Sabrina Carpenter To Star In ‘Alice In Wonderland’ Movie

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

In September it was revealed that Disney Channel alum Sabrina Carpenter would be returning to her acting roots for Seth Rogen’s upcoming The Muppet Show revival. Today, she’s officially adding another acting project to her schedule, as she’s set to star in and co-produce an upcoming Alice In Wonderland movie musical.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that the untitled film for Universal Pictures will be based on Lewis Carroll’s classic 1865 novel. Lorene Scafaria, best known for her 2019 strip club crime-comedy Hustlers, will write and direct the new Alice adaptation, while Wicked mastermind Marc Platt will also produce.

Sources told THR that the movie is a “passion project” for Carpenter, who reportedly approached Universal herself to pitch a new Alice In Wonderland adaptation before Scafaria was attached to the project. I wonder if the Mad Hatter will serve espresso instead of tea.

Meanwhile, Carpenter is also celebrating six new Grammy nominations: “Manchild” is up for Song Of The Year, Record Of The Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Music Video, while Man’s Best Friend got nods for Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Oscar-nominated star Sally Kirkland dies aged 84

11 November 2025

Oscar-nominated actress Sally Kirkland has died at the age of 84.

Sally Kirkland has passed away at the age of 84

The Hollywood star’s passing was confirmed by her representative Michael Greene on Tuesday (11.11.25) – just days after it was announced that she’d entered hospice care amid her battle with dementia.

Sally was best known for her role in the 1987 film Anna – which earned her the Oscar nod and a Golden Globe Award – and also had parts in Bruce Almighty, JFK, The Haunted and the original Charlie’s Angels TV series.

It had been revealed earlier this week that she had been diagnosed with dementia last year and was receiving hospice care in Palm Springs, California.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by friends, Kirkland had struggled with “two separate life-threatening conditions”.

A recent update to the page read: “Thank you for all your love and support. Sally is grateful for your kindness and love.

“Sally is in a hospice now and is resting comfortably. Please hold and send the light for Sally.”

The daughter of former Vogue magazine fashion editor Sally Kirkland, she appeared nude in the stage production The 13 Most Beautiful Women during the 1960s before playing Robert Redford’s love interest in the 1973 movie The Sting.

Her portrayal of the titular character in Anna earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress – which saw her up against the likes of Meryl Streep, Glenn Close and Cher.

Sally recalled in 2012: “At the Oscars, there were all these movie stars emerging from their limos, and then there was me. I felt like Cinderella.

“The greatest part was the feeling to be in the same Oscar category of these women that I was a huge fan of – Meryl, Glenn, Holly (Hunter) and Cher, who I used to roller skate with in the ’70s.”

After her awards recognition with Anna, Sally portrayed an outrageous rock star opposite Kevin Costner in Tony Scott’s 1990 movie Revenge and featured in erotic thrillers such as High Stakes and In the Heat of Passion.

Sally was married and divorced twice and taught acting to students such as Sandra Bullock. She was also an ordained minister and practiced yoga.

She once said: “My attitude is always one of sensuality, aggressive enthusiasm and kind of outrageousness in my expression.

“I suppose if I wanted to be the girl next door, I could have. I think America is a little too confused by someone who appears to be sexual and spiritual at the same time.”

Superman Spinoff TV Show to Star Skyler Gisondo

by jummy84 November 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, who created the award-winning mockumentary American Vandal, are going into the DC Universe.

The duo will write, executive produce and showrun the Superman movie TV spinoff to star Skyler Gisondo, the actor who played Daily Planet photographer and unlikely ladies’ man Jimmy Olsen.

Gisondo and the character became a true breakout from James Gunn’s summer movie, and a show was put into development around him. The concept centers on Olsen, as well as other Daily Planet reporters (minus Lois Lane and Clark Kent), who tackle cases involving super-powered villains.

Gorilla Grodd would be in the spotlight for the season.  Grodd is a super-intelligent evil ape who rules a secret African city named Gorilla City. The character is a key antagonist for the Flash, and first appeared in an issue of the Scarlet Speedster’s comics back in 1959. He was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino.

