“Her music will lead us into the future.” “No pressure.” Chroma has revealed the official trailer for an indie thriller film titled Decibel, the second feature directed by producer / filmmaker Zac Locke. After originally premiering at a few genre film festivals last year, it’s now set for US release on VOD starting in November this fall. “Decibel is exactly the kind of daring, inventive story Chroma stands for.” Locke explains more of his intent: “We set out to make a film that’s as thrilling as it is thought-provoking, exploring what happens when art and technology collide.” She’s not just listening… 🎧 What is she doing? When a struggling singer-songwriter gets the opportunity of a lifetime to work with a tech-obsessed music producer, her art and life are put in peril as she is forced to help create the perfect AI music algorithm. The tech horror-thriller stars Aleyse Shannon, Stefanie Estes, and Colby Groves. It looks like it has some intriguing ideas, but won’t amount to much. Less about AI more about a vicious producer trying to utilize this musician for her benefit.

Decibel follows a struggling singer-songwriter named Scout (Aleyse Shannon) who gets the opportunity of a lifetime to work with a tech-obsessed music producer. Her art and life are put in peril as she is forced to help create the perfect AI music algorithm. Beyond its sci-fi storytelling, Decibel also boasts a strong and distinctive soundtrack. The film features original songs by Caitlin Scholl and music production by Groves. Shannon performs her own vocals, all of which were recorded live on set, lending rare authenticity & emotional weight to the film. This authentic use of music and sound earned Decibel the Best Sound Award at FilmQuest. Decibel is directed by producer / filmmaker Zac Locke, director of the film Santa Isn’t Real previously, plus a few short films, and a producer on many other films. The screenplay is written by Stephen Christensen and Matt Wise. It’s produced by Jordan Michaud-Scorza, Matt Wise, Stephen Christensen, Zac Locke. This initially premiered at the 2024 Abertoir Horror Film Festival in Wales last year. Chroma debuts Locke’s Decibel thriller direct-to-VOD starting on November 7th, 2025 this fall. “Strangers look up to me like I’m God. Who am I?!” Variance has revealed the new trailer for Baahubali: The Epic, a brand new version of the two-part Baahubali epic series of movies. This is pretty much India’s Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair (also finally getting released this year). Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, who later went on to make the world-shattering RRR, directed these original two action movies Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017). Now he’s re-edited & remastered both of them into one single movie, combining footage from both with technical enhancements and previously unseen scenes. When a lost prince is rescued and raised in exile, he grows up unaware of his past. Years later, he returns to uncover the truth about his father’s murder & his mother’s imprisonment, and will rise to reclaim his place as the rightful king. Baahubali: The Epic stars Prabhas in dual roles, with Rana Daggubati, Anushka, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, and Nassar. I actually went to see this in theaters back in 2015 and it’s proper awesome. I bet even players better now as this final version. Give it a shot and experience a real epic like no other on the BIGGEST screens around – including IMAX worldwide.

“Hope is the strongest thing we have.” VVS Films has revealed the first official trailer for a survival movie called Not Without Hope, adapted from the book of the same name. This is set for release in theaters this December. Directed by Joe Carnahan, it’s one of two upcoming movies he has coming out back-to-back – he also has The RIP scheduled for January. Not Without Hope tells the true story of four friends stuck in the Gulf of Mexico when their fishing boat capsizes during a storm. The book description sums it up nicely: “an inspiring and unforgettable story of courage and strength, friendship and loss, and, most importantly, hope, in the vein of Touching the Void, Into Thin Air, Between a Rock and a Hard Place, and Piers Paul Read’s classic survival tale, Alive.” This intense open water survival thriller stars Zachary Levi as Nick Schuyler, Quentin Plair as Marquis Cooper, Terrence Terrell as Corey Smith, Marshall Cook as Will Bleakley, with Josh Duhamel as the Coast Guard Captain and JoBeth Williams as Marcia. Of course this reminds me of The Perfect Storm, but it looks nowhere near as good as that movie. This doesn’t look that great at all.

He’s an artist.” Wood Ent. has revealed the official trailer for a filmmaker documentary titled Tim Burton: Life in the Line, which debuts as a 4-part docu series for streaming online. “Celebrate this Halloween by stepping into the life and mind of Tim Burton – with never-before-seen footage, artwork, and personal moments from the world’s most beloved outsider. Uncut and unfiltered – according to Tim and his closest collaborators.” The doc is created by Tara Wood, the same filmmaker behind the other two docs 21 Years: Richard Linklater and QT8: The First Eight. The doc also features appearances by Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Keaton, Danny Elfman, Jenna Ortega, Christoph Waltz, and Mia Wasikowska, plus others. Tracing Burton’s journey from his early days at Disney to his defining works such as Edward Scissorhands, Batman, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Wednesday. And examines how Tim Burton’s unique sensibility redefined gothic storytelling & has helped shape a creative community of artists, actors, and dreamers who continue to influence modern cinema. This looks like a comprehensive journey through his life and work. I want to watch it just to see all of his incredible drawings over the years.

