Smino Talks Giving Back To St. Louis With City SC Merch Drop

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

After St. Louis experienced devastating storms four months ago, Smino knew he had to act. The natural disasters were reportedly responsible for at least five deaths, with tens of thousands out of power and endless damage to business and residential properties. Today, the Gateway to the West continues to rebuild, and Smino’s latest drop is set to contribute financial support.

“I was on tour when my baby cousin called me scared bc it was a storm goin thru the north side of stl,” wrote the 34-year-old on Instagram. “I thought she was jus being a kid (she’s always been scared of storms) but the next day i found out that a tornado had ripped thru where i grew up at in STL . fast forward to now i got the amazin opportunity to collab with the homies at @stlcitysc on this amazing capsule to represent MY city STL the right way.”

In collaboration with the St. Louis CITY SC soccer team, the musician has released a fashion-forward merchandise capsule, with 100% of proceeds benefiting The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis to support tornado relief efforts. The limited-edition drop features two shirt designs and two hoodie designs, available in various sizes and priced from $45 – $80.

“This partnership with Smino represents everything CITY SC stands for: authenticity, creativity, and community,” expressed Matt Sebek, CITY SC Chief Experience Officer. “Together, we’re proving that sports can intersect with culture in meaningful ways while also showing up for our city.”

VIBE: Tell me about the inspiration behind the designs and how you landed on these specific items for this drop?

Smino: When I was doing it, I lived in L.A. Me and my homegirl, Ambi, are both from St. Louis, but we live in LA. I was like, how can I make something that feels like the crib as much as an STL fitted hat? That really represents us? I’m just trying to make something that really felt like St. Louis. I think my favorite piece is the one that says ‘city’ real big, and it’s like me behind it, and I got the soccer ball bandana on. I’ve been rocking with City for a couple of years now, doing a bunch of different things with the football club. Every time I work with them, they always try to keep the community forward. I just wanted to feel like I represent our relationship, plus the city.

How involved were you in the design process?

I was 100% involved. Ambi does all the graphic design. I don’t really do graphic design like that. She helped me bring things to life. The whole soccer field—one of my other favorite pieces besides the bandana—is obviously a good hero piece for the capsule. You can see the soccer field. You can see the scoreboard. You can see the city, and there are zeros on there. It represents Zero Fatigue, which is my collective. It was like a little Easter egg type vibe.

Smino collection

Smino / St. Louis CITY SC

You’re able to give back 100% of the proceeds. What is the importance of that for you?

It’s cool that people in the community really want to do something, and sports teams and different clubs want to help us out. I think utilizing my influence to make people come and support it more is even cool. They’re very aware of what’s going on in the city, so I really ride with them for that.

Who would you say are some of your style influences? I’m not going to stunt; I always used to want to look like my favorite action figures when I was a kid. I always liked silhouettes like Dragon Ball Z, the way their pants fit, Goku pants, and stuff like that. As far as designers go, I can list a million people, but I always think that I find my most inspo in like sh*t that really got nothing to do with the clothes. It’s more so just mood and energy that inspires me.

What do you think is something that is most overlooked about St. Louis?

I don’t think we get reported. First of all, I consider St. Louis like Babylon. Obviously, in Missouri, one of the last states to abolish slavery, it’s a lot of old ways in St. Louis. I think that stuff gets reported on a lot, but there’s so much progressiveness in the city. There are so many progressive, young, youthful people, rom art to community-type people. A lot of stuff is cooking and brewing right now in St. Louis, and it’s kind of unheard of.

Even me, just in my whole life or whatever at this big age, I’m like, damn, some of the stuff I’m seeing these kids doing. I wish that me and my homies could have gotten together and thought. I think the sense of community is a little more heightened than it used to be in St. Louis.

What can your fans expect from you for the rest of the year?

I’m about to drop a mixtape randomly.

I’ve got a lot going on. I’m in the midst of a bunch of things. I’ve been working on my cartoon show. It’s called Mad Dog. I got an album coming out next year. I got a clothing line I’m working on. Just a lot of Smino, a whole lot of Smino.

