Culture at heart of Blue Jays’ World Series run

by jummy84 October 26, 2025

TORONTO – Whether it was at the draft, the trade deadline, or during free agency, Ross Atkins has always emphasized the importance of values during his decade as general manager of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Every time there was a potential addition to the team, Atkins never failed to mention their “high character.”

He believes that policy has paid off in 2025, with the Blue Jays reaching the World Series for the first time in 32 years in large part thanks to their cohesiveness and dedication to each other.

“I’ve always been taught and learned and believed strongly that hiring and identification of — whether it be players, coaches, scouts, anyone that’s helping support the organization — that hiring’s the most important thing we do,” said Atkins during a news conference on Friday before Game 1 of the World Series. “If you do that with values that are important to you, then over time, that’s going to pay off for you.”

Atkins said that centring the team’s personnel policy and the resulting atmosphere is something that he and manager John Schneider actually spoke about earlier in the week.

“The thing that I think about the most is the relationships, the people that we have hired and the people that we have grown with together,” said Atkins, who was hired as the team’s GM in December 2015. “I’ve always felt there’s a big group of people here that I’m working with that will, for sure, be lifelong relationships and lifelong friendships.

“This success — albeit we’re not done, with work to do — not just this year, but well beyond, I think just emboldens that feeling of how powerful these relationships will be.”

Toronto led all of Major League Baseball with 49 come-from-behind wins in the regular season, with 12 of those victories coming when the Blue Jays trailed by at least three runs.

They also rallied from a 2-0 deficit to the Seattle Mariners in the best-of-seven American League Championship Series. The climactic Game 7 in Toronto was capped by George Springer’s three-run homer in the seventh inning, undoing Seattle’s early 3-1 lead in that series finale.

“I think that’s what forms a good team. It’s talent and it’s players, but it’s people,” said Schneider before the World Series began. “I think that we’ve done such a phenomenal job of creating a culture where people are just welcome.

“It’s what we’ve grasped on to, the standard we’ve set. Not just the type of player we want, but the type of people we want in here, too.”

Schneider has been with the Blue Jays organization since 2002 when he was drafted in the 13th round of that year’s draft. He retired from playing after the 2007 season due to three concussions suffered that year, then became a minor-league manager for the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Blue Jays in 2008, working his way up through the franchise’s different levels of ball.

He said that the relationships that have been built in Toronto during Atkins’s tenure has helped create the culture that made the Blue Jays (94-68) playoff run possible.

“I think that when you’re trying to establish a winning environment and a winning organization that can do it repeatedly, that people come into play,” said Schneider. “People that are going to push things forward and not be satisfied.

“Even this year, when we acquired (infielder Andres Gimenez) and signed (Anthony Santander) and signed Max (Scherzer), we were talking about what that would do for people around them too and where the people that we had already were in their career and in their lives.”

Schneider said it was also a factor in July as Major League Baseball’s trade deadline approached and the Blue Jays were gearing up for a deep post-season run.

“It was cool to have those conversations with Ross, understanding what we were doing at the time, and not trying to disrupt that,” said Schneider. “You want to try to add people that are going to help.

“So Seranthony (Dominguez), who is about as selfless as there is, Louis Varland, Ty France, they’re good pieces for what we already have, too. We made it a point to be really aware of it this year and, again, it’s been a couple years in the making to get to this point.”

Varland and France were traded to Toronto by the Minnesota Twins on July 31 for Alan Roden and Kendry Rojas. Varland, who has become a fixture in the Blue Jays bullpen in the post-season, said that the strong culture on his new team was immediately apparent.

“From the coaching staff to the players to the support staff to the chefs, like everybody’s great, everybody’s friendly, welcoming,” he said. “I saw this the other day, ‘the Glue Jays.’

“That’s, like, a perfect way to sum it up. Everybody’s so close and everybody’s a great guy or girl.”

Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and a powerful team of women are leading a fictional newsroom in season 4 of The Morning Show. Each season, the critically acclaimed series has risen the stakes for its characters. From Bradley’s (Witherspoon) family drama to Alex’s (Aniston) complicated relationships and business decisions, the show has introduced more mayhem for its cast. That being said, could we see TMS come back for another round with a season 5?

