“There’s only one Eddie Murphy. The laughter, the legacy, the life.” Netflix has revealed the main official trailer for another new celebrity biopic documentary – this one titled Being Eddie – a comprehensive look at Eddie Murphy’s life and career. After a few years out of the spotlight, Murphy has come back recently in the last few years, starring in a bunch of movies and series and coming back for Shrek 5 sometime soon. The documentary (out on Nov. 12) gathers comedy and Hollywood legends like Dave Chappelle, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jamie Foxx, Jerry Seinfeld, Reginald Hudlin and more to celebrate the Oscar-nominated actor and his nearly 50-year career that’s seen him break barriers, invent genres, and inspire generations of talent. For the first time ever, Eddie Murphy also invites the public into his home to revisit his breathtaking body of work, all the while revealing the dazzling interior life that has long driven — and grounded — this once-in-a-century star. With appearances by Arsenio Hall, Brian Grazer, Chris Rock, Jerry Bruckheimer, John Landis, Kenan Thompson, Kevin Hart, Michael Che, Pete Davidson, Ruth Carter, & many more. Take a look below.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Angus Wall’s documentary film Being Eddie, direct from YouTube:

Being Eddie Doc Trailer

Being Eddie Doc Poster

It goes without saying that there is only one Eddie Murphy. No other teen comedian shared a stage with Jerry Seinfeld at 17, and joined the cast of Saturday Night Live right out of high school. No actor has ever played a cop, a doctor, and a donkey — and dominated every facet of Hollywood he’s touched. Fewer still have been an A-list celebrity for over four decades and counting, and never succumbed to its darker side. Eddie’s unusual combination of explosive charisma, focused ambition, raw talent, deep-set circumspection puts him in a league of his own, and is on full display in Being Eddie. This documentary film is directed by two-time Oscar winner producer / editor filmmaker Angus Wall, making his feature directorial debut after a few other shorts previously. He won Oscars for Best Film Editing on Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo & The Social Network before getting into producing & directing. Produced by John Davis, John Fox, Charisse Hewitt-Webster, Terry Leonard, and Kent Kubena. Netflix will debut this new doc Being Eddie streaming on Netflix worldwide starting on November 12th, 2025 this fall. So who wants to watch this?

“Many of your kind have come here. None have survived…” 20th Century has unveiled one additional final international trailer for Predator: Badlands directed by Dan Trachtenberg. We already posted the final official US trailer a few weeks ago but this is the version they made to play outside of the US. After three full trailers before this, and a behind-the-scenes promo, there’s a few more new shots in here hinting at where this is going. Badlands is also officially rated PG-13, but it should still kick ass anyway. The director of Prey welcomes you to a whole world of hurt. Set on a remote planet, a young Yautja outcast from his clan finds an unlikely ally on his journey in search of the ultimate adversary. Co-starring Elle Fanning as an android + Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as the young predator who must confront an apex predator. This is still looking like it will blow us all away this fall. Another awesome movie incoming this year! At this point, I’ve seen more than enough footage – I’m ready to catch this in theaters & have a blast. Bring on the action.

Here’s an extra international trailer (+ poster) for Dan Trachtenberg’s Predator: Badlands, via YouTube:

The sci-fi action movie Predator: Badlands is set in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator (starring Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally with Thia (Elle Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary. Predator: Badlands is directed by acclaimed American filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg, director of the films 10 Cloverfield Lane and Prey previously, the upcoming Predator: Killer of Killers animated movie, episodes of “Black Mirror” and “The Boys”, plus many other shorts. The screenplay is written by Dan Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison. Based on characters created by Jim Thomas & John Thomas. Produced by John Davis, Dan Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, Brent O’Connor. 20th Century releases Trachtenberg’s Predator: Badlands movie in theaters (huzzah!!) nationwide starting on November 7th, 2025 coming up. “You all have the power to do anything.” Film Forum has unveiled the official US trailer for an acclaimed documentary film titled Cutting Through Rocks, made by the filmmakers Mohammadreza Eyni & Sara Khaki. This premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (listed as one of my favorite films at the fest) and it played at tons of other fests including Hot Docs, Visions du Réel, Edinburgh, Woodstock, Vancouver, and many others. As the first elected councilwoman of her Iranian village up in the north, Sara Shahverdi aims to break long-held patriarchal traditions by training teenage girls to ride motorcycles and stopping child marriages. When accusations arise questioning Sara’s intentions to empower all the girls, her identity is put in turmoil. But she fights back. A real, genuine badass and feminist hero – fighting for women and doing everything she can in her village. I’m a big fan of this film – I wrote in my recap: “An empowering, inspiring story of perseverance & progress no matter the circumstances or the oppression.” Worth a watch.

