8 Best Silk Pillowcases We Tested for Smooth Skin and Hair 2025

by jummy84 October 16, 2025
written by jummy84

“Washing or changing your pillowcase at least once a week ensures you are consistently removing bacteria, dirt, oil, hair products, skin care products, dust, and other allergens that accumulate over the week,” Dr. Salame says. “If you have acne-prone or sensitive skin, washing or changing your pillowcases every two to three days reduces the oils, bacteria, dust, and other particles that build up on the pillowcase and can be the first step to improving your skin. If you are someone who sweats overnight or uses extensive hair products, washing or changing your pillowcase every one to two days is also recommended.”

Wondering how to wash silk pillowcases? Make sure to read the product’s specific care instructions. Some can go in the washing machine on a cold, gentle cycle (ideally in a mesh delicates bag), while others require hand-washing in lukewarm or cold water. Air-drying is best, since heat can weaken the fibers and cause shrinkage, though many brands allow low-heat tumble-drying if needed. To keep them looking fresh, you can steam or lightly iron on a low setting to remove wrinkles.

As for longevity, silk pillowcases are delicate but surprisingly durable when cared for properly. Expect them to last for years, especially if you choose a higher momme count, which makes the weave denser and stronger. Most testers noticed small changes—like loss of sheen, extra wrinkling, or stains—around the six-month mark, but the pillowcases remained soft and usable well beyond that.

Boney Kapoor’s hair transplant expert explains dos and don’ts of post hair transplant care

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Now that you’ve got your new set of hair via hair transplant, comes the bigger responsibility of taking good care of it. Just like any other surgical method, hair transplantation also comes with a certain set of dos and don’ts. Be it as casual as shampooing your hair or applying any hair care product on your scalp, proper and careful post hair transplant care is crucial to protect your new grafts, maintain scalp health, and ensure long-lasting, natural-looking results.

Hair transplant expert reveals some dos and don’ts(Pexels)

Dr Arika Bansal, Senior Hair Transplant Surgeon, Eugenix Hair Sciences, who has had celebrity clients including film producer Boney Kapoor, singer Shankar Mahadevan and cricketers like Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Azharuddin, tells HT Lifestyle that post hair transplant, you should shampoo your hair, using a mild shampoo with light hands. She also insists on trying a sulphate-free shampoo for better results.

In this ultimate guide in consultation with Dr Bansal, we have listed some of the basic guidelines and precautions to consider after your hair transplantation procedure.

1. Shampoo only after a week

“It is advisable to shampoo your hair only after the seventh day of the treatment,” suggests Dr Bansal. She also recommends using a normal saline spray on the recipient and donor areas to keep the area clean. “For the first week, I would recommend you to use a Betadine scrub on the areas from where the dermat extracts the grafts. Another thing to consider before shampooing your hair is to use lukewarm water, which is neither too hot nor too cold,” she adds.

2. Hair products should wait more

The expert advises against using any hair care products or medications after a month. “I usually ask my patients that they should wait for at least a month actually post procedure before applying any kind of hair product,” she suggests. However, she gives a green signal to hair dyes and hair colours. “When it comes to hair dye or hair colour, I would recommend that they can start using that 2 to 3 weeks after the date of procedure, Dr Bansal suggests. She also insists on using only the ammonia-free and PPD-free hair colours or dyes that does not irritate scalp. Moreover, she suggests refraining from hair waxes or hair gels altogether on transplanted hair.

3. Common symptoms post hair transplant

“One of the most common symptoms that most patients have witnessed post hair transplant is swelling of the forehead and face. This can happen in 2 to 3 days after the procedure”, Dr Bansal says.

4. Say no to mobile phones

The expert says people should restrict using a mobile phone after your hair transplant, especially while bending down your head. “Sit erect and using massage your forehead post procedure so that they do not end up having any kind of swelling”, she adds. One of the other side effects that you may see is a little bit of numbness in the recipient area and in the donor area, which heals very fast in a matter of 4 to 6 weeks.

