Live’s Best Moments from the Summer Unity Tour

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Live and Collective Soul both made massive hits in the 1990s, but it’s in the 21st century that the two veteran alternative bands have become a successful package deal on the road, first co-headlining a tour in 2008 and then reuniting this year for the Summer Unity Tour. The two bands played 30 dates from coast to coast throughout July and August, with openers Our Lady Peace and Greylin James Rue.

The tour wrapped up a few weeks ago with a date in Grantville, Pennsylvania, just an hour from York, where Ed Kowalczyk became Live’s lead singer over 40 years ago. Before Live heads back out to play shows in Michigan and Ohio this month, SPIN reached Kowalczyk via email to find out about some of his favorite memories from spending the summer of 2025 on the road. “There were so many highlights and nights to remember on our tour with Collective Soul,” Kowalczyk says. “I felt so energized and inspired the whole time; morning, noon and night for eight weeks straight. The rapport and the vibes backstage were so chill between the crew and bands.”

1. Biking and flying a drone in Nashville

Kowalczyk was impressed by the site of Live and Collective Soul’s Nashville show on August 10th, the FirstBank Amphitheater, which reminded him of Colorado’s most famous music venue. “The venue in Tennessee was dug out of a quarry; it has a super surreal Red Rocks vibe at night,” he says. “I flew my drone around there and got some incredible footage. It was a great summer and we got very lucky with the weather which meant we could all be outside at the venues riding electric bikes and taking it all in.”

2. The fans who brought the whole family

“I have to say, the best part of the whole experience for me was seeing the new generation of young fans every night,” says Kowalczyk, who left Live in 2009 and rejoined the band in 2014, finding that many of the band’s original fans now have kids that they bring to the shows. “I met so many people who introduced me to their kids and said, ‘This is so-and-so’s first concert, and it had to be Live.’ It was such an emotional jubilee every night, its hard to put into words.”

3. The grub in Missouri

One of the things about touring life that many musicians relish is the chance to sample cuisine around the country, and Kowalczyk fondly remembers the food and the wine in St. Louis the week that the band played the Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in nearby Ridgedale, Missouri. “My favorite dining experience was at the Capital Grille in St. Louis on a day off. It was directly across the street from the hotel, so I popped over by myself and settled in,” he says. “My first course was a huge plate of Utz style potato chips with a bowl of gourmet chip dip and a blob of caviar on top; I inhaled it and washed it, and 3 dozen oysters, down with an entire bottle of Whispering Angel Rose…I walked out at 4pm.  Best meal and most rock-starrish day drinking day I had on the tour; unforgettable.”

4. Embracing the Texas roots of Live’s current lineup

Kowalczyk is the only remaining member of Live’s original Pennsylvania-based lineup, and all of his bandmates are now Texans: keyboardist Nick Jay, guitarist Zak Loy, bassist Chris Heerlein, and drummer Johnny Radelat. That made the tour’s string of August dates in Irving, Houston, and Austin into a special occasion for Live.  “All of the Texas shows were bananas and it felt like the band really reconnected deeply there,” Kowalczyk says.

Live will continue performing across North America well into 2026, including a tour of Canada with Big Wreck that begins in February. Links to tickets for all shows can be found at https://livetheband.com

Dave has added more dates in London and Manchester to his 2026 tour. Check out the details below.

Earlier this month the Brixton-born, Streatham-raised rapper shared details of a new tour kicking off in 2026. The run of arena dates come in celebration of his new album, ‘The Boy Who Played The Harp’, and are set to kick off in Munich on February 2.

Now, due to huge demand, he had added more UK shows to the itinerary. These include extra dates at The O2 in London on March 10 and 11, and another show at the Co-op Live in Manchester on March 17.

These add onto the two previously announced shows at the London arena taking place on March 6 and 7, and to the already confirmed Manchester date on March 16.

Tickets for all dates, including newly shared shows, go on general sale at 9am local time on Thursday (October 23). Visit here to buy tickets and find an updated list of shows below.

Dave’s 2026 tour dates are:

Dave announced details of his new album earlier this month (October 1), with the record set to arrive this Friday (October 24). You can pre-order it here.

It follows on from his back-to-back Number One albums, ‘Psychodrama’, which was released in 2019, and ‘We’re All Alone In This Together’, which came out in 2021.

The latter featured James Blake and Stormzy, and was given five stars in a review from NME.

“As illustrated throughout the stunning ‘Psychodrama’, Dave has always been the one to rap traditionally, using hip-hop for what it was intended to do: give a voice to the voiceless,” it read. “He has always been able to show the inner-workings of many young Londoners in a clean and universal way that can perhaps help the whole world to better understand the Black British experience, especially that of Black men.

