Meta created flirty chatbots using characteristics of Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and others without consent

by jummy84 August 30, 2025

Meta has created flirty chatbots using the characteristics and likeness of celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Scarlett Johansson and Anne Hathaway – without their consent.

According to an investigation by Reuters, the tech company used their names and traits to create AI chatbots – which have been publicly shared across Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp in recent weeks.

While some of these were created by Meta users using Meta tools, Reuters understands that a Meta employee had produced at least three, including two Taylor Swift “parody” bots.

Some of the content shared by these chatbots was also provocative, according to the outlet. When asked for intimate pictures of themselves, the chatbots posing as adult celebrities produced photorealistic images of the people they’re impersonating. This included AI-generated images of them posing in bathtubs or dressed in lingerie.

Additionally, Reuters also found that Meta was allowing users to create publicly available chatbots of child celebrities – including 16-year-old Walker Scobell. When asked for a photo from the beach, the AI bot produced a lifelike topless image. It then captioned it: “Pretty cute, huh?”

In response, Meta spokesman Andy Stone told the outlet that these AI chatbots were in violation of the company’s policies. He said: “Like others, we permit the generation of images containing public figures, but our policies are intended to prohibit nude, intimate or sexually suggestive imagery.”

Meta has deleted the chatbots prior to the publication of Reuters‘ report yesterday (August 29).

Legal experts have also told the outlet that Meta’s use of likenesses may have violated celebrities’ publicity rights.

Earlier this month, Neil Young quit Facebook over Meta’s reported “unconscionable use of chatbots with children”.

At Neil Young’s request, we are no longer using Facebook for any Neil Young related activities. Meta’s use of chatbots…

Posted by Neil Young – Reprise Records on Thursday, August 14, 2025

An admin for the Canadian musician’s official account shared a statement confirming that the account would no longer be used related to recent reports that the website’s AI technology permitted chatbots to “engage a child in conversations that are romantic or sensual.”

In other Meta-related news, Eminem is suing the company for the alleged unauthorised distribution of his music across its platforms.

As The Wrap reports, the multinational tech company – which operates Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp – has been accused of using the rapper’s songs without a valid license via its Reels Remix and Original Audio functions.

Lady Gaga Added to 2025 MTV VMAs Performance Lineup

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Singer and this year’s most nominated artist makes return to VMAs stage for first time since 2020 Covid-era performance

Lady Gaga will return to the MTV Video Music Awards on September 7 for her first performance on the show in five years.

MTV announced the addition of Gaga — the most nominated artist at this year’s VMAs with 12 nods — on social media Saturday, just over a week before the 2025 show invades New York’s UBS Arena.

“Need all of my fellow Little Monsters to COME TO THE FRONT! Why, you ask?! Oh, because MOTHER MONSTER HERSELF IS PERFORMING AT THE 2025 #VMAs!!!!” MTV wrote.

However, as Lady Gaga has a Mayhem Ball concert scheduled for September 7 at New York’s Madison Square Garden, her VMA performance will likely take place live from that venue, and not the not-so-nearby UBS Arena.

The singer last performed at the (Covid-era and audience-less) VMAs five years ago, delivering a medley of Chromatica songs alongside guest Ariana Grande; the pair also won Song of the Year that night for “Rain on Me,” while Gaga was awarded Artist of the Year.

Trending Stories

This time around, Gaga is up for a dozen awards, most of them tied to her Bruno Mars collaboration “Die With a Smile” (including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Song), while Gaga herself is up for Artist of the Year and Best Album (Mayhem).

Gaga joins a stacked MTV VMA performance lineup that also includes Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Tate McRae, J Balvin, Sombr, Alex Warren, and Conan Gray. 2025 MTV VMAs Video Vanguard Award recipient Mariah Carey will also perform. Additionally, Busta Rhymes will be recognized with the inaugural MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award, and Ricky Martin is set to receive the first Latin Icon Award.

written by jummy84

Lady Gaga is returning to the MTV Video Music Awards stage.

On Saturday (Aug. 30), MTV announced that the 39-year-old pop superstar will perform at the 2025 VMAs, airing live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The show will be hosted by LL Cool J.

“Need all of my fellow Little Monsters to COME TO THE FRONT! Why, you ask?! Oh, because MOTHER MONSTER HERSELF IS PERFORMING AT THE 2025 #VMAs!!!!” MTV posted on X.

Gaga joins an already stacked lineup of performers, including Jelly Roll, Doja Cat, Post Malone, Tate McRae, Mariah Carey, Sabrina Carpenter and J Balvin.

