The Joker could feature in upcoming superhero film ‘Clayface’, set photos reveal

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Photos from the set of the upcoming Clayface movie have given fans a new glimpse of the Joker – take a look at them here.

In an on-set photo shared on X (Twitter), a black-and-white poster reads, “Corruption is the enemy of the people,” with the text underneath saying, “March against the G.C.P.D. Park Row, Gotham. This Saturday, 2pm. JOIN THE JOKER.”

It comes after the Joker was first teased last month, with other behind-the-scenes photos revealing graffiti tags reading, “The Jokers”. Some have speculated that the character might be recruiting people to take a stand against the Gotham City Police Department.

The James Watkins-directed movie is filming in Liverpool and set for release on September 11, 2026, and stars Tom Rhys Harries as the titular character, also known as Matt Hagen, an actor whose face is disfigured by a gangster. As a result, he turns to a scientist (Naomi Ackie) who transforms his body into clay. Max Minghella and Eddie Marsan are also set to star.

It’ll be the third movie in the DC Universe franchise, part of its ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters’ slate.

DC Studios is currently developing The Brave And The Bold, which will showcase the franchise’s version of Batman for the first time, but Clayface could give fans a look at the Joker in the meantime.

Also in development at present is Superman follow-up Man Of Tomorrow, set for release in 2027, as well as The Authority, Swamp Thing, and an as-yet-untitled Wonder Woman movie.

Clayface’s first appearance in the DCU came in the first season of Creature Commandos and was voiced by Alan Tudyk. However, DCU co-creator said that Tudyk wouldn’t reprise his role in the movie because the character wasn’t Tudyk’s main role in the universe – he also voiced Doctor Phosphorus in Creature Commandos.

“Fight for what you’ve built!” Never let them take you down! Hulu has debuted a final official trailer for a movie titled Swiped, another story of tech success in America. But instead of being a cautionary tale, this is framed as a story of great achievement in saying F you to The Man. From filmmaker Rachel Lee Goldenberg, it’s premiering at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival this week and will be streaming on Hulu to watch later in September. Swiped is inspired by the story of Whitney Wolfe (now Whitney Wolfe Herd), founder and former CEO of the dating app / platform known as Bumble. It was created when she was ousted from Tinder and she decided to create an alternative version where women are the only ones who can starting talking with a match. Lily James stars as Whitney, along with Clea DuVall, Dermot Mulroney, Pierson Fode, Joely Fisher, Myha’la, and Dan Stevens playing Badoo founder & CEO Andrey Andreev (who was a key investor in Bumble which allowed them to start). I’m still not sure why all of this is being spun into a more positive story, when it’s still yet another corporate tech biz / cautionary tale just like the others before.

Here’s the second & final trailer (+ poster) for Rachel Lee Goldenberg’s film Swiped, via Hulu’s YouTube:

You can rewatch the first trailer for Rachel Lee Goldenberg’s Swiped film right here for even more footage.

“Disrupt an industry… create an empire.” 💕 Inspired by the provocative real-life story of the visionary founder of online dating platform Bumble, Swiped introduces recent college grad Whitney Wolfe, played by Lily James, as she uses extraordinary grit & ingenuity to break into the male-dominated tech industry and launch an innovative, globally lauded dating app (two, actually), paving the way to becoming the youngest female self-made billionaire. Swiped is directed by American producer / filmmaker Rachel Lee Goldenberg, director of the films Valley Girl and Unpregnant previously, plus numerous music videos, short films, and lots of TV work including episodes of “Tiny Beautiful Things” & “Minx” most recently. The screenplay is written by Bill Parker & Rachel Lee Goldenberg, and Kim Caramele. Produced by Lily James, Jennifer Gibgot, Andrew Panay. This is premiering at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival in September this fall. Disney then debuts Swiped streaming on Hulu / Disney+ starting on September 19th, 2025 coming soon.

“When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you…” Void Signal has unveiled the official trailer for The Healing, a horror thriller film from Slovenia directed by filmmaker Denis Kryuchkov. It’s entirely in English as they filmed it with English dialogue. This is getting a direct-to-VOD release in October this fall – featuring a chilling official poster (view below). In the vein of cult horror classics like Ari Aster’s Midsommar, Lyuba flees her abusive husband for a mysterious retreat. Surreal rituals and haunting visions reveal dark secrets, pushing her to confront a terrifying choice: escape or succumb to a chilling fate. Alena Mitroshina stars as Lyuba who goes on a retreat with her friends. There they perform these rituals & she experiences strange visions. She suddenly feels uncomfortable & contemplates escape, but fears that what awaits her outside will be worse than what she faces inside. Also starring Wolfgang Czerny, Vyacheslav Chepurchenko, Ekaterina Solomatina, Victoria Skitskaya, Maxim Khanzhov, & Hermes Zygott. This does look super creepy! Another crazy cult doing hallucinogens and making people see this scary stuff.

