Refused Announce Last-Ever Shows, Unveil Plans to Form New Band with Same Members

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Legendary hardcore band Refused have announced the final shows of their ongoing farewell tour, set to take place in their home country of Sweden. Additionally, drummer David Sandström has revealed plans for the members of Refused to form a new band.

After embarking on a a fall tour of UK and Europe in October, as well as playing three shows in South America, Refused will end their career with eight shows in Sweden, culminating with a final concert in their hometown of Umea on December 21st. Each of the gigs in Sweden will feature a different combination of opening acts, with Youth Code among them.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Sandström explained why Refused are breaking up, citing the band’s negative effect on his friendship with singer Dennis Lyxzén, while announcing plans for the new band:

“Hello, this is David speaking. A few people have insinuated that like some other bands who, in the fashion of the great Larry David, quit with bells, whistles (and blood raining from a lacerating sky) only to return within a few years as if nothing had happened, Refused would do the same. Well, we won’t, and i feel the need to elucidate.

We only broke up once and it was involuntary. Most of you might not remember but at the end of our reunion year 2012 we kept things ambigious in our final statement: “The hatchet is buried … we’re going home”, for plausible deniability, because we weren’t sure our attempt at a permanent reunion would fly. It did, but only so far. The reasons for ending the band are legion, but the two most important ones are:

1. Refused was never good for mine and Dennis’ relationship, we both have our own idea of what the band should be and how we should behave and never the twain shall meet. And we’d rather be friends than play in a popular band.

2. A new band has been born within the band and we (Mattias, Magnus, Dennis and me) want to explore that, a band with no baggage, no fans to please, limited only by our wildest musical hopes and dreams. We’re very excited about getting around to taming this new wild beast.

But before all that, we have some business to attend to. The last of the last shows are soon upon us and it’s come together better than we could have hoped for. The lineups are stacked with old friends, comrades and collaborators as well as some of the best newer bands in the heavy, punk and/or violent music spectrum.”

The post continues with details about the various opening acts, before signing off with, “This is going to be an absolute blast of a finale… Go tell it on the mountain.”

Massive Attack Announce Brazil Concert Supporting Indigenous Rights and Climate Justice

by jummy84 September 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Massive Attack will perform at the São Paulo arena Espaco Unimed, on a bill with the Sepultura side project Cavalera, on Thursday, November 13. They timed the event to coincide with the COP30 International Climate Change Summit taking place in the Brazilian city of Belém. The bands partnered with the Indigenous Peoples of the Amazon to put on the show, in support of their fight to achieve climate justice and secure immediate recognition and protection for Indigenous lands.

Representatives of Indigenous movements will appear at the event itself, a press release notes, and the two bands will also work within Brazil to support Amazonian Indigenous movements. Sepultura founders Max and Iggor Cavalera will perform the band’s Chaos AD album in full at the show.

Robert “3D” Del Naja added that he is honored to work with the brothers “in support of the extraordinary integrity and vital role of the Indigenous people of Brazil and the wider Amazon region. This is more than a passing of the mic. It’s an opportunity to listen to the knowledge, moral authority and wisdom of the Indigenous alliances and help ensure they are heard in the negotiation rooms of COP30. We’ve never needed their presence within that distorted political space as much as we do right now.”

The announcement comes with a joint statement from three Indigenous bodies: the G9, the Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon, and the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil. It reads: “We, Indigenous peoples, step onto the stage as if lighting an ancient fire in the heart of the night. Together with Massive Attack and Cavalera, we turn sound into uprising. Our voices—alive, ancestral, untamed—will cut through the air, cross every border, and unite peoples, from the Amazon to the Pacific. We are the roots that resist, the future that insists. We have never left. We are here to remind you: The Earth remembers. And through us, it demands—dismantle the machine that devours her. The answer is already here. It rises from the very ground we walk together. The Answer Is Us. All of us. And we will advance.”

