This Diwali, movie lovers got two big releases on the same day, Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. Both films were released on October 21, 2025, and soon became the subject of conversation around the city. Thamma follows and expands the fan-favorite Maddock horror-comedy universe, while Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat narrates an intense love story filled with anger, obsession, and heartbreak.

Thamma vs Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat – IMDb Ratings

Currently, Thamma is rated 6.5 out of 10 on IMDb with more than 41K votes. Approximately 1.8K individuals have already marked it on their watchlist. On the other hand, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat ratings were rated at 5.2 with 1.2K votes.

Additionally, around 1.4K users have added the movie to their watchlist. Both films are still being screened, so these ratings may change depending on the number of viewers who watch and rate them on the platform.

Thamma vs Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat – Box Office Numbers

Thamma is performing very well at the box office. The film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna has earned 84.31 crore in India and 11.30 crore overseas in just four days. This brings its total worldwide collection to 95.61 crore.

Meanwhile, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has managed to collect 32.49 crore net in India and around 38.33 crore gross in four days. Though the numbers are lower, the movie has found its own audience, especially among fans of emotional dramas.

Thamma vs Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat – Storylines & Appeal

Thamma is the fifth movie in Maddock’s horror comedy universe. A-list actors Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal are among those taking a major part in the film. The plot revolves around a journalist who encounters a mysterious woman and later transforms into a vampire-like creature named Betal. The hero must engage in battle to defeat an ancient evil that threatens to drive the world to ruin.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat tells the story of Vikramaditya, a politician who falls deeply in love with Adaa. His love for Adda turns into an obsession and control, leading to unexpected consequences.

Thamma vs Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat – Final Verdict

Both films have created buzz for different reasons, but Thamma is clearly leading in ratings and box office numbers. Its mix of horror and comedy has connected well with audiences, while Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat appeals to those who enjoy emotional love stories. For now, Thamma stands stronger, but the race is still on as more people share their reviews.

“There’s something wrong with this place. There’s something bad here. I can hear it in the walls.” Quiver Distribution has revealed their official trailer for an indie horror film titled The Beldham, another horror about motherhood and life after having a baby. This premiered last year at the 2024 Sitges and Austin Film Festivals and a few others, and will be out on VOD soon. A struggling young mother fights a generations-old presence lurking within her family home, threatening her safety, her sanity, and the life of her infant child. Starring Patricia Heaton, Corbin Bernsen, Katie Parker, Emma Fitzpatrick. A new mother named Harper returns to her childhood home, only to face a malevolent, age-old entity lurking in the walls. As the haunting escalates, she’s pushed to the brink to protect her baby — and her mind. All these nice birds are being turned into villains in this film! They don’t seem so scary — it’s the creepy witch in the walls that does.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Angela Gulner’s horror film The Beldham, direct from YouTube:

The Beldham Poster

When she first got pregnant, Harper (Katie Parker) already knew that having a child wasn’t going to be an easy task. What she never expected was to have to deal with a generations-old evil presence that has been living on the family’s farm. Katie Parker, a recurring actress in Mike Flanagan’s works, and Cobin Bernsen, known for The Dentist, among other roles, star in this harrowing tale of ghosts and first-time mothers. The Beldham is written and directed by American writer / actress / filmmaker Angela Gulner, making her feature directorial debut with this film. It’s produced by Talia Bella, Angela Gulner, Mark Meir, Randy Wayne. This first premiered at the 2024 Sitges & Austin Film Festivals last year. Quiver Distr. debuts Gulner’s The Beldham horror film direct-to-VOD starting November 7th, 2025 this fall. Who’s intrigued?