“Any special friend in Mumbai?” “The special friend never lasts.” Strand Releasing has debuted an official US trailer for an indie film titled Cactus Pears, a romantic drama about a lost young man connecting with another man. This first premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, then it went on to play at other fests including New Directors/New Films, San Francisco, Taipei, and Melbourne. Anand, a 30-something city dweller compelled to spend a 10-day mourning period for his father in the countryside of western India, tenderly bonds with a local farmer who is struggling to stay unmarried. When the mourning ends, forcing his return, Anand must decide the fate of his relationship born under duress. Described as “a poignant approach to unspoken sorrow.” The film stars Bhushaan Manoj as Anand, Suraaj Suman, and Jayshri Jagtap. After giving it a prize, the Sundance Jury stated: “This is the great modern love story. To say it’s an honor to award this tender film is an understatement. We cried, we laughed, and we wished to be loved in the same way. It is exactly what the world needs right now.” Another tender slice of cinema in 2025.

Mainly created for kids. Based on the bestselling book series (currently at 19 books!!), The Pout-Pout Fish movie brings to life the hilarious and heartwarming story of an unlikely duo, Mr. Fish (voiced by Nick Offerman) and tiny sea dragon Pip (voiced by Nina Oyama), who embark on an epic undersea quest to find a legendary fish that could save their homes. With a star-studded voice cast including Offerman & Oyama, with Miranda Otto, Remy Hii, Jordin Sparks, and Amy Sedaris. This feel-good animated adventure will make a splash with audiences of all ages. Co-directed by Ricard Cussó and Rio Harrington, The Pout-Pout Fish movie celebrates the power of friendship, courage, and spreading happiness – no matter how deep the ocean goes. This opens first in Australia on New Years Day (as seen on the poster below), but will take a few more months before it plays in the US (timed with Spring Break for schoolkids). Doesn’t look so bad! Kino Lorber debuted the official US trailer for a Slovenian indie drama titled Little Trouble Girls, which is getting a small release in limited theaters later this year. Hailing from the Eastern European country of Slovenia, Little Trouble Girls is made by Urška Djukić and it played at the Berlin, Tribeca, Sydney, Karlovy Vary, Melbourne, and Edinburgh Film Festivals this year. 16-year-old Lucia joins Catholic school choir, befriends senior Ana-Maria. During choir retreat at convent, Lucia’s attraction to a restoration worker creates tension with Ana-Maria and challenges her faith. This stunning coming-of-age feature debut by this Slovenian filmmaker won Best Cinematography at Tribeca. Starring Jara Sofija Ostan, Mina Svajger, and Sasa Tabakovió. Early reviews state the film “echoes the sensitivities of Céline Sciamma’s early coming-of-age stories but with a bold, cinematic bent.” Worth adding to the watchlist if you’re into discovering new filmmaking from around the world. “This has been shambles after shambles.” Vertigo Releasing in the UK has debuted the full official trailer for a film titled Saipan, ready for release in January in the UK. This Irish film made by filmmakers Lisa Barros D’Sa & Glenn Leyburn tells a very Irish story about an epic sports rivalry back in 2002. Not everyone will be so familiar this story over the in US, but the film still looks like a worthwhile watch anyway. On the eve of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the Irish soccer/football team captain Roy Keane forfeits his place in the squad at the team’s base in Saipan, after a heated disagreement with the Irish manager Mick McCarthy. This is the thrilling story of their infamous confrontation and what happened next. The upcoming movie stars Éanna Hardwicke as Roy and Steve Coogan as Mick, with Alice Lowe, Jamie Beamish, Alex Murphy, and Harriet Cains. This looks damn good! Reminds me of Next Goal Wins, but much more serious and with way more creativity & ingenuity in the filmmaking. Some very cool shots in here. A little rivalry representing so many other issues. Yep I really want to watch this even though I don’t know much about this rivalry at all.

This one tells a very “intimate and uplifting” story about the Hemsworth family. Chris discovers that his father Craig is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s as he is getting older. So Chris decides to embark on an intimate motorcycle journey across Australia with his father to rekindle memories & strengthen their bond, exploring the effective science of connection, community, and nostalgia — crucial but often overlooked tools in protecting brain health.
