Warner Bros. Pictures shared the official teaser for Wuthering Heights—writer, director, and producer Emerald Fennell’s forthcoming film adaptation of the famed Emily Brontë novel. The clip reveals that Charli XCX is contributing original songs to the film. Watch the teaser video below.

Wuthering Heights is Fennell’s third feature film, following 2020’s Promising Young Woman and 2023’s Saltburn. It stars Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff. The movie is scored by Anthony Willis, who scored Fennell’s first two features. Wuthering Heights hits theaters on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

Charli XCX’s ‘Erupcja’ role almost went to Clairo

by jummy84 September 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Charli XCX has revealed that Clairo was also considered for her role in her upcoming independent film Erupcja.

In October, news emerged that the ‘360’ singer had filmed the movie in secret in Warsaw during the height of ‘Brat’ summer.

Director Pete Ohs confirmed that Erupcja, which means “eruption” in Polish, will tell the story of the combustible relationship between two women – a local Polish citizen played by Lena Góra and a tourist, to be played by Charli XCX.

In a new interview with Filmmaker Magazine, Charli and Ohs have spoken about their chance meeting in New York bar Clandestino in May 2024 where they were introduced by a mutual friend Said Harris.

Speaking about the improvised nature of the film’s production, Ohs spoke about developing Charli’s character Bethany. “Okay, we have a character named Bethany who’s shy and what is she doing in Warsaw?” he said. “That’s the fun of making movies this way, where it just all becomes about asking questions, finding what answers feel good, and just like moving through the story and discovering it as we go.”

Charli responded: “I remember quite early on, we were talking a lot about the singer Clairo in comparison with Bethany. You were like, ‘I really like Clairo.’ So we kept brining Clairo into the mix when we were thinking about who Bethany was, which is funny, because as a musician, she’s sort of like the complete opposite to who I am as a musician.”

While it appears that Clairo was in consideration during the development process, Ohs soon decided that XCX would play Bethany and they were filming three months later.

Although they tried to keep it low-key, the film’s “secrecy” was blown by the musician’s fame. “[Charli] definitely got recognized a bunch of times, Ohs said last year. “She was always really sweet. She took selfies with many a Polish fan…”

Erupcja will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday (September 4). No general release has been announced.

Charli is also starring in 100 Nights Of Hero, adapted from a graphic novel by Isabel Greenberg. That film is having its world premiere at Venice International Film Festival on Saturday (September 6), followed by a US release on December 5. A UK release date has not been announced. She is also set to star in the adventure-comedy Sacrifice alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Evans.

Charli has also proven herself to be an avid film fan too, making regular recommendations via TikTok, leaving reviews on Letterboxd, and pitching an It Girl edition of the Final Destination franchise. She also recently shared a scene from her upcoming mockumentary film, The Moment.

The Rap World's Obsession With Snitching Is Ruining The Atlanta Scene

The Rap World’s Obsession With Snitching Is Ruining The Atlanta Scene

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Young Thug’s rise in pop culture stemmed from the “post-verbal” brilliance of his indecipherable yet captivating delivery; he has now plummeted to a low point in his career, thanks to crystal-clear audio clips that seemingly expose him going against his own word. Since being released from jail on a plea deal last year, Thug has repeatedly derided Gunna, his onetime friend and YSL trial codefendant, as a “rat” for his 2022 Alford Plea deal. But, after online sleuths uncovered a two-hour 2015 interrogation where he told cops that his friend Jimmy “Peewee Roscoe” Winfrey gave drugs to Lil Wayne, he’s facing the same “snitch” allegations from rap fans on social media, as well as from other rappers in Atlanta.

For the past week, Thug’s been the target of rap media figures like DJ Akademiks and Wack 100, who’ve been discussing the audio clips and his street credibility in hours-long livestreams. It will be difficult for Thug and the Atlanta rap scene at large to regain its former standing in the music world, and it’s hard not to feel like the damage is self-inflicted. If Thug had come home from prison and refrained from mentioning Gunna, these clips may have never been released by fan pages like X account @Gunnaupdates.

It’s unclear how the videos surfaced online. When Rolling Stone sent an X direct message to the @Gunnaupdates account, which posted some of the first clips of the footage, they replied that “a few fans have been sitting on these for a while now,” and noted that they are available via a public records request. Days later, they claimed, “Every blog gets [the clips] from here first, but I can’t give my sources.” Via email, a representative for the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that individuals can obtain public records, such as jail calls, through an Open Records Request. Last year, some of Thug’s jail calls with his girlfriend, Mariah The Scientist, also appeared online.