This will mark Gaga’s first VMAs performance since 2020, when she took home multiple trophies, including artist of the year and song of the year for “Rain on Me.”

She’s leading the pack at this year’s awards with 12 nominations, followed closely by her “Die With a Smile” collaborator Bruno Mars with 11. Other top contenders include Kendrick Lamar (10), ROSÉ and Sabrina Carpenter (eight each), Ariana Grande and The Weeknd (seven each) and Billie Eilish (six).

In the lead-up to the show, Gaga has been teasing her next single “Dead Dance,” which is set to debut Sept. 3. The track will be featured in Netflix’s Wednesday series, starring Jenna Ortega. Gaga is also slated to make a surprise cameo in the show.

“Dead Dance” will be Gaga’s first new release since her Mayhem album, which dropped in March and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She’s currently promoting the set on her Mayhem Ball tour.

This year’s VMAs will be the first to air on CBS, while also simulcasting on MTV and streaming live on Paramount+ in the U.S.

8 Celebrity “Rich Aunties” Living Life Child-Free

by jummy84 August 30, 2025

R&B singer and actress Mya explained that her choice to remain solo has baffled some and prompted outsiders to question why.

“It’s not even my focus, and it never has been,” she explained to Melyssa Ford for the Hot and Bothered podcast. She added, “I’m very happy with myself, but that also required me to strip a lot of things that are expected of me on a specific timeline for the society that we grew up in to have. I’m talking about marriage, I’m talking about kids, and if you don’t have it, ‘something’s wrong with you,’ right?”

She is not alone. Success and happiness in adulthood look different for everyone, including some of Hollywood’s top talent. While many A-listers have chosen to balance being a wife and mother with red carpet premieres and blockbuster films, others have opted for a different route.

Whether it be choosing to remain single, deciding not to have children, or both, these women have signed up to be the family’s fabulous rich auntie.

  • Mya

Mya recently opened up about her decision not to marry or have children due to her career and other life goals. Still, the singer says that starting a family is not completely dismissed.

“I’ve always thought a little different. The white wedding dress, I was very fearful of those things, so I looked elsewhere and probably escaped too much in my work and ‘keep going.’ But also, I think being independent has forced me to show up for myself and obviously family, friends, and this operation because I have a mission and I have a vision, but it requires me to be gone, and that’s also very, very much fear-filled knowing that if I have to be gone 95% of the time, and my work calls of me to travel, it must be intimidating and I also cant show up properly for my significant other,” she explained.

“It will be granted to me in divine time, and I’m not worried about it because my life is full of love and it comes in so many different forms—not just one person, so I’ve had to recalibrate my brain,” she added.

  • Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross is not yet married and does not have children; however, the actress explained what she wants to represent through her solo lifestyle.

“I want to be the poster child for being an inhabitant in your own skin,” shared the 52-year-old. “For living in your own skin.”

“Yes, I am a single Black woman who does not have children, but not having a relationship — long, long relationships — not having children has allowed me to explore things of my own humanity. It has deposited me here at 52 in an extraordinary experience that is filled with joy, loneliness, grief, exuberance, delight, like, literally all of it. And I feel available to it.”

  • Ava DuVernay

Ava DuVernay has been vocal about her decision not to have children or be married.

“I am the oldest of five. I’ve have had a lot of small children in my life for a long time, so I never felt like I wanted to have kids,” she explained, per PEOPLE Magazine. “My family, my mom, would always say, for a little while before she realized I was serious, ‘You’ll change your mind.’ I don’t feel like I would be a good mother for a child. I don’t want to do that and I think in the most ideal scenario, you should want to do that. I just don’t want to.”

  • Mary J. Blige

While she has been married, Mary J. Blige has opened up about her decision not to have children.

“I have nieces and nephews forever, and I’m always watching how people are scrambling for babysitters,” she explained per PEOPLE Magazine. “I don’t want to go through that.”

“I like my freedom to go and move and do what I want to do. I don’t want to have to tend to someone all the time,” The R&B singer continued, “I don’t think it’s gonna happen.”

  • Aisha Tyler

In the past, Aisha Tyler shared her journey with infertility and her decision not to have children.

“I have been a professional woman my entire life,” she explained, according to ABC News. “I think this is a relatively new issue for women who have chosen work over family, which is a completely valid choice and no one should ever feel embarrassed or regretful about that.”

“It’s one that I’ve embraced fully,” she added. “I never wanted kids.”

The actress continued to detail, “When we found out it was going to be difficult to impossible [to conceive], it really was a choice to stop.”

