The Bengal Files Vs The Tashkent Files: Vivek Agnihotri’s Film Wins The Box Office Battle On Day 3, Check The Numbers | Glamsham.com

Vivek Agnihotri’s latest political drama, The Bengal Files, has outperformed his 2019 film The Tashkent Files at the box office but still lags significantly behind the phenomenal success of The Kashmir Files (2022).

Modest Opening Weekend for The Bengal Files

The Bengal Files earned ₹2.75 crore on Sunday, following ₹2.15 crore on Saturday and ₹1.75 crore on Friday. According to Sacnilk, the film’s total opening weekend collection in India stands at ₹6.65 crore. While this is nearly three times the ₹2.20 crore that The Tashkent Files earned during its opening weekend, it is only about one-fourth of the ₹27.15 crore that The Kashmir Files raked in.

Comparing Agnihotri’s Political Trilogy

The Tashkent Files, a pre-pandemic outing on the death of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri under mysterious circumstances, featured Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah, and Pankaj Tripathi. At the other end, The Kashmir Files, based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, was a box office hit, with a ₹3.55 crore opening and rising to ₹15 crore by day three.

Comparatively, The Bengal Files also had a subdued beginning despite the impressive cast that boasts of Mithun Chakraborty, Namashi Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi. The movie deals with the Direct Action Day of 1946, Noakhali Massacre, and the “Great Bengal Killing” and compares them to contemporary problems in Bengal and Bangladesh.

Heavy Investment and Stiff Competition

Agnihotri has disclosed that he invested the returns of The Kashmir Files into The Bengal Files, in addition to borrowed money. In the meantime, his last release, The Vaccine War, launched on ₹3.50 crore and concluded on ₹10.33 crore.

The movie also encountered stiff competition this weekend from Baaghi 4 featuring Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt, which debuted at a record ₹31.25 crore.

“I would like to find proof of what plants sense.” Film Boutique has debuted a festival promo trailer for the film titled Silent Friend, the latest mesmerizing creation by award-winning Hungarian filmmaker Ildikó Enyedi. This is the best film from the 2025 Venice Film Festival and it seriously deserved to win Golden Lion – most critics agree, but the jury did not. Silent Friend is set at a university centered around a giant, old ginkgo tree. The film follows three intertwined stories at different time periods, exploring the idea of trees & plants being sentient and interacting with people. In the heart of a botanical garden in a medieval university town in Germany stands a majestic ginkgo tree. This silent witness has observed over a century the quiet rhythms of transformation across three human lives… This stars Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Luna Wedler (who won a Venice award), Enzo Brumm, Sylvester Groth, Martin Wuttke, Johannes Hegemann, Rainer Bock, Marlene Burow, & Léa Seydoux. I fell hard for the film – it’s an instant all-timer favorite, everything about it is magical. This trailer features some of the wonderful score, but it’s still an experience you must have in theaters – getting pulled into this beautifully alluring, entrancing story of trees & humans.

Here’s the first festival promo trailer for Ildikó Enyedi’s film Silent Friend, direct from YouTube:

Silent Friend Trailer

Tales told from the perspective of a lonely old tree standing in the middle of a botanical garden. In 2020 – a neuroscientist from Hong Kong, exploring the mind of babies, begins an unexpected experiment with the old tree. In 1972 – a young student is profoundly changed by the simple act of observing and connecting with a geranium. In 1908 – the university’s first female student discovers, using the lens of photography, sacred patterns of the universe hidden within the humblest of plants. We follow their clumsy attempts to connect — each one of them deeply rooted in their own present – as they are transformed by the quiet, enduring, and mysterious power of nature. The ancient ginkgo tree brings us closer to what it means to be human — to our longing to belong. Silent Friend is written and directed by acclaimed Hungarian filmmaker Ildikó Enyedi, director of the films Büvös Vadász, Tamas and Juli, Simon the Magiciain, On Body and Soul, and The Story of My Wife previously. Produced by Reinhard Brundig, Monika Mécs, Nicolas Elghozi, Morgane Olivier, Meng Xie. This recently premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival (read our review); it next plays at TIFF, Vancouver, London. No US release is set yet – stay tuned for more. Who wants to watch?

Story House Partners to Shoot Debut Film ‘St. George’ in Montana

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Story House Partners, the Montana-based production branch of Story House Inc., will begin production on its first feature film in October. Titled “St. George,” the movie is a family drama written and directed by Andrew Pastides.

The film will focus on two brothers dealing with grief in the wake of their sister’s death. One of the brothers has Down syndrome, and the other brother becomes his caregiver as his closest remaining family member. However, when their late sister’s boyfriend re-enters their lives, things take a turn for the worse, forcing both brothers to confront their familial flaws head-on.

