Bob Vylan announce ‘We Won’t Go Quietly’ 2025 UK tour as they hit back at “spineless” BBC chief for condemning “deeply disturbing” Glastonbury set to MPs

Bob Vylan have announced some UK headline dates for 2025, and hit back at the BBC director-general for condemning their Glastonbury set to MPs.

The punk rap duo will hit the road for their ‘We Won’t Go Quietly’ tour this November, following a summer of controversy surrounding their slot at Worthy Farm in June.

  • READ MORE: Bob Vylan: “We’ve been screaming about these topics at the top of our lungs for years. Why has it taken this long?”

“After all the attempts to silence us, we’re about to be louder than ever. We won’t go quietly!” the band wrote when confirming the upcoming shows this morning (September 9).

Kicking off at the O2 Academy in Leeds on November 4, the trek also includes stops in Manchester, Glasgow, London, Bristol and Birmingham.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am BST this Friday (September 12) – you’ll be able to buy yours here. An O2 Priority pre-sale will begin at the same time tomorrow (Wednesday September 10).

Check out the announcement post below, along with the full schedule.

Bob Vylan’s 2025 ‘We Won’t Go Quietly’ UK tour dates are:

NOVEMBER
04 – O2 Academy, Leeds
05 – Academy, Manchester
06 – O2 Academy, Glasgow
11 – O2 Kentish Town Forum, London
20 – The Prospect Building, Bristol

DECEMBER
04 – O2 Academy, Birmingham

Bob Vylan have also called out Tim Davie, the BBC director-general, after he called the corporation’s decision to broadcast the duo’s Glastonbury 2025 set live “a very significant mistake” (via The Independent).

When facing questions from MPs on the Culture, Media and Sport Committee today, Davie branded Bob Vylan’s slot at the event “anti-Semitic” and “deeply disturbing”.

“I don’t think I misread it, I just got there [to Glastonbury] when I heard about it [at] about five o’clock,” Davie recalled. “The performance was well done by then, and at that point, I knew absolutely that it was an anti-Semitic broadcast.

“So, my decision was to get that off on demand, simple as that. I mean, it wasn’t too complicated in my mind […] I do think it was deeply disturbing.”

In response, the band labelled Davie a “spineless puppet” and denied any wrongdoing once again: “There was nothing anti-Semitic or criminal about anything I said at Glastonbury. Why do you think @metpoliceuk @ASPolice are taking so long?

As well as being dropped by their agency, Bob Vylan have had their US visas revoked and are currently under criminal investigation over the performance. The gig saw the duo voice their support for Palestine, criticise Israel, and lead the crowd in chants of “death, death to the IDF [Israel Defence Forces]”.

In July, it was reported that police were still investigating Bob Vylan’s Glastonbury set. However, it was confirmed at the time that they had dropped their inquiry into Kneecap’s performance at the festival.

“Tim Davie is doing his best to continue throwing others under the bus and cling on to power at the BBC but we see him and the institution for what they are,” Bob Vylan wrote this afternoon.

“Bought and paid for, complicit in the Gaza genocide and a leading force in the silencing of those speaking up against it.”

They went on to claim that “the reason [their Glastonbury set] wasn’t cut immediately is not because of some oversight at the BBC as they keep making out, but because there was nothing anti-Semitic about the performance”.

Davie said today that “the BBC made a very significant mistake in broadcasting” the show. “The fact that those words were broadcast to that broad audience […] frankly, it was disturbing,” he added.

Bob Vylan responded: “As a matter of fact I know there were staff at the BBC that loved the performance and saw nothing wrong with it until they were told there was something wrong with it. I also know some other bits and pieces but let me just 🤐.”

Following the broadcast, a spokesperson for the BBC said: “The team were dealing with a live situation, but with hindsight we should have pulled the stream during the performance. We regret this did not happen.”

Lorna Clarke, a Black woman, was so quickly dismissed from her duties after Glastonbury. Why? Someone had to fall and who easier to take it than a Black woman. But now he’s getting grilled and is showing just how incompetent and bought HE is.

— Bob Vylan (@BobbyVylan) September 9, 2025

They continued: “The BBC respects freedom of expression but stands firmly against incitement to violence. The anti-Semitic sentiments expressed by Bob Vylan were utterly unacceptable and have no place on our airwaves.”

Bob Vylan have also today addressed Lorna Clarke stepping down from her role as the BBC’s director of music following the backlash.

“Lorna Clarke, a Black woman, was so quickly dismissed from her duties after Glastonbury,” they wrote. “Why? Someone had to fall and who easier to take it than a Black woman. But now [Davie is] getting grilled and is showing just how incompetent and bought HE is.”

Bob Vylan have spoken out to defend their Glastonbury 2025 performance numerous times now. They’ve claimed it was vital to “teach our children to speak up for the change they want”, and reiterated that they were wanting the “dismantling of a violent military machine” – not calling for “the death of Jews or Arabs or any other race or group”.

