Ian Watkins, the former lead singer of rock band Lostprophets and a convicted pedophile, was killed in a prison attack in the United Kingdom. He was 48.

Watkins died on Saturday (Oct. 11) after being stabbed by another inmate at HMP Wakefield, a high-security prison in West Yorkshire, according to multiple U.K. news outlets.

“At 9.39am this morning (Saturday), police were called by staff at HMP Wakefield reporting an assault on a prisoner,” West Yorkshire Police said in a statement, per Reuters. “Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.”

Although the statement did not name Watkins, Sky News reported that he was attacked with a knife. The Sun claimed his throat was slashed after inmates were released from their cells that morning. Further details about the incident had not yet been revealed at press time.

This was not the first time Watkins was assaulted in prison. In August 2023, he was attacked by three inmates and sustained neck injuries that required medical attention.

Watkins was serving a 29-year sentence following his 2013 conviction on numerous child sex offenses. He pleaded guilty to 13 charges, including the attempted rape of a baby. At sentencing, the judge described Watkins’ actions as having “plumbed new depths of depravity.”

Lostprophets formed in 1997 and achieved success in the 2000s, including a chart-topping U.K. album, Liberation Transmission, in 2006, and a No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart with “Last Train Home” in 2004. Their final album, Weapons, was released in 2012, shortly before Watkins’ arrest. The band disbanded shortly afterward.

Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, and Seth Meyers Return to Weekend Update for “Joke Off”

As host of this week’s SNL, Amy Poehler couldn’t resist returning to her old Weekend Update desk, where she reunited with her former co-anchors Tina Fey and Seth Meyers. The trio made a surprise appearance to challenge current anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che to a “Joke Off,” a rapid-fire punchline battle inspired by a recent news story about a Tennessee woman who broke a record by giving birth to a 13-pound baby.

Earlier in the episode, Poehler and Fey played Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem during SNL’s cold open.

written by jummy84

David Byrne and Hayley Williams have enjoyed a close personal and working relationship for the past several years, and their chemistry was evident last night (Oct. 11) at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, where the Paramore frontwoman made a surprise appearance for two songs.

The artists reprised their collaboration “What Is the Reason for It?” from Byrne’s latest album, Who Is the Sky?, and Williams returned later to lend a hand on Byrne’s cover of Paramore’s 2013 song “Hard Times,” which he’s played at every show so far on his in-progress North American tour.

What’s more, Byrne and Williams’ previously announced contribution to the Netflix animated film The Twits, “Open the Door,” is out now ahead of the movie’s Oct. 17 release date. Byrne wrote and produced three other original songs, “We’re Not Like Ev’ryone Else,” “Lullaby” and “The Problem Is You,” for the project, which is based on characters by Roald Dahl and boasts voice acting by Natalie Portman and Emilia Clarke.

“She has an extraordinary rapport with her audience,” Byrne told People of seeing Williams perform with Paramore at New York’s Madison Square Garden in 2023. “It’s very sincere and very close, which I made note of. I just thought, that’s really amazing.”

Byrne concludes his four-night Radio City run tonight and has dates booked in North American through Dec. 6 in Miami. Dates in Australia, New Zealand, the U.K. and Europe begin Jan. 14 in Auckland.

West Hollywood sparkled with star power as MISTR launched the inaugural National PrEP Day at The Abbey on Thursday night (Oct. 9). The blue carpet event set the stage for the first-ever National PrEP Day, which will forever be held on (Oct. 10).

Hosted by Bob the Drag Queen and MISTR CEO Tristan Schukraft, the event delivered a bold campaign aiming to enroll 10,000 new people on PrEP in just 10 days to help end HIV in America. Drag all-stars kicked off the night with a tribute to Dua Lipa before the superstar took the stage herself with hits including “New Rules,” “Don’t Start Now,” and “Houdini.”

