Tame Impala Preps Fifth Album ‘Deadbeat,’ Shares ‘Loser’ Single

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Kevin Parker is taking the Deadbeat route.

The celebrated psychedelic pop artist and production wizard is lining up his fifth Tame Impala album, Deadbeat, for a global release Oct. 17th — his first through the Sony Music machine.

Deadbeat is inspired by the “bush doof” culture of his native, Western Australia rave scene, and recasts his ongoing art project as “a kind of future primitive rave act in the process,” reads a statement.

The second taste from Deadbeat is “Loser,” a track that’s accompanied with a music video directed by Kristofski and starring Stranger Things‘ Joe Keery (aka Djo). It’s the followup to lengthy electronic banger “End of Summer,” which arrived, fully formed, in July of this year.

“Loser” is a departure from those parties in paddock, instead taking us on a magic carpet ride to a funky ‘70s houseparty. And no, it’s not a cover of Beck’s self-deprecating classic from 1994.

Parker “largely galvanized” the new album between his hometown of Fremantle and his studio, Wave House in Injidup, WA in the first half of this year.

Essentially a one-man band (though Parker takes a full unit on the road), Tame Impala has collected ARIA Awards, APRA Awards, a Brit Award, and earlier this year, a Grammy, by way of a collaboration with Justice.

Deadbeat arrives more than half a decade after The Slow Rush, from February 2020, a record that went to No. 1 on Australia’s ARIA Chart, and earned career peak positions on the Billboard 200 and Official U.K. Albums Chart UK, both at No. 3. Its predecessor, 2015’s Currents, topped the Australian chart and crashed the top 5 in the U.S. (at No. 4) and in the U.K. (No. 3), where Parker collected the Brit Award for best international group.

The forthcoming album “sounds like the work of an artist with a leveled-up mastery, crafted with a newfound embrace of spontaneity for the renowned perfectionist,” reads a statement. “How that manifests is a distinct minimalism and crunch, with timbres and textures that add an ineffably new dimension to the sound, as well as a richer, more playful vocal range than ever.”

The new collection is the first through Columbia Records, following a years-long relationship with Modular Recordings and Universal Music.

Although Tame Impala is not currently on tour, Parker will enjoy the southern summer when he takes the stage as a a special guest DJ for Justice’s Australian arena tour in December 2025.

Deadbeat is available for pre-order here, and exclusive vinyl color-variants can be ordered here.

Kneecap share hedonistic video for massive new Paul Hartnoll collab single ‘Sayōnara’ featuring Jamie-Lee O’Donnell from ‘Derry Girls’

Kneecap have shared a new music for their massive new Paul Hartnoll collab single ‘Sayōnara’ featuring Derry Girls star Jamie-Lee O’Donnell – check it out below.

  • READ MORE: Kneecap: giving peace, protest and partying a chance

The Irish-language rap trio have today (September 2) shared the stand-alone track, which is written and recorded in collaboration with Orbital‘s Paul Hartnoll.

The track will also be available as a double A-sided 12” alongside the Kemi Badenoch-baiting summer anthem, ‘The Recap‘ – which got its live debut at their incendiary  Glastonbury 2025 set, along with ‘Sayōnara’ – and the band said fans had been “going mad for” it in mosh pits all summer.

The green vinyl variant, which was made exclusively available to fans with the band’s WhatsApp group, has now sold out, but the black variant is available to pre-order here now, and will be released on October 10.

The video, directed by Finn Keenan, features an appearance from O’Donnell, who is best known for her role as Michelle in Derry Girls. She plays an exasperated desk worker on a comedown who escapes the drudgery of the office in a van emblazoned with “Free Mo Chara”.

Speaking about her appearance in the video, Lee O’Donnell said filming it was “the best time”.

“Not only is it a massive banger of a track but the intense yet euphoric video is sure to be remembered,” she said. “The creativity and vision of director, Finn, created a fantastic environment for us all to create something really special. I was delighted to have been asked to be involved in this project especially as I am already a huge fan of Kneecap’s music and an admirer of their work overall.”

Director Keenan added that the “intensity” of the video was intended to reflect the aftermath of a mad night out.

“Through conversations with the band, we also wanted to nod to Belfast’s rave history” he added. “In the ’90s, raves weren’t just parties — they were acts of resistance, dangerous but vital spaces where Catholics and Protestants could go to be together and dance.

“That spirit is what fuels the scene of Jamie Lee driving the pimped-up Kneecap Land Rover across the city — a kind of rave Pied Piper, spreading the idea that art, music, and creativity can break down the metaphorical walls which are often stronger than the physical ones. Pent up anger and frustration are released through dance instead of turning into hate.”

