Woman who lost 15 kg shares weight loss tips that helped her go from 73 kg to 56 kg: ‘Stretch every morning, night for…’

Losing weight is an uphill battle. Apart from working out regularly, it also requires one to keep a check on their diet, adopt lifestyle habits that can benefit their routine, and follow a cohesive plan that offers long-term benefits rather than quick results.

Fitness coach shares tips that helped her lose 15 kg during weight loss, including eating high-protein meals, stretching regularly, and more.

Sophia Clare, an online fitness coach, on August 23, shared her transformation on Instagram. She shared a few tips that helped her lose over 15 kg during her weight loss journey, including eating high-protein meals, stretching regularly, and not skipping weight training, among others.

Weight loss tips to shed almost 15 kg

According to the fitness coach, she used to weigh 73 kg, and now she weighs about 56 kg. She lost over 15 kg during her transformation period, and it was possible because she followed steps that helped maintain her nutrition and health, and remained consistent. Let’s find out what helped her lose weight.

1. Food = fuel

According to the fitness coach, food is fuel for our body, and while she was trying to lose weight, instead of giving up food to reduce calories, she ate lots of high-protein, nutrient-dense meals.

She also maintained being in a caloric deficit while fuelling her body. She explains, “[Be in] calorie deficit if you are trying to lose weight. E.g.: If your maintenance calories are 2,000, a deficit diet for you would be eating around 1,700 calories.”

2. Weight lifting 4-5x a week

The fitness coach made sure that she did weight training at least 4 to 5 times a week. While training, she did a PPL split: push, pull, and legs. For instance, push exercises would be bench press, barbell shoulder press, dumbbell lateral raises, push-ups, and chest press. Meanwhile, pull exercises include pull-ups, bicep curls, one-arm dumbbell rows, bent-over rows, and deadlifts.

She also suggested a key tip to keep in mind while working out. “Focusing on different muscle groups each day, to allow the other muscles to recover. Focusing on progressive overload and training until failure. Push for extra reps, your mind gives up before your body does,” the coach recommended.

3. Aiming for 10-12k steps a day

“Steps are so beneficial to help with weight loss, and even an instant mood booster,” the fitness coach noted. During her weight loss journey, she completed 10 to 12k steps every day.

4. Stretching every morning and night

According to the fitness coach, she stretched every day, once in the morning and once at night, for 15 minutes each time. “This helps keep the muscle active, but also allows for recovery. Also good before bed to unwind,” she explained.

5. Stay motivated

Lastly, the fitness coach advised those trying to lose weight to stay motivated and avoid comparing their progress to others. She added, “It can be hard, but keep reminding yourself why you started. We all have to start somewhere; you can’t compare your day 1 to someone’s day 100.”

written by jummy84

Three days before he’s due to hit the dance floor again, Dylan Efron has been injured. The Season 34 Dancing With the Stars contestant shared an unexpected update with fans on Saturday, October 25, along with photos from his visit to the doctor.

“Broke my nose, but dont need it to dance 🕺,” he captioned an Instagram post, confirming that he’ll still be able to dance with his pro partner, Daniella Karagach, during Tuesday’s live show. He also thanked Karagach, her husband, Pasha Pashkov, and Pashkov’s Season 34 partner, Danielle Fishel, for supporting him amid the setback.

“I’m seriously all good- but I’ll never forget the way Dani, Pasha and Danielle WOULDN’T leave me side when it happened, warms my heart to have friends like them ❤️,” he concluded.

The comments section was filled with supportive messages. “I hope you’re ok brother. sending you love,” Season 34 pro Mark Ballas wrote, while Valentin Chmerkovskiy said, “Oh em gee.” Emma Slater added, “WHAT?!! @dylanefron hope you’re ok!” to which Efron replied, ” all good 🙂 already back and practicing.”

Of course, Efron’s pal from The Traitors, Rob Mariano, also weighed in, writing, “Keep him in line @daniellakaragach ❤️.”

Efron and the other eight remaining contestants will perform again on October 28 for Halloween Night. This week, Efron and Karagach are dancing a Viennese waltz to “Can’t Help Falling in Love (Dark)” by Tommee Profitt & Brooke.

So far, Week 5 was Efron’s standout week. He danced a contemporary routine that he dedicated to his younger sister, Olivia, and earned a 36 out of 40 from the judges. The high score put him on top of the leaderboard for the first time.

During Week 6, Efron was more towards the bottom of the pack, scoring a 32 out of 40 for his rumba on Wicked night. The competition is heating up now, so he and everyone else will have to bring it to stay in the competition.

Paediatrician shares 7 signs of joint problems in kids every parent should know: ‘Pain that increases at night…’

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Joint problems are generally thought to be a problem that shows up in older adults. But joint issues also occur in young kids. What’s most alarming is that often, serious signs of joint problems are confused with growing pains. Parents need to stay alert and know when to seek medical advice. Early detection of joint issues reduces the chances of complications.

