Another Scary Trailer for ‘Good Boy’ Doggie Supernatural Horror Film

“Not only has the scares but also a massive heart.” Indy the Dog!! 🐕 IFC Films has debuted another trailer for one of this year’s major indie horror breakouts titled Good Boy, a horror film told from the perspective of the “good boy” family dog. This is ready to hit theaters starting in early October as perfect horror season entertainment. The debut feature by filmmaker Ben Leonberg, this first premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival earlier in the year. A loyal doggie named Indy moves to a rural home with his owner Todd, only to discover supernatural forces lurking in the shadows. As dark entities threaten his human companion, the brave pup must fight to protect the one he loves most. Good Boy stars Indy the Dog as Indy, with Larry Fessenden, Arielle Friedman, Shane Jensen, Anya Krawcheck, & Stuart Rudin. The reviews are pretty good, but don’t expect this to be the best horror film ever made. It’s really all about the pooch and his amazing time starring on screen in this – saving the day and fighting off ghosts. I can’t wait to watch! Enjoy.

Here’s the second trailer (+ poster) for Ben Leonberg’s horror film Good Boy, direct from IFC’s YouTube:

You can rewatch the first official trailer for Ben Leonberg’s Good Boy film right here for even more footage.

Our canine hero, Indy, finds himself on a new adventure with his human owner—and best friend—Todd, leaving city life for a long-vacant family home in the country. From the start, two things are abundantly clear: Indy is wary of the creepy old house, and his affection for Todd is unwavering. After moving in, Indy is immediately vexed by the empty corners, tracks an invisible presence only he can see, perceives phantasmagoric warnings from a long-dead dog, and is haunted by visions of the previous occupant’s grim death. When Todd begins succumbing to the dark forces swirling around the house, Indy must battle a malevolence intent on dragging his beloved Todd into the afterlife… Good Boy is directed by American indie genre filmmaker Ben Leonberg, making his feature directorial debut after many other short films previously. The screenplay is written by Alex Cannon and Ben Leonberg. Produced by Ben Leonberg & Kari Fischer. This first premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. IFC Films opens Leonberg’s Good Boy film in select US theaters starting on October 3rd, 2025 this fall. Who’s ready to watch this? 🐶

Steve review: Cillian Murphy is in awards-worthy form in powerful film

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

The pupils’ struggles are mirrored by Steve’s own; a driven educator cum social worker, escalating alcohol and substance abuse enabling him to keep numerous plates spinning while all around him falls apart.

Thus, the scene is set for a pivotal 24 hours during which the pressure-cooker environment is tested to its limits, in a powerful film where dark humour only partially masks a desperate state of affairs, distinguished by across-the-board memorable performances.

It’s an especially frantic day at Stanton Wood, on which a camera crew filming a short piece for a regional TV news programme coincides with a visit from the area’s pompous, knighted MP (a requisitely stuffy Roger Allam).

Cillian Murphy as Steve in Netflix’s Steve. Robert Viglasky/Netflix

Most significantly, though, representatives of the trust that bankrolls the project arrive to inform Steve and his staff that the buildings have been sold and the school will close in six months.

Director Tim Mielants drops that particular bombshell fairly early on, by which time he’s already skilfully established his characters, from the mayhem of Steve on what he calls “a roundabout of doom” and the equally well-meaning but more pragmatic Ullman, to the arguably unsung stars of the piece, the boys themselves.

Prominent among the miscreants is the troubled but clearly bright Shy, a mannered, captivating turn by Jay Lycurgo (screenwriter Max Porter’s own source novel was called Shy), who we first meet in a happy-go-lucky mood until a phone call from his mother reveals she no longer wants anything to do with him.

Shy’s individual collision course is punctuated by pocket portraits of his fellow students (quick-witted bully Luke Ayres and maniacal Joshua J Parker make strong impressions), often presented as straight-to-camera interviews being filmed by the TV crew – heartfelt and hilarious in equal measure.

Difficult and destructive influences they may be, but as Ullman says of the misfits in her charge, “I f***ing adore all of them.”

