Official US Trailer for ‘Radu Jude’s Dracula’ Film Out Later This Month

“Suck it, Dracula!” 1-2 Special has revealed the full official US trailer for a film called Dracula, yet another new Dracula movie this year – along with Luc Besson’s Dracula. This one is actually called Radu Jude’s Dracula, the official title because it’s directed by Romanian filmmaker Radu Jude. Looks totally bonkers! He’s the original intro from the Locarno Film Festival: “A Dracula film made in Transylvania. What does it contain? A vampire hunt. Zombies & Dracula crashing a strike. A sci-fi story about Vlad the Impaler coming back. An adaptation of the first Romanian vampire novella. A love story. A montage film reusing a classic vampire film. A vulgar folktale. AI-generated kitsch stories. And many delights in a film dealing with this cinema myth.” The film is a riff on Artificial intelligence including scenes created with AI because it’s acting as commentary on how stupid AI is, not indulging in it. This stars Adonis Tanța, Oana Maria Zaharia, Gabriel Spahiu, Ilinca Manolache, Alexandru Dabija, Andrada Balea, Doru Talos, Lukas Miko, Serban Pavlu, and Alexandra Harapu. This looks like a crazy fun new creation from Radu Jude’s mind.

Here’s the official US trailer (+ poster) for Radu Jude’s Dracula, direct from 1-2’s YouTube:

Radu Jude's Poster

A frustrated filmmaker, facing creative paralysis, turns to an AI chatbot in order to make his latest movie a hit. The result is a series of increasingly outrageous vignettes exploring the myth of Dracula in all its forms. From a wild chase through the streets of modern Transylvania to eerie hauntings in the Romanian countryside, cinematic provocateur Radu Jude returns with another boundary-pushing epic featuring a union-busting Dracula breaking a strke, an adaptation of the first Romania vampire novella, thwarted romance, fields of phalluses, lots of blood, and much more. Radu Jude’s Dracula is written and directed by acclaimed Romanian indie filmmaker Radu Jude, director of many indie films including The Happiest Girl in the World, A Film for Friends, Everybody in Our Family, Aferim!, Scarred Hearts, I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians, Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn, and Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World previously, plus tons of other shorts & unique docs. Produced by Rodrigo Teixeira & Alexandru Teodorescu. This first premiered at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival a few months ago. 1-2 Special will release Radu Jude’s Dracula in select US theaters starting October 29th, 2025 this fall. Who’s down?

₹3 crore offer to play villain in Pawan Kalyan film: ‘Not interested’”>

Updated on: Oct 08, 2025 01:51 pm IST

Malla Reddy says Harish Shankar approached him to play the villain in Pawan Kalyan-starrer Ustaad Bhagat Singh. Here’s why he said no.

Politician and businessman Malla Reddy is frequently invited as a chief guest to movie events, with his speeches often eliciting laughter or raising eyebrows. In an interview with TV9, he revealed that his association with Tollywood did not stop there and that he was even offered ₹3 crore to play the villain in Pawan Kalyan’s next film. Here’s why he turned it down.

Politician Malla Reddy turned down an offer to play the villain in Pawan Kalyan’s next film.

Malla Reddy on turning down Pawan Kalyan film

Reddy stated in the interview that Harish approached him to play the villain in Ustaad Bhagat Singh, but that he wasn’t interested in playing the template role. “Harish Shankar approached me to play the villain in Pawan Kalyan’s film. He spoke to me for an hour at my college and even offered me a remuneration of ₹3 crore. I told him I am not interested in playing the villain. If I play the villain, I will yell at the hero till the interval. In the second half of the film, he will beat me up,” he said, making his family and the anchor crack up.

This is not the first time Reddy has spoken about the director approaching him about the project. At the teaser launch of Memu Famous in 2023, he spoke vaguely about it, although he then shifted his focus to discussing the production of films soon. He said, “Harish Shankar tried to convince me for an hour and a half to play the villain.” When the crowd started screaming ‘hero’ in jest, he laughed and replied, “I won’t play a hero because you’ll get bored with me, you can’t see me like that. After the elections, I want to start producing some good Telangana films.”

About Ustaad Bhagat Singh

Ustaad Bhagat Singh is directed by Harish and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. It stars Pawan and Sreeleela in lead roles. It is an adaptation of Atlee’s 2016 Vijay-starrer Theri, which was recently also remade in Hindi with Varun Dhawan as Baby John. The film is expected to be released in theatres in 2026. Pawan, who is now the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has yet to announce any other upcoming films. He was most recently seen in Hari Hara Veera Mallu and They Call Him OG.

Released on October 2, the worldwide collections of the film are now estimated to be Rs 407 crore (gross) after six days. A prequel to his National Award-winning film Kantara (2022), Kantara Chapter 1 continues to steamroll new milestones and with each passing day at the box office. Kantara Chapter 1 worldwide box office collection day 6: The Rishab Shetty film is now the second-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time.

Kantara Chapter 1 worldwide box office collection: Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 continues to steamroll past milestones and landmarks each day it spends in the theatres. The Kannada period action film has now crossed ₹400 crore worldwide, eclipsing the lifetime collection of the first Kantara film in the process.

