Bill Maher Voices Support For Jimmy Kimmel, Takes Shots At ABC

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

This week, Bill Maher walked out in front of his live audience to a standing ovation, as the Real Time with Bill Maher host addressed ABC‘s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, comparing it to his own cancellation over two decades ago by the same network.

“I know why you’re happy tonight: I’m still on,” the late-night host said before beginning his monologue.

Maher continued, “Talk show hosts are going down like Blockbusters in the ’90s … Let me just tell you something, I am not intimidated by the FCC, and if President Trump is watching, I have one thing to say to you: Have you lost weight? You look terrific,” to audience cheers and laughs.

“No, that’s not me, and never will be,” Maher added, “but life is f—ing weird. It was 24 years to the day that I made comments on ABC that got me canceled from that network, and Jimmy Kimmel took my slot at Politically Incorrect. I got canceled before cancel even had a culture.” (In the aftermath of 9/11, Maher disagreed with the suggestion that the perpetrators were “cowards,” arguing instead that the U.S. was cowardly for “lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away.” The comments caused an uproar, leading to major sponsors pulling their ads and local affiliates yanking the program. Afterward, as Maher mentioned, Kimmel was brought in to fill ABC’s late-night role.)

Maher’s support for his colleague comes after multiple late-night hosts — from David Letterman to Seth Meyers to Jay Leno — decried ABC’s preemption of Jimmy Kimmel Live! as an infringement on free speech following host Jimmy Kimmel’s joke about Donald Trump‘s seeming lack of grief over the killing of ultra right-wing spokesman Charlie Kirk: “We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it,” he had said, in part.

ABC’s indefinite suspension of the program came after FCC chair Brendan Carr threatened action over the joke — which poked fun at Trump being in the “construction” stage of grief for his segueing from a reporter’s question about how he is “holding up” into the remodeling being done on the White House ballroom — and following Nexstar, the largest TV station group in the country, pulling the show for the “foreseeable future.” The company later clarified it did so “unilaterally” sans FCC pressure. Meanwhile, Sinclair Broadcast Group, the second largest national station operator and largest owner of ABC affiliate stations, said it would not lift the suspension until Kimmel had apologized to Kirk’s family and made a “meaningful donation” to his conservative nonprofit organization Turning Point USA. As such, the company replaced its Kimmel slot with a tribute to Kirk.

Meanwhile, as Trump celebrated the news, implying that Meyers and Jimmy Fallon are next up for removal, Democratic leaders penned a joint statement over the matter, as the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee vowed he would launch a formal investigation. In Hollywood, guilds have reacted with fervor, with writers and actors protesting at the Disney lot in Burbank, and top talent — from Damon Lindelof to She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany — either announcing they will not work with Disney in the aftermath or calling for consumer boycotts of properties like Hulu and Disney+. Andor writer and recently minted Emmy winner Dan Gilroy penned a guest column in Deadline denouncing the “venomous evil” and governmental “siege.”

The move by ABC was also blasted by leading conservatives like Ted Cruz and former Disney CEO Michael Eisner. In the latest development today, an ABC Sacramento affiliate, the site of a protest the day prior, was hit with gunfire; no one was injured.

“This sh– ain’t new; it’s worse, we’ll get to that, but ABC, they are steady,” Maher said. “ABC stands for Always Be Caving. So, Jimmy, pal, I am with you, I support you, and on the bright side, you don’t have to pretend anymore that you like Disneyland.”

Maher continued in his monologue, calling the “intimidation on the right” “so hypocritical.” He made several jokes about corporate kowtowing, including how Good Morning America has changed its name to add the postscript “even the scum who didn’t vote for Trump” and that next year’s Golden Bachelor will be Rudy Giuliani. He added that even Wolf Blitzer would be reporting from “The Capitulation Room” (CNN’s program, with Blizter and Pamela Brown, is called The Situation Room).