It was initially unclear how Thug felt about Gunna after his Alford Plea, where he affirmed to Judge Glenda J. Kendrick that YSL was a gang that “must end.” One of Thug’s associates, YSL Mondo, told Rolling Stone in January 2023 that there were elements of the case that Thug was “disappointed about,” but declined to specify. Soon after Gunna came home, artists like Lil Baby and Meek Mill, as well as Thug’s sister Dolly, unfollowed him on Instagram. In September of 2023, Thug’s father said he loved Gunna, who, in his estimation, “hasn’t done anything whatsoever that can hurt us on this case.” After Thug’s release, the YSL labelhead told GQ, “I know everybody wonders” about their relationship, then said, “I don’t know” where they stand.

Editor’s picks

However, Thug’s true feelings were soon revealed. Last November, he posted to X, “Gunna stop acting like we friends on the internet, I don’t know u my guy.” In July, he posted, “If u a rapper and a rat, u just gotta go gospel twin.” During the Diddy trial, he derided Kid Cudi as a “rat” for testifying about Combs allegedly blowing up his car. Fans went from wondering when his Uy Scuti album was dropping to pondering why he’s so obsessed with snitching. In August, a track leaked from Lil Baby’s upcoming project, where Thug raps, “Only reason I fucked with you Gunna, it was cause of Troup,” referring to Keith “King” Troup, a late figure in the Atlanta hip-hop scene who united him with Gunna.

The recently released footage further culled the depths of his ire for Gunna. In one clip, he asked label executives to drop his Business Is Business album the same day as Gunna’s The Last Wun album to “torment” him, adding, “I literally don’t hate nobody in the entire world but him, I literally hate him, I swear to God.” During an extended phone call with 21 Savage, he admitted that at one point he thought about keeping things civil with Gunna publicly, but he didn’t want to contradict Lil Baby and Durk’s previous distancing from Gunna. Elsewhere in the conversation, Thug said that his lawyer Brian Steel told him Gunna’s plea made their defense more difficult; it was previously reported that his Alford Plea would only affect other defendants if Gunna testified, which he didn’t. Thug also claimed that Gunna offered to write a statement for Steel stating he was “tricked” into the Alford Plea, then didn’t “answer the phone” when called to do so. Steel declined to comment on Thug’s claims.

Many are noting Thug’s hypocrisy in his public frustration with Gunna. While arguing with Atlanta rapper Ralo on X, he posted that he made an “honest mistake” in implicating Roscoe in drug dealing, while Gunna similarly rapped, “Lawyers and the D.A. did some sneaky shit, I fell for it” on his single, “Bread & Butter.” Thug was upset at Gunna’s plea deal, but recently posted on X that he told his brother Unfoonk to take a plea deal right after Gunna because he “ain’t wanna put my mama through that again.”

The reductive street code has blackballed Gunna in the rap game, with Offset and Roddy Ricch being the sole rapper collaborators on his two post-release albums. In 2021, the last full year before the YSL indictment, he featured on seven songs with other artists. Since his release, he’s done just three features, with Toosii being the only rapper.

During his jail call with Thug, 21 Savage expressed that while he didn’t like Gunna’s plea, he wouldn’t go public about it because he didn’t want Atlanta to look bad — it’s happened anyway. Thug’s calls are likely to further shake up a scene that was already cratering. He called Quality Control CEO Pierre “P” Thomas a “rat,” and called Gucci Mane “soft” for being cool with him. He told Lil Durk, Atlanta-based before his incarceration, to “shut that cap ass shit up” after he shouted him out online but didn’t clear a verse. He opined that the Migos catalog is “making no munyun,” called producer Wheezy “stupid and retarded,” and talked down on Kendrick Lamar for not giving him a verse for his Business Is Business album, implying he needed to collaborate with him to widen his fanbase; Kendrick’s recent world tour says otherwise.

Last week, Ralo took to social media to call Thug a divisive figure who had previously talked down on Rich Homie Quan and YFN Lucci to peers in a similar manner. In 2016, he began clashing with Future for reasons that were unclear before they squashed things. Today, he posted to X, “Bashing me only goin fuck that rap community up more, I’m the [glue] to this fake ass game.” He might be better served by taking his own advice before dissing so many of his fellow rappers on publicly retrievable jail calls.