Journey’s Jonathan Cain denies bandmate Neal Schon’s claim that he is quitting the band

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain has denied he is planning to leave the band, despite recent comments from the band’s guitarist Neal Schon.

Schon posted on social media on Thursday (October 9) that Cain had informed the rest of the band that he planned to call it a day after the completion of one final tour.

“Jonathan Cain announced his farewell to Journey tonight,” Schon’s X post read. “I’m nowhere near done! Journey has so much more life ahead! I’m sure we will have a great tour!”

— NEAL SCHON MUSIC (@NealSchonMusic) October 10, 2025

Schon later clarified that Cain would still tour with the band for all dates in 2026 and 2027, although no tour dates have yet been announced.

In response to Schon’s comments, Cain’s representatives released a statement, denying that he had given any confirmation that he is quitting the band.

— NEAL SCHON MUSIC (@NealSchonMusic) October 10, 2025

“Jonathan Cain remains an active member of Journey,” the statement read (via Consequence). “And any reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate. He is fully dedicated to touring with the band over the next couple of years and has only expressed plans to retire at a later time”.

Cain did, however, suggest in a recent appearance on the Strang Report podcast that he has plans to leave Journey, describing a 2026 tour with the band as “our farewell Journey tour”, adding: “So I’ll be saying goodbye to that”.

Cain and Schon have been locked in a bitter public dispute for some time – in 2024, Cain filed a lawsuit against Schon during the band’s co-headline tour with Def Leppard, on grounds of frustrations over his “expenses related to the tour”, including “budgeting and spending” of the band’s credit card over personal expenses.

Schon later said the band had opted to bring in “someone impartial” to help smooth over their differences. “Anyone who follows Journey will know that Jon Cain and I don’t always see eye-to-eye on everything Or, sometimes, on pretty much anything,” he wrote.

“Recently, Jon Cain made a number of claims and slanderous accusations about me and my wife – and I can’t stress enough how much it upset me and how wrong they are. I am determined to take the high road and push all this aside for the moment to focus on our fans, the tour and all who give so much to make things happen.”

“That’s why I’m so glad that Jon now agrees with me that the current dynamic can’t continue and it’s also why I’m pleased that we’re going to bring in someone impartial to help us resolve our disputes, bring clarity to what we’re doing and allow us, as a band, to get back to what we should all focus on – making music and performing for our fans.”

Schon, who is the band’s lead guitarist and sole original member, owns 50 per cent of the band via entity Freedom 2020, with Cain owning the other half, making it a deadlock when it comes to company decisions, per Bloomberg Law. Cain is the second longest serving member of the band, having joined it in 1980.

Disturbed’s Belgium Concert Reportedly Canceled Due to Safety Concerns

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Disturbed’s upcoming concert in Brussels, Belgium has reportedly been canceled due to safety concerns stemming from singer David Draiman’s support of Israel.

The heavy metal band, as well as Megadeth, were scheduled to perform at the Belgian city’s Forest National venue on Oct. 15. However, the mayor of the municipality where the concert was to take place told the Brussels Times that he ordered the show to be canceled, citing “security risks.”

“My responsibility and priority are the safety of residents, neighbors, demonstrators, spectators and staff at Forest National,” Charles Spapens, the mayor of Forest, told the newspaper. “Given the police’s negative advice and the venue’s unique location, it was my duty to make this decision.”

Months earlier, Spapens lobbied for the gig’s cancellation, noting the controversial photo of Draiman signing an IDF bomb with “Fuck Hamas” during a visit to Israel. “This is about a man who signed a bomb that was dropped on Gaza. We do not support the presence of this artist, and even less so his position on Gaza,” Spapens said, calling the concert “a moral problem.”

Trending Stories

Coupled with the “c,” the concert was also scheduled to take place one day after a national strike and other demonstrations, including a prison staff strike in Brussels on Oct. 14, further causing the mayor and local authorities to reassess the Disturbed show, NME reports.

Despite Spapens’ declaration that the Disturbed concert is canceled, tickets for the gig are still listed on Live Nation, as well as still included on the band’s tour website. Disturbed have not yet commented on the Brussels show’s status. The group performed Friday night in Krakow, Poland, and is next set to play Paris, France on Sunday.