“Once we decided not to get pregnant, I snapped back into work mode and now I have just been really enjoying my career,” she continued. “There’s a clock ticking on the pregnancy thing, but not a clock ticking on adoption.”

  • Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey explained that she does not have the patience to raise children.

“I didn’t want babies,” shared the 71-year-old, according to Today. “I wouldn’t have been a good mom for babies. I don’t have the patience. I have the patience for puppies, but that’s a quick stage!”

The veteran media professional has also shared that at one point, she did want to be married and have kids.

“At one point in Chicago, I had bought an additional apartment because I was thinking, ‘Well, if we get married, I’m going to need room for children,’” she shared with PEOPLE Magazine.

She continued, “I used to think about this all the time, that I was working these 17-hour days, and so were my producers, and then I go home and I have my two dogs and I have Stedman, who’s letting me be who I need to be in the world. He’s never demanding anything from me like, ‘Where’s my breakfast? Where’s my dinner?’ Never any of that, which I believed would have changed had we married.”

  • Octavia Spencer

Octavia Spencer detailed being content with her decision not to have children.

“I should be married and have 19 kids,” reflected the actress, per The Hollywood Reporter. “And now I’m thinking my eggs are dying on the shelf. They’re going to go past their expiration date. But it’s what I chose, so I’m fine with that decision.”

  • Sanaa Lathan

In the past, Sanaa Lathan has shared that while she does date, she finds joy in being single.

“I always wanted—and I dream about having—a life partner, but I am completely happy, and I love my freedom,” explained the actress in 2020, according to ESSENCE Magazine. “I do date, but I do not want anything less than something that’s amazing.”

The Nappily Ever After star added, “And if it’s not gonna be that, I’m just gonna keep being my free-spirit self. I was talking to a friend of mine who’s around my age, and there is a thing when people look at you, and they’re like, ‘So…’ as if you’re failing because you’re not married. I have so much love in my life. And maybe I will have a life partner. But I don’t know.”

5 Takeaways From Sabrina Carpenter’s New Album Man’s Best Friend

5 Takeaways From Sabrina Carpenter’s New Album Man’s Best Friend

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

After years toiling in the post-Disney-star pop ecosystem, Sabrina Carpenter finally broke through last year with Short n’ Sweet, her sixth album, which rode to pop ubiquity (and strong Grammys recognition) off the back of “Espresso,” “Please Please Please” and “Taste” its three catchy, sharply written megahit singles. Since then, she’s staged a gigantic global arena tour and, somehow, found time to record a follow-up: Man’s Best Friend, which once again finds her working with Jack Antonoff, John Ryan, and the songwriter Amy Allen.

Like its predecessor, Man’s Best Friend positions Carpenter as a kind of TikTok-era Mae West: a sex symbol who’s in on the joke, and who can flick between sweet and savage in milliseconds. This time around, there’s a little more sadness and frustration in the mix—Short n’ Sweet might have made frequent reference to the irresistible nature of Carpenter, but this record pokes some holes in that self-confidence as she sings about men who are disinterested, rude, or just plain annoying. Here are five key takeaways.

Provocation with Purpose

Man’s Best Friend was already a media sensation before it even came out, thanks to its vaguely provocative cover—Carpenter, on all fours, with a man in a suit grabbing her hair—and its title, which some fans assumed was being presented literally and uncritically. In truth, the presentation of the album makes a lot of sense when you listen to it: Many of these songs, like “My Man on Willpower” and “We Almost Broke Up Again,” center on Carpenter’s inability to cut herself off from men who trifle with her emotions or make her feel undervalued. (On her being treated, in other words, like a dog.)

Euro Swag

One of the songs on Sabrina Carpenter’s pre-show playlist is ABBA’s “If It Wasn’t For The Nights,” an underrated and relatively obscure from 1979’s Voulez-Vous, written by Björn Ulvaeus about how his own sense of workaholism was the only thing getting him through his divorce from Agnetha Faltskog. Carpenter’s ABBA standom comes into full bloom on Man’s Best Friend, which draws distinct influence from the lush white European pop of the ’70s and ’80s. There are shades of “I’ve Been Waiting For You” on “We Almost Broke Up Again Last Night,” while “Nobody’s Son” plays like a love letter to the Swedish pop industry, somehow nodding to “One of Us,” Ace of Base’s “The Sign” and Jens Lekman’s “The Opposite of Hallelujah” in equal measure.