During the show, Maher called out the hosts of The View for ignoring Kimmel’s sidelining for the second day in a row “you know, ’cause it’s never been their thing to weigh in on the issues … it’s just an upbeat party show — that’s why they hired people named Joy [Behar] and Sunny [Hostin] and Whoopi [Goldberg].” (Yesterday, Carr threatened regulatory scrutiny on the talk show, citing the FCC’s equal time rule as his reason for considering such action.)

Maher noted that he didn’t think what Kimmel said “was exactly right,” but maintained he “doesn’t deserve to lose his job over it.”

He added, “It is a fool’s errand to try to say that these nuts who do these things are any ‘team’ … This kid [alleged Kirk shooter Tyler Robinson] is in his basement with VR goggles on, getting virtually ass-f—ed by a cartoon wombat [via the game Furry Shades of Gay 3: Still Gayer], and you’re gonna put politics into this? This kid doesn’t belong in either party, he belongs in a straitjacket.”

Concluding, Maher addressed Kimmel directly: “Pal, you did a great, funny show for two decades; you should be proud of that. If this firing goes for you the way it did for me, you’ll get 23 years on a better network.”

GloRilla Takes Aim At Young Thug, Mariah The Scientist On Diss Track

by jummy84 September 14, 2025
written by jummy84

GloRilla took it to the booth in reply to insulting remarks from Young Thug, revealed during a leaked jail call last week.

In response to the recording, where Thugger refers to the Memphis artist as “ugly,” GloRilla has dropped a diss track targeting the Atlanta rapper over Hot Styles’ 2008 “Lookin’ A** Ni**a” beat.

The track starts off with Glo jokingly calling herself “Brianna,” as the Business Is Business rapper called her that as he scoffed at the thought of people comparing her to Rihanna.

Glo goes on to compare Young Thug’s — or “Young Bug” as she calls him — looks to everything from a “Black and Mild” to a “Jamaican Vegeta,” also taking shots at his fashion sense and the more feminine ‘fits he’s rocked over the years.

“Cut shirt wearin’ a** ni**a, skirt wearin’ a** ni**a
A bug on the ‘Gram ’bout to chirp lookin’ a** ni**a
A pain in the a** tryna hump lookin’ a** ni**a
A ho in the mirror ’bout to twerk lookin’ a** ni**a
.”

She also references the fact the Young Thug attempted to flirt with her before the recordings revealed what he said about her looks.

Young Thug wasn’t the only target, however, as his girlfriend, Mariah The Scientist, also caught a few shots for entertaining Thugger’s insults over the phone. Glo took a few playful jabs, like comparing the singer to a “sexy Winnie The Pooh,” but also called out Mariah’s seeming willingness to put up with cheating and general disrespect from the “Parade On Cleveland” rapper.

“Birdie and the freak lookin’ a** bit*h
Brain size of a pea lookin’ a** bit*h
I don’t care if he cheat lookin’ a** bit*h
Long as he come home to me lookin’ a** bitch (Ha, haha).”

Many have noted that GloRilla and Mariah The Scientist hit the stage together as recently as June for Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash in Atlanta, adding an interesting layer to both the song and their friendship.

Despite dishing out a few bars aimed at the couple, Glo was also sure to state that the track is “all fun and games,” and that she doesn’t have any hard feelings. Check out the track below.

After the initial phone call was leaked, Young Thug took to X to apologize to the “TGIF” rapper, writing, “@GloTheofficial first of all I’m sorry to u for my words and I honestly don’t think ur ugly at all, I was speaking from jail just having a hard time with life.. I don’t like bashing girls and hardly ever did.. I’m sorry to u twin.”

Unbelievable “Bohemian Rhapsody” Flashmob Takes Over Paris Streets

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Thirty musicians and singers recently gathered in the streets of Paris for a flashmob performance of Queen’s iconic song “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

A video of the flashmob was posted on the YouTube channel of one of the performers, pianist Julien Cohen, on Tuesday (September 9th), and the clip has since gone viral, surpassing over 500,000 views in just one day.

