Austin Music Club Antone’s Signs 50-Year Lease, Set to Open Museum

Independent music venue Antone’s has been guaranteed another 50 years in downtown Austin.

On Monday (Nov. 10), the club’s owners announced they had signed a 50-year lease for the venue’s current location on East 5th Street, which will see the iconic space through to its 100th anniversary in 2075.

The Antone’s brand has been in several locations throughout its history, with its most recent ownership group landing on a former glass depot on the busy East 5th Street. The venue’s current edition, which opened on New Year’s Eve 2015, includes the 400-capacity concert hall, a record shop called Big Henry’s and an event space on its upper floor. The long-term lease includes all three spaces, while the event space and bar will be transformed into an Antone’s museum.

This summer, the venue, which originally opened in 1975, celebrated its 50th anniversary with a commemorative merch collection, a touring show and an anniversary box set that included live recordings from the blues club’s history.

“We’ve got to use this milestone and the achievement of the 50th to switch from surviving to thriving,” Antone’s co-owner Will Bridges tells Billboard. “It’s crazy to think that Antone’s would have a 100th anniversary and by having that long of a term, to just be able to think and plan long term.”

When Antone’s took over its current space, the owners signed a 10-year lease with two five-year options, with Bridges noting the landlord has been nothing but supportive of the venue. However, the ownership group saw an opportunity to receive a grant from the local Iconic Venue Fund if Antone’s had a secure position in the city, such as land ownership or a long-term lease agreement. Other Austin venues that have benefited from the fund include Hole in the Wall and Empire Control Room & Garage.

Thanks to the 50-year lease, Antone’s has been selected to receive a $1.3 million investment from Rally Austin (home to the Austin Cultural Trust that controls the Iconic Venue Fund) to create a museum called Antone’s “World Famous” Museum of the Blues. The museum, which will be housed permanently on Antone’s upper level beginning in 2027, will celebrate Austin’s blues heritage and foster educational and community programming. It will donate a portion of its proceeds to the city’s Rally for Live Music Fund.

On Monday (Nov. 10), Antone’s will also launch the Antone’s Forever Fund as part of the Clifford Antone Foundation, to ensure the museum’s educational, cultural and community initiatives are continually advancing.

The museum will be open both during the day and in the evenings, providing additional revenue to support the venue and the Clifford Antone Foundation. The Iconic Venue Fund grant also includes a five-year operating stipend to help grow museum operations.

Given the response to the Antone’s 50th All Stars shows in Los Angeles, New York and Nashville, Antone’s creative and musical director Zach Ernst believes these new developments will help cement the venue’s legacy.

“All this extra activity we did this year under the banner of the 50th really reminded us how important Antone’s is outside of Austin,” Ernst tells Billboard. “We really do deserve this kind of [support] as an institution. It’s hard for worker bees like me and Will to think that way. But it is all thanks to Clifford Antone and his vision back in ‘75.”

KISS Announce Massive 50th Anniversary ‘Alive!’ Box Set

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

KISS, technically, retired this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still rock and roll all night with the greasepaint and pyro legends. The band announced the upcoming release of a huge box set celebrating the 50th anniversary of their landmark Alive! concert album.

Explore

See latest videos, charts and news

The Super Deluxe version of the album will feature 4 CDs + Blu-Ray audio, an Alive! track list t-shirt with 120 tracks, including 88 previously unreleased tracks. The first CD features the original album on one disc for the first time ever, newly remastered from the original 1975 stereo analog master tapes. In addition, CDs two and three will feature two full-length concerts from the 1975 Dressed to Kill tour at the RKO Orpheum Theatre in Davenport, Iowa on July 20, and the Wildwood Convention Hall in Wildwood, N.J. on July 23, newly remixed by the legendary engineer Eddie Kramer from the original multi-track analog tapes with no overdbubs.

The fourth CD will pull together five rehearsal tracks from the Davenport show, including an impromptu jam and another six songs from Cleveland Music Hall in Cleveland, Ohio on June 21, 1975, remixed by Kramer from the original multi-track recordings. The Blu-Ray audio disc will contain a new Alive! mix from Kramer from the original album multi-track analog tapes in Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround, as well as newly remastered stereo in 192 KHZ 24-bit and 96 KHZ 24-bit PCM stereo set to a new visualizer with unreleased photos and tape box images.