The scholastic/babysitting efforts of Murphy and Ullman are accompanied by integral support from nervous rookie teacher Simbi Ajikawo (aka rapper Little Simz) and Emily Watson as a (mostly) tranquil counsellor, comprising a fully-rounded cast that might suggest the film is an ensemble work more in keeping with the original book.

However, Murphy’s star power and undeniable charisma can’t help but dominate events, and it’s almost exclusively through him that we see Stanton Wood unravel at the start of its careening towards a grimly uncertain future.

He’s in awards-worthy form, those bright expressive eyes piercing through a flustered, dishevelled frame as his commitment to the kids never wavers, despite sombre upheavals in his life away from the school that are drip-fed to viewers with stylish understatement.

It’s high drama throughout and not always comfortable viewing, but Mielants and Porter use their canvas to shine a light on broader issues of social and educational systemic failure without once stumbling into preachiness.

This is responsible, intelligent film-making, more important and questioning than boarder dramas like the Oscar-winning The Holdovers and wisely side-stepping the shock value controversies of, say, 1979’s Scum.

Mielants is to be applauded for making his audience warm to a ragbag collection of ne’er-do-wells they might normally cross the street to avoid, and in Murphy’s title character he has helped fashion a poster child for underpaid, under-resourced workers navigating the obstacles that threaten the jobs they care passionately about.

One scene in particular, close to the conclusion of the film, reinforces the bond which inevitably forms between teachers and pupils; a dialogue-free snapshot that moistens the eyes to temporarily dilute the anger built up over the previous hour about the callous treatment by those in power towards a near forgotten underclass.

Steve will be released in select UK cinemas on Friday 19th September and on Netflix on Friday 3rd October.

When Juhi Chawla Revealed Shah Rukh Khan Once Came Dejected On Film Set — Here’s What Happened

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has a net worth of Rs 7300 crore, according to GQ India. He lives in a Rs 200 crore mansion today called ‘Mannat’ and owns an extensive car collection that features four-wheelers from brands like BMW, Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Bugatti, and Range Rover. However, did you know there was a time when SRK’s car was taken away as he couldn’t pay its EMI? Those were Shah Rukh’s initial days in the Hindi film industry.

One of his closest co-stars and a business friend, actor Juhi Chawla, made this revelation. She had seen SRK very closely and had known him since the day he didn’t have his house when he used to eat food on the film unit’s set.

While speaking at an event once, Juhi revealed how Shah Rukh once came dejected on the film set after his car was taken away as he couldn’t afford to pay its installment.

Juhi Chawla Recalls Shah Rukh Khan’s Early Struggles When His Car Was Taken Away

“He had no home in Mumbai, as he came from Delhi. Nobody cooked for him, so he used to eat at the unit. Unit ka khana khaate they..unit ki chai peete they. He had one car. It was a black gypsy. He used to do 2-3 shifts as he used to work around the clock. He was very driven. For some reason, he could not pay for his car; maybe he couldn’t pay his EMI. I don’t think something happened, and his car got taken away. That day, he came very dejected to his set, and I said, ‘Don’t worry, you will have many cars. They will come, you see,’ I told him. This is nothing.’ And look at him, where he has gone. Where he has reached today,” Juhi said.

Shah Rukh has worked in several movies with Juhi, such as Darr, Yes Boss, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Duplicate, Ram Jaane, and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani.

Shah Rukh Khan’s On Work Front

The 59-year-old actor came to Mumbai from Delhi in 1991. He initially started with the television serial Fauji and, in 1992, landed a role in the film Deewana. Shah Rukh’s entry became a rage, which was the beginning of the era of SRK.

In his three-decade career, he has done more than 100 films, winning 14 Filmfare awards for the role of Best Actor. In 2023, he gave back-to-back three blockbusters: Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. His next release, King, is expected to hit the theaters in October 2025.

Saiyaara is the no 1 non English film on Netflix globally, beats Fall For Me; Ahaan, Aneet thank fans for all the love

Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda-starrer Saiyaara has become the most-watched non-English film on Netflix globally within five days of its streaming release.

