Amanda Seyfried, Emily Blunt, Emma Corrin, and More Stepped Out With Miu Miu for Venice Film Festival’s Most Stylish Dinner

There’s no shortage of blowout parties at the Venice Film Festival, during which the film world descends on the city to celebrate premieres from some of the world’s greatest directors. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, there’s no shortage of fashion parties, either. But there are few fashion houses that bridge the gap between those two worlds more naturally than Miu Miu: not only is it a particular favorite for multiple generations of young actresses, it has also, for nearly 15 years now, actively supported new films from women directors via its Miu Miu Women’s Tales program. (The latest chapter in the series, directed by the French filmmaker Alice Diop, premiered at the festival just yesterday.)

So it’s little surprise that Miu Miu’s party on Saturday night was one of the hottest tickets in town. Held at the Fondazione Prada, the event began with a stream of water taxis pulling up to the jetty, followed by guests making their way through the exhibition halls to take in the contemporary art foundation’s latest exhibition, Diagrams. The show, which debuted in May to coincide with the opening week of this year’s Architecture Biennale, seemed perfectly engineered to serve as a conversation starter for the evening ahead: featuring hundreds of rare documents, it explores how diagrams have been used across the centuries for humans to make sense of the world, spanning subjects from war to health, to the environment. (Just the small stuff, then.)

Chatter about the exhibition—and, of course, the various films premiering in Venice this week—could be heard from the third floor of the 18th-century palazzo, where waiters began to circulate with negronis and Champagne, as well as playful canapés of anchovies and butter on toast and miniature cucumber sandwiches served on antique silver platters. The stars arrived in their droves: Amanda Seyfried with Mona Fastvold, the director of her new film The Testament of Ann Lee, in a retro floral halter neck dress. Emma Corrin and Alexa Chung, both wearing the statement bullet bras from the brand’s fall 2025 collection, caught up over plates of freshly sliced mozzarella and ricotta-stuffed courgette flowers. Willem Dafoe and Mrs. Prada were deep in conversation at a table by the window, their companions admiring the 19th-century linen napkins embroidered with the initials of their original owner. The most unexpected sighting, however? Dwayne Johnson, who was in town to promote the new Benny Safdie film The Smashing Machine, and posed for photos alongside his co-star and good friend Emily Blunt. (Is the Rock a Miu Miu girl now?)

The tables were heaving with food everyone could help themselves from—loaded up on Meissen china that belongs to Mrs. Prada herself, which, like the silver platters and napkins, had been ferried over from her home in Milan—and the convivial atmosphere felt a little like being over at the Prada family pad for dinner. You know you’re throwing a good party, after all, when even the actors with premieres the next day are still hanging around at the stroke of midnight.

‘Nadaniyaan was a frivolous film, usme insaan kya hi kar lega’: Zareen defends Ibrahim Ali Khan after lacklustre debut | Bollywood

Actor Zareen Khan may not have delivered many hits in her short Bollywood career, but she does have an opinion to share on the current state of the Hindi film industry. In a new interview, she spoke about the latest batch of ‘nepo kids’ in the industry and how they keep getting chances and movies despite a clear verdict of dislike from the audience. While doing so, she also mentioned the few actors who she does think have the potential to do well.

Khushi Kapoor and Ibrahim Ali Khan in a still from their Netflix film Nadaaniyan.

Zareen Khan’s favourite new stars

Speaking with Faridoon Shahyar, Zareen mentioned actor Ibrahim Ali Khan especially and how he is trying to overcome challenges to make a mark in Bollywood. She also mentioned Alaya F as someone who is very good but is not getting enough projects.

“I like Rasha (Thadani) a lot, honestly. I even like Ibrahim, because I think he has a good physique and has worked hard. He also has his drawbacks—you could say he seems to have some issue with hearing or maybe with speech—but he is someone who is working on himself, and I can see his efforts. But very few from the current lot are like that, very few.

“Even Alaya—I think Alaya is so good. Unfortunately, maybe because she doesn’t have a powerful person backing her the way others do, she hasn’t received that many opportunities. But she is very talented, she is very good. Even the way she speaks—her speech, her conversations—are so good.”

In Nadaaniyaan, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s son Ibrahim starred with Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor. The film was a flop with the actor receiving the harshest criticism.

Whose fault is it anyway?

Zareen said that sometimes it is not the actor’s fault when the film itself is so shoddy. She said, “Like in Ibrahim’s case—Nadaaniyan was, I’m sorry, but I think it was a very frivolous film. What could anyone even do in that? How much acting can you really showcase in such a film? So it depends on the film as well. I’ve seen Sarzameen and it looks like a slightly more intense film, and if you’re saying he is better in this, maybe he needs a director who can guide him.”

Unfortunately, Ibrahim’s performance in Sarzameen was panned as well by critics.

