‘Nuremberg’ Star Rami Malek, Director James Vanderbilt Interview On Post-WWII Pic

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Rami Malek admits that while the subject matter of his latest film Nuremberg is sobering and grim, the story and characters were so compelling that he and his castmates couldn’t help but feel giddy when diving into the work.

“What’s odd is the juxtaposition of the word ‘fun’ in Nuremberg,” Malek mused during Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles panel Saturday alongside writer-director James Vanderbilt. The Bohemian Rhapsody Oscar winner described the whipsaw between the tension being generated on set and the actors’ joy of creating indelible characters and soaking in the lighter moments that added humanity to the story of prosecuting top Nazi officer Hermann Göring, played by Russell Crowe.

“There are moments where you’re laughing, and that’s what James has done so brilliantly in the script, that’s what drew me to it,” he said. “I love stories that take us back into history and allow us to retell the story that we think we know – and I promise you when you see this, if you haven’t, there’s so many surprises and twists and just a part of history that really will shock you.”

Malek said he and his fellow actors “were salivating as we were watching or taking part in it. And I know Michael [Shannon] and Russell just enjoyed every second of that to be able to go through these takes.”

The sense of place added to the gravitas of the story, Malek added. “We were shooting in Hungary, and at the end of each take there was a standing ovation,” he explained, noting that the locals “kept applauding because there’s so many links in that part of the world to what happened – very, very closely. And so you could feel that. You could feel the tension in that courtroom scene. It was palpable every day. You hold that with you and yeah, there’s something uniquely special about that.

“I just threw myself into the nature of what this guy was going through,” he added about his role as an Army psychiatrist tasked with evaluating Göring at a critical turning point in post-war world, matching wits with Nazis who had committed or ordered some of the most heinous atrocities in history.

RELATED: ‘Nuremberg’ Wows TIFF: Why It Took 13 Years To Stage The Post-WWII Trial And Tribulations Of Hitler Henchman Hermann Göring

“You have to come in there with a sense of charm and a sense of being as engaging and smart,” he said. “And I think being able to play that psychological chess match well enough to be in the room, pulling that off with all, not just [Göring], but 21 other Nazis as well. So there was a sense that I had to bring every level of humanity into that room — whether it was wit, charm, being able to be disarming, being able to be incredibly intelligent and being as powerful and having as much steeliness as I could at moments going toe-to-toe in that room.”

As he continues to add to his acting résumé, Malek also made it clear he wouldn’t be going backward in any sort of Mr. Robot reboot or spinoff with that 2015-19 series’ creator Sam Esmail. “No,” he affirmed definitively, though he said a collaboration on an unrelated project might arise. “Sam and I just talked about working together again, but that’s it.”

Death in the Family' Star Jason Clarke on Narcissist Role

Death in the Family’ Star Jason Clarke on Narcissist Role

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

How do you best tell a tragic story that everyone already seems to know? For “Murdaugh: Death in the Family” star and executive producer Jason Clarke, you have a little fun with it. Well, with an asterisk.

“I’ll give it to you straight up: it’s enjoyable being a narcissist,” Clarke said during a recent chat with IndieWire as part of our Pass the Remote panel series, presented in partnership with Disney, to celebrate the art and craft of TV. “It’s enjoyable being a good ol’ boy, you know what I mean? It’s good to be the king! There’s that whole side of it. Narcissism? I looked and thought about that a lot. A lack of empathy as well, ultimately. Which is where he truly ends up, with a lack of empathy. The man stands by his decision, I guess, in still not coming clean.”

Poker Face

In the miniseries, Clarke stars as convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh (complete with Southern accent and rusty red hair), infamous for killing his wife Maggie (Patricia Arquette) and son Paul (Johnny Berchtold) in 2021 following years of interfamily drama, trauma, and oops, yes, other mysterious deaths. For Clarke, tapping into Alex’s most basic (and base) desires was key to unlocking his character.

During the panel, hosted by IndieWire’s own Editor in Chief & Senior Vice President Dana Harris-Bridson, some of the limited series’ cast and crew joined Pass the Remote to talk about their meticulously researched show and what they hope viewers get out of it. Clarke was joined by co-creator and executive producer Erin Lee Carr; co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer Michael D. Fuller; hair department head Katie Ballard; casting director John Papsidera; and makeup department head Addison Foreman.

