Thinness is back on catwalks — and the data proves it

by jummy84 October 16, 2025
written by jummy84

After a short interlude of pushing “body inclusivity” and plus-sized models to the fore, the fashion industry has returned to promoting thinness as a beauty ideal.

Thinness is back on catwalks — and the data proves it

Data published this week from Vogue Business, based on catwalk shows in the most recent Spring/Summer 2026 Fashion Weeks, corroborated what models with regular or larger body sizes have been reporting: their work is drying up.

Of the 9,038 looks analysed in New York, London, Milan and Paris, 97.1 percent featured models judged to be very small , according to data from Vogue Business in its size inclusivity report.

Regular-sized models represented only 2.0 percent of the body types seen, compared to just 0.9 percent for “plus-size” models , the report showed.

“There are fewer and fewer plus-size models on the runways,” Aude Perceval, a booker at Plus Agency, a pioneer in plus-size modeling in France, told AFP.

The trend was particularly pronounced in Paris, she added.

This is despite many designers adopting looks that naturally create curvy silhouettes, such as corsets.

In some cases, models have been sent out with padding around their hips to create the hourglass shape.

“Since 2022, there’s been a real regression, both in the frequency of contracts and in fees,” model Doralyse Brumain, 31, who wears a French 40-42, told AFP.

– ‘False idea’ –

The “body positive” movement, born in the 2010s, was based on the idea of promoting acceptance of different body types and recognising the damage done by creating a beauty ideal of thinness that was both unhealthy and beyond the reach of most women.

In the same way that fur and flashy fashion is making a comeback, so is the aesthetic of extreme thinness that was called “heroin chic” in the 1990s when popularised by supermodels such as Kate Moss.

“There’s this false idea that being thin means being chic, being rich,” said French model casting director Esther Boiteux to AFP.

The wide availability of weight-loss drugs such as Ozempic used to suppress appetite has also been linked to the return of thinness.

The diabetes treatment “has something to do with it because we’re seeing a lot of celebrities who are using it”, British Vogue editor Chioma Nnadi said last November.

“I think there’s this shift in the culture around how we think about our bodies and how we address our bodies,” she told the BBC.

Clothes for fashion shows are also typically designed and manufactured in a single size that of “standard” thin models and making clothes for regular or larger models requires forethought and extra time to adapt them.

– ‘Unattainable’ –

Ekaterina Ozhiganova, a Russian-born model and founder of the Model Law association, which advocates for model rights, says that consumers are in favour of seeing models in different sizes.

“But for it to become truly sustainable, there would need to be a profound change in production,” she told AFP, adding that the industry continued to sell “an unattainable ideal”.

French designer Jeanne Friot believes fashion runways should instead be a place where everyone can envision themselves.

“The point of a fashion show is to showcase something different from the fashion I grew up with, very thin and very standardized. I want to see sizes… older people, all ethnicities, all genders,” she told AFP.

For the moment, sighting a regular-sized woman on the catwalk is an increasingly rare occurrence, but the change is not going unnoticed.

“We have to speak out when fashion messes up and establishes a standard it should abandon,” French fashion journalist Sophie Fontanel wrote on Instagram in early October as she watched the Givenchy show during Paris Fashion Week.

Singer – Culture Club

Check out Karma Chameleon Song Lyrics by Culture Club

Desert loving in your eyes all the way
If I listen to your lies, would you say

I’m a man without conviction
I’m a man who doesn’t know
How to sell a contradiction
You come and go, you come and go

Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream
Red, gold and green, red, gold and green

Didn’t hear your wicked words every day
And you used to be so sweet, I heard you say

That my love was an addiction
When we cling, our love is strong
When you go, you’re gone forever
You string along, you string along

Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream
Red, gold and green, red, gold and green

Every day is like survival (Survival)
You’re my lover, not my rival
Every day is like survival (Survival)
You’re my lover, not my rival

I’m a man without conviction
I’m a man who doesn’t know
How to sell a contradiction
You come and go, you come and go

Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream
Red, gold and green, red, gold and green
Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream

Red gold and green, red gold and green
Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go

Ananya Panday’s swipe test ends rumours of fake body tan with bronzer: ‘It is called…’

Ananya Panday confirms her tan is natural, settling the rumours of fake tan after her appearance at the premiere of The Bads of Bollywood.

