Is Michelle Dead on ‘Brilliant Minds’? Brian Altemus Talks Cliffhanger and Charlie Reveal

by jummy84 December 2, 2025
written by jummy84

What To Know

  • The fall finale of Brilliant Minds Season 2 reveals Charlie’s true motivation for joining Wolf’s team: His new boss was his mother’s doctor when she died.
  • Brian Altemus discusses Charlie’s confrontation of Wolf, including what he meant to do with that address where his dad, Noah, supposedly is.
  • The episode ends with a dramatic cliffhanger involving Michelle, setting up an all hands on deck situation for the show’s return in 2026.

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Brilliant Minds Season 2 Episode 10 “The Resident.”]

The truth about Charlie (Brian Altemus) and just why he wanted to work for Wolf (Zachary Quinto) is revealed in the Brilliant Minds Season 2 fall finale. What a way to end the 2025 run of episodes!

Charlie lets Wolf in on that fact in the middle of a gala. As he explains, he got into medicine because his mother’s doctor sold his family a fantasy about her getting better when she was dying, and he wanted to make sure to tell his patients the truth. After, Charlie reveals to Wolf that his father drank himself to death after his mom’s death, and so he’s been alone since he was 14. Wolf tries apologizing, but Charlie refuses to forgive him. Instead, he gives him the address where his father is — Noah (Mandy Patinkin) left Wolf at the beginning of the season — and, since not processing trauma can break a person, wants to see who breaks first.

As the fall finale ends, Wolf goes to the address and, when no one answers, breaks in. Plus, Van (Alex MacNicoll) thinks his girlfriend Michelle (Stacey Farber), who had been hesitant to attend the gala, just didn’t show up, but she’s really unconscious in a car after a crash. Uh-oh!

Below, Brian Altemus breaks down the fall finale and teases what’s ahead after that cliffhanger.

This fall finale has major moments for Charlie. How much of his backstory had you known from the beginning? Had you known about his mom and everything from the beginning of the season?

Brian Altemus: Not from the beginning of the season. By the time we were filming Episode 4 or 5, I was starting to piece a little bit more and more together. Michael Grassi does an incredible job of giving information, teasing information, even for us, so we’re kind of jumping in the deep end of what we imagine and just going 110% in that direction, just trusting that the writers have something really good lined up for us, and they continue to do so.

Pief Weyman/NBC

Why do you think he wanted Wolf to know that now, at this point, who he really is?

Charlie’s conscious of not leading patients to the same painful experience that my mom went through, and the family that goes along with those patients. He’s seeing it live happen in action. Jorge Torres, he’s seeing the pain that can come from a mother watching her son go through treatment that Charlie doesn’t think is necessary. So it’s really about making sure that the patients that he’s seeing aren’t going through the same pain.

So, he feels like, “If not now, when?”

Yeah. And, “Why is someone else going to have to live through this pain that I’ve already lived through?” and “I want to stop.” I mean, I feel like everyone in some little type of way, unless you’re the Joker, you want to alleviate some kind of pain and suffering in the world, and this is Charlie’s way of doing that.

Charlie doesn’t accept Wolf’s apology when he tells him he’s sorry. He says, “Let’s see who breaks first.” That’s chilling. What does he want to see in Wolf? Is it what we’re seeing in the flashforwards? Is it something else? Is he kind of not sure? Did he set out with a specific goal in mind?

It’s a loose goal. It’s definitely a takedown stance. He does not want to see him practicing medicine the way that he has been, and if that means his medical license is revoked, his medical license is revoked. If that means he changes his ways, he changes his ways. I don’t think Charlie has a good idea of what it exactly means. He just knows he’s coming in to change things.

Charlie gives Wolf what he says is his dad’s address, leading to Wolf breaking into that place, wherever it is. What does Charlie want to accomplish there? Just making Wolf think his dad was close and didn’t want to see him? Also, it’s like, what would be more cruel: that it’s actually Noah’s address or for him to make Wolf think it is?

Yeah, right. I mean, the mental game there is tough, I mean — I can’t ask the question back to you. I think it’s incredibly demonic to give an address that’s not actually his address and to say that it is. I mean, going on a wild goose chase for something not there is sadistic, to say the least. So I’d like to say that that is his address because if not, we take a whole different direction with Charlie. We take the direction of a literal psychopath and not in the, “He’s crazy. Oh my God, he’s crazy.” I mean in the literal sense of the word. So I would like to keep him as much as he is going for revenge, and he has a vendetta. He’s not psychopathic. So I like to think that is actually his dad’s address.

