Dodgers Win 2025 World Series

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

The Los Angeles Dodgers won their second World Series in a row Saturday, with Will Smith’s home run in the 11th inning the difference in a 5-4 victory in a wild Game 7 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. It makes them the first MLB team to repeat as champions in 25 years.

It was the ninth World Series title for the Dodgers franchise, but it wasn’t easy, having to stave off elimination with a win Friday and then coming from behind tonight – both on the road.

Miguel Rojas hit a ninth-inning home run with Toronto two outs from clinching that tied a game the Dodgers had trailed since the third inning after Toronto’s Bo Bichette’s three-run homer against starter Shohei Ohtani. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the third starter coming in for relief after he won Game 6 the night before, then found the strength to hold off the Blue Jays who were looking for their first World Series win since 1993.

Yamomoto pitched a complete game in Game 2 and then six innings Friday to force tonight’s do-or-die game. After Smith’s homer, he got Alejandro Kirk to ground into a game-ending double play to stave off one final Jays rally, and he was named the World Series MVP as part of the post-game celebration on the infield of Toronto’s Rogers Centre.

Bichette’s three-run home run off Dodgers starter Ohtani — going on three days’ rest for only the second time in his career — in the third inning looked for a while to be enough for the Jays, who had been able to put together key hits all series to keep the Dodgers on the ropes.

But after the improbable game-clinching double play from Kiké Hernandez and Rojas to take Game 6, big defensive plays kept the Dodgers within striking distance tonight. In the ninth with the bases loaded with Blue Jays, Rojas fielded a grounder and got a force-out at home to save a run (the Jays would pull off the same feat the next inning). The Dodgers got out of the ninth when Andy Pages, a defensive replacement in center field that same inning, made an acrobatic catch of Ernie Clement’s deep drive that certainly would have won the game for Toronto, snagging the ball as he collided both with the wall and with Hernandez who was charging for it from left field.

The Dodgers, led by the remarkable feats of Ohtani, had been favored going into the best-of-7 series as defending champions and looking for their third World Series title since 2017. Toronto, which won back to back titles in 1992 and 1993, hadn’t won a postseason game since 2016.

Toronto, though, showed it was for real from the start, when they blew out the Dodgers in Game 1 11-4, then recovered to win a pair of games in L.A. after falling short in the record-tying 18-inning Game 3 that gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead in the series.

Game 3 of the 2025 World Series was a showdown at Dodger Stadium last night on Monday, October 27. The Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers fought until the end, with L.A. winning 6-5. Since most east coast fans woke up to the news, many wondered how long the game lasted and what time it actually ended.

Below, find out what time the Dodgers-Blue Jays game ended and how many hours it took.

How Many Innings Did the Dodgers Game Last Against the Blue Jays?

L.A. and Toronto played for 18 innings until the Dodgers finally took home the victory by a slight margin of 6-5.

The game dragged on through all those innings of tense stalemate and powerful endurance by all the players. Teams on both sides left runner after runner stranded. With the game tied 5-5 at the bottom of the 18th inning, Freddie Freeman got a walk-off home run to seal the 6-5 victory for L.A., giving them a 2-1 World Series lead.

‘High Potential’ Pays Tribute To Original Series’ Co-Creator Nicholas Jean

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

High Potential paid tribute to Nicolas Jean during the closing credits of the ABC procedural.

The French screenwriter was one of the co-creators of the series HPI, the original series that inspired the U.S. adaptation starring Kaitlin Olson.

“In Memory of Nicolas Jean,” read the title card at the end of Episode 7 of the series (see below).

It was earlier this month that the French writers’ guild, SACD, announced that Jean had died suddenly on September 29.

“Nicolas Jean entered the industry thirteen years ago and had a meteoric rise. Self-taught, with an atypical background that enriched his fictional stories, he quickly established himself as a talented and essential screenwriter on television,” wrote screenwriter and SACD administrator Florence Philipponnat in a message posted on Instagram.

“He had a gift for freely inventing original concepts, freeing himself from imposed constraints. And he knew how to intelligently surround himself with creative writers to develop them with him, because he was passionate about sharing and generosity.”

HPI: Haut Potential Intellectuel (High Intellectual Potential) was co-created by Nicolas Jean alongside Stéphane Carrié and Alice Chegaray-Breugnot. The series premiered in 2021 and continues producing new episodes. In the U.S., the series is available to stream on Hulu as HIP: High Intellectual Potential.