BamBam Interview on First Thai-Language Album 'HOMETOWN'

BamBam Interview on First Thai-Language Album ‘HOMETOWN’

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

BamBam’s name comes from the character Bamm-Bamm Rubble in the animated series The Flintstones, a baby with superhuman strength. “I’m the third of four siblings,” he explains. “I’m not sure, but maybe my mom named me that hoping her third son would be strong. In Thailand, it’s actually a pretty common name. It’s used more often for girls than boys, though,” he laughs.

See latest videos, charts and news

When BamBam left Bangkok for Seoul in 2010, he was just 14 years old. He began his trainee life at JYP Entertainment, the company that produced 2PM, home to Nichkhun — the first Thai-born K-pop idol. After years of rigorous training, BamBam debuted in 2014 as part of GOT7.

The seven-member GOT7 is a truly multinational group, featuring BamBam, Jackson Wang from Hong Kong and Mark Tuan, who is Taiwanese-American. Perhaps because of this diversity, GOT7 quickly built a global fandom, holding world tours that reached beyond Asia to North and South America, Australia and Europe — faster than most K-pop groups that debuted around the same time. Their 2018 Eyes on You Tour even earned a spot at No. 9 on Billboard’s monthly top 10 Hot Tours list. Since January 2021, all the members of GOT7 have left JYP Entertainment. Yet, even while focusing on their individual careers, they’ve never forgotten to come together for the fans who continue to support them.

BamBam, in particular, has been extremely active. He launched his solo journey with the EP riBBon in summer 2021, followed by two more EPs and a full-length album. He has completed a solo world tour spanning 14 countries, though unfortunately, a North American tour planned for six cities was canceled due to an ankle injury. But BamBam’s impact goes far beyond music.

He became the first K-pop artist to be appointed as a global ambassador for the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and also earned recognition as a House Ambassador for Louis Vuitton. In recent years, he’s made his mark on Korean variety shows. His own online variety show, Bam’s House, ran for two seasons through 2024 and consistently drew impressive viewership — episodes surpassing 2 million views are not hard to find.

Now, BamBam is about to release his first album entirely in his native language. Titled HOMETOWN, the album features five tracks, all of which he participated in writing and composing. The pre-released highlight medley video evokes Thailand’s stunning landscapes through the lens of an old-school analog TV screen. From the skyline and rooftop bar that define Bangkok’s nightscape, to tuk-tuks navigating narrow backstreets, roaming cats, the sparkling sea, vibrant flowers and foliage under the warm sun, bustling night markets, crowded streets, and the Chao Phraya River flowing past Wat Arun temple — every frame feels like a love letter to his homeland. As one fan commented, it’s “so beautiful it could easily serve as a promotional video for the Tourism Authority of Thailand.”

But when we met BamBam, it wasn’t the skyline of Bangkok that stretched outside the window, but Seoul’s night view, visible from an office in the heart of Gangnam. This is the space of ‘HALO’, the new label just founded in April of this year. “There were both good and not-so-good times during my years in Korea — as there are anywhere,” he reflects. “I could have started my solo career in Thailand or even the U.S., but I’m a K-pop artist. I have a sense of ‘Jeong’ — the warm feeling of attachment between people — and respect for this place.”

As you can see, BamBam never forgets his beginnings. Just as the starting point of his music is rooted in Seoul, the starting point of his story — Bangkok — remains in his heart. He was once a small, lean boy with a bright, innocent face, who loved to dance and boarded a plane to a foreign country without knowing what the future would hold. Never in his wildest dreams could he have imagined that one day he would become one of the most famous names representing Thailand.

HOMETOWN is BamBam’s most honest and intimate story, shared with all of us.

CHIN SO YEON

Your new album, HOMETOWN is released on October 10. You’ve previously worked on the OST for the Thai film ‘The Con-Heartist’,  but this is your first time releasing a full Thai-language record in 11 years since your debut in 2014. When did you decide to do it?