5. Stay indoors as much as you can

“After the hair transplant, it is advisable to stay indoors as much as possible,” Dr Bansal says. “Dust and pollutants can develop few follicuticles, leading to bacterial infection, however, you can continue activities like gymming, running, yoga, exercise, and swimming after the 8th day of the procedure,” she adds.

6. Avoid junk food

Junk food is a big no post hair transplant, as your body is still recuperating from the surgical procedures. Dr Bansal insists on eating on a balanced diet and a lot of green leafy vegetables instead. “We also give some mild antibiotics for a period of 5 to 7 days post procedure,” she shares.

7. Yoga can prevent hair graying

Premature graying of hair cannot be delayed, yoga, and calcium supplements could help. “Breathing exercises, early morning exercises like pranayama can help in preventing gray hair along with a good night sleep and having a balanced diet”, she suggests.

A successful hair transplant doesn’t end with the surgery, it begins there. Following this aftercare, avoiding harmful practices and adopting healthy habits are essential to protect your scalp and ensure natural, lasting results.

Quiet luxury is fine, but this fall, the chicest people know that louder and more maximalist pieces are the far more forward way to look luxurious. I’m talking about elements like tactile pony-hair finishes, luscious silk staples, sumptuous suede, and everything espresso brown that are the foundations for the most wealth-coded wardrobes of fall 2025.

I, for one, can’t get enough of the trend and after doing a deep-dive into the Nordstrom fall collections, I’m convinced that the retailer is home to the most elite assortment. Every once in a while (okay fine, at least once per week) I like to spend an hour or so flipping through the site’s new arrivals just for fun and on the latest occasion I made it my mission to source the most luxurious and quite frankly expensive-looking items the retailer has to offer right now. From calf-hair belts to suede bags and croc-embossed boots, continue on to shop the items that will make the chicest impact in your fall wardrobe.

Navjot Singh Sidhu recalls Kapil Sharma’s early days: ‘He had no hair, a potbelly, looked 45′

by jummy84 October 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Navjot Singh Sidhu, who made a grand return to entertainment earlier this year with The Great Indian Kapil Show, is back in the spotlight once again. After wrapping up the Netflix comedy talk show, Sidhu is all set to appear as a judge on India’s Got Talent. In a recent interview with Navbharat Times, the former cricketer and television personality spoke candidly about his struggles, his admiration for Kapil Sharma, and a memorable encounter with former U.S. President George W. Bush.

Navjot Singh Sidhu returns to the entertainment scene as a judge on India’s Got Talent after his stint on The Great Indian Kapil Show, sharing insights on Kapil Sharma’s journey.

Navjot talks about Kapil Sharma’s talent

Reflecting on his journey, Sidhu shared how pursuing one’s passion often comes with challenges. “Following your passion isn’t easy. Parents and society rarely encourage it. The biggest disease in the world is ‘what will people say.’ Talent needs a platform and without opportunity, it means nothing. Kapil Sharma, for example, used to work for ₹100 at Bhullar’s theatre society. Then, when he first appeared on TV in 2006, he had no hair, a potbelly, and looked like a 45-year-old. But when he performed on a bigger platform, his talent shone. In the IPL, people also become stars overnight because they get a bigger platform.”

Sidhu’s one-liners have always been quite loved. In fact, his quotes have been termed as Sidhuism by fans, and this tag also seemed to fascinate former US president George Bush. Recalling how Bush wanted to meet him after learning about Sidhuism, Navjot Singh Sidhu shared, “When I was in the BJP, Sardar Manmohan Singh invited me to dinner. His PA called and told me that George Bush was coming and asked what Sidhuism was. He was told that whatever this man says becomes Sidhuism. So he said, ‘I want to meet him.’ When I went, he asked me to quote a quote on positivity. I said, ‘Keep your face towards the sun so you never have to see your shadow.’ He laughed, but I didn’t plan these things. I just speak from the heart, and people connect with it.”