In its debut week on streaming, Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara has scripted history by becoming the most-watched non-English film on the platform globally. The romantic drama has beaten German erotic thriller Fall For Me and Netflix’s Hindi original, Inspector Zende, in the race.

Saiyaara tops Netflix’s global charts

As per Tudum, Netflix’s databank of best-performing titles, Saiyaara is trending at number 1 in the list of non-English films worldwide, with 3.7 million views and 9.3 million hours viewed. Fall For Me is in the second spot with 6.5 million hours viewed, while Inspector Zende, starring Manoj Bajpayee, rounds up the top 3 with 6.2 million hours viewed. The only other Indian film in the top 10 is Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom, which sits in the 9th spot with 2.5 million hours viewed.

Saiyaara is currently the number 1 non-English film on Netflix globally.
Saiyaara is currently the number 1 non-English film on Netflix globally.

On Wednesday afternoon, Netflix India shared a video message from the film’s leads – Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda – reacting to the film’s performance on streaming. “For giving Saiyaara all the love in the world, we love you forever and ever and ever. Saiyaara is trending globally on Netflix, only because of you. Thank you for watching and rewatching, and rewatching,” the actors said in the message.

Saiyaara’s successful run

Saiyaara released on Netflix last Friday, and has climbed to the global number 1 position in just five days. Given its box office performance and craze among the passes, the film was expected to do well upon its streaming release, but it would be safe to say, the film has surpassed expectations. None of the recent big-budget Indian films have managed to enter the global top 3 of Netflix, let alone top it.

Saiyaara is a love story of a temperamental singer (played by Ahaan) and a songwriter (Aneet). Their love is tested by her early-onset Alzheimer’s. The film, a musical drama, saw director Mohit Suri return to the romantic genre after over a decade, and to great returns. Saiyaara has grossed ₹577 crore worldwide, becoming not just the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, but also the highest-grossing romantic film in the history of Indian cinema. It has also catapulted its two leads to overnight stardom, particularly among the younger audiences.

Spain Submits ‘Sirât’ For Best International Feature Film

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Oliver Laxe’s Sirat, which won the jury prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, has been submitted as Spain’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th annual Academy Awards.

The film was picked this afternoon by the Spanish Film Academy. Sirat was chosen from a shortlist of three films, which included Carla Simón’s Romería and Sorda, directed by Eva Libertad.

Sirat follows man (Sergi López) and his son (Bruno Núñez Arjona) arrive at a remote rave in the mountains of southern Morocco. They are looking for Mar, their daughter and sister, who disappeared months ago at one of these parties that never end. They hand out her photo over and over again, surrounded by electronic music and a kind of freedom they have never known. There, they decide to follow a group of ravers in search of one last party to be held in the desert, where they hope to find the missing young woman.

The film stars veteran actor Sergi Lopez alongside Bruno Núñez Arjona, Richard Bellamy, Stefania Gadda, and Joshua Liam Henderson.

Sirat is an original Movistar Plus+ film produced in collaboration with Filmes da Ermida, El Deseo, Uri Films and 4a4 Productions, distributed in Spain by Bteam Pictures. International sales are handled by The Match Factory. Neon will release the film in the United States.

Filmmaker Pablo Berger, who was Oscar-nominated last year for Robot Dreams, announced this pick this morning. He was joined by Spanish Academy President Fernando Méndez-Leite.

Spain’s pick last year was Saturn Return by Isaki Lacuesta and Pol Rodríguez. The film did not make the shortlist.

Sirat will screen at the upcoming San Sebastian Film Festival.

This star kid was fired from debut film, replaced by Rani Mukerji; left with no money to pay rent

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Breaking into Bollywood has never been easy, and many actors have often spoken about losing roles to star kids with powerful connections. But one of the star kids had the opposite experience. Soha Ali Khan, despite coming from a film family, once left her corporate job to pursue her debut film, only to be replaced before she could even begin shooting, after Shah Rukh Khan came on board as the lead.

