A Fatal Trip to a Remote Island – Justin Lin’s ‘Last Days’ Official Trailer

“All they want is to be who they are, yet the world is determined go there and destroy them!” Yep! She’s right. Vertical has unveiled their official trailer for a movie titled Last Days, the first non-Fast & Furious movie directed by filmmaker Justin Lin in a while. The film premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and will be out to watch coming soon this fall. The film tells the story of John Allen Chau, an idealistic missionary wanting to make contact with the “Sentinelese“, an isolated tribe living on North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean. It’s the same story told in the doc film The Mission, which everyone is familiar with because he was killed by this island tribe at the shore. A 26-year-old missionary journeys to the remote North Sentinel Island, determined to convert an isolated tribe, while the authorities attempt to intervene before potential harm occurs. Starring Sky Yang as John Allen Chau, with Radhika Apte, Ken Leung, Naveen Andrews, Toby Wallace, and Ciara Bravo. This movie looks like it glorifies this kid way too much, when in reality, he was just a dangerous idiot who had no valid reason to go there. Oh well…

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Justin Lin’s film Last Days, direct from Vertical’s YouTube:

Last Days Poster

Last Days Poster

Based on a true story, Last Days follows John Allen Chau (Sky Yang) on a dangerous adventure across the globe to share his faith with the isolated tribe of North Sentinel Island, while a detective races to stop him before he does harm to himself or the tribe. Last Days is directed by the Taiwanese-American filmmaker Justin Lin, director of the films Shopping for Fangs, Better Luck Tomorrow, Annapolis, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Finishing the Game, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, Star Trek Beyond, and F9: The Fast Saga previously. The screenplay is written by Ben Ripley. Based on the true story of John Allen Chau; inspired by the article “The Last Days of John Allen Chau” written by Alex Perry. It’s produced by Salvador Gatdula, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Justin Lin, Eric Ian Robinson, Andrew Schneider, and Clayton Townsend. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Vertical will debut Lin’s Last Days film in select US theaters + on VOD starting October 24th, 2025 this fall. Look any good?

10 days after Liberal says Kneecap barred from Canada, band has ‘no notice’

by jummy84 September 30, 2025

Controversial Irish hip-hop group Kneecap has still not received official notice from the Canadian government about whether they are barred from entering Canada, the band’s manager said Monday, 10 days after their apparent entry ban was announced.

“No notice on anything,” band manager Daniel Lambert told Global News in an email, “just Vince’s social media video.”

Lambert was referring to Liberal MP Vince Gasparro, the parliamentary secretary for combating crime, who posted a video to his social media on Sept. 19 saying the government has deemed Kneecap’s members ineligible to enter Canada.

“On behalf of the Government of Canada I am announcing that on the advice of our officials, we have deemed the group Kneecap ineligible to enter our country,” Gasparro said in the post.

Kneecap, which has been outspoken in its support of the Palestinian people and opposition to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, was scheduled to perform next month in Toronto and Vancouver.

Gasparro said in the video the group has endorsed political violence and terrorism, and noted one member was facing “terrorism-related charges” in the United Kingdom.

A British judge on Friday dismissed the case against Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh —also known by his stage name Mo Chara, which means “my friend” in Irish — who had been charged after waving a flag of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah during a London concert last year.

Hezbollah is a listed terrorist organization in both the U.K. and Canada.

Gasparro declined to answer questions from reporters Friday on whether Kneecap would be allowed into Canada now that the British case has been dropped.

“Look, any statement I’ve made, there’s nothing more for me to add in terms of my video,” he said. “Any further comments I’m going to leave to the officials at immigration, and they’ll manage that accordingly.”

“It’s better for me to leave it to our professional public service to manage any rollout from there, but I appreciate the questions,” Gasparro added after he was pressed.

He said his video was made and released “based on the information that was available.”

In a statement Monday, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) said it cannot comment on Kneecap’s specific case due to privacy reasons and did not confirm whether a formal entry ban was put in place, or if one remains.

Irish citizens do not require a visa to visit Canada but do require an electronic travel authorization (eTA), which is applied for online and is needed when arriving by air.

In a social media message responding to Gasparro’s video, Kneecap said its members had already been issued valid electronic travel authorizations.

“Each case is assessed individually,” the IRCC spokesperson said. “Entry to Canada may be refused for a number of reasons, including concerns related to security, human or international rights violations, or criminal activity.”

