Said outfit, of course, echoed her on-screen style as Annie, whose “rueful, Chaplinesque, baggy-pants-and-vest look” struck a chord with an entire generation keen to leave behind the “rich hippy” feel of the late ’60s, as Vogue put it. The key to achieving the aesthetic? In a word: vintage.

“Even before the emergence of the Annie Hall style, the popularity of thrift shop clothes had hit the streets,” this magazine noted in an August 1978 interview with the film’s costume designer Ruth Morley. “Ethel Scull made the papers in New York a few years back when she appeared at a gathering of swells in a genuine ESSO workman’s coverall, and rock stars had popularized the slightly schizophrenic garb of cast-offs from other milieux. Lifestyles in general have grown less formal by quantum leaps, and individuality in clothing seems to be a badge for that by-now clichéd adage to ‘do your own thing.’ Women’s hard-won independence is reflected by their search for more personal and less dictatorial styles.”

For her part, Keaton had been a devotee of Goodwill since the early ’60s, calling its LA branches her “sanctuary” as a teenager. “Mom taught my sister Dorrie and me to rummage for the best and alter if needed,” she wrote in Fashion First. “Someone else’s junk was now our perfect treasure. Once home, we would put together outfits for the rest of the day, while discussing when we would go back to the Goodwill.” Before she had even left Santa Ana College for Manhattan, she had developed her distinctive taste—as evidenced by her request to wear a bowler hat to her prom. “My mother said, ‘Maybe another time, Diane.’”

Here, Vogue looks back at the star’s most memorable early fashion moments.

Neil Young to Remove Music From Amazon as Singer Slams Jeff Bezos

by jummy84 October 11, 2025

Neil Young is pulling his music from Amazon, the legendary singer-songwriter revealed in a blog post published on his personal website on Wednesday (Oct. 8).

In an apparent protest against the Trump administration, Young wrote, “The time is here. FORGET AMAZON,” under a header that includes the words, “BEZOS SUPPORTS THIS GOVERNMENT,” a reference to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

“Soon my music will not be there,” Young continued of Amazon. “It is easy to buy local. Support your community. Go to the local store. Don’t go back to the big corporations who have sold out America.”

The revelation came in a post that included a larger call by Young for people to discontinue shopping at Amazon and the upscale grocery chain Whole Foods, which the online retail giant acquired in 2017. He also seemed to call for a boycott of Facebook, writing “FORGET FACEBOOK” under a logo of the social media platform’s parent company, Meta. In August, Young left Facebook after a Reuters report claimed Meta had allowed AI chatbots to communicate with minors using “romantic or sensual” language.

“We all have to give up something to save America from the Corporate Control Age it is entering,” Young continued. “They need you to buy from them. Don’t.”

The singer also referenced the current shutdown of the U.S. government, writing, “They shut down our government your income your safety your family’s health security. Take America Back together, stop buying from the big corporations support local business. Do the right thing. Show who you are.”

Young has been openly critical of President Trump over the years. Last month, he released the song “Big Crime” with his band Chrome Hearts that railed against recent actions by the president — who is never mentioned by name — with lyrics like, “No more money to the fascists/ The billionaire fascists/ Time to blackout the system/ No more great again.”

Young’s music remained available on Amazon Music at the time of publishing. Representatives for Amazon Music and Young’s label, Warner Music/Reprise, did not immediately return requests for comment.

This isn’t the first time Young has boycotted a digital music provider. In January 2022, the star pulled his catalog from Spotify over its lucrative deal with Joe Rogan, through which it retained exclusive rights to, but not ownership of, the host’s wildly popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast. In a post on his website at the time, Young accused Rogan of spreading “misinformation” about the COVID vaccine on the podcast. “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both,” he wrote.

Young’s stance inspired several other artists to remove their catalogs from the service, including Joni Mitchell and Young’s Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young bandmates David Crosby, Graham Nash and Stephen Stills. Young restored his music to the streaming giant in March 2024 following the expiration of its exclusive deal with Rogan. The previous September, Billboard estimated that Young’s decision to remove his catalog from Spotify cost him roughly $300,000 in lost recorded music and publishing royalties up to that point.