Lyuba is a woman who is heading for a weekend retreat with her friends, Sveta and Zoya. For Lyuba, it’s a chance to escape her troubled home life. She’s in an abusive marriage with Sergey, who constantly finds excuses to belittle her and make her feel bad. Despite feeling uneasy about leaving home and attending the retreat, Lyuba is persuaded by Sveta and Zoya to join. Although they arrive late, the group is warmly welcomed by the retreat’s leader, Danila. Danila leads the participants through unusual rituals, such as dancing to release pent-up aggression. However, Lyuba begins to experience strange visions, which make her uneasy. She becomes intrigued by Danila, who, at one point, buries her up to her head as part of the retreat’s activities. As Lyuba starts to feel more uncomfortable, she contemplates escaping. But she fears that what awaits her outside might be even worse than what she faces within. The Healing is directed by Russian filmmaker Denis Kryuchkov, director of the films Russkiy Reyd and Omut previously, plus many other short films. The screenplay is written by Olga Loyanich and Robert Orr. This first debuted in Germany earlier in 2025. Void Signal will debut The Healing direct-to-VOD to watch starting on October 7th, 2025.

“REEL WOMEN” celebrated the voices of women in film at the prestigious The Venice Film Festival.

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

The Venice Film Festival is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious demonstrations of international cinema. Taking place on September 1, 2025 in Venice, Italy, this festival has been a birth place to some of the most celebrated works in film, and is to this day still one of the European “Big Three” festivals (alongside Cannes and Berlin).

The festival draws in the film community from all over the world to its red carpets and screenings each year, platforming emerging filmmakers and talent while also highlighting already established talent in the entertainment industry. It features major world premieres, red carpets with stars, and the esteemed Golden Lion award for the best film. It was held from Wednesday, August 27 to Saturday, September 26 in 2025.

This year, Maria Soccor hosted   at the 82nd Venice Film Festival to put a  spotlight on the amazing women working in the film industry. Maria Soccor is an award-winning actress, producer, director and filmmaker whose work has spanned documentary, narrative, and producing projects with a focus on underrepresented voices. Soccor frequents these international film festivals as a moderator, mentor, and champion of emerging filmmakers. She has been a long-time advocate of inclusivity and gender equality within art spaces, and consistently uses her platform to speak up for and amplify overlooked voices and perspectives. Soccor hosted REEL WOMEN in order to create a space for dialogue, connection and recognition at one of the most influential cultural gatherings for film in the world.

This exclusive, late-night gathering took place at 10:00 PM in the Campari Lounge, which is a stunning bar area and event space in front of Palazzo del Cinema and on the sea, directly across from the iconic red carpet. It was presented by Campari in partnership with Maria Soccor Productions Inc. and Jane Owen Public Relations, an award-winning PR and events firm with over two decades of experience supporting top talents and brands at major international film festivals.  Campari is an iconic red bitter aperitif that is the flagship product of Campari group, which is an Italian company that produces spirits, wines, and non-alcoholic beverages. The evening featured gourmet appetisers and artisanal cocktails (courtesy of Campari) accompanied by elevated canapés and Italian hospitality, and a bar service delivered by Camparino in Galleria: one of the world’s best bars. A DJ and entertainment also brought the energy to this all-night event.

The event united filmmakers, actors, producers, and industry leaders in celebration of female voices and stories in cinema and entertainment. REEL WOMEN offered insightful networking and an elegant tribute spotlighting REEL WOMEN honorees. There were several notable film-industry names who attended this event.

Actor Jared Harris and his wife, Allegra Riggio attended. Harris had his film A House of Dynamite premiere at The Venice Film Festival last week, which generated significant buzz for the political thriller. Film producer Debra Gainor attended the event as well with Producers without Borders. Producer Vicktoria Silmara Turmina of Mindgate Motion Pictures and the founder of The Members Club and Producers Without Borders, Jojo Dye, showed up. The founder of one of the world’s premiere independent film publicity agencies, Jane Owen, made an appearance as well as Ann Hafström of the Creative Lifestyle Agency. Actresses Agatha Levi and Tora Kims, and models Gillian Nation and Tia Goossen attended as well.

“Venice has long been a platform for extraordinary storytelling, and REEL WOMEN was a chance to gather in recognition of the incredible female talent shaping the industry today,” said Maria Soccor.