In a statement, Glastonbury organisers said they were “appalled by the statements made from the West Holts stage by Bob Vylan”.

Shortly after the festival, the BBC said it would no longer broadcast performances it deemed “high risk”. Around the same time, Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy accused the BBC of having a “problem of leadership”.

Callum Scott Howells & Christine Tremarco Set For ‘Deadpoint’

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

EXCLUSIVE: Callum Scott Howells (It’s a Sin), Michael Socha (Showtrial), Annes Elwy (Wolf) and Emmy-nominated Christine Tremarco (Adolescence) will star in Deadpoint, the Channel 4 drama from debut writer Matt Hartley.

The five-part action thriller series, which comes from Baby Reindeer and Misfits producer Clerkenwell Films, has tapped Marco Kreuzpaintner (The Lazarus Project) as lead director. Laura Scrivano, who also worked on The Lazarus Project, is also directing episodes. Filming has begun in Wales.

Set amongst the Eryri National Park, which houses all 15 Welsh mountains over 3,000ft tall, the show follows a close-knit group of Welsh climbers who encounter a far-right faction plotting a violent act in their local mountains. Channel 4 is billing the wilderness-set thriller as “a literal cliffhanger, grounded in the tensions existing in our society today.”

The plot sees the climbing group left reeling after a tragic accident on a mountaineering expedition. Aaron (Scott-Howells) blames himself and abandons his hometown to the fury of his sister, Seren (Elwy). After a year abroad, he’s forced to confront his pathological fear of climbing when Seren fails to return from a routine climb. As he searches for her, he is unaware the followers of extremist group Justice Crusade, led by charismatic but unstable former soldier Fairweather (Socha), are on their own mission in the mountains. At the same time, they are being tracked by a senior police detective (Tremarco), who suspects they are building up to something big.

The leads are joined in an ensemble cast by Gary Lewis (Franklin), John Bradley (Game of Thrones), Sam Keeley (Kin), Martin McCann (Blue Lights), Fflyn Edwards (The Crown), Emily Stott (Foundation), Ellora Torchia (Midsommar), Gwilym Lee (Bohemian Rhapsody), Michael Jibson (No Return), Crystal Condie (Dear England), Siôn Alun Davies (Hidden), Oliver Finnegan (The Watchers), Rhodri Meilir (In My Skin) and Arthur Hughes (Shardlake).

Channel 4 first unveiled the series last year, but today’s news fleshes out the plot and cast. Gwawr Lloyd, Interim Head of Drama at Channel 4, commissioned the series. Executive producers are Andy Baker, Charlie Langdell, Wim de Greef, Petra Fried, Hartley and Kreuzpaintner, with Adam Knopf producing and Christopher J. Thomas co-producing. The Welsh government provided support via Creative Wales and the show is produced in association with Clerkenwell’s parent company, BBC Studios, which is handling global sales.

Playwright Hartley is a first-time TV series writer, who is also penning Poison Pen Studios’ drama The Dark for ITV, an adaptation of GR Halliday’s From the Shadows, the first novel in the DI Monica Kennedy series. Hartley has previously written for EastEnders and Hollyoaks, and is repped by United Agents.

Lloyd predicted the show would be “as thought-provoking as it is pulse-raising,” adding: “Deadpoint is a bold and incredibly tense thriller that places characters and their journeys at the heart of high-stakes action. Matt Hartley’s debut script is as gripping as it gets and all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Eryri mountain range.”

Clerkenwell exec producer Baker added: “Matt’s created a gripping thriller with a depth and complexity that speaks to our very divided times, and we have a brilliant pair of directors, a fantastic crew and a truly amazing cast bringing it to life.”

7 The Frankie Shop Autumn Jackets Set to Define the Season

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Few brands capture modern cool as effortlessly as The Frankie Shop. Born in New York via French founder Gaëlle Drevet, this brand is now a permanent fixture on every editor’s autumn wish list, as the label has perfected the balance of precise tailoring with off-duty ease. Outerwear, in particular, has become its calling card—oversized silhouettes, clean lines and a certain nonchalant polish that make Frankie jackets instantly recognisable on the street-style circuits across the globe. This is outerwear that doesn’t play a supporting role; it is the outfit.

Over the past few seasons, Frankie Shop’s jackets have carved out cult status. The viral quilted jacket was the piece that catapulted the brand from insider favourite to mainstream, spotted everywhere from Instagram grids to airport lounges. Since then, the label’s trenches have gained similar momentum, winning over editors and influencers alike. Marilyn Nkunzi and Linda Tol, for example, are rarely seen without theirs once autumn hits, styling them with everything from wide-leg tailoring to slouchy denim. Naturally, this season’s line-up is already attracting the same kind of buzz; Caroline Lin is championing the brand’s red leather bomber, cementing it as the new piece to own this season, while Sarah Louise Blythe was just spotted in the brand’s elevated Indore trench.

