“You’re going to be just fine… The road is clear, each decision is yours.” 1-2 Special in the US has debuted their official trailer for the superb film titled Urchin, marking the directorial debut of famous British actor Harris Dickinson (best known from the films Triangle of Sadness, Scrapper, The Iron Claw, Babygirl, Blitz). This is his own film – he wrote and directed it. And it’s one of the best debuts of 2025. Urchin initially premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival a few months ago, and I wrote a nice review saying: “Not only is the direction confident and the vision for this story clear, it’s a damn good film featuring clever creative choices.” Mike, a rough sleeper (aka homeless man) in London, is trapped in a cycle of self-destruction as he attempts to turn his life around. Featuring an outstanding performance from Frank Dillane as Mike, also with Megan Northam (Meanwhile on Earth), Diane Axford, Murat Erkek, Moe Hashim, Shonagh Marie, & Karyna Khymchuk. This is a much better trailer than the other UK trailer, getting into more of the themes & character work from Dillane. I hope this film finds audiences worldwide – deserves to be a hit.

After a tense incident lands him in prison, he tries to piece his life back together — entering rehab, looking for work, and attempting to reconnect with people. Urchin is written and directed by acclaimed British actor / writer / filmmaker Harris Dickinson, making his feature directorial debut after a few other short films previously. Produced by Archie Pearch & Scott O’Donnell. This first premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year (read our review). Picturehouse debuts Dickinson’s Urchin in UK cinemas starting on October 3rd, 2025 this fall. 1-2 Special will also release the film in select US theaters starting on October 10th. This is a good one – worth watching when it opens. How does that look?

On July, 31, 2025, Justin, 44, revealed he was diagnosed with Lyme disease while completing his Forget Tomorrow World Tour. In an Instagram post, he shared, “Among other things, I’ve been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease — which I don’t say so you feel bad for me — but to shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes.”

He added, “If you’ve experienced this disease or know someone who has — then you’re aware: living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically.”

Jessie  J

British singer Jessie J announced in early June 2025 that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. The 37-year-old confirmed she will undergo surgery soon and emphasized that the cancer was detected in its earliest, most treatable phase. In an Instagram video posted on June 3, 2025, she said, “I’ve always shared everything that I go through in my life. Before ‘No Secrets’ came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer.”

“I’m highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word early,” she explained, noting that she’s been in and out of tests.

She added, “I know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories.”

Eric Dane

Euphoria star Eric Dane announced in April that he had received a diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). At 52, he shared that he is grateful to have his “loving family” by his side while going through his health battle.

He added, “I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria next week. I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.”

Teddi  Mellencamp

Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp has battled a diagnosis of stage 2 melanoma since 2022. In early 2025, she was hospitalized for multiple brain tumors linked to the skin cancer. After surgery to remove tumors from her brain—and further surgeries for lung tumors—she expressed gratitude for her medical team and remains in active treatment.

On April 2, the 44-year-old shared a health update on her Instagram Stories while lying in bed, thanking fans for their support. “I woke up to so many kind messages,” she said. “I just want to say thank you guys so much. So many messages about how strong I am. And I gotta tell you, some days I feel really really strong and some days I feel really really sad and alone. And I think that’s a normal part of what any of us are going through, and that’s okay. Stage 4 cancer can be scary.”

Bindi  Irwin

Bindi Irwin was hospitalized in May 2025 after experiencing a ruptured appendix. During her recovery, the 27-year-old also underwent surgery to remove endometriosis lesions and repair a hernia. She shared her journey publicly and on her Instagram she thanked fans for their support while she healed. “Thank you for your incredible words of support and kindness. The reason I share my health journey is because more girls and women desperately need answers to their undiagnosed pain. I’ve battled with endometriosis for more than 12 years. This disease is crippling and can make you feel incredibly isolated.”

She added, “We need to raise awareness and change the narrative for women’s health.”

Lupita Nyong’o

Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o revealed in July 2025 that she’s been silently battling uterine fibroids since 2014—the same year she earned her Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 12 Years a Slave. The 42-year-old shared on Instagram that she started talking about her experience privately and soon realized so many women were going through a similar situation.