But then you also never know if it’s still the address, if it was once his address, if he’s there…

If he’s there, if he’s not, and who knows.

Talk about filming that scene with Zachary, going head-to-head. It was so good.

I mean, not only that scene, but the scene in the end of [Episode] 8. When I imagined this role doing the auditions and going through the callbacks and whatnot, I mean, this is what you’re preparing for. So just like any good game or any good match, you know what you’re headed for, and you’re kind of preparing all along the way for that. So when the day comes, you’re nervous, you’re excited, you’re just above all prepared so that you can do whatever it is that they’re asking you to do in the moment. And also, I mean, the way that showrunners run the show is fantastic. I mean, I got to actually speak with the writers, with Michael, with DeMane [Davis, director] about the direction we wanted to take the scene and the physicality of it, the movement, all of it. And so by the time we got there, everyone was just kind of buzzing, and then you just throw everything against the wind and into the wind and let it go. So it was one of my more fun days on set, for sure.

That’s not the only mystery at the end of this episode. There’s the matter of Michelle in that car accident on the way to the gala, and that kind of feels like it’s going to be an all-hands-on-deck situation where everyone has to put any conflicts aside when the show returns. What can you preview about that? Is that what we’re going to see?

Exactly that. The show does a great job of handling conflict and showing compassion through conflict, and there’s an incredible amount of compassion saying, “Hey, I know things aren’t good between us right now, but we really have to be there for something bigger than what’s going on between us.” And as much as they have their personal vendettas, they are in the field of care, and they’re going to care for the people, for anyone, but especially people they care about to begin with, they’re going to put aside their differences.

There are all these mysteries about these flashforwards. We’ve seen Charlie in a couple of them. Should we be wondering if there’s any sort of connection between Charlie and Amelia?

I’m going to leave that one up for time. We will see, I don’t even know if they’re on the same wavelength, if they have the same goal. I know that they definitely have some shared interests. We’ll see if they collaborate or corroborate.

When you were filming the flashforwards we’ve seen so far with Charlie, how much did you know about what’s going on there? Was it just what you needed to know for that scene?

Just what I needed to know for the scene and guessing all the ways in which it could go, and then saying, “OK, we did a take in this direction. Let’s go 150% in that direction. Let’s do a take in this direction.” Because that’s the beauty of writing as we’re going, and I don’t know where we’re headed, so you give them options.

Who Was Celeste Rivas? About the Teen Found Dead in d4vd’s Tesla – Hollywood Life

In September 2025, the decomposed body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez was found in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to singer d4vd (real name David Anthony Burke). The vehicle was subsequently impounded in a Hollywood Hills tow lot after neighbors reported a foul odor. Authorities identified the remains two days later as Rivas Hernandez. The late teenager had been missing since 2024.

Since then, the case has escalated. d4vd’s homes were searched under warrant, he canceled U.S. tour dates, and brands have pulled promotional content amid mounting scrutiny. The medical examiner has not yet determined a cause of death, but TMZ reported that authorities are now viewing her death as a homicide. Sources also told the outlet in November 2025 that investigators “are looking at d4vd as a suspect.”

Below, we’ve compiled everything we know so far about Rivas and d4vd’s alleged connection to the Los Angeles Police Department’s investigation.

Who Was Celeste Rivas?

Rivas Hernandez was a 15-year-old from Lake Elsinore, California, who had been reported missing in 2024 when she was just 13. Her remains were discovered on September 8, 2025, in the impounded Tesla registered to singer d4vd.

At first, authorities struggled to determine her age and ethnicity due to the condition of the body, but she was later identified through records and family confirmation.

How Long Was Celeste Rivas Missing?

Rivas went missing in April 2024. Since then, she hadn’t been seen until her remains were discovered in the trunk of d4vd’s car.

The body found in a towed Tesla that was registered to the singer D4vd has been identified as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, according to officials. https://t.co/yAPc3p8k3F pic.twitter.com/9tSsMTZJO2

How Did Celeste Rivas Die? What We Know About Her Death

The cause of Rivas Hernandez’s death is still unknown. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has listed her cause of death as “deferred,” noting that the autopsy and toxicology results are not yet complete.

