Ariana Grande – Man Who Grabbed Singer on ‘Wicked: For Good’ Carpet Is Charged With “Public Nuisance” in Singapore

Singapore officials have charged the man who jumped a barricade and grabbed Ariana Grande during the “Wicked: For Good” red carpet event on Thursday. The incident, captured in multiple viral clips, shows 26-year-old Australian citizen Johnson Wen rushing toward the star, attempting to embrace her, and putting his arm around her. Grande appears stunned as her co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly intervenes, pulling Wen away with visible anger.

Wen — who posts on Instagram as @pyjamamann — was briefly detained following the confrontation. He later shared a message online saying, “@arianagrande @wickedmovie Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You.”

Authorities are treating the matter seriously. According to local court documents released Friday, Wen has been charged with “being a public nuisance.” If convicted, he faces up to three months in prison and a fine of as much as S$2,000 (approximately $1,540 USD). He is expected to return to court on Monday.

Wen has a history of similar disruptions. Videos on his Instagram account show him invading a Katy Perry show, a The Chainmakers concert, and several sporting events — including the 2023 FIFA World Cup Final — among many others.

The incident has sparked broad criticism, particularly given Grande’s past discussions about experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder following the May 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, which killed 22 people and injured hundreds.

Living In A Box singer Richard Darbyshire dies aged 65 as former bandmates pay tribute

by jummy84 November 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Richard Darbyshire, the former vocalist of 1980s pop trio Living In A Box, has died aged 65.

Darbyshire joined the group in 1985 after visiting the same Sheffield recording studio as his future bandmates, Anthony ‘Tich’ Critchlow and Marcus Vere. They were recording the song of the same name, which became one of their biggest hits, and invited him to record the vocals – they then officially became a trio.

His family confirmed to the BBC that he died on Monday (November 10), and said, “We are all very sad but his memory and songs will live on.”

His former bandmates also paid tribute to the “incredible talent,” calling him a “pure craftsman and a master of his art.” They said: “Richard, wherever you are, Tich and I will miss you dearly. The laughs we had, the wildcat ride we went on, will never be forgotten.”

No cause of death has been given.

Darbyshire was born on March 8, 1960 in Stockport, growing up in Manchester. When he was 13, he moved to Japan with his parents and attended an American boarding school.

Before joining Living In A Box, he studied English Literature at Oxford University and was in the Manchester band Zu Zu Sharks alongside Adam And The Ants bassist Gary Tibbs.

Two years after joining Living In A Box in 1985, they released the song of the same name as their debut single and it peaked at Number Five in the UK, also becoming their only single to break into the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. Their debut album, also ‘Living In A Box’, got to Number 25 in the UK.

‘Room In Your Heart’, from their second album ‘Gatecrashing’, also got to Number Five in the UK charts, and he said in 2014 that he was proud of the track because it gave him a rare opportunity to play guitar. Another single from the album, ‘Blow The House Down’, featured guitar from Queen’s Sir Brian May.

Darbyshire left the band in 1989 due to artistic differences and changes to their record label, and they broke up in 1990 before reforming in 2016 with another singer, Kenny Thomas. In 2022, they announced another new vocalist, Bryan Chambers.

Darbyshire, meanwhile, embarked on a solo career and released his debut solo album, ‘How Many Angels’, in 1994. He’s also written songs for artists including Lisa Stansfield, Jennifer Rush and Level 42, and had been holding songwriting workshops in London before his death.

He is survived by his wife, the vocal coach Sonia Jones.

Following her performance in the semifinals, Fernández took to Instagram to write, “Metal has been a fundamental part of who I am as a person and in my life: a refuge, a source of strength and purpose. Being able to express it on stage at Chilevision and Miss Mundo Chile was an opportunity I deeply value. After winning the entire competition on Sunday, Fernández shared an official photo of her as Miss World Chile 2025 on Instagram, and wrote, “I couldn’t be happier or more grateful! Donna Jean Godchaux, former singer with the Grateful Dead, dies aged 78

by jummy84 November 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Donna Jean Godchaux, who sang with the Grateful Dead throughout the 1970s, has died at the age of 78.