Ananya Panday recently found herself at the centre of trolling. When the actor attended the premiere of The Ba***ds of Bollywood, her body from neck down appeared several shades darker and more bronzed than her face. Netizens called it out, suspicious that the tan has been artificially applied with body bronzer, which is a cosmetic product that gives a sun-kissed tanned glow without sun exposure.

In a recent video posted by fashion critic Diet Sabya, the actor put all rumours to rest, demonstrating live that her tan is completely natural.

Ananya’s test

In the video, Ananya gave a live swipe test for all the trolls, reiterating that her tan is natural. She rubbed a towel against her tanned arms, and it remained completely clean, showing no brown smears or traces of bronzer or any product.

The actor said, “Test of bronzer which y’all are saying that I have put.. there’s nothing. It is called going on a good holiday and getting a tan.” The swipe test was a clear rebuttal to the accusation of fake tans, leaving no room for doubt for the trolls. It is natural to get a tan, especially in tropical destinations like the Maldives, where she has recently vacationed.

Fan reactions

With the tan, Ananya appeared a few shades darker, and one user appreciated this: “So good to see someone go against traditional notions of ‘white beauty’ and promote a bronzed skin in India.” Other fans hailed her witty comeback, “she’s too funny, yaar!” One user called it a mic drop moment, “Mic drop situation by ACP”

Ananya’s Maldives photodump

Ananya shared a photodump from her Maldives holiday on September 13. It included a generous amount of sun-kissed moments, whether it is lounging by the sea in a bikini, morning exploration in tank tops and shorts, or diving into the deep blue sea for scuba diving.

The trailer for The Taj Story, a bold courtroom drama starring veteran actor Paresh Rawal, has officially been unveiled, offering a provocative glimpse into what promises to be one of the most thought-provoking films of the year. Slated for theatrical release on October 31, 2025, the film challenges long-held narratives surrounding the Taj Mahal and invites viewers to question history with a critical eye.

Written and directed by Tushar Amrish Goel and produced by Warnim Global Services Pvt. Ltd. along with CA Suresh Jha, the film explores themes of truth, belief, and intellectual freedom. Creative producer Vikas Radhesham ensures that the film strikes a balance between compelling drama and philosophical depth.

In The Taj Story, Paresh Rawal plays Vishnu Das, a passionate guide determined to uncover the “real” story behind India’s most iconic monument. His quest for truth brings him face to face with powerful ideological forces, leading to fierce courtroom battles. Zakir Hussain plays a key opposing counsel, and their intense legal face-offs form the core of the narrative.

The trailer features sharp visuals, hard-hitting dialogues, and a storyline that promises more than just entertainment. “Vishnu Das is rooted in conviction,” Rawal shared. “This film doesn’t shy away from asking uncomfortable questions and encourages audiences to reflect honestly on history.”

Director Goel added, “The Taj Story is more than a film — it’s a cinematic debate. We hope it sparks meaningful dialogue.”

The cast also includes Amruta Khanvilkar, Sneha Wagh, and Namit Das in pivotal roles. Music is composed by Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dev Nath. Positioned as a fearless social drama, The Taj Story dares to ask: “Even after 79 years of Independence, are we still slaves of intellectual terrorism?”

The dreamy fusion of Italian and intricate Indian design exudes modern royalty and glamour, featuring a corset-style metallic bodice, adorned with sequins and beadwork, while the sheer saree adds texture and movement. Designed by Mumbai-based jeweller Nisha Mehta, boasts a gigantic emerald at the centre. Her look was paired with a pair of heavy diamond jhumkas, and a stack of bangles. Talk about being extra huh?

This stunning fusion look features Radhika in an archival Vivienne Westwood corset and scarf from the designer’s iconic 1990 A/W Portrait Collection, paired with custom Chanderi saree. The collection draws direct inspiration from eighteenth century oil painting, featuring François Boucher’s 1743 painting ‘Daphnis and Chloe’ on the corset. The Most Epic Mashup In Fashion History? Victoria’s Secret’s Britney-Kamal Haasan Tribute! | Glamsham.com

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was once again to dazzling heights in October 2025, reclaiming its place in world spotlight with an adrenaline-pumping extravaganza in New York City. With stunning sets, fearless fashion, and performances by Missy Elliott, Karol G, and K-pop sensation TWICE, the show combined glamour with innovation — but one surprise musical moment was the true showstopper.

