“It’s incredibly profound, and it’s really stupid.” Bleecker Street has unveiled a very funny 5-minute rock doc featurette in promotion of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, the long-awaited, heavy metal legacy sequel, epic reuniting of unforgettable British rock band Spinal Tap. It’s a proper continuation of the 1984 mockumentary classic that is still just as ridiculously funny today – now 41 years later. In this follow-up, the iconic metal band reunite after a 15-year break for one final concert. “The thing that you guys had as kids, is that still there?” The entire cast rock band is back for more mayhem, as they reunite and deal with all their grudges from the past. Spinal Tap II: The End Continues is once again directed by Rob Reiner, with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer reprising their iconic roles as the legendary heavy metal band Spinal Tap. Reiner returns as documentarian Martin “Marty” DiBergi, with cameos from music legends Elton John, Paul McCartney, as well as Questlove, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, and many others. This video features people like Ben Stiller, Conan O’Brien, Questlove & others discussing how great the OG Spinal Tap movie is and what makes it a timeless all-timer classic. This Is Spinal Tap was released to critical acclaim in 1984 and went on to become a cult classic. In 2002, it was deemed “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress, and was selected for preservation by the National Film Registry. Conceived by rockers Guest, McKean, Reiner, and Shearer, Spinal Tap II follows England’s loudest and most punctual band, as they reunite after a 15-year hiatus for one final concert. On the 40th anniversary of the original film, the sequel to the legendary rock mockumentary that put the film company on a run of success. Spinal Tap II: The End Continues is once again directed by iconic American filmmaker Rob Reiner, director of many classics like Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, The Story of Us, plus docs the original This Is Spinal Tap, I Am Your Child, and Albert Brooks: Defending My Life most recently. The screenplay is by Christopher Guest & Michael McKean & Rob Reiner & Harry Shearer. Produced by Rob Reiner, Michele Reiner and Matthew George; financed by Castle Rock Entertainment.