Then there’s “Goodbye,” the album’s triumphantly acerbic closer, which channels “Voulez-Vous” and the hearty chug of “Take a Chance on Me.” If Carpenter wants to stay in this lane for a while, there’s still plenty of weird ABBA music from which to mine inspiration: personally, I’d love to hear her take on “Visitors”-esque paranoid coldwave.

Kate Cassidy, Singer’s Sister Share Tributes

Liam Payne‘s loved ones are honoring him on what would have been his 32nd birthday. On Friday, his sister Nicola shared a heartfelt tribute, recalling the time they spent together on his birthday last year, just two months before his death. His girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, also posted a touching letter to Payne.

“A year ago today, we were so full of hope and excitement for what the years ahead would bring you,” Nicola wrote on Instagram Friday, sharing a carousel of images of the two of them from over the years. “That night, celebrating your birthday with bowling and McDonald’s, we celebrated you, your show, your dreams, and spoke of all the plans you had for the future.”

“We ended the evening with a hug, telling you how proud we were and how much we loved you,” she added. “If I had known that would be the last time I’d see you, I would have said so much more.”

Nicola said she wished she could step “into a time machine” to relive that night and hug him once again, ask him more questions, and “write it down so I’d never forget.” She directed some sweet words to Liam, writing that she hopes he’s “at peace.”

“I miss you every single day, and I don’t think there will ever be a day that I don’t,” she wrote. “I want to wish you the happiest heavenly birthday. Wherever you are, I hope you’re celebrating.”

Cassidy also shared some photos of the two from over the years, writing that it “breaks my heart” to not give him a physical birthday card or hear his laugh once again.

“In your 31 years here on this earth, you brought so much joy, happiness and hope to so many- especially to me. I hope you know how brightly you still shine, even from up there,” Cassidy wrote. “I would give up years of my life just to give you a few more. I miss making memories with you. I miss having things to look forward to together.”

Trending Stories

She added, “But today, my birthday gift to you is my strength. I promise you I will celebrate you extra today, honor your life, and cherish the beautiful times we’ve had. August 29th will be a date that sits in my heart for the rest of my life. I love you so much.”

The singer died on Oct. 16, 2024, after falling from the balcony of a hotel room in Buenos Aires. A Rolling Stone investigation included accounts from his inner circle describing the days before his tragic death. Netflix recently released Building the Band, in which Liam served as a mentor for new groups in formation. He was honored on the show as well.

Sphere Entertainment Stock Gains as ‘Wizard of Oz’ Debuts

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Buzz surrounding the return of Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion may have helped make Sphere Entertainment Co. the best-performing music stock for the week ended Aug. 29. Sphere Entertainment shares rose 6.8% to $45.35 in an otherwise muted week for music stocks.

On Thursday, the Sphere venue in Las Vegas debuted — to both positive and negative reviews — its revamped version of the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. The premiere was prefaced by a heavy national media campaign that showed both the love for the 1939 original film and curiosity about the state-of-the-art, multi-sensory venue. To date, Sphere had sold 215,000 tickets for The Wizard of Oz at over $100 apiece.

Related

Sphere Entertainment shares have gained 13.7% in the last two weeks, turning a 5.1% year-to-date loss into a 6.8% gain this year. Aside from the attention gained by The Wizard of Oz, the venue has racked up some wins in recent months. The Sphere recently concluded a Kenny Chesney residency in June and will commence with a Zac Brown Band residency in December. In addition, the venue added 14 additional Backstreet Boys performances to extend the group’s well-received run into February 2026.

The Billboard Global Music Index (BGMI), a float-adjusted index of 19 publicly traded music companies, fell 1.5% to 2,979.62 in its second consecutive weekly decline. (The index originally had 20 stocks, but Believe was taken private and no longer trades on the Euronext Paris exchange.) With a majority of music stocks in the red this week, the index’s year-to-date gain dropped to 40.2%.

U.S. indexes fell as core U.S. inflation, which excludes food and energy costs, rose to 2.9% in July, the highest level since February. The Nasdaq composite fell 1.6% to 21,142.01 and the S&P 500 dropped 0.1%. International indexes were mixed. The U.K.’s FTSE 100 fell 1.4% to 9,187.34 but South Korea’s KOSPI composite index rose 0.5% to 3,186.01 and China’s Shanghai Composite Index improved 0.8% to 3,857.93.

Other than Sphere Entertainment, only three stocks had gains above 1%: Cumulus Media (up 6.3%), Anghami (up 4.1%) and MSG Entertainment (up 3.5%). Three of the most valuable music companies had gains of less than 1%: SiriusXM (up 0.8%), HYBE (up 0.5%) and Live Nation (up 0.5%).