The new video arrives just after Kneecap played the main stage of Co Laois festival Electric Festival on Saturday (August 30). Their set was held just days after festival boss Melvin Benn confirmed there would be no censorship of their performance amid the intense scrutiny they’ve faced over their critique of Israel and vocal support of Palestine.

At the show, the band used their set to accuse the Irish government of being “complicit in genocide” over Israeli war bonds, and projected the message “They [Israel] are now starving the people of Gaza to death.”

Just before that gig, which saw “50,000 Fenians” sing back to the band in Irish, the group were forced to cancel their sold-out 2025 US headline tour. That update came shortly after Mo Chara’s terrorism case was adjourned until next month at his second court hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London last Wednesday (August 20).

The terrorism charges were levelled against him in May for allegedly displaying a Hezbollah flag on stage at a London show last November. The rapper is yet to enter a plea, but has denied any wrongdoing. Chara (real name Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh) first appeared in court in June, when he was released on unconditional bail.

Chara’s lawyers are seeking to throw out the case, arguing that the terror charge against him was brought outside the time limit. They claim that it was brought a day after the six-month limit for such charges. Prosecutors, however, say the charge was brought exactly within the required time limit.

Last year, Kneecap spoke to NME for their time on The Cover and shed light on the decision to rap in their native tongue. “There’s still a post-colonial hangover of colonisers telling us that our language is useless and that we’re not progressive,” Móglaí Bap said, while DJ Provaí added: “People have been told that for the last 100 years.”

They also discussed their “Brits Out” chant from their 2019 gig at Belfast’s Empire – the day after the Prince and Princess of Wales had stood on the very same stage. “If you’re from Ireland, you understand that it means nothing to do with citizens or people who identify as British,” Mo Chara said. “It’s a term used during The Troubles about getting the British government and British soldiers out of Ireland. That was it; it was a political thing.”

Wu Lyf pull latest single ‘A New Life Is Coming’ from Spotify over CEO’s “investment in AI weaponry”

Wu Lyf have removed their latest single ‘A New Life Is Coming’ from Spotify – find out more below.

READ MORE: Deftones’ Chino Moreno on longevity, creativity and making music that lives forever

In April, Wu Lyf released ‘A New Life Is Coming’, marking their first release in 13 years. Now, just five months later, the band have pulled the song from Spotify – and other streaming platforms. While the band haven’t addressed its removal from Apple Music and other platforms, they did confirm on social media that its removal from Spotify was largely due to Spotify CEO Daniel Ek’s investment in AI military drone tech.

Wu Lyf wrote on Instagram over the weekend: “A few months ago we pulled ‘Go Tell Fire to the Mountain’ from streaming services, clearing ground for a new life to take root. There were several conversations that led to this decision, circling around a disdain for what the Spotify algorithm & economics has done to music culture. Since then we’ve all learned about the Spotify CEO’s investment in A.I. weaponry and seen several bands we respect make statements about removing their music.”

“Now, following some lengthy debate we’ve decided to take ‘A New Life Is Coming’ down as well. Nothing ever changes unless we have the courage to try (& perhaps fail) to do things differently. Today on worldunite.org we’re sharing an early demo of ‘Letting Go’ for LYF members. This take was recorded shortly after the initial idea emerged out of some soul making blues, and though the song has evolved somewhat since then we think it captures something special…”

With the move, Wy Lyf join King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Xiu Xiu – who also recently  announced that they are in the process of removing their music from the platform over Ek’s “investment in AI war drones” – and Deerhoof, who pulled their catalogue from the streamer for the same reason, stating: “We don’t want our music killing people. We don’t want our success being tied to AI battle tech,” Deerhoof said in a statement.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard frontman Stu Mackenzie said: “We’ve been saying fuck Spotify for years. In our circle of musician friends, that’s what people say all the time, for all of these other reasons which are well documented.” He went on to explain that while he doesn’t “really consider myself an activist, and I don’t feel comfortable soapboxing,” the band “don’t really want our music to be here, at least right now”.

In recent years, people have been divided about streaming platforms and their impact on the music industry. In 2024, for example, Ek sparked backlash for his comments relating to the cost of “creating content”, with countless users and musicians describing him as “out of touch”.

Ek later walked back on his comments, explaining in an apology that he had no intention of dismissing the struggles faced by musicians and using the “reductive” label of “content”. The negative response to this was heightened as, around the same time, it was confirmed that Spotify had made profits of over €1billion (£860m), following staff being laid off and subscription prices rising.

The streaming platform also received criticism after it officially demonetised all songs on the platform with less than 1,000 streams – making it harder for artists to generate royalties from their music and restricting new artists looking to crack the music industry.