ABC’s High Potential stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillroy, a single mother with an unconventional knack for solving crimes. The cast of the series also includes Daniel Sunjata (Adam Karadec), Javicia Leslie (Daphne Forrester), Deniz Akdeniz (Oz), Amirah J (Ava Gillroy), Matthew Lamb (Elliot Radovic) and Judy Reyes (Selena Soto). Season 2 of the series added Steve Howey as a series regular playing the precinct’s new captain, Jesse Wagner.

See the title card in memory of Nicolas Jean below.

Janet Hubert To Join ‘Bel-Air’ Cast For The Series’ Final Season

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

In a moment that brings the story full circle, Janet Hubert—the original Aunt Viv from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air—is set to join the cast of Bel-Air for its fourth and final season on Peacock.

According to Deadline, Hubert will play a new character that Hilary (played by Coco Jones) meets and becomes a mentor and confidant to, adding depth to Hilary’s journey and bridging generations of strong Black female characters.

Her return marks a significant milestone, as Hubert famously departed the original sitcom midway through its six-season run. Now, more than three decades later, her participation in Bel-Air closes a powerful chapter in television history, uniting the show’s legacy with its bold reimagining.

Hubert’s addition makes her the sixth OG cast member to appear in the reboot, joining Daphne Maxwell Reid, Vernee Watson-Johnson, Tatyana Ali, Joseph Marcell, and Tyra Banks—who will also appear this season.

Also joining the cast is Caroline Chikezie (Power Book II: Ghost), who will play Dominique Warren, the head of Geoffrey’s (Jimmy Akingbola) former London gang — a role that intertwine with her British background. (Fun fact: the actor portraying the new Uncle Phil is Chikezie’s real-life husband.)

The Canadian singer attends Game 3 as the Toronto Blue Jays battled the L.A. Dodgers for the championship title

As the Toronto Blue Jays returned to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers in Game 3 of the World Series, Justin Bieber rolled up in full gear to support the Jays.

After Shohei Ohtani hit his first home run of the night — he’d go on to hit two doubles, two homers — Bieber, who was seated next to his wife, Hailey, responded with a thumbs down from the crowd. The moment was captured on camera, with attendees reposting the moment on social media.

Bieber sported pitcher Shane Bieber’s jersey from the stands, who is set to kick off Game 4 for the Jays on Tuesday. The Swag singer was born in London, Ontario, a city west of Toronto, and has been a lifelong fan of Toronto’s teams including the Maple Leafs (NHL) and the Raptors (NBA), which Bieber references in 2020’s Changes single, “Intentions.”

The Jays and the Dodgers are currently tied 1-1 in the 2025 World Series after splitting the first two nights at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Early home runs by Teoscar Hernández and Shohei Ohtani gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead in Game 3, while Toronto swooped a 4-2 lead in the fourth thanks to Alejandro Kirk’s three-run home run in the fourth inning.

Ohtani delivered a RBI double in the fifth, followed by a hit from Freddie Freeman to tie the game. Bo Bichette gave the Blue Jays a 5-4 lead, but Ohtani tied the game in the bottom half with his second homer of the game.

Must Watch Awesome Trailer for ‘Last Samurai Standing’ Action Series

“You fools who live without meaning: kill each other, until just one remains.” Netflix has revealed their full official trailer for their awesome new Japanese action series called Last Samurai Standing, which is not a game show despite the title sounding like it might be. Based on the manga of the same name, it’s about a battle between nearly 300 samurai warriors in Kyoto back in the late 19th century. “One life, one point.” Shujiro enters a deadly game where points are earned for each kill. Who will be the last samurai standing in this sinister scheme? During the Meiji period, 292 warriors, including Shujiro Saga, gather at the Tenryuji Temple in Kyoto at nightfall, lured by the promise of a huge cash prize. Each given a wooden tag, they join a vicious game in which they must steal the tags of their fellow participants and reach Tokyo to win the prize money. Under the veil of night, the temple grounds are filled with unease and the presence of bloodthirsy warriors. When the signal is given to begin the game, the combatants launch into their relentless battle for survival. Let them fight! Starring Junichi Okada, Yumia Fujisaki, Kaya Kiyohara, Hiroshi Tamaki, Hideaki Itō, Gaku Hamada, Hiroshi Abe. This looks as badass as Netflix’s Blue Eye Samurai and as entertaining as the recent Shogun series. Stylish and action-packed! I’ll definitely be watching when it’s out.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Netflix’s action series Last Samurai Standing, from YouTube:

Each given a wooden tag, they join a vicious game in which they must steal the tags of their fellow participants and reach Tokyo to win the prize money. Under the veil of night, the temple grounds are filled with unease and the presence of bloodthirsy warriors. When the signal is given to begin the game – the combatants launch into their relentless battle for survival. Last Samurai Standing, also titled イクサガミ in Japanese, is a series created & written & directed by Kento Yamaguchi (Tokyo City Girl, Dependence, “Our Fake Marriage”) & Michihito Fujii (The Last 10 Days, Village, Hard Days, The Parades, Shoutai). Joe Jonas Reacts to Backlash Over Jonas Brothers’ World Series Set

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Jonas Brothers, who are Stand Up to Cancer ambassadors, gave a surprise performance during the 2025 World Series that had some baseball fans taking to social media to criticize their appearance.