Kapil Sharma’s journey

Kapil is one of India’s most celebrated comedians and television personalities. He first gained national attention after winning The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2007, which opened doors to a flourishing career in entertainment. His sharp wit, relatable humour, and impeccable timing helped him create Comedy Nights with Kapil in 2013, a show that became a cultural phenomenon and made him a household name.

Kapil later launched The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony TV, attracting Bollywood’s biggest stars and millions of loyal viewers every weekend. Beyond television, he has ventured into films like Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon and Zwigato. His last project was Netflix special The Great Indian Kapil Show season 3.

Celebs Love Emi Jay’s ’90s-Inspired Claw Clips — Now the Founder Predicts the Next Nostalgic Hair Trend

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Throwback with your hair back! Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez have all hopped on the ’90s claw clip revival — a look once made iconic by Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts, and Jennifer Aniston — thanks to Emi Jay.

Founded by Julianne Goldmark, the brand has become a go-to for It-girls wanting to sweep their hair up in seconds while still making a chic statement.

“It’s been so special to see claw clips come back in the way that they have, especially since they’re part of Emi Jay’s DNA,” Goldmark tells ET.

Jim McIsaac/Getty Images

The 30-year-old entrepreneur sees her clips, headbands, pins, bows, and scrunchies as little jewels for your hair and the finishing touch that makes any outfit pop.

“Hair accessories are like your staple pair of small gold hoops. They pull everything together, even with jeans and a tee. A hair accessory makes the whole look feel more intentional and polished without trying too hard,” she notes.

And the best part? No heat or hours in front of the mirror are required.

Hailey Bieber/Instagram

“We all love a look that’s cute but doesn’t take forever. … There’s something satisfying about a quick, effortless updo that still looks intentional while keeping your hair out of your face.”

While the claw clip craze shows no signs of slowing down, Goldmark already has her eye on what’s next.

“Ponytail barrettes and tortoise barrettes are going to have a nice moment this fall and winter in an elevated way,” she predicts.

TheStewartofNY/Getty Images

In addition to her signature accessories, Goldmark swears by her line’s Heavenly Hair Milk, Halo Hair Oil, Angelstick, brushes, and the new Toasted Sugar Aura Hair Mist to keep her strands shiny and strong.

“Healthy hair has always been so important to me because it just makes you feel yourself, but better. When your hair feels soft, shiny, and nourished, it’s amazing how much more confident you feel, even on a busy day.”

8 Best Gels for Curly Hair 2025, Tested On Different Curl Types

by jummy84 September 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Our reviewer says: “Lately, a wash-and-go has been my primary hairstyle, as my curls just won’t behave in a twist-out during the humid months,” says Glamour senior visuals editor Lauren Brown. “That’s where the Pattern Curl Gel has been a real game changer for me. It’s great for a quick curl refresh in the shower after a couple days. Like all the hair-care products on this line, the fragrance is intoxicatingly fresh, like cucumbers in cocktail.”

Best for Fine Hair: Rizos Curls Light Hold Gel

  • Courtesy of brand

  • Rizos Curls Light Hold Gel

Original photo from Malia Griggs testing Rizos Curls Light Hold Gel

Rizos Curls Light Hold Gel (8 fl. oz.)

  • What we love: Lightweight, flexible hold; scrunches out easily; leaves curls soft
  • Worth noting: For coarser curls, may want heavier gel

This lightweight gel defines curls without stiffness, keeping them touchable and bouncy while reducing frizz. Formulated with aloe vera, flaxseed, and thyme, it locks in shape and shine without parabens, silicones, or sulfates. Our tester with 3A curls found that it enhanced definition on wash day and kept frizzy hair at bay through day two without flaking or weighing it down. The cast scrunched out easily, leaving curls soft and natural-looking.