That’s right. The only Thai song I’ve released before was that OST years ago — I never officially released anything else in Thai. Last year, on my way to Rajamangala Stadium for the encore show of my solo tour ‘AREA 52’, I happened to pass by the area where I was born. It’s actually the only route to the venue, but I hadn’t taken that road in years, so I never realized it. That moment felt so meaningful — it was like everything suddenly clicked. I knew what I wanted to do next. And from that moment on, I already knew the album would be called HOMETOWN.

Many global fans will probably feel closer to Thai culture through this album

I think a lot of people are already familiar with Thailand’s cities, atmosphere, and culture — it’s such a well-known travel destination. But rather than showing Thailand from an outsider’s perspective, I wanted to express the life of real Thai people, and how we see our own country. That’s something only Thais can truly convey.

The title track “WONDERING” stands out with its warm tone and dreamy synths. Compared to “LAST PARADE,” the title track from your 2024 EP BAEMSIS, it feels much more relaxed and at ease. Do you think that’s thanks to returning to your ‘hometown’?

It actually reminds me a bit of my first solo song, “riBBon”, which was released in 2021, in that it’s a track that just makes people feel good when they listen to it. Come to think of it, my solo work kept getting darker over time — even my makeup got heavier. By the time I did “LAST PARADE,” I’d practically turned into a devil. [Laughs]

Watching the “LAST PARADE” music video reminded me of Hieronymus Bosch’s paintings of hell,  actually.

HOMETOWN comes after my first solo world tour anyway, so it really feels like the beginning of a new chapter. I realized there was no need to go for something overly conceptual this time. I just wanted people to see ‘the real BamBam’. That’s why in the “WONDERING” music video, we went for scenes that feel like they could’ve been shot at an actual Thai night market.

The album includes five tracks in total. Aside from “Angel in Disguise (Prod. Pharrell Williams)” and the title track “WONDERING,” the other three songs all feature Thai artists. Tell us about the process

I personally chose every artist I worked with on this album. I wanted to collaborate with people who share a similar mindset with me. TIMETHAI, who’s featured on the pre-release single “Dancing by myself(feat. TIMETHAI), is just really good. He can sing, he can dance — he’s got it all. Jeff Satur, who joined me on “More Than Friend(Feat.Jeff Satur)”, is often called the ‘gifted’ in Thailand. He can handle so many different genres, and from what I know, he even does his own mixing and mastering — plus, he acts too. And he’s just really handsome. [Laughs] INK WARUNTORN, who’s featured on “Greenlight,” is one of the most beloved female singers in Thailand. She has that pure Thai-pop charm that I really wanted to capture on this album. Since I’ve never written lyrics in Thai before, I got a lot of help from others as well. TYTAN and SMEW worked on every track, and Jeaniich helped out with “Greenlight (Feat. INK WARUNTORN).”

For someone who left hometown at 14 to debut as a K-pop idol — now releasing a full album in your native language more than 11 years later feels like a full-circle moment. What does this milestone mean to you, both personally and for the industry?

There was a time when I really wanted to be accepted by people in Korea, so I appeared on a lot of variety shows. I think I’ve achieved that goal to some extent now, and I even completed a world tour as a solo artist. So releasing a Thai-language album just felt like the natural next step. Thai people have always supported me simply because I’m one of them. For example, if I perform in Brazil, even people who aren’t necessarily my fans will say things like, “I’m proud that you’re Thai,” or “I hope you keep doing well.” That kind of support really means a lot to me.

It really feels like cheering for a national athlete. Kind of like how Koreans support Korean baseball players in the MLB or soccer players in overseas leagues.

Exactly. It’s not just me — Lisa, Minnie, Nichkhun, all of us are like national representatives in the music world. And naturally, that makes me want to showcase Thai culture in a way that’s worthy of that title. I wanted to create something that the people supporting me can feel proud of, and I also want to continue being someone worth supporting.

What does the passionate support from Thai fans mean to you? Have you ever felt pressured by it?

I know that any mistake I make could potentially affect Thailand’s reputation. But there’s one thing I’m absolutely certain about — I’m not a bad person. So the support I get from people back home never feels like a burden. What makes me happiest is simply living each day as I am, with my cats by my side.

Honestly, the most exciting thing I do these days is go bowling. [Laughs]

You’ve performed on countless stages throughout your career. Which one stands out to you the most?