Kantara Chapter 1 worldwide box office collection day 6: Rishab Shetty and Rukmini Vasanth star in this blockbuster.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office update

Kantara Chapter 1 had a very strong opening weekend, particularly in India. It has since carried that momentum on to the weekdays, showing just a small drop on Monday, and then managing to climb back on Tuesday. So far, the film has earned ₹290.25 crore net ( ₹348 crore gross) in India in its six-day run at the box office.

Overseas, Kantara Chapter 1 has not set the cash registers ringing quite at the same level as the Indian market, but it has done well. In its first six days, the film has collected over $7 million in international territories. This takes its worldwide collection to ₹414 crore with a couple of days still remaining in its first week at the ticket window.

Kantara Chapter 1 becomes second-highest-grossing Kannada film

On Sunday, Kantara Chapter 1 had gone past the lifetime collection of KGF Chapter 1. On Tuesday, it surpassed the first Kantara as well. The 2022 sleeper hit had earned ₹408 crore worldwide, which Kantara Chapter 1 has now surpassed. It is now the second-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, behind only KGF Chapter 1 ( ₹1250 crore). On Tuesday, Kantara Chapter 1 also beat the lifetime haul of other recent hits like Kamal Haasan’s Vikram ( ₹413 crore) and the Bollywood horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 ( ₹411 crore). It now has a chance to be the first Indian film to breach ₹1000 crore this year.

All about Kantara Chapter 1

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 is a prequel to the 2022 sleeper hit Kantara. Set a thousand years before the events of the first film, it shows the tussle between the residents of Kantara and a neighbouring kingdom that wants to annex their lands and resources. Apart from Rishab in the lead, the period action drama also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah in the lead roles. Kantara Chapter 1 has received glowing reviews from critics and fans alike.

The Lost Bus true story: How accurate is the Matthew McConaughey film?

The Lost Bus true story: How accurate is the Matthew McConaughey film?

by jummy84 October 7, 2025
written by jummy84

It stars Matthew McConaughey as a bus driver who emerged as a true hero in the midst of the disaster, after he drove 22 children and their teachers to safety during the catastrophic fire, with the film depicting some incredibly dramatic scenes as he took charge of the situation.

Read on for everything you need to know about the true story behind the film.

Is The Lost Bus based on a true story?

The simple answer is yes – the film is based on true events that occurred during the 2018 Camp Fire in Northern California’s Butte County, which became one of the most destructive wildfires in the state’s history.

Specifically, it adapts a section of Lizzie Johnson’s non-fiction book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire, focusing on the heroic exploits of bus driver Kevin McKay, who was responsible for navigating 22 children and their teachers to safety in the midst of the carnage.

How accurate does The Lost Bus portray the real events?

In the loosest sense, The Lost Bus appears to be a broadly accurate retelling of events as they happened – but there are certainly areas in which dramatic liberties have been taken to exaggerate certain elements and even add some fictional beats.

For example, the storyline about McKay’s teenage son Shaun is amended for the film. In reality, he had evacuated hours before his father began his perilous journey and so McKay did not need to worry about his son’s safety while he was driving.

The Lost Bus. Apple

Meanwhile, most of the more dramatic action sequences are also an exaggeration, added to transform the film into a cinematic affair: in real life, most of the journey involved them being stuck in traffic rather than driving at high speeds and dodging fires.

Many of the other extra dramatic aspects – including the scene where armed looters banged on the door and the part in which McKay stopped the bus in the middle of an empty park are also inventions, while the loss of connection the bus experienced also appears to have been exaggerated.

So while the heroics of McKay were undoubtedly very real, it’s best to take the events seen in the film with a pinch of salt.

What real events are left out in The Lost Bus?

The most obvious omission in the film is that one of the two teachers who was present in the bus – the then-29-year-old Abbie Davis – is left out of the narrative, with the only named teacher being America Ferrera’s Mary Ludwig. This was actually at the request of the real Davis, who told the filmmakers that she wished not to be included.

Meanwhile, the film also doesn’t deal with the aftermath of the fire, which saw Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) accepting responsibility due to faulty equipment it operated, pleading guilty to 84 felony counts of involuntary manslaughter and an additional felony count of unlawfully starting a fire.

Explaining why there wasn’t more focus on PG&E, Greengrass told Time that the film was “not really a film about PG&E” and that while “their failure to maintain the infrastructure was the prime course of the fire”, the “thing that movies do best is [portray] the resilience of human beings in the face of adversity and peril”.

Yami Gautam In Talks To Team Up With Kriti Sanon For Aanand L Rai’s Folklore Film Nayi Naveli: Deets Inside!

by jummy84 October 7, 2025

Yami Gautam is reportedly in talks with director Aanand L Rai to play a parallel lead in his upcoming fantasy film, Nayi Naveli, starring Kriti Sanon. The film draws inspiration from Indian folk tales, and the makers are keen to have Yami on board. Yami has recently resumed work after her maternity leave. Meanwhile, her next film, Haq, is set to release in theatres on November 7. Reports suggest that the discussions are ongoing, and if finalized, Yami will join Kriti in bringing this folk-inspired fantasy story to the big screen, adding excitement for audiences.

Yami Gautam in talks for Nayi Naveli?

A source familiar with the matter told Mid-Day: “Rai has been particular about the story’s tone — he wants it to feel rooted in Indian folk tradition, but have a big-screen fantasy appeal. Casting Kriti was the first step because she has the acting prowess and star presence required for the role. She will be seen as part-folklore heroine, and part-mystical warrior. Now, they are in talks with Yami for a meaty role. The two actors haven’t shared screen space before, and that novelty will grab eyeballs.”

The source further mentioned, “Kriti is occupied with Tere Ishk Mein promotions throughout October, while Yami is tied up with Haq, which releases in early November. If Yami comes on board, the idea is to begin workshops and costume trials by November so that the shoot can start in December.”

About Haq

Yami Gautam movie Haq

Yami’s Haq, featuring Emraan Hashmi, starts as a love story but quickly evolves into a deeper conflict between a husband and wife. What seems like a personal disagreement turns into a larger discussion about important social issues that remain relevant today, such as faith, identity, liberalism, personal beliefs, and the law. At the heart of the story is the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) under Article 44, raising questions about its impact on society. The film also features Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Hussain, and Aseem Hattangady in key roles, adding depth and intensity to the narrative.

Ahahaha someone finally found a fun way to make fun of standing ovation clocks at film festivals. One of the dumbest film journalism trends of this day & age is the way someone will literally count the minutes during a standing ovation at the end of a film’s world premiere at major film festivals including Cannes & Venice. I even wrote an article once how entirely pointless & stupid this trend is, and how standing ovations actually mean nothing, and they usually happen because audiences are obsessed with celebrities (it’s objectively not a measure of the quality of the film or anything besides who is in the audience / why aren’t they leaving). This funny short called Ovation is a riff on this trend, featuring actor Luke Barnett during his Cannes Film Festival premiere of the film The Last Saint of Inishberry (entirely made up). It’s also a satirical answer to the question: what do these actors do during a 20 min standing ovation? Well, watch and find out.

Ovation Short Film

Thanks to Luke on Twitter for the tip on this debuting online. Brief intro via YouTube: “An actor’s journey through a never-ending standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival.” Ovation is a short directed by Los Angeles-based filmmaker Noam Kroll – he runs a filmmaking community website and provides advice – he also has a “commercial production house called ‘Creative Rebellion'”, and runs a filmmaking blog to inspire others. Follow him on Twitter @noamkroll or on IG @noamkroll or visit his YouTube page or Vimeo page. Written and performed by Luke Barnett (also of the acclaimed short The Crossing Over Express). With cinematography by Andy Chinn. Produced by Luke Barnett & Noam Kroll. For more info on this film, visit YouTube or read the article on Variety. Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra’s romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari had a good opening weekend. Despite stiff competition from Kantara: Chapter 1 and Jolly LLB 3, the Shashank Khaitan-directed film has maintained an upward trend at the box office.

Day 4 (Sunday) witnessed the film raking in ₹8.20 crore, indicating an increase from Saturday’s total of ₹7.80 crore. Family entertainer genre and the positive word-of-mouth are quite doing their part as far as attracting audience is concerned. The total net collection of the film in India is ₹32.12 crore while the gross collection remains around ₹37.90 crore.

Day-wise collection (Net India collection) is as below:

Day 1 (Thursday): ₹10.11 crore

Day 2 (Friday): ₹6.01 crore

Among Bollywood’s 2025 romantic releases, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is now #2 after Saiyaara’s record-breaking ₹84.50 crore opening weekend. It has taken over the box office of movies like Param Sundari, Bhool Chuk Maaf, and Dhadak 2.

Top 2025 Romantic Bollywood Openers (Net India):

Saiyaara – ₹84.50 crore

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari – ₹32.12 crore

Bhool Chuk Maaf – ₹28.71 crore

Param Sundari – ₹28.48 crore

Metro In Dino – ₹18.65 crore

With the good opening and good reaction, everyone waits for its Monday hold now. If the pace continues, the film can enjoy a good run to look forward to.

Actress Sharvari has officially signed on to star opposite Ahaan Panday in an upcoming untitled action-romance directed by filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar. According to a source close to IANS, this fresh pairing brings together two of the most promising Gen Z talents in Indian cinema.

“With Saiyaara creating history at the box office, Ahaan Panday has become the biggest Gen Z male actor in the country,” the source said. “Sharvari, too, proved her box office appeal with the ₹100 crore blockbuster Munjya. These two actors have shown that pure talent can still draw audiences to theatres.”

The film marks Ali Abbas Zafar’s fifth collaboration with producer Aditya Chopra, following successful projects like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Gunday, Sultan, and Tiger Zinda Hai. The new project aims to blend romance and high-octane action while staying emotionally grounded.

“This is a fresh and exciting development,” the source added. “Ali now has two incredible young actors who will bring his vision of a youthful action-romance to life. Their chemistry, never seen before on screen, will create curiosity and anticipation among fans.”