And while Clarke was joking a bit about enjoying the process, Clarke clearly relished tapping into whatever it is that makes Alex tick and applying it to his performance. He also credited Ballard and Foreman for assisting that transformation, not just through their own craft work, but by similarly diving head-long into a journey through “absurdity and vulgarity.” And Will Ferrell outtakes?

“There’s the mechanical way of going through that and processing it, and then there’s the subconscious way of just doing it,” Clarke said. “I’ll say, with Addison and Katie, we used to listen to what you could term narcissistic music and dance. … You have to stay happy! It’s not easy being a full-time narcissist, it’s a full-time job. Katie and Addison, who were in my space so much and were probably two of the only people I let into my space to see my absurdity and my vulgarity at times and my bad temper. … We’d do a lot of things, watch Will Ferrell to laugh, to get into, ‘fuckin’ the plums, just drippin’ down my chin!’ You have to have the big thing, to go out and just think, ‘Fuck it! I’m just concerned about me!’”

“Murdaugh: Death in the Family” is now streaming on Hulu, with new episodes rolling out through Wednesday, November 19, when the series finale will start streaming.

The IndieWire Pass the Remote Winter Edition, presented in partnership with Disney, will celebrate the art and craft of TV through a series of panels rolling out through early December 2025. Check back here for more.

New ‘Star Trek’ Movie in the Works From ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Duo

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the duo behind “Dungeons & Dragons” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” are enlisting in Starfleet. They’ve been hired to write, produce and direct a new “Star Trek” film that will seek to revitalize the franchise after it has languished for nearly a decade without a big screen adventure.

However, as Variety previously reported, the new film will not be a continuation of the J.J. Abrams-led reboot of the series and won’t feature Chris Pine or any of the actors from those movies (Pine starred in Goldstein and Daley’s “D&D” film). In fact, while plot details are being kept under wraps, this project is not connected to any previous or current television series, movie, or prior movie development projects. So you’re out of luck Jean-Luc Picard and Kathryn Janeway!

Since “Star Trek Beyond” opened in 2016, the road to mounting a new film in the franchise has been bumpier than a Klingon’s forehead. Chris Hemsworth almost returned as the (seemingly deceased) father of Capt. Kirk from 2009’s “Star Trek.” Quentin Tarantino almost directed a “Star Trek” movie set in a world of 1930s gangsters. Noah Hawley and Matt Shakman each got so close to directing a “Star Trek” movie that sets were being built, but neither project came to fruition.

In 2024, Variety reported that Steve Yockey (“The Flight Attendant”) was writing a draft for the “final chapter” “Trek” movie starring the cast led by Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldaña. And Toby Haynes (“Andor”) had been tapped to direct a “Star Trek” origin story written by Seth Grahame-Smith (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”). But now both projects appear to be stranded in deep space with life support failing.

Getting a new “Star Trek” out of dry-dock has been a priority for Paramount since David Ellison’s Skydance took control of the company in August, because the series is one of the most enduring properties in the studio’s library. Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are known to Ellison and company, having recently written, directed, and produced the Skydance film “Mayday” starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh, which they produced through their GoldDay banner. It will premiere on Apple TV+.

Daley and Goldstein previously helmed New Line’s comedy “Game Night,” and wrote and directed the studio’s “Vacation” reboot. The duo’s additional writing credits include “Horrible Bosses” and “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2.”

Goldstein and Daley are represented by CAA, Fourth Wall Management, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox.

The ceremony, which will take place on November 20, will immortalize his legacy among Hollywood’s most influential figures.

Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the award on his behalf, while filmmaker Ryan Coogler and Oscar-winning actor Viola Davis are set to speak at the event — both of whom shared powerful professional and personal bonds with Boseman.

Coogler directed Boseman in Black Panther (2018), the Marvel blockbuster that became a cultural phenomenon and earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide.

Davis co-starred alongside him in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2020), his final film performance, for which he received posthumous Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations.

Boseman, who tragically passed away on August 28, 2020, at just 43 after a private battle with colon cancer, left an indelible mark on film and culture.

His portrayal of King T’Challa in Black Panther turned him into a global symbol of heroism, pride, and representation — a legacy that continues to inspire millions.

As Hollywood gathers to unveil his star, the ceremony serves as both a tribute and a reminder that Boseman’s light — much like his art — remains eternal.

