The Lions’ Ali Kavoussi Reveals How to Make It as a Model — From Staying Confident to Finding the Right Agent

The world is your runway! And few people know better than Ali Kavoussi, founder of The Lions Management, the agency behind icons like Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Irina Shayk, Coco Rocha, Kate Upton, Stella Maxwell, Behati Prinsloo, Amelia Gray Hamlin, and more famous faces.

Now, the managing partner, known for discovering and nurturing rising stars, is telling ET exactly what it takes to land covers, book shows, and break into one of fashion’s most competitive industries.

While your walk and poses might already be strong, Kavoussi says true success begins before you step in front of the camera.

“We start with personality, story, and style and build everything from there. … Every person we represent has a point of view and we make sure the world sees it. … It’s not just about beauty. It’s presence, authenticity, and curiosity.”

From there, dedication to the craft is everything.

“One of the most surprising things about modeling is how much hard work, discipline, and self-awareness it requires. … It’s about showing up on time, being professional, understanding your brand, and building real relationships.”

And through it all, believing in yourself is key.

“Watching a model that everyone once overlooked walk the biggest runway in the world never gets old,” the businessman notes.

“I always tell the girls to fake it till you make it. Even if you’re nervous, walk in like you belong in the room, because you do,” he adds.

Just as essential: Having the right team behind you.

BFA.com

“It’s all about alignment. … Modeling can be overwhelming. You’re traveling constantly and signing major deals. An agent becomes your anchor. They fight for you and help you make the right long-term choices,” he shares.

This includes finding ways to make supermodels triple threats.

“Seeing Amelia evolve into a creative force, Candice launch her brand, and Irina step into high fashion are full circle moments. … My job is to protect individuality and make sure it translates from the runway, to a brand deal, to a single Instagram post. … We believe that a model can be an entrepreneur, a storyteller, and a brand,” Kavoussi explains.

Of course, knowing your angles never hurts either.

“It’s an art form. The more you shoot, the better you get. … Study light and be patient with yourself. It’s a lot of trial and error. And never underestimate the value of a great photographer,” he spills.

Official Trailer for ‘The White House Effect’ Doc About Climate Change

“We need a new attitude about the environment.” Cinetic debuted the trailer for a compelling documentary film called The White House Effect, made by a trio of some of the best doc filmmakers around – Bonni Cohen, Pedro Kos, Jon Shenk. It will be streaming on Netflix to watch starting this week – after premiering at film festivals in 2024. The title comes from an actual quote used by President George H.W. Bush who said he would use “the White House effect” to tackle climate change problems in the 80s. However, things didn’t really go well. Three decades ago, the world was poised to stop global warming. Using exclusively archival materials, The White House Effect tells the dramatic origin story of the climate crisis and how a political battle in the George H. W. Bush administration interrupted that moment, changing the course of history. So sad and infuriating. “How it happened is a question that we can still learn from – and one that [this film] answers with shocking & eye-opening timeliness with a virtuoso use of archive footage. Clips from TV news, presidential speeches, documents reveal how the US was on the brink of historic climate change [action], but instead laid the groundwork for decades of polarization.” Still as important than ever to show the truth.

Here’s the official trailer for Cohen, Kos, Shenk’s doc film The White House Effect, direct from YouTube:

The White House Effect Doc Trailer

The White House Effect Doc Trailer

A riveting look at a key moment in the history of the climate crisis, The White House Effect travels back in time to show how a crucial opportunity to take real action on global warming was not just squandered but deliberately undermined. Woven entirely of archival material, the film focuses on the pivotal years of the George H.W. Bush administration — 1988 to 1992 — when the entire country was waking up to the reality of global warming and Bush had pledged to use “the White House effect” to tackle it. Infuriating and irrefutable, the film tracks cause & effect with devastating precision to reveal just how hollow that promise became as Bush finds himself increasingly caught between his chief of staff John Sununu and industry power brokers on one side and his EPA chief Bill Reilly and climatologists on the other. As the world prepares for the Rio Earth Summit in 1992, Bush faces mounting pressure to make a decision that will change the course of history—culminating with the U.S. undermining a global agreement to set hard limits on emissions, setting the stage for the increasingly hot, dangerous, polarized future we all now face.