“Always ready to tell the hard truths for those who can’t, Dave has proved again that he’s a voice of a generation, sitting pretty atop his peers when it comes to making unforgettable London rap classics.”

That record debuted at the top spot in the charts with over 74,000 chart sales – making it the highest opening week of 2021, and the chart’s biggest opening week since November 2019.

Watch Waxahatchee join Rilo Kiley for ‘With Arms Outstretched’ at final reunion tour show

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Rilo Kiley brought out Waxahatchee to round out their reunion tour with a version of ‘With Arms Outstretched’ – check it out below.

Jenny Lewis and co. have been playing the ‘Sometimes When You’re On, You’re Really Fucking On Tour’ in the US this year, their first extended run of shows since 2008, although they did play a one-off gig for a livestream benefit in 2021.

The final date in the run came on Saturday night (October 18) at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre, and Waxahatchee – aka Katie Crutchfield – served as the opening act, having been a self-confessed superfan of the group.

Together, they sang ‘With Arms Outstretched’, a fan favourite track from Rilo Kiley’s second album ‘The Execution Of All Things’, released in 2002. Watch footage of the collaboration here:

Rilo Kiley played:

‘The Execution Of All Things’
‘Spectacular Views’
‘Paint’s Peeling’
‘The Moneymaker’
‘Dreamworld’
‘I Never’
‘Glendora’
‘Close Call’
‘It’s A Hit’
‘Does He Love You?’
‘Ripchord’
‘The Good That Won’t Come Out’
‘Silver Lining’
‘With Arms Outstretched’ (with Waxahatchee)
‘A Better Son/Daughter’
‘Portions For Foxes’
‘Let Me Back In’
‘Breakin’ Up’
‘Pictures Of Success’

Jenny Lewis told NME in 2019 that she was open to getting the band back together, and then in 2023, the singer spoke to NME again about the prospect of a Rilo Kiley reunion, dismissing immediate hopes by saying: “I’ve got a lot on my plate […] We’re not talking about it, but it’s not off the table.”

Although live shows have been few and far between since 2011, Rilo Kiley did reissue their 1999 self-titled debut album in 2020 and made it available on streaming services for the first time.

As for Waxahatchee, her sixth studio album ‘Tigers Blood’ was released last year, which NME awarded the full five stars. “These songs offer a more adult and grounded perspective than ones like ‘Lone Star Lake’ and ‘Evil Spawn’; they’re about the person who feels like home rather than the one who gets your blood pumping,” the review read. “It’s a nice counterweight that feels emblematic of ‘Tigers Blood’ — it’s a burning fire, and it’s a warm summer evening at once.”

It was later named as one of NME’s 50 best albums of 2024.

Bryson Tiller Gifts Chris Brown a Lamborghini to Celebrate Stadium Tour Success

Bryson Tiller just gifted Chris Brown a brand-new Lamborghini — and he made sure to remind fans that it wasn’t just from him.

Tiller shared a video of the sleek black Lambo with the caption:

“Thank you Chris Brown. Know you didn’t need another Lambo but I’ll forever be thankful for you bringing me on your first ever Stadium Tour! Breezy Bowl Complete ”

He went on to thank Team Breezy for making the moment possible, adding:

“I just wanna reiterate to TEAM BREEZY that this gift wouldn’t be possible without y’all! So it’s not just from me, it’s from us .”

The gift marks the end of Chris Brown’s sold-out Breezy Bowl Stadium Tour, which featured Tiller as one of the special guests. The two artists have collaborated and supported each other for years, and this gesture was Tiller’s way of showing gratitude for being part of one of Brown’s biggest career moments

Geese Bring Getting Killed Tour to Chicago: Review + Photos

by jummy84 October 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Hype is a funny thing. When an artist (or any creative project) encounters a sudden rush of excitement, they can just as easily surf the wave of newfound attention with grace as they can succumb to the riptide of rising expectations, washing up on the shores of disappointment. Luckily, on a scale of midwestern tourist visiting the West Coast for the first time to Big Kahuna, Geese are much closer to the latter, as proven by the launch of their triumphant “Getting Killed Tour.”

Celebrating the release of their acclaimed third album, Getting Killed, the buzzy New York indie rockers have embarked on a sold-out jaunt, hitting various theaters and halls across the country. Last night, Cameron Winter and company wrapped up a two-show stint at Chicago’s Thalia Hall with rising art-rock act Racing Mount Pleasant. To put it crudely, it fuckin’ rocked.

