The family of a missing 15-year-old girl, whose body was found last week in the trunk of an impounded Tesla registered to singer D4vd, has broken their silence.

The body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez was found “severely decomposed” stuffed inside a bag in the trunk of the Tesla registered in Hempstead, Texas, to D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, earlier this month.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is currently investigating the incident as a homicide.

This week, a GoFundMe page was created by a person representing Rivas’ family, seeking donations to “lay her body to rest” following the confirmation from the Los Angeles County medical examiner that the body found was Rivas, who had been missing since April of last year.

“As many of you know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week. She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend,” the statement from the Rivas family read. “Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss.”

The LAPD said several pieces of evidence were recovered from the home and will be analyzed. Authorities also said that investigators were following up on leads.

Burke’s Tesla was originally impounded after it had been parked on a Hollywood Hills street for more than 72 hours. A neighbour told CBS News that the Tesla had been abandoned for weeks.

“It just smelled like sewage,” the Hollywood resident told the outlet. “I think the community knew something was wrong and reported the car being abandoned.”

Burke, 20, was on the North American leg of his international tour at the time of the body’s discovery.

“D4vd has been informed about what’s happened. And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities,” a rep for the singer said in a statement.

Burke has since cancelled the remaining dates of his U.S. tour amid the investigation into the body found in the car registered to him.

The remaining dates on the singer’s U.S. tour were “quietly removed” from venue websites on Thursday, according to Variety. Tour dates for the international leg of Burke’s tour currently remain.

D4vd made headlines in September 2025 after a body was found in the trunk of his Tesla. The vehicle is registered to the 20-year-old singer (whose real name is David Anthony Burke), and it had been towed in Los Angeles before police identified the human remains as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas. The late teenager had been missing since 2024.

Below, we’ve compiled everything we know so far about Rivas and how D4vd is cooperating with the Los Angeles Police Department’s investigation.

Who Was Celeste Rivas?

Rivas was a 15-year-old girl who went missing before she was found dead on September 8, 2025, by the LAPD. She was from Lake Elsinore, California, and went missing when she was 13 years old.

Initially, authorities could not identify the ethnicity nor age of the deceased.

How Long Was Celeste Rivas Missing?

Rivas went missing in April 2024. Since then, she hadn’t been seen until her remains were discovered in the trunk of D4vd’s car.

How Did Celeste Rivas Die? What We Know About Her Death

At the time of publication, it’s unclear how Rivas died. The LAPD released a statement to NBC News, pointing out that it “does not have a crime classification from the coroner as to the mode or manner of death. Thus, we do not have any suspect information at this time.”

How & Where Celeste Rivas Was Found

Rivas was found dead in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla on September 8, 2025. The vehicle had been taken to a tow yard in L.A. The Tesla had been abandoned locally for five days, according to several outlets, though it’s still unclear where exactly the car was left before it was towed.

Police were called to check the car after a foul odor was detected.

How Celeste Rivas Is Connected to D4vd

As of now, there is no definitive connection between Rivas’ death and D4vd. Multiple outlets reported that the music artist was cooperating with authorities, and he had canceled one of his scheduled shows.

However, Rivas and D4vd had identical tattoos on their right index fingers that read, “Shhh,” according to multiple outlets. Additionally, Rivas’ mother told TMZ that her late daughter had a boyfriend named David before she disappeared in 2024. As previously mentioned, D4vd’s real name is David.

d4vd — born David Anthony Burke — quickly rose from uploading songs in his sister’s closet to becoming one of music’s fastest-rising stars with viral hits like “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me.” By 2025, the Houston-raised artist had dropped his debut album, toured internationally, and built a devoted fan base. But his career has also faced turbulence this year after shocking headlines linked his name to a police investigation, putting his future under scrutiny.

Learn more about him and his net worth below.

Who Is d4vd?

Born in Queens, New York, in 2005, d4vd grew up in Houston, Texas, where he first began experimenting with music. He started uploading songs recorded in his sister’s closet and quickly found a platform on TikTok, where his moody, lo-fi tracks struck a chord with Gen Z listeners. His breakout singles “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me” went viral on the app in 2022, racking up millions of streams and catapulting him into the mainstream. That momentum led to a deal with Darkroom and Interscope Records.

By 2025, d4vd had released his debut album Withered, solidifying his reputation as one of alternative pop’s rising stars.