Below, Hollywood Life has the latest update about the future of The Morning Show.

When Did The Morning Show Season 4 Premiere?

The first episode of season 4 premiered on September 17, 2025.

Is The Morning Show Coming Back for Season 5?

Yes! Apple TV+ renewed The Morning Show for season 5 just before its fourth season premiered. In a statement released by Matt Cherniss, the head of programming at Apple TV+, the studio confirmed the series’ renewal.

“The Morning Show has been a standout from the very start, debuting as one of the flagship series on Apple TV+,” Cherniss boasted. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to see it not only entertain but also resonate with audiences worldwide. Thanks to the outstanding cast and creative team — led by Jennifer, Reese, Charlotte and Mimi — The Morning Show continues to deliver addictively entertaining and provocative stories that we’ve all come to love. We’re excited for viewers to experience the next chapter of this Emmy-winning drama.”

Executive producer Michael Ellenberg chimed in by noting, “It’s an honor to witness the collective talent, passion and commitment of Jen, Reese, Mimi, Charlotte, our partners at Hello Sunshine and Echo Films, and everyone involved in ’The Morning Show,’ and we’re excited to embark on a new season that will give this cast and creative team even more room to shine. We are so grateful to Apple TV+ and the fans around the world who tune in every week, and are so excited for viewers to see this upcoming season and beyond.”

Jennifer reacted to the news by sharing a screenshot of the season 5 announcement to her Instagram Stories. She wrote across the message, “So proud of this team.”

Reese did the same and wrote, “It’s official! So proud to be a part of this amazing team!”

What Is Season 4 About?

Season 4 of The Morning Show explores the dangers of artificial intelligence. The threat of the advanced technology hits close to home for the journalists and workers at UBA and NBN’s newly merged company.

This season begins two years after the events from season 3 when Bradley and her brother, Hal, turned themselves into the FBI for his involvement in the January 6 Capitol attacks. It’s also been two years since Alex broke up with Paul Marks (Jon Hamm) for his corrupt approach to what would have been a takeover of UBA.

“You don’t even know the game you’re playing, do you?” Paramount+ has revealed one final official trailer for the next thrilling season of the West Texas oil series called Landman, created by Taylor Sheridan. The first season dropped in November last year – the second season is already lined up to drop in November this year. The first was a huge hit and Sheridan moves fast – it’s shot entirely on location in Texas and he loves to go big when something clicks with audiences. Billy Bob Thornton is returns again as an oil man in this series based on the “Boomtown” podcast series (and real stories from the oil biz down in Texas). “You think you understand how this business works, but you don’t.” Things are heating up in this season of Landman. Tommy faces new pressures at home and also at M-Tex Oil, where Cami pushes him to the brink. Don’t be surprised if something – or someone – breaks. The returning cast includes Thornton with Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, and James Jordan. Major new roles in Season 2 include Colm Feore, Andy Garcia (from the end of Season 1), and Sam Elliott. This looks even more intense to watch! Crime and corruption and oil go hand-in-hand.

Here’s all three trailers (+ final poster) for Taylor Sheridan’s series Landman – Season 2, from YouTube:

David Chase Is Back at HBO with a New CIA Limited Series

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

“The Sopranos” creator David Chase is back on television and back on the home of “The Sopranos” with HBO. Chase has optioned a non-fiction book about a dark period in the history of the CIA and will adapt it as a limited series for HBO.

The series is called “Project: MKUltra” and is based on John Lisle’s book “Project Mind Control: Sidney Gottlieb, the CIA, and the Tragedy of MKULTRA.” Published earlier this year, the book dives into the work of Sidney Gottlieb, an infamous chemist and spymaster at the CIA known as The Black Sorcerer. Gottlieb headed the MKUltra Psychedelic program, which conducted dangerous and deadly mind control experiments on willing–and unwilling–subjects during the height of the Cold War. Gottlieb is also known as the unwitting godfather of the entire LSD counterculture. After Gottlieb’s retirement in 1973, he incinerated all of his files, but Lisle uncovered previously hidden testimony and depositions that informed the accounts in the book.