Celebrities and influencers filled the event, including Cardi B, Demi Lovato, Todrick Hall, Cynthia Bailey, Nene Leakes, TS Madison, Tamar Braxton, Alyssa Edwards, and more.

Cardi lent her voice to the cause after dancing with the MISTR team. “Sexual health should be easy and zero shame,” she said. “That’s why I’m rocking with MISTR & SISTR! Even if you don’t have insurance, it’s free! Safe, smart, and for the community.”

Schukraft told PEOPLE on the blue carpet, “We can end HIV. We have the tools. Being on PrEP is all about taking control of your own sexual health, just like the birth control pill was when it came out for women. By taking PrEP you’re actually doing your part to end the epidemic.”

The countdown event capped a 10-day national campaign from MISTR and SISTR, which included daily social media PSAs with LGBTQ+ and allied voices such as Cardi, Bailey, Braxton, Adam Lambert, Tom Daley, and many more. MISTR also hosted National PrEP Day events in 15 cities nationwide highlighting PrEP access, sexual health equity, and community.

Cities including Fort Lauderdale, West Hollywood, Wilton Manors, Washington, D.C., and New York City issued official proclamations recognizing National PrEP Day, while bipartisan leaders from across the country publicly voiced their support.

As midnight struck, The Abbey erupted in confetti and cheers to the official launch of National PrEP Day, while Diplo kept the dance floor packed.

Celeste has given fans another taste of her upcoming album ‘Woman Of Faces’ – listen to the new single ‘Time Will Tell’ below.

The singer’s second studio record is set to be released on November 14 via Polydor Records and you can pre-order/-pre-save it here. She has already released the singles ‘On With The Show’, ‘This Is Who I Am’ and ‘Woman Of Faces’.

Now, she has shared ‘Time Will Tell’, a timeless ballad underscored by elegant, swelling strings, with Celeste’s gently raspy vocals soaring high in a throwback to classic ‘50s and ‘60s jazzy R&B. Listen here:

Celeste has described the song as “a lighter moment within a period that was confusing and murky”, adding: “I like the idea of fate, trusting in something that’s not totally within our control.”

“I’m really happy that that song exists. It gives me a great deal of warmth, peace and empowerment when I sing it live. It reminds me that time heals – not everything, but it makes things feel less raw and painful and gives you new perspectives.”

Woman Of Faces’ tracklist:

1) ’On With The Show’
2) ’Keep Smiling’
3) ’Woman of Faces’
4) ’Happening Again’
5) ’Time Will Tell’
6) ’People Always Change’
7) ’Sometimes’
8) ‘Could Be Machine’
9) ‘This Is Who I Am’

Celeste will also play a run of outstore shows in the UK in November. See all the dates below and find any remaining tickets here.

Celeste will play:

Celeste’s debut studio album, ‘Not Your Muse’, was released in 2021. In a four-star review, NME wrote: “Whether up-tempo or morose, Celeste’s remarkable voice is the real show-stealer on ‘Not Your Muse’. It has supernatural qualities, turning already poetic lyrics into gut-punch moments.”

The LP was also featured in NME‘s 20 best debut albums of the year list that year.

Elsewhere, Celeste played at Brian Eno’s ‘Together For Palestine’ charity show at OVO Arena Wembley last month, alongside the likes of Damon Albarn, Paul Weller, Cat Burns and Rachel Chinouriri.

Lostprophets Singer Ian Watkins Dead at 48 After Prison Attack

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins has died at the age of 48 after he was attacked in prison Saturday, it has been confirmed.

Watkins was serving a 29-year jail term after being convicted of a string of heinous sexual offenses, including crimes against young children and babies at HMP Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed Watkins’ death and said detectives from the homicide and major inquiry team have begun an investigation after prison staff were called to an assault on a prisoner on Saturday morning and found Watkins dead at the scene.

The details of the attack are yet to be revealed, but Sky News says he was attacked with a knife, while The Sun claims he had his throat slashed after inmates were unlocked from their cells this morning.