“St. George” was developed with the National Down Syndrome Society to ensure authentic representation of its neurodivergent characters and expand conversations about the community. Pastides said in a statement, “I’m drawn to the gray areas — the space where tragedy and humor overlap, where love and loss coexist. With ‘St. George,’ I wanted to explore how silence around grief leaves us unequipped to love fully, and how resilience takes different shapes in different families — especially within the neurodivergent community.”

The film will be shot on-location in Missoula, Mont., bringing production to the Mountain West in accordance with Story House Partners’ investment in the region’s film industry. In addition to the movie, Story House Inc. is developing a 47-acre studio campus in Missoula as well as a 240-acre community in Sheridan, Wyo., dubbed Story House Village.

By working with lawmakers to develop Story House Montana, the company hopes to build a production ecosystem in an underserved part of the United States where other large-scale projects have faltered.

Story House co-founder and chief creative officer James Brown III added, “It’s incredibly meaningful that ‘St. George’ is the first feature film from Story House Partners. To launch our producing journey with a story this powerful feels like both an honor and a responsibility — we’ve been trusted with something deeply human, and it brings me so much joy to share it with the world.”

“St. George” is produced by Sean Patrick Higgins, James Brown III and Matt Lauria, and is shot by Bianca Butti.

Experience Mitski’s Concert Film ‘The Land’ in Theaters This Fall

by jummy84 September 8, 2025

Mitski: The Land, filmed over three nights at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, screens in theaters for a limited time

Bummed you missed out on Mitski‘s last tour? You can catch it on the big screen this fall. Mitski: The Land will hit theaters for a limited time on Oct. 22.

Filmed over three nights at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre exactly one year ago (Sept. 6, 7, and 8), the shows were in support of Mitski’s last album, 2023’s The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We. The set list contained tracks from the LP — including her first-ever hit, “My Love Mine All Mine” — and highlights across her discography.

Trending Stories

Mitski has always been known for her magnetizing stage presence, featuring sharp, synchronized dance movements. The 2024 tour featured a seven-piece band, with choreography by Monica Mirabile and stage design by Andi Watson. The film was directed by Grant James, and mixed by her longtime producer, Patrick Hyland. Tickets go on sale Monday, Sept. 15.

In her 2021 Rolling Stone cover story, Mitski spoke to us about her approach to her beloved concerts. “I guess fame is relative,” she said. “There’s Taylor Swift fame and then there’s local-DIY-scene fame. The real struggle for me in getting bigger is, how do I maintain integrity in the performance? How do I make sure the audience experience is still intimate and emotional in this 8,000-cap room? How do I not resort to flashy pyrotechnics onstage? Because I don’t want my show to be about that — I want people to enter into a place with me and have an experience, and then leave having experienced something important.”

Anurag Basu’s Film Casually Discusses How Much Cheating Is Okay & My Old-School Soul Asks ‘Ye Ishq Hai Ya Tharak?’ [Opinion]

Metro In Dino Review By A 90s 'Kid': Anurag Basu's Film Casually Discusses How Much Cheating Is Okay
Metro In Dino Review By A 90s ‘Kid’: My Old-School Soul Asks ‘Ye Ishq Hai Ya Tharak?’ ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

So recently, I got a chance to watch Metro In Dino on Netflix – one of the most talked films of the recent times. It worked in the theaters and I heart a lot of good things about the film. More so, I was in love with the music album as well, so I decided to dive in Anurag Basu‘s take on modern-day relationships and it has left me as confused as his characters were!

No, do not get me wrong, I am a die-hard Bollywood fan and an equally hopeless romantic when it comes to Hindi films. But over the years, the portrayal of romance on screen has changed for the worst to be honest! Now, not getting into the film’s mirror society or society gets impacted from films debate, I am surprised at the casual approach in relationships, to be honest!

For those who do not know, Metro In Dino is a relationship drama highlighting four couples, and all of them are on the verge of cheating on each other. Do they cheat or do they not is the only curiosity that keeps everyone on toes. And this is where my issue with this film started and never ended!

So, how do we define cheating here? Is it only the physical aspect of a relationship, or do we take emotional cheating into account at any point? These four couples decide to break boundaries of a relationship, and of course, I am no one to decide any boundary for any relationship, and it is totally between two people to set those boundaries, but I definitely need to address this casual conversation around cheating.

The film is so entertaining that I am sure no one has a problem with this casual approach and conversation regarding cheating, something that is totally non-negotiable in a relationship. In fact, in the recent past, many movies have taken this casual approach to cheating in a relationship, and I am just confused. Am I too old school, or has the world progressed too rapidly?