This autumn, Frankie builds on its legacy with a line-up that leans into proportion play. Slouchy bombers bring just the right dose of attitude, quilted puffers are elevated beyond their utilitarian roots, and boxy blazers are cut to cocoon even your chunkiest knitwear. These are the effortless throw-ons that work for every occasion, and always strike the same chord: cool, confident, considered. Keep scrolling to shop the styles already winning over fashion insiders this season.

‘Black-ish’ Producer’s Sitcom Set in Wildfire-Devastated L.A. Sees Ire

by jummy84 September 6, 2025
written by jummy84

A CBS sitcom in development from Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and comic Mike Epps is experiencing online backlash since it was announced, as it’s set against the backdrop of the wildfire-devastated area of Altadena, where residents are still reeling from this January’s deadly and destructive wildfires.

The project — which is in its early stages and has no cast attached beyond Epps, nor any on-air commitment from CBS — would follow two brothers who move in with their late grandmother’s caretaker when their plans fall apart as they try to sell her property in Altadena, an area of L.A. that saw major devastation in January’s deadly Eaton fire; that blaze, one of several over a few weeks in January across L.A., killed at least 19 people and destroyed over 9,000 structures. It would mark a return to broadcast TV for BET Studios principal Barris, who has focused on cable and streaming properties since Black-ish ended its run on ABC in 2022.

On Jan. 7, a Santa Ana wind event pushed very dry winds through Southern California’s mountains. Peak gusts were said to have reached 90 mph, and it’s believed they led a transmission line to become re-energized, igniting the fire that rapidly pushed into foothill communities — particularly Altadena. The fire spread to 14,000 acres by Jan. 10 and caused mass destruction, nearly wiping out Altadena’s downtown area. Residents looking to rebuild are now competing with their wealthy neighbors across L.A. also impacted by the eight blazes that torched the city that month as they fend off disaster capitalist land developers looking to scoop up land from the minority-heavy community.

The situation might not feel ripe for comedy hijinks as many in Altadena continue to struggle nine months after the deadly devastation. Since the development was announced via Deadline, some have expressed trepidation and disgust, while others hope that the show finds an appropriate balance of levity and pathos. The debate was ignited instantly in the announcement story’s comments section and spread across the web as many decried the premise of the show and expressed disdain around the idea of a sitcom using a tragedy and uphill recovery battle as fodder for laughs.

“Funny or too soon?” journalist and KBLA radio host James Farr wrote while posting about the series on Instagram, sparking debate in L.A. among his followers.

“Love them both but there’s not anything funny happening. I’m sure they’ll deliver intellectual humor with plenty of ‘message’ as a through line. However, I don’t know how I feel about it,” Farr said when asked about the in development show. “Great for keeping Altadena in the national conversation though.”

Comments on Farr’s post ran from outrage (“Way too soon!!”) to cautious hope. An Instagram user named Alegria Castro summed up sentiment on both sides of the debate, writing: “If it’s going to benefit the community of Altadena and the rebuild — Then it’s great! If not, too soon.”

A communications spokesperson for Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who represents the 5th district of L.A. County, even weighed in to The Orange County Register, saying that they’d heard from constituents about the show and, “the majority have voiced feeling hurt this is in the works. The loss they’ve felt due to the Eaton fire feels still very raw for many.”

Barris’s Instagram post announcing the show’s development and premise also irked many of his followers. The showrunner defended himself and the project in response to one user’s criticism.

“What way could you think of supporting it then by doing what I know how to do and trying to bring a light to a place that many have already forgotten,” Barris commented. “I understand your fear but know that I only plan to do the best I can to make sure the world sees you.”

Sunny Deol’s Astrological Insight & Forecast — Fresh Collabs & Financial Highs Set Stage For A Power-Packed Phase That Will Prove “Sau Sonar Ki, Ek Lohar Ki” Again

A Look Into Sunny Deol’s Astrological Insight & Forecast!
Check Out Sunny Deol’s Astrological Insight & Forecast In-Depth! ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Sunny Deol’s chart can be summed up in the timeless Hindi saying, “Sau Sonar ki, Ek Lohar ki.” While others may notch up wins here and there, Sunny bides his time, pushing forward with quiet determination. But when his moment comes, it arrives like a thunderclap – shaking the industry and rewriting box-office history. His victories are so colossal, they make the rest look insignificant. Look at Gadar – Ek Prem Katha and Gadar 2 – both among the highest grossers of all time of Indian cinema.

Sunny Deol, with Taurus rising, carries the solid, dependable energy of this fixed earth sign. Taurus ascendants are known for their resilience, straightforwardness, and ability to endure long struggles without losing faith. His career arc, marked by phases of quiet persistence punctuated by massive, unforgettable successes, mirrors the Taurus way of moving steadily forward until the right moment arrives.