Authorities believe her body may have been in the Tesla for several weeks before it was discovered, which has made determining the circumstances of her death more difficult. Detectives from the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division are leading the investigation and recently served a search warrant at a Hollywood Hills home linked to d4vd, where they seized electronics and computers for review. Despite the widespread speculation surrounding the case, police have not named any suspects, and d4vd has not been officially classified as a person of interest.

How & Where Celeste Rivas Was Found

Rivas was found dead in the trunk of d4vd’s Tesla on September 8, 2025. The vehicle had been taken to a tow yard in L.A. The Tesla had been abandoned locally for five days, according to several outlets, though it’s still unclear where exactly the car was left before it was towed.

Police were called to check the car after a foul odor was detected.

How Celeste Rivas Is Connected to d4vd

As of now, there is no definitive connection between Rivas’ death and d4vd. Multiple outlets reported that the music artist was cooperating with authorities.

Rivas and d4vd had identical tattoos on their right index fingers that read, “Shhh,” according to multiple outlets. Additionally, Rivas’ mother told TMZ that her late daughter had a boyfriend named David before she disappeared in 2024. As previously mentioned, d4vd’s real name is David.

Todd Snider, Alt-Country’s Wandering Troubadour, Dead at 59

by jummy84 November 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Todd Snider, a driving force of the alt-country scene over the last two-plus decades, has died at the age of 59.

The news of his passing was confirmed by Snider’s label, Aimless Records, which wrote a lengthy post in honor of their “Vice President of the Abrupt Change Dept.” The post when on to say that Snider was someone “who could almost always find the humor in this crazy ride on Planet Earth,” and that he created “rhyme and meter that immediately felt like an old friend or a favorite blanket.”

A cause of death was not immediately shared. However, prior to his passing, Snider had been receiving extensive treatment for walking pneumonia that had only recently been diagnosed.

Todd Daniel Snider was born on October 11th, 1966 in Portland, Oregon. By the mid-80s, he’d relocated to the San Antonio, Texas region, where he met his future mentor in songwriting legend Kent Finlay (who also founded the venerated Cheatham Street Warehouse venue). For years, Snider packed clubs across both San Marcos and Austin, Texas, delighting fans with his earnest, heartfelt approach to country and folk.

By the early ’90s, Snider had relocated to Memphis and signed a deal with Capital Records. Though that agreement fizzled out before any music was released, he did briefly join Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band — a stint that led to a separate deal with Buffett’s own Margaritaville Records. That period produced Snider’s earliest and most foundational work, including his 1994 debut, Songs for the Daily Planet (which yielded a modest Billboard hit with “Talkin’ Seattle Grunge Rock Blues”), as well as 1996’s Step Right Up.

By the time he released 1998’s Viva Satellite, Snider embarked on something of a career pivot, stepping away from Margaritaville and sharpening his own distinctive musical voice. That shift led to a deal with John Prine’s Oh Boy Records, where Snider further made a name for himself with records like 2000’s Happy To Be Here and 2002’s New Connection. But it was 2004’s East Nashville Skyline where Snider where Snider truly came into his own, a record now regarded as a cornerstone of 21st-century alt-country.

Snider continued to perform and release records over the next several years, eventually leading to the launch of Aimless Records in 2008 to manage this steady stream of music. Though he would work with Aimless for the rest of his career, he partnered with Yep Roc for 2009’s The Excitement Plan. The album was warmly received and climbed to No. 6 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart. Meanwhile, Aimless’ first release, 2008’s Peace Queer EP, also made an impact, earning strong placement on Billboard’s Americana charts.

Into the 2010s, Snider maintained his schedule of regular performances and releases. That included 2011’s Live: The Storyteller; a pair of albums in 2012 (Agnostic Hymns & Stoner Fables followed by the tribute LP Time As We Know It: The Songs of Jerry Jeff Walker); co-founding the supergroup Hard Working Americans (alongside Widespread Panic bassist Dave Schools); 2016’s Eastside Bulldog (which was more in line with the ’50s-era rock of Snider’s alter ego, Elmo Buzz); and 2019’s Cash Cabin Sessions, Vol. 3, where Snider returned in glorious fashion to his folk roots.