ALSO READ: Signs and symptoms associated with rheumatological diseases in children

Addressing the issue of joint health in kids, Dr Poonam Chhillar, Assistant Professor, Paediatrics, Shardacare Healthcity, shared with HT Lifestyle the signs that necessitate a doctor visit because they are serious.

“While it’s typical for parents to call occasional joint pain in children ‘growing pains,’ that may be true, but it’s important to know when it could actually be something different,” Dr Chhillar warned about the habit of parents dismissing children’s joint problems.

The paediatrician explained that growing pains are common in children between the ages of 3 and 12, and are usually dull. They do not include serious signs like swelling, limping or redness. They could also be sports injuries. But one more serious root cause, Dr Chhillar highlighted: Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. This happens when inflammation rises in the joints.

7 warning signs parents should know

Joint pain, when left untreated, may get aggravated. Dr Chhillar said, “While mild joint pain or strain can be treated with rest and warm compresses, some symptoms should never be ignored.” Often, non-serious pain goes away with a warm compress, but when certain signs persist, they indicate underlying issues like inflammation or juvenile arthritis.

“Waiting too long to see a doctor could increase your child’s risk of developing chronic problems, joint damage or disability,” the paediatrician reminded the cost of delaying medical attention.

Here are the 7 signs she shared:

1. Persistent joint pain or swelling

  • Joint pain or swelling that is worsening or lasts longer than a week can be a sign of inflammation.
  • It is especially more prominent with large joints like the knee.

2. Stiffness in the morning

  • Difficulty getting out of bed
  • Stiffness after naps
  • Feeling awkward after sitting for a long time.

3. Limping or altered use of a limb

  • Any newly apparent limp
  • Reluctance to bear weight
  • Decreased range of motion in a joint

4. Bone pain that increases at night

  • Bone pain that is severe enough to wake the child from sleep.

5. Spontaneous fracture without injury or trauma:

  • Fractures that occur without a known cause may indicate underlying weakness or a metabolic bone disease.

6. Systemic symptoms:

These are symptoms of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), or another inflammatory or infectious process:

  • Joint pain with fever
  • Unexplained rash
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Unexplained weight loss

7. Redness or warmth over the joint:

These signs reveal inflammation or infection:

2 things children need to follow

The paediatrician advised parents to ensure good nutrition and an active lifestyle so that children develop healthy bones and joints.

She named two nutrients that support bone health. “Make sure your child is getting enough Calcium and Vitamin D, which are essential for healthy bones.”

If a child is overweight, their bones bear more strain, making it very important to be active and maintain a healthy weight.

Dr Chhillar suggested, “Promote different forms of physical activity—weight-bearing exercise, stretching and play. Managing weight is also important as excess weight puts additional strain on developing bones and joints.”

For One Night Only, Jenna Ortega Pauses Goth Glam for Something More Soft

by jummy84 October 24, 2025

Jenna Ortega and her stylist Enrique Melendez have spent the last year going all-in on Ortega’s brand of gothic glam. Inspired first by her leading role in Netflix’s Wednesday, Ortega has delighted in dark, sexy style codes: a reptilian skin-like Ashi Studio gown, pirate cosplay in Vivienne Westwood, a shredded, ripped-up GapStudio jersey dress that’d make any mid aughts emo princess swoon, a ruffled suit that reflected Stefano Gallici’s avant grade gothic vision at Ann Demulemeester. From mall goth boots on an Australian beach to mussed-up, don’t-mess-with-me makeup and backcombed hair, Jenna Ortega has stayed committed.

Last night, at InStyle’s Imagemaker Awards, Ortega opted for something a little different. Don’t get me wrong, with those bleached eyebrows, it’s still very much giving ethereal creature of the night, but this veered more romantic. More Du Maurier than Poe. Ortega wore a sheer lilac gown from Amiri’s spring 2026 collection, which features delicate, leaf-like beading, a see-through bodice, and thigh-high slit. She paired it with a fluffy oxblood coat, platform sandals in metallic silver, and a mirrored silver, boxy clutch bag. Melendez posed with Ortega on the red carpet in a similarly toned red suit.

In a way, that philosophy also applies to The Row.

“We didn’t want to be in front of it,” Ashley explained, “We didn’t necessarily even want to let people know it was us. It was really about the product, to the point where we were like: Who could we get to front this so that we don’t have to?”

As Ashley—who shares son Otto, 2, with husband Louis Eisner—noted, they created the fashion house with the hope of making something for themselves.

“We had just moved to New York,” she recalled. “We were 18 years old and I think what we did know was that we wanted to take that time to take a break from what we were previously doing and to explore things that interested us.”

That included exploring “what life has to offer,” Ashley continued, before Mary-Kate finished her sentence, saying, “Creatively.”