Lady Gaga Announces ‘The Dead Dance’ Single Release Date

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Lady Gaga has announced that her new song “The Dead Dance” will be released on September 3.

Variety broke the news earlier this month that the pop star was planning to drop the song slated to appear in the second season of the Tim Burton-helmed Netflix series “Wednesday.” Early last month, several outlets speculated that Gaga had been with Burton on the Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco, south of Mexico City, to film a music video for the track.

Gaga announced the release date, fittingly set for a Wednesday, on social media shortly after walking the carpet at Spotify and Netflix’s “Wednesday” Graveyard Gala in New York City tonight. She appeared alongside star Jenna Ortega and addressed the crowd to reveal news of the single.

“I had a wonderful time working on ‘Wednesday’ season two, even just being a small part of the show,” she said. “I loved working with Tim Burton and Jenna and everyone here, it’s so incredible. Thank you. I’m also here to confirm my song ‘The Dead Dance’ is coming.”

Gaga is yet to appear in “Wednesday,” as episodes roll out in batches. The first four episodes dropped on Aug. 6, sans Gaga, while the latter four will be released on the same day that “Dead Dance” impacts.

It makes sense that Gaga would be on hand for the “Wednesday” premiere as she just wrapped her fourth night at New York City’s Madison Square Garden last night. She’s in the throes of her “Mayhem Ball” tour, which kicked off in Las Vegas in July, and plans to head down to Miami before swinging back to NYC, Toronto and Chicago before heading overseas for the international leg of the trek.

Check out Oliver Sim’s playful new single ‘Obsession’

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Oliver Sim has shared a playful new single titled ‘Obsession’ – check it out below.

The brand new single marks the first from the artist in three years, following on from his debut solo album ‘Hideous Bastard’, which arrived back in 2022.

Where that album took a deep dive into themes of shame, fear, and masculinity, the latest single takes an alternate approach; harnessing more chic, irreverent, and playful qualities.

It was produced by Bullion and Taylor Skye, and recorded by Sim – who is one third of The xx – between London and Los Angeles. It was given a premiere on BBC 6Music by Nick Grimshaw this morning (August 27), while also saw Sim reveal how he wanted the song to tell a story of lust and infatuation.

Check it out below, along with a new music video directed by lauded photographer and filmmaker Sharna Osborne. The visuals star Sim alongside British fashion icon Erin O’Connor.

This is the first new music from Oliver Sim to not be produced by his longtime best friend, collaborator and bandmate Jamie xx.

That being said, the two are still on great terms and are currently underway with work on their long-anticipated fourth album. The two of them also reunited recently when Jamie xx took to the stage at the 2025 edition of LIDO Festival in London.

In his time outside of music, Sim has been working on the rebooted JW Anderson Resort lookbook – starring in the project alongside the likes of Saltburn actress Alison Oliver, director Luca Guadagnino, and actors Joe Alwyn and Ben Whishaw.

The last time all three members of The xx – Oliver Sim, Jamie xx, and Romy – teamed up was on Jamie’s 2024 single ‘Waited All Night’ from his album ‘In Waves’.

Previously speaking to NME on the red carpet at the 2024 BRIT Awards about The xx’s new music, Romy shared: “We’re just keeping it really open and we’re up for trying new things, but it sounds like us. That’s all I can say right now.

“We’ve learned a lot from our different solo projects and it’s cool to learn from each other again. We grew up together and we had a lot of experiences, but to then have time apart and learn new skills, get new musical ideas and experiences and compare them… it’s been a healthy break.”

Evan Ser's Debut Single is a Cinematic Ode to Sydney Sweeney

Evan Ser’s Debut Single is a Cinematic Ode to Sydney Sweeney

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Get ready for a track that’s as captivating as the silver screen itself. Rising music creator Evan Ser is making his official debut with the highly anticipated single, “My Muse I Can’t Defend,” set to drop on September 4th. This isn’t just another song, it’s a deeply personal and beautifully crafted piece of art, inspired by one of Hollywood’s most talked-about actresses, Sydney Sweeney.

What makes this song so unique is its origin story. Evan Ser, a new voice on the scene, wrote the track from a poignant and heartfelt perspective: that of a first-time film director. The lyrics tell the tale of a professional admiration that blossoms into a silent, unspoken affection for his lead actress. It’s a narrative of unexpressed feelings, a testament to the quiet boundaries we maintain in professional spaces, even when an undeniable connection exists. It’s the kind of story that feels ripped from a screenplay, and now, it has its own powerful soundtrack.

To bring this vision to life, Ser collaborated with the talented Racoon3Eyes, whose rich vocals add a layer of raw emotion and authenticity to the song. The fusion of Ser’s poetic lyricism and Racoon3Eyes’ soulful delivery creates an unforgettable listening experience that will resonate with anyone who has ever had a secret crush.

