LaMelo Ball And PUMA Hoops Introduce MB.05 At Los Angeles Pop-Up

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

LaMelo Ball and PUMA Hoops hosted a fan-forward event to celebrate the release of the newest silhouette in LaMelo Ball’s signature franchise. A line wrapped down Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles on Tuesday (Aug. 26) with eager sports enthusiasts hoping to get the chance to be the first to shop the MB.05 World Tour drop, as well as meet the NBA star.

The MB.05 World Tour was designed in collaboration with Melo and inspired by his swagger both on and off the court. Available in fluorescent pink with iridescent detailing throughout, the design features barbed wire detailing as a nod to his tattoos. Additional design features include a molded skull and a “1” in the outsole, described as a nod to Ball’s one-of-one status. The sneakers are also finished with NITROFOAM™ cushioning for athletic comfort.

LaMelo first joined the PUMA Hoops family in 2020 when he was still a teenager.

“LaMelo’s physical gifts and dynamic play on the court, as well as his unique sense of personal style, make him a natural fit for PUMA,” expressed Adam Petrick, Global Director of Brand and Marketing at PUMA at the time. “We are thrilled to add him to our roster of talented athletes, and at just 19 years old, we can’t wait to see his impact on the broader culture surrounding basketball.”

For those who were unable to attend the pop-up, the MB.05 World Tour sneakers launch in stores on Friday (Aug. 29), for $125 at PUMA.com, the PUMA mobile app, and the PUMA NYC Flagship store. Additionally, the shoes will be sold at Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, Champs Sports, and other key retailers.  Take a look inside the event below.

Haruomi Hosono: Tropical Dandy Album Review

Haruomi Hosono: Tropical Dandy Album Review

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

This displacement of time and style is at the core of Hosono’s music, and is an extension of what appeals to him about exotica. (“It’s fun how it feels phony,” he said in 2020.) But beyond a giddy penchant for experimentation, he repeatedly complicates simple authentic/inauthentic dichotomies and notions of directional influence. “Hurricane Dorothy” is named after John Ford’s 1937 adventure film The Hurricane—about a Polynesian sailor who gets imprisoned—and its lead actress Dorothy Lamour. He sings about the woman’s qualities as simultaneously Caribbean, Arabian, and Slavic, recognizing that false representation is easy to swallow when it stays in the realm of desire. Musically, it’s an updated take on Denny’s own exotica, but it also stands as a continuation of Hosono’s work in Happy End and Caramel Mama (later known as Tin Pan Alley). This was no longer just Hollywood nostalgia, but Japan’s own utopic artificiality.

Hosono wasn’t the only one making music like this in Japan. Makoto Kubota, who appears on the album and inspired its title (he called Hosono the titular phrase), released Hawaii Champroo in 1975. The LP was co-produced by Hosono and maintained a seamless, tonally consistent blend of Hawaiian, American, and Okinawan music. And while Tropical Dandy is purposeful in its genre-blending, it can feel like a novelty with songs like “Peking Duck,” which features a Brazilian rhythm, spurts of pentatonic melodies, and lyrics about Yokohama’s Chinatown and Singin’ in the Rain. Hosono’s music is a little miracle in this way, honoring the fact that ideas—musical and otherwise—are always circulating, mutating, and inevitably rendered as approximations. When the Peking Opera-style singing appears on the otherwise folk-rock song “Kinukaido,” it feels less like a mocking insult—compare it with Mighty Sparrow’s take the year prior—than an exaltation of the gap between the real and fraudulent. This isn’t because Hosono is shamelessly ignorant, but because he knows that music is inherently personal, and that one’s own experiences are a prism for everyone else’s—why try to hide that?

The most gorgeous track on Tropical Dandy thrives on such transparency. The spare, gentle samba rhythm on “Honey Moon” is dotted with tender hints of steel pan. Hosono’s band uses synths and guitars to simulate the instrument’s timbre, but it’s not quite right—and better for it. Getting a mere taste of these bright, chiming sounds leaves a craving for the genuine thing, which always feels within reach. But as he sings about swaying hair and relishing the twilight, the metallic sounds start to crumble. Hosono understands that exotica is all about dangling the impossibly, ostensibly real in front of you, creating a longing for something you’ve never known. He says as much on the gorgeously straightforward “Sanji no Komori Uta,” where he talks about putting on an old record and singing a song—a routine that serves as his lullaby. That’s all music ever is: a gateway to your dreams.

Globle answer today – here’s the answer and hints for August 30

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Looking for a variant of the popular Wordle game? Here’s one for you that can be rather challenging: Globle. Like Wordle, players are tasked with guessing the game’s selected country for the day.