The Super Deluxe version ($400.48) has a number of other extras, including a 100-page hardcover book with extensive liner notes by Ken Sharp and new interviews with singer/guitarist Paul Stanley, bassist/singer Gene Simmons and other notable Alive!-era KISS team members, as well as a number of unreleased photos and rare images. In addition, it will fold in an Alive! 1975 press kit with: four black and white glossy photos, an Alive! tour program, album cover lenticular, t-shirt iron-on, four live color glossy photos, a Peter Criss drum head litho, a number of concert posters, ticket stubs and backstage passes, coasters, guitar picks, bumper stickers and a track-by-track interview with Kramer discussing nearly all the tracks in the collection.

The anniversary edition will also come in a 4-CD box set version with a t-shirt ($287.55), a deluxe picture disc edition with sweatshirt ($251.89) and a premium color vinyl version with a sweatshirt ($125.98). All the editions are slated to ship on Nov. 21, with Kiss Army members eligible for pre-order now here.

Alive! was KISS’ fourth album and their first live LP, as well as a kind of standard-bearer for live rock albums going forward. Though they’d released three albums by that point, the band rose to a new level of fame thanks to the double concert album that collected songs from the theatrical group’s 1974 self-titled debut, as well as that year’s Hotter Than Hell and 1975’s Dressed To Kill, including such future stone-cold live staples as “Deuce,” “Strutter,” “Firehouse,” “Black Diamond,” Cold Gin” and “Rock and Roll All Nite.” (Click here for a taste of Sharp’s extensive history of the making of Alive!)

The album features the indelible work of late founding guitarist Ace Frehley, who died last month at the age of 74 following injuries from a fall in the studio. Frehley will become only the third person to receive the Kennedy Center Honor posthumously when KISS collect the award at a ceremony slated to tape on Dec. 7 and air on CBS on Dec. 23.

How ‘Elsbeth’ Season 3 Episode 5 Just Set up Recurring Arc for ‘The Good Fight’s Sarah Steele

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

What To Know

  • Elsbeth Season 3 Episode 5 introduces a new recurring arc with The Good Fight‘s Marissa Gold (Sarah Steele) running a mayoral campaign.
  • After sparks flew between Elsbeth and the candidate, Marissa hatched a scheme.
  • The episode features a murder case involving a poetry journal head (William Jackson Harper) who kills his donor.

[Warning: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for Elsbeth Season 3 Episode 5, “Poetic Justice.”]

Elsbeth has great timing. The same week New York City elected Zohran Mamdani as its next mayor, the NYC-set CBS procedural introduced its own charismatic mayoral candidate — one whom Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) is now unwittingly connected to, thanks to a political scheme hatched by The Good Fight‘s Marissa Gold (Sarah Steele), who’s now following in her father, Eli Gold’s (Alan Cumming), footsteps with a career pivot into politics.

Elsbeth Season 3 Episode 5, “Poetic Justice,” starred William Jackson Harper as the killer of the week. He played Gary Pidgeon, the head of a prestigious poetry journal that was desperately struggling for funds (“The arts are under attack!” Harper’s Gary kept repeating). He killed his biggest donor to ensure that she didn’t rewrite her will to divert funds away from his journal and towards another. He likely would have gotten away with it had it not been for his sharing oddly specific details about the gas tank explosion during his chance first meeting with Elsbeth, who was attending a fundraising event for unhoused people with her friend, Dr. Yablonsky (Daniel Davis). Yablonsky served on Pidgeon Print’s board.

Before the run-in with the soon-to-be-revealed murderer, Elsbeth ran into her old pal, Sarah. She’s now running the mayoral campaign for Alec Bloom (Ivan Hernandez). Elsbeth and Alec shared a cute rapport that made Marissa ask, “Am I crazy, or am I sensing a vibe here?” They denied it, but the spark was there. Later, Marissa came to Elsbeth’s precinct to pitch an idea.