Soccor’s event underscored the urgency and importance of continuing to champion and uplift diverse storytellers from all backgrounds in front of and behind the camera. This private, invite only event reinforced the commitment of Campari and its partners to supporting creativity, inclusivity, and the next generation of storytellers.

REEL WOMEN remained vibrant into the night, and was constantly buzzing with conversation, collaboration, and the unmistakable energy of the last night of The Venice Film Festival. This event was a great space for women in film to network and to lift up voices in the film industry that aren’t heard or seen as much as others.

“They want your shelter, your food, your water, your sanity.” Aura Entertainment has revealed an official trailer for a film called Coyotes, a wild horror comedy made by genre filmmaker Colin Minihan (of Grave Encounters, What Keeps You Alive). This is premiering at Fantastic Fest 2025 coming up later this month before it opens in October. Trapped in their Hollywood Hills home, a family fights for survival when caught between a raging wildfire and a pack of savage coyotes. Starring real-life couple Justin Long and Kate Bosworth as the trapped family’s parents. Their performances underline the dual nature of the nightmare they are living—how human bonds are tested under extreme pressure and how strong one’s primal survival instinct can be. The fest adds: from “Colin Minihan, the mind behind Grave Encounters, Coyotes combines the claustrophobic dread of home invasion with brutal eco-horror, sugarcoated with [funny] situations. The film’s atmospheric intensity, tight pacing, and escalating stakes channel the distinctive unpredictability of nature gone rogue and the disastrous consequences of the forced displacement of wildlife.” Also co-starring Katherine McNamara, Brittany Allen, Mila Harris, & Norbert Leo Butz. This looks bonkers! Enjoy.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Colin Minihan’s thriller film Coyotes, direct from YouTube:

Coyotes Horror Poster

“The darkness has teeth.” When a scorching wildfire hits the Hollywood Hills, a family (Justin Long and Kate Bosworth) is stranded as their neighborhood is destroyed and their home becomes a blazing prison. What begins as an intimate domestic drama quickly escalates into a pulse-pounding survival thriller as a pack of predatory coyotes disoriented by the fires tighten their perimeter around the house. Rendered powerless by collapsing roads and no electricity, the family must rely on their courage, resilience & love for one another to survive both the inferno and snarling threat outdoors. Coyotes is directed by American genre filmmaker Colin Minihan, formerly of the Vicious Brothers, director on the films Grave Encounters, Extraterrestrial, It Stains the Sands Red, and What Keeps You Alive previously. The screenplay is written by Tad Daggerhart & Nick Simon; from a story by Tad Daggerhart, Daniel Meersand, Nick Simon. With music by Brittany Allen. Produced by Ford Corbett, James Harris, Joshua Harris, Nathan Klingher, and Jib Polhemus. This is premiering at Fantastic Fest 2025 in Austin, TX this month. Aura Ent. will then release Minihan’s Coyotes in select US theaters starting October 3rd, 2025 coming up this fall. Who’s interested?

We were to do a film after ‘Wasseypur’, Anurag felt script was not coming together: Manoj Bajpayee

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Mumbai, Anurag Kashyap was writing a film for Manoj Bajpayee after the success of his two-part epic “Gangs of Wasseypur” but he had to abandon the project after hitting a roadblock, says the actor, who shares a close friendship with the director that dates back to their first commercial hit “Satya” in 1998.

We were to do a film after ‘Wasseypur’, Anurag felt script was not coming together: Manoj Bajpayee

The Ramgopal Varma-directed film, which Kashyap wrote, launched Bajpayee into stardom as Bhiku Mhatre. They went on to work on “Kaun” and “Shool” but misunderstanding kept them from working together for several years.

Years later, Kashyap and Bajpayee reunited for the director’s “Gangs of Wasseypur” .

“There was too much misunderstanding, which got cleared up only after we decided to work on ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. But it was a loss not only for both of us but also for our audience because we could really create a lot of magic together. We understood each other, we were just right for each other, and ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ proved it right,” Bajpayee told PTI in an interview.

But it has been thirteen years since “Wasseypur”, did they not discuss another collaboration?

“We were discussing a film very seriously. But Anurag being Anurag, he is very unpredictable, and I accept him in all of his flaws, that’s the kind of relationship I’ve with him. He realised that he is not being able to do justice to it as a writer, so we stopped,” the actor said.

Bajpayee has not lost hope about Kashyap starting the project again but wouldn’t actively follow its development.

“Let’s see, one fine morning he will get up and he will have his script. I don’t put any pressure on him at all. He is that kind of a person who is never easy with compulsions whether emotional, physical or financial.”

Now Kashyap has turned presenter for Bajpayee’s new project “Jugnuma”, which has been directed by Raam Reddy.