Zareen also gave the example of Junaid Khan and how was perfect for period drama Maharaj and not for romcom Loveyaapa.

Giving her own example, she said, “In Veer I debuted with like the biggest one of the biggest superstars of the country (Salman Khan) and everything but all the criticism that I faced that time it was so difficult for me to get work ahead I did not have a Karan Johar backing me up and irrespective making films for me even if the audience is not has not liked me or whatever you know so I think that matters a lot.”

You also described the film as a sort of scrapbook, and I was interested in how you took that idea of the scrapbook—which is such a physical, tangible thing—and translated it into the medium of film.

It’s funny, because at the very beginning, the working title for this film was Scrapbook for Venus. It was the idea of the notebook of a filmmaker at work, that it would be a compilation of all the artworks that inspire me, that put me to work, that make me think. I like the idea that that remains throughout the film without the title actually revealing it. This film is nourished by all of that, by all these artworks, by all these texts that I had the opportunity to discover through my time in the United States, by the time that I spent wandering around in Bed-Stuy in Brooklyn, all the films that I made before. For instance, there’s a painting by Leonardo da Vinci, La Belle Ferronnière, which really determined the framing in Saint Omer. There’s also a painting by Rembrandt, which is one of my favorite images, that has really influenced how I film. And so, in a sense, this film is a collage of all these different images that have inspired me.

As a director, you have a wonderful eye for costume and its power as a storytelling device. What was your process in terms of integrating the Miu Miu clothes into the film? It felt very organic, but was it a challenge at all?

It wasn’t a challenge at all. For me, fashion is serious business. It’s political business, it’s aesthetic business, it’s cultural business—to dress Sephora in these clothes, a woman who does not have a normative body; to put Kayije basically inside a painting, The Wedding at Cana, through working on the color tones of her costumes. It was really interesting to look at Kayije’s clothes through that lens. These are philosophical and political questions, and playing with the costumes in that regard was really a pleasure, not a challenge. Really, it was at the root of the film as a political question. Questioning the beauty of clothing on a body like Sephora’s is, in my eyes, practically a political statement.

Jacob Elordi, Sofia Coppola, Gemma Chan, and More Toasted to the “Craft of Cinema” With Cartier at Venice Film Festival

On Friday night in Venice, the grande dame hotels lining the Grand Canal were abuzz with parties as the film world headed back from premieres on the Lido and were ready to celebrate their films over a negroni or two. And few events were quite as starry as the dinner held at the Gritti Palace by Cartier and the cult film magazine A Rabbit’s Foot, which saw the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Charles Finch, welcome guests for a dinner of vegetable risotto and grilled fish. Those arriving to the hotel jetty for the evening included Jacob Elordi, in town to promote his starring role in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein; Sofia Coppola and Francis Ford Coppola; Bugonia’s Alicia Silverstone; and the president of this year’s Venice Film Festival jury, Alexander Payne.

Naturally, a series of speeches soon followed, all honoring the “craft of cinema.” First, Finch raised a glass to Cartier’s longstanding commitment to supporting filmmakers (this is the fourth year that the French jewelry house has served as the main sponsor and official partner of the Venice Film Festival). Then, Cartier’s SVP chief marketing officer Arnaud Carrez offered his thanks to Finch for partnering on the event, as well as to the illustrious roll-call of artists seated around the room.

Finally, it was time to head to the Gritti rooftop, which had been transformed for the evening into Venice’s most glittering open-air nightclub for the after-party, with actors Rashida Jones, Gemma Chan, and George Mackay all arriving to sip Champagne and take in the sweeping views over to the dramatically lit Santa Maria della Salute church and the lagoon beyond. Even as those with premieres and press junkets the next day began to peel off, the party continued late into the night as guests blew off steam after a busy first few days at the festival—and left the party chattering about the rest of the films to come over the next week.

All of the Celebrity Fashions at the 2025 Venice Film Festival

The 2025 Venice Film Festival has barely kicked off and, already, it’s star-studded affair: the likes of Julia Roberts, Emma Stone, George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, and Colman Domingo are all set to grace the Lido over the next couple of weeks, and we’ve got our first reports on the fashions from the red carpets.

While focus will, of course, be on this season’s buzziest premieres—including Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein—all eyes will no doubt be on the show-stopping red-carpet style, too. After all, this is the festival that brought us Lady Gaga’s white feathered Valentino couture gown back in 2018, and Zendaya’s wet-look Balmain dress in 2021.

Before the festival had even kicked off, we spotted George and Amal Clooney, and Emma Stone arriving in the Italian city, as well as Greta Gerwig and Laura Dern in the most euro summery fits for the daytime press calls. Following the first set of premieres—including Clooney’s Jay Kelly and Stone’s Bugonia—the style bar was set high. In tandem, the DVF Awards also took place in Venice, with Kim Kardashian in a clingy, sweeping gray Margiela look and a rare appearance for Christy Turlington with her daughter Grace Burns.