Our reviewer says: “I like how light this gel is on my fine curls. Other gels I’ve tried make them feel stiff and look greasy, even after I scrunch out the cast, but with this, my curls are very soft and bouncy. It’s pretty fragrantly perfumed, which I don’t love, but not so badly that I won’t keep using it after my leave-in and foam, then followed by a diffuser,” says Glamour commerce editor Malia Griggs.

Best for Humidity: Bumble Curl Anti-Humidity Frizz Gel Oil

  • Bumble and Bumble Curl Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil

  • Bumble and Bumble Curl Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil

Bumble and Bumble Curl Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil (5 fl. oz.)

  • What we love: Defines curls without crunch; resists humidity; thin, easy-to-distribute formula
  • Worth noting: Can feel a little drying; fragrance is strong and sweet

This hybrid gel-oil smooths frizz while giving curls hold and definition that lasts. The clear formula is lightweight but substantial enough to create a cast that scrunches out softly, leaving hair touchable instead of stiff. Our tester with 3C curls found that the product shaped spirals beautifully and resisted humidity, though it left some dryness by the end of the day.

Our tester says: “The gel defined my 3C curls really well and gave me a great look, though I did notice some dryness as the day went on,” says Glamour reviewer Páton Hardy. “The fragrance across the line was strong but pleasant—fruity, sweet, and similar to a perfume I’d wear—so it wasn’t off-putting. The shampoo lathered up quickly and felt very slippery, while the conditioner was thicker and hydrating. The gel itself was see-through and thin, easy to apply without running everywhere, and it dried down without leaving my hair crunchy.”

Best for Definition: Aveda Be Curly Advanced Coil Definer Gel

  • Aveda Be Curly Advanced Coil Definer Gel

  • Aveda Be Curly Advanced Coil Definer Gel

Original photo from Sarah Holden testing Aveda Be Curly Advanced Coil Definer Gel

Aveda Be Curly Advanced Coil Definer Gel

  • What we love: Strong definition; smooths frizz; adds bounce and shine
  • Worth noting: Works best outside of extreme humidity; pair with with heavier-hold gel if you need extra staying power

Formulated for tighter curl patterns, this gel gives coils long-lasting definition and frizz protection without leaving them stiff. Coily hair—characterized by densely packed curls that are prone to dryness—often needs gels that balance moisture with enough hold to keep styles in place. With wheat-derived amino acids to smooth and strengthen strands and mango butter to nourish and hydrate, this formula helps coils stay soft, defined, and resilient.

Selena Gomez's Colorist Nikki Lee Spills the Star's Wedding Day Hair Secrets (and Tips Every Bride Can Steal)

Selena Gomez’s Colorist Nikki Lee Spills the Star’s Wedding Day Hair Secrets (and Tips Every Bride Can Steal)

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Beautiful bride! Selena Gomez tied the knot with Benny Blanco on Saturday, Sept. 27, in a stunning Santa Barbara, California ceremony. But before she walked down the aisle, the Rare Beauty founder made sure her luscious locks were every bit as magical as her fairytale moment

A week before the big day, the Only Murders in the Building actress enjoyed pre-wedding hair TLC with her longtime colorist and Nine Zero One co-owner Nikki Lee.

“There’s a lot that goes into wedding prep, and your hair color is no exception,” Lee tells ET.

Petra Collins

“When I helped Selena get ready for her wedding, we talked about how she planned to wear her hair down, so it was extra important that her color was rich, luminous, and frizz-free.”

To achieve this, Lee whipped up a custom blend of Wella Shinefinity (6/0, 5/37, and clear) for a warm, elegant tone with mirror-like shine, followed by an Ultimate Smooth treatment to boost reflection and keep the singer’s hair smooth.

The end result? “Sophisticated, radiant, and completely timeless. She was the most stunning bride,” the hair guru gushes.

To emulate Gomez’s flawless look, Lee suggests brides-to-be give their strands extra attention leading up to the celebration.