On Saturday, the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers competed in Game Two of the World Series at Toronto’s Rogers Centre. After the fifth inning, the game was paused for a Stand up to Cancer tribute. A Major League Baseball tradition since 2009, the tribute features those in attendance holding up placards honoring people who have been affected by cancer. At the game yesterday, baseball fans and players alike participated in the moment.

Then, the band were surprise-introduced by an announcer, who said Jonas Brothers would perform “I Can’t Lose,” which was “dedicated to everyone standing up to cancer.” Kicking their performance off with Joe Jonas holding up a placard for their dad, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2017, the band delivered their performance in the stadium in an area overlooking the field.

While they performed, they were surrounded by fans who sang along, but once they were done, it appeared some baseball fans were less enthusiastic about their surprise set. Some who were displeased took to the internet. One person posted “Do this pregame… not interrupt the World Series” and another wrote “This is the World Series not the All Star game” in the comments on the MLB YouTube video featuring their performance.

Trending Stories

Over on Instagram, their appearance was also taken to task. “Horrible idea to have a half time show AFTER a moment of silence for those impacted by cancer, in the middle of the WORLD SERIES. So bad,” wrote one person, while another called it the “worst part of the whole broadcast.” Another was more diplomatic, writing, “They might be good performers, but please never do this in the middle of a game again. Do it to start the game. This just changes the entire atmosphere.”

Joe Jonas appeared to take it all in stride, humorously posting, “Why these guys ?” on MLB’s Instagram post. And despite the backlash from some, thousands of others “liked” Jonas’ response and hundreds of others commented in support of him and the band. Besides, there was at least one pretty evident reason why they were there with the sign he held up at the beginning of their performance, given their dad, Kevin Jonas Sr., is a cancer survivor. Perhaps a better battle to pick is a unified one against cancer rather than over a band’s surprise set.

Cast and Creators Talk Gruesome Series Opening

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

What To Know

  • The cast and creators talk to TV Insider about the series premiere of It: Welcome to Derry, which is set in 1962 and explores the era’s collective fears.
  • The episode introduces a new group of children and adults, highlighting themes of social exclusion and prejudice, while connecting their personal fears to the supernatural terror in Derry.
  • The shocking massacre of most main child characters in the premiere subverts audience expectations, signaling that the series will not follow the familiar patterns of the original It films.

[Warning: The following post contains MAJOR spoilers for the premiere episode of It: Welcome to Derry.]

Welcome back to Derry, Maine, for another cycle of the title extraterrestrial monster emerging from the sewers to terrorize young children.

The premiere of the It prequel series is set in 1962, against a landscape of widespread fears about the bomb and the pernicious racism that prevailed in the era. For cocreator Jason Fuchs, he needed to look no further than Stephen King‘s original text for inspiration for that defining element of the new series.

“Stephen King, I think, intentionally approached it in the way he did, because he wanted Derry to be a microcosm of America, and, in some ways, a microcosm of the larger world around us. We sort of wanted to explore that. We wanted to explore the moment of 1962. It’s a specific period with very specific fears and terrors. Obviously, It does not exist in the beginning, is taking advantage of people’s very real fear. So what are people scared of in 1962, and what are people worried about? There’s a long list, but certainly chief amongst them [is] the threat of nuclear war. It’s the Atomic Age.”

The opening shot of the series plays upon the first of those; a young (but not quite young enough for the pacifier he’s gnawing on) boy named Matty (Miles Ekhardt) is caught watching The Music Man without a ticket at the local cineplex. The usher who chases him implies this is a regular occurrence, but Matty is clocked and covered for by young Ronnie Grogan (Amanda Christine), the daughter of the friendly reel operator, Hank (Stephen Rider), who implies that Matty’s family is terrible to him.

Miles Ekhardt as Matty / HBO

Matty then braves the cold in an effort to get out of Derry and is picked up by a family that goes from wholesome to horrifying in a matter of minutes. As the kids in the backseat with him join their folks in a chorus of bizarre chants, the mother gives birth to a mutant monster baby with wings that attacks. The inspiration for that fearsome new creature, according to Andy Muschietti, is drawn from the perceived dangers of radioactivity in the Cold War era.