Scott Hoying Eliminated on Wicked Night

by jummy84 October 22, 2025
written by jummy84

One couple was changed for good during “Dancing With the Stars” Wicked Night.

The Oct. 21 episode welcomed director John M. Chu as the guest judge as pairs danced to hit songs from “Wicked” — with some taking on Elphaba and some taking Glinda.

This week’s scores were combined with last week’s dedication night. Last week, Carrie Ann Inaba recieved a bit of backlash for her criticism on certain pairs, but this week, she gave the first 10 of the season. The score came for Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas’ quickstep. The other judges, with the exception of Derek Hough who went with a 9, agreed with Inaba. At the end of the night, Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sousa also received three 10s and one nine — Hough is saving his 10 paddle — for their stunning rumba.

Hough pointed out after Andy Richter and Emma Slater’s jazz routine that it’s the last week, “so we’ll see,” and ultimately gave him a 6. The other judges, however, were more impressed, with the rest giving him 7s.

Last week, Inaba told Danielle Fishel and Pasha Pashkov that their dances were starting to look the same. This week, she applauded Fishel’s courage and said this was her breakthrough dance. Bruno Tonioli said it was “the most difficult song to choregraph” and Hough complimented the difficulty of the routine, calling it “magnificent.” The scores of four 9s gave them a huge boost on the leaderboard.

But it was Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten’s contemporary routine to “Defying Gravity” that left everyone (including Bersten) in tears and on their feet. “I am 54, I am injured and I just did that,” she said after the dance through tears. She landed four 9s for the powerful routine.

After all the dances and the scores combined from the last two weeks, Richter remained on the bottom of the leaderboard, with Leavitt returning to the top. Once the votes were added in — the show hit 100 million votes over the last two weeks — Scott Hoying was sent home.

Here’s a full list of scores from Wicked Night:

Scott Hoying and partner Rylee Arnold
Dance: Contemporary to “The Wizard And I”
Score: 28/40

Alix Earle and partner Val Chmerkovskiy
Dance: Jazz to “What Is This Feeling?”
Score: 35/40

Dylan Efron and partner Daniella Karagach

Score: 32/40

Andy Richter and partner Emma Slater
Dance: Jazz to “One Short Day”
Score: 27/40

Elaine Hendrix and partner Alan Bersten
Dance: Contemporary to “Defying Gravity ”
Score: 36/40

Jen Affleck and partner Jan Ravnik

Nocturnal Polar Night Renewal Serum Review

Nocturnal Polar Night Renewal Serum Review

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

And here’s the thing: Is it expensive? Yes. However, I always recommend investing in your serum or moisturizer (as opposed to cleansers) since they tend to be more concentrated in actives and stay on your skin for a longer period of time. The 30mL full size lasted me a few months with nightly use, and I just replaced it with a refill pod. (Which, when the packaging is as gorgeous as Nocturnal’s, it genuinely makes me want to reuse it forever.) And since I’ve been using Polar Night, I’ve haven’t wanted to book a facial or invest in richer moisturizers since my skin is already happy and hydrated. Serums that work smarter and harder? Here for it.

Dinner Avec Dior! Inside the Opening Night of Beverly Hill’s Most Fashionable New Eatery

by jummy84 October 20, 2025

Upon arrival to the North Rodeo Drive address, they made their way up the sweeping staircase to the third-floor setting, which overlooks a lush multi-story garden created in collaboration with landscape architect Peter Wirtz. Designed by Peter Marino, the restaurant is reminiscent of the elegance of Dior’s historic boutique at 30 Avenue Montaigne—albeit seasoned with a distinctly Californian flavor. Its airy spaces are awash in shades of green and chartreuse in an ode to Christian Dior’s beloved gardens. And as for nodding to the new, the floor pays backdrop to Dior Maison, the home décor offering. Guests quickly spotted the reissued trompe-l’œil plates by Jonathan Anderson—the very same designs that doubled as the invite to his debut show last month.

Pre-dinner, cocktails were served at the bar area’s curved ebony-and-onyx counter, beneath a ceiling of white rose petals; Monsieur Dior’s favorite bloom. The party soon flowed into the dining room, where a dramatic 28-foot work by Nicole Wittenberg anchors the space. Dinner began with caviar service and savory buckwheat madeleines, presented on tables dressed in crisp white linen and set with porcelain and crystal glassware rendered in Dior’s signature Cannage pattern.

When it came to crafting the menu, Michelin-starred chef Dominique Crenn has drawn deeply from the Dior archives. “I went to the archive and to the atelier—to understand the craftsmanship, the story, and what lies beyond,” Crenn, the only female chef in the U.S. to hold three Michelin stars, told Vogue. “It’s not just about fashion—there’s so much more behind it. I wanted to see how I could bring my DNA to their DNA.”