“I think Alec may have a woman problem, electorally speaking,” she said. “I think you two should have dinner.” She wanted to set up a date for publicity to make Alec seem more appealing to women voters. That, and, as Marissa described, “Your consent decree is kind of a magic bullet to position him well on policing for the electorate. He wants to see how the system can be changed from within.” With that, the date was set.

Michael Parmelee / CBS

The three of them met for a drink later on in the episode, and Elsbeth was moved by Alec’s story about being unhoused when he was younger and how it motivates him to want to take care of New Yorkers through public office. They shared a lot of interests as well, such as a love of musical theater and NYC tourist attractions.

Word got out to the press that Alec was seen on what looked like a date with a “mysterious redhead,” and the story went wide. When the three of them met up again, Elsbeth asked Alec and Marissa to inform the press that they weren’t an item because she didn’t want to feel like a “pawn” in their campaign, for personal reasons and because she has “serious work to do” in New York, so being painted as just a pretty love interest in the press isn’t a desirable look for her. Marissa agreed she would kill the story, but she didn’t.

The episode ended with Marissa back at the precinct and revealed that she “won’t let” Alec issue a statement saying that he and “the mysterious redhead” are just friends.

“Don’t tell Alec, but I’m the one who leaked the photos in the first place,” she revealed. “I said I didn’t want to be that person. Turns out, I am that person. I need you to listen to me carefully. It’s super important that you don’t make any moves or talk to anyone about this unless I tell you to. Elsbeth Tascioni, the future of New York is in your hands.” No pressure!

This tees up Marissa and Alec’s returns in Elsbeth Season 3 Episode 7, airing on Thursday, November 20. In the episode, Teddy (Elsbeth’s son, played by Ben Levi Ross) digs into Alec’s past for a feature he is working on. How will this be impacted by Elsbeth’s PR relationship with the mayoral candidate? Or will it help his chances? And could a real romance bloom out of this PR stunt? However it shakes down, Marissa is going to be pulling the strings.

Before Episode 7, Tony Hale, Dianne Wiest (as a nun!), and Henny Russell will guest star in Episode 6 (airing on Thursday, November 13). Russell plays Judge Milton Crawford’s (Michael Emerson) widow. Her meeting with Elsbeth is bound to cause a stir, according to Preston herself.

Jennifer Lawrence Says She Didn’t Need Intimacy Coordinator With Robert Pattinson On ‘Die My Love’ Set

by jummy84 November 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Jennifer Lawrence is opening up about her experience on the set of Die My Love with co-star Robert Pattinson.

The film, directed by Lynne Ramsay, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Enda Walsh and Alice Birch, follows Grace (Lawrence), who develops postpartum depression, and, alongside her partner Jackson (Pattinson), enters psychosis.

Lawrence and Pattinson share intimate scenes, and the American Hustle star revealed why she felt so comfortable working with her co-star.

“We did dance lessons together, which was like team building exercises,” she said on the latest episode of Las Culturistas podcast. “In the end, it ended up being more helpful just for choreography of sex scenes and fighting scenes.”

The topic of an intimate coordinator came up but Lawrence didn’t remember if they had one and explained why she ultimately didn’t need one.

“We did not have one or maybe we did, but we didn’t really… I felt really safe with him,” she said. “He’s not pervy and he’s very in love with [partner] Suki [Waterhouse]. We mostly were talking about our kids and relationships so there wasn’t any weird, like, ‘Does he think I like him?’”

“If there was a little bit of that I would probably have an intimacy coordinator. A lot of male actors get offended if you don’t want to f*** them, and then the punishment starts. But he was not like that, for the record.”

Intimacy coordinators are people hired to facilitate communication between actors and directors during intimate scenes. This position emerged in response to the #MeToo movement.

Lawrence also shared her thoughts about appearing nude in the film, which was done when she was pregnant with her second child.

“I don’t care about nudity. I’m not sensitive about it,” she said. “I think being pregnant took a lot of, like, vanity anxiety away. Before No Hard Feelings, I was dieting and not eating carbs and working out. I was pregnant [in Die My Love]. What was I gonna do? Not eat?”

Die My Love opens in theaters on November 7, and it also stars LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte, Sissy Spacek, Gabrielle Rose, Debs Howard, Sarah Lind, and Marcus Della Rosa.