More recently, artists including Massive Attack, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Deerhoof and Sylvan Esso have pulled their catalogs from Spotify over founder Daniel Ek‘s reported $1 billion investment into defense company Helsing, which sells AI software to inform military decisions.

Neil Young Pulling Music from Amazon, Calls for Boycott: “Support Your Community”

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Neil Young has had enough of Amazon.

The classic rocker has announced that he’ll be pulling his music from the massive online retailer, and is calling for a boycott of the Jeff Bezos-founded company.

“FORGET AMAZON AND WHOLE FOODS. FORGET FACEBOOK. “BUY LOCAL. BUY DIRECT,” reads his post on the Neil Young Archives website. “BEZOS SUPPORTS THIS GOVERNMENT. IT DOES NOT SUPPORT YOU OR ME.”

Young’s message continues:

“The time is here.
FORGET AMAZON.
Soon my music will not be there. It is easy to buy local. Support your community.
Go to the local store.
Don’t go back to the big corporations who have sold out America.
We all have to give up something to save America from the Corporate Control Age it is entering.
They need you to buy from them.
Don’t.
They shut down our government
your income
your safety
your family’s health security.
Take America Back
together, stop buying from the
big corporations
support local business.
Do the right thing. Show who you are.”

It has yet to be revealed if Young is just pulling his music from the Amazon Music streaming platform, or if he’ll be removing his physical products from the store as well.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Young has pulled his music from a platform. It was back in 2022 when he demanded that his music be removed from Spotify over misinformation about vaccines spread on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Just last year, he announced his unenthusiastic return to the streaming platform after Rogan’s podcast was no longer exclusive to Spotify.

In regard to Facebook, it was in August of this year when Young ceased all activities on his official Facebook page in response to a Reuters report revealing that Meta’s AI chatbots have been permitted to have “romantic or sensual” conversations with minors.

His rage against the current administration was on full display last month with the official release of the new song, “Big Crime,” which calls out Donald Trump for (among other things) “fascist crimes,” adding the declaration, “Don’t want soldiers on our streets.”

Neil Young has announced that he is removing his discography from Amazon Music – find out more below.

In January 2022, Neil Young announced that he would be removing his music from Spotify after episodes of Joe Rogan’s controversial podcast spread misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccines. At the time, Joe Rogan’s podcast was signed exclusively to Spotify.

He reluctantly returned to the streaming platform in 2024 after Apple Music and Amazon picked up the podcast. Young said at the time: “Spotify, the #1 streaming of low res music in the world – Spotify where you get less quality than we made, will now be home of my music again.”

“My decision comes as music services Apple and Amazon have started serving the same disinformation podcast features I opposed at Spotify. I cannot just leave Apple and Amazon, like I did with Spotify, because my music would have very little streaming outlet to music lovers at all.”

Now, however, Young has announced that his music will be leaving Amazon “soon”. He wrote in a new entry on his Neil Young Archives blog: “The time is here. FORGET AMAZON. Soon my music will not be there. It is easy to buy local. Support your community. Go to the local store. Don’t go back to the big corporations who have sold out America.”

He then went on to urge his fans to boycott corporations like Amazon, Meta – who owns Facebook and Instagram – and Whole Foods. Young deactivated his Facebook and Instagram accounts over Meta’s reported “unconscionable use of chatbots with children” earlier this year.

Young wrote of his boycott plea: “We all have to give up something to save America from the Corporate Control Age it is entering. They need you to buy from them. Don’t. They shut down our government, your income, your safety, your family’s health security. Take America back together, stop buying from the big corporations. Support local business. Do the right thing. Show who you are.”

He also quit X/Twitter in late 2023 after Elon Musk appeared to endorse an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory. On his website, he wrote: “We are stopping all use of X we can control. For reasons that should be obvious to the richest man on Earth, we are taking this action against his company.”