During a 2012 Reddit AMA, Thug revealed a pragmatic approach to his career: “I make a product for a certain audience and I’m good at it. Supply and demand, simple economics. I don’t do this because I love the attention, I do this because I have a certain skill set that now allows me to get paid without the threat of doing federal time.”

However, over the past decade or so, street rap has sought to become “bigger and better” for consumers. It wasn’t enough for artists to merely depict the streets. Black death is a rising commodity, and fans eager for the most potent hit of vicarious awe want artists to give them a frontline glimpse of nihilism. That encourages too many artists to portray the most ignorant images they can to rap fans and media personalities who’ve collectively cultivated a fandom of rap as a criminal racket. Talented artists are being goaded to risk their freedom, embodying a lifestyle that terrorizes communities and corrupts young minds to devalue human life — and if the worst happens, they’ll be called fools for giving onlookers what they ask for.

Trending Stories

In the eyes of many fans, discussions about musical quality have given way to conversations about who snitched; pondering an artist’s potential has been replaced by RICO speculation. Even though artists make their fortune as musicians, they flex that their adherence to the street code supercedes any desire to grow beyond petty street politics. That‘s led to an artist like Thug wanting to be perceived as a gangster more than a savvy businessman, even with a precarious 15-year probation over his head.

Gangster rap and all its variants have flown way too close to the sun. Thug and Gunna could’ve come out of the YSL trial together as a stronger-than-ever unit. But instead, the justice system, public perception, and ego drove a wedge through one of Atlanta’s last great rap movements. During his call with Thug, 21 noted that the city doesn’t feel the same after so much death and incarceration; more infighting isn’t the remedy. We don’t need Thug or any of his peers to be the most street artist in the world, because we don’t need the streets. Hopefully, the Atlanta rap scene can realize that and prioritize the music before it’s too late.

Julia Garner Confirms Madonna Biopic Is Still On: ‘Work in Progress’

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Yes, Julia Garner is still on to play Madonna in an upcoming biopic on the superstar, the existence of which has long been called into question due to a series of delays.

The Weapons actress confirmed as much in an on-camera interview with W Magazine posted Wednesday (Sept. 3). When asked whether she’d for sure be starring as the Queen of Pop, Garner replied enthusiastically, “Yeah!”

“I can’t say too much about it, but yes,” she continued. “It’s a work in progress.”

Garner also shared some of her favorite Madonna songs. “Oh my god, I have so many,” she said, rattling off a list. “I love ‘Borderline,’ that’s probably my favorite … I love all of Madonna basically is what I’m trying to say. ”

She added, “I just love Madonna’s voice on ‘Papa Don’t Preach.’ There’s a lot of emotions in that song.”

The interview comes more than three years after Garner was first reportedly cast to play Madge in the biopic in mid-2022. By January 2023, reports emerged that the project had been scrapped, but the following year, Madonna teased on social media that it was back on.

Shortly before confirming as much to W, Garner said on a July episode of Will Arnett and Jason Bateman’s Smartless podcast that the film was indeed “still brewing” and “supposed to still happen.”

“I kind of just wanted to see if I could do it,” she added at the time of the audition process. “Because I wasn’t a trained dancer and I had to learn how to dance and then dance in front of her and convince her that I can dance, basically, and sing. And sing with her!”

Watch Garner’s W interview below.

Dame Dash Opens Up About Teeth Issues And What Fans Should Expect

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

If anyone was worried about Dame Dash‘s teeth, and if they’ve followed him for the last few decades, then they should know not to be concerned any longer. The 54-year-old entrepreneur opened up about what is going on with his dental situation.

The Harlem native shared part one of a two-part episode from his new Bosses Take Losses show, and the main topic was his beef with Cam’ron. However, in typical Dame fashion, he had to turn a subject for jokes into a flex. He revealed that he broke five implants in his mouth, referring to the viral video of his teeth from last fall, but clarified that it had nothing to do with his age.

“Get your jokes, but know that right now I’m in my dentist office and tomorrow,” he said. “I’m getting a surgery and hopefully by the time y’all see this, I’ll have some new teeth.” In the interview, he also had a bandage over his left eye and revealed why.