Gunn and his DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran will executive produce. Galen Vaisman is overseeing for DC.

Perrault and Yacenda running the show tips off the tone of the series. The comedy writing duo got a big break with American Vandal, which parodied true-crime series but with a story about an investigation into who and why someone vandalized a school parking lot with phallic images. The show earned a Peabody Award as well as an Emmy nomination.

The duo also created Players, a mockumentary of sports documentaries that streamed on Paramount+. Perrault additionally wrote Universal’s R-rated talking dog movie Strays, while Yacenda directed episodes of the Glenn Powell show Chad Powers.

Doctor Who’s Ncuti Gatwa joins Wicked star in animated musical

by jummy84 November 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Ncuti Gatwa’s post-Doctor Who career has just added another major project, with the acclaimed actor taking a voice role in a major new animated film co-starring Wicked icon Cynthia Erivo.

Bad Fairies is a fantastical adventure slated for release in summer 2027, which follows a group of “delightfully subversive” fairies as they “shake up their magical world” (via Deadline).

Erivo was confirmed to star in the animated musical last month, with Gatwa being the latest addition to what looks poised to be an A-list voice cast; details about his character have not yet been disclosed.

Bad Fairies is written by comedian Deborah Frances-White (The Guilty Feminist), with Megan Nicole Dong (Netflix’s Centuarworld) and Oliver Staphylas (Wish Dragon) sharing directing duties.

Tony Award-winning songwriters Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss (best known for King Henry VIII-themed Six: The Musical) are also aboard the project, alongside composer Isabella Summers (a founding member of indie band Florence + The Machine).

For Gatwa, it marks his first major screen booking since a widely publicised exit from Doctor Who, after which the actor returned to the stage for West End runs on The Importance of Being Earnest and Born with Teeth.

Most recently, he was seen alongside Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch in romcom The Roses, and coming up next he has The Queen of Fashion; a biopic about stylist Isabella Blow, starring Andrea Riseborough (Alice & Jack) in the lead role.

No doubt Bad Fairies will be hoping to draw in Wicked-sized numbers on the strength of Erivo’s musical prowess.

After numerous theatre gigs, including Sister Act and The Colour Purple, the British actor moved into film from 2018 with roles in Bad Times at the El Royale, Widows and Harriet, where she was Oscar-nominated for her portrayal of Harriet Tubman.

However, Erivo’s film career has reached new heights in the past year, following her debut as Elphaba Thropp in the blockbuster film adaptation of Wicked.

The first film made more than $750 million at the global box office, with similarly high expectations for the forthcoming sequel Wicked: For Good, which is set to conclude the Wizard of Oz-inspired story later this month.

Further casting and plot details for Bad Fairies will be announced in due course.

Bad Fairies is coming to cinemas in May 2027.

Strictly star left “shaking” as dance of the night upends leaderboard

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Vicky Pattison and professional partner Kai Widdrington have earned their highest score to date on Strictly Come Dancing 2025, with a blockbuster Tango blowing everything out of the water tonight.

The television personality performed the dance to The Fate of Ophelia by pop superstar Taylor Swift, with Kai telling Claudia Winkleman after the performance that she was perfectly suited to the task.

“I didn’t want to tell Vicky this in the week, because I wanted to wait for this moment,” he began. “The thing is about Vicky is that she didn’t need to get into character for this dance because she is everything that this dance is about.

“Strong, independent, confident, willing, able and, to be honest, Anton was right: to dance that with Vicky felt like dancing with a professional – it was that good.”

Indeed, Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke said he was “stunned” by just how good the dance was, while infamously strict Craig Revel Horwood said it was “perfect” besides a minor complaint about the placement of Vicky’s left hand.

Motsi Mabuse stood by last week’s comment that Pattison is a potential finalist, adding: “Without a doubt, you are on fire. Whatever is giving you that fire, keep it up – this was, for me, the dance of the night.”

Shirley Ballas concurred that it was the “best” of tonight’s episode, describing Pattison and Widdrington’s work as nothing short of “remarkable”.

As their glowing praise came in, Strictly presenter Tess Daly commented that Pattison was “shaking”, and the reality star’s response only became more ecstatic in the Clauditorium.