However, unlike Wordle, players have unlimited guesses for Globle so you won’t have to worry about losing unless you’re ready to concede defeat. Even for geography aficionados, guessing the Globle answer each day can be a real challenge. To help you out, we’ve included some hints in this page to help steer towards the right answer. If you’d rather just know the answer to keep your streak going, we have that too.

What’re you waiting for? Let’s get guessing!

How to play Globle

To play Globle, you’re first going to have to access the game’s website. To start playing, simply enter in the name of any country of your choice. You’ll then get a colour match for that country indicating how close to or far away you are from the answer.

The deeper the colour, the closer you are. After a couple of guesses you will slowly be able to narrow down the answer. A good tip is to pick larger countries that share borders with other countries. You can clear large sections of the map this way. Early on, you might also want to try varying your guesses between countries in different continents to narrow down your options.

Luis R Conriquez Breaks Out of Corridos With Album 'Meneo'

Luis R Conriquez Breaks Out of Corridos With Album ‘Meneo’

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Luis R Conriquez has been itching to make a rap and reggaeton album for a long time. Sure, he’s a corridos artist at heart, but he’d always wondered if other genres could work, too. “With everything going on with corridos,” he tells Rolling Stone over Zoom, “it made eve more sense to do this. We were already changing things up.”

In recent months, several corridos stars, including Conriquez, have stepped back from the genre as the spotlight on narco-themed music has grown. A few months ago, Conriquez even had to cut a show short after fans expressed frustration over his decision not to play corridos at the show in Mexico. But now, he’s ready to pivot and roll with the punches in the changing landscape.

On Friday, the Mexican star dropped Meneo, a nine-track record experimenting with reggaeton, EDM-cumbia, and raps sounds. He taps reggaeton heavy hitters like El Alfa and Anuel AA, and also Mexican artists Gabito Ballesteros and Fuerza Regida, to explore new musical territory.

The shift isn’t that far-fetched for Conriquez. He previously joined Tito Double P and Joel De La P on “Dembow Bélico,” a track that pushed all three Mexican singers outside their corrido comfort zones, back in 2023. And it became an instant hit. On Meneo, he includes “De Fresa y Coco,” a reggaeton mexa track he released in 2023 with Los Dareyes de la Sierra and Edgardo Nuñez, which has no traditional Mexican instrumentation. Since its release, the song has become a nightclub staple, racking up more than 155 million streams on Spotify.

“I have people’s acceptance despite being someone who sings corridos,” Conriquez says. “I said, ‘I’m going to try to change my music a little. I’m going to try an album with different styles — whether reggaeton, rap.’”

He’s especially proud to expand into new genres while collaborating with reggaeton heavyweights like Ryan Castro, who will appear on the second part of Meneo, which is set to drop next month. The album cover itself nods to reggaeton’s roots, showing Conriquez looking over a city with the flags of Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Colombia flying high.

“Like the Colombians want to sing corridos, we want to sing reggaeton too. It’s fucking cool to see more Mexicans singing reggaeton. We all gotta unite,” he says. “The album is a two-part puzzle, and I love it.”

Trending Stories

Even as he explores reggaeton and other sounds, Conriquez promises his corrido identity stays intact. On Meneo, even includes a rap track, “Mexicano Soy,” blending trumpet and 808 beats, where he raps about his Mexican roots and reflects on his upbringing.

“Luis R will always be Luis R,” he says. “I hope people will support this new version of me.”

Lumineers’ Fraites on Scoring Springsteen’s ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

As Deliver Me From Nowhere, the Scott Cooper-directed biopic about the making of Bruce Springsteen’s moody, bleak Nebraska album premiered at Telluride Film Festival in Colorado on Friday night (Aug. 29), viewers were the first to hear Jeremiah Fraites’ emotional score.

Explore

See latest videos, charts and news

The Lumineers co-founder moved into composing with the film, which held special meaning for him. “I grew up in New Jersey, so Bruce Springsteen’s music was always a part of my landscape, whether learning how to drive to eating at 24-hour diners, his music was always with me,” Fraites tells Billboard.  “Collaborating with Scott Cooper on Deliver Me From Nowhere was a career high and personal privilege. What Scott has done with this film is rare—he’s captured the quiet fragility and unfiltered honesty of Bruce’s life during the making of Nebraska. It was an honor to support his vision.”

The 20th Century Studios film chronicles Springsteen writing and recording the 1982 album, recorded on a 4-track recorder in his New Jersey bedroom, and the emotional upheaval he experienced as he dealt with his growing fame and his conflicted past. Jeremy Allen White stars as Springsteen, while Jeremy Strong plays his longtime manager Jon Landau.

