Singer Banks Wore a “Sexy and Romantic” Lace Vivienne Westwood Dress to Wed Lacrosse Star Drew Snider

To allow her dresses to do the talking, Banks kept her accessories minimal, opting for shoes by Jimmy Choo and wearing her engagement jewelry, plus a bracelet borrowed from her sister. She took a similar approach to her beauty look for the ceremony, with her make-up artist Charlie Riddle focusing on a luminous complexion, with softly lined eyes and rose-hued lips for a romantic feel. Meanwhile, her hairstylist Philipp Verheyen had the brief of “Jillian meets Banks,” so that the bride looked both like herself and her musical alter-ego, with a little bit of goth thrown in for good measure. He emphasized her face with an elegant bun, tied with white lace matching her dress, pulling the whole look together.

The couple took a unique approach to their wedding weekend by having a small, intimate ceremony in a secret wildflower garden near their Seattle home on the Friday, saving the party for the following night. “We did our vows in private before the ceremony,” shares Banks. “It was such a special moment, and I’m glad we kept it to just us.”

After their vows, the couple joined their family for the official ceremony, with Banks’s niece acting as flower girl and her father walking her down the aisle to “Baby” by Donnie and Joe Emerson. The ceremony was officiated by Banks’s dear friend Alison Crowley, who she credits with doing a great job at bringing the couple’s love story to life. And despite it being sunny for a month straight prior to the wedding day, it of course rained. “But actually, it made it more beautiful and cinematic,” she laughs. Afterwards, guests headed to Carmines, one of the couple’s favorite Italian restaurants nearby. “Our dads gave speeches and we ate our favorite dishes,” she remembers. “Then my aunt threw us a welcome party at a swanky bar nearby, Black Bottle, and I changed into an amazing Grace Loves Lace beaded minidress to start the real celebrations.”

After a morning spent doing puppy yoga (“honestly, my favourite part of the whole wedding!” she jokes), 200 of the couple’s friends and family gathered on Saturday evening for a party at The Nest at the Thomson Hotel. “We took over the entire top floor, where the Seattle skyline wrapped around us 360 degrees,” explains Banks. Following the simplicity and romance of the ceremony the previous day, this was an opportunity for the couple to let their hair down, with the popstar opting for a show-stopping asymmetrical Versace party dress (“again, the first thing I saw online!”) and a fun make-up look inspired by the 1960s. “I had so much fun with my glam that night,” the singer shares. “We did a ’60s updo with a very Cleopatra-esque eye. It was one of my favorite looks I’ve ever worn.” There was no official schedule or entertainment, just one of Drew’s friends hopping on the decks. “I know so many DJs, but I love that it was one of my husband’s childhood friends who ended up doing the music,” she laughs.

Just over a week later, Banks has the following advice to anyone planning their own wedding. “I think it’s important to do your wedding your own way,” she says. “The pressure to follow the classic traditions is less important than feeling like you are being honored in how you celebrate. I’m so happy we did it in a way that reflected our unique personalities and taste.”

GURU RANDHAWA’S FUTURE IN JEOPARDY?” – Singer Faces Severe Criticism Over Azul Music Video, Could It Impact His Career? | Glamsham.com

Guru Randhawa’s new song Azul has gone viral within no time, but not for all the good reasons. The music video where Randhawa is a photographer who goes to an all-girls school to take a class photo has come under immense flak for s*xualizing schoolgirls and depicting them in a derogatory way.

Representing Schoolgirls and Alcohol Metaphors
The clip starts by announcing it’s “highly addictive.” But audiences were stunned to see Randhawa not only sexualising school-going girls (played by adult women) but even comparing them with different types and brands of alcohol. The singer makes at least 15 references to alcohol throughout the song, employing them as metaphors to describe women’s looks, aura, and personality. Critics are of the opinion that such comparisons are tone-deaf and insensitive, particularly in 2025, when women’s representation discourse is more prevalent than ever.

Public Outrage and Criticism
The track has also triggered outrage on social media platforms, with numerous women condemning Randhawa for peddling a “pornographic fetishisation” of children. According to them, while the roles are played by adults, the school environment validates a sick message that normalises harassment and objectification of teenage girls. Some netizens criticized the video for celebrating improper fantasies in the name of music and entertainment.

Silence from the Singer
With the backlash on the rise, Randhawa has not yet released a statement. Still, he has already disabled comments on his Instagram posts, which shows him being cognizant of the controversy. This only ignited more debate, as fans and critics alike wait to hear if the singer responds to the criticism.

