed by American indie filmmaker G.G. Hawkins, making her feature directorial debut after a few short films and TV series previously. From a story by GG Hawkins, Madison Lanesey, and Scott Monahan. It’s produced by Elle Roth-Brunet; co-produced by Maria Ventura, Natalie LeVeck. This initially premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. Entertainment Squad already debuted GG Hawkins’ I Really Love My Husband film in select US theaters in September – it will also be out to watch on VOD starting November 4th, 2025 this fall. “What I see is a man way beyond any redemption.” This looks like one helluva sweaty thriller! Netflix has revealed the full official trailer for the vivid gambling movie titled Ballad of a Small Player, the latest creation from the acclaimed German filmmaker Edward Berger following All Quiet on the Western Front & Conclave most recently. This premiered at the 2025 Telluride & Toronto Film Festivals last month. And it hits theaters briefly later in October before it’s streaming on Netflix this month. When his past and his debts start to catch up with him, a high-stakes gambler / corrupt English lawyer laying low in Macau in the East encounters a kindred spirit who might just hold the key to salvation. The book it’s based on is also described as a “vivid and feverish portrait of a soul in self-inflicted purgatorio.” Exactly what this looks like. The film stars Colin Farrell as Lord Doyle, with Fala Chen, Deanie Ip, Alex Jennings, and Tilda Swinton as a private investigator chasing him. With cinematography by James Friend (All Quiet on the Western Front, “The Acolyte”), and music composed by Volker Bertelmann. Even though this has pretty bad reviews from the festivals, I’m still curious about it anyway. The visuals and intensity of Farrell’s performance look good.

Here’s main official trailer (+ poster) for Edward Berger’s film Ballad of a Small Player, from YouTube:

Ballad of a Small Player Teaser Poster

You can watch the teaser trailer for Berger’s Ballad of a Small Player film right here for the first look again.

Lord Doyle (Colin Farrell) is laying low in Macau – spending days & nights on the casino floors, drinking heavily and gambling what little money he has left. Struggling to keep up with his fast-rising debts, he is offered a lifeline by the mysterious Dao Ming (Fala Chen), a casino employee with secrets of her own. In hot pursuit is Cynthia Blithe (Tilda Swinton) – a private investigator ready to confront Doyle with what he is running from. As Doyle tries to climb to salvation, the confines of reality start to close in. Ballad of a Small Player is directed by the Academy Award-nominated German filmmaker Edward Berger, director of the films Strait-Jacket, Sidewalk Hotel, Smelly Dinners, Wanderbread, Gomez: Heads or Tails, Jack, All My Loving, 2022’s All Quiet on the Western Front, and Conclave previously, and TV series “Deutschland 83” & “Patrick Melrose”. The screenplay is written by Rowan Joffe (of Last Resort, 28 Weeks Later, The American, Brighton Rock, Before I Go To Sleep, Locked In). Based on the novel of the same name from Lawrence Osborne. Produced by Mike Goodridge, Edward Berger, Matthew James Wilkinson. It premieres at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival this fall. Netflix will then debut Berger’s Ballad of a Small Player film in select US theaters briefly on October 15th, 2025, and streaming on Netflix starting October 29th, 2025.

“The closest fans can get without being arrested.” Get ready for another spectacular concert experience! IMAX is re-releasing one of their original IMAX concert docs again on the big screen in theaters December. First released in 1991, Rolling Stones – At the Max is the first and only concert feature shot with IMAX cameras. “At the Max was always about bringing fans as close as possible to the energy of our live shows. With IMAX, that experience is bigger, louder, and more immersive than ever—we can’t wait for audiences to feel it all over again.” –The Rolling Stones. The film, which has not been in theaters since 2007, has already made $17 million worldwide before. Packed with career-defining performances of iconic hits including “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Brown Sugar,” “Start Me Up,” and more, the film puts audiences at the heart of the crowd, where every moment is enhanced by IMAX’s unmatched scale and sound. Starring Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood, and Bill Wyman. While it’s a common occurrence nowadays, it’s actually pretty cool to think about this being the very first concert doc they shot with actual IMAX film cameras and IMAX film stock (it was a big thing in the 90s – often screening at science museums). And now it’ll be even bigger & louder than ever! Go rock out with the Rolling Stones again in theaters this December.