Earlier this summer, Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts headlined Glastonbury 2025 and topped the bill at BST Hyde Park in London. They also played a concert at Malahide Castle in Dublin, among numerous other European dates.

In a four-star review of Young’s return to the Pyramid Stage at Glasto, NME described the performance as “a headline set that proves that sometimes, there’s still power to be found in an old-school approach”.

“It is, in short, the definition of no frills,” it read. “It’s testament to the power of Young’s songwriting, then, just how brilliantly it all works, how little the momentum drops.”

Young released his first studio album with the Chrome Hearts, ‘Talkin To The Trees’, in June.

Neil Young & the Chrome Hearts Rock for Rebellion » PopMatters

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

There are a few musicians who have been able to maintain both their relevance and their edge from the 1960s to the 2020s, and Neil Young remains such a trailblazer. One of the most influential rockers in music history, Young has also been a force across multiple genres, ranging from folk rock in the 1960s to what would become classic rock in the 1970s and onward to earning the honor of being dubbed “the godfather of grunge” in the 1990s.

Young has kept it going in the 21st century, not just touring behind his classic hits but also delivering new material that continues to shine a light on the modern problems that plague society. That has included cutting-edge socio-political commentary in vibrant new music from 2003’s Greendale to 2006’s Living With War, 2015’s The Monsanto Years, 2016’s Peace Trail, and 2025’s Talking to the Trees with his current group, the Chrome Hearts.

The Chrome Hearts aren’t really a brand new band per se, rather a recalibration of Promise of the Real, which served as Young’s band from around 2015 to 2020. Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real (often featuring Lukas’ younger brother Micah) backed Young for several tours and albums, a match made in music heaven, as Lukas and drummer Anthony LoGerfo had met at a Neil Young show in 2008. However, with Lukas deciding it was time to focus on his own career, Logerfo, bassist Corey McCormick, and Micah Nelson have carried on backing Young as the Chrome Hearts (along with keyboardist Spooner Oldham).

The Love Earth Tour has touched down for its penultimate stop at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California, and it’s a homecoming show, with the Bay Area venue having previously hosted Young’s annual Bridge School benefit shows for many years. The tour has been winning raves across the nation while also making headlines with the new song “Big Crime”, which takes direct aim at the current occupants of the White House.

“Don’t need no fascist rules / Don’t want no fascist schools / Don’t want soldiers on our streets / There’s big crime in DC at the White House,” Young sings on the song released at the end of August. It’s pretty amazing how Neil Young is yet again the cutting-edge artist with the courage to call out the powers that be for their crimes against the people, much as he was back in 1970 when he authored the instant classic “Ohio” after a National Guard massacre at Kent State University that saw four anti-war student protestors shot dead with nine more wounded.

The concourse features some tabling opportunities for activism to “Take Action” to “Love Earth”, and it feels like a timely offering, with how the Trump regime has been dragging America in the opposite direction of protecting the environment to maximize fossil fuel exploitation and profiteering. It’s a critical time for humanity and the climate, so it’s inspiring to see Young back out on the road, still rocking out at age 79, while bringing a Love Earth Village on the road with him.

“Support your friends, Support the land, And support the people that want to care for the land. The revolution starts with us. The revolution starts with you,” says a quote from Young on the “Take Action” cards being handed out that feature a QR code linking to “the many ways you can LOVE EARTH & MAKE A DIFFERENCE!”

An intriguing group, Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Choir, open the show with a 30-minute set that sets an insurgent tone for the evening. The Reverend, played by actor and playwright William Talen, has grown his act from solo activism in New York City’s Times Square to leading a rock band with a backing choir and an inspiring message. “We work for the earth. What’s your favorite planet? Someone give me an Earthalujah, liberate yourselves,” Reverend Billy urges as an introduction to “La La Liberate”.

He goes on to discuss how we recognize that we need to change. “Someone give me a Changealujah! We gotta go get the billionaires and they’re surrounded by police,” the Rev laments. “Let’s make some new change,” he says as an introduction to “Can We Be Strange Enough to Change Enough”, a rocking tune that takes on an uplifting revival vibe.

