Love without limits: How digital dating is redefining romance in India

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

People say love is limitless, but there was a time, not too long ago, when love was limited by geography. But then came online dating, with its “distance is just a number” motto. Cut to 2025, and matchmaking has gone global. Thanks to remote work and virtual dating apps, young Indian daters are matching across borders, different time zones, exploring different cultures, and even languages. Dating has become a whole new experience. (Also read: Study shows that staying friends with ex-partners might hide darker, more psychopathic motives )

Online dating revolutionises romance across geographies. (Freepik)

Ravi Mittal, Founder and CEO of QuackQuack, shares with HT Lifestyle how digital dating is transforming romance in India, breaking geographical barriers, and creating meaningful cross-city and cross-cultural connections.

How are digital daters redefining romance?

The dating world is seeing a phenomenal shift. The digital daters, the laptop-toting, globe-trotting, Wi-Fi-hunting romantics who can juggle meetings from the mountains and falling in love with someone they matched with on their workation. And it’s not as rare as it might sound; in fact, a survey by dating app QuackQuack revealed that 16% of Indian daters have met their perfect match on the go. Work or travel did not stop them from finding love. And 2 in 5 of these daters are open to moving to their partner’s city, if their relationship demands it.

Nomadic dating is thriving as online platforms erase geographical boundaries.(Freepik)

Why is nomadic dating making sense today?

This “nomadic dating” actually makes perfect sense in the present world. If jobs are no longer limited by pin codes, why should love be? Geographical borders are blurring, thanks to online dating, and so is the idea of a ‘perfect match’. A woman from Tamil Nadu might have once wanted to date a Tamil man because they would better understand each other, but that is no longer the case in 2025. Several people from one corner of the country have found their love on the other side, giving rise to a phenomenal time of inter-state and cross-cultural connections.

Is long-distance dating brutal or rewarding?

Of course, it’s not all glittery. 12% of online matches in an LDR reveal that the distance can be brutal at times, but they also expressed that the same long distance pushes them to have more meaningful conversations and share more quality time when they finally meet in person. The idea of “taking for granted” is less of a worry in these long-distance digital romances, where every moment counts.

On an interesting note, cross-city daters claim that this format makes dating more exciting; there’s more scope for travel, learning new things about different cultures, and ultimately, there’s greater acceptance and understanding when two people learn about each other’s values, traditions, and lifestyles from scratch.

Producers Guild Of India Commits To Closer Ties With UK Producers| Bollywood Bubble

by jummy84 October 8, 2025
written by jummy84

As part of a wider package of UK partnerships with India announced today, Pact has signed and committed to a new MoU with the Producers Guild of India. Producers Guild of India President, Shibasish Sarkar, apprised UK Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, about the signing of the MoU in their interaction at a meeting of the UK Prime Minister and the visiting UK delegation with the Indian filmmaking community.

Producers Guild Of India Commits To Closer Ties With UK Producers

The MoU follows the cultural cooperation agreement signed by the Minister for Culture, Media and Sport, Lisa Nandy in May this year, and intends to lead to a more collaborative relationship between the UK and Indian production sectors and for both countries to share best practice, projects and ideas. UK TV exports to India have remained consistent over the past five years (£23m in 2023/24), but with these new agreements and the history between the two countries, there is huge potential to increase both exports and co-productions.

As part of the MoU, both countries have committed to an ‘education piece’ about what each country has to offer, and to share best practices, market intelligence, reports on tax credits, co-production information and relevant organisations in each territory.

About The Pact

Pact has participated in a BFI (British Film Institute)-led webinar on the UK for Indian producers, and will host a reverse session for UK producers. These will be followed by co-development and co-production sessions, and introducing UK and Indian companies to each other via online match-making and in-person events in both countries, where possible.

A new MoU between the BFI, the lead organisation for film and the moving image in the UK and its Indian equivalent the NFDC (National Film Development Corporation) will establish a framework of close cooperation across film and broader screen to boost co-production, greater access for audiences, cultural exchange and support for film heritage.

Ross Lewis On The MOU

Pact’s Head of International and Projects, Ross Lewis said, “I’m delighted to be able to renew Pact’s relationship with the Producers Guild of India (PGI) with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). At a time of increased political co-operation between the UK and India, and with our shared history such a rich source of inspiring stories, it feels that the time is right to do all we can to bring together our two world-leading production sectors for even more successful collaborations.”