Before mainstream fame, d4vd gained traction in the Fortnite community by pairing his tracks with gameplay clips. In September 2025, he came full circle by teaming up with Epic Games to release “Locked & Loaded,” the game’s first official anthem.

“Fortnite has been such a big part of my life and it’s what led me to make music in the first place,” he told Variety in an interview published on September 4, 2025. “Being able to create the official anthem for Fortnite feels like a true full-circle moment. Fortnite gave me a space to be creative and connect with people all over the world, and that same energy is what I wanted to put into this track.”

He continued, “It’s more than a song—it’s me giving back to something that’s shaped my story as an artist. And even now, playing Fortnite is still my true passion.”

What Is d4vd’s Net Worth in 2025?

Estimates of d4vd’s net worth for 2025 generally put him at around $2 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

However, his financial future has come under scrutiny in light of recent headlines. In September 2025, police discovered the body of missing teenager Celeste Rivas in a Tesla registered to the singer, sparking a homicide investigation. As a result, several of his scheduled appearances have been affected, including a planned show in Seattle on September 17, which was canceled. According to TMZ, major brands have also pulled promotional content featuring d4vd, while some collaborators have distanced themselves from the singer.

Despite the controversy, a spokesperson confirmed that d4vd remains on his Withered World Tour and is “fully cooperating with the authorities.”

Singer D4vd, 20, Reportedly Lived In House Searched By LAPD In Connection To Deceased Minor Found In His Tesla

The investigation of the de@th of 15-year-old Celeste continues.

On Wednesday (Sept. 17), Los Angeles police searched a home in the affluent neighborhood where D4vd’s #Tesla was first abandoned. As reported, the vehicle was impounded two weeks ago and taken to a Hollywood tow yard. A strong odor ultimately prompted the discovery of a body in the frunk (front trunk), which was later identified as missing #CelesteRivas.

Reportedly, multiple officers spent hours at a Hollywood Hills home, seizing a computer and other items from the residence. TMZ reports that the searched home is where D4vd, David Burke, seemed to be living. Per the outlet, “the house is being rented by Josh Marshall, D4vd’s manager at Interscope.”

Although authorities have yet to confirm D4vd’s connection to Celeste, online speculation is spreading. Footage of him allegedly with the teen, reports of a matching tattoo, and a song he appears to have written about her have all emerged amid the growing allegations.

D4vd recently canceled a performance in #Seattle and is said to be cooperating wth police.

A decomposed body found last week in the trunk of an impounded Tesla registered to singer D4vd has been identified as a missing 15-year-old girl.

Police officers with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) discovered the human remains stuffed inside a bag in the trunk of the Tesla after responding to reports of a foul smell at a Hollywood Tow on Sept. 8.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the body as Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was reported missing in April of last year, according to NBC Los Angeles.

Hernandez’s identity was confirmed through forensics. The cause and time of her death haven’t been determined yet.

“At this time, the LAPD does not have a crime classification from the coroner as to the mode or manner of death. Thus, we do not have any suspect information at this time,” the LAPD said in a statement to the outlet.

“The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating this incident as a homicide and will be the point of contact for any further details regarding this investigation,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The Tesla was originally impounded after it had been parked on a Hollywood Hills street for more than 72 hours. A neighbour told CBS News that the Tesla had been abandoned for weeks.

“It just smelled like sewage,” the Hollywood resident told the outlet. “I think the community knew something was wrong and reported the car being abandoned.”

Authorities said the body was found in the Tesla’s front trunk and noted that the car is registered in Hempstead, Texas, to D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.

Burke was on the North American leg of his international tour at the time of the body’s discovery.

“D4vd has been informed about what’s happened. And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities,” a rep for the singer said in a statement.

Mark Volman, the Turtles Co-Founder and ‘Happy Together’ Singer, Dead

by jummy84 September 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Mark Volman, the singer and co-founder of the Sixties pop-rock group the Turtles, best known for their 1967 hit “Happy Together,” died Friday, Sept. 5. He was 78.

Reps for Volman confirmed his death to Rolling Stone, saying he died in Nashville after a “brief, unexpected illness.” Volman was also battling Lewy body dementia, which he was diagnosed with in 2020. However, he continued to tour and did not publicly reveal his diagnosis until 2023.

For much of his career, Volman worked closely with his friend Howard Kaylan, another co-founder of the Turtles and the band’s lead vocalist. After the Turtles disbanded, Volman and Kaylan linked up with Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, where they began to perform under the name Flo and Eddie. (Volman was “Flo,” which was short for “The Phlorescent Leech.”)

