The inaugural function was marked by a traditional lamp-lighting and pooja. Director Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor joined Mohanlal at the event.

The shooting of Drishyam 3, the sequel in the Drishyam series, began at SN Law College, Poothotta in Kochi on Monday. Actor Mohanlal, who recently won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, essays the lead role in the film.

Mohanlal shared several new photos as Drishyam 3 shooting started.

The inaugural function was marked by a traditional lamp-lighting and pooja. Director Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor joined Mohanlal at the event.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mohanlal shared a bunch of photos. He wrote, “Bringing Georgekutty’s world alive once again…Today marks the beginning of Drishyam 3 with the Pooja. #Drishyam3 #JeethuJoseph #AashirvadCinemas #Drishyam.”

Speaking to reporters, Mohanlal expressed his happiness over receiving Indian cinema’s highest honour. On his role as Georgekutty in Drishyam’s new series, he said, “No doubt Georgekutty will create some trouble. But I have been told not to reveal much. The suspense is the excitement and catch of Drishyam 3.”

Mohanlal said that he would be travelling to New Delhi to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke award after the movie shooting inauguration event.

Drishyam (2013) and Drishyam 2 (2021) were pan-India hits and remade in multiple languages, including Hindi, Sinhala, Mandarin and Korean.

Director Jeethu Joseph said that audiences should not come with over-expectations but with curiosity. “This film is not a thriller but a family drama, focusing on how Georgekutty’s family has changed over the last four years,” he added.

Producer Antony Perumbavoor called it an unforgettable day. He also spoke about the symbolic significance of beginning Drishyam 3 soon after Mohanlal’s award announcement.

Boredom and irritation often creep into long-term relationships – but relationship coach Javal Bhatt reveals 3 super easy ways to keep the spark alive.

Being in a long-term relationship isn’t always as effortless as the honeymoon phase makes it seem. Over time, many couples find themselves feeling bored, irritable, or even disconnected from their partners – small issues that, if left unchecked, can snowball into bigger relationship problems.

Relationship coach Javal Bhatt has shared 3 simple tips you can follow to prevent boredom in a relationship.(Unsplash)

Javal Bhatt, a relationship coach, motivator, and writer, shared three simple tips to keep the spark alive in your relationship. In an Instagram video posted on November 26, 2022, he explained how to prevent boredom from creeping in, even after you’re fully committed. His advice focuses on building small but meaningful habits that keep love, curiosity, and excitement intact over time.

Don’t stop flirting

According to Javal, it’s important to keep the spark of flirting alive, not just in the early stages of dating, but even after committing to a relationship or marriage. He explains, “Flirting keeps the romantic relationship alive and helps you prevent taking your partner or relationship for granted.”

Avoid talking all day

Javal points out that talking to your partner 24×7 means you are always updated about each other. This takes away the curiosity and excitement of sharing things when you finally meet or talk at the end of the day. Jawal’s advice? “Decide the mutual timings of the day when you both are available and fully free to invest the quality time.”

Laugh together

The relationship coach recommends sharing memes, watching comedy movies together, and teasing each other in a playful way. He further elaborates, “I’m not saying you laugh all the time but research shows that a couple who often laughs together is a couple who stays together in a long lasting relationship.”

World Alzheimer’s Day 2025: Psychiatrist shares 6 tips for families taking care of their loved ones with Alzheimer’s

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

World Alzheimer’s Day 2025: While 21 September is observed as an awareness day for the progressive neurodegenerative disease, the day also serves to support caregivers. Often, family members and friends act as caregivers as their loved ones struggle with the symptoms of Alzheimer’s, like memory loss, confusion, and eventually a loss of independence, completely relying on the caregivers.

Family and friends who are caregivers may also need support.

ALSO READ: World Alzheimer’s Day 2025: Neurologist shares what to do in your 30s, 40s, and 50s to reduce risks of Alzheimer’s

As family and friends step into the role of caregivers, their mental health too takes a toll, from the physical exhaustion of constant responsibilities to the emotional heartbreak of seeing their loved one lose memory and fail to recognise them. Moreover, with the weakening cognitive functions of the patients, caregivers also may struggle to communicate at times.