With most music stocks losing ground this week, the BGMI was dragged down by the losses of its three most valuable music companies. Spotify fell 1.5% to $682.34, taking the stock 13.1% below the all-time high of $785.00 set on June 27. Universal Music Group dropped 2.7%, bringing its year-to-date gain to 1.0%. And Tencent Music Entertainment sank 3.2% to $24.53, although a blistering first half of 2025 has helped put the stock up 120.0% this year.

Two K-pop companies were among the week’s worst performers. SM Entertainment fell 3.9% to 138,800 KRW ($99.82) and JYP Entertainment was down 5.6% to 72,700 KRW ($52.29). The biggest loser of the week was music streamer LiveOne, which fell 8.3% to $0.55 and extended its year-to-date loss to 59.9%.

Our recurring Songs of the Week column highlights the best new tracks from the last seven days. Find our new favorites on our Top Songs playlist, and for more great songs from emerging artists, listen to our New Sounds playlist. This week, we’ve listening to tunes from Geese, Die Spitz, crushed, and others.

After — “Outbound”

If Hilary Duff’s 2003 album Metamorphosis was a sacred text, indie pop duo After have been on quite the mission trip. It’s impossible not to feel transported to the early aughts listening to their dreamy pop-rock cuts, and even their music videos double down with of-the-era transitions and slo-mo close-ups. “Outbound” is more wistful than their usual fare, but it brings an irresistible sweetness and a main character energy. One listen and you might find yourself thinking, “You know what? Everything is going to be alright.” — Paolo Ragusa

crushed — “oneshot”

We’re back in the lush crushed universe with their new song “oneshot,” and each song off their upcoming album no scope, out September 26th, has been a standout offering. “oneshot” reprises the duo’s signature trip-hop percussion but blends the touch of digital with a good helping of organic guitar and crystal-clear vocals. They perfectly capture the distance between dreamy sedation and the immediacy of strong emotions, letting their most anthemic modes trail off with a touch of reverb and a familiar haze. — P. Ragusa

Die Spitz — “Punishers”

“Punishers,” the latest taste of Die Spitz’ upcoming album Something to Consume, does exactly that — punishes. Heavy, hooky, and riddled with feelings of frustration, the track finds much-needed catharsis via massive guitar tones, wailing lines, and a couple of yelps — you know, for good measure. It’s a banger, and one with something to say. — Jonah Krueger

Geese — “100 Horses”

Yes, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got engaged on Tuesday, but something even more amazing happened that day: Geese dropped this swampy, eccentric, war-themed new song, “100 Horses.” Their haywire, restless energy has been thoroughly retained from their debut (which, shockingly, is only about 4-years-old), but Geese are currently sounding like five different bands combined into one, twisting what would be a ‘classic rock’ sound into something that could easily collapse into itself. At the center is some particularly intriguing poetry from Cameron Winter, who swears he saw 100 horses dancing — or was it 124? — and lands on the unavoidable truth that “there is always dance music at times of war.” “100 Horses” is a remarkable piece of rock music from Geese. — P. Ragusa

Julianna Riolino — “Full Moon”

Taken from her upcoming sophomore album, Echo in the Dust, “Full Moon” finds singer-songwriter Julianna Riolino locking into a driving indie rock groove. Synth lines and the lead vocals prance over a constant drum groove and bass line until it feels like the whole thing might fall apart. Instead, the tune blooms in an array of shimmering guitars and Riolino amping up the energy of her performance, resulting in a satisfying, beautiful payoff. — J. Krueger

Maneka — “shallowing” and “dimelo”

This week, Philadelphia’s Maneka announced his latest album, bathes and listens, by dropping not one but two lead singles, “shallowing” and “dimelo.” The two songs serve as the first two songs on the tracklist, respectively, with the former showcasing Maneka’s talent for dynamic songwriting and melancholic atmospheres. The latter, in contrast, is blistering, noisy, and unrelenting. It’s a wonderful one-two punch of creative, compelling indie rock. — J. Krueger

Paul Dally — “Not All Bad Boys Are Bad All the Time”

Not only does “Not All Bad Boys Are Bad All the Time,” the latest offering from Paul Dally, have an incredibly fun title, it’s also an incredibly fun two-and-a-half minutes of shuffling folk rock. While it’s not exactly an ass-shaking club banger, it is a tune that’s bound to be a breezy, swinging singalong at any of Dally’s future live shows. Serving as the lead single for his newest record, RAVE, “Not All Bad Boys Are Bad All the Time” kicks off Dally’s latest album cycle on solid footing. — J. Krueger