The Sun in Libra gives him a sense of fairness, balance, and dignity. Libra Suns often project charm and grace, though in Sunny’s case, it manifests less in flamboyance and more in an understated charisma. This placement, combined with his good looks inherited from his father, the legendary Dharmendra, explains the warmth and appeal that made him a natural star. Yet Libra’s tendency to weigh options endlessly perhaps explains why he sometimes lacked the sharp strategizing required to maneuver through the cut-throat world of Bollywood.

His Moon in Aries reveals his inner temperament—fiery, impulsive, and emotionally direct. It explains his screen persona of raw intensity and explosive energy, especially in action and courtroom scenes. The famous “Tarikh Pe Tarikh” monologue in Damini or the handpump scene in Gadar carry the stamp of an Aries Moon: passion that bursts forth unfiltered, electrifying audiences.

Sunny Deol’s Career Can Be Summed Up With The Phrase ““Sau Sonar Ki, Ek Lohar Ki” ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Mars in Aquarius provides a different shade to his energy. Mars here is unconventional, driven by ideals and independence. Sunny has often stood apart from the mainstream, choosing not to chase glamour or cultivate the PR games that define stardom. Instead, he has charted his own path, sometimes seeming aloof or detached from industry politics – a classic Aquarian Mars trait. The opposition of Mars to Venus adds a tension between assertiveness and softness: the fiery action hero versus the gentle, romantic man. This duality has often shown up in his roles, and in real life, it underlines his straightforward but sometimes contradictory approach to relationships and the industry.

Mercury in Virgo gives him an analytical mind and attention to detail. Virgo Mercury natives often dislike fluff and prefer practicality, which reflects in Sunny’s straightforward communication style. He is not one to indulge in elaborate self-promotion or diplomacy – his words, much like his actions, tend to be plain and direct

Jupiter conjunct Venus in Leo is one of the strongest combinations in his chart, blessing him with charisma, generosity, and the ability to win mass adulation. Venus in Leo gives him glamour and an affinity for grand, larger-than-life roles, while Jupiter magnifies this energy. This conjunction is a hallmark of someone who can, at the right time, capture the collective imagination of millions – and it explains why when Sunny delivers a hit, it is not just a hit but a phenomenon like Ghayal or Gadar. The same conjunction also bestows a certain nobility, which is why his screen image has often leaned towards the righteous, morally upright hero.

Saturn in Scorpio, conjunct Rahu, and opposite Ketu, is a heavy karmic axis in his chart. It suggests deep struggles, delays, and challenges that repeatedly test him. Saturn with Rahu often indicates periods of being misunderstood, setbacks, or a sense of being out of step with the system. This aspect resonates with Sunny’s career trajectory, where, despite huge blockbusters, he could not always sustain momentum or capitalize on success the way others did. Saturn opposing Ketu adds to this theme of karmic trials, but also hints at the capacity for eventual resurgence after prolonged struggles. The spectacular comeback of Gadar 2 after years of being written off is a vivid expression of this placement. Saturn’s slow grind ultimately delivers rewards that are monumental and enduring.

Uranus in Cancer adds a touch of unpredictability in emotional matters and family dynamics. It may explain why he has often chosen privacy and distance from the film industry’s social circles, preferring to keep his personal life guarded. Neptune in Libra lends idealism, and perhaps a certain disillusionment, to his relationships and professional alliances. Pluto in Leo adds intensity to his presence, making him larger-than-life on screen and unforgettable in roles that tap into primal emotions like rage, patriotism, and justice.

Taken together, Sunny Deol’s chart is that of a man built for endurance rather than constant success. His Taurus ascendant gives him persistence, his Aries Moon supplies fiery emotional expression, and his Venus-Jupiter conjunction ensures moments of glory that are unmatched. Yet the Saturn-Rahu-Ketu axis shows why his career has been punctuated by long silences and setbacks. He is not suited to manipulation or calculated maneuvering – instead, his destiny is to lie low for stretches and then re-emerge with epoch-making triumphs that overshadow everything else.

Sunny Deol made his debut with Betaab in 1983 – a spectacular success that instantly marked him as a star to watch, during the Sun dasha, Moon bhukti. Blessed with the striking looks and magnetic screen presence inherited from his father, Dharmendra, Sunny made an immediate impact. In those days, nepotism wasn’t the buzzword it has become today, and star kids were often launched without much debate. But in Sunny’s case, it wouldn’t have mattered because his talent and screen charisma were strong enough to make their own mark.

In 1985, Arjun, released during the Sun dasha, Jupiter bhukti, became a major success and marked the point where Sunny Deol began to be taken seriously as an actor. The film struck a chord with the masses and gave him a strong identity on screen. Much of Sunny’s work through the 1980s, during his Sun dasha, reflected the popular tastes of the era – crime thrillers and vendetta dramas that showcased his intensity and rugged charm. His performance in Dacait (1987), released during the Sun dasha, Mercury bhukti, was widely appreciated, while Tridev (1989), released as soon as the Moon dasha began, turned into a massive hit, cementing his reputation as a bankable star.