Global News was included on an email chain between bureaucrats and a spokesperson for Immigration Minister Lena Diab, who instructed the department’s media relations team to add a line to its “messaging for Kneecap moving forward,” noting that “applicants are informed of their visa status through the email provided on their applications.”

The statement said anyone whose entry visa applications have been denied “can reapply for an eTA once they have addressed the reason(s) leading to the refusal of their application.”

The minister’s office declined to comment separately from the department’s statement.

A spokesperson for Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree’s office declined to comment Monday when asked by Global News if Gasparro consulted with the minister before his announcement.

The spokesperson said the office would “defer to IRCC” on questions regarding Kneecap’s case

Global News has also reached out to the Prime Minister’s Office for comment.

The group said Gasparro’s “baseless” allegations were “wholly untrue and deeply malicious,” adding that no member of the group had ever been convicted of a crime in any country.

The group also threatened to take legal action against him.

“When we beat you in court, which we will, we will donate every cent to assist some of the thousands of child amputees in Gaza,” its statement said.

Gasparro on Friday said he’s not concerned about a possible lawsuit.

“I’ve done a lot of things in my private sector career. I have never been sued,” he said. “If they want to sue me, I look forward to it.”

In his video, Gasparro accused Kneecap of publicly supporting Hezbollah as well as Hamas, which is also a listed terrorist entity in Canada, and that “open endorsements of terrorist groups are not free speech.”

Justice Minister Sean Fraser tabled legislation the same day Gasparro released his video that would make hateful displays of certain symbols — including listed terrorist group emblems as well as the Nazi swastika — a criminal offence punishable with up to two years in prison.

Kneecap has accused critics of trying to silence the band because of its support for the Palestinian cause throughout the Israeli military’s destruction of Gaza. The band says it doesn’t support Hezbollah and Hamas, nor condone violence.

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs and Jewish advocacy organization B’nai Brith Canada, which had advocated for the ban, have praised the government for Gasparro’s announcement.

Will there be a Sakamoto Days season 2? Potential release date and more

Will there be a Sakamoto Days season 2? Potential release date and more

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Despite that, the airing of season 1’s finale – episode #22, Each One’s Mission – hasn’t been followed with tons of information about a possible Sakamoto Days season 2, or the show’s 23rd episode that would start it off.

That said, we’ve put together all of the information available right now to tell you how likely a second season of the hit anime is and when it could happen.

Will there be a Sakamoto Days season 2?

Sakamoto Days season 2 will undoubtedly pick up from the start of the JCC Infiltration Arc. Netflix

At the time of writing, a Sakamoto Days season 2 hasn’t been confirmed just yet, but a follow-up season is practically inevitable with the anime’s massive success so far; season 1 was not only enjoyed by critics, but also achieved 24 million views during the first half of the year – as revealed by Netflix in July.

Whilst not the highest-performing show on the streaming platform altogether (Naruto scored 45 million views), that’s still a massive number for a brand new anime franchise.

With season 1 finishing after its final episode on 22nd September 2025, we likely won’t see a season 2 announcement for Sakamoto Days for some time; this is usually the case with anime – especially with studios like Sakamoto Days’ TMS Entertainment.

Nevertheless, with the success of the anime and the massive amount of chapters in the anime still to cover, we’re hopeful that plans for Sakamoto Days’ second season are being spoken about behind the scenes.

When could a potential Sakamoto Days season 2 release date be?

With the workload of its anime studio in mind, we estimate that Sakamoto Days could come back for season 2 (starting with episode 23) with a possible release date window of early 2027 for its first cour, followed by summer 2027 for its second cour.

Normally, we’d expect a launch of early to mid-2026. However, the studio behind Sakamoto Days, TMS Entertainment, is made up of an ambitious team that takes on multiple anime at the same time – Rent-a-Girlfriend, Dr. Stone, Honey Lemon Soda, etc – jumping between seasons for each season as it comes.

As a result, we believe Sakamoto Days’ second season could get pushed back as a result, as follow-up seasons of TMS’s other shows have taken at least a year to produce.

On the other hand, we’re aware of Netflix’s tendency to prioritise shows that are a definite success, marking the potential for TMS Entertainment to fast-track the next part of Sakamoto Days.

As soon as we hear any update saying we might see episode 23 of Sakamoto Days sooner, we’ll update this guide accordingly.

Didn’t Sakamoto Days season 2 already air?

Rather than season 2 of Sakamo Days, the batch of episodes we just saw finish in September 2025 was the second half of season 1 — known as a second cour.

