Hayley Williams Releases New David Byrne Duet “Open The Door,” Slams Kid Rock

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

In another reason why they should just form a dang band already, Hayley Williams and David Byrne have released another new collaboration in “Open The Door.”

The sentimental, sunshine-laden ballad is from the soundtrack to the new Netflix film The Twits (based on the beloved 1980 Roald Dahl children’s novel). In the film, two kids and a “family of magical animals” team up to battle the “meanest, nastiest villains [who] pull a trick to take over their town.” Check out the song below.

Related Video

The same day the pair released “Open The Door,” Williams made a surprise appearance during Byrne’s October 10th show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Byrniams/Willyrne performed their other duet, “What Is the Reason for It?” (off Byrne’s latest, Who Is The Sky?). Then, later in the set, Williams returned for a rendition of Paramore’s 2017 jam “Hard Times” (of which Byrne previously released a cover and performed regularly across this latest tour). Check out footage from that show below.

The pair first linked up in 2023/2024 when Paramore covered “Burning Down The House” for the A24-led re-release of 1984’s Stop Making Sense concert film. Byrne told People recently that they’ve maintained regular contact ever since, and he has nothing but adoration for Williams’ talent.

“She has an extraordinary rapport with her audience,” Byrne said. “It’s very sincere and very close, which I made note of that. I just thought that’s really amazing.”

Byrne also noted that “What Is the Reason for It?” came together rather organically, and that he and Williams both managed to be in town at the same exact time. He added, “I just texted her and said, ‘Do you want to come by and sing on this?’ And she said yes.”

It’s been a busy few weeks for Williams. In addition to these collabs, she’s been further supporting her latest solo album, Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party. And speaking of that very LP, the title track continues to garner the singer some contempt from certain conservative figures.

The song, which features a line about a “racist country singer,” is hands-down a sturdy middle finger to one Morgan Wallen.

“It could be a couple [singers], but I’m always talking about Morgan Wallen. I don’t give a shit,” Williams recently told The New York Times’ Popcast podcast. “Find me at Whole Foods, bitch, I don’t care.”

Yet even as Williams is clearly talking about someone else, that didn’t stop Kid Rock from commenting during a recent Fox News appearance.

“You know what’s stupid is people who think they’re cooler than art thou that worry about their outfit every day like some of these rock singers that live here in Nashville — I won’t stay any names — or these chicks running around on their campuses with their blue hair, their five nose rings.”

In turn, Williams responded to Rock’s comments with an Instagram story (per Stereogum), spinning a hilarious little yarn that places the “rapper” in  some rather interesting context.

“I remember being a little kid in Meridian, MS the first time I heard a Kid Rock song [‘Bawitdaba’]…at Poplar Springs Elementary’s annual field day. I thought it sounded dangerous and cool. Later, I learned I wasn’t allowed to listen to him ’cause the Southern Baptist Church said he was evil. My how the turn tables!”

So, who wins the Williams-Kid Rock beef? Well, one of them is regularly collaborating with David Byrne and the other’s on The Ingraham Angle, so we’ll let you decide.

Madison Beer Releases New Single ‘Bittersweet’

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

The emotionally-wrought track follows her recent return to music with “Yes, Baby”

Madison Beer has dropped a new single, “Bittersweet.” The pensive track follows her recent release “Yes, Baby,” which she shared in September.

“Now that it’s over, you blame it all on me,” she croons on the song. “I know I should be bitter, but baby/ Right now I’m bittersweet/ I’m getting over what you put me through/ And I’d say I’m done crying, but baby/ I don’t lie like you do.”

“’Bittersweet’ is about the end of a chapter and the difficulty of coming to terms with it, while also recognizing that deep down you know it’s for the best—and finding peace in that along the journey,” Beer explained in a statement.

“Yes, Baby” and “Bittersweet” mark Beer’s return to music in 2025. Prior to the new songs, her last single, “15 Minutes,” dropped in July 2024. Several months prior to that, in February, she released “Make You Mine,” which would go on to earn a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording earlier this year. (The song ultimately lost out to Charli XCX’s “Von Dutch.”)

Trending Stories

A press release for “Yes Baby” said more music from Beer would be arriving “sooner than you think,” suggesting the singles may mark the start of a new album cycle. Beer’s most recent LP, Silence Between Songs, was released in 2023, and she spent much of last year on her “Spinnin Tour” in support of the album.

The singer is set to perform at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York City on Oct. 15. The performance will stream on Prime Video and Amazon Live for U.S. audiences and globally on Victoria’s Secret’s YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram accounts.

Taylor Swift Releases ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ Video: Watch

Taylor Swift Releases ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ Video: Watch

by jummy84 October 6, 2025
written by jummy84

The musician portrays the song’s titular Shakespeare character alongside other showgirls, including herself in new clip

Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl era is in full swing and to cap off the album’s stellar debut weekend, she’s released the music video for its first official single, “The Fate of Ophelia.” The video first premiered this weekend in The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, Swift’s film which screened in theaters from Oct. 3 to Oct. 5.