The real turning point, however, came with Ghayal (1990), released during the Moon dasha, Rahubhukti. It was the directorial debut of Rajkumar Santoshi. A major blockbuster, Ghayal gave Sunny Deol one of his most memorable roles. His raw, fiery performance resonated powerfully with audiences, and many of its scenes and dialogues went on to achieve iconic status, retaining their recall value even decades later. So impactful was the film that it was re-released multiple times after its initial run, each time drawing audiences and earning solid collections at the box office. Sunny Deol’s powerful performance in Ghayal didn’t just win over audiences – it also earned him critical acclaim at the highest level. He was honoured with the National Film Award – Special Jury Award /Special Mention (Feature Film) for his raw, intense portrayal of a man fighting against injustice. The recognition cemented his reputation as not just an action star but also a serious actor capable of depth and gravitas. It was a milestone moment, showing that his talent could command respect across both the box office and the world of critics.

Damini (1993), released during the Moon dasha, Saturn bhukti, was another defining turning point in Sunny Deol’s career. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film was built around Meenakshi Seshadri’s character, but it was Sunny who stole the show as the alcoholic lawyer seeking redemption. His searing performance elevated the film, and the iconic “Tarikh Pe Tarikh” courtroom monologue became etched in Bollywood history. For this role, Sunny Deol earned his second National Film Award – this time for Best Supporting Actor – adding to the Special Jury Award he had earlier received for Ghayal. These back-to-back honours underscored his ability to combine mass appeal with critical recognition.

The 1990s marked a vibrant and highly successful phase for him. He had firmly established himself as a bankable star with a loyal fan base. Films like Imtihaan, Jeet, Ghatak, Ajay, and Ziddi all scored at the box office, reinforcing his reputation as a powerhouse of action and intensity. Then came Border (1997), released during the Moon dasha, Venus bhukti, which turned into one of the biggest blockbusters of the decade—a patriotic epic that further cemented Sunny Deol’s place among Bollywood’s most iconic leading men.

Darr (1993), released during the Moon dasha, Saturn bhukti, was a success, but it was Shah Rukh Khan who walked away with the spotlight, thanks to an author-backed role and the unwavering support of Yash Chopra. The fallout led to a rift between Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan – a rift that astonishingly lasted an entire Saturn cycle of nearly 30 years. True to Saturn’s nature, it was only with the passage of time, patience, and karmic closure that old wounds were finally resolved, bringing their equation full circle.

Sunny Deol also turned director with Dillagi (1999), released during the Mars dasha, Rahu bhukti, a project close to his heart in which he starred alongside his brother Bobby Deol and Urmila Matondkar. However, the film was plagued by delays and production hurdles that dragged on for years before its release. By the time it finally hit the screens, audience tastes had shifted, and despite its emotional depth and earnest storytelling, Dillagi struggled to find commercial success. For Sunny, it was a personal effort that didn’t translate into box office numbers, underscoring the unpredictable nature of the industry.

Sunny Deol’s real peak came when no one expected it. In 2001, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha looked like a gamble. Partition felt like ancient history to post-liberalization India, already mined by Buniyaad and arthouse cinema. It didn’t scream “mass entertainer.” The industry’s attention was on the NRI generation, and Sunny’s film was releasing the same day as Aamir Khan’s ambitious Lagaan.

Sunny Deol’s Gadar Took Bollywood Storm ( Photo Credit – YouTube )

Then came the storm. Gadar erupted like a tsunami – Aamir himself used that word – and smashed its way into history as one of the biggest blockbusters of all time. It joined the hallowed ranks of Sholay, DDLJ, and Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!. Demand was so frenzied that theaters ran shows at 5 a.m. and midnight. Villagers arrived on tractors in droves, turning cinema screenings into celebrations. Gadar released during the Mars dasha, Saturn bhukti.

But while Gadar rewrote box-office records, Sunny couldn’t ride its momentum the way others might have. His chart explains it: he is a straight arrow, honest and direct, not the type to scheme or maneuver his way to the top in an industry that often rewards craftiness as much as talent.

After the thunderous success of Gadar, Sunny Deol’s career gradually began to lose steam after the Rahu dasha began at the end of 2005. Barring Apne (2007), Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011), and its sequel Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (2013) – all home productions featuring Sunny alongside brother Bobby Deol and father Dharmendra – nothing truly lit up the box office. In 2016, during the Rahu dasha, Mercury bhukti, he returned to direction with Ghayal Once Again, the much-anticipated sequel to his landmark hit. But despite high expectations, it fizzled out commercially. Other projects, such as Mohalla Assi and I Love NY, suffered repeated delays, which further crippled their chances.