Elton John

Music legend Elton John, 78, has spoken candidly in 2025 about a serious eye infection he contracted in 2024 that resulted in significant vision loss—completely losing sight in his right eye and suffering limited vision in his left.

In April 2025, he told Times of London that his vision loss got worse to the point where he can’t “see TV, I can’t read. I can’t see my boys playing rugby and soccer, and it has been a very stressful time because I’m used to soaking it all up.”

Billy Porter

In September 2025, Broadway’s Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club revealed Billy Porter, 55, was bowing out of his role as Emcee in the production because he was battling sepsis—a condition that when the body’s immune system has a dangerous reaction to an infection (usually bacterial).

“Due to a serious case of sepsis, Billy Porter must also withdraw from the production,” a statement from the company’s Instagram account read. “His doctors are confident that he will make a full recovery but have advised him to maintain a restful schedule.”

Outlander‘s prequel spinoff, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, has easily captured our hearts as it chronicles the intersecting love stories of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) parents.

While the show may have kicked off with Claire’s parents, Julia (Hermione Corfield) and Henry (Jeremy Irvine) occupying World War I England, the action quickly shifted to the 18th-century Scottish Highlands, as they were whisked away through time at the standing stones of Craigh Na Dun. Their journey may have torn them apart, but it put them in the path of Jamie’s parents, Ellen (Harriet Slater) and Brian (Jamie Roy), just as their forbidden romance was kicking off.

And despite the drama these characters may face in the series, the stars were all laughs as they played a round of Knock Your Blocks Off: Swooon Edition during which they addressed rom-coms, ACOTAR, and much more. As the quartet pulls blocks from our heart-shaped tower, Slater was first up, prompted to share the most romantic TV or movie line she could think of.

Rajkummar Rao proved his acting prowess when he wonderfully portrayed the titular role in the 2024 film Srikanth. The actor did full justice to the character of Srikanth Bolla, a blind man who becomes a successful entrepreneur.

But before Rajkummar, quite a few Bollywood stars took on role of visually impaired characters and masterfully portrayed their challenges on screen. Here are 8 Bollywood actors who left an indelible mark on the audience’s hearts by playing visually challenged roles.

1. Rani Mukerji In Black

In 2005, Rani Mukerji was widely lauded for starring as a deaf-and-blind woman in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black. The actress represented the trials and tribulations faced by specially-abled people by playing Michelle, a girl who could neither see nor hear. But, with the guidance of her stubborn teacher, Debraj, played by Amitabh Bachchan, Michelle explores her full potential and dreams of getting a college degree. Rani’s act in Black is counted among her finest performances. The actress swept almost all the Best Actress Awards that year, winning big at Filmfare, IIFA, Screen, Stardust, and Zee Cine Awards.

2. Kajol In Fanaa

Kajol impressed the viewers and critics alike when she played Zooni Ali Beg, a visually-challenged woman from Kashmir, in the 2006 film Fanaa. The Kunal Kohli directorial follows Zooni, who falls in love with a tourist guide, Rehan (Aamir Khan), during a trip to Delhi. While Rehan eventually helps her in getting her eyesight back, Zooni remains unaware of his real identity. Kajol’s nuanced portrayal of a girl whose character graph goes through several ups and downs earned her the Best Actress trophy at the 52nd Filmfare Awards.

3. Ayushmann Khurrana In Andhadhun

Andhadhun was the film that boosted Ayushmann Khurrana’s Bollywood career and made him an A-list star. The 2018 film follows a visually impaired piano player, Akash (Ayushmann), who gets embroiled in a violent run and chase when he witnesses a former actor getting murdered. Whether Akash was blind or pretending to be one is still a mystery, and Ayushmann’s enchanting performance only made the story even more ambiguous. Andhadhun was directed by the maestro, Sriram Raghavan and starred powerhouses of talents like Tabu and Radhika Apte. Ayushmann bagged the National Film Award for Best Actor and a Filmfare Best Actor (Critics) Award for his portrayal.