Shibasish Sarkar On The MOU

Producers Guild of India’s President Shibasish Sarkar said, “The United Kingdom is already a popular destination for Indian filmmakers who choose to film abroad, and the time is ripe now to take that engagement to the next level by widening and deepening ties between the filmmaking communities of both nations. I am confident that our relationship with Pact will act as a catalyst in that process, and we look forward to working closely with our colleagues at Pact to realise the immense potential of India-UK creative collaborations.”

From stonewalling to sharing: How emotionally expressive men are changing dating game in India

Modern Indian dating is evolving, emotionally available men are breaking stereotypes, opening up, and building stronger, more meaningful connections with women.

Being emotionally available is key to forming meaningful connections in dating, but it’s easier said than done. Understanding your own feelings, communicating openly, and being present can help you build trust, intimacy, and stronger relationships. Ravi Mittal, founder and CEO of QuackQuack, shares with HT Lifestyle how you can become more emotionally available and navigate modern dating with confidence. How modern Indian men are redefining dating

For a long time, Indian society has held two firm beliefs about men: they don’t talk about their feelings, and they don’t cry. Men were expected to provide, protect, and take care, but asking to be taken care of, or showing vulnerability- wasn’t considered “manly.”

The good news? Over the past few years, modern dating, amplified by virtual platforms, has started to dismantle these stereotypes. Men are no longer bottling up emotions, and love has become far more enjoyable when communication flows both ways.

Modern dating trends show millennials and Gen Z prefer emotionally available partners. (Pexels )

Why are emotionally expressive men more desirable

A survey by the Indian dating app QuackQuack shows that 3 in 5 men now openly discuss vulnerabilities and share their flaws and red flags during the initial chatting phase itself. Surveys indicate that emotionally available men are increasingly desirable to women.

Profiles that include statements like “I go to therapy every Sunday” or “Still moving on from the last breakup but open to connections” receive more attention for their honesty. Emotional availability has even surpassed the traditional “six-pack abs and over six feet” checklist in desirability. Millennials and Gen Z are leading this change, seeking partners who communicate openly and rejecting toxic masculinity traits like hot-and-cold behaviour or stonewalling.

Traditional gender roles are slowly fading as women take the lead while men embrace being wooed. Relationships thrive when both partners communicate openly. Vulnerable, emotionally available men are not only attractive, but they also help build stronger, more sustainable connections.

India is becoming increasingly the focus for international music, and 2025 looks set to be an annus mirabilis for fans. Following hot on the heels of news that John Mayer will be touring India, global EDM phenomenon Calvin Harris has been confirmed to play his eagerly awaited debut in India.

The Grammy-winning Scottish DJ and producer will play in two key cities under a special tour tie-up with Sunburn. Calvin Harris will make his debut live performances in India at Mumbai on November 8 and Bengaluru on November 9, 2025. Tickets will go on a limited pre-sale for chosen credit card members beginning October 6 at 12 PM IST, followed by general ticket sales from October 8 at 12 PM IST, only on BookMyShow.

Harris, with his energetic performances and international hits, is likely to deliver an experience never to be forgotten to Indian audiences. Fans await his performances of hit songs like “We Found Love,” “One Kiss,” “Outside,” “Summer,” “Blame,” “This Is What You Came For,” and his recent hit “Blessings.” These concerts are likely to attract huge fan bases as Harris displays his skills as a DJ and songwriter that have earned him a place among the most prominent voices in the international EDM industry.

Calvin Harris started off in music with his debut album I Created Disco in 2007 and has since been churning out hits and collaborations in galore. His high-energy style and worldwide popularity make him an ideal addition to India’s fast-growing list of international acts.

On the personal front, Harris wed British TV and radio host Vick Hope in 2023. The couple had their first child, a boy, in August 2025, bringing a new chapter in his life after music.

‘If I could dance, maybe Bollywood could work’: Enrique Iglesias on return to India and its ‘amazing energy’ | Exclusive

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

If you are not a young Millennial, it is perhaps hard to describe the chokehold Enrique Iglesias had on an entire generation in the 2000s. The singer remains one of the most influential musicians of our time, and also one of the most popular international artists in India. That is why it is hard to understand why his last visit to these shores was in 2012. It may have taken 13 years, but Enrique is back, or at least he is en route.