“Yesterday I got a surgery in my eye because I had to remove liquid that’s in my eye because I’m diabetic,” Dash said. “You can diabetes-shame me if you want, but other diabetics can relate. You get these things that are called floaters in your eye, and I got gel—everyone does in their eye, it makes the blood stay there, so they had to take the gel out.”

Outside of his health issues, he admitted that he reached out to Killa Cam to handle their tension privately. “Cam’s been talking a lot. Sometimes it’s complimentary, but a lot of time this thing is that I don’t think that we should be speaking about publicly,” Dame said. “I haven’t called him a lot, but when I did call, he doesn’t pick up, and I think he’s publicly said he doesn’t pick up my calls.” Dame also countered Cam’s critiques for his 2018 film Honor Up by saying that the Dipset member hasn’t made a hit since he left Roc-A-Fella.

Their issues first sparked on Cam’ron’s Talk With Flee, when Cam revealed he wasn’t fond of how Dash and Ma$e got into a fight, plus another incident where 50 Cent allegedly smacked him “on the a**.” Through it all, he still welcomed Dame to stop by Talk With Flee so they could hash things out.

fakemink Deserves the Hype | Pitchfork

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

The hype is in overdrive, so much so that people are declaring he’s lost his soul and calling him an industry plant. He’s at the forefront of the British scene—alongside upstarts like Fimiguerrero, Jim Legxacy, YT, and Len—but also quickly surpassing it, primed for global crossover. How did we get here, and is this 20-year-old Drake and Dean Blunt diehard worth the fanfare?

In the early days, before he was fakemink, he was 9090gate. He smoked weed and recorded music from a bedroom crammed with knickknacks and guarded by blackout curtains. He filmed Instagram Lives, including one where he got hit by a car. Over the last couple of years, he has slowly developed a style he calls “dirty luxury”: think food stains on a $10,000 t-shirt. It’s not a super original concept—opulent grime has been the ethos of countless MCs from Rocky to Lone. He wants to give it a fresh spin with his own production and beats from some of the most exciting oddballs in the underground, like deer park, cranes, Yurkiez, mag, and reklus1ve. “Bambi,” produced by prblm, conjures up a drunken walk home at 3 a.m. with rain drizzling lightly over your head. Others like “Bite My Lip” and “Crush” have a deliciously decayed shimmer that makes them feel like 2000s prom hits from an alternate dimension. fakemink’s one of a few in this corner of the underground who writes out lyrics ahead of time instead of punching in fragmented bursts. As a result, his vocals have a kind of stately yet starry-eyed quality, giving structure to these deformed, cosmic beats from the internet abyss. It reminds me of the way Takeoff’s unvarnished tone anchored his Migos partners’ Auto-Tuned warbles.

BDS movement call for boycott of Radiohead’s 2025 tour

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

The pro-Palestine BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement has called for a boycott of Radiohead’s newly announced 2025 tour.

Earlier today (September 3), the band confirmed a run of UK and European live shows for November and December, their first dates in over seven years. They will play multiple dates each in Madrid, Bologna, London’s O2, Copenhagen and Berlin. Fans can apply for tickets by registering on Radiohead’s website here from Friday (September 5).

Shortly after the announcement, the BDS movement’s social media pages shared a message from the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI), which argued that the band’s “complicit silence” and support of Israeli performers during the “genocide against Palestinians in Gaza” should lead to a boycott of the shows.

“Even as Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza reaches its latest, most brutal and depraved phase of induced starvation, Radiohead continues with its complicit silence, while one member repeatedly crosses our picket line, performing a short drive away from a livestreamed genocide, alongside an Israeli artist that entertains genocidal Israeli forces,” an Instagram post read.

“Palestinians reiterate our call for the boycott of Radiohead concerts, including its rumoured tour, until the group convincingly distances itself, at a minimum, from Jonny Greenwood’s crossing of our peaceful picket line during Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.”

NME have contacted Radiohead’s representatives for comment.

In May 2024 and again in March this year, Greenwood played a show with Israeli musician Dudu Tassa in Tel Aviv, while a pair of UK performances from the duo scheduled for June were cancelled following a backlash from pro-Palestinian campaigners.

PACBI have said those shows’ cancellation came about after “peaceful BDS pressure, given the artists’ clear and irrefutable links to whitewashing Israel’s genocide in Gaza that has killed at least 62,000 Palestinians.”

Greenwood said in a statement after the cancellations: “The venues and their blameless staff have received enough credible threats to conclude that it’s not safe to proceed.”