Pink Floyd Announce Wish You Were Here 50th Anniversary Reissue, Share “Welcome to the Machine” Demo: Listen

by jummy84 September 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Pink Floyd are reissuing their classic 1975 album, Wish You Were Here, for its 50th anniversary. Wish You Were Here 50 is out December 12 via Sony Music Entertainment. The expanded edition will be available in 3xLP and 2xCD formats featuring alternate mixes and demos, or as a box set that also includes a fourth LP of live material recorded at Wembley Stadium and a Blu-ray that gathers three concert films from Pink Floyd’s 1975 tour and a short film by graphic designer Storm Thorgerson. Listen to “The Machine Song (Demo #2, Revisited),” a demo of “Welcome to the Machine,” below.

“In the 1970s, album covers were equally as important as the music, because the cover helped to sell the record,” Aubrey Powell, who co-founded the UK design collective Hipgnosis and designed the Wish You Were Here cover alongside Thorgerson, said in a statement. “Record stores would carry 10,000 different images in album sleeves, so what we were doing had to look different and stand out amongst the crowd. I remember turning around to Storm and saying, ‘How are we going to set a man on fire?’ Because there was no digital way of doing it in those days. He said, ‘Po, you’re just going to have to do it for real.’”

Wish You Were Here was in large part a tribute to Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd’s co-founder and original vocalist, who had left the band seven years prior due to his deteriorating mental health. Roger Waters and David Gilmour shared lead vocals on the album. Waters handled both halves of the 25-minute epic “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” while Gilmour sang “Welcome to the Machine” and “Wish You Were Here.” “Have a Cigar” was an exception: The band recruited folk songwriter Roy Harper to perform the song.

Revisit Sam Sodomsky’s Sunday Review of Wish You Were Here, and read about the album’s title track at No. 39 in “The 200 Best Songs of the 1970s.”

Mobb Deep Announce New Album Infinite, Share New Song “Against the World”: Listen

by jummy84 September 12, 2025
written by jummy84

For the first time since 2014, there will be a new Mobb Deep album: Infinite, the follow-up to The Infamous Mobb Deep, is out October 10 via Mass Appeal. Below, listen to the 15-track record’s Havoc-produced opener, “Against the World.” Scroll down for the new album’s artwork.

Infinite is the first album from Mobb Deep since the death of Prodigy in 2017. It’s also Prodigy’s second posthumous release, following 2022’s The Hegelian Dialectic 2: The Book of Heroine.

“This one feels like coming full circle,” Havoc stated in a press release. “It’s that classic Mobb energy—dark, real, unfiltered. The sound that shaped who we are but also speaks to where hip-hop is right now.”

A month after Infinite’s release, Havoc (under the Mobb Deep) banner will go on a co-headlining tour with Raekwon. He’ll be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Mobb Deep’s iconic sophomore album, 1995’s The Infamous.

Creamfields announce Calvin Harris as first headliner for 2026

by jummy84 September 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Calvin Harris has been announced as the first headliner for Creamfields 2026 – find all the details below.

Next year’s edition of the electronic music festival will take place across the August Bank Holiday Weekend, celebrating 20 years at its home in Daresbury, Cheshire.

Harris is set to top the bill on the Arc Stage on Saturday August 29. The BRIT and Grammy-award-winning DJ and producer last headlined in 2023, and has made numerous appearances at the event.

“He has delivered some of the most iconic and talked about performances in Creamfields history,” organisers wrote, “making his return for this milestone edition even more fitting.”

Creamfields 2026 is scheduled to run from Thursday August 27 until Sunday August 30. Tickets are on sale now – you can buy yours here.

The festival will “welcome 80,000 fans from across the globe for four days of groundbreaking production, a world-class line-up and the electric atmosphere that has cemented its position as the highlight of the dance music calendar”.

“With unbeatable lineups, legendary moments, and 20 years of Creamfields magic at Daresbury, Rockstar Energy presents Creamfields 2026 is set to be a celebration like no other,” organisers added.

More acts are due to be confirmed in the coming months. Check out the announcement post above.

Creamfields 2025 was headlined by Chase & Status, Swedish House Mafia and David Guetta.

Harris released his latest single, ‘Ocean’ (featuring Jessie Reyez), last Friday (September 5). The song was initially meant to be a collaboration with Miley Cyrus. However, the Scottish producer recently cited “crossed wires” as the reason for the shelved team-up. “My bad,” he said.