In anime, cours are blocks of 10-14 episodes, either making up a series’ whole season, or two parts equalling 20 to 26 episodes. Whilst sometimes having a break in-between, or back-to-back with new openings and endings (like Jujutsu Kaisen season 1), both cours still count as a single anime season.

Sakamoto Days season 1 was a prime example of this: season 1’s episodes 1 to 11, airing between January and March 2025, made up Part 1; episodes 12 to 22, dropping between July and September 2025, made up the second cour to become Part 2.

With the many chapters of manga still to cover, we’d expect Sakamoto Days season 2 to follow the same pattern if it is renewed.

Where to pick up the Sakamoto Days manga after season 1

Taro Sakamoto and Shin Asakura fighting Mad Horiguchi in Sakamoto Days

Sakamoto Days season 2 would have more wild fights, like that against Mad Horiguchi in season 1. Netflix

With the wrapping up of season 1 with episode 22, the Sakamoto Days anime covers up to chapter 73 of the manga – meaning you should start reading chapter 74 of the manga and onwards if you want to start reading ahead.

There may be some slight crossover with what was covered in episode 22 and after chapter 73, but because Sakamoto Days season 1 essentially ended with kicking off with the Japan Clear Creation arc, it’s better to start from this point for consistency and to make sure you don’t miss anything.

Sakamoto Days streams exclusively on Netflix in the UK, US, and other territories worldwide. At the time of writing, Sakamoto Days is not on Crunchyroll or any other alternative anime streaming services.

₹5 crore three days before release; Rishab Shetty film outpaces OG, War 2, KGF”>

Updated on: Sept 29, 2025 04:29 pm IST

Kantara Chapter 1 advance booking is going at a breakneck pace, indicating a bumper opening for the Rishab Shetty-starrer prequel.

Rishab Shetty’s heavily anticipated film, Kantara Chapter 1, is releasing in theatres this Thursday (October 2) on the occasion of Dussehra. The film is a prequel to Kantara, the 2021 blockbuster, and hence, carries a lot of buzz. The original film was a huge hit not just in Karnataka, but in north India as well. And the prequel seems to be going even bigger.

Rishab Shetty plays the lead in and directs Kantara Chapter 1, a prequel to the 2022 film Kantara.

Kantara Chapter 1 advance booking

The advance booking for Kantara Chapter 1 opened on Sunday, four days before the film’s release. In a little over 24 hours, the pre-sales for day 1 have touched ₹5.7 crore gross, selling 1.7 lakh tickets already. This breakneck pace of ticket sales has already ensured that Kantara Chapter 1 will have a bigger opening than Kantara, which opened at just ₹2 crore in India back in 2022.

It’s still three days to go for the release of Kantara: Chapter 1, and the film is already outpacing the advance booking collections of recent big releases like Pawan Kalyan’s OG and Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2. Neither of these films had touched ₹5 crore in advance bookings three days before the release. Kantara: Chapter 1 is also outperforming Yash’s KGF: Chapter 1 in pre-sales. The 2019 film was the highest-grossing Kannada film for three years, and the first from the language to cross ₹250 crore worldwide gross.

Kantara Chapter 1 should look to not just surpass but comfortably beat the ₹400-crore gross of the first Kantara, given its hype and scale. And it has taken a good start in that direction with healthy advance bookings. So far, the bulk of the sales have been in Kannada, but as more screens open up in the Hindi belt over Monday and Tuesday, the numbers should pick up. As of now, Kantara Chapter 1 has earned ₹36 lakh in advance bookings in Hindi, and just over ₹5 lakh in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam combined. The rest of the collections have come in the original Kannada version.

All about Kantara Chapter 1

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 explores the origins of the mythology and story told in Kantara. Set ten centuries before the original film, Chapter 1 stars Rishab Shetty, but in a different role this time. Joining him in the cast are Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah. The film releases across India on 2 October.

Deepika Padukone shot for 20 days before Kalki 2898 AD sequel exit, demanded hike thinking she is irreplaceable: Report

by jummy84 September 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Actor Deepika Padukone recently exited Kalki 2898 AD after production house Vyjayanthi Movies stated they were “unable to find a partnership” with her. Now, as per News18, Deepika had already filmed nearly 20 days of the sequel before she left the franchise. Reportedly, she had demanded a pay hike for part two of the film as she was sure “that she is irreplaceable.”

Deepika Padukone played a pregnant woman in Kalki 2898 AD.

