Last week, in the height of the Andrew Windsor drama, the New Statesman published their latest cover story. The piece was an interesting and well-researched argument for the abolition of the British monarchy. The New Statesman suggested letting King Charles’s reign run its course, and then getting Scooter King William to basically dissolve the monarchy. I bring up that article because one of the reasons why they suggest that William will be a terrible king is because there’s a growing body of evidence that William is functionally illiterate. It’s been known for some time that William refuses to read briefing memos and he has repeatedly admitted to not enjoying reading or having a favorite author or book.

Well, funny story – Scooter King heard the “illiterate” speculation and he’s been trying to not-so-subtly prove that he can read this week in Brazil. He actually allowed photographers to capture him “reading” his speech on the way to Belem, Brazil. They also got some wider shots of William performing his big COP30 speech, aided by a Teleprompter. See!! He can read!! WATCH HIM READ HIS BIG KEEN SPEECH!

The comments on this video and others on social media reminded me so much of the backlash to William talking about his other cause, homelessness. I’ve always argued that William actually does care about homelessness, he’s just too dumb to understand that he’s not the guy to talk about it or be a vocal advocate for homeless people. He’s just too much of a f–king hypocrite, with eleven forever homes and his slumlord duchy. He gets such well-deserved backlash for all of it, and it’s the same with environmentalism. He comes across as inauthentic because he genuinely lacks authenticity in this area, even more so than homelessness.

Dr Shubham Vatsya, a gastroenterologist and hepatologist at Fortis Hospital Vasant Kunj, with over 10 years of experience, shared the best breakfast option for when you are trying to shed kilos. What is the best breakfast for weight loss?

Dr Vatsya, in a post titled, ‘Best breakfast for weight loss’, revealed a simple, fibre-rich meal that can help you feel satiated throughout the day. According to the gastroenterologist, the perfect weight-loss breakfast meal is curd with chia seeds or basil seeds. “Simple, tasty, and genuinely effective for fat loss,” he wrote. Here’s why:

  • Curd gives probiotics for a healthier gut, and seeds add fibre that keeps you full longer.
  • Your hunger levels drop, cravings decrease, and overall calorie intake decreases.

Explaining further, Dr Vatsya said, “If you have trouble with weight loss and a problem with feeling hungry, you should consume chia seeds or basil seeds with curd.”

Why should you have chia or basil seeds with curd?

He stressed that, firstly, after consuming chia or basil seeds with curd in the morning, you will notice a difference in your life from the very first meal because they provide you with probiotics.

Furthermore, highlighting how these seeds help keep one full longer, Dr Vatsya explained, “Chia seeds provide you with fibre in a very condensed form, which keeps you feeling full throughout the day.” This, in turn, leads to a decrease in your daily calorie intake.

Lastly, the gastroenterologist suggested trying this breakfast for thirty days. “You will genuinely see that you stay full for at least four hours. You might stop eating the parathas you used to have for breakfast,” he added.

As per the latest update on Saclink, Thamma collected ₹ 0.87 crore as per early estimates. This takes the total collection to ₹126.82 crore. The film had an opening of ₹24 crore when it was released on Diwali, and went on to collect ₹ 108.4 crore in its first week. In the next few days, Thamma is expected to cross the ₹ 130 crore mark in India.

Thamma is the fifth instalment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. It also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal. While it may seem like a harmless pick-me-up, depending on multiple cans just to stay awake or focused isn’t just harmful for your health – it could be your body’s way of signalling that something deeper is wrong.

Dr. Mezher reveals that energy drinks don’t provide true energy but mask tiredness by blocking adenosine.

Dr Sermed Mezher, a family medicine physician and health content creator based in England, has explained how energy drinks can trap people in a vicious cycle of dependence – where they’re used to mask deeper issues that actually need attention. In an Instagram video posted on October 4, the physician breaks down the mechanism of these beverages, explaining the real reason people become reliant on them, and warns about the dangers of overuse.

How do energy drinks work?

According to Dr Mezher, energy drinks don’t actually give you energy. He explains, “They work by either blocking you from feeling tired or potentially regulating dopamine levels. You do that by blocking a hormone called adenosine which makes you feel sleepy but also acts like a break on dopamine which we know is affected in some conditions.”

Why do you need energy drinks?

Energy drinks are used by many people for a quick boost in alertness, focus or stamina, especially when struggling with fatigue, poor concentration, or low motivation. However, according to Dr Mezher, “In some cases, this pattern can become a form of self-medication, where individuals use caffeine and stimulants in energy drinks to temporarily mask deeper issues such as insomnia, chronic stress, anxiety, or undiagnosed ADHD.”

The physician explains, “Dopamine levels can be low in the areas of the frontal lobe responsible for planning and organisation in people with ADHD. So we commonly see people self-medicating with caffeine before they even know they have a diagnosis.”

People with insomnia or poor sleep hygiene tend to rely more on energy drinks to deal with tiredness, instead of addressing the real problem. Dr Mezher also highlights, “Excessive tiredness can also be caused by a slew of other things like vitamin deficiencies such as D and B12 or potentially myalgic encephalomyelitis or depression.” He stresses that needing chemical reinforcements like energy drinks to get through the day is not normal and recommends getting checked for underlying issues.

Dangers of overuse

The physician emphasises that the short term effects of energy drinks – increased energy, sharper focus and enhanced productivity – might seem helpful but they come at a hidden cost. He explains, “Relying on energy drinks can lead to tolerance, dependence, and side effects such as palpitations, elevated blood pressure, irritability, and disrupted sleep. Over time, this can worsen the very problems people are trying to manage, creating a cycle of fatigue and overstimulation.”

According to trade website Sacnilk, Baahubali: The Epic collected an estimated ₹1.29 crore net in India on Tuesday, taking its total domestic collection to ₹27.39 crore. While these numbers are impressive for a re-release film, expectations were high for the film performing better than this. The films opened to a collection of ₹9.65 crore, along with ₹1.15 crore brought in from premieres.

Throughout the weekend, the film maintained momentum, despite a slight dip, bringing in ₹7.25 crore and ₹6.3 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. However, on Monday, Baahubali: The Epic saw a sharp decline, earning ₹1.72 crore with a 72% dip. With the film having earned ₹26.10 crore net in India and ₹42.85 crore worldwide in five days, it remains to be seen how much the film collects in the coming days.

Baahubali: The Epic is an amalgamation of Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017). It tells the story of a young man named Sivudu, also known as Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas), who learns of his father’s death, Mahendra Baahubali (also played by Prabhas), with his uncle, Bhallaladeva (Rana), taking over the throne meant for him. The film had a good opening, making ₹1.15 crore from premieres alone on Thursday and ₹9.65 crore on Friday. Through the weekend, the film made ₹7.25 crore and ₹6.3 crore.

Its opening weekend collection stood at ₹24.35 crore in India and ₹39.75 crore worldwide. While a dip is expected, given that it’s a weekday, it remains to be seen if the film sustains through the week. In Baahubali’s initial run, Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) collected ₹650 crore worldwide, while Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) made ₹1788.06 crore.

Baahubali: The Epic was released with high expectations, with the film’s conclusion even announcing an animated story, titled Baahubali: The Eternal War, mounted on a ₹120 crore budget. It remains to be seen if it makes a dent at the box office.