“Find your voice. Speak the truth.” Transmission Films has debuted an official trailer for the Scottish film titled I Swear, which is already playing in UK cinemas now. This film about a young man with Tourette’s premiered at TIFF last month and already hit theaters early in October in the UK + Ireland only so far. From acclaimed director Kirk Jones (of Waking Ned Devine, Nanny McPhee, Everybody’s Fine, What to Expect When You’re Expecting) and based on a true story. Diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome at age 15, John Davidson faced and overcame many hardships from adolescence and into early adulthood as a result of what was a little known and entirely misunderstood condition in 1980s Britain. I Swear is a funny, heartfelt and moving account of John’s experiences. It also shows the process of the securing & filming of the 1989 TV documentary John’s Not Mad, at a time when his Tourette’s condition was barely identifiable. Starring actor Robert Aramayo (who also plays Elrond in The Rings of Power) as John, with Peter Mullan, Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson, Paul Donnelly, and Scott Ellis Watson. This looks like a good discovery – a coming-of-age story wrapped up in a tale of what life is like with Tourette’s. Check out the footage below.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for Kirk Jones’ film I Swear, direct from YouTube:

I Swear Film Poster

Intro via TIFF: Based on an inspirational true story, I Swear charts the remarkable journey of a Scottish man whose life was irrevocably changed by the sudden onset of Tourette’s syndrome. A bright, funny, football-mad lad with everything ahead of him, 15-year-old John Davidson’s life seemingly splinters in 1983 when he develops uncontrollable vocal & physical tics when Tourette’s was barely understood, even by doctors. Feeling ostracized by the world around him — including his family — he retreats into years of relative isolation, burdened by the anxiety, shame, and loneliness… Everything shifts when John (now in his late 20s) meets Dottie, no-nonsense mother of a former schoolmate, who has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The bond that forms between them is as unexpected as it is life-changing. With her fierce encouragement & unwavering support, John finds belonging, purpose, and confidence to be himself.

I Swear is written and directed by BAFTA-nominated British filmmaker Kirk Jones, director of the films Waking Ned Devine, Nanny McPhee, Everybody’s Fine, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 previously. It’s produced by Georgia Bayliff, Piers Tempest, and Kirk Jones. This recently premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival playing within their Centerpiece selection. Studiocanal already released Jones’ I Swear in UK + Irish cinemas starting October 10th, 2025 this fall. It’s already playing in cinemas now. No US release date is set yet – stay tuned for updates. Thamma worldwide box office collection day 4: Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s film is inching close to the ₹100 crore mark.

Thamma worldwide box office collection day 4: Even as Thamma is facing some slowdown at the box office over the weekdays, the Maddock Films horror comedy continues to gallop towards the ₹100-crore mark worldwide. After an impressive start at the domestic box office, the film picked up pace overseas too on Thursday and Friday, solidifying its chances of a good lifetime haul.

Thamma worldwide box office collection day 4: Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna star in this horror comedy.

Thamma worldwide box office update

Thamma, a vampire story, earned ₹65.15 crore net ( ₹78.20 crore gross) in India over the first four days of its release. This included a more-than-impressive ₹24 crore start on Diwali, followed by a continuous decline over the next three weekdays. To its credit, the film managed to avoid too large a drop in collections on any of those days, limiting the dips to 25% or under. But even then, its daily collection was down to ₹9.55 crore net by Friday.

However, overseas, the film reversed the trend. In the first two days of release, Thamma barely managed to scratch the surface of overseas collections as it did not get the benefit of a festive release outside India (Diwali is not a holiday in most major international markets). But as the weekend arrived, Thamma picked up pace. It has now earned almost $1.6 million in the overseas territories in four days, and is promising to go past the $3 million mark in the first week itself.

This takes Thamma’s worldwide collection after four days to an impressive ₹93 crore. On Friday, it surpassed the lifetime collection of Maddock’s recent romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf, which ended its run at ₹89 crore worldwide. The film is now set to cross the ₹100 crore mark on Saturday.

All about Thamma

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma is the story of a journalist (Ayushmann Khurrana) who gets caught up in the power struggle of vampires (Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui). The film is part of the larger Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, and is hence connected to the Stree films, Bhediya, and Munjya. It has been praised for its humour, visual effects, and starry cameos.