Get Geese Tickets Here

Which, to check Geese’s ego just a bit, had just as much to do with the crowd’s energy as it did with the band’s impressive rock ‘n’ roll display. After Racing Mount Pleasant’s opening set, the pit, the bar, and the lines for the bathrooms were all alive with the same electrifying anticipation. “I think this night might be something really special,” I heard one attendee tell another before they joyously high-fived. Thanks to their well-crafted mystique and the excellent collection of songs that is Getting Killed, Geese had already won half of the battle before ever stepping onto the stage.

Related Video

Once they were on stage, the crew managed to match the audience’s energy. Almost exclusively backlit via lights resting on the floor, Geese ripped through every single song of Getting Killed (albeit not in order), a handful of favorites from their sophomore effort 3D Country, and even a lone deep cut from their debut Projector. Regardless of which project the cuts came from, there wasn’t a tune they launched into that wasn’t met with rapturous cheers.

That response was warranted — these kids can play. Not to say that there wasn’t the odd flubbed note or rushed section, but Geese have successfully incorporated looseness into their charm. It’s a main reason why Getting Killed is such an exciting listen, and it has been a large part of their live show for the past few years. The quartet (plus the one touring member) are all highly proficient musicians — particularly drummer Max Bassin, who was going absolutely nuts on the kit for the entire 90-minute set. They just also happen to prioritize atmosphere and fun over perfection in performance. That decision works wonders for them, especially as a band so clearly inspired by the raucous energy of classic rock and eccentric, charged indie.

Whether they were bringing the house down with rippers like “2112” and “Trinidad” or serenading us with melancholic heartbreakers like “Au Pays du Cocaine,” Geese presented themselves simultaneously as a confident band entering their prime and as a group of longtime friends who can’t believe they have made it so far. Bassist Dominic DiGesu grinned as he swapped between laying down melodic bass lines and bongo grooves, while guitarist Emily Green fittingly emulated the stylings of figures like Jonny Greenwood, letting her hair cover her face as she hunched over and delivered her wildly creative guitar parts. Winter, for his part, lived up to his reputation, showcasing his off-kilter sense of humor, signature baritone voice, and delicately devastating skills on the keys.

Erykah Badu’s ‘The Return Of Automatic Slim’ Tour Opening Night Review

Erykah Badu’s ‘The Return Of Automatic Slim’ Tour Opening Night Review

by jummy84 October 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Thirty-six minutes or so after Westside Gunn commanded everybody with a “clean pu**y” scream, Erykah Badu arrived on stage.

A sold-out audience invaded the Hollywood Bowl on the first Friday of the month to bathe in a neo-soul soundscape under the enchanting moonlight. The affair kicked off The Return of Automatic Slim Tour, presented by the Dallas native to commemorate the 25th anniversary of her new-millennium release Mama’s Gun.

Although the show was opened by the Super Fly God himself, some attendees were clearly only seated for the headliner, side-eyeing the hyperbolic lyrics about cooking bricks and live wrestling stunts. Others were intrigued by the rap performance that showcased a consciousness different from the stream of knowledge layered in their favorite Badu tracks.

After about 35 minutes on stage, the Buffalo rapper gained new fans, satisfied the Griselda enthusiasts, and wrapped his set with gratitude for Erykah Badu, who later arrived (possibly a few minutes off-schedule but right on time).

The stage at the outdoor amphitheater went dark, signaling the start of the show. A red light centered on an elevated platform, and through a haze of smoke, the 54-year-old artist took her place. Dressed in a black hat with a red scarf underneath, her look was completed with a leather top and a billowing white skirt that maintained structure around her midsection.

A rim shot echoed, the lights turned blue, with turquoise effects that almost resembled raindrops, and the show officially began. Starting with “Penitentiary Philosophy,” the concert set out to run the entire Mama’s Gun, as the R&B singer intended the audience to listen.

For the next few tracks, she stood proudly, singing into the microphone with her signature, powerful vocals draped in syrupy mystique. A mouth full of gold reflected the spotlight as she smiled to the crowd, locking eyes with fans who sang along in awe.

As she moved into “Cleva,” which features the late Roy Ayers, it was clear that this opening night was a “you had to be there” kind of moment, even if she performed the same set at other tour dates. As the “alright” lyric repeated in the bridge, Badu transformed the Hollywood Bowl into a temporary sanctuary, interpolating Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers’ “Encourage Yourself’ into the soulful track.