Snider’s final official release was 2023’s Crank It, We’re Doomed. Even so, he remained active over the years with a variety of projects and side ventures outside of country and folk. He collaborated frequently with filmmakers Brad and Todd Barnes, resulting in two mockumentaries: 2009’s Peace Queer: The Movie and 2013’s East Nashville Tonight. He also appeared in and narrated 2014’s The First Waltz, a documentary chronicling the formation of Hard Working Americans; made several cameo appearances on Squidbillies as Lobster Freak; and published his own “quasi-memoir,” 2014’s Never Met a Story I Didn’t Like: Mostly True Tall Tales.

It’s worth noting that Snider’s death followed a stretch of troubling news. Per Rolling Stone, he’d been arrested in Utah in early November for causing a disturbance at Salt Lake City’s Holy Cross Hospital, where he was reportedly seeking treatment following a “vicious attack” on Halloween night.

Tributes and eulogies for Snider have already begun popping up online. Writer/rock critic Steven Hyden called him “one of the greats,” and an “unheralded songwriters’ songwriter.” Hyden went on to write that Snider was a guy “not only influenced by [John] Prine/[Kris] Kristofferson/Jerry Jeff but he seemed to come out of the same world.”

On a personal note, go listen to “Just Like Old Times,” which has a perfect line that sums up not only Snider’s art but his singular way of living: “Your goal was always the same as mine/You didn’t want to throw a fishing line in that old main stream.”

Todd Snider Dead At 59

by jummy84 November 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Todd Snider has died. News arrived yesterday that the Americana singer-songwriter was diagnosed with walking pneumonia, and this morning the musician’s official accounts posted that he has “departed this world.” He was 59.

Earlier this month, Snider canceled his tour in support of his latest album High And Lonesome And Then Some, citing that he was “violently assaulted” outside his hotel and needed medical treatment. Shortly after, it was reported that he was arrested upon leaving the hospital because he did not believe he should be discharged and subsequently cursed out the staff. Yesterday, Snider’s friends and family shared the following statement on his social media:

Hello friends, family, and members of the Shithouse Choir.

We have some difficult news to share. After Todd returned home to recover last week, he began having trouble breathing and was admitted to the hospital in Hendersonville, TN. We learned from his doctors that he had been quietly suffering from an undiagnosed case of walking pneumonia.

Our beloved brother’s condition has become more complicated, and he’s since been transferred for additional treatment. His care team and those closest to him are by his side and doing everything they can.

Right now we’re asking everyone who loves Todd to hold him in your thoughts in whatever way feels right to you. Say a prayer, light a candle, roll one up, send strength, or just keep him close in your heart. You’ve carried him through so much over the years, and he needs that from all of us now more than ever.

We’ll share more when there is more to tell. Thank you for surrounding him with so much love, support, and compassion.

Today, the same accounts shared the news of his passing, writing:

Aimless, Inc. Headquarters is heartbroken to share that our Founder, our Folk Hero, our Poet of the World, our Vice President of the Abrupt Change Dept., the Storyteller, our beloved Todd Daniel Snider has departed this world. Where do we find the words for the one who always had the right words, who knew how to distill everything down to its essence with words and song while delivering the most devastating, hilarious, and impactful turn of phrases? Always creating rhyme and meter that immediately felt like an old friend or a favorite blanket. Someone who could almost always find the humor in this crazy ride on Planet Earth.

He relayed so much tenderness and sensitivity through his songs, and showed many of us how to look at the world through a different lens. He got up every morning and started writing, always working towards finding his place among the songwriting giants that sat on his record shelves, those same giants who let him into their lives and took him under their wings, who he studied relentlessly. Guy Clark, John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Jerry Jeff Walker.

How do we move forward without the one who gave us countless 90 minute distractions from our impending doom? The one who always had 18 minutes to share a story. We’ll do it by carrying his stories and songs that contain messages of love, compassion, and peace with us. Today, put on one of your favorite Todd Snider records and “play it loud enough to wake up all of your neighbors or at least loud enough to always wake yourself up.” We love you Todd, sail on old friend, we’ll see you again out there on the road somewhere down the line. You will always be a force of nature.

“Like A Force of Nature”

If we never get together again
Forgive me for these fools I’ve been
See if you can remember me when
I was listening to my better angels

It’s like a force of nature
Coming over me
I can’t keep myself from moving
It’s like a force of nature

May your hope always outweigh your doubt
Until this old world finally punches you out
May you always play your music
Loud enough to wake up all of your neighbors
Or may you play at least loud enough
To always wake yourself up

Todd Daniel Snider
10/11/66-11/14/25

Todd Snider was born in Portland, Oregan in 1966. In the ’90s, he moved to Tennessee and released his debut album Songs For The Daily Planet, which came out on Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville label and hit #23 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. He released 16 total albums, blending together folk, blues, rock, alt country, and funk. Despite having deals with majors like Capitol Records and MCA Nashville, he remained a DIY icon throughout his career.