“Forcing musicians not to perform and denying people who want to hear them an opportunity to do so is self-evidently a method of censorship and silencing,” he continued. “Intimidating venues into pulling our shows won’t help achieve the peace and justice everyone in the Middle East deserves. This cancellation will be hailed as a victory by the campaigners behind it, but we see nothing to celebrate and don’t find that anything positive has been achieved.”

The new PACBI post also said: “Dudu Tassa has repeatedly entertained genocidal Israeli forces in between these massacres of Palestinians in Gaza, willingly acting as a cultural ambassador for apartheid Israel.”

Radiohead also encountered a backlash in 2017 when they played a show in Tel Aviv despite protests urging them not to. Figures including Roger Waters, Thurston Moore, Young Fathers and Archbishop Desmond Tutu all signed an open letter from Artists For Palestine UK pressuring them to back out of the show. Today, PACBI said Radiohead had “yet to apologise” for playing the show.

Thon Yorke later responded to the controversy by stating: “Playing in a country isn’t the same as endorsing its government. We don’t endorse Netanyahu any more than Trump.”

Yorke also clashed with a protester during a solo show in Melbourne last October. When a pro-Palestinian campaigner in the audience shouted out at the stage, the frontman said: “Come up and say that, right here. Come up on the fucking stage and say what you want to say. But don’t stand there like a coward, come here and say it.” Yorke then walked off stage.

In May, Yorke shared a lengthy post in which he attempted to explain his stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

“Some guy shouting at me from the dark last year when I was picking up a guitar to sing the final song alone in front of 9000 people in Melbourne didn’t really seem like the best moment to discuss the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza,” Yorke began. “Afterwards I remained in shock that my supposed silence was somehow being taken as complicity, and I struggled to find an adequate way to respond to this and to carry on with the rest of the shows on the tour.”

“That silence, my attempt to show respect for all those who are suffering and those who have died, and to not trivialise it in a few words, has allowed other opportunistic groups to use intimidation and defamation to fill in the blanks, and I regret giving them this chance. This has had a heavy toll on my mental health,” he continued, before stating that his music should be enough of an indication to prove he “could not possibly support any form of extremism or dehumanisation of others”.

He said Netanyahu was “totally out of control” and the “international community should put all the pressure it can on them to cease”, while arguing that “the unquestioning Free Palestine refrain that surrounds us all does not answer the simple question of why the hostages still have not all been returned? For what possible reason?”

Some criticised Yorke’s comments, including Reggie Watts, who said he was “disappointed to see that Thom’s statement centers his hurt feelings and frames his fans’ demands for him to speak up as a “social media witch hunt,” instead of recognizing the urgency of their call for him to speak out against the world-historical humanitarian crisis in Palestine.”

Around the time of the 2017 show, Yorke also got into a Twitter altercation with director Ken Loach over the show, when the latter asked the members whether they would “stand with the oppressed or the oppressor?”

Last year, guitarist Ed O’Brien wrote: “Like so many of you I have found the events of October 7 and what has followed too awful for words.. anything that I have tried to write feels so utterly inadequate. Ceasefire now. Return the hostages.”

Radiohead began teasing their 2025 shows this week, with a series of flyers popping up in the cities they’ll be visiting.

The group’s most recent live performance took place on August 1, 2018 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. It marked the end of their ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’ tour in support of their 2017 album of the same name – which they have yet to follow up.

Taylor Swift 'Welcome' by NFL Chief to Play Super Bowl Halftime Show

Taylor Swift ‘Welcome’ by NFL Chief to Play Super Bowl Halftime Show

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

It’s safe to say the NFL commissioner is a Swiftie, too. On Wednesday, Roger Goodell essentially extended an open invitation to Taylor Swift to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, stating that she’s “welcome at any time.”

“We would always love to have Taylor play,” Goodell said during an appearance on the Today Show. “She is a special, special talent and obviously, she would be welcome at any time.”

When asked directly if there were any official plans in the works to get Swift on the halftime show stage, Goodell played coy. “I can’t tell you anything about that,” he said at first, but when pressed, he added: “It’s a maybe.”

As for when a decision might be announced, Goodell deferred to Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation helms the Super Bowl Halftime Show. “I’m waiting on my friend Jay-Z to help me with that one,” Goodell said. “It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the smoke to come out.”