Selena Gomez/Instagram

“Begin treatments as soon as you can. Wella’s Ultimate Repair line is my go-to for strengthening and prepping strands before doing any big color work.”

Next, choose a shade that feels classic to you with the help of an expert.

“Schedule a consultation with your colorist to talk through your inspiration and find the look that flatters you best,” she advises.

Lee encourages every bride to ask themselves, “When I look back at my photos in 20 years, will this feel like a fleeting trend or like my most beautiful, authentic self?”

Nikki Lee/Instagram

Timing matters too, so be sure to book your appointment 8 weeks out.

“This gives you enough time to live with your new color and make sure it feels perfect,” the hair expert explains.

And her golden rule? “Skip the last-minute drastic changes,” Lee laughs.

Instead, she suggests one last polish just before your wedding.

“This is the moment to refine your color, add shine, and keep stress levels low. … Stick with a gloss and treatment.”

All the Details on Selena Gomez’s Elegant Wedding Hair

by jummy84 September 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Forever begins now: Selena Gomez married producer and songwriter Benny Blanco last night at an intimate ceremony in Santa Barbara, California. In a series of (very chic) photos the star posted to Instagram, we can clearly see that Gomez’s look radiated timeless elegance—from her halter Ralph Lauren gown to her iridescent, oval-shaped nails to her glamorous, old Hollywood bob.

We’re still waiting with bated breath for those nail details (more to come, we’re sure, from celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik!), but Who What Wear did score a coveted hair breakdown from her longtime stylist Renato Campora. He calls the style a “Hollywood glamour marcel wave bob,” given its deep side part and 1930s-inspired S-shaped bends. It’s a slight departure from traditional bridal hairstyles—that is, sweeping updos, sleek chignons, and half-up, half-down twists—but it’s such a romantic choice I expect countless 2026 brides will recreate. Eagle-eyed beauty fans may even notice Gomez wore a very similar ‘do to this year’s Oscars back in March, which was also coiffed by Campora.

Coincidence? We think not—but there’s no better time for a potential wedding hair trial than Hollywood’s biggest night, right? Scroll ahead for all the details on Gomez’s wavy wedding bob, straight from Campora himself.

Selena Gomez's wedding dress

Campora began by washing Gomez’s hair twice with Joico Defy Damage Protective Shampoo, followed by a 30-minute treatment with the Joico Defy Damage KBOND20 Power Masque. “This powerful combination resets the hair by removing buildup and thoroughly cleansing the hair,” he says in a release. “The result is hair that’s primed to absorb essential nutrients, reduce frizz, enhancing moisture, shine, strength, and protection from heat styling.”

After towel-drying Gomez’s lengths and applying Joico’s Dream Blowout Glass 72HR Frizz Fighter throughout her strands, he used a rat-tail comb to create a deep side part. He then separated the hair into two-inch sections, treated each with Joico JoiWhip Design Foam from roots to ends, and blow-dried with a large round brush, making sure to pin each section to set and cool. “I continued this technique across the entire head to achieve a voluminous and polished base,” he shares. “Once cooled, the hair is noticeably shiny, bouncy, and full of life.”

Selena Gomez's wedding dress

“For styling, I begin at the front of the head, just above the ear, working in one-inch horizontal sections,” he continues. He sprayed each section with Joico Heat Hero Glossing Thermal Protector, then used a three-quarter-inch spring curling iron to create those marcel waves—again, pinning each section to cool and set. “I repeated this motion across the front, then moved to the opposite side, and finally the back—starting at the nape and working upward,” he adds.

Once the curls cooled for 20 minutes, “I removed the pins and gently brushed through each section to blend the waves together,” Campora explains. “Special attention is given to the face-framing pieces, which are shaped to highlight and enhance the facial structure.” A generous mist of shine-inducing hair spray to finish, and there you have it: “A flawless, timeless, healthy-looking Hollywood glamour marcel wave bob for a day that celebrates love, beauty, and perfection.”