“He saw the film at the New York Film festival, and he was blown away by the film. And he decided to support the film, and put his name on the poster. He got a few of the exciting filmmakers, big names from South India like Vetri Maaran, Nag Ashwin, Lijo . All of them have seen the film and they have lent their names to it. This just tells you about the beauty of the film, and what a magical story ‘Jugnuma’ is,” he said.

According to Bajpayee, Kashyap single handedly mentored many independent films by putting his might behind the filmmakers.

“He is a very courageous guy. There are flip sides to him, there is always a dark phase that he goes through, but that’s his personality. I personally feel that he can’t create without chaos. So, his chaos is a positive indication to me that he is going to come up with something really fantastic.”

Asked if there was something that he disliked about Kashyap’s personality that he has not shared with his friend, Bajpayee said the filmmaker thrives in chaos, while he himself is highly organised.

“There are very few things that I dislike about him, like he is not tidy enough. He should be, but he refuses to be tidy. His place is always scattered, and he doesn’t like anyone to clean it. I’m a person who is very organised, so I find it very unsettling when I enter his house,” Bajpayee said.

“Jugnuma”, which is titled “The Fable” in English, is set to release in theatres this Friday.

Ali Fazal Attends Special Screening of His Film Rule Breakers at The UK Parliament

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

In a proud moment, actor Ali Fazal was recently extended a special invitation by UK Parliament Member Alice McDonald for the screening of his upcoming international film Rule Breakers. It has been helmed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Bill Guttentag. The exclusive screening was followed by an engaging panel discussion with the film’s star cast, where Ali joined the director to share insights on the making and message of the project.

Expressing his deep sense of gratitude, the Metro…In Dino actor said, “To be invited by MP Alice McDonald to the UK Parliament for the screening of Rule Breakers is a moment of immense pride and privilege for me. This isn’t just about showcasing a film, but about creating dialogue around stories that challenge norms and inspire change. I feel honoured to have represented not just myself, but also the incredible teams I have had the privilege of working with over the years. Collaborating with Bill Guttentag, a filmmaker whose work I have admired for long, has been a rewarding experience, and to now present our film in such a historic and influential space is truly humbling. As an artist, I believe cinema has the power to transcend boundaries, and occasions like these remind me why we do what we do.”

Ali Fazal
Rule Breakers is a gripping, women-centric drama that tells the story of a visionary woman who dares to educate young girls in a society where such efforts are seen as an act of rebellion. As their innovation captures global attention, their success becomes both a beacon of hope and a source of conflict.

Meanwhile, Ali Fazal was most recently seen in Metro…In Dino. Talking about his performance, Filmfare wrote, “Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh are competent, but their characters suffer from a lack of depth. Their arc, based on miscommunication and emotional disconnect, feels dated, something we’ve seen far too often. Perhaps the failed musician narrative warranted its own separate film to be fleshed out meaningfully.”

The actor will next be seen in Rakht Brahmand.

11 Celebs Wore *This* Foundation at the Venice Film Festival

by jummy84 September 9, 2025
written by jummy84

There’s only one foundation that meets (nay, exceeds) virtually every standard for icon status. It’s A) recommended by an overwhelming number of makeup artists, B) editor-approved, having won a Who What Wear Beauty Award, and C) worn by celebrities when they walk the red carpet in front of screaming fans and high-definition cameras.

Most recently, 11 celebrities wore it while on the red carpet at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. Yep, 11, including Gemma Chan, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Sofia Carson. If that’s not proof it has a next-level formula, then I don’t know what is. Ahead, see the exact foundation and how it looked IRL.

Armani Beauty

Luminous Silk Natural Glow Foundation

Size: 1 oz | Shades: 40 | Finish: Natural | Coverage: Medium (buildable)

Yep, it’s Armani Beauty’s cult-favorite Luminous Silk Foundation. Makeup artists and facialists recommend it to literally everyone. Take it from celebrity makeup artist Tobi Henney, who previously told Who What Wear, “I love Armani Luminous Silk, as it creates such a healthy-looking glow to the skin. It has buildable coverage, which works perfectly depending on how you like your skin to look.”

Etienne Ortega is a celebrity makeup artist and the founder of Ortega. His clients include Lana Del Rey and Christina Aguilera. He previously told Who What Wear that it’s his “favorite foundation of all time.”

Skin experts say it works just as well for oily and acne-prone skin types as it does for dry skin types (and everything in between). It’s thanks to a hydrating formula that doesn’t clog pores or exacerbate acne. “I always recommend Armani Luminous Silk to my clients with oily or acne-prone skin. Its light, oil-free formulation gives your skin a luminous glow—just like its name promises—without causing any acne or congestion,” says esthetician Dakota Katt.