Politics, too, found its way into Sunny Deol’s journey, much like it had for his father, Dharmendra, who once served as a Member of Parliament. In May 2019, Sunny contested the Lok Sabha elections from Gurdaspur, Punjab, on a BJP ticket and won, becoming a Member of Parliament. The timing coincided with his Rahu dasha, Venus bhukti. Yet, for all his popularity, his straightforward, no-nonsense personality has never quite aligned with the maneuvering, tact, and constant networking that politics demands. While the win added another dimension to his public life, it was clear that politics was not a natural fit for him, and he chose not to run in 2024 when his term ended.

By 2022, when R. Balki’s Chup: Revenge of the Artist collected a little over ₹13 crore on a budget of ₹25 crore, another flop was added to the growing list. The industry had almost written him off as a leading man.

Meanwhile, Gadar 2 was quietly in the making. Director Anil Sharma spoke with confidence about the film, but few in the industry took it seriously. For years, the iconic handpump scene from Gadar had been parodied endlessly on TV, and Gadar 2 became the butt of jokes. Who would want to watch a sequel after two decades? They scoffed, especially with Sunny, who is now in his sixties. The younger generation, many argued, barely knew the original, and Partition was just a page from their history textbooks.

In March 2023, five months before release, I wrote on Twitter: “This is the year of Sunny’s comeback. Astrologically, it seems that ‘Gadar 2’ will be a box office success. August 2023 will be a turning point for him.”

What followed was nothing short of surreal. Gadar 2, released during the Rahu dasha, Mars bhukti, stormed the box office and silenced every skeptic. It opened to a staggering ₹40 crore on day one -nearly three times the lifetime collection of Sunny’s previous release – and closed its first week at an astonishing ₹284 crore net. The film industry was left stunned. By the end of its run, Gadar 2 had amassed an extraordinary ₹685 crore worldwide, more than the combined collections of Sunny Deol’s films from the past two decades. It was one of the most spectacular comebacks Indian cinema has ever seen. Sau Sonar ki, Ek Lohar ki.

Ahead, Sunny has an impressive slate of films lined up: Lahore 1947, where he shares screen space with Aamir Khan; Ramayana, in which he takes on the role of Lord Hanuman alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Yash; and, most anticipated of all, Gadar 3.

Sunny Deol has been in his Jupiter dasha since the end of 2023, and it will continue till 2039. He entered his Sade Sati earlier this year – the seven-and-a-half-year Saturn transit that often brings trials, tests, and the need for transformation. While it can be a challenging phase, Sade Sati also rewards those who adapt and evolve, and the rewards Saturn bestows tend to be lasting. In Sunny’s chart, Saturn rules the tenth house of career, making this transit especially significant for his professional journey. Filmmaking has changed radically in the four decades since his debut, and true to Saturn’s lessons, Sunny is making adjustments. In this new innings, he has shown a more contemporary side – occasionally active on social media, giving interviews, and appearing on television shows to discuss his work. This renewed proactiveness marks a distinct shift from his earlier, more reserved approach. His latest release, Jaat (2025), earned over ₹120 crore worldwide – a respectable figure for a non-franchise film, though naturally no comparison to the hurricane that was Gadar 2.

Sunny Deol’s chart indicates a power-packed phase ahead. Creative collaborations are likely to begin from the last week of August 2025 and continue through September, though expenses may also rise during this time. November 2025 could bring fresh partnerships, possibly with a major corporation at a distance, and his work is likely to be well-received. January 2026, particularly in its second half, is set to begin on a high note with multiple collaborations and significant financial gains. March 2026 also brings career opportunities, though Mercury retrograde may cause some confusion.

From the last week of March to the end of April 2026, a spectacular phase unfolds that may manifest as a major film release, a multi-film deal, or collaborations that yield tremendous wealth, with outside entities playing a key role. In April and May 2026, the focus may shift to repaying debts or refinancing loans. Between mid-June and mid-August 2026, multiple investments or asset acquisitions are likely, ranging from real estate and vehicles to business ventures, followed by the sale of assets in the second half of August. The next year promises to be a decisive turning point, marked by powerful creative highs and landmark financial gains.

‘I Used To Sweep The Set of An Ad Under The Feet of Actors’, Kayoze Irani Opened Up On His Internship Struggles

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

This year seems to be the debut year of Bollywood nepo kids after Ahaan Panday and Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan. Now, actor Boman Irani’s son Kayoze Irani has also made his debut as a director with the film Sarzameen. But he has carved his niche in the film industry before this. Kayoze Irani attended an interview in which he said, ‘I think I am not a thinker, so I cannot make any big claim. But I think that when you make a film where you are sharing something from your life, then honesty comes into your film’.

Kayoze Irani

Kayoze further said, ‘When that honesty comes, the film itself becomes good. See where to put the camera of the film, how the craft should be, it can happen, but the story is king. Your script should be strong; otherwise, no one can save you.’ Talking about the hard work to get fame and success in the industry, Kayoze said, ‘You have to work very hard. I am the son of a big actor, but I started as an intern. In my first job, I had to sweep the set of an ad film. So I used to clean the set by getting under the actor’s feet.’

