Daily Wire’s ‘Pendragon Cycle’ Fantasy Series Gets Trailer

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

The Daily Wire has released a trailer for its first live-action scripted series, The Pendragon Cycle: Rise of the Merlin.

The fantasy drama, based on a series of novels by Stephen R. Lawhead, is set to premiere Jan. 22 on DailyWire+, the conservative outlet’s SVOD platform. The show, created and executive produced by Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing (who also directed some of the series), is a retelling of Arthurian legend that’s set in the Roman-dominated land that will eventually become Britain during the fourth through sixth centuries.

Watch the trailer below.

In a statement, Boreing said The Pendragon Cycle is “the culmination of a 10-year vision to create culture, not just to criticize it. Lawhead’s novels present a visceral, masculine Christianity in a world of conflict and mystery. It isn’t saccharine or clean. In short, it is very much like our world. I’m so happy to share our adaptation, and the work of our remarkable cast and crew, with the Daily Wire audience.”

The Daily Wire has produced a number of feature films (both scripted and documentary) and a couple of animated series, but The Pendragon Cycle represents the biggest swing for the company, which Boreing founded with Ben Shapiro, in the TV arena.

Tom Sharp stars as Merlin in the series. The cast also includes Rose Reid, James Arden, Finney Cassidy, Myles Clohessy, Brett Cooper, Alex Laurence Phillips, Daniel Fathers and Emree Franklin.

Boreing executive produces with Shapiro, Daily Wire CEO Caleb Robinson Dallas Sonnier of Bonfire Legend, Daniel Kresmery of Hero Squared, and Ryan Whitaker for Tirian Films. Producers are Travis Mills, Jonathan Hay, Amanda Presmyk, Jonathan Halperyn, Jerilyn Esquibel, Augusto Pelliccia, Julius Nasso and Lawhead. Whitaker and Jesse V. Johnson also directed episodes of the series.

“This repulsive creature played so exquisitely.” Sky TV has revealed a first look teaser trailer for Amadeus, a new series that is basically a remake of the Oscar-winning 1984 movie of the same name. Everyone in the entertainment is making series based on famous movies because it’s easier to get the rights for a series than it is to make another movie. Though it’s also a direct adaptation of the original 1979 play by Peter Shaffer. A 25-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart arrives in Vienna, Austria, during the 18th century where he meets a young singer who will become his wife (Constanze Mozart) and by way of her, the court composer Antonio Salieri. Starring Will Sharpe (seen in A Real Pain) as musical prodigy Wolfgang “Amadeus” Mozart, Paul Bettany as envious court composer Antonio Salieri, and Gabrielle Creevy as Constanze Weber, Mozart’s fiercely loyal wife. Also featuring Rory Kinnear as Emperor Joseph, Lucy Cohu, Jonathan Aris, Ényì Okoronkwo, and Jessica Alexander. This will be streaming in the UK this December, though no details on the US debut yet. So far so good, this looks as spunky and rebellious as the beloved movie. Check it out.

Here’s the first look teaser trailer for Joe Barton’s series Amadeus, direct from Sky TV’s YouTube:

Amadeus Series Teaser

Amadeus Series Teaser

When 25-year-old Amadeus (Will Sharpe) arrives in bustling Vienna in the 18th Century, no longer a child prodigy and craving creative freedom, his world collides with two pivotal figures: his fiercely loyal future wife, Constanze Weber (Gabrielle Creevy), and devoutly religious court composer, Antonio Salieri (Paul Bettany). Based on Peter Shaffer’s award-winning stage play, this spectacular five-part reimagination explores the meteoric rise and mythic downfall of one of history’s most iconic composers — and rockstar virtuoso of the 18th century, Wolfgang “Amadeus” Mozart. Amadeus is a mini-series created and written by screenwriter Joe Barton (of The Ritual, My Days of Mercy, Encounter, The Union, “The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself”, “The Lazarus Project”, “Black Doves”). It’s also co-created by Julian Farino. Based on the original Amadeus play by Peter Shaffer first performed in 1979. With episodes directed by Julian Farino and Alice Seabright. Produced by Sky Studios. Executive produced by Paul Gilbert, Megan Spanjian, Michael Jackson, Will Sharpe, Julian Farino, Stephen Wright. Sky will debut their new Amadeus series streaming on Sky TV starting December 2025 this year. No info on a US release just yet – stay tuned. Who’s interested?