Dr Paramvir Singh, Psychiatrist at Antara Memory Care Home, a dementia care facility, shared with HT Lifestyle that Alzheimer’s disease affects caregivers as much as it affects patients

He said, “For patients, in addition to memory loss, the disease progresses, resulting in confusion, disorientation, and a gradual loss of independence in everyday tasks. As communication becomes difficult, the inability to clearly express needs or understand others results in frustration, withdrawal, and isolation. Sleep disturbances like ‘sundowning’ and physical decline increase risks of falls, infections, and difficulties with eating or mobility.”

Families caring for people with Alzheimer’s often face stress, fatigue, and emotional overload. The issues which may arise, as noted by the psychiatrist, include burnout, chronic fatigue, social isolation, disrupted sleep patterns and even hypertension. To cope with the stress, many caregivers indulge in unhealthy habits like smoking.

Here are some of the suggestions Dr Paramvir Singh revealed that help to improve communication, ease distress and support both the patient and caregiver:

1. Simplify communication with the patient

  • Alzheimer’s impairs attention span, working memory, and the ability to process complex speech.
  • Short, clear sentences, repetition of key points, and giving time for responses can reduce confusion and agitation, making daily interactions smoother.

2. Validate emotions before correcting facts

  • When memory fails, arguments over “what’s real” often provoke distress. Validating what the person is feeling, even if their recall is inaccurate, helps maintain mood stability.
  • Emotional validation reduces anxiety and behavioural outbursts by anchoring communication in feelings rather than facts.

3. Establish a consistent routine and structure

  • Because procedural memory (habits and routines) often lasts longer than memory for facts and events, regular schedules for waking, meals, bathing, and sleeping help orient the person and lower anxiety.
  • Predictability reduces cognitive load and builds comfort.

4. Use non-verbal communication channels

  • As verbal skills decline, tone of voice, eye contact, touch, and facial expressions remain powerful.
  • These non-verbal cues rely on preserved neural pathways and can convey safety, reassurance, and connection even when words fail.

5. Understand and address care navigation stressors

  • For caregivers of patients with Alzheimer’s disease, managing appointments, coordinating across multiple doctors, and finding the right specialists are some of the most reported stressors. Many also struggle to secure timely help or take much-needed breaks.
  • Creating structured care plans, using shared calendars, or having access to a dedicated care coordinator can ease the associated overwhelm.

6. Prioritise caregiver support and self-care

  • Many caregivers report difficulty accessing respite care or support systems that allow them to rest. Without breaks, the risk of burnout intensifies, leading to worse outcomes for both caregiver and patient.
  • Structure can help caregivers, too; add short daily walks to your routine and set reminders for 15-minute relaxation breaks.
  • Proactively seeking respite services, support groups, or counselling is not indulgence; it is essential for sustaining care over the long term.

PCOS with regular periods? Gynaecologist says it’s possible; shares 7 symptoms: Hair on stomach, dark patches on neck

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is commonly associated with missed periods. Irregularity in the menstrual cycle is, in fact, regarded as one of the primary signs. But this is not always the case.

It’s not always true that PCOS happens only when you have irregular periods. (Shutterstock)

Dr Neha Abhijit Pawar, consultant, gynaecology at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai, told HT Lifestyle it is possible for PCOS to be present even when periods are regular. She explained that PCOS is much more complex, and sometimes it may not reflect in the cycle.

ALSO READ: Can thin women get PCOD? Gynaecologist shares symptoms of lean PCOD: Dark skin patches, oily skin

Dr Pawar said, “PCOS is a complex hormonal and metabolic disorder in which the ovaries produce higher-than-normal levels of androgens (male hormones) and the body may show resistance to insulin. These internal imbalances can exist even if the menstrual cycle appears to be normal.”

How can you have PCOS despite regular periods?