Official US trailer for Mohammadreza Eyni & Sara Khaki’s doc Cutting Through Rocks, from YouTube:

Cutting Through Rocks Poster

Patriarchy still reigns in the northwestern Iranian village where 37-year-old Sara Shahverdi—divorced, childless, and an avid motorcyclist—became the first woman elected to city council. Wife and husband team Khaki and Eyni followed Shahverdi’s journey over eight years, tracking her inspiring, upstream efforts to subvert economic systems and transform local attitudes (of men and women alike) that destine girls to matrimony and dependence. A midwife and one of nine children, Sara is both deeply connected to the everyday lives of her fellow villagers and a radical lone voice advocating—at great personal cost—for education over marriage, home co-ownership, and girls on bikes. Cutting Through Rocks is a doc film co-directed and co-produced by the filmmakers Mohammadreza Eyni (of The Friend’s House, Convergence: Courage in a Crisis) & Sara Khaki (also of Convergence: Courage in a Crisis). This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (read our review). Film Forum will debut Eyni & Khaki’s Cutting Through Rocks in select US theaters starting November 21st, 2025. Highly recommend this doc.

“When it hurts, I come here and scream it out loud.” 🇧🇷 Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a Brazilian film titled The Son of a Thousand Men, based on highly acclaimed Brazilian novel. Ready for streaming in November this fall. A father without a son, a son without a father, and a shared dream. A village of one-of-a-kind encounters that turn into unlikely stories… Starring Rodrigo Santoro and inspired by the best-selling book by Valter Hugo Mãe, this Netflix film The Son of a Thousand Men, made by Daniel Rezende, shares a fable about solitude, love, and acceptance. Crisóstomo, a 40-year-old fisherman, decides to search for what he lacks: a son. Upon meeting Camilo, a 14-year-old boy, he ends up changing the lives of excluded and rejected characters, forming a non-conventional family united by a love for simple things. In addition to Santoro, it also stars Johnny Massaro, Rebeca Jamir, Juliana Caldas, featuring Miguel Martines as Camilo. It was filmed between Búzios, along the coast of Rio de Janeiro, and Chapada Diamantina, in Bahia. This has some absolutely amazing cinematography by DP Azul Serra. I’m hooked – I will be watching this.

This is the first adaptation of Valter Hugo Mãe’s books. The bestselling work follows Crisóstomo (Rodrigo Santoro), a lone fisherman who dreams of one day having a son. His life changes when he meets Camilo (Miguel Martines), an orphan boy whom he decides to foster. Meanwhile, as she tries to escape her own pain, Isaura (Rebeca Jamir) encounters the two of them in the village, with Antonino (Johnny Massaro), a misunderstood young man. Together, the four of them learn about the meaning of family and the purpose of sharing life with others. The Son of a Thousand Men, also titled O Filho de Mil Homens in Portuguese, is written directed by the Brazilian filmmaker Daniel Rezende, director of the films Bingo: The King of the Mornings, Monica and Friends, and also the series “Nobody’s Looking” and “Turma da Mônica” previously. Written in collaboration with Duda Casoni. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Valter Hugo Mae. Produced by Biônica Filmes and Barry Company. “I just want to write something that helps people.” Lionsgate has revealed the official trailer for a movie called I Can Only Imagine 2, a sequel to the faith-based music movie hit I Can Only Imagine from 2018. Inspired by the life story of musician Bart Millard and his band MercyMe, this sequel continues on the next steps forward following up on the sudden success seen in the first movie. It’s opening in theaters next February. From co-directors Andrew Erwin and Brent McCorkle, starring John Michael Finley back again in the lead role. Bart Millard, lead singer of MercyMe, faces a personal crisis at the peak of his success. As his world unravels, he struggles with his beliefs & inner demons while seeking a path through adversity. Based on the heartfelt true story behind the hit single “Even If” (listen to it here), I Can Only Imagine 2 is the inspiring next chapter of faith, family, and finding God in the fire. This sequel stars John Michael Finley, Milo Ventimiglia, Sophie Skelton, Arielle Kebbel, Sammy Dell, with Trace Adkins and Dennis Quaid. This definitely is not my jam at all, but I’m sure there are many fans out there who can’t wait for it.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Erwin & McCorkle’s sequel I Can Only Imagine 2, from YouTube:

“Returning to the world of Imagine has been a deeply personal and profoundly moving journey—for me and for so many who helped bring this uplifting story to life. Its themes of finding gratitude in our grief and discovering beauty that rises from ashes feel more relevant now than ever. Watching this chapter of Bart and Tim’s story unfold for the big screen has been an honor. I ca’’t wait for audiences everywhere to experience it this February.” –Co-director Brent McCorkle

I Can Only Imagine 2 Poster

I Can Only Imagine 2 Poster

After the breakout success of the song “I Can Only Imagine,” MercyMe’s Bart Millard (featuring John Michael Finley returning again) is living the dream—sold-out arenas, a devoted fan base, and a thriving career. But behind the spotlight, Bart’s past threatens the family he’s built, especially the fragile bond with his son, Sam (Sammy Dell). When hopeful newcomer Tim Timmons (Milo Ventimiglia) joins the band for their biggest tour yet, he unknowingly brings a renewed gratitude to Bart’s life through their unlikely friendship. Bart soon discovers that Tim carries hardships—and secrets—of his own, forcing him to face his past and repair his relationships with Sam and his wife, Shannon (Sophie Skelton), before fame costs him what matters most. I Can Only Imagine 2 is co-directed by faith-based filmmakers Andrew Erwin (of October Baby, Woodlawn, I Can Only Imagine, I Still Believe, American Underdog, The Jesus Music) & Brent McCorkle (of Unconditional, Jesus Revolution). The screenplay is by Brent McCorkle. Produced by Kevin Downes, Andrew Erwin, Cindy Bond, Bart Millard, Daryl Lefever, Joshua Walsh. Lionsgate will debut I Can Only Imagine 2 in theaters nationwide starting February 20th, 2026 early next year. Looks good?

“Selena was bigger than what she thought she was.” Netflix has revealed the trailer for a documentary film titled Selena y Los Dinos, made by filmmaker Isabel Castro as her second feature after Mija. This doc first premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and played at SXSW, Hot Docs, AFI Fest, and will be out to watch in November. Selena y Los Dinos celebrates the life and legacy of the Queen of Tejano, Selena Quintanilla, who along with her family performed, triumphed, and redefined genres, captured in never-before-seen footage from the family’s personal archive. It’s also the tragic true story of what happened to her – she was shot and killed at the age of 23 by her friend and the former manager of her Selena Etc. boutiques. Her story has been told before: in 1997, Warner Bros made Selena starring a then-unknown Jennifer Lopez; and in 2020, Netflix released Selena: The Series starring Christian Serratos. This doc celebrates her life and successes above all. “Whether a lifelong fan or just discovering Selena, Castro offers an intimate new lens to experience Selena’s legacy and a reason to want to belt out ‘Como la Flor.'” Definitely looks like a good one.