Sky Nick Cave Novel Series ‘Bunny Munro’ With Matt Smith in LFF Focus

by jummy84 October 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Sky’s six-episode adaptation of the Nick Cave novel The Death of Bunny Munro, starring Doctor Who and House of the Dragon star Matt Smith, was in the BFI London Film Festival (LFF) spotlight on Monday.

Director Isabella Eklöf (Kalak, Holiday, Industry seasons 2 and 3), BAFTA-winning writer Pete Jackson (Somewhere Boy) and producer Ed Macdonald from Clerkenwell Films (Baby Reindeer, The End of the F***ing World) discussed the show during a panel entitled “From Book to Screen: The Death of Bunny Munro,” programmed in collaboration with the Edinburgh TV Festival and hosted by its creative director Rowan Woods.

Rafael Mathé plays the nine-year-old son, Bunny Junior. “Following his wife Libby’s death by suicide, sex addicted, door-to-door beauty product salesman and self-professed lothario Bunny Munro finds himself saddled with a young son and only a loose concept of parenting,” a synopsis for the series reads. “Together with Bunny Junior he embarks on an epic and increasingly out-of-control road trip across southern England as the two struggle to contain their grief in very different ways.”

Monday’s panel covered the optioning of the novel, its adaptation, the choice of director, casting and the visual approach to the story and the creative choices to bring the father-and-son relationship to the screen.

Eklöf was asked about the stylistic influences, sharing: “Ultimately, everything is instinct; everything is finding that angle where you are seeing the magic. But we did have some overarching principles.”

Some of them may be more obvious than others. “We talked about ‘70s cinema — [John] Cassavetes, [David] Lynch is an obvious reference,” she said. “There was a little bit of Natural Born Killers that you talked about for quite more specific reasons,” added Macdonald. “And then we talked about quite a load of different references. I remember Red Rocket came up. We talked about Apocalypse Now.” And he shared with a laugh that he may have even brought up Bad Santa.

Jackson told panel that he knew right away that adapting Cave’s novel would be a challenge. “My first thought was: ‘I’ve no idea how you do it.’ Great trepidation! I mean, there were floating vaginas on the first page. I love the book to bits.”

The writer continued: “I think what Nick does brilliantly and fearlessly is explore his darker impulses and his secret shames and his mad kind of desires. And in the creative team it was incumbent on us for the end result to be the same thing — to shock and to challenge and confront and also connect.”

Macdonald recalled that Cave has said his inspirations for the novel were a biblical text and the feminist SCUM (for: Society for Cutting Up Men) Manifesto.

How did the creative team avoid objectifying women the way Bunny does? Eklöf‘s answer was to objectify him instead. “Yeah, I really, very actively in my career went for the female gaze, because it’s a visual medium, so you cannot avoid to sexualize your characters,” she explained. “It’s intrinsic. Everyone’s gaze has sex in [it], but the way you make it equal is to objectify the men just as much.”

First published in 2009, Bunny Munro is Cave’s second novel after And the Ass Saw the Angel (1989). The singer is best known as the lead vocalist of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Bunny Munro will premiere on Sky on Nov. 20. Its first two episodes world premiere at LFF on Monday evening.

Showrunner Says the Series Reveals How Prejudice Fuels Evil and Systematic Failure

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Peacock’s Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy tells the chilling true story of a Chicago contractor who hid behind the mask of a friendly neighbor and community volunteer while preying on vulnerable young men and boys. By day, John Wayne Gacy (Michael Chernus) shook hands with officials, attended fundraisers, and performed as “Pogo the Clown.” By night, he murdered (at least) 33 victims between 1972 and 1978, burying most beneath his home.

Based on the 2021 docuseries John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise, the series recounts Gacy’s brutality as it exposes the systemic failures of authorities at the time, when victims from working-class families, immigrant backgrounds, and the gay community were too often dismissed by law enforcement. Devil in Disguise reveals how prejudice and neglect allowed a killer to thrive while the cries of the vulnerable went unheard.

In the series, detectives are often seen victim-blaming and dismissing crucial evidence, revealing a culture of prejudice that allowed Gacy’s crimes to continue unchecked. For example, in Episode 5, one of Gacy’s victims is called a “whore” by the investigating detective Joe Kozenczak (James Badge Dale) because his lack of financial stability forced him to stay with Gacy in his house of horrors. In Episode 8, a victim named Jeffrey (Augustus Prew) is blamed for his own attack due to his alternative lifestyle.

Brooke Palmer / Peacock

Although it may seem like a story rooted in a bygone era, showrunner, writer, and executive producer Patrick Macmanus sees it as a cautionary tale about what happens when those meant to protect and serve look the other way — particularly when it came to the cries of marginalized groups of the times, such as women and LGBTQ+ individuals, the most vulnerable members of society.