Even if your periods are regular, it does not mean the reproductive system is fully healthy. Revealing how ovulation may be compromised, she explained, “Ovulation occurs, but the egg quality may be poor, or ovulation may be inconsistent. This means that while bleeding happens at expected intervals, the underlying hormonal dysfunction that defines PCOS is still present.”

So it is very important not to rule out PCOS just because your periods are regular, since, as per the gyneacologist, “regular periods do not necessarily guarantee normal ovulation.”

Beyond the hidden ovulation issues, there’s also another reason why periods can appear normal in PCOS. The gynaecologist explained, “While excess androgens disrupt follicle development, estrogen and progesterone may still maintain a bleeding cycle. This ‘masking effect’ can mislead women into believing everything is normal, while the ovaries continue to show polycystic changes and the body continues to face risks like insulin resistance, weight gain, or difficulty conceiving.”

Signs of PCOS other than irregular menstrual cycle

Hormonal acnes happen in adulthood too.(Shutterstock)

Other than menstrual irregularity, here are the symptoms Dr Pawar shared:

  1. Excess hair growth (hirsutism) on the face, chest, or stomach.
  2. Persistent acne or oily skin that does not improve with usual treatments.
  3. Thinning hair or male-pattern baldness on the scalp.
  4. Unexplained weight gain, particularly around the waist and abdomen.
  5. Darkened patches of skin (acanthosis nigricans), often around the neck, groin, or underarms.
  6. Difficulty getting pregnant, even when cycles are regular.
  7. Polycystic ovaries on ultrasound, with multiple small follicles seen in the ovaries.

Should you visit a doctor?

With periods appearing normal, the question arises whether one should visit a doctor. Dr Pawar advised that PCOS should not be ignored, as untreated PCOS can worsen health. She said, “If you notice any of these symptoms, it is wise not to ignore them just because your menstrual cycles seem fine. PCOS, if left undiagnosed, can increase the risk of type 2 diabetes, infertility, cardiovascular disease, and endometrial problems over time.”

She suggested that a gynaecologist or endocrinologist may guide with blood tests to check hormone levels, assess insulin sensitivity, and conduct an ultrasound if needed.

Struggling to lose weight after 30? Fitness coach Lars Meidell shares diet tips and smart strategies to shed pounds, burn fat, and stay healthy in your 30s.

Losing weight can feel tougher as you cross 30, with slower metabolism, busy schedules, and changing hormones making fitness a challenge. Fitness coach Lars Meidell shares in his September 18 Instagram post the most effective diet tips to help you shed pounds and stay healthy in your 30s and beyond. (Also read: Fitness coach says ‘I look and feel 10 years younger’, shares 10 anti-ageing foods he eats daily to stay youthful )

How do calories add up and cause weight gain over time

“This is 7,700 calories of chocolate,” Lars explains. “But there’s also 7,700 calories in 1kg of fat. This means you’d have to eat all of this chocolate on top of your maintenance calories to gain 1kg of fat. Doesn’t sound realistic to eat all of this in one day, does it?”

He adds, “So why is it that over time we gain weight even if we’re not eating huge amounts of food at once? The truth is, people get fat because calories add up gradually.”

Lars illustrates this with a simple example: “Here’s 550 calories worth of nuts, bread, and chocolate. If you just eat one of these portions on top of your maintenance calories for 14 days, you’ve gained 1kg of fat.”

What’s the key to losing stubborn fat

He advises, “You don’t have to cut out all the foods you love to live a healthy, happy, and sustainable life. But if you want to lose those stubborn love handles and achieve a toned, lean, flat stomach, you need to stop making mistakes like this.”

“To make it work, it’s crucial to know your daily calorie and protein goals, especially if you’re a man over 35. I’ve recorded a three-step guide showing how you can get the most effective nutrition plan,” concludes Lars.

Miley Cyrus Shares ‘Something Beautiful’ Deluxe Edition

by jummy84 September 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Miley Cyrus is back with more of Something Beautiful.

As promised in a social post earlier in the week, the veteran pop singer has dropped the deluxe edition, featuring the original LP’s 13 songs, plus two new tracks featuring rock icons.