“There’s a connection to the collective fears of the era, which is… the fear of nuclear attack, radiation, general nuclear tests. People were in panic of the imminent bang… This scare with the baby is based on the radio broadcast that’s talking about birth defects, stemming from radiation. So I thought it was a great way to start to set up the era where we’re living, what the fears are, and newborn baby, boom, in your face,” Muschietti explained. “There’s also a theme of having children that cuts across the whole book. When you realize that all the Losers in the second half of the book, when they’re adults, they come back to Derry, and they all realized nobody, none of them, had children, it sort of talks about the fear or the horror of bringing kids into this world, which is full of horrors.”

We then meet Major Leroy Hanlon (Jovan Adepo) as he’s welcomed to the air base outside of Derry by General Francis Shaw (James Remar), who quickly puts an obviously racist airman in his place for refusing to salute his superior.

James Remar and Jovan Adepo in It Welcome to Derry

James Remar as Gen. Francis Shaw and Jovan Adepo as Maj. Leroy Hanlon / HBO

For James Remar, while Shaw does want something from Hanlon and his bespoke set of special skills, that’s not the only reason he stands up for him. “Am I just using him? I don’t feel that’s the case, because if I were, then I could do it by force. Francis Shaw is doing it a little bit more by coercion, and trying to get him on his side, and to see what he’s doing is right. So he does have a respect and an affection for him. I don’t feel like he’s just using him. And he protects all his troops, because just about 10 years prior to when this was taking place, maybe 1948, the United States military was desegregated. Prior to that, in World War II, Black troops and white troops did not serve in the same units… But then they integrated. And when the boss, President Truman, said we’re integrating the troops, General Shaw was right on board,” he said. “These are my troops. These are my guys. And it didn’t matter what color they were anymore.”

Leroy is later attacked in his room by a pair of masked men who point a gun at his face and demand top-secret information that he refuses to give. He’s rescued by his partner, Pauly Russo (Randy Mancuso), before things take a grimmer turn.

Jack Malloy Legault, Matilda Legault, Clara stack, Mikkal Karim Fdler in It Welcome to Derry

Jack Malloy Legault as Phil, Matilda Legault as Suzie, Clara Stack as Lilly, and Mikkal Karim Fidler as Teddy / HBO

The show also introduces us to more children who’ve been otherized by their peers at school. There’s Lilly Bainbridge (Clara Stack), who is taunted with jars of pickles after her dad’s accidental death at a jarring factory, and fears she’ll be perceived as mentally unwell. She once confided in Matty about all of that before the boy’s disappearance, and as she remembers that, she begins to hear his voice through the bath drain before a pair of fingers pop out.

Then, there’s Margie (Matilda Lawler), a girl who’s desperately trying to fit in with the popular girls called the Patty Cakes, hates her glasses, and worries that her friendship with Lilly reflects badly on her. Meanwhile, Phil (Jack Molloy Legault) is a foul-mouthed sci-fi lover, and Teddy (Mikkal Karim-Fidler) is an apparent ancestor of Stanley Urie. Teddy, after hearing about the horrors of the Holocaust at the dinner table, experiences the second individual scare with a lampshade turning into human skin and chasing him around the room.

Lilly joins forces with Phil, Teddy, and Phil’s little sister Suzie (Matilda Legault) to dive deeper into what Teddy experienced and how it might relate to Matty’s disappearance. They recruit Ronnie to join in on the mission because she, too, heard something in the pipes. Together, they hit the movie theater to recreate the moment when Matty was last seen, and things take a horrifying turn when the mutant flying baby from the intro bursts through the screen and rips most of the kids to shreds, with just Lilly and Ronnie left alive in the massacre.

Amanda Christine in It Welcome to Derry

Amanda Christine as Ronnie Grogan / HBO

“For me, it was super fun to get to that, being drenched in blood and getting to scream and duck under the seats and see the kids climbing over the seats and getting flung in the air,” Clara Stack remembered of making that scene.

The deaths of three of these children, who at first appear to be in line with the archetypes of the original Losers (with Phil having echoes of Richie Tozier and Teddy reminding us, of course, of Stanley), subverts expectations. That upending was by design, according to executive producer Brad Caleb Kane.

“We wanted to show people in the first episode of the show, this is not the movies. We wanted to pull the rug out from under people right away to let them know you shouldn’t get too comfortable with anybody right away. Anything can happen. Anything will,” he explained.

Find out what else the cast and creatives had to say about the first episode of It: Welcome to Derry in TV Insider’s exclusive aftershow, embedded above. And stay tuned for more cast and creative analysis to come throughout Welcome to Derry‘s run.