The last I checked, cheating or being disloyal in a relationship was the deal breaker! But Metro In Dino presents it as a thought that needs a discussion. It definitely talks about second chances, but it never bothers to strike a conversation about the discussion that leads to the second chances! Of course, I agree about taking second chances, but only if we failed for the first time by mistake! But cheating is definitely a choice in a relationship.

In one of the songs, Metro In Dino discusses romance and says, “Koi kaise kare farak, ye ishq hai ya tharak?” Well, I think most of us know the answer! But the film definitely confuses my old soul. I think, the 90’s ‘kid’ in me needs to grow up!

Baaghi 4 box office collection day 3: Tiger Shroff’s massy actioner has not seen a spike in the ticket counters during the first weekend.

Baaghi 4 box office collection day 3: Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4 arrived with a lot of expectations, given the previous entries of the action-packed franchise have proved to be successful. However, now that the film has seen its release, the first few days of collections are not as massive as expected, given that the Sajid Nadiadwala production has received a lukewarm response so far. Baaghi 4 released in theatres on September 5. (Also read: Baaghi 4 Twitter review: ‘Desi Stallone’ Tiger Shroff can’t save this ‘cringe violent mess with no story’, say viewers)

Baaghi 4 box office collection day 3: Tiger Shroff’s film received mixed reviews.

Baaghi 4 has no growth

The latest box office update on Sacnilk points out that Baaghi did not show any improvement from its opening day collections. The film did business of ₹12 crore on Friday, and saw a dip on Saturday, collecting ₹9.25 crore. On Sunday, the film went on to collect ₹10 crore as per early estimates. The total collections of the film now stand at ₹31.25 crore, as of 10 PM.

Baaghi 4 had an overall Hindi occupancy of 24.84% on Sunday. Morning shows were lacklustre, registering 8.75% occupancy, whereas afternoon shows were at 28.81%, and evening shows showed some momentum at 36.95%. The film is facing competition from the Hollywood release The Conjuring Last Rites. The horror film is on a spectacular run at the box office, collecting ₹15.5 crore on Sunday to take its three-day total to ₹50.50 crore.

About Baaghi 4

Apart from Tiger and Sanjay Dutt, the film also stars Shreyas Talpade, Saurabh Sachdeva, Upendra Limaye, and Sonam Bajwa in prominent roles. It also marks the acting debut of former Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu.

The movie is produced by Sajid Nadiawala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The film is the fourth instalment in Tiger’s Baaghi franchise, which started with 2016’s Baaghi, followed by Baaghi 2 (2018) and Baaghi 3 (2020).

How ‘HIM’ Uses Music To Intensify The Horror Film: See Exclusive Clip

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

When composer Bobby Krlic joined director Justin Tipping to score HIM, there was one question: What does power sound like? Together, they factored in the use of the term “him” and its omnipresence in Hip-Hop and sports culture. As described by Tipping in the exclusive clip above, the film is “musical wall to wall.”

Outside of music itself, Krlic—also known by his stage name “The Haxan Cloak—made use of unconventional sounds to amplify the intense thriller. As explained in the behind-the-scenes dive, the BAFTA Award-winning composer imagined the sound in images, sampled MRI sounds, and composed the actual score for a trap beat.

“When I composed the score, we kept talking about the idea of this being Cameron’s (Tyriq Withers) childhood dream, to be the best on the planet, but then how could we musically twist and subvert that dream?” he detailed. “I thought to myself, this is the best thing I’ve ever done.”

From Oscar-winning Jordan Peele and Monkeypaw Productions, Tyriq Withers stars as Cameron Cade, a rising-star quarterback who has devoted his life and identity to football. The night before a professional football player’s annual scouting Combine, he is attacked by an unhinged fan and suffers a potentially career-ending brain trauma.

With Marlon Wayans leading as his hero, Isaiah White, a legendary eight-time Championship quarterback and cultural megastar, things take a dark turn and push the athlete to his limits.

The additional cast includes Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, and Jim Jefferies. MMA heavyweight fighter Maurice Greene and Hip-Hop phenoms Guapdad 4000 and Grammy nominee Tierra Whack make their feature film debuts.

HIM is set to release in theaters on Sept. 19, 2025. Watch the official trailer below and learn more about the sound behind the movie above.

Baaghi 4 Defies Odds: Tiger Shroff’s Film Hits Double Digits On Day 2, Rakes In Rs 24.54 Crore | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Sajid Nadiadwala’s action thriller Baaghi 4 is turning out to be the season’s dark horse. Following a thundering opening on Friday with a net accumulation of ₹13.20 crore, the movie kept the momentum going on Saturday with a minting of ₹11.34 crore. That takes the film’s two-day total to ₹24.54 crore (NBOC).