We’ve also seen more archival and vintage looks via Frankenstein’s Mia Goth, custom chanel via After the Hunt’s Ayo Edebiri, and Jonathan Anderson’s first Dior Couture look on Alba Rohrwacher.

Below, see all the best looks from the 2025 Venice Film Festival, so far.

First Trailer for Charlie Kaufman’s ‘How to Shoot a Ghost’ Short Film

“What do you want to remember?” Kanopy has debuted the official trailer for a film titled How to Shoot a Ghost, a brand new short film created and directed by the distinct filmmaker / writer Charlie Kaufman. His latest since the film I’m Thinking of Ending Things in 2020. His new film is a 27 minute short that is premiering at the 2025 Venice Film Festival underway right now. The original intro at the fest: “Following two recently dead people who wander Athens as ghosts, the film explores mortality: as it interacts with the urge toward belonging, and our human desire to leave something, some trace, behind; and our twin desire for self obliteration. Street photography, historical footage, and old home videos interlaced with the body of the film, underscore how the ‘now’ will become the ‘then’, how those of us living today become the ghosts of tomorrow.” The short stars a nearly unrecognizable Jessie Buckley (also in Hamnet) with blue hair and a nose ring. Along with Josef Akiki as the other ghost. Shot on location in Athens, Greece. This looks quite good. Not just a simple story about ghosts wandering around a city, it’s much deeper than that. Check it out.

Here’s the main official trailer for Charlie Kaufman’s short film How to Shoot a Ghost, from YouTube:

Intro via Venice: “Two newly dead young people meet in the streets of Athens, amid the pulsing cityscape and the ghosts of history. One a translator, the other a photographer, they were outsiders in life; in death they struggle with the residue of their longings and mistakes. They wander the city together, finding consolation in the difficult beauty of existence and its aftermath.” How to Shoot a Ghost is a short directed by iconic Oscar-winning American writer / filmmaker Charlie Kaufman, director of the films Anomalisa, Synecdoche New York, and I’m Thinking of Ending Things previously, and writer of scripts for Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The screenplay is written by Eva H.D. Produced by Isabelle Deluce & Emily McCann Lesser. The film premieres at the 2025 Venice Film Festival in the Out of Competition section. No other release dates are set yet – stay tuned for updates. Who’s interested?

written by jummy84

Charlie Kaufman’s new short film, How to Shoot a Ghost, just got its first trailer. The 27-minute film is produced by Unmade, a production company that Halsey appears to have co-founded with her manager, Anthony Li, and her fiance, Avan Jogia. Unmade is credited alongside several other producers in the program for Venice Biennale, where the film is premiering. Watch the trailer below, via Variety.

Jessie Buckley and Josef Akiki star in the film, which has a screenplay by Eva H.D. and centers on a pair of outsiders, a translator and photographer, as they materialize in a realm of the afterlife that is also Athens, Greece. Rufus and Martha Wainwright have covered Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” for the film. Kaufman and Eva H.D. also collaborated on the 2023 short Jackals & Fireflies.

The How to Shoot a Ghost trailer arrives on the same day that Halsey releases an anniversary edition of her debut album, Badlands. She’ll begin the Back to Badlands Tour in October.

Hey Karan Johar, Whenever Bollywood Fans Are Dying For A Feel-Good Film, Thanks For Saving Them With ‘Ek Chutki Ishq’ [Opinion]

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari: Thank You Karan Johar, For The ‘Ek Chutki Ishq’ (Photo Credit – Instagram)

There have been times when Bollywood has struggled at the box office with only chest-thumping heroes ruling the silver screen. At such times, die-hard Bollywood fans yearned for classic true-blue romantic films, and at such times, Karan Johar has always arrived with romance pulling the right strings at the right moment! Dharma Productions is all set to repeat the romance magic with Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.

It was in 1998 that Karan Johar changed the entire romantic setup for Hindi films with Rahul, Tina, and Anjali in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai! Love triangles changed the entire scenario, and love as a whole, the sole emotion of a film, took the front seat! So much so, that the film, despite going head to head against Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, turned a massive winner!

The Romance Magician – Karan Johar!

In the 2000s, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kal Ho Naa Ho did the same magic, and true-blue die-hard romantic fans breathed a sigh of relief with their romantic cravings being addressed so beautifully. In 2023, when Hindi Cinema was struggling at the box office, Karan Johar yet again decided to bail it out with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani! Dharma Productions is again to the rescue of die-hard romantic fans with Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari!

Varun Dhawan & Janhvi Kapoor Bring Laughter In Love!

The teaser of the film ensures that it is the light-hearted take on romance we desperately need amidst the mundane routines! Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor bring the laughter along with the love, promising a love story that might not bring Pyaar Ke Kasme Vaade, but it might surely help you deal with the sukh-dukh of your ishq wali life!