Along with their work with Zappa, Flo and Eddie released numerous albums of their own and scored a handful of films and TV shows. They also provided backing vocals for some of the biggest artists of the Seventies and Eighties, including John Lennon and Yoko Ono, T.Rex, Alice Cooper, Bruce Springsteen, Blondie, Stephen Stills, David Cassidy, Ray Manzarek, and Roger McGuinn.

Volman was born April 19, 1947, in Los Angeles and began playing music as a teenager. In junior high (per an old band bio), he took up the clarinet and happened to take lessons with the same teacher who was teaching Kaylan the same instrument. It wasn’t until high school, however, that the pair would meet in an a cappella group (both sang tenor).

Volman, Kaylan, and several friends — guitarist Al Nichol, drummer Don Murray, and bassist Chuck Portz — played in a band called the Crossfires during high school before forming the Turtles after graduation. (Jim Tucker, another guitarist, rounded out the band’s original lineup.) The Turtles cut their teeth playing clubs and college parties around Southern California before embarking on lengthier tours. They released their first recordings in 1965, scoring a Top 10 hit with their debut single, a rendition of Bob Dylan’s “It Ain’t Me Babe.”

Editor’s picks

After releasing two albums (1965’s It Ain’t Me, Babe and 1966’s You Baby), the Turtles scored their signature hit with “Happy Together” — a peppy blast of lovestruck flower-power pop defined by its rousing refrain of ba-ba-baaaahh’s. The song enjoyed a three-week stand at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967 and has remained one of the defining songs of the era.

While “Happy Together” anchored the Turtles’ 1967 album of the same name, it wasn’t their only hit. The duo that penned the title track — Alan Gordon and Garry Bonner — also wrote “She’d Rather Be With Me,” which peaked at Number Three on the Hot 100. The pair would write some of the Turtles’ other big hits in the coming years, too, including “She’s My Girl” and “You Know What I Mean.”

In a 2023 interview with Goldmine, Volman said that “Happy Together” “held up so well that it became the record of our career.” But, he continued, “musically I think ‘She’s My Girl,’ ‘You Know What I Mean,’ ‘Me About You,’ ‘The Story of Rock & Roll,’ and a few others are even better records. But every group hopes to have a ‘Happy Together’ and that makes us very fortunate.”

The Turtles would release two more albums — 1968’s The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands and 1969’s Turtle Soup — before disbanding in 1970. Volman, Kaylan, and Jim Pons (who’d become the Turtles’ bassist in 1967) went on to join Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, with whom they played regularly over the next several decades. (As Flo and Eddie, they sang a wonkier version of “Happy Together” on Zappa’s live album, Fillmore East – June 1971.)

Related Content

“Frank opened the door for us to explore and be involved with a lot of really grown up music,” Volman told the Recording Academy. “I say ‘grown up’ because it had guitar changes and singing parts that we created for Frank. We couldn’t create those for any other place.” He added that Zappa “really turned us loose. He turned us loose to sing what we could bring to the different songs.”

Over the next few decades, Volman and Kaylan were almost always busy. On top of their work with Zappa, they became in-demand session vocalists, and wrote and recorded several Flo and Eddie albums of their own (the first, The Phlorescent Leech & Eddie, arrived in 1972). In the Eighties, they started composing music more regularly for film and TV, doing both children’s projects like The Care Bears TV series and the Zucker-Abrams-Zucker spoof comedy Top Secret!

While he stayed busy as a musician into the Nineties, Volman also went back to college and got his bachelor’s degree at Loyola Marymount University. He went on to earn a Master’s degree and eventually started teaching college-level music business courses, enjoying a lengthy stint at Belmont University in Nashville (which is famous for its music and music business programs).

Volman and Kaylan were also part of several major music copyright cases. In 1991, they sued De La Soul over a sample of the Turtles’ “You Showed Me” in “Transmitting Live From Mars.” The case was settled out of court, but many in the hip-hop world criticized the outcome, saying it set a dangerous precedent that could bankrupt artists with licensing and/or legal fees.

Then, in 2013 they filed a class action lawsuit against SiriusXM, accusing the satellite radio company of broadcasting songs recorded before 1972 without compensating labels or artists. (New sound recordings didn’t receive federal copyright protection until 1972, but the law wasn’t clear on what protections should be given to pre-72 recordings.)