The flashmob took place in a particularly busy intersection for foot traffic. With the presence of a drum kit, speakers, and a piano, onlookers might have been anticipating some kind of busker performance; unbeknownst to them, they were about to witness an epic public orchestration of the Queen classic.

Related Video

Cohen appears to guide the performance from the piano, but it’s young UK guitar prodigy Olly Pearson who steals the show, shredding through Brian May’s guitar flourishes and solos. Elsewhere, singers are placed in the windows of apartments surrounding the street, providing the song’s iconic operatic vocals and call-and-response sections.

Overall, the production of the video and choreography of the flashmob is mighty impressive, and everything appears to go off without a hitch.

Dhanashree Verma Takes A Subtle Jibe at ‘Gold Digger’ Label After Chahal Divorce

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Choreographer Dhanashree Verma has been open about the intense trolling she faced following her separation and divorce from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, but she has recently started addressing the criticism with a subtle jibe. In a promo for an upcoming episode of the reality show Rise and Fall on Amazon MX Player, she made a clever reference to the “gold digger” label she received.

In the clip, contestants are faced with a choice between a gold bag and a silver bag. Her partner, actor Arjun Bijlani, states, “Look, diamonds and silver don’t suit me. Gold suits me.” Dhanashree’s response came with an ironic smirk, as she quipped, “I cannot say this line. If I say this line, I won’t even get the love that I am going to get.” The comment was an unmistakable reference to the online hate she has faced.

The public scrutiny intensified after her divorce from Chahal, particularly on the day their divorce was finalized in March. Chahal was seen wearing a T-shirt that read, “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy,” which fueled further online attacks against Dhanashree. Reacting to the incident on the Humans of Bombay podcast, Dhanashree confessed she was taken aback. She expressed that if he wanted to convey a message, he should have done it privately. “You should have sent it on WhatsApp. Why wear the T-shirt?” she said.

The couple, who married in December 2020, began living apart in mid-2022. They filed for divorce by mutual consent in February, and the divorce was granted the following month. Despite their public history, Dhanashree recently shared in a vlog with Farah Khan that she is still in touch with Chahal through messages, stating, “He used to call me maa; he is sweet only.”

Howard Stern’s Show Canceled at SiriusXM, Andy Cohen Takes Over Channel

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Howard Stern‘s run on SiriusXM has come to an end after 20 years.

Last month, amid a spate of rumors and speculation that Stern’s SiriusXM deal was not being renewed, Stern gleefully turned the chatter into a tune-in promo. His show told listeners he would address the topic on the Sept. 2 episode of “The Howard Stern Show”; however, last week, he postponed the reveal until Sept. 8 — indicating that a deal was not yet done.

On Monday morning, on Stern’s Channel 100 on SiriusXM, it wasn’t Stern who came on the air — it was Andy Cohen who introduced himself and said that the channel going forward will now be known as “Andy 100.”

“I know you’re expecting a big announcement from Howard, and this is not how things were meant to go,” Cohen said. “This was supposed to be a cleaner hand off — I’m kind of winging it,” he continued, saying that it has been a “surreal morning here.”

Added Cohen, “I can’t possibly fill his void” and said he was confident Stern would land on another platform soon.

Stern, who is 71, first signed with satellite radio broadcaster Sirius in 2004 (prior to its merger with XM), in part to be free of oversight by the FCC, which had levied millions of dollars in fines on terrestrial radio stations that carried his show for alleged indecency. “The Howard Stern Show” debuted on Sirius in January 2006. His most recent five-year renewal with SiriusXM was inked in 2020.

Last week, SiriusXM execs acknowledged that talks with Stern were ongoing but that they hoped to ink a new deal. “I think he’s been core to our platform for over 20 years, so I’m confident we’ll get to the right place,” SiriusXM CEO Jennifer Witz said Sept. 3 at an investment conference.

Stern’s original deal with Sirius was worth $500 million over five years including stock. His more recent renewals “topped out at roughly $80 million to $100 million,” according to Bloomberg. Regarding a Bloomberg report in 2020 that Stern was nearing a deal with SiriusXM worth $120 million annually, Stern said on his show at the time that he and his agent were “kind of baffled by it.”