Bill Skarsgård in 'Welcome to Derry' as Pennywise the Clown from 'It'

The series is executive produced by David Chase and Nicole Lambert for Riverain Pictures, where Lambert serves as Head of Production and Development.

Chase concluded “The Sopranos” in 2007, and he since wrote the 2012 film “Not Fade Away” and the “Sopranos” prequel movie “The Many Saints of Newark” from 2021, but this is his proper return to television and the network that made him a legend. HBO in 2022 indicated he was done with “The Sopranos” and that any rumors of a reunion weren’t happening. And in 2024, upon the 25th anniversary of the start of “The Sopranos,” he considered the Golden Age of TV officially over, with the show’s anniversary marking a funeral of sorts for the gritty, sophisticated, and ambitious television that “The Sopranos” helped pioneer.

Clearly though Chase, now 80, isn’t done with television just yet. He’s even still kicking around an indie film project that hopes to shoot early next year, though no details on that one either. Chase has 7 Primetime Emmys, including five of them for his work on “The Sopranos.”

Chase is represented by UTA, Untitled, Gendler Kelly & Cunningham and 42West.

Deadline first reported the news.

Watch Tame Impala Perform ‘My Old Ways,’ ‘Dracula’ for A24 Live Series

by jummy84 October 22, 2025

The set, directed by filmmaker Sean Durkin, featured three songs from the group’s new LP, Deadbeat

Tame Impala showcased three songs off their new album Deadbeat for A24‘s “Sound Check” live series. The set, held at New York’s Cherry Lane Theatre and directed by The Iron Claw filmmaker Sean Durkin, featured renditions of “My Old Ways,” “Dracula,” and “Loser.”

The Australian group, led by Kevin Parker, set up on the empty theater’s stage in a circle to perform the sprawling tracks. The performance stayed largely true to the album, released last week, focusing on its psychedelic rock vibe. Durkin gave the clip a moody feel with low lighting that kept the musicians in the shadows on the stage for some of the performance.

Deadbeat is Tame Impala’s highly-anticipated fifth studio album. Last week, Parker and company visited NPR’s Tiny Desk to deliver the band’s first-ever all-acoustic performance. Armed with six acoustic guitars — one of which was used as the percussion — Tame Impala played four songs over 20 minutes, opening with The Slow Rush’s “Borderline” before performing two tracks off Deadbeat, “Loser” and “Dracula.”

Parker previously described his long-awaited follow-up to 2020’s The Slow Rush as “kind of a future primitive rave act,” and an accompanying press release for Deadbeat reiterated that compelling musical aesthetic, citing Western Australia’s rave scene and bush doof culture as inspiration.

Tame Impala will hit the road later this month on their six-city U.S. tour in support of Deadbeat, beginning Oct. 27 with a four-night stand at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and concluding Nov. 17 with the third of three gigs at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum.

‘Prison Break’ Reboot Gets Hulu Series Order

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Hulu is heading into — and then out of, presumably — the big house.

The Disney-owned streamer has greenlit an update of the 2000s Fox series Prison Break. The series, in development for the better part of two years, comes from Mayans MC co-creator Elgin James, who will serve as showrunner after writing and directing the pilot episode.

While the new Prison Break will be set in the same world as the prior show, it will follow a new cast of characters. Emily Browning, Drake Rodger, Lukas Gage, Clayton Cardenas, JR Bourne, Georgie Flores and Myles Bullock star.

The series will center on Browning’s character, an ex-soldier turned corrections officer who, per the show’s logline, “takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves.”

Prison Break comes from 20th Television, which also produced the original series. James executive produces with Paul Scheuring (who created the original series), Dawn Olmstead, Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz. Olmstead, Adelstein and Moritz were also EPs of the original show.

Prison Break premiered on Fox in 2005 and ran for four seasons, then was revived for a nine-episode run in 2017. It starred Wentworth Miller as a man who deliberately has himself incarcerated as part of a plan to break out his wrongfully convicted brother (Dominic Purcell). The show’s cast also featured Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Sarah Wayne Callies, Paul Adelstein, Rockmond Dunbar, Peter Stormare, Robin Tunney, Marshall Allman and William Fichtner. The original series streams on Hulu and Netflix.