Reverend Billy goes on to call out the bankers and financiers of fossil fuels, suggesting that the audience “Tell ’em what they’ve been doing wrong with their money, tell’ em to do the right thing for the Earth… You are the Earth yourself, you’re on assignment, and you love the Earth, life is beautiful, we love the Earth,” he says as an intro to “Beautiful Earth” from 2022’s Change Without Us album. With encouragement to befriend the animals, trees, butterflies, and the sea, the song concludes the set like a sermon for planetary peace and harmony, culminating in a rousing finish as the Rev calls out for collective activism to change the world.

Neil Young has been an activist rocker throughout his career, yet even more so in the 21st century. He opens the show with “Ambulance Blues”, performed on acoustic guitar, where he sings of how “the air was magic” when he played “back in the old folky days”. The vibe elevates when Young switches to electric guitar as he and the Chrome Hearts rock out on “Cowgirl in the Sand”, from his classic 1969 album Everybody Knows This is Nowhere. The giant rust-colored amplifier prop behind him makes Young seem larger than life, and indeed, he is. The number of peers who can match his impressive career arc from then to now can arguably be counted on one hand.

The bluesy “Vampire Blues” from 1974’s On the Beach album turns out to be a tour debut, as Young isn’t content to just repeat the same setlist each night. It taps into the environmentalist theme of the tour, with Young singing of a vampire “Sucking blood from the earth” to “Sell you 20 barrels’ worth”. The fan favorite “Powderfinger” from 1979’s Rust Never Sleeps gets the place rocking again with the guitar-driven sound that led to the “godfather of grunge” tag, as Young sings of when he was just 22 and “was wondering what to do”.

“Thank you for coming, take care of yourself in this crazy world, we’re just glad to be here tonight,” Young says after “Long Walk Home”, perhaps alluding to the Charlie Kirk assassination earlier in the week, among other daily insanities.

The show soars to a multidimensional level on the electrifying “Be the Rain”, as Young sings what feels like a signature anthem for the Love Earth Tour: “Save the planet for another day / Don’t care what the governments say…” The climactic closing track of 2003’s Greendale concept record, featuring his long-time band Crazy Horse, the song remains as timely now as the lyrics implore the audience to take action. “We got to wake up, We got to keep going / We got a job to do / We got to save Mother Earth.”

The Chrome Hearts sound fantastic as McCormick and LoGerfo rock a heavy groove, while Young and Nelson riff out on an extended jam. There’s something so uplifting about seeing a band rock out on a well-crafted song about standing up to the powers that be to save the planet, and Neil Young & the Chrome Hearts show how it’s done on “Be the Rain”.

Neil Young 2025

“Southern Man” from 1970’s After the Goldrush gets a theme going as the band keep rocking on a classic tune that takes the South to task for its racism and moral hypocrisy. Micah Nelson displays his multi-instrumental skills by moving to piano for the song, but then he’s back on guitar when “Southern Man” leads directly into “Ohio” as the band throw down an incendiary performance of the classic anti-war anthem about “Four dead in O-hi-o”. Nelson stands out again as he fills the David Crosby role on the backing vocals, crying out, “Four! How many more?”

Neil Young’s “Ohio” still holds a vital lesson for modern America. While the events of 4 May 1970, have been largely written off by history as a tragic accident, historical evidence suggests that President Richard Nixon had reason to hold a grudge against the militant Kent State chapter of SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) and sought to make an example of them. With another megalomaniac like Donald Trump in the White House making frequent threats against his perceived and often contrived political enemies, the lessons of 4 May 1970 loom large as Trump uses the National Guard to intimidate the citizens of America, as already seen in Los Angeles and Washington, DC.

It’s an impactful combo when Neil Young & the Chrome Hearts move right from 1970’s “Ohio” into 2025’s “Big Crime” to make a bold and rocking statement as Young sings straight to the point: “Got to get the fascists out, Got to clean the White House out…” The song feels like it could be a sequel to 2006’s underrated Living With War (which oddly isn’t represented in the setlist), as it provides a musical boost for resistance to the right-wing extremism that America currently faces from the Trump regime.