The White House Effect is co-directed by three award-winning doc filmmakers: Bonni Cohen (director of The Rape of Europa, Audrie & Daisy, Athlete A, Make a Splash) & Pedro Kos (director of Bending the Arc, Rebel Hearts, In Our Blood) & Jon Shenk (director of Lost Boys of Sudan, The Island President, Audrie & Daisy, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, Athlete A). Produced by Noah Stahl, Josh Penn, Justine Nagan. This initially premiered at the 2024 Telluride Film Festival a few years ago. Cinetic / Netflix debuts The White House Effect doc streaming on Netflix starting on October 31st, 2025 this fall. Look any good?

The wait is finally over — the Love Is Blind Season 9 reunion is here! After a dramatic finale that left every couple’s fate hanging in the balance, fans are about to get all the answers they’ve been waiting for. Hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, the special will bring the cast back together to reflect on the season’s biggest moments, reveal who’s still together, and address all the post-show drama.

Love Is Blind. Episode 912 of Love Is Blind. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix © 2025

Here’s everything to know about when and where to watch the Love Is Blind Season 9 reunion tonight.

Did Anyone Get Married on Love Is Blind Season 9?

No. Season 9 is the first in the franchise where none of the couples said “I do” at the altar. Despite the engagements, each couple ultimately decided against marriage: some broke up before reaching the altar, others said “no” at the altar, and a few terminated their partnership earlier.

Here’s the full list of the six couples who got engaged in the pods:

  • Ali Lima & Anton Yarosh

  • Kalybriah Haskin & Edmond Harvey

  • Megan Walerius (“Sparkle Megan”) & Jordan Keltner

  • Madison Maidenberg & Joe Ferrucci

  • Annie Lancaster & Nick Amato

  • Kacie McIntosh & Patrick Suzuki

Series creator Chris Coelen told Netflix’s Tudum that while the outcome was unusual, it still reflects the show’s core idea that honest choices matter more than forced endings.

“In Season 9, at least one member of each couple felt their love was not strong enough to overcome the challenges of the real world, and they chose not to get married,” he said. “That’s exactly how the experiment is supposed to work, so I would say not only is the experiment working, I think it’s working better than ever.”

What Time Does the Love Is Blind Season 9 Reunion Air?

The reunion premieres tonight (Wednesday, October 29, 2025) at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on Netflix.

How Can You Watch the Love Is Blind Season 9 Reunion?

Stream it directly on Netflix at the time above; any active Netflix plan will work. Coverage from Decider and Netflix’s Tudum confirms the drop time and that it’s a standard on-demand premiere (not live), so viewers can start from the beginning once it’s available.

Will There Be a Love Is Blind Season 10?

Yes. Netflix renewed the series for Seasons 9 and 10 in a two-season pickup announced earlier in 2025. A release window hasn’t been set yet, but outlets note the show typically runs two cycles per year.

“This is what conservation looks like.” Kaleidoscope Ent. has unveiled an official trailer for a documentary film titled simply Rhino, a vital story about saving rhinos in Kenya. Narrated by Academy Award-nominee Tom Hardy, the film follows an audacious mission to save the critically endangered black rhino against impossible odds. A dedicated wildlife ranger has protected his black rhino population so well (there’s only roughly ~6000 left in the world), that they have now run out of space. Hemmed in by ruthless bandits, the rhinos risk turning on each other. His team launches a major plan to move 21 rhinos across the country to provide a new safe haven. Highlighting the daily struggles experienced by those risking their lives to protect biodiversity, whilst simultaneously giving voice to those on the other side of the armed conflict, this hard-hitting, authentic film – crafted from 4 years of living & working within Kenya’s conservancy community – is both timely and urgent, as banditry violence spirals out of control, and the demand for illicit rhino horn climbs ever higher. Yep this looks like a thrilling and invigorating watch! Save these rhinos! We always need to share good stories like this – inspiring and especially moving in soulful, exhilarating ways. 🦏 Take a look.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Tom Martienssen’s doc film Rhino, direct from YouTube:

A unique eco-thriller, and story of resilience and victory in the fight to protect our natural world, narrated by Oscar-nominee Tom Hardy, and directed by cinematographer Tom Martienssen. With only 6000 black rhinos left on earth, one dedicated wildlife ranger, Kiloku, has made it his life mission to protect the species against all odds. With ~5% of the global population being poached each year, Kiloku’s team in Kenya has not lost a single rhino in nearly 10 years… A remarkable achievement, but one that does not come without consequences. They are running out of space. Hemmed in by ruthless bandits, the rhinos at his sanctuary risk turning on each other in a deathmatch for territory. With the help of a newly qualified ranger named Rita, the pair launch an audacious plan to move a group of the formidable herd to a new safe haven, 60 miles west. A potentially deadly mission, but one that the team are willing to risk their lives for in order to help launch a new population, and further Kenya’s incredible ongoing conservation efforts.

Rhino is a documentary film directed by acclaimed cinematographer / doc filmmaker Tom Martienssen, director of TV doc Gaucho: The Last Cowboys of Patagonia and a few other shorts; plus a cinematographer on many other adventure & nature docs. Produced by James May, Cassandra Roberts, Tom Martienssen. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Kaleidoscope debuts Martienssen’s Rhino doc in UK cinemas starting on November 28th, 2025 this fall. No US release is set yet – stay tuned.

2025 has seen quite a few technological glitches. Just a week after the global Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage wreaked havoc across multiple platforms, banks and airlines, Microsoft ran into a problem on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The company’s cloud computing platform, Azure, experienced an outage, and users expressed their frustration over the system error on social media.

Microsoft acknowledged the outage on Azure’s status page. “Starting at approximately 16:00 UTC on 29 October, 2025, customers and Microsoft services leveraging Azure Front Door (AFD) may have experienced latencies, timeouts, and errors,” a statement from the company read.

Below, find out why Azure went down and the status of the service.

We’re investigating an issue impacting Azure Front Door services. Customers may experience intermittent request failures or latency. Updates will be provided shortly.

— Azure Support (@AzureSupport) October 29, 2025

Is Microsoft Azure Still Down Today?

For some users, Microsoft Azure is still down at the time of publication. Outage reports on Downdetector reached a peak of over 20,000 at around 12:00 p.m. ET, then decreased over the next few hours.

Azure updated it status page in the afternoon. Microsoft explained, “We initiated the deployment of our ‘last known good’ configuration, which has now successfully been completed. Customers may have begun to see initial signs of recovery. We are currently recovering nodes and routing traffic through healthy nodes, and as we make progress in this workstream, customers will continue to see improvement. Customer configuration changes will remain temporarily blocked while we continue mitigation efforts. We will notify customers once this block has been lifted.”

We’re currently engaged and we are investigating this issue and will provide updates through the https://t.co/Dg5WtVYyML. ^RR

— Azure Support (@AzureSupport) October 29, 2025

Azure warned customers on its status page that some would still experience issues despite the system’s restoration.

“Although we are seeing signs of recovery and have an estimated timeline, customers may also consider implementing failover strategies using Azure Traffic Manager to redirect traffic from Azure Front Door to their origin servers as an interim measure,” Microsoft explained.

Are All Microsoft Servers Down Today?

No, but quite a few were. Outlook and Xbox customers complained of issues throughout the day.

Why Did Microsoft Azure Have an Outage?

Azure revealed the reason behind its outage via its status page. “We have confirmed that an inadvertent configuration change was the trigger event for this issue,” Azure clarified.