The news was confirmed in a statement shared with Rolling Stone by her representative Dennis McNally, who said that she passed away on Sunday (November 2) at a hospice facility in Nashville after a “lengthy struggle with cancer”.

“She was a sweet and warmly beautiful spirit, and all those who knew her are united in loss,” McNally added. “The family requests privacy at this time of grieving. In the words of Dead lyricist Robert Hunter, ‘May the four winds blow her safely home.’”

Godchaux joined the Dead in 1971 at the same time as her husband Keith, who played keyboards in the band. She sang on a string of seminal records by the psychedelic giants, including ‘Europe ‘72’, ‘Wake Of The Flood’ and ‘Terrapin Station’, as well as many of the band’s famous bootleg live recordings.

Before that, she had a successful career as a session singer at the legendary Muscle Shoals Studios in Alabama and elsewhere, singing backing vocals on huge hits such as ‘Suspicious Minds’ and ‘In The Ghetto’ by Elvis Presley and ‘When A Man Loves A Woman’ by Percy Sledge. She also worked with Cher, Neil Diamond, Duane Allman and Boz Scaggs during that late-’60s period.

In addition to their work with the Grateful Dead, Donna and Keith Godchaux released the album ‘Keith & Donna’ in 1975, which featured contributions from Dead frontman Jerry Garcia.

They left the band in 1979 and formed the Heart Of Gold Band, but that project came to an end with the sudden death of Keith the following year.

Godchaux continued to create new music, forming the Donna Jean Godchaux Band and Donna Jean And The Tricksters in the ‘80s, before starting a solo career in 1998 with a self-titled record. Her final album ‘Back Around’ was recorded with the Donna Jean Godchaux Band alongside Jeff Mattson and was released in 2014.

Her death follows the passing of founding Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh last October at the age of 84. In August, Dead And Company – made up of band alumni Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, alongside others – played three sold-out nights in San Francisco to mark the Dead’s 60th anniversary.

Grateful Dead singer Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay has died aged 78.

Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay has passed away at the age of 78

The singer – who spent seven years in the legendary rock band as well as performing on chart-topping hits for both Elvis Presley and Percy Sledge – passed away on Sunday (02.11.25) at a hospice in Nashville “after a lengthy struggle with cancer”.

A statement from Godchaux-MacKay’s representative read: “She was a sweet and warmly beautiful spirit, and all those who knew her are united in loss.

“The family requests privacy at this time of grieving. In the words of Dead lyricist Robert Hunter, ‘May the four winds blow her safely home.'”

Born in Alabama, Donna began her career as a session singer and performed backing vocals on the No.1 hits When a Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sledge and Elvis Presley’s Suspicious Minds – as well as on records by Cher, Neil Diamond and Dionne Warwick.

She recalled to AL.com in 2016: “I was singing from pretty much as soon as I could talk. I remember very distinctly when I was six years old, I knew I was going to be a singer and I would sit out on my back porch and sing to the top of my lungs every day.”

She then moved to California and married keyboard player Keith Godchaux, with the pair going on the join the Grateful Dead together.

Donna remained in the band – fronted by the late Jerry Garcia – for seven years and contributed to six albums, including Wake of the Flood and From the Mars Hotel.

She said of playing with the Grateful Dead: “It was great fun. I loved singing with those guys and we had an absolute blast.”

Donna and Keith decided to leave the group in 1979 and formed the Heart of Gold Band the following year, although it was tragically short-lived as Keith passed away at the age of 32 following a car accident in California.

The singer then married bassist David MacKay – a member of the band Fiddleworms – in 1981 and the pair played together in her own Donna Jean Godchaux Band.

Godchaux-MacKay was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 as a member of the Grateful Dead.

Donna is survived by her husband David and their son Kinsman, as well as her son Zion ‘Rock’ Godchaux from her first marriage.