Trending Stories

The case led to a groundswell of similar suits brought by major and independent labels. The courts repeatedly ruled in favor of the labels, and eventually Sirius began to settle the suits, including a $99 million settlement with the Turtles in 2016. The case helped pave the way for the CLASSICS (Compensating Legacy Artists for their Songs, Service, and Important Contributions to Society) Act, a component of the 2019 Music Modernization Act, that finally extends federal copyright protections to pre-1972 recordings.

In 2015, Volman and Kaylan celebrated their 50th anniversary together with a massive North American tour. While Kaylan retired from the road in 2018 because of health issues, Volman continued to perform regularly. In 2023, he published his memoir, Happy Forever: My Musical Adventures With The Turtles, Frank Zappa, T. Rex, Flo & Eddie, and More.

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Singer and Songwriter EJAE On Writing ‘Golden’

by jummy84 September 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Both “Golden” and “KPop Demon Hunters” have become a global phenomenon.

In a nutshell, “KPop Demon Hunters” dropped on Netflix in June, and it exploded. It’s the biggest movie ever to stream on the platform. Four songs from the film’s soundtrack sit on Billboard’s top 10, and the film landed the top spot at the domestic box office – a first for the streamer.

The film’s “I Want” song “Golden” sung by the fictional K-Pop girl band Huntr/X sits atop the Billboard Top 10 and is undeniably the song of the summer. Countless social media videos show parents playing the song on repeat for their children, and adults have no shame in sharing their sing-along moments for the world to see.

There’s no escaping “Golden.”

“KPop Demon Hunters” follows Huntr/X, the fictional K-pop girl group whose members double as demon hunters. When they’re not battling demons and saving the world, they’re lighting up the stage with catchy songs such as “Golden.” However, they face their toughest foe yet, the Saja Boys, a demon boy band who are out to steal Huntr/X’s fans and their souls. Through it all, Rumi, who is half-demon, has to face another demon, one of self-acceptance. Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo provide the speaking voices for Rumi, Mira and Zoey, respectively. EJAE, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna provide the respective singing voices.

EJAE, a K-pop singer, is used to hearing her voice on demo tracks; hearing her voice and the songs played everywhere is taking getting used to. “Hearing it at H Mart on the radio. It’s weird,” she says.

The film’s popularity “hasn’t fully set in” for Cho. At a recent screening, she had a waitlist for her young nieces AND nephews. She understands its mass appeal regardless of age. Cho says, “It allows any human or person to feel like they can relate. It’s like they feel seen.”

The song is written by: EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, IDO, 24, and TEDDY. IDO, 24, TEDDY, and Ian Eisendrath are the song’s producers.

In the movie, “Golden” sets up the idea of Rumi, Zoey and Mira working to protect the world from demons and seal the honmoon, a barrier separating demons from the real world.

The song blends both English and Korean seamlessly into its lyrics.

Speaking with Variety, EJAE said, “One of the biggest assets I brought to the movie, or when writing the songs, was being bilingual. It was important for our co-director, Maggie Kang, to have Korean in the lyrics, and I just love that it’s not just the verses; it was in the actual song too.”

She went on to say that cracking the actual song took a while. While they had a general idea of what the scene needed, the filmmakers gave a guideline: “It needed to have the word gold in it, and the feeling of what Rumi was going through.” It also needed to introduce the struggles of each member in the verses. She says, “It needed a pep talk and the idea that we can do this together.”

Thematically, it also needed to be empowering and follow the hero’s journey of feeling like an outsider.

In the song, Rumi’s vulnerabilities are revealed – “She’s incredibly hardworking and has that leadership. She puts her best foot forward, but she tries to hide her imperfections and flaws.”

EJAE admits the melody was one of the first things she came up with for the song. “That was the first thing that I came up with.” She confesses, “I actually wrote the melody on my way to the dentist.”

The idea of “gonna be Golden” lyrics came soon after. She took it to Sonnenblick and had mumbled those words to him on the rough takes. His reaction? “Oh my God!” EJAE says the inspiration continued, and they wrote it “super fast.”

EJAE didn’t just relate to Rumi’s struggles; she related to the words she wrote. As a former K-Pop trainee, that experience and pressure were something she tried to drop into the song’s bridge. Once she had that, she says the bridge too came together with ease. “Going through that experience helped a lot in writing and emoting the melody and lyrics.”