The four experts certainly put their scoring paddles where their mouth was, awarding the couple three 10s and a 9 (holdout Craig, of course), for a near-perfect score that became the highest of this week’s leaderboard.

Pattison and Widdrington narrowly pipped Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin (38), and pushed well ahead of last week’s top scorers Lewis Cope and Katya Jones (35).

It puts the couple in a strong position for this week’s public vote, which will lead to yet another dance off and elimination – the results of which will be revealed tomorrow night.

Strictly Come Dancing results show airs Sunday at 7:10pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One and iPlayer.

Emmerdale star Joshua Richards on Bear’s shocking descent into modern slavery – and past role exploring “horrifying” subject matter

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Joshua Richards has spoken at length for the first time about his Emmerdale character Bear Wolf’s shocking new storyline.

Bear, who has been missing for several months while his son Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) assumed he was staying with a friend in Ireland, has actually been manipulated as a victim of modern slavery.

Shedding light on Bear’s circumstances, Richards told RadioTimes.com and other press that “basically it’s something that you can slip into, and if you’ve been manipulated a certain way”.

“And being a certain age as well, where maybe you do think that you’re useless and redundant, if someone convinces you that no, you are worth something, that you do have some kind of currency. Currency being the operative word,” he emphasised.

It’s a harrowing new story for the soap. ITV

“You can be somehow manipulated into a situation that you didn’t envisage seeing yourself in, in the first place. So it’s quite fascinating how these things actually do happen.”

The actor has described Bear’s ordeal as “one of the most horrifying things you can possibly think of”.

“Some are in the dark web of life, there are people who are gangs, who are criminals, who are ready to exploit people. Because the biggest bill you’ll ever get for anything you have done, for example your house extension, the biggest part of your bill is the labour,” he explained.

“And if criminal gangs can take that essence out, that you don’t have to pay for that labour, then that’s where big profits are made, people are exploited and misery begins.”

Richards went on to share how he prepared for such a harrowing storyline.

“All I can do is be a very old-fashioned actor and read the script because I don’t hold with the method way of things,” he said. “I didn’t lock myself away in a tent or hide in the countryside and try to scrabble along.

“No, I just read the scripts and used my imagination to put myself in the position of other people, who are in the real position. Basically it’s done by the auspices of the great researchers and the writers of the drama.”

Something that helped the star, who joined Emmerdale in 2019 as Paddy’s long-lost father, was that he has already portrayed modern slavery in his career.

Paddy looks worried in Emmerdale

Paddy thinks the police aren’t taking the situation seriously. ITV

“But also what’s fortunate for me, in 2007 I did a play written by John Godber and Jane Thornton from Hull Truck [Theatre Company] called Sold. Which was all about modern slavery.

“That was 18 years ago and we did it in Hull and also in Liverpool University, so it’s not a new subject for me; it’s something I’ve been aware of for many years and even before I did that play.

“It is quite frightening that even as we speak, there are about [50] million people in modern day slavery, which is horrific.”

Asked about the instalment in which Emmerdale will detail how Bear was targeted, Richards revealed: “Yes, it’ll be a standalone episode, where we’ll have some kind of explanation of what exactly happened to him after he got in his car and drove away.

“We did see a few weeks after he’d left the village that he was still with his car and not with his friend Gnasher in Ireland at all. So we will find out exactly what happened to him.”

The episode was filmed backwards, meaning that, after being assured that he would be coming back to the show, Richards had one specific assignment during his time off.

Celia Daniels grabs April Windsor and threatens her in Emmerdale

Celia and Ray – who are already grooming Amelia and Dylan – are his captors. ITV

“Clare Golds in make-up said: ‘Whatever you do, don’t cut your hair and don’t shave your beard. Go raggedy’. So I became a raggedy old man while I was off.

“You first see Bear when he’s at the real bottom, looking really filthy and scraggly and unkempt. Then bit by bit we took it away.”

While soaps have briefly explored modern slavery in recent years, this is the first time it will be covered in depth – and with an older character like Bear, who, notes Richards, typically considers himself strong and capable of defending himself.