Final US Trailer for ‘Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy’ Korean Movie

by Alex Billington
October 29, 2025

“What’s the meaning of an ending with one survivor?” Blue Fox Entertainment has unveiled their official US trailers for an epic Korean action adventure movie called Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy. It’s made by the same Korean filmmaker who also made The Great Flood movie out in December later this year. Omniscient Reader is adapted from a famous web novel, written by a Korean author duo writing under the pen name “singNsong”. It was originally a big hit in Korea back in 2019. Combining epic high-stakes action with mind-bending fantasy, the movie promises to be a cinematic spectacle that will captivate both long-time fans of the webtoon & newcomers alike. When the apocalyptic world depicted in a serial novel suddenly becomes reality, ordinary Kim Dok-ja – the only person who knows how the novel ends – must set out on a treacherous journey with his companions and the novel’s omnipotent hero, Yu Jung-hyeok, to survive and save the day. Starring Ahn Hyo-seop & Lee Min-ho, along with Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, Nana, Jisoo, and Kwon Eun-seong. This looks like a big, cheesy Hollywood movie with some sketchy VFX – as they battle creatures of all sizes, malevolent forces, and more mayhem all trying to write their down destiny.

Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy Poster

Kim Dok-ja (Ahn Hyo-seop), an ordinary man in his 20s, is the only reader of an obscure web novel titled “Ways to Survive the Apocalypse”. Having started reading in school, after 10 years of serialization the novel’s conclusion is finally published, and Kim, not liking the ending, writes an angry letter to the author, calling it “the worst novel ever”. After sending the letter, the apocalyptic world of the novel suddenly becomes reality, and the novel’s omnipotent hero Yu Jung-hyeok (Lee Min-ho) appears before Kim. As the only person who knows how to survive in this world, Kim and his companions rescue Yu Jung-hyeok and strive to save the world by writing his own, new ending. Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy, also known as 전지적 독자 시점 in Korean, is directed by Korean filmmaker Kim Byung-woo, director of the films Written, The Terror Live, Take Point, and the “Reborn” series previously, as well as the upcoming The Great Flood movie. The screenplay is written by Kim Byung-woo & Lee Jung-min; based on the web novel by singNsong (aka Sing Shong). Produced by Realties Pictures & Won Dong-yeon. Capelight & Blue Fox debut Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy direct-to-VOD in the US starting November 4th, 2025 this fall. Who’s interested?

Gavin Newsom has long been one of the most influential figures in American politics. Currently serving as the Governor of California, he first rose to prominence as the Mayor of San Francisco, where his progressive policies— including his early support for same-sex marriage—made national headlines.

Since taking office as governor in 2019, Newsom has remained at the center of major state and national conversations, from climate initiatives and housing reform to his public clashes with federal leaders. With growing speculation about a potential 2028 presidential run, his profile on the political stage continues to rise.

Learn more about Gavin Newsom’s career, leadership, and personal life below.

He’s Been California’s Governor Since 2019

After serving eight years as California’s lieutenant governor, Newsom ran against Republican John H. Cox in the 2018 election and won by a wide margin. He was sworn in as the state’s 40th governor in January 2019, succeeding Jerry Brown.

He Suspended the Death Penalty in California

In 2019, shortly after taking office, Newsom signed an executive order halting executions in California—the state with the largest death-row population in the country. He also ordered the closure of the execution chamber at San Quentin State Prison, calling the death penalty “ineffective, irreversible, and immoral.” While the moratorium doesn’t abolish capital punishment outright, it effectively paused all executions during his tenure and reaffirmed his stance on criminal-justice reform.

“The American justice system is completely broken, and we all are perpetuating it,” Newsom said in an interview with ABC KGO at the time. “The systemic racism, the implicit bias, the overt bias, the whims of prosecutors based on geography, based on the will of people in the moment, fear and anxiety…. until we address that I don’t think we can do what Saudi Arabia is doing and what North Korea is doing.”

He Previously Served as Mayor of San Francisco

Newsom was elected mayor in 2003, and held the office until 2011. During his tenure, Newsom gained national attention for his support of same-sex marriage, especially during the California Prop 8 battle. He directed the San Francisco county clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, which in 2004 was a violation of state law. Though those marriages were later annulled because of that, he gained the support of the gay community and pushed forward the framework for state-wide same-sex marriage.