Emmerdale’s Sally Dexter on “very special” return as dead Faith Dingle

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

**Warning: This article contains spoilers for tonight’s (12th November) Emmerdale episode.**

Sally Dexter has reprised her Faith Dingle role in Emmerdale – despite the character being killed off following a terminal breast cancer diagnosis over three years ago.

It was something that both viewers and Dexter didn’t see coming, though a special standalone episode exploring recent returnee Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) time off screen was able to facilitate it.

“They’ve thrown me in prison with Robert,” Dexter explained.

“It’s a flashback episode and it’s delightful to be back doing it. Well first of all I thought, ‘How are they going to get me back?’

“I’m dead! I’ve been dead I think it’s about two years, yeah, so I had no idea what was coming.”

Faith appeared in flashback scenes.

In the instalment that aired tonight on ITV, viewers saw Faith visit Robert in prison, urging him to follow his heart and start an appeal process against his murder charge so that he could reunite with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

Of course, as we know, Robert was only successful earlier in the year, and had to tell a major fib to prison hubby Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) about why he was getting early release.

Thinking on his feet, he told Kev that sister Vic (Isabel Hodgin) had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and he needed to get home to support her. At the end of today’s episode, a bemused facial expression from Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) confirmed to Kev that his beloved Suggers had been lying.

But as for Faith, is this the last we’ve seen of her?

“It’s been really enjoyable,” she explains.

“It’s lovely coming back. It’s a bit like… I don’t know, coming back to a school that you went to, like you go back to your old school or an old house that you used to live in. It feels very, very homely.

“They’re just such a lovely bunch of people here, all of them, crew and cast included.

“I have been practising my Australian accent, in case they decide that a cousin suddenly appears called Hope. And I’d put in for a blonde wig if they did.”

She also took time to reflect on her 2023 exit, and Faith’s dying days that struck a chord with fans.

“People really seem to plug into it. And I don’t blame them. It was beautifully written, and I thought Jeff [Hordley] was particularly spectacular… as he always is.

Cain and Faith Dingle look serious in Emmerdale

Sally heaped praise on her former co-star Jeff Hordley. ITV

“Damn him! No, he’s wonderful.”

The actress, who has also appeared in Poldark, Holby City and early ’00s soap Night and Day, went on to explain that her Faith role has a very personal connection.

“I’ve always said my mum was very much the person that I based her on, and unfortunately she died last year, so actually, coming back and doing her again is lovely.

“Such a joyous thing to do and I’m very grateful.

“If you haven’t seen tonight’s episode, please go and watch it. It’s very special, and to play Faith again is very, very special to me.”

Dharmendra Isn’t Dead, But Journalism Might Be: The Curious Case Of Media Hoaxes

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Last week’s false reports about veteran actor Dharmendra’s death once again exposed the rot within India’s digital news ecosystem. The news spread like wildfire, amplified by dozens of unverified posts, fan tributes and misleading headlines. Within hours, the rumour had taken a life of its own, forcing the actor’s family to step in and stop the chaos.

It was Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife and fellow actor, who finally broke the silence. Condemning the fake news, she said that such fabrications were “unforgivable” and appealed to people not to spread unverified information. Her statement restored some calm but also reignited a larger conversation on how digital-age journalism has turned into a race where verification often comes second to virality.

The incident became a case study of how the need to be first can often come at the cost of being right. News portals, influencers and even some entertainment reporters hastily picked up the story without official confirmation. Within minutes, the rumour turned into an “obituary,” and the audience, conditioned by social media’s urgency, responded emotionally before reason could intervene. By the time fact-checkers debunked it, the false news had already reached millions.

This wasn’t the first time such misinformation shook the industry. Over the years, several actors have fallen prey to premature obituaries. In 2016, similar hoaxes targeted Dilip Kumar, whose health updates often became clickbait. In 2022, Lata Mangeshkar’s family had to issue clarifications multiple times before her actual demise, as rumours of her “critical condition” flooded timelines. Even icons such as Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth have faced such baseless reports.