The result was the first-ever feature-length IMAX concert film, showcasing the incomparable talents of the Rolling Stones and their stadium-filling power. First released in 1991, the critically acclaimed film is the first and only concert feature shot with IMAX film cameras. Starring Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood, and Bill Wyman, the film has been newly remastered with IMAX’s proprietary Digital Media Remastering (DMR) technology and features a brand-new sound mix—delivering the most immersive and electrifying presentation of this legendary performance to date. Rolling Stones – At the Max is a live concert doc co-directed by the filmmakers Noel Archambault, David Douglas, Roman Kroitor, and Julien Temple. Executive produced by André Picard and Michael Cohl. The IMAX movie was originally released in theaters in June 1992, and was also re-released again in 2007. IMAX will re-release Rolling Stones – At the Max remastered in IMAX theaters worldwide starting on December 10th, 2025 later this year. Want to watch?

“I don’t want to live in a world where he wins…” Netflix has unveiled the full trailer for a funky animated comedy movie titled The Twits, adapted right from Roald Dahl’s novel of the same name. Continuing their partnership with the Roald Dahl estate to adapt his work. It’s already ready and will be available to watch on Netflix in a few weeks. The Twits tells the story of Mr. and Mrs. Twit, the meanest, smelliest, nastiest people on the face of the earth, and their epic battle against a family of magical Muggle-Wumps and two brave children who refuse to let the Twits’ cruelty win. From director Phil Johnston (Ralph Breaks the Internet), this animated movie features new music from David Byrne featuring Hayley Williams. The voice voice cast features Margo Martindale & Johnny Vegas, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Ryan Lopez, Emilia Clarke, Natalie Portman , Timothy Simons, Nicole Byer, Jason Mantzoukas, Alan Tudyk, Mark Proksch, Rebecca Wisocky, and Charlie Berens. Johnston exclaims: “On behalf of the massive gaggle of weirdos who made this movie, we can’t wait for the world to meet our strange, ugly baby.” Ha. This looks so weird and wacky, exactly what we should be getting with any Roald Dahl movies these days. Check it out.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Phil Johnston’s animation The Twits, direct from YouTube:

The Twits Movie Trailer

The Twits Movie Trailer

Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Phil Johnston reimagines Roald Dahl’s iconic characters, Jim & Credenza Twit, in their first feature animated adventure. The Twits tells the story of Mr. & Mrs. Twit, the meanest, smelliest, nastiest people in the world who also happen to own and operate the most disgusting, most dangerous, most idiotic amusement park in the world, Twitlandia. But when the Twits rise to power in their town, two brave children and a family of magical Muggle-Wumps, are forced to become as tricky as the Twits in order to save the city. A hysterically funny, wild ride of a film (chock-full of the Twits’ beloved tricks – from Wormy Spaghetti to the Dreaded Shrinks), The Twits is also a story for our times, about the never-ending battle between cruelty and empathy. The Twits is directed by animation filmmaker Phil Johnston, director of Ralph Breaks the Internet; co-writer Wreck-It Ralph, Cedar Rapids, co-writer Zootopia. Co-directed by Katie Shanahan & Todd Demong. The screenplay is written by Phil Johnston and Meg Favreau. Adapted from Roald Dahl’s novel. Produced by Phil Johnston, Maggie Malone, Daisy May West. With animation by Jellyfish Pictures (The Boss Baby, The Bad Guys). Netflix will release Johnston’s The Twits movie streaming on Netflix starting October 17th, 2025 this month. ‘Armed Only With a Camera: Life & Death of Brent Renaud’ Doc Trailer