HT EXCLUSIVE | Enrique Iglesias talks about his India return.

The singer will perform in Mumbai in October. Ahead of the much-anticipated visit, the multi-platinum singer spoke to Hindustan Times about India, the evolution of his music, and Bollywood, among other things.

On the return to India

When Enrique’s India visit was first announced in June, there was only one show scheduled. But the demand for tickets was so high that it sold out in minutes, and the promoters added another. Was the singer surprised? He says, “You never know when you first announce, but I will say that I had a great feeling about India specifically. The fans there are so amazing and dedicated.”

Enrique says he is in awe of India’s energy, something that makes the crowds here and performances very different. “The energy is incredible. The crowds, the fans, the people….EVERYTHING is always amazing,” he says. But then what took him 13 years to return to this ‘amazing’ place? “It just takes time to go around the world and then return. I would definitely love to come here more often in the future,” says Enrique.

The October concert will be Enrique Iglesias' first performance in India since 2012.
The October concert will be Enrique Iglesias’ first performance in India since 2012.

On Indian music and Bollywood

During his last visit to India, Enrique expressed his admiration for Indian music. He has collaborated with Sunidhi Chauhan, among other Indian artistes, over the years. “I am always listening and watching,” he says, as the conversation moves to Indian music. He adds, “I have done duets and remixes in the past with various Indian artists and am always considering the future.”

Everything about Enrique’s music and persona is very Indian. He is a heartthrob who sings, which begs the question as to why nobody from Bollywood has cast him yet. “Have there been offers?” we ask him. “If I could dance, maybe it would work,” he responds with a smile.

At 50, Enrique is completing 30 years in the music industry. It has been a while. When asked what changes he has seen in his music and style, the singer flips the question. “I would divert that question right back to the fans,” he says. But is there something he would change in his journey so far? Never to be outwitted, Enrique has the perfect reply ready: “I would have loved to come to India hundreds of more times.”

Enrique Iglesias’ India concert

Enrique will perform at the MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai on 29 and 30 October. Produced and promoted by EVA Live in partnership with BEW Live, this concert marks the multi-platinum-selling artist’s highly anticipated return to India after 13 years.

Amitabh Bachchan Trolls Pakistan, Mammootty, Anupam Kher & Others Cheer for India After Asia Cup Win

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

India won its 9th Asia Cup in a thrilling final last night, defeating Pakistan in Dubai. However, after the match, India refused to accept the trophy or medals from ACC President and Pakistan’s PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi, citing tensions between the two countries, especially after the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year. Several Indian celebrities took to social media to celebrate India’s win and congratulate the team. Some also trolled the Pakistan team.

Actor Anil Kapoor wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “India Zindabad.” Superstar Mammootty shared a picture and expressed, “Team India didn’t just win the Asia Cup, they owned it. Champions without a single defeat. Absolutely magnificent!”

Anupam Kher added, “Bharat Mata ki jay! Kya baat hai (Wow)! What a game! Oh my God. Jeetenge bhai jeetenge. Bharat Mata ki jay (We will win. Hail India)! Vande Mataram. Khush ho gaya dil. Kya bolun main (I’m so happy. What do I say?). Superb. Proud of my country, proud of this cricket team. Fantastic, very well played. God bless them.”

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan took this opportunity to troll former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar. For some context, Akhtar recently made a slip of the tongue and referred to Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma as Abhishek Bachchan. He said in an interview, “If Pakistan manage to get Abhishek Bachchan out in a hypothetical situation, what happens to India’s middle order?” before he was quickly corrected by the host. Reacting to this, Abhishek had tweeted, “Sir, with all due respect… don’t think they’ll even manage that! And I’m not even good at playing cricket.”

Big B referred to this while trolling the Pakistan team after their defeat. He wrote, “Jeet Gaye! Several other celebrities, such as Sidharth Malhotra, Ali Fazal, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ranveer Singh, Angad Bedi, Preity Zinta, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, among others, cheered for India. Take a look at their reactions:

The Ba***ds of Bollywood actor Raghav Juyal, who was in Dubai, told ANI, “Bohot acha laga aaj. Aur main apne bacchon ko bataunga ki main ye legendary match dekhne aaya tha. Bilkul kamaal ho gaya (It felt so good today. I will even tell my children that I came to watch this legendary match. Absolutely amazing).”