“This is no field trip. Don’t let the plants and birds fool you.” Goldwyn Films has revealed an official trailer for a film called Escobank, an action thriller about a gang of criminals after Escobar’s missing, supposedly buried money in the dense jungles outside of Medellin. The film will be out to watch on VOD in November if anyone wants to follow. Escobank is the story of a ragtag group of misfits, veterans and ex-cons who embark on a perilous journey in the jungles of Colombia to find the buried barrels of cash left behind by legendary drug kingpin. Also known as Escobank: The Hunt For Pablo Escobar’s Lost Fortune. Avi Haddad, Miami’s Prince of Crime, leads his crew to Colombia to find the buried fortune. Haunted by past seekers’ fates and true intentions, tensions rise in the jungle. Avi’s lawyer, Sandy, joins—but her own secrets may be deadlier than the jungle itself. Starring Zohar Liba, Dana Frider, Angel Bonnani, Geroge Iskandar, Rodrigo Poisón, and Harlys Becerra. As expected, this looks atrociously bad. Cheesy filmmaking with awful performances and everything. Avoid at all costs – unless you just have to find out where the money is.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Orit Sher’s action thriller Escobank, direct from YouTube:

A notorious group of criminals, each with a haunting past, found themselves in desperate need of cash for their own reasons. At the helm was Avi Haddad, infamous Prince of Crime in Miami, who rallied his crew for a perilous adventure to Colombia in search of the elusive fortune buried by Escobar in the jungles of Medellin, near a shadowy place whispered about as “Heirs Village.” Armed with a treasure map detailing the money’s location, they plunged into the jungle, only to be haunted by the chilling stories of those who had sought the treasure but never returned. The mounting dread began to take its toll, as they grappled with their own demons & began to uncover the true faces behind their masks. Joining this gritty ensemble was Avi’s captivating lawyer, Sandy Ross, drawing her into an act of murder. In an instant, her career crumbles, but Avi persuades her to accompany him, believing she might be his good luck charm. Little does he know, Sandy also holds secrets that could turn her into the very danger lurking beneath the surface…

Escobank is written and directed by Israeli actress / filmmaker Orit Sher, making her feature directorial debut with this film. With additional writing by Sharon Shaked; based on a story by Yaron Nativ. It’s also poduced by Yaron Nativ; exec produced by Shirly Balila, Haim Yehezkel, Yaron Nativ. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Samuel Goldwyn Films will debut Orit Sher’s Escobank film direct-to-VOD starting on November 14th, 2025 coming soon this fall. “5 floors. 4 neighbors. 3 cops. 2 bodies. 1 night.” Can you handle the pressure? Vertical unveiled the official trailer for an indie film titled Bunny, a dark comedy set in New York City. This first premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year in the Narrative Competition section, though it didn’t win any awards. Two best friends rally the spunky neighbors of their tenement building to help them hide a dead body and get through the night. The first feature directed by actor Ben Jacobson, who also co-stars. It was shot on location right in the big city. Over one wild, sweltering summer day & night in their East Village tenement, streetwise hustler Bunny and his best friend Dino scheme with a crew of eccentric neighbors to cover up a dead body. Chaos reigns as the clock ticks and the heat rises… Starring Mo Stark, Ben Jacobson, Liza Colby, and Tony Drazan. This looks like a knock off version of Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing also this year.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for Ben Jacobson’s film Bunny, direct from Vertical’s YouTube:

Via SXSW: “Bunny is a hustler out on a job when things go sideways and he’s thrown into a fight for his life. With the help of his best friend Dino, this fight kicks off one hot, endless, New York summer day spent scheming with the neighbors of their East Village tenement building to try — and repeatedly fail — to hide a dead body. Did I say body? I meant bodies. The cops keep sniffing around, the downstairs neighbors want to party, an Airbnb guest longs for love, an estranged father resurfaces, and Bunny just wants to make it through the night.” Bunny is directed by the indie actor / filmmaker Ben Jacobson, making his feature directorial debut with this film. The screenplay is written by Ben Jacobson, Stefan Marolachakis, Mo Stark. Produced by Scott Dougan, Stefan Marolachakis, Sarah Sarandos, Mo Stark. This first premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year in their Main Competition. Vertical debuts Jacobson’s Bunny film in select US theaters + on VOD starting November 14th, 2025 this fall. Anyone want to watch this?