“Silver Eagle” from 2025’s Talking to the Trees album is introduced by Young as a song inspired by his bus driver asking whether he was writing anything current. The mid-tempo road song captures the good vibes of taking the show on the road and “feeling free”. That leads to a performance of the heartfelt deep cut “Sail Away” from Rust Never Sleeps, apparently not played since 2013.

Neil Young 2025

The shimmering “Harvest Moon” follows as a majestic crowd pleaser that sounds great here under the stars, as well as CSNY’s “Looking Forward” for a stellar acoustic sequence. “Looking forward to all that I can see / Is good things happening to you and me / I’m not waiting for times to change / I’m gonna live like a free roamin’ soul / On the highway of our love,” Young sings in what feels like a timely message for heavy times.

Neil Young cranks up the insurgent rock ‘n’ roll vibe with “Sun Green”, a song from Greendale about an activist who chains herself to a statue of an eagle in the lobby of a power company to protest the sleazy corruption taking place. “Hey, Mr. Clean, you’re dirty now, too,” Young sings as he and the Chrome Hearts rock out. “Mother Earth has many enemies / There’s much work to be done,” he sings toward the end.

That makes for a great segue into the ultra classic anthem “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)”, as Young and the audience sing together, “Hey hey, my my, rock and roll can never die!” It’s an electrifying moment for those who consider rock and roll akin to their religion, which seems to be most of the crowd. Young and Nelson tear it up with scintillating riffage over the big groove as Shoreline rocks out. Another timeless classic follows with “Like a Hurricane”, as the set continues to surge. Nelson plays a keyboard with wings that descends from above on ropes, adding an extra surreal element to the performance. The psychedelic rock power here is at a high level as Young rips it up on one of his most influential tunes.

Young takes things back down a notch as he plays an organ on Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s “Name of Love”, singing “You hold the future in your hands / Do it in the name of love / Before another bomb explodes / Can you do it in the name of love?” It’s another timely question for this crazy world, where money in politics has corrupted our government to serve corporatocracy profiteering rather than serving the people. “Old Man” closes out the set with Young and the Chrome Hearts rocking righteously, before the band returns for a big encore on “Rockin’ in the Free World”.

Neil Young 2025
Photo: Lisa Miller

The iconic tune from 1989’s Freedom still sounds remarkably contemporary, perhaps aided by its status as a staple encore for Pearl Jam since the 1990s (who also backed Young on his 1995 Mirrorball album). Like director John Carpenter‘s classic film They Live (1988), the song was a lament on the politics of the 1980s, which were dominated by the hypocritical “compassionate conservatism” of Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.

Yet, as in They Live, “Rockin’ in the Free World” continues to play as a prophetic vision of modern times, with the corporate race to the bottom and the corruption of politics by the military-industrial complex. Then there’s also the timeless power chords and the inevitable energy level the song conjures.

It’s one of the great climactic closers in rock history, proven again here as Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts lead the audience in rocking out to “take America back”, as one of the tour T-shirts proclaims. At a perilous time for the US, when many musicians and artists are afraid to speak truth to power for fear of potentially offending part of their audience, Neil Young remains one of the most courageous and spiritual leaders of the rock and roll counterculture that he helped pioneer.

As Ross appeared surprised, Thug shook his head in further confirmation.

“But I still got a girl — she probably don’t got a boyfriend, but I got a girl,” Thug added.

As The Shade Room previously reported, in early September, audio clips began surfacing online of Young Thug’s calls from behind bars. In it, he mentioned a plethora of rappers — from Gunna to Lil Durk, Lil Baby, Future, GloRilla, Kendrick Lamar, and others — talking pretty candidly about each of them.

Furthermore, one audio clip surfaced in which Young Thug could be heard admitting to cheating on Mariah The Scientist back in 2022, per The Shade Room. After the audio went public, Thug issued an apology to Mariah.

Subsequently, Mariah The Scientist took to social media, sharing lyrics from her song, ‘Rainy Dayz.’