Poison Baby singer Jasmine Sandlas: ‘A woman can be sexy and powerful as long as she’s in control’

by jummy84 October 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Singer-songwriter Jasmine Sandlas has spent over a decade shaping her own path in the music industry. Between her upcoming Bollywood track, Poison Baby in Thamma, her collaboration with Hanumankind for the title track of the upcoming film Dhurandhar, and her latest album Illegal Robbery, her work, she insists, is always purposeful. “Every song I create has to have a purpose behind it — whether it makes people dance, heal, or feel powerful,” she says.

Jasmine Sandlas has sung Poison Baby

The 40-year-old is aware of the scrutiny the Punjabi music industry often faces for its portrayal of women. However, she sees empowerment as agency. “A woman can be sexy and powerful as long as she’s in control. If she’s dancing to her own rhythm, expressing herself freely, that’s empowerment — not objectification,” she says, adding that her recent song, an item number in Thamma, is an example where choice and expression are central.

Her collaboration in Dhurandhar combines classic Punjabi sounds with contemporary energy, reflecting the balance between tradition and modernity, and reinforcing her belief that women can be multifaceted in expression.

“The director loved the classic and wanted to glorify it, but also needed something fresh. So I wrote parts in Hindi, then Punjabi, and kept adjusting until it felt right,” she says. The collaboration with Hanumankind was “a last-minute blessing,” she adds, describing it as “epic, amazing, and everyone is in love with the sound.”

This period also marks what Jasmine calls a “rebirth” in her career. Having written more than 130 songs and released four albums, she says she used to overthink everything. “Now, I want to think less and do more. I’m following intuition, trying new things, dancing more, taking creative risks,” she concludes.

However, with over ten million monthly listeners on music streaming platforms, Jasmine recognises the responsibility that comes with her platform, especially towards her female fans. “I know how deeply my songs resonate with women. They tell me how important it is to hear music that empowers them — and that keeps me grounded,” she concludes.

‘Didn’t Expect This’: Diljit Dosanjh Faces Backlash For ‘Cheap’ ‘Kufar’ Moves; Singer Responds

by jummy84 October 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Diljit Dosanjh, the global music icon and beloved actor, has found himself at the center of an unexpected controversy. Fresh off the monumental success of his album Ghost, the artist is facing a wave of sharp criticism for his latest music video, “Kufar,” which co-stars former Miss World, Manushi Chhillar. While the song is climbing the charts, a significant portion of his fanbase has taken to social media to “troll” the star, labeling the video’s dance steps as “vulgar,” “cheap,” and “obscene.”

The song, a standout track from the Ghost album, dropped recently and immediately garnered massive attention, not only for its catchy tune but also for the sizzling chemistry between Dosanjh and Chhillar. The video features the two in a stylish, intimate setting, engaging in choreography that is a departure from Diljit’s more conservative public persona. Almost immediately, the comment sections on YouTube and Instagram became a battleground, splitting his audience into two distinct camps.

On one side, thousands of fans are celebrating the song, praising its international “vibe” and addictive quality. Comments like, “Song on loop,” “What a vibe,” and “Their chemistry is just wow,” flooded the release. Manushi Chhillar’s glamorous appearance also received widespread appreciation. For this segment of the audience, “Kufar” is another successful experiment from an artist who is fearlessly blending his Punjabi roots with global music trends, similar to his acclaimed performances at Coachella.

However, a vocal and seemingly betrayed segment of his audience has expressed profound disappointment. These viewers, many of whom have followed Diljit since his early days, feel the video’s intimate choreography crosses a line. The backlash is pointed, with users deploying strong language to voice their disapproval. “This is too vulgar,” one user commented, while another stated, “Very cheap… so much vulgarity.”

The criticism appears to stem from a perceived clash with the “humble” and “decent” image that Diljit Dosanjh has carefully cultivated over the years. Fans felt the video was a step too far, with one writing, “Diljit paaji, didn’t expect this from you.” Another user lamented what they see as a decline in his content quality, commenting, “He’s lost his mind… He used to be so humble…” This sentiment suggests a feeling of betrayal, as if their idol has “sold out” his wholesome image for mainstream, edgy success.