Here’s Why the BBC Banned ‘Star Trek’ … and Yvonne Craig

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

I was too young to watch Star Trek when it originally aired on NBC during the sixties. However, because the show experienced such a revival through the syndicated market, I got to know every single episode by heart through repeated viewings and by reading James Blish’s fantastic adaptations in those old Bantam paperbacks. The original version of Trek, with its groundbreaking stories and diverse cast, pushed boundaries in the 1960s. But across the pond, the BBC had different ideas about what was appropriate for audiences, primarily children, and banned several episode of the show.

Bollywood’s Secret Affair Detective: What A Star Wife Hired Her To Uncover

Bollywood’s Secret Affair Detective: What A Star Wife Hired Her To Uncover

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

In a sensational revelation this week, private investigator Tanya Puri disclosed that a Bollywood actress with two children hired her to investigate her husband’s secret affair. According to Puri, the actress suspected that “something was off” in her marriage and took the drastic step of hiring a detective to uncover the truth. What came out of the inquiry, she claims, exposed a web of deception that had been quietly stretching across years and careers.

Puri’s account describes a husband who had reportedly been maintaining multiple relationships with younger actresses whilst living a seemingly stable life with his wife and family. The wife, Puri said, had tolerated the situation for many years but admitted that the breaking point came when the behaviour started affecting their children. “Emotional cheating was the bigger deal,” the detective explained. “The kids were aware and it broke her heart to see them carry the burden of his choices.”

The investigation, according to Puri, revealed patterns of secret trips, unexplained transfers of money, and unexplained financial support to the other women involved. Amid daily shoots, promotions, and red-carpet appearances, the husband is said to have channelled earnings into a double life while maintaining a facade of normalcy at home. The detective refused to name the actor involved, but stated the case involved a high-profile figure from Bollywood who had been married for more than two decades and shared two children with his wife.

The story has thrust light back onto a persistent industry myth—that celebrity relationships are always perfect—and the pressures that come with maintaining that myth. In many cases, the public face of a star couple remains intact for years, while the personal fissures are ignored or managed privately until they can no longer be concealed.

For the wife who came forward, the ordeal marked a painful intersection of love, betrayal, public image and family responsibility. “She had known something was wrong for a long time,” Puri noted. “She gave him chances, she ignored, she explained. But once the children couldn’t stay quiet anymore, that is when she finally acted.”

The decision to hire a detective is itself notable in Bollywood. While the entire industry is known for curated public moments and image management, the use of private investigators underscores the hidden realities behind many seemingly perfect setups. The stakes are high not just for the couple but also for brands, producers, and the fanbase that sustains them.

What remains to be seen is how this revelation will ripple through the industry. Will the actor in question respond? Will the wife speak out further or demand change? For now, the detective’s account has opened the door to broader conversations about transparency, emotional honesty and the burden of public expectations on private lives.

Regardless of identity or outcome, the case sets a precedent. It signals that behind the glamor and press conferences, long-term relationships may carry deep unspoken fissures. It also challenges the notion that marriage in the spotlight is immune to betrayal, complicity or emotional disconnect. For fans watching, it invites a moment of reconsideration: the allure of celebrity is often built on selective visibility—and sometimes it hides real pain.

While we may never know all the details, what is clear is that this story taps into a larger cultural anxiety about authenticity in celebrity marriages. As Bollywood continues evolving—on-screen and off—stories like this remind us that the red-carpet smile doesn’t always equal peace. And sometimes the biggest revelation isn’t a headline, it’s the question we never asked.

Kriti Sanon Opened Up On Nepotism
Kriti Sanon Shared Her Opinion On Nepotism In Bollywood (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Kriti Sanon is one of the most promising actresses of Bollywood. With a career spanning over a decade and having progressed from being an outsider to winning a National Film Award, she has come a long way in the industry. She continues to win hearts with her powerful performances. Since the topic of nepotism is one of the most discussed in Bollywood, let’s revisit the time when Kriti Sanon shared her perspective on the issue. Read on to know more.

Kriti Sanon Shared Her Opinion On Nepotism

According to DNA, Kriti Sanon, speaking at a masterclass during the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024 in Goa, shared her opinion on nepotism. The actress said, “I feel the industry is not so much responsible for nepotism. It’s also the media and the audience. The audience wants to watch what the media is putting about certain star kids. Because the audience is interested in them, the industry feels that since the audience is interested, let’s make a movie with them. So, I think it’s a circle. But I feel that if you are talented, you will get there. If you’re not talented, and if the connection is not there with the audience, you will not get there.”