Amid all of this, audio also surfaced of Thug telling another woman he loved her while behind bars.

Subsequently, Thug took to X, writing “Chapter ended…” Many suspected his tweet indicated he and Mariah had gone their separate ways, per The Shade Room. Since then, the rapper has released an apology track titled ‘Miss My Dogs,’ directed toward Mariah and the aforementioned rappers, per The Shade Room. At this time, however, Mariah has not publicly shared a statement on where she stands with Thug or what she thinks about his recent revelation.

Young Thug Says He’ll “Never Look At Gunna The Same No Matter What”

Young Thug has opened up a bit further about his rift with his longtime friend and collaborator, Gunna.

On Monday’s (Sept. 29) episode of the It’s Up There Podcast, the Atlanta rapper spoke candidly about their fractured relationship, revealing that the bond they once shared is irreparable now following their two-year YSL RICO case.

Thug served two years in jail, while Gunna spent seven months behind bars after pleading guilty to racketeering charges. “I’m not gonna be able to look at [Gunna] the same no matter what,” Thug told the host. “We can go get a trillion dollars together. I’m not gonna be able to look at you the way I looked at you before we went to jail.”

Once inseparable, the two artists’ relationship hit a turning point after Gunna was allowed to leave jail only after acknowledging that YSL functioned as a gang. Thug, meanwhile, remained incarcerated until October 2024, when he reached his own plea agreement.

“I love you to death,” Thug admitted about Gunna. “I know you love me. We love each other to death, but we just going our own ways.”

Both rappers were among 28 individuals swept up in a 2022 RICO indictment, which prosecutors described as “targeting a hybrid entity” — part record label, part street gang. The case dragged on for nearly two years, becoming one of the longest criminal trials in Georgia history.

“The only reason why I’m looking at it like some bullsh*t is because you my brother,” Thug said speaking indirectly to Wunna. “On top of that, you my man, you my best friend.” Though he emphasized that he has no resentment towards him, Thug admitted that Gunna’s plea felt like a betrayal of their bond.

“It ain’t even no sense for you to trying to be back cool with me because we gonna be around each other and it’s gonna be weird,” he added. “The dap-up gonna be different, everything gon’ be different ’cause I already look at it like a different situation.” Despite the tension, Thug insists he’s not rooting against his former friend. “I still want you to eat, just not at my table,” he clarified.

The “Slat” rhymer made it clear that if he was to be around Gunna and “happy” he’ll “just feel like a f**k ni**a.” He explained, “I’mma feel like not a real person. I gotta be real, bruh.”

Take a look at his latest remarks on his relationship with Gunna below.

Lola Young announces indefinite hiatus following collapse

1 October 2025

Lola Young has cancelled all of her planned appearances “for the foreseeable future” after recently collapsing on stage.

Lola Young has cancelled upcoming gigs

The 24-year-old star collapsed during a performance in New York and she’s now taken to social media to announce an indefinite hiatus from the stage.

Lola wrote on Instagram: “I’m going away for a while. It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future. Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know.

“Obviously you will be entitled to a full refund.

“I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger. Love you all, Lola x. (sic)”

Lola previously cancelled a gig in Washington, D.C. a day after collapsing onstage in New York.

The singer suffered a medical issue while singing Conceited at the All Things Go Music Festival at Forest Hills Stadium, New York City, on Saturday (27.09.25) and was taken backstage by medical staff, but she later reassured fans she was fine.

In a statement posted on Instagram, she wrote: “I’m sorry to confirm that I won’t be playing All Things Go in DC today.

“I love this job and I never take my commitments and audience for granted so I’m sorry to those who will be disappointed by this.

“I hope you’ll all give me another chance in the future. Thank you to all those who listen and care. To all the people that love to be mean online, pls give me a day off. (sic)”

After her collapse in New York, Lola told fans she was “doing OK”, writing in a social media update: “Hi, for anyone who saw my set at All Things Go today, I am doing OK now. Thank you for all of your support, Lola xxx. (sic)”

Speaking before the medical incident, Lola told the crowd in New York that she’d had a tough couple of days.