Over the years, the notoriously ribald Stern has interviewed hundreds of actors, comedians, music artists, athletes, politicians and more on his show. At his side for most of his career have been co-host Robin Quivers, write Fred Norris and producer Gary “Baba Booey” Dell’Abate.

More On The Resurfaced Footage Of Stefon Diggs Taking A Tumble While Exercising On The Pilates Machine

Over the weekend, The Shade Room posted footage of Stefon Diggs exercising on a pilates machine. Furthermore, the footage seemingly showed Diggs in deep focus with his hands clasped into the handles of the pilates machine and his knees flat on the machine’s bench. Furthermore, as the video played, the exercise required Diggs to lift his arms while pulling his body forward on the machine. At first, Diggs appeared to be successful at the stretch. However, as the bench pulled forward, Diggs took a hard tumble.

Check out the clip below.

To note, the footage of Stefon Diggs initially made headlines in 2024. In June of that year, the New York Post noted that the clip of Diggs went viral, with one pilates instructor even reposting the clip and commenting, “‘S**t is not even that hard FR.’ The camera roll determined that statement was cap.”

The Internet Is Crackin’ UP

Nonetheless, social media users reacted to the resurfaced footage of Stefon Diggs in The Shade Room’s comment section.

Instagram user @sua_ve wrote, “I would’ve broke my MCL, ACL, CDL, BBC, AOL, YOU’ got mail”

While Instagram user @jjones1911 added, “Pilates is hard as f**k. I’m convinced you ladies be in there training for world war 😂”

Instagram user @adjee wrote, “His other leg threw the balance off 🧐”

While Instagram user @thekempire added, “A lot of these bros think Pilates is easy and this is what happens to them often lol … Pilates gets harder and harder and it’s great for the body!”

Instagram user @fashionofphilly wrote, “Their laughter brings me so much joy tho 😆”

While Instagram user @coco_kiiish added, “Yeah I love to see Pilates take these muscle men out 😂😂”

Instagram user @jen_andco wrote, “The fact that he’s one of the ones laughing the loudest at himself😂😂”

While Instagram user @princedre._ added, “Outset Set Up That Machine Personally 😂”

Instagram user @____shaka wrote, “Pilates sounded so innocent. So easy sounding.. but that s**t hard as hell! 😭😂”

While Instagram user @_dan_da_great added, “Here goes another Jet2 Halliday 😂💀”

Instagram user @onelostgemini wrote, “He in pain for real. That laughing keeping them tears in. 😂”

While Instagram user @kbombshell_ added, “Pilates is not a game!! 😂😂😂”

Meanwhile, Stefon Diggs even stepped in to add:

“I thought it was easy 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️😂😂”

Months After His Tumble On The Pilates Machine, Stefon Diggs Made Headlines For Another Viral Video

Months after Stefon Diggs took his now-viral tumble on the pilates machine, he then made headlines for separate footage. As The Shade Room previously reported, in May, footage surfaced of Diggs holding a bag filled with a pink substance while being surrounded by women on a yacht. Ultimately, the footage led to his NFL New England Patriots coach, Coach Mike Vrabel, speaking out.

The Occasionall Group, a leading provider of event staffing solutions, today announces a strategic leadership transition that reflects both its growth and its commitment to people-first values. Managing Director Josh Heyburn will be shifting his focus from daily operations as he begins a new role as Lecturer in Event Management at Buckinghamshire New University, while long-time team leader Natalie Evans is promoted to People & Culture Director. “Founding this company and leading it through the past few years has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. It’s been fast-paced, people-driven, and full of growth – and it’s only possible because of the brilliant team around me.

This shift marks a new chapter, not a departure. Becoming Founding Director allows me to focus more intentionally on strategic leadership, while starting a new role as a Lecturer in Event Management – a space where I hope to bring industry insights to the classroom, while also bringing a fresh perspective back into the business.