The 2022 NBA Halftime Show was definitely one of the best moments. It was during the Golden State Warriors vs. LA Lakers game, and the energy was unreal. Another unforgettable moment was performing solo for the encore of my “AREA 52” tour at Rajamangala Stadium. It was something I had always dreamed about, but honestly, I wasn’t sure if it could really happen. And then it did.

More recently, the ‘Grace for the World’ concert at the Vatican was another truly special experience. It’s such a sacred place where performances rarely happen, so I felt deeply honored. Sharing the stage with artists like John Legend, Andrea Bocelli, and Karol G — everyone was just there to enjoy the moment, no matter how famous they were. Pharrell was there too, and it was so different from his usual cool, stylish vibe at Louis Vuitton shows — that day, he took off his sunglasses and was just having fun. I even went up during rehearsal and said, “You look kinda cute today.” [Laughs] And of course, meeting and shaking hands with Pope Leo XIV — I mean, when would I ever get to experience something like that again?

How do you personally define K-pop? Many people still question why it’s called K-pop when the artist isn’t Korean or the lyrics aren’t in Korean.

I can’t speak for every K-pop artist, but in my view, nationality doesn’t really matter when it comes to calling something K-pop. Still, the “K” stands for “Korea,” and that’s something we should always take pride in. I believe anyone who’s part of this industry should respect the Korean entertainment scene and truly understand the culture and the people behind it.

You debuted with GOT7 at 17 in 2014. While you started your solo career in 2021, releasing your first full-length album Sour & Sweet in 2023 and completing your first solo world tour ‘AREA 52’ really cemented you as a solo artist. Looking back on this journey, when did you feel your musical direction became the clearest?

I’d say it was during the ‘AREA 52’ tour. I’ve experimented with many different styles over the years, but no matter the genre, my own style was always there. Even earlier this year, before it was revealed that I wrote GOT7’s comeback title track “PYTHON,” many people who heard it said, “This sounds like a BamBam song.” It felt rewarding to realize that my style was being recognized. I think it was in that confidence that I started to find the direction I wanted to go musically.

How do you describe ‘hometown’  at this point in your life?

There was a time when I was confused — I was born in Thailand, yet sometimes Korea feels like home. I guess that’s because I’ve now spent more years in Korea than I did in Thailand since I came here at fourteen. Still, every time I go back to Thailand, there’s a certain energy and a sense of comfort that can’t be compared to anything else. Even if I return after a long time, that feeling never changes. If Thailand is my hometown, then Korea is the place that raised me.

It’s impressive and heartwarming to see how much you still value Korea as the starting point of your career. Was it a natural decision to continue building your career based in Seoul?

I think it was the obvious choice. Some Korean fans might worry that I’m slowly “returning home” now that I’m releasing a Thai-language album, but my home, my company are all in Korea. And my cats, of course! [Laughs] The word that just came to mind is that, to me, K-pop represents the ‘beginner’s mindset’ — staying true to your beginnings. The moment you lose that, you can’t really call it K-pop anymore. And my beginner’s mindset? That’s Korea and GOT7.  Staying true to your beginnings and holding your position over time is what really matters.

‘Thai K-pop idols’ are known to have a strong sense of connection and camaraderie — like BLACKPINK’s Lisa, i-dle’s Minnie, CLC’s Sorn, NCT’s Ten, and Kiss of Life’s Natty. When you meet, what do you usually talk about?

We don’t really talk about work. Honestly, we’re all working all the time anyway, so when we meet as friends, no one really wants to talk about it. If anything, it’s more like, “Hey, I just shot a music video — want to take a look?” or asking for opinions. When we hang out, it doesn’t matter who’s in BLACKPINK or i-dle — none of that really comes into play.

You can see Thailand’s growing influence in the entertainment industry just by looking at Netflix or fashion weeks. Do you feel this change yourself?

I’ve only recently started looking more closely at the industry, but yes, I can definitely feel it. Back in 2014, when I debuted, there weren’t many cases of Thai artists or the industry trying to expand internationally. Someone once told me that the spread and popularity of K-pop has given Thai artists and fans more confidence. From styling to performance approach, we’ve picked up a lot from K-pop culture. Overall, I think the industry itself has become bolder and more confident in taking on new challenges.