Deepika Padukone thought she was ‘irreplaceable’

A source close to the production told the portal, “Deepika Padukone’s demand for a pay hike — significantly higher than 25% — stemmed from her conviction that she is irreplaceable. The real turning point lay in how her management approached the negotiations.”

Deepika shot for Kalki 2898 AD sequel for almost 20 days

It also added why the “claim of a date clash holds no merit.” “Deepika was fully aware of the sequel and the strong, performance-driven role created for her. In fact, she had already filmed nearly 20 days of Part 2 while shooting Part 1 — something director Nag Ashwin himself confirmed in several media interactions. Her schedule for the next phase was always meant to be decided mutually, so the claim of a date clash holds no merit,” as per the source.

What did Kalki 2898 AD team say about ousting Deepika from film

Vyjayanthi Movies announced Deepika’s exit from the film in a statement on X. “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. A film like Kalki 2898 AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works,” the statement read.

Recently, a source told NDTV, “Deepika Padukone wanted a 25 per cent increase in her acting fee compared to what she earned for the first part of the film. Additionally, she insisted on limiting her daily shooting schedule to a 7-hour shift. The producers offered her the convenience of a luxury vanity for rest periods in exchange for longer working hours, but she declined. She wanted 5-star stays for her 25-person crew. There were just too many demands.”

About Kalki 2898 AD

Deepika worked on the 2024 sci-fi epic by Nag Ashwin. The star-studded cast also included Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Disha Patani in prominent roles. With over-the-top graphics and an extensive overseas release, the film grossed approximately ₹1100 crore at the box office worldwide.

Deepika’s next film

Deepika will work with Allu Arjun for Atlee’s upcoming film AA22xA6. This will mark her first project with Allu Arjun and her second with Atlee. She also has King with Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan, among others. The filming of King, directed by Siddharth Anand, is currently going on.

bitchy | King Charles & Camilla will spend two days in Vatican City & meet Pope Bob

by jummy84 September 23, 2025
written by jummy84

This past April, King Charles and Queen Camilla visited Italy. The backstory on the royal tour is fascinating – at the end of 2023, Kensington Palace teased a potential royal tour of Italy for the Prince and Princess of Wales. Then Kate’s medical situation and disappearance happened, and the Italian trip was no longer on the table. Suddenly, Charles and Camilla were the ones planning a visit to Rome. They ended up scheduling it around their wedding anniversary, so it felt less like a royal tour and more like an Italian vacation with some public events. The original plan also involved a stop in Vatican City to meet with Pope Francis. Franny got very ill, so the Vatican canceled on C&C. But C&C wouldn’t take no for an answer – they ended up visiting Francis anyway and getting a brief photo-op. They also got the Vatican to issue a statement about how Franny wished them well on their anniversary. The whole thing was actually pretty tacky, especially given that Francis died soon after.

Well, Charles and Camilla are bizarrely undeterred. They’ve apparently rescheduled a visit to the Vatican and they have plans to meet the new pope in person. Pope Leo (aka Pope Bob) has apparently agreed to all of this? Hm.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to meet with Pope Leo during an official state visit to Vatican City next month. The Sun reported over the weekend that the King and Queen will spend around two days in the holy city in October, an abbreviated trip following their official state visit to Italy earlier this year.

King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 78, were originally set to make an official visit to the Vatican in April as part of the Italy trip. However, it was postponed due to Pope Francis’ ill health at the time. Instead, the royal couple met privately with the Catholic leader on April 9.

Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, April 21, at the age of 88, following months of health struggles — which included a 38-day hospitalization, where he was treated for double pneumonia. Following Pope Francis’ death, the cardinals of the Catholic Church gathered for the papal conclave, where they selected Pope Leo XIV — previously known as Cardinal Robert Prevost — as the 267th pope of the Roman Catholic Church.

While the King and Queen have yet to officially meet Pope Leo, 70, in person, the Catholic leader recently extended a meaningful gesture to the royal family. Earlier this month, the Pope sent a surprise tribute to the late Katharine, Duchess of Kent, who died on Sept. 4 at age 92. The Duchess’s funeral mass on Sept. 16, conducted by the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, was historic as the first Catholic funeral for a member of the British royal family in modern history.