I’m incredibly proud of everything TOG has become, and proud to see Natalie formally step into the role of People & Culture Director. Her leadership, insight, and commitment have shaped the company in ways that most people don’t even notice – and I can think of no more capable person to take it forward.

With this transition, our clients, partners, and staff can expect more of what they’ve always known from TOG: thoughtful delivery, responsive leadership, and a people-first approach that puts culture at the centre of everything we do.”

Natalie’s Leadership & Continuity
Having worked closely with Josh to build and grow the company, Natalie has been pivotal in shaping TOG’s team-centred culture, developing the systems that underpin its success, and leading operations with consistency and care. From Natalie:

“I’m honoured to step into the role of People & Culture Director at The Occasionall Group. Working alongside Josh to grow this business has been an incredible journey. My priority now is to ensure that our team and clients continue to feel fully supported – there will be no change to the level of excellence our clients expect from TOG.”

What This Means for the Team & Clients
Josh will continue to support the business strategically, particularly during peak event seasons, while Natalie provides strong, day-to-day leadership. This transition has been designed to be seamless, ensuring clients continue to experience the same reliability, professionalism, and exceptional service TOG is known for.

Looking Ahead
The Occasionall Group remains committed to delivering excellence for clients, staff, and the wider events community. With a leadership transition built on trust, shared values, and continuity, the company is poised for continued growth and success.

Lucio Fulci’s ‘Zombi 2’ (1979) Takes on a Fight with a Real Shark

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

On Friday nights, IndieWire After Dark honors fringe cinema in the streaming age with midnight movies from any moment in film history.

First, the BAIT: a weird genre pick and why we’re exploring its specific niche right now. Then, the BITE: a spoiler-filled answer to the all-important question, “Is this old cult film actually worth recommending now?”

The Bait: We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat(y McBoatface)

In 2016, Britain’s Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) added an exciting new vessel to its polar fleet. The impressive research ship took four years to construct and cost more than £200 million in labor and materials. Today, she’s a feat of modern engineering on voyages across the Arctic, where her specialized hull cuts into thick walls of sea ice as her passengers’ chart their paths to academic success.

Jeremy Allen White in Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere
'King Hamlet'

Yes, that is what happened to Boaty McBoatface.

Nine years ago, when the British public was asked to vote on a name for their coast’s latest floating landmark, the goofy half-joke “Boaty McBoatface” was proposed by BBC presenter James Hand. It won in a landslide, and though council members tried to ignore the results of the popular internet poll at first, word of a possible snub spread and turned into outrage fast.

In the summer of 2025, the massive watercraft from the U.K. is proudly known as the RSS Sir David Attenborough — so named for the beloved English broadcaster and nature historian. Still, the surprisingly vocal Boaty McBoatface electorate secured a seriously symbolic concession in the end.

The Attenborough measures nearly 129 meters from bow to stern, and it’s home to important academic studies and maritime expeditions. So, no, the ship is still not named “Boaty McBoatface.” But the National Oceanography Center does have another watercraft with that name. The second Boaty is an autonomous underwater vehicle that’s smaller, bright yellow, and beloved for her fitting identifier.

The cultural impact of the NERC’s crowdsourcing mess in 2016 means that the Attenborough and Boaty could go on causing confusion forever. A similar situation has been playing out in the scary movie world since the late 1970s, when “Night of the Living Dead” genius George A. Romero made his triumphant return to ghoulish cinema with the masterful “Dawn of the Dead” in 1978.

Enter Lucio Fulci, the director of the gleefully grotesque “Zombi 2” (1979). Known by at least a dozen other titles — including “Zombie,” “Island of the Living Dead,” “Zombie Flesh Eaters,” and more — this poorly dubbed gore-fest rose to midnight infamy on a tidal wave of “video nasties” streaming out of the U.K in the early 1980s. These extreme underground horror efforts varied in quality, but many controversial hits like “Zombi 2” earned their place in art history by circulating on the fringes first.