The Mummy Franchise Rises Again! Brendan Fraser And Rachel Weisz Set To Return For Fourth Installment | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 November 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Hollywood is going to get a serious shot of nostalgia as Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are reportedly teaming up once again for the fourth installment of the franchise, The Mummy. Per Deadline, Universal Pictures is rebooting one of its most favorite action-adventure sagas, with these two talents in discussions to revisit their stellar roles of Rick O’Connell and Evelyn Carnahan respectively.

The new movie will be directed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who rebooted the Scream franchise, from a script written by David Coggeshall. Franchise veteran producer Sean Daniel returns to produce alongside William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment, reuniting the creative team behind the most recent Scream reboots.

Fraser and Weisz first starred in The Mummy, directed by Stephen Sommers, and its sequel, The Mummy Returns, in 1999 and 2001. Both films were based on Universal’s classic monster legacy and grossed more than $400 million worldwide, becoming cult hits. In them, Fraser took on the role of Rick O’Connell, a dashing adventurer and ex-soldier, while Weisz portrayed Evelyn, a smart Egyptologist. Their chemistry-developing from being reluctant partners to a married couple fighting ancient Egyptian curses-was the key to the series’ success.

The franchise expanded with the 2002 spinoff The Scorpion King, starring Dwayne Johnson, and the 2008 sequel The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which saw Fraser return without Weisz.
After his Oscar-winning comeback with The Whale, Fraser keeps the momentum going with Rental Family, which bows Nov. 21 from Searchlight Pictures. Weisz is also an Oscar winner and recently appeared in Prime Video’s Dead Ringers and Marvel’s Black Widow.

With the two stars back on board and a new creative team to take the reins, The Mummy 4 could resurrect the adventure, romance, and supernatural thrills that made the original films timeless favorites.

Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz Set to Revive The Mummy Franchise

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are reuniting for a fourth installment in The Mummy franchise at Universal.

Fraser starred in the first three films of the franchise, with Weisz appearing in the first two (Maria Bello replaced Weisz for the third entry).

According to Variety, the fourth movie will be directed by Radio Silence, the filmmaking team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who broke through with the 2019 horror movie, Ready or Not, and revived the Scream franchise with Scream 5 and Scream 6 in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

The original 1999 film The Mummy was a box-office smash, grossing more than $422.5 million and launching a reliable franchise for Universal in the early 2000s. The action-adventure romp that made Fraser a star was a fun, feel-good ride strong enough to land the series on our 50 Best Action Movie Franchises of All Time list.

After stepping away from Hollywood for a variety of reasons, including an assault allegation against the former HFPA president, Fraser returned to prominence with the 2022 film, The Whale, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor.

Last year, it was revealed that Fraser will play Dwight D. Eisenhower in the upcoming movie, Pressure, which is based on the 72 hours leading up to D-Day.

Weisz, who starred as twins in Prime Video’s adaptation of Dead Ringers back in 2023, is set to appear in the upcoming Netflix series, Vladimir, an adaptation of the critically acclaimed, bestselling novel by Julia May Jonas.

Her birthday took an amusing turn during a recent appearance on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s upcoming talk show, where filmmaker Farah Khan shared a funny yet heartwarming moment with her. While chatting about her early career days, Ananya recalled, “I was fully confident… but then I left the set in tears,” remembering how nervous she once felt as a newcomer. Farah quickly added with her signature wit, “Whichever heroine I make cry ends up becoming a big star!” — leaving everyone, including Ananya, in splits.

The conversation reminded Farah of another incident from Deepika Padukone’s debut film Om Shanti Om (2007). Farah revealed that she had once scolded Deepika on set, which made her cry, but added that it came from a place of belief. “I knew she had it in her. I wanted her to give her best,” Farah said, praising Deepika’s growth since then.

As Ananya steps into another year, her career continues to flourish. After her recent role in Kesari Chapter 2 alongside Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan, she is set to reunite with Kartik Aaryan in Tu Meri Main Tera and also star in Chand Mera Dil. With exciting projects ahead, Bollywood’s Gen-Z star seems all set for another big year.