Kayoze Irani

Talking about the differences with his father, Bama Irani, Kayoze said, ‘There is a lot of love in my house. I get so much love from my mother, but I feel that a child wants to be like his father. We have different thoughts on some topics with Papa, but our friendship is very strong. Whenever we talk, everyone listens to each other, but when Papa gives his opinion, it is just an opinion; he does not say that this is how it should be. That means we have the freedom to express our views and follow them.’

Kayoze Irani

Talking about casting Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Ibrahim Ali Khan in his first directorial film ‘Sarzameen’, he says, ‘I never felt that I am working with such big stars like Kajol ma’am and Prithviraj sir. They have given me a lot of respect. They made it very easy for me to make this film. They helped me a lot. As far as today’s generation is concerned, we are in the era of social media.’

Watford Colosseum officially reopened on Friday 29th August with a monumental performance by Ocean Colour Scene marking the beginning of a bold new chapter. The 40,000 square-foot space managed by AEG Presents on behalf of Watford Borough Council provides the region with a much needed world class entertainment venue. The reopening of is expected to have a significant positive impact on the local economy, creating new jobs, boosting tourism, and reinvigorating the night-time economy.

Closed since 2020 and following an extensive multi-million-pound refurbishment by Watford City Council the Colosseum welcomed music fans on Friday night to experience a transformed space that blends state-of-the-art acoustics with heritage preservation honouring the venue’s distinctive architectural character. The refurbishment includes the installation of a brand-new stage, extensive upgrades to the bar areas and visitor facilities, and the reopening of the building’s iconic 1930s main entrance.

The Colosseum is the newest addition to the AEG Presents UK mid-sized venue expansion and joins the portfolio which includes Eventim Apollo, indigo at The O2 and University of Wolverhampton at The Halls with a new venue as part of the London Olympia redevelopment set to open next year.

With the successful launch event behind them, the team at Watford Colosseum is focused on delivering a best-in-class experience for artists and fans alike. Lisa Mart, General Manager Watford Colosseum said “Great venues bring people together for special moments and that’s exactly what happened on our opening night. Ocean Colour Scene were fantastic as were the fans and it was an incredible atmosphere. Myself and the team are very proud of both the venue and the line up of artists we have set to play here and can’t wait for the next shows!”

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “The reopening of the Colosseum with Ocean Colour Scene was a brilliant success and a great way to start this new chapter for one of Watford’s most loved venues. The refurbishment has carefully preserved the world-class acoustics while updating the building so this Grade II listed landmark can be enjoyed for years to come.

“With AEG Presents UK, well known for running excellent venues and live performances, we can look forward to more exciting acts, including Electric Umbrella, Jools Holland, The Stranglers and David Essex. The renewed Colosseum will host leading national talent as well as community events, making it one of the region’s standout destinations for entertainment.”

Kamala Harris Set To Lose Secret Service Protection Sept 1; Newsom Steps In

by jummy84 September 1, 2025
written by jummy84

With the looming termination of Kamala Harris‘s Secret Service protection in the next few hours, the security of the former Vice President of the United States has become the latest battlefront in the political war between Gavin Newsom and Donald Trump.

About to start a 15-date book tour on September 24, one day after her 2024 campaign memoir 107 Days comes out, the ex-VP saw Trump revoke her extended Secret Service protection on August 28.

The usual six months of Secret Service protection an ex-Veep receives had been extended to 18 months by Joe Biden in the last days of his presidency for his former running mate. That semi-secret order came in no small part I’m told by the threats the first woman and first person of color to hold the office had been subjected to in the pretty polarized America we live in.

Not the first and likely not the last of the former Celebrity Apprentice host’s such moves against rivals and critics, Trump ended all that in a very short letter last week to the Department of Homeland Security: “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris.”

This isn’t the first hit Trump has taken at Harris since taking office again. Back in the spring, Trump pulled the former VP’s security clearance, along with those of Joe Biden Hilary Clinton and others

Circumspect to a fault as always, Harris’ office kept its public reaction short. “The Vice President is grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety,” Harris aide Kirsten Allen said of the end of the protection detail by Trump. Harris’ office did not respond to a further request Deadline for comment today.

However, that initial curt response may be in part because it appears that persistent Trump troller Newsom, who has taken on the role of Leader of the Opposition in the minds of many against POTUS’ increasingly authoritarian rule, has ordered a security arrangement for his long time ally Harris. Nothing has been made public yet, but reports that the California Highway Patrol, will take over protection tomorrow for Harris have been confirmed to Deadline by law enforcement sources.

“Our office does not comment on security arrangements,” Gov Newsom’s Communications chief Izzy Gardon has said, holding the official line. “The safety of our public officials should never be subject to erratic, vindictive political impulses,” he added.