by Alex Billington
October 6, 2025
Source: YouTube

“The way you hold that camera, you’re doing it from your heart.” HBO Max has revealed the official trailer for a documentary film titled Armed Only With a Camera: Life & Death of Brent Renaud, made by his brother Craig Renaud. This first premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year – where it won the Audience Award for Best Documentary. It’ll be streaming on HBO Max later this October. Armed Only With a Camera is a powerful tribute to a war photojournalist who risked everything on the front lines. On March 13th, 2022, doc filmmaker Brent Renaud was killed by Russian soldiers – the first American journalist to die while reporting on the war in Ukraine. His younger brother & collaborator, Craig Renaud, recovered Brent’s body and his final recordings from Ukraine and brought them back home to Arkansas. As Brent’s journey to his final resting place unfolds, the doc film chronicles the years he and his brother spent covering some of the world’s most dangerous conflicts as photojournalists. Brent’s journey home also serves as a window into what drove him as a journalist, and how he viewed the world through his lens. This film is dedicated to Brent and all journalists who use cameras to fight for peace. They’re more important than ever.

Trailer for Renaud’s doc Armed Only With a Camera: Life & Death of Brent Renaud, via YouTube:

Armed Only With A Camera: Life & Death of Brent Renaud Trailer

Armed Only With A Camera: Life & Death of Brent Renaud Poster

The vérité film includes harrowing footage of the brothers’ reporting from around the globe, including time embedded with the Arkansas National Guard in Iraq, the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the war in Somalia, immigrants’ journeying from Honduras to the United States, and Brent’s reportage upon arriving in Ukraine. Despite bearing witness to devastating loss & suffering, he fearlessly covered stories from the front lines, while empathically capturing the impact on innocent people. Unflinching in its depiction of death, loss, and the toll of war, the film is Brent’s ultimate testament to the critical value of wartime reporting & tribute to journalists providing on-the-ground, life-threatening coverage of world events. As journalism is becoming one of the most dangerous professions, Armed Only With a Camera is dedicated to Brent & all devoted journalists who use their cameras to work for truth & understanding.

Armed Only With a Camera: Life & Death of Brent Renaud is directed by the brothers Craig Renaud & Brent Renaud (posthumously) as a “Renaud Brothers Film”. They’re also co-directors of the films Warrior Champions, Shelter, Meth Storm, and other TV series and many doc projects previously. Produced by Juan Arredondo, Craig Renaud & Brent Renaud; in association with DCTV. This initially premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. HBO Docs will release Armed Only With a Camera: Life & Death of Brent Renaud streaming on HBO Max starting on October 21st, 2025 this fall. Anyone want to watch it?

“Stay away from these people…” Yes! They seem very dangerous! EuropaCorp has revealed the first official French trailer for a film titled Hell in Paradise, a thriller from filmmaker Leïla Sy, directed of the Street Flow movies and Yo Mama previously. It’s shot mainly in English (they speak Dhivehi in Maldives), hence why we’re featuring this first trailer. The film is set for a release in French cinemas starting in November – but no idea on a US date. Nina from Marseilles decides to take a fancy hotel job in the Maldives (a beautiful island nation in the Indian Ocean), but her paradise turns nightmarish after an incident. Falsely accused, she must evade traps to escape her unjust life sentence. Nina is thrown right into a horrible spiral of lies and manipulation and must outwit them all to escape this paradise turned hell… Starring Nora Arnezeder as Nina, as well as Alyy Khan, Shubham Saraf, Ranjit Krishnamma, Sartaj Garewal, Louka Meliava, Joséphine de la Baume, and Maria Bello. Another frightening story about how powerful people try to pass on their crimes to others without any power. Sad and upsetting – but I hope she will fight back and win.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Leïla Sy’s thriller Hell in Paradise, direct from YouTube:
