Lostprophets Singer Ian Watkins Dead at 48 After Prison Attack

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins has died at the age of 48 after he was attacked in prison Saturday, it has been confirmed.

Watkins was serving a 29-year jail term after being convicted of a string of heinous sexual offenses, including crimes against young children and babies at HMP Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed Watkins’ death and said detectives from the homicide and major inquiry team have begun an investigation after prison staff were called to an assault on a prisoner on Saturday morning and found Watkins dead at the scene.

The details of the attack are yet to be revealed, but Sky News says he was attacked with a knife, while The Sun claims he had his throat slashed after inmates were unlocked from their cells this morning.

Watkins was previously attacked at the jail in August 2023 by three other prisoners, an incident that left him with neck injuries which required hospital treatment. England’s HMP Wakefield is considered one of the country’s most notorious prisons, and dubbed the “Monster Mansion” as its residents include serial killers, murderers and pedophiles.

Watkins was jailed in December 2013 after admitting a string of horrific sex offenses – including the attempted rape of a fan’s baby; a trial judge later said that the charges against Watkins “plumbed new depths of depravity.” (During trial, it was revealed that the password to encrypted files on Watkins’ computer was “I FUK KIDZ.”)

Watkins was initially arrested in September 2012 after police executed a drugs search warrant at his home in Pontypridd and seized a large number of computers, mobile phones and storage devices.

Trending Stories

In 2019, Watkins was given 10 additional months in prison after a mobile phone was found in his possession; he argued that he was forced by other prisoners to hold onto the phone. While fighting the charges, Watkins refrained from revealing which prisoners gave him the phone out of fear, saying he was locked up with “murderers, mass murderers, rapists, pedophiles, serial killers – the worst of the worst.”

Watkins founded Lostprophets in 2000, with the Welsh band going on to sell more than 3.4 million albums across the globe with hits such as “Last Train Home” and “Rooftops.” Their last record was 2012’s Weapons, released two months before Watkins’ arrest.

Diane Keaton Dead: Oscar-Winning Actress Was 79

by jummy84 October 11, 2025

Diane Keaton, the Oscar-winning actress known for her roles in films such Annie Hall, Father of the Bride, The Godfather, and First Wives Club, has died at the age of 79. People confirmed on Saturday that Keaton passed away in California, adding that “her loved ones have asked for privacy.”

Known for her quirky charm, distinctive fashion sense, and ability to portray both comedic and dramatic roles with unmatched skill, Keaton’s career spanned over five decades and resulted in an Academy Award, a BAFTA, and two Golden Globes.

Keaton’s career began on stage as an understudy in the original 1968 production of Hair, followed by her first collaboration with Woody Allen in the 1969 stage version of Play It Again, Sam, which earned her a Tony Award nomination. Her true breakout role came in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather (1972), where she starred as Kay Adams, the faithful but concerned wife of Michael Corleone. She reprised the character two years later in The Godfather Part II, earning further critical acclaim.

It was her lead role in Woody Allen’s 1977 romantic comedy Annie Hall that earned her an Academy Award and established her as a true star. As the titular romantic interest for Allen’s Alvy, Keaton made bold fashion choices for the character — inspiring an entire generation of girls to explore menswear — while celebrating Annie’s quirks and passions as an independent woman of her era.

Keaton made eight movies with Allen in total, including Sleeper (1973), Manhattan (1979), and Radio Days (1987). and Sleeper. Another writer/director she worked with multiple times was Nancy Meyers, starring in the Meyers-penned Baby Boom (1987), Father of the Bride (1991), and Father of the Bride Part II (1995). Meyers then directed her in Something’s Gotta Give (2003), in which Keaton found herself in an unexpected love triangle between Jack Nicholson and Keanu Reeves.

Her other notable roles included appearing alongside Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn in the revenge comedy First Wives Club (1996); she would also team up with Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen for Book Club and its 2023 sequel. Her work as a voice actress was limited to speaking the inner monologue of a dog in Look Who’s Talking Now (1993), the voice of Dory’s mother in Pixar’s Finding Dory (2016), and a onoing role on Netflix’s Dr. Seuss series adaptation Green Eggs and Ham (2019-2022).

On television, before breaking out as a film actress Keaton appeared in the 1970s anthology series Love, American Style and Rod Serling’s Night Gallery. Later in her career, she starred in the infamous 2011 HBO unaired pilot Tilda, a show loosely based on Deadline Hollywood founder Nikki Finke co-starring Elliot Page. In 2016, she returned to HBO as a smoking, basketball-playing nun for the Jude Law-starring limited series The Young Pope. She also played Justin Bieber’s grandmother in the 2021 video for his song “Ghost.”

Outside of acting, Keaton was a photographer, producer, real estate developer, writer, and activist. She is survived by her two children.

Dieane Keaton Dead: Oscar Winner Was 79

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Diane Keaton, the iconoclastic and left-of-center Oscar-winning film and fashion icon, has died, according to a family spokesperson who shared the news with People magazine. She was 79 years old. Further details about her death were not made available. She received four Academy Award nominations, winning in 1977 for “Annie Hall,” the film that turned her into a household name and one of the most recognizable figures in American movies. Keaton received an AFI Life Achievement Award in 2017.

Her collaborations with Woody Allen began onscreen with director Herbert Ross’ “Play It Again, Sam” in 1972, the same year she starred as Kay Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather.” Her comedic appeal was cemented in Allen films — the two were also romantically involved — like “Sleeper’ and “Love and Death” before the title character in “Annie Hall” changed the course of her career and the course of movies. Before that, though, she had starred with Allen in the stage version of “Play It Again, Sam” in 1969 and in the musical “Hair,” propelling her from her birth city of Los Angeles to New York. Keaton for most of her life resided in Los Angeles, where she flipped and designed houses. As a single parent — she made being single and evasive of later romantic partnerships part of her identity, too — she adopted her daughter Dexter in 1996 and son Duke five years later.

Jafar Panahi and Martin Scorsese

She never quite fit into any box comfortably, but brought to her roles both a nervous energy and focused intensity. The same year as “Annie Hall,” she also starred in the controversial, cautionary morality tale “Looking for Mr. Goodbar” as a schoolteacher of deaf children who is tormented by the men she dates in New York City; it’s certainly her darkest role and was an early beacon of a propensity for drama as much as comedy.

After her Best Actress win for “Annie Hall,” she also received Oscar nominations for “Reds,” “Marvin’s Room,” and “Something’s Gotta Give,” the Nancy Meyers film largely seen as her big-screen comeback in 2003. That was also the film that launched a late-career stretch of romantic comedies and movies for older audiences in which she largely plays a version of herself: neurotic, quirky, unfiltered, and in impeccable head-to-toe tailoring.

Making guardedness and affable self-deprecation part of her identity, Keaton was known for wearing turtlenecks, gloves, and hats that kept her largely covered up, saving emotional vulnerability for her performances. Ralph Lauren gave much of the credit for the “Annie Hall” costumes to Keaton herself, and wide-legged pants, blazers, vests, ties, and oversized hats — all a playful, Chaplinesque spin on tailored menswear — became signatures in her look: Keaton is recognizable in any of her films because she always appeared to have a hand in her characters’ styling.

The recent “Book Club” films exemplify her late-career attitude. There was a sense in Keaton’s late years that she wanted to have a good time onscreen with collaborators she enjoyed, such as the “Book Club” series co-stars Jane Fonda and Candice Bergen.

A throughline of her film career was working with top filmmakers to deliver complicated performances that pushed her against comfortability, whether in Allen’s darker efforts (like “Interiors,” or aspects of “Manhattan” as a self-defeating intellectual) or with Coppola, Warren Beatty (“Reds,” and another collaborator with whom she was romantically involved), or a box-office favorite like Charles Shyer with the 1987 feminist comedy “Baby Boom.” In 1993, she reteamed with Allen for the last time on the delightfully anxious New York comedy “Manhattan Murder Mystery.”

Around that time she had been at the end of a relationship with her “Godfather” co-star of all three films, Al Pacino. She detailed that relationship movingly in her wonderfully frank and fresh memoirs “Then Again” (2011) and “Let’s Just Say It Wasn’t Pretty” (2014), two books where you really feel her voice ringing through rather than a ghost memoirist taking dictation.

Comedies really became Keaton’s preferred genre in the last 30 years or so, from the delightfully camp “The First Wives Club” in 1996 to films like “And So It Goes,” “The Book Wedding,” and “The Family Stone” more recently. Don’t forget she also played Justin Bieber’s grandmother in the 2021 music video “Ghost” and starred as a sparky nun on HBO’s “The Young Pope.”

She also had credits behind the camera, including as the director of “Hanging Up” and the documentary “Heaven” as well as episodic television, including on Season 2 episodes of “Twin Peaks” in its early run. These directorial projects were less successful; those “Twin Peaks” episodes especially are not in the series’ annals even as she was largely following the series rulebook on a job for hire. But they showed a curiosity and collaborative spirit, which she maintained through to the end. The last movie she starred in was 2024’s “Summer Camp” with Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard.

Her belovedness was no better exemplified recently than in 2017 when Woody Allen, then already well into being on shaky ground with Hollywood, made a rare public appearance at the AFI Life Achievement Award ceremony to present the honor to his dear friend, ex-partner, and most important collaborator. As far as American movies are concerned, she’s up there as one of the most recognizable, inimitable, and singularly stamped stars of all time; her impact on Hollywood will be impossible to recreate, but it’s not like any of the essential films she starred in is going anywhere any time soon.

Moody Blues Legend John Lodge Dead at Age 82

written by jummy84

Legendary Moody Blues singer-bassist John Lodge has died “suddenly and unexpectedly” at the age of 82. The announcement was made Friday morning by the musician’s family.

A statement posted on Lodge’s official Facebook page, and shared on Moody Blues’ Facebook page, reads as follows:

“It is with the deepest sadness that we have to announce that John Lodge, our darling husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and brother has been suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us. As anyone who knew this massive hearted man knows, it was his enduring love of his wife, Kirsten, and his family, that was the most important thing to him, followed by his passion for music, and his faith.

He was never happier than being on stage – he was ‘Just a ‘Singer in a Rock and Roll Band’ and he adored performing with his band and son-in-law, Jon [Davison] (vocalist with YES), and being able to continue sharing this music with his fans. It gave him even more joy to be able to work with his daughter Emily and son Kristian and spend time watching his grandson John-Henry play football and dream of him playing for Birmingham City one day!

John peacefully slipped away surrounded by his loved-ones and the sounds of The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly. We will forever miss his love, smile, kindness, and his absolute and never-ending support. We are heartbroken, but will walk forwards into peace surrounded by the love he had for each of us. As John would always say at the end of the show, thank you for keeping the faith.

Please understand that we are not making any further comments, however we would like to leave you with John’s song ’Whispering Angels’ whilst we take a moment to reflect on this incredible man who touched so many lives.”

Lodge was born in Birmingham, England, on July 20th, 1983. He was a classic member of The Moody Blues, having joined the UK band in 1966, and remained with them until they became inactive in 2018. He appeared on all of their albums aside from their 1965 debut, The Magnificent Moodies.

He was the co-lead vocalist of the Moody Blues with Justin Hayward, and sang lead on such hits as “Ride My See-Saw,” “I’m Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band),” and “Candle of Life.” Along with his Moody Blues bandmates, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

Lodge also released a handful of solo albums, and was actively touring up until August of this year, with his final gig being August 7th in Des Plaines, Illinois, where he performed a set of 17 Moody Blues songs.

Our condolences go out to John Lodge’s family, friends, and bandmates during this difficult time. Revisit a couple of his classic songs with the Moody Blues below.

‘She Went Through Deep Emotional Pain’, Recalls Abhishek When Jaya Bachchan Was Asked To Image Him As The Dead Body During A Shoot

Almost every actor of the entertainment industry has to undergo grief pain and emotional rollercoaster to get into their character so did Bollywood’s legendary actress Jaya Bachchan. According to some of the media reports, she once faced a deeply personal and emotional challenge while filming “Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa” in 1998. Director Govind Nihalani asked her to imagine her son Abhishek Bachchan’s death for a pivotal scene, which left her visibly shaken.

Jaya Bachchan Was Left Debastated

Let us tell you that Abhishek Bachchan, who was working as an assistant director at the time, recalled his mother’s distress. “She came back home and was deeply upset,” he said. Actually, Jaya Bachchan had to film a scene where she had to identify her son’s dead body, and the director’s request to imagine Abhishek’s death added to her emotional turmoil to that specific scene making it seems more realistic.

During a recent conversation, Abhishek Bachchan reflected on the challenges actors face in bringing characters to life. “It sounds harsh, but actors go through this,” he said. “Even if he hadn’t said it, he would have thought it through to embody that emotion. You bring a lot of personal things into your work.” Abhishek emphasized the importance of directors in shaping an actor’s performance, likening actors to “puppets” who bring their emotions and experiences to their roles.

If we talk about the professional front of Abhishek Bachchan, then let us tell you that he has an exciting lineup of films, including “King” with Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film is set to release in 2027. Recently, Abhishek was seen in “I Want to Talk,” directed by Shoojit Sircar, which has received positive reviews.

“I can assure you – you have nothing to fear.” Vertical has unveiled a teaser trailer for a horror thriller film titled We Bury The Dead, made by genre filmmaker Zak Hilditch from Australia. This already premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival earlier in the year to superb reviews – though they’ve now scheduled it for release in January 2026 right after the New Year. Setting this up to be a chilling way to kick off 2026 with some unsettling cinema. After a catastrophic military disaster in Tasmania leaves many people gone from a disease, the dead don’t just rise – they hunt. Ava searches for her missing husband among the dead, but what she finds is far more terrifying. Ava joins a “body retrieval unit,” but her search takes a chilling turn when the corpses she’s burying start showing signs of life. Starring Daisy Ridley, Brenton Thwaites, Matt Whelan, Chloe Hurst, Kym Jackson, & Mark Coles Smith. It’s a refreshing new entry in the zombie subgenre, with reviews saying it delivers “a few bursts of genuine scares in the process and an awe-inducing sense of scale.” This is a great teaser! I’ve seen enough – I’m sold & will watch. Horror fans – do not miss it.

Here’s the first look teaser for Zak Hilditch’s horror film We Bury The Dead, from Vertical’s YouTube:

China Selects Nanjing Massacre Film ‘Dead to Rights’ as Oscar Entry

by jummy84 September 28, 2025
written by jummy84

China has chosen Shen Ao’s “Dead to Rights” as its submission for the best international feature film category at the 98th Academy Awards.

Written by Shen Ao, Zhang Ke, and Xu Luyang, and set against the backdrop of the 1937 Nanjing Massacre and drawing from documented historical events, “Dead to Rights” follows A Chang (Liu Haoran of the “Detective Chinatown” franchise), a postman who assumes the identity of a photo developer to survive the Japanese occupation. Operating from within the walls of a Japanese-controlled studio, he covertly shelters Chinese soldiers and civilians in an act of quiet resistance.

The film is produced by Furuo Qing of “The Wandering Earth” franchise fame. Niu Vision Media and Echelon Studios released the film in North America in August.

“Dead to Rights” opened in China on July 25 and has grossed more than RMB3 billion ($415 million). It led the local box office for 16 consecutive days over the summer.

China has yet to win the international feature Oscar. The country has scored two nominations in the category to date, with Zhang Yimou’s “Ju Dou” (1991) and “Hero” (2003). Hong Kong, which submits separately, has earned three nominations: Zhang Yimou’s “Raise the Red Lantern” (1992), Chen Kaige’s “Farewell My Concubine” (1994) and Derek Tsang’s “Better Days” (2021).

Last year, China submitted Fang Li’s documentary “The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru,” which was disqualified by the Academy for not meeting language requirements.

The Oscar international feature shortlist will be announced on Dec. 16 and the final five nominees will be announced on Jan. 22.

Is Evelyn Dead? Ending and Shocking ‘Leap’ Scene Explained by Toni Collette (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Mae Martin‘s new Netflix series Wayward is a twisty psychological thriller about an academy for “troubled teens,” run by Evelyn Wade (Toni Collette), and the surrounding town that holds a whole lot of secrets.

Evelyn uses questionable methods to get the students to remember traumatic events from their past to prepare them for a ritual called “the Leap,” but the process is eventually turned on her in the end when Alex (Martin) injects her with a too-large portion of the drugs used, resulting in a haunting scene that shows Evelyn reacting to the psychedelic overload.

But did the injection actually kill her? “We actually did a lot of takes which were far more intense and it felt like Evelyn was gone forever,” Collette tells TV Insider. “But it’s kind of left a little open-ended.”

Martin, who created the show, confirms, “I think [Evelyn’s] still in there.”

Alex is a cop who’s new to the town of Tall Pines. He moved there with his pregnant wife, Laura (Sarah Gadon), who used to be a student at Tall Pines Academy and has a troubled history with Evelyn, memories of which she unlocks throughout the series. It doesn’t take long for Alex to notice that things are a little off at the Academy and within the town in general (for example, Tall Pines has no children.)

As he investigates, with help from two of the school’s teens, Abbie (Sydney Topliffe) and Leila (Alyvia Alyn Lind), he makes an enemy out of Evelyn, who wants to “Leap” him before he can find out the full truth of what she’s up to. When Alex escapes, he’s shocked to find that Laura has given birth to their child and is essentially sharing the baby with the rest of the people in the town. “It’s everyone’s. It’s the only way to break the pattern,” Laura insists.

While Alex seems horrified to see that his wife is essentially taking on Evelyn’s leadership role in a new form, he ultimately makes the decision to stay with her and their baby in Tall Pines. He helps Abbie escape by leaving her his car so she can leave town, but he doesn’t join her for the getaway.

“I knew that I wanted the show to escalate to something pretty surreal and almost sort of a parabole by the end, or a weird myth,” Martin explains. “Alex is a deeply flawed character who desperately wants acceptance, and I really understand his choice, in a way. He compromises a lot of his integrity and his morals, but he ultimately wants to stay with his wife and baby. I’m curious for what would happen for them in the future. I think their kid is going to be pretty messed up.”

As for whether or not we’ll get to explore the family’s future in another season of Wayward, that’s still up in the air. “I was told it was a miniseries, but there’s definitely more story to tell, I think,” Martin admits. “We left all those characters in crisis, basically.”

Collette adds that the cast “talks about” returning for a Season 2. “It’s endlessly intriguing,” she says. “Endlessly. So many places it could go, for sure.” As Gadon also points out, “Nothing’s tied up in a neat little bow.”

‘1000-Lb. Sisters’ Star Katie Slaton Dead After Cancer Battle

The world has lost a bright star.

Zuza Beine, the influencer known for showing her courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), has died. She was 14.

“It is with broken hearts that we share that Zuza died yesterday morning,” a statement written by members of her family read on a Sept. 23 Instagram post, alongside a picture of the teen smiling on the beach. “She lived 11 of her 14 years with a relentless cancer,  yet lived more fully and gratefully than most. Her being changed us forever, and her dying will too.”

“It is no coincidence to us that the last video she made captures what she was grateful for—a testament to a life filled with both beauty and suffering,” the post continued. “More than anything, she wanted to be a normal, healthy kid. But what made her life so beautiful was how she learned to face the hardest circumstances, like her disease, and still live fully.”

Vince Is Dead, Billy Burke Exits in Season 4 Trailer

by jummy84 September 23, 2025
written by jummy84

CBS isn’t going to make viewers wait until the Oct. 17 premiere to find out who survived the massive fire on “Fire Country.” On Tuesday, the first trailer for Season 4 revealed that Vince (Billy Burke) died in the burning building that the finale ended with, while both Sharon (Diane Farr) and Walter (Jeff Fahey) survived — and Bode (Max Thieriot) seemingly had to be locked in the truck in order to save him too.

In the trailer, Jake (Jordan Calloway) won’t allow Bode to run back inside; he yells, “I will never forgive this.”

After the fire, the trailer cuts to Bode giving a eulogy at his father’s funeral. “I’m going to spend the rest of my career protecting my father’s town, my father’s station, and my father’s mission,” he says. Later, it’s revealed that he feels that means he should be battalion chief, telling Jake (who, more qualified, wants the role), “It’s my birthright.”

The show’s creators opened up about the decision to kill off Vince, telling TVInsider that on a show about firefighters, it felt “truthful to the work that these people do” to have a death.

“Last season was about legacy — Vince dealing with the legacy of his father and using that as a lens to look at what his relationship with Bode was. And as we were talking about the end of the season, we felt like the thing that was really going to shake up the show and shake up our characters in the best way possible and force them to really reassess where they were and what they were doing was this kind of loss,” Tony Phelan said. “And so at the same time, we want to be very respectful of the character of Vince, of how important he is to the show, and how important Billy was as a presence on the show. So, the loss of Vince is going to echo through the entire season, and we are going to see our younger firefighters really have to begin to grapple with growing up and what is the next step for them.”

Elsewhere, the trailer previews a grieving Sharon telling the 42 they’re suspended from active duty and Audrey (Leven Rambin)’s return; plus, Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) tells Bode she still loves him. Though back for the premiere, Arcila is exiting the series after the episode.

Emmy winner Shawn Hatosy also joins this season and can be briefly seen visiting the firefighters in the trailer. He’ll be portraying a new character who helps firefighters deal with loss.