Kriti Sanon’s Journey As An Outsider

Talking about her journey as an outsider, Kriti shared, “The industry has given me a very warm welcome since the time I came. Of course, when you don’t have a film background, it takes time for you to get there. It takes time for you to get those opportunities you crave. It takes time for you even to get those magazine covers. So, everything is a bit of a struggle. But after 2-3 films, if you keep working hard, and if you are good at it, nothing can stop it.”

More About Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon started her acting career with the film Heropanti in 2014 opposite Tiger Shroff. She also won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her powerful performance in Mimi. On the work front, Kriti is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film, Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush, which is slated for release on November 28, 2025. Additionally, she has multiple projects in the pipeline, including Cocktail 2, Bhediya 2, and No Entry 2.

Bank Thiti To Star In Thai Heist Comedy ‘Esarn Seven’

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

EXCLUSIVE: Thai rising star ‘Bank’ Thiti Mahayotaruk (Hormones: The Series) will head the cast of action comedy Esarn Seven, produced by Bangkok-based production outfit TSixtySix in collaboration with Kliff Studios, 185 Films, True-CJ Creations and White Light Post.

TSixtySix is the Thai-language production arm of production services outfit Indochina Productions, which has serviced and co-produced global titles including The White Lotus: Season 3, The Creator, The Meg 2 and Extraction. Kliff Studios recently co-produced Cannes Critics Week winner A Useful Ghost.

Directed by Chantana Tiprachat (Nha Harn), Esarn Seven follows a down-on-his-luck filmmaker who returns to his hometown in Thailand’s northeast to reclaim his family’s stolen land from a corrupt local politician. To fulfil his mission, he assembles a motley crew of old friends, locals and misfits for a high-stakes heist set against the chaos and colour of the Bun Bang Fai rocket festival.

The film will be produced by TSixtySix’s Cod Satrusayang, Tri Kanchanadul, Siripas Yomchinda and Nicholas Simon, with Kliff Studios’ Tanat Tananivit, Kip Tiaviwat and Annie Yang serving as executive producers. Patchara Jiaravanon and Yaovarat Nirandara are also on board the project as executive producers.

“We wanted to highlight an overlooked part of Thailand for our next film and we found the perfect story,” said Cod Satrusayang, producer and head of TSixtySix. “It’s the kind of film that captures the spirit of modern Esarn – funny, defiant, and bursting with life – while offering international audiences a distinctly local story told with global craft.”

Indochina Productions founder Nicholas Simon said: “We are investing heavily in Thai content as we see its world class potential, especially with the wealth of young talent.”

The ensemble cast also includes Praew Chermawee Suwanpanuchoke (Dr Climax), Chatchai Chinsri (Call Me Daddy),  Thiti Srinual (The Undertaker) and Wisarut Himmarat (A Useful Ghost) as part of the heist crew, while Thai boxing legend Samart Payak-arun will play the role of the antagonist Governor Por.

Principal photography will begin later this year in Nakhon Ratchasima and Nong Khai, aiming for a Winter 2026 release.

Sabrina Carpenter To Star In ‘Alice in Wonderland’-Inspired Musical

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Sabrina Carpenter will return to her acting roots by starring and producing in an as-yet-untitled musical inspired by the Lewis Carroll classic Alice in Wonderland. The project will be released by Universal Pictures and both directed and adapted for film by Lorene Scafaria.

Carpenter has never been the top-billed star of a major movie, but spent three-plus years acting in the Disney Channel series Boy Meets World as a teenager and has also appeared in smaller roles in such films as The Hute U Give, Emergency, Tall Girl parts one and two and The Short History of the Long Road.

In September, she signed on to appear in a Muppet Show special helmed by Seth Rogen, which will come out sometime next year on Disney+. Fresh from directing several episodes of and serving as an executive producer on the HBO series I Love L.A., Scafaria will next direct the A24 comedy Jonty, starring Jesse Plemons.

Alice in Wonderland has long proved its mettle as box-office source material, most recently with an eponymous 2010 Tim Burton-directed film that grossed more than $1 billion around the world. A sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass, came out in 2016.

Carpenter is currently touring in support of her latest Island album, Man’s Best Friend, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in August and was just nominated for six top honors at the upcoming Grammy Awards.