“I thought it would be interesting, because of course Bear has been experiencing this depression and confusion. So maybe it’s a great thing to find him so vulnerable – a big strong man being vulnerable and exploited.”

On the message he hopes this story can send, Richards told RadioTimes.com and other media: “Be aware – it’s going on under our noses.

“We all have our cars cleaned and say: ‘Ooh, that’s cheap’. But who are the people cleaning your car? I mean, that’s just a very tiny part of it.

“It’s other things, it’s people who are picking your spuds, it’s people who are fixing your driveway, maybe there’s somebody doing work on your roof. You really don’t know. I mean, there are bona fide proper people – builders, farmers, other people – out there,” he said.

“I’m very proud to be part of what ITV is doing with these wonderful writers and the great research which has gone on. And maybe hopefully something… it will prompt something and there will be action.”

Joshua joined the soap in 2019. ITV

How does Richards think the viewers will react to the revelations about Bear?

“They’ll be furious!”

“I do get people coming up to me and saying: ‘How is Bear? We’re worried about him?’ You think ‘this is great’ because people who watch this soap really do care.”

Emmerdale is working with the Salvation Army on Bear’s story, which has also seen teens April and Dylan groomed in recent weeks.

5 Things to Know About the ‘White Lotus’ Star – Hollywood Life

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Aimee Lou Wood is a rising star in Hollywood, having appeared in several projects, including The White Lotus, which recently premiered its third season. The actress has drawn attention not only for her talent but also for comments regarding her appearance, particularly her teeth.

Speaking to The Sunday Times in April 2025, she shared, “I understand what it represents. People feel more confident about their imperfections. It does feel a bit weird that the thing I got bullied for is now the thing that everyone’s, like, ‘Woo!’” She continued, “It’s still the thing that’s defining me.” She continued, “It’s still the thing that’s defining me.”

In a more reflective conversation with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Aimee delved deeper into how she’s learned to navigate fame and self-worth. She revealed that years of body dysmorphia and anxiety once made her feel trapped by expectations — both on-screen and off — but acting became a space where she could process those emotions. “Acting has always been a safe place for me to work out my feelings.”

Learn more about her below.

Aimee Lou Wood Is From England

Aimee Lou Wood was born on February 3, 1994, in Stockport, United Kingdom.

She Made Her Acting Debut in Sex Education

Aimee’s breakout role came with Netflix’s Sex Education, where she portrayed Aimee Gibbs. Speaking to Elle in 2020, she said, “I had so many, some incredibly similar, experiences. I look back and can’t believe I didn’t used to get angry about stuff. I was so numb to it. Sometimes you would react how Maeve did, but then sometimes you would just go “ugh, d*ckhead” and then you were over it. It was so ingrained within me to think it was normal. It made me really reflect on how I just thought it was part of being a woman.”

She Previously Dated Her Co-Star

Aimee dated her Sex Education co-star Connor Swindells from 2018 to 2022. Aimee has since moved on and confirmed in her Harper’s Bazaar UK interview that she is now dating actor Adam Long, referring to him as her boyfriend.

Reflecting on love and independence in a 2021 interview with Grazia, Aimee said, “I find it hard when I’m in relationships to maintain my sense of who I am. I’m very independent, but I’m also quite impressionable. I can be taken away from myself quite easily — I kind of start betraying myself and compromising my integrity to keep someone else happy. That’s why it’s really important for me to have time alone.”

Aimee Lou Wood’s Family

Not much is known about Aimee’s parents, but several outlets report they are divorced. Her mother has worked for the British counseling service Childline, and her father is a car dealer. Her sister, Emily Wood, is a makeup artist who has worked with Glamour UK and Rollacoaster Magazine, according to Notion.

Aimee Lou Wood’s Net Worth

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Aimee Lou Wood has an estimated net worth of $2 million.

Shetland star teases Calder romance — but with complications

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Shetland might be a gritty crime drama, but that doesn’t mean it’s devoid of levity – as we see in the opening scene of season 10, when Calder regales Tosh with a recent dating disaster.

“We were getting to the end of the meal, we were talking… just all the usual first date stuff,” she said. “And then I looked up and…”

Calder’s date had fallen asleep, in the middle of his tiramisu.