Still, in what a state insider termed “a matter of conscience and decency, as well as an effort to diminish Trump” by Newsom, a combination of CHP and LAPD protection for Harris has been given the greet light.

To that, the former Veep will have the protection level that a dignitary like the Governor, First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom and Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis enjoy. While an insider cautioned not to read too much into it, there is no word on how long the CHP and LAPD protection for Harris, who recently announced she would not run for Governor of the Golden State in 2026, will last. Discussions about protection for the former VP when the ex-state Attorney General and Senator is traveling outside California are ongoing and “complicated,” I’m told.

Kicking off in NYC late next month, Harris’ 107 Days book tour has only two stops in her home state right now. The 2024 Democratic Party candidate for President will be at LA’s Wiltern on September 29 and in San Francisco on October 5. The tour ends in Miami just before Thanksgiving on November 20.

It should be noted that CHP officers played a contentious role containing and arresting protestors on the streets of DTLA back in June. They also played a widely applauded role in maintaining order in the aftermath of the devastating wildfires that ravaged LA in January.

Contacted by Deadline, the Secret Service, which is a part of DHS, referred us to the White House for comment and clarification on the whys and hows of the discontinuation of Harris’ detail so soon before she is about to make her first significant public appearances since leaving office on January 20. The White House did not respond our request for comment or insights into Trump’s seemingly sudden and very public swipe at his 2024 election opponent.

Yet, with a preamble of political neutrality, more than one federal law enforcement official told Deadline that Trump’s yanking of Harris’ detail was no more unusual that the extension the ex-VP had been given. In fact, there were no reports of significant threats against Harris, sources says. There were, however, some concerns her upcoming nationwide book tour, which also has stops in Canada and the UK, could strain her detail.

Six months of Secret Service has been the norm for Vice Presidents since Congress legislated the protection in 2008. While past VPs like Al Gore have asked for extensions of their agent detail, it was President Barack Obama’s executive order for Dick Cheney in 2009 that truly put the process in motion. Cheney, called Darth Vader by many for his ruthlessness, was granted a further six months by DHS that saw him covered until January 2010. He currently has no Secret Service protection, nor does Trump’s first VP Mike Pence, who was denied an extension by the Biden administration.

There is also another factor that plays into all this underneath the partisan rancor, one federal law enforcement source stated. “Don’t forget about the U.N.,” he said deadpan.

In less than 10 days, the U.N. General Assembly is set to begin in New York City, with leaders from all over the world in attendance and Trump scheduled to his first speech to the organization since returning to office. “it’s a heavy lift, with over 100 heads of state receiving Secret Service protection,” the source said, noting how the September 9 – 29 U.N. General Assembly requires extra resources and agents be pulled from all over the DHS unit.

Still, already in the anti-Trump trenches over the masked ICE raids and abductions that the administration unleashed purposefully on LA earlier this year and the stationing of troops in the city over protests following the detentions of the undocumented, green card holders and some US citizens, Mayor Karen Bass quickly said what many thought of the Trump action against Harris. The ex-Congresswoman and longtime Harris ally called the move late last week “another act of revenge following a long list of political retaliation” by Trump. “This puts the former Vice President in danger and I look forward to working with the governor to make sure Vice President Harris is safe in Los Angeles.”

A Hollywood producer who has been a major donor to Democrats over the years, was a big contributor to Harris’ short campaign last year, and is no big fan of Bass vehemently seconded the Mayor’s remarks by calling Trump “a would-be dictator who thinks he can bully and scare everyone into submission.” The deep-pocketed producer added Trump “clearly doesn’t know Kamala Harris very well if he thinks that’s going to work.”

As the Secret Service pull their agents (some of whom have been with the former VP since the 202 campaign) and equipment out of Harris’ Brentwood home tonight ahead of that September 1 deadline, state officers from CHP’s Dignitary Protection Unit are already moving in place, I’m told.

That’s just step one.

“DPS also provides, as directed, protective services to national and international dignitaries who are visiting California on official business,” the unit says of its mission. “This includes: the advance security assessments of sites and locations to be visited, safe and secure transportation, protection at designated venues, collaboration with allied agency law enforcement, and other services as required.”

In short, it’s no Secret Service, but its not nothin’

Aside from four years at the VP’s official home at the Naval Observatory in Washington DC, Harris and her husband, ex-Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff (who lost his Secret Service detail a couple of months ago too) have had their house on the West Side of LA as their primary personal residence for years. That house has had a Secret Service presence since 2021. That protection didn’t seem to stop two individuals all in black from getting onto Harris’ property in the early morning last January during the wildfires curfew. Harris herself was not at the house and LAPD were called to the scene and detained the duo.

A state of affairs that will now be the new normal for the ex-Veep.

For the record, former Presidents Clinton, Bush, Obama and Biden have lifetime Secret Service protection, for now.