For Fraites, the challenge was to honor Springsteen’s work without parroting it.

“I didn’t approach the score by trying to imitate Bruce’s sound—there’s no way to replicate that. But the emotional tone of Nebraska—its restraint, its space, its raw honesty—definitely informed the way I thought about the music. It was more about feeling than style,” he says.

“I chose to ground the score with an upright piano I playfully call Firewood—a beat-up instrument so devalued it was once considered fit only to burn,” he continues. “That imperfection felt right for Bruce’s story: raw, unvarnished, and rooted in resilience. Its rough edges and worn tone captured a sense of grit and authenticity that a pristine concert piano simply couldn’t.”

It’s a big fall season for Fraites, who also scored Stephen King’s The Long Walk, with the Lionsgate film opening Sept. 12. Additionally, The Lumineers continue on their 2025 tour, which includes a mix of stadium and amphitheater dates, including Chicago’s Soldier Field Saturday (Aug. 30) and Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 6.

Deliver Me From Nowhere opens wide theatrically Oct. 24.

Today is Friday, which means there are a ton of new releases to look forward to from some of your favorite Hip-Hop artists. To help you unwind and enjoy the weekend, check out VIBE’s picks of songs and albums you should hear and add to your soundtrack of weekend festivities.

  • Joey Bada$$ – ‘Lonely At The Top’

On Lonely At The Top, Joey Bada$$ returns with the poise of a seasoned heavyweight, opting for precision over bravado after his recent coast-to-coast sparring in the name of rap supremacy.

The album is a welcome return from one of hip-hop’s more formidable lyricists, who sounds reinvigorated yet contemplative. He makes a grand entrance on “Dark Aura,” his lyrical command riding effortlessly over a plush Chuck Strangers and Moo Latte production.

Standouts like “Highroller,” featuring A$AP Ferg and Kelz2busy, sharpen Joey’s edge (“Every day is a dice roll, might get his head cracked”), while “Swank White” finds the Pro Era rep revealing the burden behind success: “Nobody ever told me that the top would be this lonely.”

“BK’s Finest” brings it home, a mellow Medina-rooted posse cut with Rome Streetz, Kai Ca$h, and CJ Fly. Tracks like “Speedin’ In The Rain” and “Still” (with Ab-Soul and Rapsody) further solidify Joey’s focused, refined return. – Preezy Brown

  • Key Glock – ‘Glockaveli: All Eyez On Key’

With All Eyez On Key, Key Glock cements his status as Memphis rap royalty, extending Glockaveli (Deluxe) with eleven new tracks that feel less like leftovers and more like a victory lap.

The Paper Route Empire boss moves with the confidence of a man who knows the throne is his—“I move like Trump when I’m in Memphis,” he raps on “Set In Stone,” a bold declaration of power and presence.

From the thunderous bounce of “Fabo,” a pounding homage to the D4L legend, to the homegrown pride of “South Memphis Patriot,” Glock flexes both roots and reach. “Fashion Killa” and “Bottega Bag” drip with swagger, proving his style matches his grit.

All Eyez On Key isn’t just a glorified extendo—it’s Glizzock doubling down on dominance, which doesn’t appear to be tapering off anytime soon. – PB

  • Rakim – ‘The Re-Up’

Rakim - 'The Re-Up' Cover ArtRakim - 'The Re-Up' Cover Art
Image Credit: © 2025 Holy Toledo Productions / Compound Interest

The Re-Up finds Rakim revisiting God’s Network: Reb7rth with surgical precision, delivering a remix project that elevates the original into new territory without losing its core essence.

Swapping out beats and weaving in fresh verses from a deep bench of lyrical assassins—including Method Man, the late Prodigy, Eddie Kaine, and 38 Spesh—the album feels less like a retread and more like a refined cipher.

Veterans like Kool G Rap, Planet Asia, and Ras Kass trade bars with underground standouts like Hus KingPin and Sally Green, bridging eras through sharp wordplay and grit.

It’s the perfect companion piece to Reb7rth—a reimagined, reinforced version that further affirms Rakim’s role as both architect and active participant in hip-hop’s continued evolution. – PB

  • Offset – ‘KIARI:Offset (Deluxe Album)’

Offset ‘KIARI:OFFSET’ cover artOffset ‘KIARI:OFFSET’ cover art
Image Credit: 2025 UMG Recordings, Inc.

Offset continued the momentum of his third studio album KIARI by sharing the deluxe version. He added five new tracks to the LP, including an alternative remix of “Bodies” featuring fast-rising producer BNYX and rock band Drowning Pool.”