Each instance chips away at public trust in the media. The entertainment beat, once defined by exclusive interviews and thoughtful critiques, has increasingly become a realm where “breaking news” thrives on speed, not accuracy. Journalists, particularly in online platforms, are now caught in a system that rewards immediacy over integrity. As a result, a single unverified tweet can snowball into nationwide panic within minutes.

For public figures like Dharmendra, the emotional toll is immense. Beyond the personal distress caused to their families, such fake news also disrupts their relationship with the public. Actors who once relied on the media to convey genuine updates now hesitate to engage, fearing misrepresentation or sensationalism. This breakdown of trust harms both sides, the stars, who become victims of rumours and the audiences, who grow increasingly cynical of everything they read.

In Hema Malini’s words, calling the situation “unforgivable” was a reflection of frustration with a news culture that seems to have lost its ethical compass. Her statement reminded both journalists and readers that death, especially, is not a subject for speculation or online engagement. When rumours of such magnitude circulate unchecked, they do more than misinform, they desensitise people to the value of truth and empathy.

The “minute-by-minute” style of modern journalism has turned every update into a potential scoop. But this speed-based reporting has blurred the line between news and noise. What once required confirmation from official sources now depends on trending keywords and viral posts. In the process, even established outlets risk their credibility by amplifying falsehoods under the guise of urgency.

The curious case of Dharmendra’s fake death is therefore not just about one actor, it’s a reflection of how newsrooms have evolved in the digital era. The audience too plays a role, often forwarding or reposting stories without pausing to verify them. This collective negligence has created an ecosystem where misinformation thrives and outrage becomes a substitute for truth.

In the end, Hema Malini’s firm response stood in stark contrast to the chaos that surrounded the incident. Her words served as a reminder that in the pursuit of “being first,” journalism has forgotten the dignity of being right. For an actor like Dharmendra, who has entertained generations, the least the media owes him, and others like him, is the courtesy of truth.

Tampa Driver Leaves Four Dead After Fatal Crash

by jummy84 November 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Tampa’s nightlife was shattered in the early hours of Saturday morning after a devastating crash left four people dead and more than a dozen others injured. The scene unfolded in the city’s historic Ybor City district — a place usually buzzing with music, laughter, and late-night crowds. But this time, the flashing lights belonged to emergency vehicles, not the clubs. And at the center of it all? 22-year-old Silas Sampson, a name now tied to one of the city’s most heartbreaking nights in recent memory.

High-Speed Chase Ends In Tampa Tragedy

According to police, the chaos began when officers spotted a silver sedan speeding recklessly on a freeway just after midnight. The car, allegedly driven by Silas Sampson, had been seen street racing in another neighborhood moments earlier. When law enforcement attempted a precision maneuver to stop the vehicle — known as a PIT — the driver sped away, setting off a high-speed pursuit that led straight into Tampa’s beloved Ybor City.

Night Of Fun Turns Into Unthinkable Horror

Moments later, tragedy struck. Witnesses say the car barreled into a crowded bar area, plowing through more than a dozen people enjoying a night out. Three victims died instantly, and a fourth passed away after being rushed to the hospital. Eleven others were left injured, with at least one person is reportedly in critical condition. Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw called the incident a “senseless tragedy,” expressing deep sympathy for the victims and their families.

“Just came here to have a nice cigar and relax a little bit with some friends and was on my way home. Got a little hungry, wanted to get a slice of pizza — went over to New York, New York. After I did it, turned around, and here comes the car,” Howard Hopkins, a witness, revealed. “Jumps the curb, hits the corner of the building, then comes into Bradley’s patio and just runs right through people… tables went everywhere, chairs went everywhere, bodies went everywhere — it was pretty bad.”

Community Mourns As Sampson Faces Serious Charges

Silas Sampson was taken into custody and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. Court records reveal he faces multiple first-degree felony charges — including four counts of vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated fleeing or eluding with serious bodily injury or death. As of now, no attorney has been listed for him.

The community is left reeling, with many in disbelief that a night meant for fun and celebration could turn into such horror. Flowers and candles now line the sidewalks where laughter once filled the air, as Tampa mourns the lives lost — and grapples with the actions of one man whose decisions changed everything in a matter of seconds.