In a runway moment, the crowd was left agog over an amazing mashup: Britney Spears’ Toxic being seamlessly merged with Tere Mere Beech Mein, a popular Hindi tune from the 1981 Bollywood movie Ek Duuje Ke Liye. The East-meets-West mashup went viral, exciting fans online and sparking renewed controversy around the two songs’ long-mulled-up connection.

The fans had for long presumed that the hook of strings in Toxic was stolen from Tere Mere Beech Mein. Written by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and Anand Bakshi and performed by legends Lata Mangeshkar and S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, the original Hindi track has an identical haunting melody. The mashup they did for the fashion show capitalized on their audio affinities, combining the scorching syrupy groove of Spears’ 2003 single with the dramatics of the Hindi classic.

Toxic, on the other hand, was a global phenomenon, earning Britney Spears a Grammy and one of the defining songs of the 2000s. Tere Mere Beech Mein is from Ek Duuje Ke Liye, an antique Indian film which told a tragic love story of an intercultural affair. Starring Kamal Haasan and Rati Agnihotri and directed by K. Balachander, the film is still a powerful cultural reference point.

The mashup’s viral fame not only thrilled fans globally but also brought to light the rich musical exchange between the East and West — proving that melodies have no borders and no decades

AIIMS Raipur orthopaedic surgeon shares real reason for middle-aged man’s frozen shoulder: ‘Sugar levels were sky high’

What does diabetes have to do with frozen shoulder – a debilitating but normally temporary condition that is characterised by an extended period of pain and stiffness in your shoulder? In an October 14 Instagram video, Dr Dushyant Chouhan, an orthopaedic surgeon from All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, (AIIMS) Raipur, discussed the connection between frozen shoulder and diabetes. Also read | Shoulder pain: Causes and treatment

Frozen shoulder can be an early indicator of diabetes, and a simple blood sugar test can reveal underlying issues.(Shutterstock)

He shared a case study to illustrate the importance of body awareness and symptom observation in detecting major illnesses – and explained how a seemingly ordinary case of shoulder stiffness turned out to be an early warning sign for diabetes.

In the video he posted, Dr Chouhan shared that the patient initially sought treatment for severe frozen shoulder symptoms, including pain that disrupted sleep and difficulty with basic tasks like combing hair. However, the doctor realised the patient also exhibited other signs, such as frequent urination, excessive thirst, blurred vision, and tingling in the extremities, which are classic symptoms of diabetes.

What were the man’s symptoms?

Upon testing, Dr Chouhan revealed the patient was found to have severely elevated blood sugar levels, confirming a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, suggesting the shoulder problem was a secondary issue. In the video he posted, Dr Chouhan said in Hindi, “I am sharing with you a very interesting and useful piece of knowledge about how you can become aware of your body and detect serious illnesses in your body. A patient had come in with shoulder pain. The pain was so severe that it would wake them up at night. They could not lift their hands up. They had difficulty combing and buttoning. All these problems were present. Seeing this, we understood that they have the problem of frozen shoulder. Frozen shoulder means that the capsule of your shoulder gets jammed.”

He further said, “But along with this, the patient had other issues too. Such as frequent urination, frequent desire to drink water, slightly blurry vision, and tingling (numbness) in the hands and feet. So, all these symptoms are of diabetes. Meaning, people who have the disease of sugar (diabetes). When I got them tested for HbA1c and a sugar test, the levels were quite high. They had come to me for a shoulder ailment, but their main problem was diabetes mellitus, meaning the disease of sugar. The point is that retrospectively — by catching hold of a small symptom — we discovered a major illness. So, if you also have a shoulder problem, you can consider whether you might have diabetes.”

‘Body’s early whisper that diabetes had arrived’

Dr Chouhan added that 30 to 40 percent of frozen shoulder cases are associated with diabetes mellitus and advised people, especially those with pre-existing diabetes, to be proactive with shoulder exercises and diabetes management to prevent frozen shoulder.