[From People]

Charles does have a commitment to embracing all people of faith, not just Anglicans. But his obsession with popes is weird, right? He’s all about popes. Why is it so important for him to get facetime with Pope Bob? Most of Europe’s Catholic royals have already met with Pope Bob, or they made a point of attending one of his first Masses. I guess Charles didn’t want to be left out. (Incidentally, I still haven’t completely absorbed the fact that the new pope is a guy named Bob from Chicago.)

Heavy periods lasting over 8 days? Study suggests it may be linked to this

If you have seen any variation in your period’s pattern, one of the likely causes may actually surprise you. Turns out, the effects can last years!

Long COVID includes a set of symptoms that emerge after COVID-19 infection. It can last months or even years. Sometimes, the effects may be long-term, potentially altering bodily functions. A recent study published in Nature Communications, released on September 16, 2025, shed light on how long COVID impacts women’s menstrual health.

Abnormal uterine bleeding

The latest study highlighted that women with long COVID were more likely to experience much heavier bleeding, longer periods, and even bleeding between cycles. According to the findings, long COVID patients are twice as likely to have their periods extend beyond eight days compared to women who did not get COVID.

In other words, if your menstrual cycle has changed over time, straying to an unusual bleeding pattern after COVID, it could be a sign of long COVID impacting hormonal balance.

Why does this happen?

The effects of COVID may linger in the body long after the infection, slowly altering bodily functions as well. It disrupts hormone levels and triggers inflammation. In women with long COVID, the uterus reacts less strongly to hormones, showing low progesterone receptor activity. The researchers suggest that this may happen due to increased androgen levels and changed endometrial inflammation. There were also signs of inflammation in the uterine lining. However, fertility is not directly affected, suggesting that the rest of the ovarian function is normal.

So, in other words, it offers an interesting perspective, acting as an extension of the understanding of long COVID’s usual symptoms, which are often restricted to fatigue, shortness of breath, and sleep problems. If your periods last over eight days, consider visiting a doctor to rule out underlying health conditions and learn how to make the cycle normal again.

The True Story Behind Fonzie’s Infamous ‘Jump the Shark’ Episode on ‘Happy Days’

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

These days, it’s common parlance for TV fans to talk about a show “jumping the shark” when it starts declining in quality, usually due to some unexpected plot point or storyline. The origins of the expression date back nearly half a century, to the Happy Days episode “Hollywood, Part 3,” which aired on September 20, 1977 — the episode in which Henry Winkler’s Arthur “The Fonz” Fonzarelli accepts a challenge to jump over a shark while waterskiing. The episode has long baffled fans — but as it turns out, one of classic TV’s oddest moments was set into motion by Winkler’s father, who insisted his son tell producers about his waterskiing skills.

For some fans, including comedian Jon Hein, that episode was the beginning of the end of Happy Days. Hein popularized the phrase “jump the shark” through his website of the same name, after recalling a college discussion with friends about when shows started going downhill, as he told Michigan Today in 2016. During that chat, Hein’s roommate said, “When Fonzie jumped the shark.”

Mariah the Scientist Performs ‘Rainy Days,’ ‘Burning Blue’ on ‘Fallon’

The singer released her fourth album, Hearts Sold Separately, in August

Mariah the Scientist stopped by The Tonight Show to perform a medley of two songs, “Rainy Days” and “Burning Blue.” Both tracks appear on the R&B singer’s most recent album, Hearts Sold Separately.

The musician offered a dramatic rendition of the songs, complete with costumes and a haze of smoke. The military aesthetic from the performance mirrored the LP’s stark artwork, which depicts a single toy soldier in front of a pink background.

Mariah the Scientist recently spoke with Rolling Stone about crafting Hearts Sold Separately, her fourth album. “The climate of the world made me want to make a whole project about love,” she said. “I feel like nobody prioritizes love. Everybody looks at love like it’s a problem. I feel like back in the day, it wasn’t like that. Everybody wanted to have a family unit and be married.”

She continued, “Now it’s like everybody is shying away from that a little bit. I just feel like there’s this long-standing war between men and women and I don’t know what that’s about. I wish it wasn’t like that, but it just is. And the more men and women I meet, I realize even though we are all human, there are huge fundamental differences that you don’t really acknowledge when you’re younger. I just feel like I’m Eve and I fucked around and bit the apple or something. Now I see everything totally different than what I thought it was. That was the catalyst of everything I wrote.”

The singer will embark on a world tour in support of the album next year. The 36-city jaunt includes a North American leg following stops in Paris, the U.K., and the Netherlands. It will begin in Paris on Jan. 12, and end in her hometown of Atlanta next April.