Watkins was previously attacked at the jail in August 2023 by three other prisoners, an incident that left him with neck injuries which required hospital treatment. England’s HMP Wakefield is considered one of the country’s most notorious prisons, and dubbed the “Monster Mansion” as its residents include serial killers, murderers and pedophiles.

Watkins was jailed in December 2013 after admitting a string of horrific sex offenses – including the attempted rape of a fan’s baby; a trial judge later said that the charges against Watkins “plumbed new depths of depravity.” (During trial, it was revealed that the password to encrypted files on Watkins’ computer was “I FUK KIDZ.”)

Watkins was initially arrested in September 2012 after police executed a drugs search warrant at his home in Pontypridd and seized a large number of computers, mobile phones and storage devices.

Trending Stories

In 2019, Watkins was given 10 additional months in prison after a mobile phone was found in his possession; he argued that he was forced by other prisoners to hold onto the phone. While fighting the charges, Watkins refrained from revealing which prisoners gave him the phone out of fear, saying he was locked up with “murderers, mass murderers, rapists, pedophiles, serial killers – the worst of the worst.”

Watkins founded Lostprophets in 2000, with the Welsh band going on to sell more than 3.4 million albums across the globe with hits such as “Last Train Home” and “Rooftops.” Their last record was 2012’s Weapons, released two months before Watkins’ arrest.

Oscar-Winning ‘Annie Hall’ Actress Dies at 79

by jummy84 October 11, 2025

Diane Keaton, the Oscar-winning star of Annie Hall, The Godfather films and Father of the Bride, whose quirky, vibrant manner and depth made her one of the most singular actors of a generation, has died. She was 79.

People first reported Saturday (Oct. 11) that she died in California with loved ones, citing a family spokesperson. No other details were immediately available, and representatives for Keaton did not immediately respond to inquiries.

The unexpected news was met with shock around the world. Keaton was the kind of actor who helped make films iconic and timeless, from her “La-dee-da, la-dee-da” phrasing as Annie Hall, bedecked in that necktie, bowler hat, vest and khakis, to her heartbreaking turn as Kay Adams, the woman unfortunate enough to join the Corleone family.

Her star-making performances in the 1970s, many of which were in Woody Allen films, were not a flash in the pan, and she would continue to charm new generations for decades thanks in part to a longstanding collaboration with filmmaker Nancy Meyers.

She played a businesswoman who unexpectedly inherits an infant in Baby Boom, the mother of the bride in the beloved remake of Father of the Bride, a newly single woman in First Wives Club, and a divorced playwright who gets involved with Jack Nicholson’s music executive in Something’s Gotta Give.

Keaton won her first Oscar for Annie Hall and would go on to be nominated three more times, for Reds, Marvin’s Room and Something’s Gotta Give.

In music, Keaton starred in Justin Bieber’s “Ghost” music video in 2021.

Beyond acting, Keaton also occasionally directed, with one-off episodes of Twin Peaks (1991) and China Beach (1990) and two music videos for Belinda Carlisle on her résumé: “Heaven Is a Place on Earth” (1987) and “I Get Weak” (1988).

“She was such a talent and a big part of my career,” Carlisle wrote on Instagram on Saturday. “She directed two videos of mine – Heaven Is A Place on Earth and the video for I Get Weak. She was kind and eccentric and I was blessed to know her. This is such a big loss… RIP Diane you will be missed.”

First Wives Club co-star Bette Midler also remembered “the brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary Diane Keaton.”

“I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me,” Midler wrote on Instagram of Keaton’s death. “She was hilarious, a complete original, and completely without guile, or any of the competitiveness one would have expected from such a star. What you saw was who she was…oh, la, lala!”

Singer P!nk remembered Keaton, whom she said was “a muse for me in every way,” by paying tribute to “her humor, wit, charm, fashion, and laugh.” “She will be so missed,” she wrote.