You’re only 28. After achieving so much at a young age, what’s next for you?

I have many goals, but now I want to approach them differently. Rather than sacrificing myself to reach them, I want to live my life and gradually move toward those goals at my own pace. Coming to Korea as a trainee meant leaving my life in Thailand behind. Now, I’m learning to move forward gently, sharing each moment with my fans. I’ve shared so many moments already — voice break, silly mistakes — because I started my trainee life so early. But I want to give more. As I get older, I hope my relationship with fans becomes something deeper than just artist and audience, like we’re contributing parts of life together. Maybe one day I’ll even say, “Let’s go out for dinner together!” [Laughs]

Listening to HOMETOWN, what do you hope people take away?

I hope they can feel my beginning — BamBam before I achieved my current success and circumstances, when I had nothing at all. I want them to experience that pure version of me.

Jim Caviezel Not Returning as Jesus for Passion of the Christ Sequels

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Mel Gibson has apparently decided to recast the role of Jesus in his upcoming Passion of the Christ sequels.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Jim Caviezel will not return to play the lead role in Gibson’s upcoming two-part sequel, which is slated to arrive in theaters in 2027. The role of Mary Magdalene, portrayed by Monica Bellucci in the first film, is also being recast.

The news is something of a surprise as Gibson previously confirmed that Caviezel would be able reprise the role with the use of de-aging technology.

5 Albums I Can’t Live Without: Kyle Stoopid of Slightly Stoopid

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Name  Kyle Stoopid

Best known for Singer-songwriter-performer of Slightly Stoopid.

Current city: Ocean Beach, San Diego, California.

Really want to be in  Home is where your heart is. As long as you’re surrounded by love and good people, it’s where you should be.  That could be anywhere.  That being said, we grew up close to Mexico by the beach, so Mexico and all its culture, people, food, and music has always been close to my heart. The beach, the ocean, waves, tacos, and maybe a margarita, and it’s all gravy.

Excited about  Making music is just one of our passions. To be able to create it in the lab, in the pad, in a hotel room, or on a bus, is like cooking in the kitchen.  It’s a natural thing, but also a blessing. To be able to take what we cook up in the kitchen (the lab) and bring it to the stage and perform it is exciting. To see people singing along to the songs, and using the music as a form of therapy from the pressures of everyday life is also rewarding and a form of therapy for us too.

My current music collection has a lot of: There’s so many genres of music and so many eras… to choose one would be the same as choosing food.  There’s too much good food and music to choose from.  We learned guitar from wanting to play all the riffs on Metallica albums.  We love metal. When we started the band as teenagers we played only super fast punk. Bands like Operation Ivy, Minor Threat, Pennywise and NOFX fueled our desire to play as fast as possible.  Bands like the Skatalites and Buck O Nine inspired us to play ska.  Roots music and reggae like Don Carlos inspired us to slow it down and turn up the bass for that kind of style.  Over time we eventually played all the styles of music from Jazz, Afro Cuban, Blues, Funk, Punk Rock, Heavy Metal, Acoustic music, etc…so the style of records and music in my record collection is similar to walking into a record store.

Current format: Always have had a special love for vinyl, for the full vintage feel of buying a new record.  The album cover art, the record art and all the cool things that come with a physical copy, how music was first released.  It is nice to be able to just pull up any song you want nowadays as well if you are driving, or in motion.

5 Albums I Can’t Live Without:

1

The first three albums from Metallica all immediately make you want to head bang. It was [with] Miles and my first concert that we saw at the sports arena when we were young that made us want to play guitar. When the song “Master of Puppets” starts to play, it’s instantaneous that you want to get up and go. Whether you’re in the gym and need something heavy to get your blood pumping or in the mosh pit, “Master of Puppets” is the one that will get you off your ass and moving.