This controversy highlights the precarious tightrope Diljit Dosanjh walks. As his stardom has exploded internationally, his artistic expression has evolved. Yet, his core fanbase, which fell in love with his down-to-earth personality and more traditional portrayals, expects a certain code of conduct. The “Kufar” video seems to have directly challenged those expectations.

The timing of the video’s release is also significant. Dosanjh and Chhillar are set to star opposite each other in the highly anticipated upcoming Punjabi film, Jatt & Juliet 3. The “Kufar” video was likely intended to build hype and showcase their on-screen chemistry ahead of the film’s release. While it has certainly generated buzz, it has also sparked a debate about the star’s evolving brand.

As Diljit Dosanjh continues to conquer new global arenas, from The Tonight Show to mainstream Bollywood, “Kufar” serves as a stark reminder of the cultural and personal expectations tied to his fame. The song is undeniably a musical hit, but the debate it has ignited proves that for his fans, Diljit is more than just a musician — he’s a cultural icon, and they are holding him accountable for the image he projects.

Liam Payne, the English singer and former One Direction star, tragically died at the age of 31, multiple outlets confirmed on October 16, 2024. His sudden death in Buenos Aires sent shockwaves through the music world and among devoted fans who had followed his journey since The X Factor. Payne, who had been staying at the CasaSur Hotel in Palermo, reportedly fell from a third-floor balcony, and authorities later confirmed that he died from multiple traumatic injuries.

Beyond his global fame, Payne was also a devoted father to his now 8-year-old son, Bear Grey Payne, whom he shared with his ex, Cheryl Cole. His passing left the music industry and his devoted fanbase reeling, as many remembered him not only for his voice and stage presence but also for his warmth and humor. Here’s what’s known about Payne’s cause of death and the events surrounding his final days.

How Did Liam Payne Die?

According to multiple outlets, local authorities in Buenos Aires, Argentina, responded to an emergency call, and Payne was found dead after having fallen from his hotel’s third-floor room. Reuters reported that police in the Palermo neighborhood were called in response to an “aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol.” The outlet also reported that emergency responders found Payne dead in the hotel’s interior patio.

Buenos Aires emergency services chief Alberto Crescenti explained how responders tried to resuscitate Liam and pointed out that he had a “cranial fracture” after he fell, according to La Nacion.

“Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life,” Crescenti said. “Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death. The team could do absolutely nothing. There was no resuscitation because it was confirmed that he had died. The whole body had very serious injuries.”

In January 2025, Liam’s cause of death was revealed to be from polytrauma, according to multiple outlets. Polytrauma refers to multiple traumatic injuries in a person’s body.

According to a press release from the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office on February 25, 2025, Liam’s blood alcohol level (BAC) was 0.27 percent at the time of his death. Per E! News, his level was “three times” the legal driving limit in the United States, which is 0.08 percent.

Payne was seemingly in Argentina to attend his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan‘s concert in Argentina. The late “Strip That Down” artist was seen dancing the famous “Macarena” with fans at the show. Videos of the moment circulated on social media, in addition to another TikTok clip of him sweetly greeting fans from a box suite at the concert venue.

Was One Direction Going to Reunite?

Payne and his former band members, Niall, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, have expressed an interest in a potential One Direction reunion.

During a 2020 interview with PEOPLE, Payne pointed out that he couldn’t “promise” anything but was still “hopeful” that One Direction would get back together someday.

“I can’t promise any reunion plans because it just isn’t it right now,” the “Teardrops” singer told the publication. “I always put it down to music language because everyone’s releasing at the moment with, like, two years worth of promo. But, you know, it still seems very hopeful in that department. I’m starting to think it’s gonna happen at some point. So, it’s exciting.”

Payne also discussed how he had reconnected with Harry, Niall, Zayn and Louis during the COVID-19 lockdown. During his interview, the U.K. native noted that they all “hadn’t spoken for a while.”

“It’s been nice to open up the channels of communication again because we hadn’t spoken for a while,” Payne began, before adding, “And I think we all needed that after spending so much time together — just to figure out our own selves as people because we all know what we are in the band. … And it’s just nice to see everyone turned out to be nice people, you know?”