Diane Keaton Dead: Oscar-Winning Actress Was 79

written by jummy84

Diane Keaton, the Oscar-winning actress known for her roles in films such Annie Hall, Father of the Bride, The Godfather, and First Wives Club, has died at the age of 79. People confirmed on Saturday that Keaton passed away in California, adding that “her loved ones have asked for privacy.”

Known for her quirky charm, distinctive fashion sense, and ability to portray both comedic and dramatic roles with unmatched skill, Keaton’s career spanned over five decades and resulted in an Academy Award, a BAFTA, and two Golden Globes.

Keaton’s career began on stage as an understudy in the original 1968 production of Hair, followed by her first collaboration with Woody Allen in the 1969 stage version of Play It Again, Sam, which earned her a Tony Award nomination. Her true breakout role came in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather (1972), where she starred as Kay Adams, the faithful but concerned wife of Michael Corleone. She reprised the character two years later in The Godfather Part II, earning further critical acclaim.

It was her lead role in Woody Allen’s 1977 romantic comedy Annie Hall that earned her an Academy Award and established her as a true star. As the titular romantic interest for Allen’s Alvy, Keaton made bold fashion choices for the character — inspiring an entire generation of girls to explore menswear — while celebrating Annie’s quirks and passions as an independent woman of her era.

Keaton made eight movies with Allen in total, including Sleeper (1973), Manhattan (1979), and Radio Days (1987). and Sleeper. Another writer/director she worked with multiple times was Nancy Meyers, starring in the Meyers-penned Baby Boom (1987), Father of the Bride (1991), and Father of the Bride Part II (1995). Meyers then directed her in Something’s Gotta Give (2003), in which Keaton found herself in an unexpected love triangle between Jack Nicholson and Keanu Reeves.

Her other notable roles included appearing alongside Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn in the revenge comedy First Wives Club (1996); she would also team up with Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen for Book Club and its 2023 sequel. Her work as a voice actress was limited to speaking the inner monologue of a dog in Look Who’s Talking Now (1993), the voice of Dory’s mother in Pixar’s Finding Dory (2016), and a onoing role on Netflix’s Dr. Seuss series adaptation Green Eggs and Ham (2019-2022).

On television, before breaking out as a film actress Keaton appeared in the 1970s anthology series Love, American Style and Rod Serling’s Night Gallery. Later in her career, she starred in the infamous 2011 HBO unaired pilot Tilda, a show loosely based on Deadline Hollywood founder Nikki Finke co-starring Elliot Page. In 2016, she returned to HBO as a smoking, basketball-playing nun for the Jude Law-starring limited series The Young Pope. She also played Justin Bieber’s grandmother in the 2021 video for his song “Ghost.”

Outside of acting, Keaton was a photographer, producer, real estate developer, writer, and activist. She is survived by her two children.

Lostprophets’ Ian Watkins Murdered In U.K. Prison

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Former Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins was murdered today (Oct. 11) at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England, where he was serving a 29-year-sentence for sex offenses. Watkins, who was 48, had been in jail for the past 12 years on 13 horrific charges involving children and animals.

According to West Yorkshire Police, Watkins was attacked with a knife by a person or persons unknown and was pronounced dead at the scene. In 2023, he suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being stabbed and taken hostage by three of his fellow prisoners in an incident that took authorities six hours to resolve.

Welsh rock outfit Lostprophets, which had massive U.K. albums in 2004 with Start Something and two years later with Liberation Transmission, immediately broke up in the wake of Watkins’ original conviction.

“Those who have appeared in these courts over many years see a large number of horrific cases,” said the Hon. Mr Justice John Royce at his sentencing. “This case, however, breaks new ground. I am satisfied that you are a deeply corrupting influence, you are highly manipulative, you are a sexual predator, you are dangerous. The public and, in particular, young females need protection from you.”

Following Watkins’ arrest, the non-singing members of Lostprophets formed the band No Devotion with Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly.