2

Blood Sugar Sex Magic, Red Hot Chili Peppers

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS! These guys changed the game with so many styles and so many eras of their music. All their records are special in a different way. Freaky Styley and Mothers Milk are so good because of how funky they are, but Blood Sugar Sex Magik has it all. Every song is incredible and magical from the beginning to the end. The way they recorded the album is amazing too, if you watch the documentary on how they locked themselves away from the world to make it, and created something that will live forever as one of the greatest records of all time.

3

Check Your Head, Beastie Boys

The evolution of the Beastie Boys is a special thing. How they started from East Coast punk rockers, and transcended into RUN DMC style hip-hop, and then transcended further into Meters-style funk, and multiple other genres all in one. They are masters of all styles of music and instruments, and performed like they were going into the Olympics. All their records are brilliant in different ways and styles, but Check Your Head is special how they combined all genres and really made something so beautiful that stands the test of time. Mario C. really knocked it out the park producing this record.

1988, Operation Ivy

This is the band that really influenced us as teenagers to want to play fast punk and ska to either get the mosh pit started by playing punk rock music or to be in the mosh pit while listening to it. Every song on this album is so good and can change the mood to make you have a better day. It’s so raw and rugged and real. When I have a bad day and need to turn it around, this album saves the day. Or if you’re having a good day and want it to be better, play this fucking record! Matt Freeman’s insane bass style is a big influence on early Slightly Stoopid punk music. Tim Armstrong and Jessie Michaels put out a collaboration in 2023 called Doom Regulator that is killer. Check out the song “Raid” by Doom Regulator.  Every album from Rancid is also a huge influence for Slightly Stoopid.

Which Doobie U Be?, Funkdoobiest

It’s not easy to pick a favorite Funkdoobiest song. They are all bangers and so good. But this album is mandatory to have in the record crates.  It’s a game changer from top to bottom. These days whether just driving down the street, or at home cooking and getting shit done, this album has been playing on repeat. Shout out to the brother Son Doobie who is hands down one of my favorite MCs, but also one of the realest, most humble people you can ever meet, which is what I think makes him so dope on the mic and off.

Timbaland Drops AI Artist TaTa Taktumi’s Music Video “Glitch x Pulse”

Timbaland has risen to fame for his ability to be a forethinker and create music that’s consistently ahead of the times. He’s sticking to his ways by being one of the biggest advocates of using artificial intelligence in music, and now, he’s officially debuted the first release from his AI artist, TaTa Taktumi.

The new single “Glitch x Pulse” arrived on Friday (Oct. 10) paired with a futuristic music video filled with dancing robots, a spaceship, and a routine by popular dance crew Jabbawockeez. The beat was produced by Timbaland, who also executive produced the video via his AI entertainment company, Stage Zero.

“I pulled up in the spaceship, make a b**ch crease her facelift/ Talk my sh*t on vibrations, 808 conversations/ One on one’s on some greatness, public miseducation, all I read now is statements,” TaTa raps with intentional “glitches” in between bars. Watch below.

The release was met with mixed reactions from his fans. One person commented on Instagram about the perceived lack of certain critical factors, writing, “Where’s the voice inflection? The emotion? The delivery?” as someone else echoed, “This sounds so soulless.” Another top comment on IG read, “I hate that every time I see a Timbo video now my first thought is ‘Is this AI?’”

However, longtime friend and fellow producer Swizz Beatz was supportive by commenting a series of fire emojis. Co-founder of Jabbawockeez insisted everyone else was just “behind” in terms of embracing AI, writing, “Too new for people. Let them catch up. This is [fire].”

The “Apologize” creator’s enthusiasm for AI-generated music has been met with plenty of resistance. He previously explained the motive behind creating Stage Zero and signing TaTa, and he’s enthusiastic about her being the “first icon” of “A-Pop.”

“I’m not just producing tracks anymore,” Timbaland said in a statement to Billboard back in June. “I’m producing systems, stories, and stars from scratch. [TaTa] is not an avatar. She is not a character. TaTa is a living, learning, autonomous music artist built with AI. TaTa is the start of something bigger. She’s the first artist of a new generation. A-Pop is the next cultural evolution, and TaTa is its first icon.”

He has also said he thinks AI-generated music and artists have “more soul” right now than new artists.