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari – The Ek Chutki Ishq We Need!

In the last few months, Cinema has dealt with a very aggressive side of human behavior and my romantic soul desperately needs a breath of fresh air! While romance is already the ruling emotion since the last month with some great Bollywood music ruling my playlist as well, I am really thankful to Karan Johar and Dharma Productions for bringing this Ek Chutki Ishq once in a while.

They did is last month with Dhadak 2, and before that, they made my soul smile with a beautiful film called Aap Jaisa Koi with a music album to die for! They are gearing up to strike the right chords yet again with Sunny Sankari Ki Tulsi Kumari and, I am just happy that love stories still exist in Dharma Productions’ world!

About The Film

Sunny Sankari Ki Tulsi Kumari features Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Akshay Oberoi, Maniesh Paul, and others. Produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Shashank Khaitan under Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment, the film is directed by Shashank Khaitan and will be released in theaters on Dussehra, October 2, 2025.

Jim Jarmusch’s New Film ‘Father Mother Sister Brother’ Teaser Trailer

“We seem to be accidentally color coordinated – how embarrassing!” Mubi has revealed a first look teaser trailer for the film titled Father Mother Sister Brother, the latest Jim Jarmusch feature film that has been in the works for years already. It’s now set to premiere at the 2025 Venice Film Festival underway now, and it’ll next play at the New York & Vancouver Film Fests this fall before opening in theaters in December. A new ensemble comedy feature a huge cast of characters – the film is a triptych with segments set in the US, France, and Ireland. Estranged siblings reunite after years apart, forced to confront unresolved tensions and reevaluate their strained relationships with their emotionally distant parents. A series of character studies: quiet, observational and non-judgemental — a comedy, but interwoven with threads of melancholy. Starring Tom Waits, Adam Driver, Mayim Bialik, Charlotte Rampling, Cate Blanchett, Vicky Krieps, Sarah Greene, Indya Moore, Luka Sabbat, & Françoise Lebrun. This is a strange teaser that doesn’t exactly get me more excited to see this film, but I’m interested to watch nonetheless because it is Jarmusch.

Here’s the first teaser trailer for Jim Jarmusch’s film Father Mother Sister Brother, from YouTube:

Father Mother Sister Brother Teaser

Father Mother Sister Brother Teaser

Father Mother Sister Brother is a feature film, though carefully constructed in the form of a triptych. The 3 stories all concern the relationships between adult children, their somewhat distant parent (or parents), and each other. Each of the three chapters takes place in the present, and each in a different country. Father is set in the Northeast US, Mother in Dublin, Ireland, and Sister Bother in Paris, France. The film is a series of character studies, quiet, observational and non-judgmental – a comedy, but interwoven with threads of melancholy. Father Mother Sister Brother is written and directed by acclaimed American indie filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, director of many great films including Stranger Than Paradise, Down by Law, Mystery Train, Night on Earth, Dead Man, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, Coffee and Cigarettes, Broken Flowers, The Limits of Control, Only Lovers Left Alive, Paterson, Gimme Danger, and The Dead Don’t Die previously. Produced by Charles Gillibert, Joshua Astrachan, Carter Logan, and Atilla Salih Yücer. This is premiering at the 2025 Venice Film Festival underway now. Mubi opens Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother in select US theaters starting on December 24th, 2025 late this year. How does that look?

Ayo Edebiri Marked Her First Venice Film Festival By Going Full Hollywood Glamour

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

For most A-list movie stars, having any movie premiere at the Venice Film Festival would be enough excitement. But for Ayo Edebiri, she can really cash in on the thrills this week. Not only is it her first time attending the lauded, star-studded event, but she’s also marking the occasion by being a part of one of the buzziest and most-anticipated films of the whole festival.

Today, the star attended the official premiere for her new, Luca Guadagnino-directed film, After the Hunt, co-starring Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, and Chloë Sevigny. (Just a small, unknown cast—no pressure.)

“It’s pretty surreal,” Edebiri tells Vogue. “Venice is a truly beautiful city with such deep history, and the film festival is such a massive part of that, of course. To know that I’ve now gotten to be a part of that, even a little bit, with a project that I love so much and am so grateful to have been a part of, is really moving and humbling.”

Given this is such a momentous milestone for the star and a true narrative arc for her career, she knew she needed an exceptional red carpet look for the film debut. For the more formal premiere this evening, Edebiri and her go-to stylist Danielle Goldberg worked with Chanel to conjure up a striking gown that embodied true, Old Hollywood glamour—and not in a stuffy or tired way, but rather, articulating the energy of the most promising and in-demand new stars. “We went through archival images of Chanel couture shows, and this gown really felt like a moment we have been wanting to have,” says Goldberg.