The Swift-directed and written visual for the single opens on Swift as the tragic Shakespeare heroine Ophelia from Hamlet in a painting on the wall of a hotel, before it’s revealed that it’s a set. She then embodies a variety of showgirls from various eras and in elaborate settings, where she’s backed by dancers and the band from her Eras Tour. It culminates at a hotel where Swift stars as herself.

Unlike Hamlet’s noblewoman Ophelia, whose plight in a patriarchal society finds her powerless, spiraling into madness and leads to her tragic end by drowning, Swift’s Ophelia triumphs. Per the lyrics, the heroine “pledges allegiance” to a presumed love that “dug me out of my grave and/Saved my heart from the fate of Ophelia,” and declares “now you’re mine.” Like with the Romeo and Juliet of Swift’s “Love Story,” Ophelia, whose star-crossed love of Hamlet leads to her demise in Shakespeare’s version, instead gets a fairy-tale-style happily ever after, too.

Trending Stories

Following the digital premiere of “The Fate of Ophelia” video, Swift is sharing lyric videos for all of the songs from The Life of a Showgirl, as she did in The Official Release Party of a Showgirl.

Swift has had an impressive opening weekend sales-wise with both her limited-release film and album. The Official Release Party of a Showgirl hit Number One in the box office, with early projections expecting it to rake in between $28 million and $32 million from 3,702 theaters during its limited Oct. 3 through Oct. 5 domestic theatrical run (worldwide box office estimates for its weekend premiere put it at $46 million). Meanwhile, The Life of a Showgirl sold 2.7 million copies in traditional album sales — combined physical and digital — from all versions of the album on its first day of release on Oct. 3 alone. That number represents Swift’s biggest album sales week ever, and Swift’s album looks to potentially eclipse the sales record held by Adele’s 25, which sold 3.378 million copies in its debut week in 2015.

Tyrese Gibson Booked On Animal Cruelty Charge, Releases Statement

Tyrese Gibson Booked On Animal Cruelty Charge, Releases Statement

by jummy84 October 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Earlier this month, a tragic incident occurred involving Tyrese‘s four cane corso dogs and allegedly killing a neighbor’s Cavalier King Charles spaniel in their Atlanta neighborhood. After a warrant was issued last Monday (Sept. 22) for Gibson’s arrest, the “Sweet Lady” singer has now chosen to turn himself.

According to NBC, jail records show Gibson was was booked on a charge of cruelty to animals and released on bond. Records show neighbors said four cane corso dogs were seen running through the neighborhood on Sept. 18 and killed a neighbor’s 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles spaniel named Henry.

The police report states security footage showed Gibson’s four cane corsos running toward Henry’s home. Henry’s owner said he let his dog out into his yard after 10 p.m. to use the bathroom and found him dead in the driveway five minutes later. On the same evening of the attack, a woman called animal control to report that four cane corsos were at her door and she needed to be escorted to her vehicle, per NBC.

The report also stated that Gibson “admitted that he believes his dogs killed Henry and that he knows it’s been an ongoing issue over the past few months with his dogs getting out.” On Sept. 22, animal control went to the Fast & Furious actor’s home to have him surrender the four dogs, but he refused over the phone and said he needed a few days to figure out his next steps. They returned to his residence the following day with a search warrant, but Tyrese and the dogs were not there.

The official statement from Gabe Banks of Banks Weaver Law Firm, Gibson’s legal counsel, reads as follows:

“Earlier this morning, Mr. Tyrese Gibson voluntarily turned himself in to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office to answer the misdemeanor warrant. Earlier this week (Tuesday), Mr. Gibson’s legal team worked with prosecutors and successfully secured a consent bond for his immediate release. He has now been processed and released. Despite what others might say, throughout this entire process Mr. Gibson has cooperated fully with legal authorities and will continue to do so until this matter is resolved. Mr. Gibson once again wants to extend his deepest condolences to the family who lost their dog and respectfully asks for privacy and understanding as this matter is handled through the appropriate legal channels.”

In a statement posted to Gibson’s Instagram account before his booking, Banks shared his client “accepts full responsibility for his dogs.” The statement also explained Tyrese made the decision to get his cane corsos because he felt he needed protection from “stalkers randomly showing up at his home,” and the dogs have never viciously attacked anyone until this recent incident.

Gabe Banks of Banks Weaver Law Firm wrote, “Since the day he learned of this tragedy, Mr. Gibson has been actively trying to reach out to the family directly to express his sorrow and condolences. He knows nothing can undo their loss, but he wants them to know he is truly heartbroken.”