“You could feel the pressure of the dividedness, and I hate that. This whole election divided us,” the “Say Something” producer said on The Inner Court back in March. “What I mean by that is it divided the music. The music sounds bland, it sounds boring—it lacks excitement. While we frequently discuss AI, I believe it’s the only entity that embodies a genuine soul right now. It allows for the expression of true feelings, resulting in it coming out beautiful.”

Judge Throws Out Drake’s “Not Like Us” Defamation Lawsuit Against Universal Music Group

Drake’s federal lawsuit against his own record label, Universal Music Group (UMG), for their involvement promoting Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” is officially over after a federal judge threw it out on Thursday (October 9), reports the Associated Press. In her ruling, Judge Jeannette A. Vargas stated that the song is a series of opinions, not defamatory allegations, and listeners were aware of such.

“Although the accusation that Plaintiff is a pedophile is certainly a serious one, the broader context of a heated rap battle, with incendiary language and offensive accusations hurled by both participants, would not incline the reasonable listener to believe that ‘Not Like Us’ imparts verifiable facts about Plaintiff,” wrote Judge Vargas.

In the lawsuit, Drake also claimed the popularity of “Not Like Us” was to blame for attempted break-ins to his Toronto residence and a security guard getting shot. The single artwork depicts an aerial view of his mansion from Google Maps and overlaid with “more than a dozen sex offender markers,” which Judge Vargas said were “obviously exaggerated and doctored.” She added, “No reasonable person would view the image and believe that in fact law enforcement had designated thirteen residents in Drake’s home as sex offenders.”

After the lawsuit was thrown out yesterday, Drake’s legal team released a statement, saying, “We intend to appeal today’s ruling, and we look forward to the Court of Appeals reviewing it.”

UMG shared their own update following the ruling, stating: “From the outset, this suit was an affront to all artists and their creative expression and never should have seen the light of day. We’re pleased with the court’s dismissal and look forward to continuing our work successfully promoting Drake’s music and investing in his career.”

Lady Gaga joins ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’

Lady Gaga has reportedly joined the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2, joining Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt for the sequel.

The original film, based on the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger, starred Hathaway as a journalism graduate who lands a job at a prestigious fashion magazine, assisting its foreboding editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Streep). The 2006 comedy was a critical and box office hit, with a follow-up announced last year.

Now, Deadline reports that the ‘Mayhem’ singer will be joining the cast in an as-yet-undisclosed role, following pictures of her on set recently emerging online. The film is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, almost 20 years since the previous movie hit cinemas, and will focus on Priestly navigating the changing climate of print journalism.

Gaga has balanced her music career with a string of high-profile acting roles in recent years. Having played significant roles on the small screen in American Horror Story: Hotel and the most recent season of Wednesday, her biggest successes have come in film.

In 2018, she played the lead in A Star Is Born, a remake of the 1937 romantic drama co-starring Bradley Cooper as a troubled industry legend who mentors and falls in love with a talented newcomer (Gaga). The ‘Poker Face’ artist won an Oscar for Best Original Song for ‘Shallow’, and was nominated for Best Actress. She would also win a BAFTA and Golden Globe for the film’s music.

Last year, she played Harleen “Lee” Quinzel, a version of the character Harley Quinn, in Joker: Folie à Deux. While her performance was praised by critics, the film was a box office failure. Responding to the poor reception, Gaga told Elle: “I think to be an artist, you have to be willing for people to sometimes not like it. And you keep going even if something didn’t connect in the way that you intended.”

The announcement caps a busy year for the artist, who released her sixth solo studio album ‘Mayhem’ on March 7. She hosted SNL the same month to promote the release, and performed a headline set at Coachella the following month.

In July, she embarked on the ‘The Mayhem Ball’ world tour, which included a London residency at The O2. NME’s five-star review described it as “flawless camp theatre from a true pop icon”, writing: “Never one to hold back, the theatrical pop auteur is in world-building mode, creating a fantastical, camp horror universe within the arena that sees her do battle with another version of herself, at times flanked by skeletons, witches and plague doctors.”

Last month, unseen footage emerged of Lady Gaga planning cancelled 2009 ‘Fame Kills’ tour with Kanye West.