She said: “Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue, but you know what, today I woke up and I made the decision to come here, and I wanted to be cool … and sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade.”

Lola Young Cancels All Upcoming Shows

This past Saturday (September 27), Lola Young collapsed while performing during All Things Go festival at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium. Now, the British pop singer-songwriter has announced she’s taking a break to prioritize her health. “I’m going away for a while,” she wrote in a statement on social media. “It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future.”

“Thank you for all the love and support,” Young continued. “I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know. Obviously you will be entitled to a full refund. I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger. Love you all, Lola x”

Over the years, Young has opened up about her various health struggles and diagnoses, including ADHD, schizoaffective disorder, and a 2024 rehab stay to treat cocaine addiction. Young pulled out of Audacy’s We Can Survive Concert in Newark, citing mental health concerns, prior to her fainting at All Things Go this past weekend. During her debut Coachella performance earlier this year, she also vomited onstage, which she later chalked up to nerves.

Young has been writing and recording music ever since she was a teenager, having landed spots in competition shows such as Open Mic UK and Got What It Takes? in England. Last year, her single “Messy”—from her sophomore album This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway—achieved massive success, topping the UK Singles Chart for four weeks. Young released her third studio album, I’m Only F**king Myself, back in June.

Young Thug and Gunna have remained distanced since both reached plea deals in the YSL RICO case. Thug joined the It’s Up There Podcast on Monday (Sept. 29), where he explained why he can’t have Gunna around him anymore, while he wishes him the best in his career.

“I’m not gonna be able to look at [Gunna] the same no matter what,” he said. “We can go get a trillion dollars together. I’m not gonna be able to look at you the way I looked at you before we went to jail. I love you to death. I know you love me. We love each other to death, but we just going our own ways.”

Thug continued: “I ain’t gonna be able to look at you the same, I’d feel like a fake n—a just having you around me because… I already look at you a certain type of way. And I got a right to. For the sake of your heart and your mind and the thought process you having now, go get your money, man, take care of your family and do what you need to do.”

Gunna reached an Alford plea in December 2022 to secure his release from jail, which saw him admit that YSL is a gang.

Thugger remained behind bars until reaching a plea deal in October 2024, and he hasn’t been in contact with his YSL protégé since coming home.

“It ain’t even no sense for you to try to be back cool with me because we gonna be around each other and it’s gonna be weird,” he said. “The dap-up gonna be different, everythin gon’ be different because I already look at it like a different situation. People think I’m bitter because I don’t want to be friends.”

Thug added: “I’ma be sitting around you and I’ma just cry. I’ma feel a certain type of way sitting around you because I know how I felt about you. I know what I did with you and for you. You know all the times we shared. We done cried together before… I’ma be around you in the future and be crying every God damn day… I’m over it.”

In the future, if Thug and Gunna happen to be in the same place, fans shouldn’t expect any sort of friendly embrace between the former collaborators, but there won’t be any disrespect either.

“If I be around [you] and be happy and pretend, I’mma just feel like a f— n—a,” he said. “I’mma feel like not a real person. I gotta be real, bruh.”

There’s no hard feelings for Thug with Gunna or anyone else who was arrested as part of the YSL RICO trial. “I still want you to eat, just not at my table,” Thug continued.

Young Thug explained how he never looked at his relationship with Gunna as a business deal since he was signed to YSL. “The only reason why I’m looking at it like some bullsh– is because you my brother,” he said. “On top of that, you my man, you my best friend.”

He took Gunna’s Alford plea as a betrayal and as if Gunna was putting his career ahead of their relationship outside of business.

Thug returned to the music scene with his UY SCUTI album on Friday (Sept. 26), which features assists from Future, Cardi B, Travis Scott, Mariah the Scientist, T.I., Ken Carson, Sexyy Red, Lil Baby and former foe YFN Lucci.

Listen to the full Thugger interview below. Talk about Gunna starts around the 19-minute mark.