The trend has piqued trade analysts’ interest, as the film saw only a 13–14% drop from its Eid holiday release — a much better hold than anticipated. Even with competition from festive celebrations such as Ganpati Visarjan, the film’s occupancy rates remained solid nationwide.

Mass Appeal and Audience Connect
One of the strongest aspects of Baaghi 4 is its mass belt performance. Single-screen cinemas are reporting huge turnouts, as people are cheering for Tiger Shroff’s high-octane action and the larger-than-life drama of the film. Parallel to this, urban multiplexes too have reported satisfactory collections, ensuring a balanced contribution from both ends of the market.

The boost is provided by the high family and young voter turnout, making it a crowd puller in all centers. The mix of action-packed sequences with power, emotional overtones, and entertainment quotient is resonating well with varied audience segments.

Sunday Outlook and Beyond
With Sunday remaining, trade analysts are looking for a robust jump in collections, which would propel the film’s weekend figures to a high pedestal. Surpassing initial box office expectations, Baaghi 4 is now turning out to be not only a sure-shot commercial proposition but an outright winner in the mass entertainment arena.

With the word going on and the trend strong, the film’s promise is paving the way for a bright extended run.

Baaghi 4 is running successfully in cinemas near you!

America’s Book Banning Madness Doc Film ‘The Librarians’ Trailer

“This is about taking away rights.” “This can’t be America.” An official trailer has debuted for an important documentary film called The Librarians, about the librarians fighting the fascist book banning in America right now. The acclaimed doc will get a global release with backing of a coalition of supporters – including Film Forum, Dogwoof, 8 Above, PBS’ Independent Lens, BBC Storyville, ROCO Films, Kanopy and a cohort of organizations defending the freedom to read including PEN America, the American Library Association, & Penguin Random House. The Librarians traverses small-town USA capturing the shared experience and heroic actions of besieged librarians who are at the center of what has become a large-scale coordinated extremist movement against freedom of information. Faced with a choice to either fall in line or defend our most fundamental rights, these brave librarians have made the choice to risk everything and be the first line of defense against current attacks on our democratic values. The film is not only a timely call to action against the attempts to curtail access to often life saving info for students, it is also an urgent reminder of what is at stake if the marginalized voices at the core of the issues are silenced. Rock on. I just hope it helps.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Kim A. Snyder’s doc film The Librarians, direct from YouTube:

The Librarians Poster

Librarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy and our First Amendment Rights. As they well know, controlling the flow of ideas means control over communities. In Texas, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQia+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of extremism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale. The Librarians is directed by American doc filmmaker Kim A. Snyder, director of films I Remember Me, Welcome to Shelbyville, Newtown, and Us Kids previously, plus other short docs. Produced by Maria Cuomo Cole, Jana Edelbaum, Janique L. Robillard, & Snyder. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Snyder’s The Librarians doc will debut in select US theaters starting October 3rd, 2025 this fall. For more info, visit the film’s official site.

Orlando Bloom says he would “hate to see” another actor play Legolas in new ‘Lord Of The Rings’ film

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Orlando Bloom has said he would “hate” to see another actor play Legolas in The Lord Of The Rings: The Hunt For Gollum.

The upcoming film was provisionally announced in 2023, with Andy Serkis, who portrayed Gollum in the original Peter Jackson film trilogy, returning to the role and also directing the film.

In May, Deadline reported that the film would be released into cinemas on December 17, 2027, following on in the mid-to-late December release window that proved successful for the Jackson trilogy from 2001 to 2003 and his subsequent Hobbit trilogy from 2012 to 2014.

Further casting has not been confirmed, although Sir Ian McKellen said last year that he would consider returning to the role of Gandalf for the film if he is “still alive” when it is being made.

Now, Orlando Bloom, who played Legolas in the original trilogy as well as The Desolation Of Smaug (2013) and The Battle Of The Five Armies (2014), has had his say on the future of his character.

Appearing on the Today show, he said he had “not heard a peep” about who would be playing Legolas in The Hunt For Gollum, adding: “It’s such an amazing part. I’m so grateful to have been a part of those movies. But I haven’t heard.”

“Listen, I’d hate to see anyone else play Legolas, you know what I mean?” he added. “What are they going to do? Are they going to put somebody else in as Legolas? With AI, they can do anything these days!”

Viggo Mortensen has also weighed in on the possibility of returning to the franchise to reprise his role of Aragorn. “I like playing that character. I learned a lot playing the character. I enjoyed it a lot. I would only do it if I was right for it in terms of, you know, the age I am now and so forth. It would be silly to do it otherwise,” he said.

Meanwhile, the prequel TV series The Rings Of Power will definitely return for a third season, Amazon Prime Video confirmed earlier this year. The second season ran from August to October 2024, with new episodes expected to start shooting imminently.