“So what did you do?” asked Tosh.

“I paid the bill and I left. I didn’t want to disturb him,” laughed Calder, who clearly wasn’t aggrieved by how the date had panned out.

“I think the thing with Calder is, I think she’s gone on to this online dating app because she feels that she has to, a little bit, because that’s the way people do it,” Ashley Jensen told RadioTimes.com.

“She lives in Shetland, there’s not that much to do,” joked Alison O’Donnell. “So you might as well go on a date.”

She’s not wrong…

“But I think that she’s a lady of a certain age, when you used to meet someone and feel a frisson with them,” Jensen added. “And I think ultimately, that’s what she would rather do.”

Read more:

Calder then goes on to say that she’s “done with all this dating lark”.

“Well, for a while, anyway.”

Or so she says…

When the body of retired social worker Eadie Tulloch is uncovered, Calder and Tosh set about trying to unmask who killed her – and why.

“The case will see them excavate the victim’s life, past and present, as well as the lives of those who knew her,” reads the official synopsis.

And one such person is Eadie’s estranged son, Ed, to whom Calder breaks the news.

During their first interaction, there’s nothing to suggest that there could be something bubbling away between the pair. But Calder soon discovers that Ed didn’t get along with his mum and hadn’t spoken to her in over a year — something she’s able to relate to, given her own complicated relationship with her late dad.

But when Calder returns to Ed’s pub that evening — during a poetry night — to speak to him about his mum’s finances, their dynamic shifts, just a little.

He’s been asked to identify Eadie’s body as her next of kin, and he asks Calder if she’ll accompany him.

“Be great to have a friend. I mean, I know we’re not friends, but I knew Cal… we were in a band together way back.”

Cal Innes was an old flame from Calder’s younger years, and when she returned to Shetland, it quickly became clear that that flame hadn’t entirely been extinguished, with the pair spending the night together.

But they never had the chance to explore what their relationship could be, or if it could be anything at all, because Cal was killed while driving under the influence of both drink and drugs, leaving the detective emotionally crushed.

Following Ed’s request, Calder hesitates while processing his connection to Cal, before agreeing to be present while he identifies his mum.

He then responds with a look that could simply be gratitude — but this is Shetland, so you’d be forgiven for expecting more.

Rather than leave, Calder decides to stay and watch Ed read a poem he’s written after being summoned by a friend, and this time, the expression on her face suggests that there will be more to come between the pair.

“When she meets the son, it’s a bit like, oh, right, okay,” explained Jensen. “And I think that there’s a kind of element of he didn’t talk to his mum — they had a very strange, strained relationship, as did Calder with her dad. And I think that there’s an affinity there, a kind of understanding.

“Plus, I think she probably just fancied him as well… so there is an energy there, shall we say.”

But O’Donnell was quick to point out that “there’s a conflict of interest there”.

“Absolutely,” agreed Jensen. “And that’s why, in this series, things become enmeshed and entwined in certain ways they ought not to be.”

“RHOA” Star Angela Oakley’s Husband, NBA Veteran Charles Oakley, Ordered To Pay $642K In Legal Fees To Madison Square Garden Following Viral 2017 Arena Ejection

#RHOA Star #AngelaOakley’s hubby will have to hand over a pretty penny to #MadisonSquareGarden (MSG).

Former NBA forward #CharlesOakley has been ordered to pay more than $642,000 in legal #MSG, stemming from the fallout of his ejection from a 2017 game. The fee award stems largely from a court determination that Charles failed to preserve five years’ worth of text messages, which were crucial to his civil suit accusing MSG and owner #JamesDolan of a$$ault, battery and defamation.

The incident in question occurred on February 8, 2017, when Charles was removed from his courtside seat at MSG during a game between the #NewYorkKnicks and the #LosAngelesClippers. He was seen arguing with arena security and was handcuffed and escorted out by several security guards. He was later charged with misdemeanor a$$ault and criminal trespassing.

Charles maintained that he “never said a word to Dolan” and was “minding his own business when…security asked why I was sitting so close to Dolan.” Charles’ legal team plans to appeal the ruling.