Reps for Swift, Jay-Z, and Roc Nation did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone’s requests for comment.

And as if there was even a shred of doubt based on his previous comments, Goodell proudly declared himself among Swift’s fans: “I’m definitely a Swiftie,” he said.

Swift would make sense for the February 2026 game at Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Over the past few years in particular, her name has been mentioned as a likely prospect. For one, she’s about to drop her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Oct. 3, so she’d be armed with new material to perform. And because the album won’t be eligible for the Grammys until the 2027 edition, her schedule would likely be open for the Super Bowl.

She also has a long-established relationship with the NFL, having sung the National Anthem in 2006 at the Detroit Lions’ Thanksgiving Day game. In 2010, she performed at the NFL’s Opening Kickoff event in New Orleans. She teased “Me!” during the 2019 NFL draft and debuted a trailer for Midnights during the third quarter of a 2022 Thursday night game between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals.

Trending Stories

Last but not least, she’s been a constant at NFL games, given her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end and now-fiancé, Travis Kelce.

For now, we’ll have to await an official announcement, which is likely to arrive soon. Last year, officials announced Kendrick Lamar as the headliner on Sept. 8.

NFL Boss Roger Goodell On If Taylor Swift Is in Mix For 2026 Super Bowl

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

With an announcement expected soon, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell cranked up the hype machine for the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show to 11 on Wednesday morning (Sept. 3) when he appeared on the Today Show and casually dropped the biggest name in the pop universe as a possibility.

Asked if it’s possible that Taylor Swift might do the honors on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., Goodell played it coy while saying the loudest part out loud. “We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time,” he said.

Asked by co-host Savannah Guthrie if a Swift-time show is in the works, Goodell said, “I can’t tell you anything about it.” When Guthrie wondered if it was a “maybe,” Goodell continued the tease, adding, “It’s a maybe.”

Swift’s name has bubbled up as a possible halftime performer in the run-up to what is typically an early September announcement for a number of reasons. The first, of course, is that she has become a staple at NFL games over the past two years thanks to her relationship with Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, to whom she got engaged last month. The singer also has a new album coming out on Oct. 3, The Life of a Showgirl.

Whoever it is, they will have big shoes to fill after Kendrick Lamar crushed it at this year’s halftime in February. Billboard has gotten in on the speculation, with everyone from Swift to Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber, Drake, BTS, Bay area legends Green Day and Metallica and Jay-Z making our short list.

While avowed Swiftie Goodell kept it vague with Today, he added, “I’m waiting for my friend Jay-Z. It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the smoke to come out.” Jay-Z and his company Roc Nation, have been producing the Super Bowl halftime shows since 2020. While the roster has leaned into the R&B/hip-hop vein since then, with shows by The Weeknd, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Anderson .Paak and Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Usher and Lamar last year, Swift’s name has perennially been in the mix as a possible performer on the biggest stage of the year.

And in her inimitable fashion, Swift has been subtly dropping Easter eggs that seem to point to a possible Santa Clara Sunday in February. In advance of the album that Swift has teased will bring back her big pop era, the singer announced the LP on the Kelce brothers’ New Heights podcast last month, noting that she learned she’d secured the rights to her master recordings just a few months before attending this year’s Super Bowl.

She also noted that she used to not pay attention to the big game growing up, though her dad was a huge NFL fan. “My relationship with sports was like, I grew up in Pennsylvania, I always heard my dad yelling at the screen watching Eagles games,” she said. “I was up in my room playing guitar, learning instruments, playing piano — I was focused on different things. I would go to sporting events so that I could sing the national anthem. I know every halftime show from the Super Bowls, but I didn’t watch the sports.”

Though her focus on the halftime show was seemingly random, she also did a deep dive into her latest obsession: sourdough bread. That was telling because the mascot for the San Francisco 49ers franchise — whose home stadium will host the game — is Sourdough Sam and the this season will end with the 60th Super Bowl, a number that just happens to match the percentage Swift used to describe her level of bread talk lately.

Swift also kept bringing up the number 47 during the pod, thanking co-host Jason Kelce for “screaming for like 47 seconds for me” and saying she’d visited “47,000” countries on her Eras Tour (actually 21). It’s worth noting that the 47th of 149 shows on the global Eras tour was, of course, July 2023 at Levi’s Stadium. Never a coincidence, as Swifties know all too well.

Watch Goodell talk potential Swift halftime performance below.