“Athlete” is a strong standout track as well. “Swing My Way” was a record fans wanted for a long time, so it is good to see this get added to what was already an immaculate listening experience.

Offset is primed to have one of his biggest years ever as a solo artist, and this deluxe album was a great way to keep the attention on him after a stacked release weekend. – Armon Sadler

  • DJ Khaled Featuring Post Malone, YoungBoy Never Broke Again – “Brother”

DJ Khaled, Post Malone & YoungBoy Never Broke Again “Brother” cover artDJ Khaled, Post Malone & YoungBoy Never Broke Again “Brother” cover art
Image Credit: 2025 DJ Khaled Productions, Inc., under exclusive license to Republic Records, a division of UMG Recordings, Inc.

DJ Khaled is a man of many surprises. This week, he popped out with two releases: a Reggae posse cut and a pop-rap effort “Brother” featuring Post Malone and YoungBoy Never Broke Again.

YoungBoy skates over the drums, hi-hats, and synths. Posty also sounds great here, but the biggest question is the longevity of this record. The music space seemingly moved past Khaled a few albums ago.

Even tapping a cult fave like YB and mainstream superstar like Posty doesn’t seem to be the boost he needs. He also lost his go-to guy in Drake. Nonetheless, this is a good song. – AS

  • Bossman Dlow – “Flood” & “Resurrect The Trap”

Bossman Dlow “Flood” & “Resurrec The Trapt” cover artBossman Dlow “Flood” & “Resurrec The Trapt” cover art
Image Credit: 2025 Alamo Records, LLC/Sony Music Entertainment

Bossman Dlow is incredibly talented, so we mean this with love. Even though the production on “Flood” and “Resurrect The Trap” is a bit different than his usual work.

Still, his great sound is getting a bit repetitive, overdone, and, thus, boring. He can rap well, but it is hard to distinguish his new music from his old music.

This may work for some people, and we don’t want to yuck their yum, but how does he hit the next level if he doesn’t try to do something different? Rap needs stars, but stars need to show and prove to be given the acclaim. – AS

  • Che Noir, The Other Guys – ‘No Validation’

Che Noir - 'No Validation' Cover ArtChe Noir - 'No Validation' Cover Art
Image Credit: ℗ 2025 HiPNOTT Records

With No Validation, Che Noir delivers yet another powerful statement, further solidifying her reputation as one of the most consistent and lyrically razor-sharp voices in Hip-Hop.

Produced entirely by The Other Guys, the album is both focused and fluid, a seamless blend of soulful textures and heavy bars.

From the reflective grit of “Incense Burning,” where Che reminds us, “Wasted time is the enemy of success,” to the hard-hitting “Smooth Jazz”—a misleading title for a track that barrels forward with 38 Spesh and the energy of a freight train—Che moves with clarity and conviction.

The project boasts a strong supporting cast, including Skyzoo, Ransom, Jae Skeese, Smoke DZA, and Jack Davey, each lending weight to a tracklist full of standouts like “Moroccan Mint” and “Dollar Tree.”

Che calls the collaboration one of her most memorable creative experiences this year, and it shows in the quality of the music presented. – PB

  • DJ Snake & Don Toliver – “Something Wrong”

DJ Snaked & Don Toliver “Something Wrong” cover artDJ Snaked & Don Toliver “Something Wrong” cover art
Image Credit: 2025 DJ Snake Music Productions Limited, under exclusive license to Interscope Records

There are very few people who bring the best out of artists like DJ Snake. “Something Wrong” is definitely Don Toliver’s signature sound, but there is something about this record compared to his previous releases that feels more inspired.

The production has a slight sexy drill influence, but blends trap, house, and rock into one of the most immersive beats Don has ever crooned over. This is one of the most satisfying two-minute and 22-second listens of the year, and has high replay value.

Selfishly, we wish this song came out sooner because it could have done real damage throughout the summer but beggars can’t be choosers. – AS

  • Skepta – ‘Skepta.. Fred’ EP

Skepta - 'Fred Again' EP Cover ArtSkepta - 'Fred Again' EP Cover Art
Image Credit: ℗ 2025 Epic Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment UK Limited under exclusive licence from Big Smoke Ltd/Fred Gibson / Warner Music UK Limited

Skepta and Fred again.. continue what has been a strong year for London artists on Skepta .. Fred. The opener “Back 2 Back” interpolates Central Cee and Lil Baby’s “BAND4BAND,” but primarily lives within an EDM wheelhouse.

“London” is a bit darker, but Big Skep raps his arse off. Fred gave him the perfect canvas to shine bright. Overall, it is a strong five-song, 16-minute effort and Skepta in a different element.