The result is a smorgasbord of food and fashion that pays homage to signature Dior moments: tuna tartare with purple yam chips and crème fraîche recall the layered eggplant-hued tulle gown worn by Emilia Clarke at Cannes in 2018; black truffle agnolotti with mushroom consommé evokes Charlize Theron’s golden J’Adore campaign; Guinea hen with maitake mushrooms and turnip was inspired by Laetitia Casta’s shimmering gold lamé sheath from Cannes 2003; and a ribeye cap with cauliflower purée and truffle, references a Marilyn Monroe image from a 1962 issue of Vogue.“I’ve worked on this for the last three years,” Crenn said. “Everything is a story on the plate.”

The true showstopper of the night hit the table like a finale on the runway: a Cannage-topped chocolate mousse by pâtissier Juan Contreras, Crenn’s longtime collaborator, modeled after Princess Diana and her Lady Dior bag.

Sabrina Carpenter Performs “Manchild” and “Nobody’s Son” on Saturday Night Live: Watch

by jummy84 October 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Sabrina Carpenter was the host and musical guest on last night’s (October 18) episode of Saturday Night Live, where she performed songs from her new album Man’s Best Friend. Dressed in SNL-themed underwear, Carpenter sang the single “Manchild” into a hairbrush; later, she donned a gi and did some karate for the album track “Nobody’s Son.” Carpenter also starred in sketches throughout the evening as a 12-year-old boy podcast host, a girlboss motivational speaker who suffers a head injury, and a singing washing machine.

In her opening monologue, Carpenter addressed the controversy around the Man’s Best Friend album cover. “What people don’t realize is that’s just how they cropped it,” she joked. “If you zoom out it’s clearly a picture from the [Saturday Night Live] 50th anniversary special of Bowen [Yang] helping me up by the hair after Martin Short shoved me out of the buffet line, saying something like ‘Daddy need his mini quiche.’” Carpenter also touched on her brand as a “horndog popstar”—“I’m not just horny, I’m also turned on, and sexually charged”—did some sexually charged crowd work, and was nearly arrested by Keenan Thompson. Watch Carpenter’s full speech and performances, plus her SNL promo video with cast member Marcello Hernandez, below.

Last night marked Carpenter’s third appearance on Saturday Night Live—fourth if you count her cameo in this year’s Quinta Brunson-hosted episode. She first stopped by Studio 8H as musical guest on the heels of her 2024 album Short n’ Sweet, and was a part of SNL50: The Anniversary Special, where she performed a duet of the Simon & Garfunkel song “Homeward Bound” alongside Paul Simon. On Thursday, Carpenter will kick off a run of North American arena shows, with stops in Pittsburgh, New York, Nashville, Toronto, and Los Angeles.

Season 51 of Saturday Night Live premiered on October 4. The season debut was hosted by Bad Bunny, with Doja Cat serving as musical guest. After taking this week off, SNL’s next three episodes are set to feature Miles Teller and Brandi Carlile, Nikki Glaser and Sombr, and Glen Powell and Olivia Dean, respectively.

Charli xcx Hits the 2025 Academy Museum Gala—and the Lorde Show—in One Night

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

She’s everywhere, she’s so Julia!

It doesn’t take an LA geography whiz to know that Charli xcx covered a lot of ground this past Saturday night, shuttling between The Kia Forum and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Before her surprise performance of “Girl, so confusing” with Lorde at the Kiwi singer’s Inglewood show, Charli stopped by the 2025 Academy Museum Gala—in custom Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, no less.

“It was sort of like back and forth from The Forum to the gala, which was a bit hectic,” Charli says. The soundtrack to her whirlwind getting-ready process inside the Forum? The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

While Charli recently attended the premiere of Erupcja at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Academy Gala unofficially signifies her movie star turn. (Also on the docket is her forthcoming A24 film, The Moment, a fictionalized account of Brat Summer, co-starring Alexander Skarsgård.) As anyone who follows her Letterboxd knows well, Charli is an avid cinephile. Her favorite recent watches? Jim Jarmusch’s Permanent Vacation and the forthcoming Marty Supreme “I will say Marty Supreme is the best film I’ve seen recently. Hands down,” she says. “It blew me away. It’s a film with so much passion. I was completely knocked out by it.”

What better way to mark her movie star style in the nexus of the film industry than in a custom gown based on Saint Laurent’s fall 2025 collection, complete with a sheer lace top and drop-waist leather ball skirt? “My stylist Chris Horan and I knew we wanted to work with Anthony on a dress for me with that kind of shape—we were just looking for the right moment,” Charli tells Vogue. “When the Academy Gala came up, we immediately thought of the shape but we all decided that to make the dress out of leather would be this extra unexpected twist on top. I completely love it.”

Here, Charli xcx brings Vogue along for the ride from The Forum to the 2025 Academy Gala.