‘Ocean’ followed on from ‘Blessings’ (feat. Clementine Douglas) and the country-inspired ‘Smoke The Pain Away’ – the latter of which boasts vocals from Harris himself.

Over the summer, Harris posted photos of his wife Vick Hope’s placenta to announce the birth of the couple’s baby son.

Last year’s BRIT Awards saw Harris win the Dance Act prize. His 2023 hit single with Ellie Goulding, ‘Miracle’, was also nominated for Song Of The Year. The pair have since joined forces again on the track ‘Free’.

written by jummy84

Gorillaz fans, get ready to climb The Mountain.

Damon Albarn and co. are preparing to release a new album, The Mountain, on March 20th, 2026 (pre-order here). The album announcement comes with lead single, “The Happy Dictator,” featuring Sparks. Listen to it below.

The Mountain will be Gorillaz’s ninth studio effort, and their first on the band’s very own new record label, KONG. The 15-track LP boasts a vast array of guest stars, including Black Thought of The Roots, Anoushka Shankar, IDLES, Johnny Marr, Jalen Ngonda, Asha Puthli, Omar Souleyman, Yasiin Bey, Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash, and Paul Simonon of The Clash, among them.

The album will also feature posthumous contributions from the likes of  Bobby Womack, Dave Jolicoeur (aka Trugoy the Dove of De La Soul), Proof, Dennis Hopper, Mark E Smith of The Fall, and Tony Allen.

Produced by Gorillaz, James Ford, Samuel Egglenton and Remi Kabaka Jr., plus Bizarrap, The Mountain was recorded around the world, with Damon Albarn and company hitting studios in various locations in India, including Mumbai, New Delhi, Rajasthan and Varanasi, as well as London, Ashgabat, Damascus, Los Angeles, Miami and New York. The international feel is further emphasized with the new songs featuring artists performing in five languages: Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish and Yoruba.

As always, the album’s distinctive artwork was created by Jamie Hewlett, whose hand-drawn images of band members Murdoc, Noodle, Russel and 2D working on the new music in India will be available both as a book and as a collection of 12×12 prints.

According to a press release, the animated musical icons are ensconced in Mumbai on fake passports after turning their backs on pop stardom, and now “immersed in the rhythms of mystical music-making, as they navigate the mountainous terrain of this thing called life.”

“As space dust we are here forever and that’s a mighty long time,” drummer Russel Hobbs explained in a press statement. “This is a musical meditation infused with light. A journey of the soul, with beats…”

The group will celebrate the new release with an arena tour of the UK and Ireland, which kicks off on March 21st, 2026, in Manchester, England, with dates in Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Cardiff, Nottingham, Liverpool, Belfast and Dublin; plus a one-off headline show at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday June 20, 2026, with support from Sparks and Trueno. Gorillaz recently debuted The Mountain with a special “mystery show” featuring most of the album’s cavalcade of guests on the final night of their four-show residency at London’s Copper Box Arena. The band has uploaded a video of the first night of the residency, which was a full performance of their 2001 debut album.

The team behind BST in Hyde Park announce huge new ‘Roundhay Festival’ in Leeds

by jummy84 September 12, 2025
written by jummy84

A huge new music festival has been announced for Leeds’ Roundhay Park by the team behind BST Hyde Park.

Set to become a central fixture of the north of England’s cultural calendar, a press release for the new festival promised it will host some of the music world’s biggest names, with the first headliner set to be announced soon.

The legendary Roundhay Park has already got a storied history with live music, having played host to the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna, The Rolling Stones and, most recently, Ed Sheeran.

Launched in collaboration with Leeds City Council, Roundhay Festival will deliver a sizable economic boost to the local area, and will also run a midweek programme of free-to-access
activities for all ages, offering high-quality arts, culture and wellbeing activities as well as providing a platform for local talent at the park during the summer.

Councillor James Lewis, leader of Leeds City Council, said the park was a “fabulous setting” for concerts, adding that the festival would “act as a wonderful showcase” for the city.

“The park is a fabulous setting for concerts, as legendary artists like Madonna, U2 and the Rolling Stones will know from their own fondly-remembered appearances there,” he continued. “It’s also a much-loved part of the fabric of life in Leeds, so it’s fitting that this event will be doing as much as possible to support local vendors, suppliers and staff.”