At 51 years old, Fulci had already made dozens of genre movies. He was well-respected for his suspense and giallo, but he’s remembered by modern horror fans as the Godfather of Gore. “Zombi 2” is a testament to the late filmmaker’s hair-brained commitment to bizarre stunts (read that headline again: a ZOMBIE fights a SHARK!) and rigorous practical effects, designed by the incredible Giannetto De Rossi.

Comfortably seated aboard the niche subgenre of “tropical horror” (which also includes titles from 1985’s shocking “Cannibal Holocaust” to the lovable live-action “Scooby-Doo”), Fulci’s vibrant island haunting blends (regrettably) dated voodoo tropes and graphic encounters with the undead to surprisingly fresh and provocative effect. It’s slow at times but a blast to watch if you can stomach the rotting flesh, writhing bugs, and sneaky director’s decision to slyly screw over the Father of Zombies.

After directing “Night of the Living Dead” in 1968, Romero stepped back from horror for a significant period. Venturing through comedy, romance, science fiction, and other lighter fare, that break was generally considered good for the director. Still, he struggled to make a living, and when Romero finally returned to terror with his second undead triumph a decade later, the director’s satirical “Dawn of the Dead” was acclaimed but became chum for a vicious school of copycats, including Fulci.

Distributed by co-financier Dario Argento, Romero’s best movie arrived in Italian theaters under the title “Zombi.” The following year, Fulci named his film “Zombi 2” to force an association between the projects, which share some sensibilities but no real narrative. The unofficial “Dawn of the Dead” spinoff has flapped in the breeze as a confusing hidden gem ever since. It managed to inspire a brief frenzy among contemporary cinephiles back then and would later spark a franchise of more (mostly) unrelated films.

The sequel you are about to see created a murky history between Fulci and Romero. Dedicated zombie aficionados continue to compare the two filmmakers’ approaches to the undead today — but even lacking a British sense of humor, you’d hope Romero would be the kind of American director to vote for Boaty McBoatface… or, at the very least, not swim in her way

Lucio Fulci’s “Zombi 2” (1979) is now streaming on Tubi.

The Bite: Wow, These Subheads Sure Worked Out, Huh?

Check back in a feature-length. Are you watching “Zombi 2”?

Dear Media President Paige Port on Her Daily Routine and What It Really Takes to Create a Hit Podcast

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Listen up! Dear Media president Paige Port and DITL (a.k.a. Day in the Life) host is spilling all the secrets to building a top-charting podcast.

While the entertainment expert, who has interviewed Jordin Sparks, Harry Hamlin, and Hannah Brown, is usually uncovering celebrities’ daily routines, ET flipped the script to see how Port manages her own busy schedule.

Let’s Not Talk About the Husband

“During the week, I’m up around 6 a.m. and I start the day with a workout. I usually do a mix of F45, obé, and Form before shifting into mom mode,” she shares. “My husband gets our two kids up and out of bed, and by the time I get home, it’s time to get them ready for school.”

From there, the entrepreneur heads to the network’s office in West Hollywood, California, where she helps A-listers like Khloé Kardashian, Scheana Shay, and Kristin Cavallari turn their ideas into hit shows.

“My day is typically spent in meetings with our talent and team,” Port notes.

Khloé in Wonder Land

As for why many stars are flocking to this format: “A podcast gives them the time and space to share their stories in their own words. It creates a direct, intimate connection with their audience that feels both unfiltered and intentional.”

Whether Port is the behind the mic, or behind-the-scenes, she believes authenticity is essential for making engaging content.

“People want depth and connection in a way that fits into their daily lives. … It’s all about creating a space that feels warm, inviting, and curious,” she shares.

Dear Media

“If you’re truly interested, that energy translates and makes the conversation more engaging. … When guests feel listened to and not rushed, they open up and share the most candid moments.”

As for other tips to flourish in the space, Port says consistency is key.

“The shows that succeed are the ones that show up week after week and build trust with their audience over time. Also, good audio and video quality always helps.”