“This is the brain on cinema!” Shudder has revealed the official US trailer for a wild and, avant garde film from France titled Reflection in a Dead Diamond, the latest from filmmaking duo Hélène Cattet & Bruno Forzani. It’s finally out to watch in the US soon – streaming on Shudder starting in December after a short theatrical run this fall. When the mysterious woman in the room next door disappears, a debonair 70-year-old ex-spy living in a luxury hotel is confronted by the demons & darlings of a lurid past in which moviemaking, memories and madness collide. Filmed on the Côte d’Azur in France, a retired spy suspects his former adversaries have resurfaced when his intriguing neighbor vanishes. It’s a peculiar, twisted, heady film featuring all kinds of things going on – mysterious women clad in all black leather, diamond thieves, lots of beautiful shots of the Mediterranean, a woman brandishing a wicked sword. Starring Fabio Testi, Yannick Renier, Koen De Bouw, Maria de Medeiros, & Thi Mai. Reviews explain that it’s not about making any sense of this kooky story, it’s “an homage to and a deconstruction of genre, layering its self-reflexive and meta-textual dimensions to examine the fluidity of identity, memory, and sanity.” So have fun.

Here’s the official US trailer for Cattet & Forzani’s film Reflection in a Dead Diamond, from YouTube:

Original synopsis via Berlinale: “John is 70 years old and lives in solitary luxury in a grand hotel on the Côte d’Azur. He becomes intrigued by the woman in the room next door who reminds him of his wild years on the Riviera in the 1960s, back when he was a debonair international spy in a world brimming with peril and promise. But when the woman mysteriously disappears, John is beset by flashbacks – or perhaps fantasies – of his glamorous and grotesque past, and the alluring women and dastardly villains who lived and died there. With imagery that pays affectionate homage to the 1960s Eurospy genre and is tinged with playful gore, John’s reality becomes fragmented as he seeks to unravel the puzzle of his past. Memory, madness and moviemaking become increasingly difficult to separate. Are his old enemies back to wreak havoc on his idyllic life? Are there yet more conspiracies and treacheries waiting to be unmasked? Or has he simply been bewitched by the beautiful and dangerous lure of escapist cinema itself?” What a question…

Reflection in a Dead Diamond, originally known as Reflet dans un diamant mort in French, is written and directed by the French artists / indie filmmaking duo Hélène Cattet & Bruno Forzani, both directors of the films Amer, The Strange Color of Your Body’s Tears, and Let the Corpses Tan previously, plus lots of short films and other projects. Produced by Pierre Foulon. This recently premiered at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival earlier this year playing in the Main Competition there. And it already opened in theaters in France during the summer. Shudder debuts the Reflection in a Dead Diamond film streaming on Shudder starting on December 5th, 2025 – along with a run in limited US theaters on November 21st this fall. Intrigued?

Emmerdale airs huge twist as character ‘returns back from the dead’

This article contains references to child sexual exploitation that some readers may find distressing.

An Emmerdale character who seemingly died last week is actually very much alive.

As viewers of the ITV soap have witnessed, April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) and her boyfriend Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) have been groomed into a life of drug and sex trafficking by twisted Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) and Ray Walters (Joe Absolom).

They planned to flee the village and start afresh, but were soon caught on the outskirts of Leeds and ordered to return home.

Celia sent April to meet another client. ITV

With their ‘debt’ towards the pair worsening, April was told that another client had been booked for her to sleep with, and this time she had no option but to go through with it.

The youngster headed to a house in Hotten, where client Callum (Max Lohan) reminded her that although the door was open and she could leave at any time, he had booked her services for the entire evening and he’d have to alert Celia to the matter.

As he began to make his advances, a fearful Amelia whacked him around the head with a vodka bottle – apparently to his death.

With nobody she could turn to for help, she was forced to admit all to her groomers. Celia agreed to cover the tracks so that they wouldn’t be implicated, and Ray headed off to deal with the grizzly crime scene.

Celia warned April that should she cause anymore trouble for their scheme, she’d play ‘Burn, Stab, Drown’ with grandad Bob (Tony Audenshaw), dad Marlon (Mark Charnock) and Dylan.

In tonight’s episode, the teen sat alone in the village, knowing it was only a matter of time before Ray gave her another job.

Sure enough, he soon pulled up and told her that he was needing drug dealers in Newcastle, and April saw this as an opportunity to escape his clutches for a while.

After telling Marlon that she was staying with a friend’s sister at Newcastle Uni, she said her goodbyes to brother Leo and prepared to go.
On the outskirts of the village, Ray was having a secret meeting with none other than Callum, the man she supposedly killed.
Will April find out the truth?