Drum patterns that almost sounded tribal backed up Badu’s scatting, as the song moved to the next. “ Shoutout to motherfu**king” MF DOOM!” she declared, with another nod to Alchemist, who was in attendance. An on-stage change of clothes revealed the light brown fabric that peeked through her leather was actually an accentuating dress, accessorized with a red belt.

A free verse, spoken word took fans through a different portal, where she opined on the term “black box.” With everything from sexual references to social commentary, Badu described “this black box is a crack rock” while gently caressing the area below her waist. The moment was the perfect transition to “Booty,” which had been skipped earlier.

Ticketholders experienced live renditions of “Annie Don’t Wear No Panties” and got a taste of a track featuring Westside Gunn, which will likely (well, hopefully) be featured on her upcoming collaborative Abi & Alan album with Alchemist.

The “recovering undercover over lover” returned to the spotlight to finish unloading Mama’s Gun with “In Love With You” and “Orange Moon.” During “Bag Lady,” she gave a special moment to her “son” Durand Bernarr, her longtime backup singer and Grammy-nominated solo artist.

Badu then felt the spirit move her to an audience member named Vanessa, who was wearing a “beautiful” purple attire. Announcing that she had a special message for the selected guest, she broke out into “Ain’t No Fun (If The Homies Can’t Have None)” by Snoop Dogg,  Nate Dogg, Warren G, and Kurupt, as the West Coast audience laughed and joined right in.

“Green Eyes” closed the concert, just as it closed the album, and while she did not deliver the entire 10-minute track, the standing ovation proved she brought everything the audience needed. As the stagehands began to transport instruments and equipment inside, thousands headed to their next destination, enlightened, empowered, and most importantly, entertained.

Erykah Badu’s The Return of Automatic Slim opening night was the perfect reminder of not only her career longevity, musical gifts, and charismatic charm, but also the importance of prioritizing performance as art. The five-time Grammy winner intentionally used the stage to build her own universe, where listeners could find a home planet, whether they lean towards her lush, romantic poetry or the third-eye reflections in her lyrical candor.

It might be another 20 years before she takes on another anniversary tour. If that’s the case, catch her while you can.

Jackson Wang Confirms His Return to India for His World Tour in 2026

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Jackson Wang fans, assemble! It won’t be long before we see him once again in India. The global pop star has confirmed that he will return to India in 2026 as part of his much-awaited World Tour. This announcement comes months after Wang’s Mumbai visit.
During his previous trip, the singer not only explored the city but also soaked in its culture, from trying local street food to playing cricket with kids. One of the highlights of his visit was an exclusive soirée in Worli, where he was joined by Ankita Anthony and Vinay MR Mishra as co-hosts. The star-studded guest list included Hanumankind, Natasa Stankovic, Aastha Gill, Ash King, and more all of whom added to the night’s high-energy, Gatsby-like vibe.

“I had an amazing time in India, it was incredible meeting so many talented people and soaking in the country’s energy. Mumbai, in particular, surprised me with how vibrant and fun it was. I did it all from trying street food to playing cricket with local kids, and of course, partying!” Jackson said.

He continued, “On my last leg of the trip, I went to Milagro in Worli and honestly didn’t expect Mumbai to have a bar of such international standards. The place had this stunning Gatsby-like vibe, amazing cocktails, and I had such great company. Vinay and Ankita made sure it was one of those nights I’ll never forget. Now I’m looking forward to visiting the country again in 2026 for my World Tour and happy Diwali to everyone.”

Another memorable evening saw Jackson partying with Hrithik Roshan and his family, alongside Tiger Shroff, Karan Johar, Sonu Nigam, Adnan Sami, Pritam and Salim Merchant.

Candace Owens Loses Bid To Enter Australia For Speaking Tour After High Court Upholds Government’s Visa Denial Over Extremist & Inflammatory Comments’

Australia has given #CandaceOwens a big fat “No, thank you.”

The controversial far-right commentator has lost her legal battle to enter #Australia after the nation’s highest court upheld a government decision to deny her a visa. Her application was previously rejected in October 2024 by the Home Affairs Minister over concerns that Candace’s presence could “incite discord in the Australian community.” They argued that Candace had made “extremist and inflammatory comments towards Muslim, Black, Jewish and #LGBTQIA+ communities,” which could generate controversy and hatred.

Candace’s legal team fought back, appealing to the High Court. However, the court’s unanimous decision backing the ban means Candace will not be able to proceed with her planned speaking tour across Australia and #NewZealand. In addition to the visa denial, she’ll also have to pay the government’s legal costs.