“Furthermore, in 30 to 40 percent of cases of frozen shoulder, diabetes mellitus is certainly found. That means those who have diabetes mellitus may have the problem of a frozen shoulder, or those who have frozen shoulder may have the problem of diabetes. So, if you are already a sugar (diabetic) patient and taking medicine, you need to be extra careful that you do not develop frozen shoulder in your shoulder later. For this, you should do shoulder movements beforehand, take medicines, and control your diabetes (sugar) so that you can avoid a major problem in the coming time, which is frozen shoulder,” Dr Chouhan said.

He wrote in his caption: “A middle-aged patient walked into my clinic, complaining of shoulder stiffness and pain for months. He thought it was just ‘age catching up’. But something didn’t add up — the pain was out of proportion, and the shoulder had almost frozen. When I dug a little deeper and advised a simple blood sugar test, the results surprised him… and even him more than the pain — his sugar levels were sky high. That’s when it clicked: the frozen shoulder wasn’t just a shoulder problem — it was his body’s early whisper that diabetes had quietly arrived. Sometimes, our joints tell the story before the sugar does. If your shoulder suddenly becomes stiff and painful without injury — don’t ignore it. It might be your body’s way of warning you.”

Rolling Stone Tips Lady Gaga’s Mayhem As 2026 Grammys Album Of The Year Front-Runner | Glamsham.com

Lady Gaga is once again in the Grammy spotlight, and this time, she might just take it all. Rolling Stone has predicted that Gaga’s Mayhem could be the album to beat at the 2026 Grammys. Critics are calling it her most confident and layered work in years, and the momentum around it feels massive. After a decade filled with acting projects, fashion triumphs, and creative reinventions, Gaga has returned to music with the same bold energy that defined her early career, only sharper and more seasoned.

Gaga’s history with the Grammys has always been remarkable. She earned three consecutive Album of the Year nominations starting with The Fame in 2010, followed by The Fame Monster in 2011 and Born This Way in 2012. Each project pushed pop boundaries and redefined what a mainstream artist could do. Now, after more than a decade, she’s back with experience, artistry, and a sound that merges the raw energy of her debut with the maturity of a global icon.

“Lady Gaga always feels like a strong contender for this category,” says John Stein, Head of North America Editorial at Spotify. “But this time, she has both the story and the music on her side.” His comment reflects a wider industry sentiment: Mayhem isn’t just a pop record, nit’s a cultural moment. The album blends experimental production with emotional songwriting, giving fans both spectacle and soul.

Still, Gaga faces serious competition. Bad Bunny’s next project is expected to dominate global charts, Kendrick Lamar is rumored to be dropping a politically charged record, and Tyler, the Creator is known for his unpredictable yet artistic albums. The 2026 Grammys might turn into one of the fiercest Album of the Year races in recent memory. But as of now, all eyes are on Gaga and Mayhem, the comeback everyone’s been waiting for.

World Spine Day 2025: Neurosurgeon shares 6 daily habits that damage your spine: Sleeping on stomach, soft mattress

by jummy84 October 16, 2025

World Spine Day 2025: 16 October is observed as World Spine Day to raise awareness regarding spinal health. This year’s theme is ‘invest in your spine.’ On this observance day, let’s take a closer look at some of the daily harmful habits.

Long hours of sitting at work is hazardous to your spinal health. (Picture credit: Freepik)

ALSO READ: Spine surgeon warns Indians not to ignore back pain until it’s too late, reveals who all ‘should be extra careful’

To understand how some common habits may impact spinal health, Dr Gaurav Batra, neurosurgeon of brain and spine at Max Super Speciality Hospital at Vaishali, shared with HT Lifestyle, that one needs to take care of the spine as it is the very bedrock of the body’s architecture, responsible for the majority of movements. But nowadays, some daily habits put spinal health at risk, causing severe backache.

“Back pain will also accumulate slowly and will become increasingly worse. Most stress that is acquired from posture, ergonomics, and habit can be avoided by being aware,” he emphasised. “Minor adjustments in how we sit, move, and sleep can have a big difference in how it keeps a healthy, ache-free spine.” To fix your back pain, you need to change some habits.