Here’s the official trailer for Isabel Castro’s doc Selena y Los Dinos, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:

Selena y Los Dinos Trailer

Selena y Los Dinos Trailer

Selena Quintanilla — best known as the “Queen of Tejano Music” — and her family band, Selena y Los Dinos, rose from performing at quinceañeras to selling out stadium tours. The celebration of her life and legacy is chronicled through never-before-seen footage found in the family’s personal archive. A heartfelt tribute to Selena Quintanilla that deftly captures the singer’s exuberance, humility, and the profound bond she shared with her family. Interviews with those close to her reveal the heart and sacrifice behind her rise to fame, while nostalgic home videos transport us back to the 1990s, offering never-before-seen glimpses into their lives on tour. The warmth of the home videos is like sitting with the Quintanillas and reliving their journey firsthand. Selena y Los Dinos is a documentary film directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Isabel Castro, director of Mija previously, and a few short films and other projects. Produced by Simran Singh, Julie Goldman, Christopher Clements, J. Daniel Torres, David Blackman. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Netflix will debut Isabel Castro’s Selena y Los Dinos doc film streaming on Netflix worldwide starting November 17th, 2025 coming soon. Anyone want to watch?

“We’ve all been wrong about her…” Universal Pictures has revealed the first official trailer for a movie called Reminders of Him, an adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover. Another romantic drama with heavy emotions – brought to the big screen by an all-female filmmaking team. Set for release in theaters nationwide starting March 2026 early next year. “There was before you and there was during you. For some reason, I never thought there would be an after you.” After returning home from prison for a tragic accident in the past, Kenna attempts to reconnect with her young daughter but faces resistance from everyone except a bar owner with ties to her child. As the two begin to grow closer, Kenna must confront her past mistakes to build a better future – and hopefully not end up in heartbreak again. Starring Maika Monroe as Kenna, Tyriq Withers (from Him) as Ledger, Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford, Rudy Pankow, Lainey Wilson, Jennifer Robertson, & Zoe Kosovic as Kenna’s daughter Diem. This actually looks pretty good – much better than these cheesy romances usually do. Worth a watch.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Vanessa Caswill’s movie Reminders of Him, direct from YouTube:

Reminders of Him Trailer

Reminders of Him Poster

“You can’t rewrite the past, but you can start again…” The literary phenomenon from bestselling author Colleen Hoover becomes a transformative film about motherhood, forgiveness and the power of love to overcome even the worst mistake. After a perfect outing with her boyfriend, Kenna (Maika Monroe) makes an unbearable mistake that sends her to prison. Seven years later, Kenna returns to her hometown in Wyoming, hoping to rebuild her life and earn the chance to reunite with her young daughter, Diem, whom she has never known. When Diem’s custodial grandparents adamantly refuse Kenna’s attempts to see her daughter, Kenna discovers unexpected compassion, and then something truer & deeper, with former NFL player & local bar owner Ledger (Tyriq Withers). As their secret romance develops, so do the dangers for both of them – leading Kenna closer toward heartbreak and, ultimately, the hope for a second chance…

Reminders of Him is directed by filmmaker Vanessa Caswill, of the film Love at First Sight previously, plus episodes of the series “Thirteen”, “Little Women”, “Gold Digger”, and many short films. The screenplay is written by Colleen Hoover and Lauren Levine, adapted from Hoover’s novel of the same name published in 2022. Produced by Lauren Levine, Gina Matthews, Colleen Hoover. Universal debuts Caswill’s Reminders of Him movie in theaters nationwide starting March 13th, 2025 early next year. How does it look so far?