4 & 5. Hrithik Roshan & Yami Gautam in Kaabil

Sanjay Gupta’s Kaabil told the heart-wrenching story of a visually challenged couple, Rohan and Supriya, played by Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam, respectively. The two fall in love and live a happy married life until one day, when some local goons assault Supriya and she ends up committing suicide. Rohan then quests for justice and, despite being blind, uses his other senses and skills to get revenge. Hrithik’s performance in the film was hugely appreciated, as he portrayed both the shades of a vulnerable lover and a menacing killer. Yami was also praised for her role portraying a woman who succumbs to a heartbreaking tragedy.

5. Sanjay Dutt In Dushman

Sanjay Dutt has played various roles in his career, including that of a blind man in the 1998 hit Dushman. A remake of the Hollywood film Eye for an Eye, Dushman revolves around Naina, played by Kajol, who wants to avenge her twin sister’s assault and murder by the sadist killer and r*pist, Gokul (Ashutosh Rana). Sanjay Dutt appears as a visually impaired Army veteran, Major Suraj Singh Rathod, who trains Naina in her mission and ends up having feelings for her. Several stars rejected the challenging role before it landed in Dutt’s lap, and the actor played it to perfection, winning over the hearts of audiences and critics.

7. Naseeruddin Shah In Sparsh

Back in 1980, Naseeruddin Shah essayed the role of Anirudh, a blind principal at a school for visually impaired children, who falls in love with a sighted teacher, Kavita, played by Shabana Azmi. The film beautifully captures the essence of the relationship between the two, as Anirudh starts to feel unsure about their future owing to his condition. Still, the couple keeps helping children at the school. Naseeruddin mesmerized the viewers with his subtle acting and won the National Film Award for Best Actor. He went on to play a blind man again in the 2015 film Welcome Back, albeit in a comic role.

8. Deepika Padukone In Lafangey Parindey

Deepika Padukone was still in the initial phase of her career when she starred as a blind woman in the romantic drama Lafangey Parindey. She played Pinky Palkar, an aspiring skater who loses her eyesight in an accident. Nandu (Neil Nitin Mukesh), who was responsible for the accident, starts to train Pinky and helps her prepare for a skating competition, and the two get romantically involved. Though the film was a box-office dud, Deepika’s portrayal of a young girl who strives to achieve her dreams despite being blind enchanted the viewers.

Kiku Sharda, one of the most loved faces from The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, has finally addressed speculation about his alleged fallout with co-star Krushna Abhishek. Reports had suggested that Sharda had quit the comedy series after a supposed on-set argument with Krushna. However, putting all rumours to rest, the actor confirmed that there is no feud and that he continues to be an integral part of Kapil Sharma’s team.

Taking to Instagram, Sharda shared a cheerful photo with Krushna and wrote, “yeh bandhan… kabhi nahi tootega! The ‘fight’ was a prank only.” He also urged fans not to believe gossip, assuring them that he remains part of the show’s “parivaar.”

Viral Clip Sparked Confusion

The misunderstanding began after a video circulated online showing Sharda and Krushna in what looked like a heated exchange. In the clip, Krushna was heard saying, “Aap karlo, bhai, koi problem nahi hai. Main jata hu yaha se,” while Sharda responded, “Raise voice ka baat nahi hai, aap isko galat tarike se leke jaa rahe hai.”

What seemed like a genuine argument turned out to be scripted banter, later revealed as a prank. The video’s timing, paired with a paparazzo’s post, fueled assumptions that Sharda had walked out of the show.

Fans Reassured

Sharda’s clarification not only reaffirmed his strong bond with Krushna but also reminded viewers that only three episodes remain in the ongoing season on Netflix. His statement reflects his trademark humour and reassures audiences that the laughter will continue uninterrupted.

Beyond Comedy

While continuing his work on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Sharda is also gearing up for a new project. He is expected to feature in Ashneer Grover’s upcoming series Rise and Fall on Amazon MX Player, with an official announcement awaited.