Hate to sound selfish as we review his new EP, but it has been five years since a new album and it would be nice to get one between the way he’s been killing features and this new EP. – AS

Charlie Kaufman’s new short film, How to Shoot a Ghost, just got its first trailer. The 27-minute film is produced by Unmade, a production company that Halsey appears to have co-founded with her manager, Anthony Li, and her fiance, Avan Jogia. Unmade is credited alongside several other producers in the program for Venice Biennale, where the film is premiering. Watch the trailer below, via Variety.

Jessie Buckley and Josef Akiki star in the film, which has a screenplay by Eva H.D. and centers on a pair of outsiders, a translator and photographer, as they materialize in a realm of the afterlife that is also Athens, Greece. Rufus and Martha Wainwright have covered Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” for the film. Kaufman and Eva H.D. also collaborated on the 2023 short Jackals & Fireflies.

The How to Shoot a Ghost trailer arrives on the same day that Halsey releases an anniversary edition of her debut album, Badlands. She’ll begin the Back to Badlands Tour in October.

How to earn ‘Borderlands 4’ Twitch Drops, full rewards list

Borderlands 4 has unveiled its Twitch Drops campaign during the game’s launch, where you can earn some unique cosmetics by watching some Twitch streamers check out the game.

Here is a full breakdown of the Borderlands 4 Twitch Drops campaign and the rewards you can earn.

How to earn ‘Borderlands 4’ Twitch Drops

To earn Borderlands 4‘s Twitch Drops, you will need to log in and link your SHiFT Account and Twitch Account together. You then need to watch any livestream in the Borderlands 4 category, on the official Borderlands 4 Twitch channel or on the Gearbox Twitch channel for 30 minutes between August 29, 2025, and September 29, 2025, to earn the drop.

The reward you get is the “Watch, Drop, and Roll” ECHO-4 Drone Skin cosmetic, which is your personal companion who accompanies you and directs you to objectives throughout the game, no matter which Vault Hunter you choose.

The skin will then be available when you log in to Borderlands 4 upon release and enter your SHiFT account details. This will include the Nintendo Switch 2 version, which launches about a month after the game on other platforms.

It is kind of surprising that there is only one reward, as many games opt for several Twitch Drops on a weekly rotation or across an initial launch period. Either way, the fact that you only need to watch 30 minutes of any stream (which can easily be left on in the background) should make this easy for anyone to earn.

For even more on the game, check out the Nintendo Switch 2 release date of the game and what early previews have said about the game. Gearbox has confirmed the writing will be better with this entry. Be sure to stick around for launch, as we will have more coverage and details about Borderlands 4.

The Neighbourhood Reunites After 2021 Hiatus, Drummer Firing

The Neighbourhood is back. On Friday, the band shared an Instagram Story post announcing that the group — including drummer Brandon Fried — reunited in November 2024 following a three-year hiatus. The members are now ready to share their “next chapter” with fans.

“In November 2021, after 10 years together, The Neighbourhood went on an indefinite hiatus,” the band wrote. “As we entered our early 30s, we were faced with life outside of the band for the first time in our adult lives. Breakups, family struggles, and personal challenges.”

The band — which originally comprised vocalist Jesse Rutherford, guitarists Zachary Abels and Jeremiah Freedman, bassist Michael Margott, and Fried — also added that the drummer will be returning to the band after he was kicked out for groping the Marías’ Maria Zardoya in late 2022.

At the time, Zardoya alleged that Fried had groped her under a table and called him a “complete creep.” The Neighbourhood acted swiftly and booted him from the band. Fried admitted to his actions and publicly apologized to Zardoya saying it was a “reflection of who I become while under the influence.” He promised to seek help.

“In November 2022, it became evident that Brandon’s struggles with substance abuse needed immediate attention, and we agreed it was best for him to step away and focus on his recovery,” the band wrote in their statement. “To those who spoke up and helped bring this to light, thank you. Your courage helped us get our friend the support he needed.”

The band added: “We are proud of Brandon, the changes he has made, and the progress he continues to make in his life. Being in each other’s lives for over 20 years, when one of us is going through something, it impacts all of us.”

The Neighbourhood also shared that the group had “reunited in the studio” in November 2024, and teased their official return. “Thank you to everyone who kept the music alive while we were away,” the band wrote. “We couldn’t feel more honored to do what we do and can’t wait to share this next chapter with you.”

The band’s last release before the hiatus was Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones in September 2020. Since then, Rutherford released a pair of albums, 2023’s &ONE and 2024’s Jesse®.