Tyrese, in his own quote, concluded with, “I had no idea I would ever wake up to this nightmare, and I know the family must feel the same way. To them, please know that my heart is broken for you. I am praying for your healing and for your beloved pet, who never deserved this. I remain committed to facing this matter with honesty, responsibility, and compassion.”

NBC states that Fulton County police captain said Gibson had received a warning on Sept. 7 because his dogs were seen running through the neighborhood more than five times over the past few months. In Tyrese’s statement, he shared his decision to rehome his two adult dogs and their three puppies “in safe and loving homes” because the liability of keeping them “was simply too great.”

Netflix New Releases: October 2025

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

A gruesome retelling of the crimes of Ed Gein; a boat-based thriller packed with British thespians; the third season of ratings magnet The Diplomat; another glimpse behind the scenes at the NBA through five new stars; an investigation into what led to the demise of the Montreal Expos; a hotly anticipated new season of the internet’s favorite rom-com Nobody Wants This; and new films from Oscar-winners Kathryn Bigelow and Edward Berger are among the highlights of the new film and TV projects hitting Netflix in October.

The big series launch for Netflix in October is the latest entry in Ryan Murphy’s Monster anthology franchise. Monster: The Ed Gein Story debuts on Oct. 3 and stars Charlie Hunnam as the serial killer Ed Gein. It follows the harrowing Jeffrey Dahmer Story and the impactful Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, respectively. Each cycle of the Monster franchise tackles a different true-crime story, following the massive success of the series’ 2022 debut. The Ed Gein Story tells the story of how one simple man in Plainfield, Wisconsin, became “history’s most singular ghoul,” says the streamer, revealing to the world “the most horrific truth of all — that monsters aren’t born, they’re made … by us.” The cast also includes Tom Hollander, Laurie Metcalf and Suzanna Son, with Vicky Krieps, Olivia Williams, Lesley Manville, Joey Pollari, Charlie Hall, Tyler Jacob Moore, Mimi Kennedy, Will Brill and Robin Weigert.

On Oct. 10, Netflix drops Simon Stone’s psychological thriller The Woman in Cabin 10. The feature, based on the 2016 novel by Ruth Ware, has all the ingredients of the perfect midweek movie, a delicious cast full of classy Brit actors, a dollop of mystery and a scrumptious 1 hour and 30 minute runtime. The film stars Keira Knightley as a travel journalist who is aboard a luxury yacht when she sees a passenger thrown overboard in the middle of the night. When the crew insists that it never happened, she attempts to uncover the truth and finds her own safety at risk. The cast also includes Guy Pearce, Art Malik, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings and Hannah Waddingham.

The eagerly anticipated third season of Netflix‘s The Diplomat drops on Oct. 16. The thriller series was left on a cliffhanger, with President Rayburn (Michael McKean) dying at the end of season two. The action resumes in the aftermath of Rayburn’s death with Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) taking over, much to the fear of U.K. ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) and her husband Hal (Rufus Sewell). Earlier this month, Netflix confirmed that Janney and her screen husband Bradley Whitford had been upped to series regulars for season four so expect both to be at the center of all the series intrigue this season.

Also on Oct. 16, the second season of NBA docuseries Starting 5 debuts. Launching days before the start of the new NBA season, the next chapter of Starting 5 will once again take us behind the scenes of the world’s most glamourous basketball league, but this time we’ll be following the exploits of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Tyrese Haliburton, Kevin Durant, James Harden and Jaylen Brown during the 2024-2025 season. Notably, adding to the drama and intrigue, two of the five stars in the docuseries, SGA and Haliburton, went all the way to the last NBA Finals.

On Oct. 21, Netflix releases the sports documentary Who Killed the Montreal Expos? A real gift to baseball nuts, although not necessarily great viewing for Expos fans, the doc examines the demise of the Canadian team who played their last game in 2004. Hall of Famers and former Expos players Pedro Martinez, Vladimir Guerrero Sr. and Larry Walker are interviewed for the documentary, along with former manager Felipe Alou and a number of journalists, fans and team employees who all offer their perspectives of what went wrong for the team.

The second season of Erin Foster’s hit series Nobody Wants This hits Netflix on Oct. 23. The first season of the show was the talk of the internet and inspired several newspaper columns about the exploits of Adam Brody’s hot rabbi Noah and Kristen Bell’s agnostic Joanne. We rejoin the action with Noah and Joanne as a still-in-love couple, who are going strong despite how the first season ended. Miles Fowler, Alex Karpovsky, Arian Moayed and Kate Berlant are also season two guest stars. Stephanie Faracy, Michael Hitchcock, Tovah Feldshuh, Paul Ben-Victor, Emily Arlook, Sherry Cola, D’Arcy Carden and Shiloh Berman round out the cast. New additions include guest stars Leighton Meester and Seth Rogen.