“It is honestly sort of the main driving theme of the show,” said Macmanus. “Number one, the shows I’ve worked with before have all been driven by some semblance of systemic failure. It’s something that I am just interested in exploring. This one was absolutely the systemic failure of the police to be able to find and stop Gacy, specifically the Chicago Police Department.”

“Now, part of it was because of communications issues at the time that they were facing, that’s absolutely true,” clarified Macmanus. “But a large part of it was the fact that they were blinded and clouded by prejudice. That is a fact.”

“I want to go on the record as saying that we are in no way, shape or form, demonizing police, because if you look on the flip side of the coin, you’re look you’re watching a whole other story of police who are in that pit every single day for months, trying to unearth and uncover and name every victim that was in John Wayne Gacy’s house. So we are lauding the police as much as we are critiquing and analyzing the failures of the system,” continued Macmanus.

“On the other hand, I believe that this is as relevant to the story as it’s ever been. I think that anybody who thinks that this is a story that time has passed, that we’re exploring some other time in which people were prejudiced and allowed these things to happen, is not paying attention to the world that we currently live in.”

“The world that we currently live in is, at present, driven oftentimes by prejudice,” said Macmanus. “And that prejudice is ultimately a driver of the degradation of our societies, the degradation of our citizens, no matter where they are in the world, and ultimately a driver of violence in our world. And that is fueled by more than anything, by social media.”

“And so I would say that actually, it is more dangerous now than it’s ever been — definitely in my lifetime,” Macmanus concluded.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Stars in Marvel’s ‘Wonder Man’ Series Trailer #1

“I want to explore the place between fiction and non-fiction.” What? Marvel Studios has debuted their first full official trailer for the series called Wonder Man, a MCU spin-off series ready to debut for streaming in January 2026. This comes right after the brief teaser from NYCC – showing us more footage from this odd new superhero(??) series. Hollywood actor Simon Williams is thrust into the world of superheroes as he gets powers of his own, and becomes the new superhero Wonder Man. It’s a meta riff on superhero movies, with a director trying to reinvent them and remake Wonder Man, and he’ll end up casting Yahya in the lead, but this trailer doesn’t get that far yet. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as as Simon Williams / Wonder Man: A super-powered actor and stuntperson who auditions for the lead role in a superhero series. Co-created by Destin Daniel Cretton, the new Wonder Man series also stars Ben Kingsley back as actor Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3, with Demetrius Grosse, Lauren Glazier, Byron Bowers, and more. And featuring Zlatko Buric (who was also in James Gunn’s Superman) as filmmaker Von Kovak. This is such a peculiar concept for Marvel. Will it work? Is anyone really into it? I mean, I’m a big fan of Yahya, but I don’t know…

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Marvel Studios’ next series Wonder Man, from YouTube:

Wonder Man is a meta live-action Disney+ series with a “story about acting and the journey of an actor in Hollywood.” Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as Simon Williams, a working actor who auditions for the lead role in Wonder Man, an upcoming reboot of a classic Wonder Man project from his youth. The story is a two-hander between Simon and Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery, who bond over their shared love of acting. Wonder Man is a series created by filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton (director of Short Term 12, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, “American Born Chinese” series, upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day) and Andrew Guest (writer / producer on “Marry Me”, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, “The Twilight Zone”, “Hawkeye”). Showrun and written by Andrew Guest. And with episodes directed by Destin Daniel Cretton & Stella Meghie (director of Jean of the Joneses, Everything Everything, The Weekend, The Photograph, and series “Insecure”, “Minx”). It’s executive produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Destin Daniel Cretton, Andrew Guest, Jonathan Schwartz. Aryan Khan Series Controversy: Sameer Wankhede’s Family Faces Online Abuse! | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Ex-Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankhede has sued Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix for defamation over the scandalous series The Ba*ds of Bollywood, which he says portrays him in a bad light. The co-created show by Aryan Khan has caused big controversy upon release, with Wankhede claiming that the satire aims not only at him but also demeans the efforts of those who battle drug abuse.

Wankhede had asserted that he had moved the Delhi High Court on his own and not as a government official. “My personal opinion is that there is no relation between my profession or my job and this,” he said, declining further comment on the legal case since it is sub judice.

Wankhede also disclosed that the backlash has moved beyond criticism with hate messages reaching his family from outside India. “We have frequently reported the threats given to my sister and my wife by the police on a regular basis. I will not accept the fact that because of me, they have to bear the brunt of it,” he said, showing alarm over the increasing online abuse faced by his loved ones from nations like Pakistan, the UAE, and Bangladesh.