“Roundhay Festival will act as a wonderful showcase for our city, raising its profile with national and international audiences while delivering an important boost to the local economy. I’m sure music fans, not just in Leeds but across the region and beyond, will agree with me when I say ‘roll on next summer’.”

Organisers AEG Presents, who also run London’s BST Hyde Park, have said they plan to bring premium festival experiences and world-class performances to Leeds.

“Everyone at AEG is thrilled to announce the launch of the Roundhay Festival in Leeds,” Jim King, the CEO of AEG Presents UK and European Festivals, said of the news.

“This landmark event gives us the opportunity to bring world-class artists and world-leading production to even more fans, while building on the park’s incredible musical legacy. Roundhay Park already holds an extraordinary place in music history, having hosted concerts from some of the biggest artists of all time and we cannot wait to add to that story.”

Roundhay Festival’s headliners, full line-ups and programmes are set to be announced soon.

Per a press release, ‘The Mountain’ finds fictional band members Murdoc Niccals, Russel Hobbs, 2D and Noodle – created by Jamie Hewlett – in India, having turned their backs on international pop stardom, and now focused on “mystical music-making”.

The four limited-capacity live shows at the Copper Box Arena in London marked Gorillaz’ 25th anniversary. The first show saw them perform their self-titled debut in full, playing ‘Double Bass’ and ‘Ghost Train’ live for the first time ever. Last week, they shared an official video of the full gig.

The third show – where they played ‘Plastic Beach’ in its entirety – also saw Gorillaz surprise audiences with ‘The Fall’ tracks ‘Phoner To Arizona’ and ‘California And The Slipping Of The Sun’ live for the first time ever during the encore.

The mini residency came as part of the band’s ‘House Of Kong’ exhibition at the Copper Box. It ran from August 8 until September 3, and offered fans a look behind the curtain of the virtual band’s headquarters, and provided insights into the journey they have had since sharing their 2000 debut single ‘Tomorrow Comes Today’, up until the present day.

The band are now set to relaunch Kong Studios as an online video game.

Mclusky Announce 2026 North American Tour

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Welsh rock band Mclusky are returning to North America for a 2026 tour. It marks their first time playing the United States and Canada since releasing The World Is Still Here and So Are We, their comeback album and first LP in 20 years. Check out the complete list of tour dates below.

“Nostalgia—which is a powerful drug, it turns out—brought us back to your shores just a couple of years ago. Some people got to remember what they were like when they were 20—their hopes, their dreams, their fully operational knee joints,” frontman Andrew Falkous said. “Now we all get a chance to break free from nostalgia, to prove to ourselves that we’re more than the cast of cocoon sporting telecasters. We (the band) get to play the old songs—the ‘hits’ as a much loved grandparent might have it—and the new ones too. (Well, probably five or six of them over the course of a set, that’s the magic number for ‘new.’)”

The band—whose lineup currently stars singer-guitarist Andrew Falkous, drummer Jack Egglestone, and bassist Damien Sayell—released its previous album, The Difference Between Me and You Is That I’m Not on Fire, in 2004. Afterward, Mclusky released the compilation Mcluskyism and split up. It wasn’t until 2022 that Mclusky formally reunited as a band to play shows together again and record new music, starting with the double-A-side single “Unpopular Parts of a Pig / The Digger You Deep.”

Armand Hammer and the Alchemist are getting back together for a new album. After connecting on 2021’s Haram, they’ll drop Mercy on November 7 via billy woods’ Backwoodz Studioz. The project will feature guest contributions from Earl Sweatshirt, Quelle Chris, Cleo Reed, Pink Siifu, Kapwani, and Silka. See the tracklist and the album artwork, by M. Musgrove, below.

Ahead of the album’s release, on Thursday, October 23, Armand Hammer and the Alchemist will play a show together at Los Angeles’ Lodge Room. The concert takes place after billy woods’ run of dates in Europe and before he starts a new North American leg of his tour.

Armand Hammer—the New York hip-hop duo of billy woods and Elucid—most recently shared We Buy Diabetic Test Strips in 2023. Since then, billy woods has dropped Golliwog, while Elucid did the solo album Revelator.