This Bollywood actor was fired and replaced from her debut film.

Soha Ali Khan left her job for debut film

Soha recalled how she was replaced by Rani Mukerji in her first film and told Mashable India, “It was my first film. I quit Citibank. I had to pay ₹17,000 as my rent. I was earning a good salary. And my plan was to leave for London. I was thinking that I would get a work permit there, and I would eventually settle there. Then Amol Palekar came to me, and he spoke to me about the script. I had been offered some films because of my brother (Saif Ali Khan) and my mother (Sharmila Tagore).”

She revealed that she had an interest in acting and getting that first pay cheque, but she underestimated what it took to become a film actor. She admitted that she didn’t understand the skill set needed to act in films at that time. She further shared that Amol Palekar was a “credible and renowned filmmaker” and as she liked the subject she was presented, she immediately agreed to the project. However, Amol asked Soha to quit her job so that she could give a couple of months to the film.

The actor recalled that Amol was planning to launch a male actor in the film with her, and they had both started reading the script. However, she hadn’t signed any contract. Despite this, Soha revealed that she quit her job because she was unaware that until you have been signed or started shooting for the film, it’s not 100 per cent certain that you would be in it.

Soha Ali Khan was fired from Paheli

She recalled being fired from the film and said, “Amol ji called me and said, ‘Shah Rukh Khan is playing the role. I said, ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’ He said, ‘No, you don’t understand. That means you are not playing this role. Somebody else will be playing this.’ I was like, ‘Ouch’. Then I was like, ‘What do I do now? How do I pay my rent?” Eventually, her role was played by Rani Mukerji. The film received mixed-to-positive reviews and was a moderate success at the box office.

Soha then went on to sign a Bengali film, Iti Srikanta, directed by Anjan Das and featuring Adil Hussain and Reema Sen. The film released in 2004, even before Paheli (2005). Soha eventually made her Bollywood debut alongside Shahid Kapoor, Ayesha Takia and Tulip Joshi in Dil Maange More!!!. However, the film was a box-office failure. Soha gained recognition with her role in Rang De Basanti. Some of her other memorable films include Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster and Ghayal: Once Again among others. She was most recently seen in the movie Chhorii 2. Helmed by Vishal Furia, the horror film received mixed reviews and is available to watch on Prime Video.

Watch: Yorgos Lanthimos’ Prada Short Film with Scarlett Johansson

“Okay, the following is needed: Morning Breeze… Whisper of all your dead loved ones’ names… Rainwater that drips from a non-blooming cherry tree…” Such special ingredients… Another wacky, fun new film from Yorgos Lanthimos to enjoy this year. Alas this is only a 2-min short film (though I recommend watching Bugonia when it opens this fall). Prada has unveiled their newest promo – a short film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Scarlett Johansson made to promote the “Prada Galleria bag.” Which sells for the ridiculous price of around $1000-$5000 – which is exactly how they can afford to hire such a talented filmmaker / actress duo to make this commercial. Of course it’s just an ad, but it’s still fun to see Lanthimos putting in some of his usual strange touches. And with Scarlett, well, I can imagine this will be an effective campaign. The handbag is named after the brand’s historic flagship boutique, opened by Mario Prada in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan in 1913. Just what’s in that shiny sphere? And can we order one, too?

Thanks to Twitter for the tip on this debuting online. Original intro via YouTube: “Discover the new Prada campaign directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Prada Ambassador Scarlett Johansson. A cinematic study of transformation & persona, where ritual identities take place. A totem of change, the Prada Galleria handbag is reimagined season after season. In this film, it’s central to a story of perpetual transformation – of the self, of identity, of Prada itself.” This “Prada Galleria bag” promotional short film is directed by Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, director of the films My Best Friend, Kinetta, Dogtooth, Alps, The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Favourite, Poor Things, Kinds of Kindness, as well as this year’s new film Bugonia, plus many other shorts & music videos. With creative direction by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons for Prada. The marketing campaign creative director is Ferdinando Verderi. For more on this short, head to YouTube or visit Prada’s website.