Dr Batra shared these five habits that quietly destabilise your spine, along with one pro tip for each on how you can rectify them:

1. Long sitting and posture

Make sure your posture is correct when you sit at work. (Picture credit: Freepik)
Make sure your posture is correct when you sit at work. (Picture credit: Freepik)
  • Hours of sitting, and particularly with a curved back and bowing neck, puts the lower back under tremendous tension.
  • Gradually, the constant tension seeps into the muscles of the spine, represses disc nutrition, and hastens wear and tear. The consequence is nagging stiffness of the back, fatigue, and even disc prolapse.

Tip: Sit with support for your lower back, screen at eye level, and take hourly moving breaks.

2. Excessive smartphone use

  • Repetition of neck flexion for extended periods of time spent on a phone can multiply the cervical spine’s load hundreds of times.
  • This is commonly referred to as ‘tech neck’, which results in neck pain, shoulder stiffness, and premature cervical spondylosis.

Tip: Phone at eye level with two-handed support, and intersperse gentle neck stretches during practice.

3. Having a sedentary lifestyle

  • A sedentary lifestyle weakens the deep spinal stabilising muscles, such as the back extensors and core.
  • This loads the discs and ligaments mechanically, resulting in chronic low back pain and deteriorated posture.

Tip: Regular stretching, strengthening, and brisk walking restore spinal balance and endurance.

4. Picking up objects the incorrect way

  • Bending at the waist to lift heavy objects places extreme stress on the lower back and may result in disc injury or abrupt muscle spasm.

Tip: Always bend knees and hips, keep the object close to the body, and never turn while lifting.

5. Using defective mattresses

  • Lying on a sagging or soft mattress will most likely disturb the spine and hyper-extend the back muscles during sleep.

Tip: Lie on a medium-firm mattress.

6. Sleeping on stomach

Lying on one’s stomach will most likely hyper-extend the neck and lower back as well.

Tip: Lie on a medium-firm mattress and experiment with lying on the side with a pillow between your knees to maintain the natural spinal alignment.

Ruby Rose Defends Taylor Swift Against Billionaire Backlash: “She Used To Scroll GoFundMe Like Social Media” | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 October 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Ruby Rose is setting the record straight for her longtime friend Taylor Swift amid growing online debates about Swift’s billionaire status and charitable giving. After a viral post claimed that Swift “doesn’t deserve to be a billionaire” and “doesn’t actually donate much,” Ruby stepped in with a rare, emotional comment that paints a very different picture of the pop icon.

“Lol. She used to scroll GoFundMe like social media,” Ruby wrote. “Clicking ‘reach their donation’ like it was the like button.” Her comment instantly went viral, offering a glimpse into the private generosity of one of the world’s biggest stars.

Fans were quick to connect the dots. Swift has been known to make anonymous contributions to fans’ fundraisers and crisis campaigns over the years, whether it’s paying for college tuition, rent, or medical emergencies. But this comment from Ruby Rose, one of Swift’s closest industry friends, confirms just how habitual and heartfelt those gestures were.

Ruby Rose defends Taylor Swift following MAGA allegations:

“As someone who has spent many nights discussing the world, social injustice and life, with The Show Girl herself. I refuse to say her name in the same sentence as the hate group…” pic.twitter.com/5rNCCtRjHt

— Pop Crave (@PopCrave) October 14, 2025

Ruby didn’t stop there. In a pointed follow-up, she added, “As someone who has spent many nights discussing the world’s social industries and life, the showgirl herself, I refuse to say her name in the same sentence as the hate group.” The “hate group” reference was likely aimed at online communities spreading political propaganda against Swift, which Ruby linked to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s circle.

“Given her public position against Trump and his against her,” Ruby continued, “if you’re falling for the propaganda “Tradwife, XYZ claims, you’re most definitely walking into the biggest man-made rage-bait black hole. Stop it. It’s not true and it’s incredibly stupid.”

Her defense struck a chord with fans who feel Swift has become an easy target despite her activism and philanthropy. “It’s embarrassing and hurtful to see energy put into this,” Ruby said. “Keep that energy and let’s take it where it’s necessary and needed.”

With Ruby’s candid words now spreading across social platforms, one thing’s clear: behind the fame, Taylor Swift’s quiet acts of kindness might be far bigger than anyone realized.