Oct. 24 will see the launch of Netflix’s big film release of the month, Kathryn Bigelow’s hotly anticipated A House of Dynamite. The star-studded thriller debuted in competition at the Venice Film Festival this year, where it received an 11-minute standing ovation from the audience. Written by Noah Oppenheim, the film captures from multiple perspectives the White House response to an unattributed missile launch headed for a major U.S. city in the harrowing 20 minutes until projected impact. The cast includes Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Moses Ingram, Jonah Hauer-King, Greta Lee and Jason Clarke.

Conclave filmmaker Edward Berger’s new film, Ballad of a Small Player, drops on Netflix on Oct. 29. Young Thug Releases ‘Man I Miss My Dogs,’ Apologizes to Drake, Future

Young Thug has seemingly seen the world around him crumble with every misstep and leaked jail phone call. But now, he’s looking to right his wrongs and change the narrative.

Thugger returned with the apologetic “Man I Miss My Dogs” on Thursday night (Sept. 11), which is an apology tour of sorts, as he addresses his trials and tribulations with girlfriend Mariah The Scientist, Drake, Gucci Mane, 21 Savage, Future and Lil Baby.

The YSL boss kicks off the seven-minute track apologizing to Mariah The Scientist, as he hopes to win her back after the singer stuck by him throughout his two-year-plus jail stint fighting the YSL RICO case.

“Baby I’m sorry, one of my biggest fears is losing you to the internet/ One of my biggest fears is waking up in our bed without you right by my neck/ Saying don’t you break a sweat, pillow talking ain’t my game,” a beaten-down Thugger melodically raps.

Thug also shows love to Drake, whom he allegedly dissed in a jail call, for visiting him when he was behind bars. “Drizzy, you my brother/ You know I ain’t going against you/ I got manners/ Everything you did for the rap community can’t ban you/ Never diss you/ Came to visit me at Cobb County like my kin do/ F— the jail call, you know the other calls we had,” he raps.

Next, he moves to Lil Baby, as it appears that WHAM isn’t picking up his phone calls at the moment. There’s been a clear divide in the friendship of the once powerful triumvirate of Thug, Baby and Gunna since the RICO case.

“WHAM pick up the phone, yeah talk to me it’s Spider/ Taught you everything you know about this s—t we for lifers,” Thug implores.

He also attempts to clear the air with 21 Savage, letting the Slaughter Gang honcho know they’re on good terms. “Savage you a real n—a/ Don’t let them tell you different,” Thug proclaims.

After plenty of chatter, Thug is attempting to finally control his narrative and the reclamation of the Atlanta rapper is on. He’ll have plenty more to say, as the long-awaited UY SCUTI album is slated to arrive on Sept. 19.

Justin Bieber releases 2nd surprise album in two months, ‘Swag II’

Never Say Never because Justin Bieber has surprised fans — again — by releasing his eighth studio album, Swag II, on Friday.

It’s a follow-up to his July release, when the Canadian musician released his seventh studio album, Swag, after he teased it on billboards and in social media posts. Bieber did the same rollout for Swag II.

The 31-year-old pop star began teasing the artwork Thursday for his new album on Instagram and all across the globe with a baby pink background and the text “Swag II.”

Bieber also shared an image of himself, his wife Hailey Bieber, and their infant son, Jack Blues Bieber.

The new album features two discs. Disc 1 is the new release, with 23 new songs, including Speed Demon, Better Man and I Think You’re Special, and guest appearances from Tems, Hurricane Chris, Lil B, Eddie Benjamin and Bakar.

The two-time Grammy Award-winning singer produced Swag II alongside Dijon, Carter Lang, Mike Will Made It, Buddy Ross, Daniel Chetrit, Mk.gee and Dylan Wiggins, among others.

Disc 2 is his previously released album Swag, which explored themes of love, life and fatherhood across 21 tracks. Some of the strongest songs include Daisies, Bieber’s slow-burn alt-R&B performed atop lo-fi guitar; Go Baby, a celebration of his wife; and Devotion, which features rising R&B voice Dijon.

Bieber’s Swag features 21 songs and guest appearances from artists including Gunna, Sexxy Red, Cash Cobain, Druski, Dijon, Lil B, Eddie Benjamin and Marvin Winans.

Before Swag II and Swag, Bieber hadn’t released a new album since 2021’s Justice.

Bieber is best known for his R&B pop lyric tenor, demonstrated on the diamond-selling Baby, Sorry, and Stay with the Kid Laroi. At the beginning of his career and as a tween, Bieber began working with Usher and music manager Scooter Braun.

In 2023, Bieber sold the rights to his music — all six of his albums, including hits like Sorry and Baby — to Hipgnosis, a U.K.-based music investment company. The deal’s financial details were not disclosed, but Billboard Magazine reported that the sale was worth an estimated US$200 million.