In reply to the criticism, Aryan Khan came to the defense of the series, saying the show was meant to be satirical, not a documentary. “We were taking liberties with it for screen, naturally, but naturally, there’ll be things that are inspired. There’ll be scenes that are inspired by certain realities, and there’ll be exaggerations,” Aryan said, further adding, “If you don’t like it, the show is not meant for you.”

He admitted there were some scenes that invited internal arguments on the sets, but stood firm on his creative position. “We did receive some notes on some scenes where they were like, ‘Oh, this is too this, or this is too that,’ but then I took a stand,” Aryan said.

The Delhi High Court has also heard Wankhede’s complaint and issued summons to Red Chillies Entertainment, Netflix, X Corp, Google, Meta, and others. The next date for hearing is October 30.

The Ba*ds of Bollywood stars an ensemble cast of Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Manoj Pahwa, and Sahher Bambba, with special guest appearances by Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Disha Patani, and S. S. Rajamouli.

“Have you given any thought about casting?” Why yes it seems he has… Marvel has revealed a very cryptic first look teaser for their upcoming series called Wonder Man, a MCU spin-off series ready to debut for streaming in January 2026. It was revealed during the New York Comic-Con this weekend. Hollywood actor Simon Williams is thrust into the world of superheroes as he gets powers of his own, and becomes the new superhero Wonder Man. This teaser is a meta riff on the story, with the director announcing he’s working on a Wonder Man remake and this one shot of Yahya looking astonished in hopes he might get the role. And featuring Zlatko Buric (who was also in James Gunn’s Superman) as the filmmaker Von Kovak, who looks similar to George Miller in this footage. A curious way to reveal this series – not much actual footage, but I admit they got my attention. I’m waiting to view more…

Preschool Series ‘Wadoo’ Set at Mediawan, El Reino Infantil

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

European animation outfit Mediawan Kids & Family has joined forces with El Reino Infantil, the Hispanic world’s top YouTube Kids network, to develop “Wadoo,” a digital-first animated preschool series that will test characters through AI-assisted social media shorts before expanding into a full series.

The comedy-adventure property centers on Wadoo, a curious young dragoness who leads preschoolers on musical journeys through a magical world. Each of the planned 39 seven-minute episodes will blend discovery, friendship and environmental themes, culminating in original songs that reinforce the episode’s lesson.

The partnership represents Mediawan Kids & Family’s strategic push into animation based on digital-first properties, bridging traditional production expertise with El Reino Infantil’s massive online reach of over 222 million YouTube subscribers across 11 languages.

“We are thrilled to join forces with El Reino Infantil, a leading digital player, to launch Wadoo, a truly innovative preschool IP designed with the new generation of audiences in mind,” said Julien Borde, president of Mediawan Kids & Family. “This collaboration marks a major strategic step in our ambition to combine the best of digital creativity with the excellence of traditional production.”

The project will roll out through an extensive soft-launch strategy, beginning with social media shorts released on El Reino Infantil’s channel to test character designs and storytelling approaches. These shorts will utilize AI tools to enhance artists’ creative capabilities while maintaining creative control with the production teams.

“At a time when children’s entertainment is undergoing major transformation, this alliance with Mediawan Kids & Family has the potential to redefine how brands that resonate with new generations are built,” said Roberto “Kuky” Pumar, CEO of El Reino Infantil. “From this convergence comes Wadoo: a project designed for a present where digital and physical coexist in a phygital universe. Today, success is collaborative.”

Following audience analytics and community feedback from the shorts, the full 39-episode series is scheduled for release in 2026, combining YouTube distribution with international broadcast through Mediawan Kids & Family Distribution. The producers aim to build a comprehensive transmedia franchise following models established by hits like “Miraculous” and “La Granja de Zenon.”

Nicolas Fisch from Mediawan Kids & Family and Ylka Tapia from El Reino Infantil will serve as executive producers.

Mediawan Kids & Family, the children’s division of pan-European studio Mediawan, houses production labels including Method Animation, Somewhere Animation and Elliott Studio, along with international operations in Italy, the U.K. and the Netherlands. The company distributes “Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir” and maintains a catalog of 2,500 half-hours of programming sold to over 150 countries.

El Reino Infantil is known for animated series including “Zenon the Farmer,” “Bichikids” and “The Little Sailor,” while also developing games, merchandise and live shows across Latin America, Asia and Europe.