He was a vocal opponent of Proposition 8 during the 2008 election, a ballot initiative that would reverse the California Supreme Court ruling that said there was a constitutional right to same-sex marriage. While Prop 8 unfortunately passed, it was, of course, overruled in 2015 when the Supreme Court of the United States made same-sex marriage legal on the federal level.

We can no longer allow the death penalty to be a part of what defines us. That begins today in California. https://t.co/7baNcPP3OR

— Gavin Newsom (@GavinNewsom) March 13, 2019

He’s Married and Has Four Kids

Newsom has been married to Jennifer Siebel Newsom, a documentary filmmaker and advocate, since July 2008. They have four children together: Montana, Hunter, Brooklynn, and Dutch.

Before Jennifer, Newsom was married to Kimberly Guilfoyle from 2001 to 2005, during his early years in San Francisco politics. At the time, she was a prosecutor and television legal analyst. Following their divorce, Guilfoyle became a Fox News host and later entered a high-profile relationship with Donald Trump Jr., though the pair have since split.

He’s a Potential 2028 Presidential Contender

The California governor has ramped up his national profile—taking on high-visibility battles with Donald Trump, visiting key states like South Carolina, and positioning himself as a frontrunner among Democrats for 2028.

In a recent interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Newsom admitted he would give a run for the White House “serious thought” after the 2026 midterm elections, saying, “Yeah, I’d be lying otherwise.”

Dr. Phil McGraw came to the end of his reign on Dr. Phil years ago. The talk show host and author, who holds a doctorate in clinical psychology, first rose to prominence while appearing alongside Oprah Winfrey on her landmark television talk show as a relationship expert. However, after several years his popularity became apparent, and he launched his own talk show, Dr. Phil, which has stood the test of time — lasting a whopping 21 seasons. On his rise to the very top of television talk show success, Dr. Phil has been married twice. His current marriage to wife Robin has lasted for decades and counting. But he also had a previous wife, with whom he shared a much shorter union. Here’s everything to know about Robin McGraw and Debbie Higgins McCall, the two women who have called Dr. Phil their husband.

Debbie Higgins McCall

Kristin Callahan/Everett Collection

Phil, born (Philip Calvin in 1950,) was just 20 years old when he married Debbie Higgins in 1970. But according to Debbie, it didn’t go well. Per the star’s Wikipedia page, she accused him of being controlling, to the point of expecting her to take up weightlifting as a way to increase her bust size. In the end, she claimed their marriage ended after three years over infidelity.

As for how it started, the TV personality once said marriage was an inevitability. “I was the big football player, and she was the cheerleader,” Dr Phil said in 2002, according to Newsweek. “This was just the next thing to do.” He claimed there was never a fallout over ending the marriage. “We never had a cross word,” he said. “We just sat down and said, ‘Why did we do this?’” They annulled their marriage in 1973.

According to The U.S. Sun, Debbie worked as an editor on the 2013 film Demon Hunters: Fear the Silence. She passed away in 2014.

Robin McGraw

Dr. Phil began dating his current wife, the former Robin Jo Jameson in 1973 while still in the process of annulling his marriage to Debbie. They ultimately married in 1976, and have since welcomed two children, Jay and Jordan McGraw. Robin, now 69, has been quite visible as an activist, public speaker, and philanthropist alongside her husband, frequently appearing on his show and running When Georgia Smiled: The Robin McGraw and Dr. Phil Foundation.

Per the Dr. Phil official website, her mission is to “enact real change by creating and advancing programs that help women and children — especially those affected by domestic violence — live healthy, safe and joy-filled lives.”

In an interview back in 2014, she explained one of the secrets of their long lasting marriage, which is now going on 50 years. “But we don’t fight and it’s because we had a conversation early on and I told him that it’s not natural for me to be in a house where people are screaming and yelling – my parents didn’t do it, I don’t do it and I don’t want to live in a house like that,” she told New You magazine at the time. “He got it and has never raised his voice around me. We don’t fight.”

They’ve been married for 46 years and also now share two grandchildren.