“He believed it was okay for a coach to love his players.” In doing so, he changed leadership in professional sports and left a legacy that continues to resonate with NFL generations even today. Blue Harbor Ent. has revealed an official trailer for the documentary film titled Luv Ya Bum!, which is actually a sports history film about Texas football in the 1970s. With narration from actor Dennis Quaid. In the ’70s, the struggling Houston Oilers turned to Bum Phillips, an unconventional cowboy-hat-wearing coach who built a family-first team of misfits and stars such as Earl Campbell. Together they ignited the “Luv Ya Blue!” phenomenon, challenged the Steelers dynasty, and captured a city’s heart. Featuring rare, archival footage and impactful interviews with football legends, including Earl Campbell, Dan Pastorini, Peyton Manning, Sean McVay, Terry Bradshaw, Jerry Jones, J.J. “It may look dull… but it still does the job.” Well Go USA has debuted another new trailer for the film The Old Woman with the Knife, a Korean assassin dark thriller from filmmaker Min Kyu-dong. We already posted the first trailer months ago and it opened in select US theaters back in May – this new trailer is for the VOD release (on November 25th). An aging female assassin with a knack for taking out society’s worst encounters a young protégé eager to learn the trade – who has his own secrets. As they form a surprising & unexpected bond, the veteran killer discovers fresh purpose in her twilight years of violence and routine. Actress Lee Hye-yeong plays Hornclaw – a legendary assassin now in her 60s who specializes in “disease control,” or getting rid of “human vermin,” for over 40 years. Perhaps because she is getting older, she feels a strange compassion for the doctor who treated her. Also starring Kim Sung-cheol and Kim Mu-yeol. Another underrated, underseen action thriller that I recommend watching – it’s slick, stylish & entertaining. Most of all, Hornclaw is such a badass. Watch it just for her! Catch this film at home starting in November.

Here’s the second US trailer for Min Kyu-dong’s film The Old Woman with the Knife, from YouTube:

You can rewatch the first official trailer for The Old Woman with the Knife right here for more footage.

Aging assassin “Hornclaw” (starring Lee Hye-yeong) has seen it all, but she never expected to mentor a reckless rookie like Bullfight. As their unlikely bond deepens, cracks form in the underworld they navigate together. When Hornclaw discovers someone wants her dead, she’s thrust into a deadly game of deception. With enemies closing in and trust in short supply, survival means staying sharp—both blade and mind. The Old Woman with the Knife, also known as 파과 or Pagwa in Korean, is directed by acclaimed Korean filmmaker Min Kyu-dong, director of the movies All for Love, Antique, The Chase, The Last Blossom, All About My Wife, The Treacherous, Herstory, and The Prayer previously. The screenplay is written by Kim Dong-wan-II and Min Kyu-dong. Produced by Min Jin-soo. This initially premiered at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, and it also opens in Korea this week. Well Go USA will debut The Old Woman with the Knife in select US theaters starting May 16th, 2025 coming soon. For more info, visit their official site.

“Any last minute advice?” 20th Century has revealed a second trailer for Ella McCay, a new half political / half family comedy arriving to watch in theaters in December later this year. This is the first film directed by James L. Brooks since he made How Do You Know way back in 2010 (which we covered for its release!). As long as he can still make us laugh. In Ella McCay, Emma Mackey stars as an idealistic young woman who juggles her family and work life. A comedy about the people you love and how to survive them. She’s taking over the job of her mentor, the state’s longtime incumbent governor, and now starting a whole new life (in politics). The full ensemble cast features Emma Mackey as the titular Ella McCay, along with Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Lowden, Kumail Nanjiani, Ayo Edebiri, Spike Fearn, Rebecca Hall, Julie Kavner, Joey Brooks, Becky Ann Baker, with Albert Brooks and Woody Harrelson. This is a better trailer than the first one, but still not sure this is going to be a big surprise this year. It looks light and charming and funny – which is more than most movies and enough to make me want to watch it anyway. Check it out.

Here’s the second official trailer (+ new poster) for James L. Brooks’ comedy Ella McCay, from YouTube:

You can rewatch the first official trailer for James L Brooks’ Ella McCay movie right here for more footage.

An idealistic young politician (starring Emma Mackey) juggles familial issues and a challenging work life while preparing to take over the job of her mentor, the state’s longtime incumbent governor. Ella McCay is both written and directed by iconic American comedian / producer / writer / filmmaker James L. Brooks, director of the hit movies Terms of Endearment, Broadcast News, I’ll Do Anything, As Good as It Gets, Spanglish, and How Do You Know, and a writer on many others (including “The Simpsons”). Produced by James L. Brooks, Richard Sakai, Julie Ansell, Jennifer Simchowitz. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. 20th Century Studios debuts James L. Brooks’ Ella McCay movie in theaters nationwide starting December 12th, 2025 right at the end of this year. So who wants to watch this film?