For Ser, this project is more than just a debut, it’s a dream. He hopes the song will travel across the world, connecting with listeners who understand the complexities of unspoken emotions. His ultimate goal? For the song to one day reach the ears of its inspiration, Sydney Sweeney, and maybe, just maybe, be turned into a full-blown cinematic music video with her as the star. It’s a bold vision, but given Sydney Sweeney’s track record of diverse collaborations, from major campaigns with American Eagle and Kérastase to her recent partnerships with Dr. Squatch, it’s clear she’s a star who appreciates creative and unexpected projects.

Don’t miss out on this poetic and heartfelt debut. Be one of the first to hear the story unfold by pre-saving “My Muse I Can’t Defend” on Spotify right now. The countdown is on until the official release on September 4th.

Cancer survivor shares why he never eats breakfast: ‘I’ve done intermittent fasting every single day for over 15 years’ | Health

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of eating and voluntary fasting, focusing on when you eat rather than what you eat. It can offer health benefits including improved insulin sensitivity, reduced inflammation, and potential protection against certain metabolic diseases, while also supporting weight management.

Cancer survivor reveals why he chose to skip breakfast for over 15 years, after cancer diagnosis.(Pexel)

Women’s health coach Dilan, who is a 10 year cancer survivor shared why he chose to follow intermittent fasting every single day for over 15 years – and it is not in order to lose weight or internet trends. He explains that it was a way of giving his body the rest it desperately needed. In an Instagram post from July 29, the health coach revealed how not eating breakfast helped his cancer journey.

Also Read | 25 year old with stage 4 cancer shares why he never eats 3 hours before sleep: ‘Your body needs rest, not digestion’

A wake-up call after cancer

Dilan rejects the common belief that constant snacking or eating every 3 hours boosts metabolism, saying: “Because I learned (the hard way) what happens when the body never gets a break.” He further explained, “When you’re constantly feeding, your body is constantly digesting.”

His journey into fasting was not by choice – a cancer diagnosis forced him to reevaluate everything about his lifestyle, including food, stress and sleep. Reassessing his lifestyle choices made him realize that the body needs time to heal, which only happens when you stop interrupting it. Constantly ingesting food gets the body stuck in digestion mode, never getting the opportunity to repair.

What happens during fasting?

Dilan explains, “When you fast, even just for part of the day, something powerful kicks in. It’s called autophagy.” Autophagy is the body’s fundamental process for self-degradation, where cells break down and recycle their own damaged or unnecessary components. Dubbing it as ‘your cells literally start cleaning house’, the fitness coach further elaborated that when damaged cells are eliminated, inflammation drops and hormonal balance is restored, and the body gets a break.

Constant eating can backfire

Most people start consuming food the moment they wake up and keep eating until they go to bed, which according to Dilan, leaves little room for cellular repair, contributing to fatigue and inflammation. “You don’t need to fear hunger,” he stresses, “You need to fear what happens when your body never gets the chance to rest.”

For him, intermittent fasting is not a quick fix or a trendy diet – it is a sustainable way of life built on respect for his body and its potential to heal. After surviving cancer, fasting became his tool for balance, resilience, and long-term health.

Shopping Break Up, Share Video for Final Single “White Noise”: Watch

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Shopping have broken up. The UK post-punk trio hadn’t put out an album since 2020’s All or Nothing, but confirmed the news on Instagram last week. “After 13 years, Shopping is taking our last spin through the aisles,” the band wrote in a post on Friday, August 15. Today, they’ve also shared the new song “White Noise,” billed as their final single, with an accompanying video. Watch it below.

Formed in London, England in 2012, Shopping drew heavily from the classic post-punk of Mo-Dettes, Gang of Four, and Delta 5. The trio of guitarist Ray Aggs, bassist Billy Easter, and drummer Andrew Milk—all former members of the band Covergirl—first gained notoriety when their 2013 debut album, Consumer Complaints, was reissued by FatCat Records in 2015.

Though they repeatedly insisted that they were more interested in making people dance than offering political commentary, Shopping became known for their portrayals of queer alienation under capitalism. They shared the album Why Choose in 2015 and, in 2018, released The Official Body, which boasted a fuller sound and helped the band to reach international touring act status. Pitchfork named both The Official Body and All or Nothing as among the best rock albums of their respective years.

“This song and video are full of incredible memories, all made possible by the love and support of our fans,” Shopping wrote of “White Noise” on Instagram. “You’ve taken us far and wide on so many adventures, and we’re truly thankful for every single moment. It’s bittersweet, but mostly we feel grateful for you, our community, and for all the joy and noise we’ve made together. See you tomorrow 🫶”