Cultural Context
Though Punjabi music has had a tradition of comparing women to booze, Randhawa’s Azul is in the dock for overstepping. The mix of school references and drunken analogies has seemed to many as socially irresponsible and has brought the singer into the spotlight.

Music Review: Irish pop singer CMAT’s ‘Euro-Country,’ is smart, energetic, cheeky pop

Seven years ago, Irish singer CMAT received life-changing advice from a fellow rising pop star. Charli xcx urged her to dump her boyfriend and take making music seriously. It turns out that Charli knows best. “Euro-Country,” CMAT’s third studio album, is her strongest to date, an emotive collection of energetic, cheeky pop songs.

Music Review: Irish pop singer CMAT’s ‘Euro-Country,’ is smart, energetic, cheeky pop

On her previous albums, like 2023’s BRIT Award nominated “Crazymad, for Me,” CMAT mined relationships for big-hearted and humor-filled songs pulling from country-pop rhythms and retro ’70s grooves. On “Euro-Country,” she’s sharpened her tools, becoming both more personal and political in the process.

CMAT opens the title track by singing in Irish. The song, atop swelling synths, traces periods of economic incline and depression in Ireland. “I never understood what this way of living could to do me/All the mooching ’round shops, and the lack of identity,” she opines about the change in culture.

The song reflects the rest of the album: “Euro-Country” is a mix of catchy pop with depth. These are danceable songs written from the frustrated, introspective viewpoint of someone stuck watching daytime dramas in their hometown , or as a sharp mediation on the loss of a close friend . There’s also grief for girlhood or for body shaming , or, of course, for her country

In an album with many enjoyable moments, a highlight is the uptempo alt-rock swagger of “Jamie Oliver’s Petrol Station.” Lyrically, the song tackles everyday life in Ireland by using Oliver, one of the U.K.’s most ubiquitous celebrity chefs, as a symbol for disillusionment with capitalism. Ambitious, but it works: “It’s the fear of not getting the dole and the joy of then chopping it up with the card that you draw it on,” she sings. “Coming through town and then seeing the type of the people you missed who’d have died back in Dublin.”

The song also highlights CMAT’s talent for funny pop culture lyrical references. “OK, don’t be a /The man’s got kids,” she sings, referencing Oliver. “And they wouldn’t like this.”

In the hypercompetitive musical climate of 2025, it is hard to stand apart from the crowd. But on “Euro-Country,” CMAT has furthered her individual vision and style. Now it’s up to the rest of the world to get on board.

India.Arie Talks Being Overlooked, Kehlani Gives Singer Her Flowers

India.Arie is one of the most influential vocalists of the 21st century, and yet her legacy is often overlooked. With Kehlani acknowledging the Grammy-winner in a recent interview — where her name went unspoken among her contemporaries — the musician took to Instagram to share her thoughts on being skipped over when it comes to conversations surrounding R&B.

During a discussion on the most important figures in Neo-Soul, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and Lauryn Hill were mentioned as the top three by host Nyla Symone before Kehlani was sure to add India.Arie’s name to the Mt. Rushmore convo.

“Yeah, but then you have to add the fourth, and that’s India.Arie,” the “Folded” singer began. “Why do people leave her out of that four? Because we always go, ‘Jill, Lauryn, Erykah,’ but then we forget India.”

India.Arie reposted the interview along with a thank you to the Oakland-native and an open invite to collaborate on a future song, resulting in Kehlani swooning over one of her biggest inspirations within her comment section.

“I love you! i adore you! you have given so much! you gave us confidence, grace, real love, blueprints on walking with God… so much! I WILL GIVE U FLOWERS TILL THE DAY IM GONE I AM SO GRATEFUL I GOT TO GROW UP TO YOUR ART [10 flower emojis] THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU’VE GIVEN!!!!”

The “Steady Love” singer went on to explore being overlooked within the industry in a series of Instagram Stories she later shared to her main page. She began by addressing journalist Touré’s recent YouTube upload dissecting the history of Neo-Soul, with India noting, “he never once mentioned my name.” She proposed that it could be because her music didn’t fit his exact definition of the genre, but it was the closest term she could use to describe her sound from a marketing perspective.

She also noted that her debut album, 2001’s Acoustic Soul, spawned a sub-genre and Spotify playlists that she’s not even on. “BUT I DO HEAR MY DNA ALL UP IN THRU THERE. I KNOW MY CHILDREN WHEN I HEAR EM,” she wrote of her musical offspring.

The songwriter went on to say that the “old familiar pain” of being overlooked “just isn’t there” anymore, adding that she’s fully aware of her accomplishments and influence, even if others aren’t.