The first of those fresh cuts is a number Cyrus has been teasing for several weeks, “Secrets,” a sweeping ballad featuring former Fleetwood Mac bandmates drummer Mick Fleetwood and guitarist/singer Lindsey Buckingham.

The now 15-track expanded LP closes with a collaboration featuring David Byrne, called “Lockdown.”

It’s not the first time Cyrus and Byrne have made music together. The “Wrecking Ball” singer swung onto the stage with the Talking Heads legend in 2022 for her NBC New Year’s Eve special, when they performed hit a duet on David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” as well as Byrne’s “Everybody’s Coming To My House.”

Cyrus’ ninth studio album, Something Beautiful arrived in May and includes collaborations with members of the bands Alvvays, Model/Actriz, the War on Drugs, as well as Danielle Haim, Flea, model Naomi Campbell and Brittany Howard. The album was accompanied by a musical film written and co-directed by Cyrus that premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival and then played in theaters for one-night-only in June before moving to streaming on Hulu.

Something Beautiful peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, and is one of Cyrus’ 15 top 10 appearances on the albums chart, a tally that includes five leaders. She has led the Billboard Hot 100 on two occasions, with 2013’s “Wrecking Ball” (for three weeks) and 2023’s “Flowers” (for eight weeks).

The album release was followed with the short film of the same name. After its Tribeca premiere, Something Beautiful was shown as a one-night-only screening across North American theaters on June 12 and internationally on June 27.

Cyrus attended a listening event for fans in Los Angeles earlier this year, where she remarked: “I love making music with everybody on this carpet – I don’t do stages now,” a nod to news that she has no desire to tour again.

A woman lost 18 kg by changing just one thing in her diet. She shares how this simple tweak made weight loss easier and more sustainable.

Weight loss journeys often feel overwhelming, but sometimes the simplest changes can lead to the biggest results. One woman named Reet Kaur managed to shed 18 kg after switching just 1 thing in her diet, and her transformation proves that consistency and small tweaks can truly pay off. (Also read: Woman who lost 72 kg with eating disorder and ADHD opens up about her weight loss secrets: ‘I stopped labelling food…’ )

How woman lost 18 kg by changing 1 thing in her diet

Reet shared in her September 17 Instagram post, “To lose weight, you need to be in a calorie deficit (you consume fewer calories than your body burns). But sticking to that deficit can be tough, especially when hunger strikes. Here’s the single change I made in my diet to make it easier, I started volume eating!”

She explained that volume eating is a strategy where you fill your plate with larger portions of low-calorie, high-volume foods, so you stay full without overshooting your calorie intake. This method, she says, helps with weight loss, fat loss, and overall satiety, without leaving you feeling deprived.

Instead of reaching for small portions of calorie-dense snacks like chips or chocolate, Reet suggests focusing on foods that are:

  • High in water content (fruits, veggies, soups)
  • Rich in fibre (whole grains, legumes)
  • Low in calories per gram (leafy greens, lean proteins)

“This allows you to eat more food for fewer calories, helping with hunger control and portion satisfaction,” Reet added.

Examples of volume-eating foods

1. Vegetables (High in fibre and water)

  • Leafy greens (spinach, lettuce, kale)
  • Cucumbers, zucchini, bell peppers
  • Cauliflower, broccoli, carrots
  • Mushrooms, tomatoes, eggplant

2. Fruits (Naturally sweet and hydrating)

  • Berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • Watermelon, oranges, apples
  • Pineapple, papaya, pomegranate

3. Lean proteins (Keeps you full longer)

  • Chicken breast, turkey, egg whites
  • Tofu, tempeh, cottage cheese
  • Shrimp, white fish, Greek yoghurt

4. Whole grains (Fibre-rich and satisfying)

  • Oatmeal, quinoa, brown rice
  • Whole wheat pasta, barley, bulgur
  • Popcorn (air-popped, without butter)

5. Low-calorie liquids and broths

  • Clear soups (vegetable, bone broth)
  • Herbal teas, infused water
  • Sparkling water with lemon