“Simon (Nesbitt) had the perfect life: loving wife and kids, great job, beautiful home. But then his eldest daughter Paige ran away, and everything fell apart,” reads a synopsis of the series. “So now, when he finds her, vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park, he finally has the chance to bring his little girl home. But it turns out she’s not alone, and an argument escalates into shocking violence. In the aftermath, Simon loses his daughter all over again, and his search to find her will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever.”

Michael Fassbender to star in Kennedy series

by jummy84 October 20, 2025
written by jummy84

20 October 2025

Michael Fassbender is set to star in a new Netflix show about the Kennedy family.

Michael Fassbender is set to star in the Netflix show

The 48-year-old actor will play Joe Kennedy Sr., the patriarch of the American political dynasty, in Kennedy, an upcoming drama series that explores the family’s intimate truths.

Showrunner and executive producer Sam Shaw told Tudum: “The story of the Kennedys is the closest we have to American mythology — somewhere between Shakespeare and The Bold and the Beautiful.

“But Fredrik Logevall’s stunning, nuanced biography pulls a veil on the human strivings and burdens behind the myth, revealing as much about our present moment, how we got here and where we’re going, as about the Kennedys themselves.

“I’m thrilled to be able to explore this saga of a family and a world in transition with Eric Roth, Thomas Vinterberg and our incredible band of artists and partners, at a moment when our past feels urgently present.”

The upcoming series is inspired by Fredrik Logevall’s book, JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956.

The show will explore “the intimate lives, loves, rivalries and tragedies that shaped the most iconic dynasty in modern history, and helped create the world we live in today”.

Meanwhile, Michael previously confessed to being a “worrywart” during his younger years.

The actor has enjoyed huge success in Hollywood, but he used to struggles with anxieties as a teenager.

He told the Guardian newspaper: “I’d be sitting there going, ‘I’m not worrying about anything – what should I be worrying about?’

“But I’ve tried to work on not doing that. I don’t worry about things I can’t control. I don’t spend much time looking back, because I think it’s pointless. There are mistakes that have been made, perhaps, but mainly it’s just experiences. Things that gnaw at you, that you have no control to change, are pointless. And if you’re not careful, you can start almost to enjoy that self-obsessive martyrdom and self-loathing.

“Things can become patterns that become comfortable, because they become habitual.”

Dr. Dre, Ice-T, Snoop Dogg & Arabian Prince Unite for Animated Crime Series “Tehk City”

Hip-hop icons Dr. Dre, Ice-T, Snoop Dogg, and Arabian Prince are teaming up for an animated action drama titled Tehk City. The project, which Deadline describes as “gritty and stylized,” comes from Ambitious Entertainment and promises to blend street realism with futuristic storytelling.

According to Deadline, Dr. Dre will compose the original score for the series, while each artist will create and perform custom theme music for their respective characters — blending their musical legacies with the show’s dark, cinematic tone.

The voice cast brings serious star power. Ice-T, who also co-created the series alongside Arabian Prince and Tommy the Animator, will voice Mayor Chuck Davis. Snoop Dogg will play Pretty Black, and Arabian Prince will take on the role of Kenyatta Prince.

Additional cast members include Coco as Rhonda Knuckles, Treach as Maniac Maxx, plus appearances from Tracy Morgan, Mike Epps, Busta Rhymes, Roxanne Shanté, and others.

Tehk City is based on the graphic novel Death for Hire: The Origin of Tehk City, which first introduced the gritty underworld that the animated series will now expand. The story follows complex characters navigating power, loyalty, and betrayal in a crime-ridden city — with a soundtrack that reflects hip-hop’s raw edge.

Arabian Prince told Deadline, “Starring the homie Ice-T and a list of stars never before seen in one place, get ready to explore the origin leading up to the animated series of Tehk City — y’all ain’t ready.”

The project marks a major crossover between music and animation, uniting hip-hop’s most legendary voices in a world built from their own cultural influence.
